People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Is there an option for "Just the Terrain" or should I vote No?

Unless that counts as yes?

This should be on the poll! I would second the motion, but even that would be a waste of money.

I voted for the last option, somebody had to fulfill this duty.

I think I will buy planetstrike. It looks like being real fun and I think all supplements for WH40k are major rulebooks, so it´s practical, too. They affect all races in a kind of way .
And I love sieges of future fortresses. Weren´t there rules for it in warhammer siege back in the rogue trader days?

There sure were. All kinds of weird rules for fortresses made from super hard crystalline, living fortresses, etc. I especially remember a piece of flavor text where an Ork dreadnought pilot ejects himself onto the parapet of a fortress and is executed by the marine waiting there.

That sounds pretty cool! I love this old stuff. I own a copy of rogue trader myself( via ebay ). It was just great, with the rules for battles on the surface of a leviathan command vehicle or space marines getting attacked by robots going crazy.

With the altered FOC it seems very open to abuse - e.g. Defenders with 18 Obliterators, 6 Wraithlords, 6 Exorcists - meh - not sure - it's kind of open to some of the Apocalypse abuse floating around.

What do other people think? Some armies can use the 6 Heavy Support Slots - or 6 Elites etc. very harshly IMHO - or am I just barking up the wrong tree...

Good point!

Mine will probably suffer the same fate, but I hope that it will at least be a fun read with plenty of terrain inspiration too.

I just hope it's not that horrible sharp paper from the rulebook so I can still use it as toilet paper safely.

I still haven't gotten Apocalypse yet, so probably not. It at least sounds like more fun than Apocalypse ever did anyway.

Personally though I think the missions book sounded better, something you could play real 40k with and not an expansion that you have to ask to play ahead of time and plan games for, like Apocalypse.

Not like they can hold objectives. 18 Oblits leaves few points for anything else. Nasty, but a couple pie plates on your few CSM squads will leave you in a position where you're unable to win the game.

I'm more worried about the 18 Vendettas the attacker gets.

I'm going to get the book as more variety on how you can play sounds like a good idea, and I know that the clubs up here like to organize local tourneys around the supplements. As for the terrain, I really don't want to buy any imperial terrain, or CSM terrain. So if they come out with anything for the other races I may consider it, but I'd rather not support the imbalance in favor of stuff for the imperium.

Lets see the book before you start blowing smoke up my .

On the whole, it just looks like gak, but if the scenery has something more to it then just looks, I may give it a look.

I wouldn't mind playing a good regular game of 40K without a bunch of, "Oh, just a sec, lets look over this rule from this book, before you make a move."

I think this is going to be GW's most epic fail yet if they don't get this pricing issue squared away.

Seriously, wtf, why make models outpriced to play games with, and then try to give the hip hip huzzahs for getting the shaft?

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

To be perfectly honest, I don't really know very much about this. Is this supposed to be a 40k supplement, or an Apoc supplement? Is it meant to be played on an Apoc scale?

As far as the terrain goes, I thinks it's mostly pretty much crap. The big-ass laser on the Imperial Bastion is cool, but the only piece I actually like is the Landing Pad. I may check it out if somebody else is playing it, but there's no way I'm buying into it at this point.

@OP - The intrinsic irony of your last poll option kills me. You ask if people are idiots, but you ask with the spelling of 'ur'. I hope "u" checked that one.
*facepalm*

Not really feeling all the negative vibes in this thread re: planetstrike... personally I'm really excited about the whole thing, proper rules for fortifications and destroyable defensive terrain, new mission types, yeah, it sounds ace!

I look at Apoc as an oppurtunity to play big fun games with your friends... people talk about the abuse with the whole 18 oblits thing, first of all, who the hell owns 18 obliterators, secondly, if your friend turns up to play with them, punch him in the face. Seriously, if you are playing amongst friends for fun, it shouldn't be about beardy win-spam.

I'm looking forward to building a great big fortress covered in heavy weapon emplacements, then filling it with guardsmen and throwing all of my Orks against it.

Yeah, I'll be buying Planetstrike.

Yeah. I liked CoD just like I liked Apoc. I also liked the way I like, used 'like' three times in that last sentence. And the last one.

Suppliments make 40K more interesting, certainly more interesting than the "Which of my units is about to get screwed" sweepstakes we get with each new Codex release.

Plus with this, CoD, Apoc and the Plenatary Empires, we've got the makings of a beautiful campaign system.
