It is the 31st millennium, and the Emperor of Mankind leads his genetically engineered warriors in an endeavorer to unite the far-flung fragments of Humanity in a campaign known as the Great Crusade. At the head of his endless Legions of Astartes are the Primarchs, superhuman beings created in the Emperor's own image, gods among men. But as the Emperor leaves the front lines to return to his throne on Terra, whispers that he has abandoned his warriors begin to circulate throughout the ranks of the Astartes. On Davin, the Warmaster Horus suffers a terrible wound from a cursed blade, and dies from his wounds, causing the Great Crusade to grind to a halt while a new Warmaster is appointed. The Emperor, hearing of the loss of his favored son, locks himself away in the Imperial Palace in mourning. This is where our story begins, with the Legions spread out across the galaxy, and the Primarchs waiting for the Emperor to appoint a new Warmaster.

THE RULES
In the Great Heresy RP, you will be taking on the role of one of the 17 Primarchs, leading your forces into battle, and deciding where your loyalties truly lie... You will make alliances, create battle plans, do a bit of politicking, and maybe, just maybe, overthrow the Master of Mankind. For all situations, I'll be using the PAN system for all rolls and tests. Let me explain, I pick a number, often 1-10, if you choose the correct number, or are rather close, you succeeded in your task. Like all PAN games, roleplaying is a major factor, so get in character, and go wild!

First, every space marine "doesn't afraid of heretics." Space Marines aren't capable of fear. Ultramarines are the most pompuse Chapter there is. Gulliman imposed the Codex Asartes on every Legion making them disband into smaller Chapters. When Leman Russ pretty much said f*ck off to Gulliman, He threatened to start civil war because he didn't get his way. Not to mention he is all gw writes about nowadays. Successful troll is indeed successful, but more to the point, none of that has happened yet. You can't go chosing Warmaster off of actions that have not happened, and possibly never will. Otherwise we might as well go re-read the Horus Heresy books.

Ullanor, it seemed so fitting for the coronation to take place here. The entirety of the Emperor's Legions had been recalled to bear witness to this historical event. The Emperor of Mankind, his face lined with grief, stands at the end of a continent spanning runway, his eighteen gene-sons standing by him side by side, their faces grim and consigned. This was a day of celebration, but also a day of sadness. It was a day to remember Horus Lupercal, the fallen Warmaster, in the throes of the Great Crusade, it seemed madness that a Primarch, let alone the Emperor's favored son could be slain. The Primarchs had gathered here weeks before, debating on the nature of the succession of Horus. After much spirited talk, they now stood by their father, awaiting his final verdict. Stepping along the concrete of the landing strip, the Master of Mankind passed each of his sons, touching their shoulders in gratitude. Halting his march, he turned to Sanguinus, and laid his hands upon his shoulders. "My son, I have thought long and hard about what I am about to do, and all doubt has been replaced by a rigid belief in the rightness of this task. Sanguinus of Baal, I hear by name thee Warmaster, my right hand and fist, master of my fleets, and supreme commander of my Astartes." Where the other Primarchs nodded their approval, only one did so grudgingly. Roboute Guilliman hid a scowl as he bowed his head, it should have been him, not this pompous gene-twist.

Leman noticed the stiff grudging expression on Roboute's face without surprise. A nod of understanding, no more, was all he offered as sympathy before shattering the awkward silence. "Our father has spoken!" he bellowed, "Sanguinous! Sanguinous!" he raised a fist, challenging any assembled to join in the chant louder than he.

As the Emperor spoke, Perturabo looked on with satisfaction. He had been saddened by the death of Horus but was content to serve under Sanguinius, who, in his opinion, was the best choice anyway. Perturabo stepped forward out of the line of Primarchs and turned to his legion of super human Iron warriors, all stood at attention for this grand occasion. Perturabo looked out at his legion and pride swelled within him. He was not a hard man to please, he lived to bring ruin to the enemies of man and nothing more. "All hail Sanguinius, Warmaster of the Imperium of Man!" Perturabo called to his legion. As one the Iron warriors banged their fists on their chest plates and held them out in salute.

"Ave Imperator!" They called in a loud voice that boomed over the plain.

Perturabo turned back to the line of primarchs and saw one in particular looked rather.....output by the outcome of the Emperor's decision. Perturabo looked at Guilliman with little concern. 'The jealous fool' He thought to himself

(by the way I'm a little curious, if Horus is dead, what happened to the Luna Wolves? )

"Long live Warmaster Sanguinus!" Fulgrim called out upon hearing this wondrous news "May the influence of Mankind be spread ever further under your watch. To the Warmaster and the Imperium!" Fulgrim shouted, trying to contain his pride he had. The coronation had brought Fulgrim no small amount of peace. This has been the first good news he had received since the death of his beloved brother Horus and isolation of his father on Terra.

"Long live Warmaster Sanguinus!" Angron shouted and so did the rest of the World Eater legion. Angron still had some disbelief in this new Warmaster , Horus may have been the most favoured son for years but Sanguinus as the new Warmaster worried Angron. He could end the Great Crusade and start a age of peace. Petrurabo , Motorain , Cruze or even that peety fool Guilliman.
"Pathetic" wispered Angron

"long live the warmaster!
Is there going to be cake?"

Jaghatai looked upon the new Warmaster, and shook his head in disgust. In all fairness, he seemed to be up to the task, but Jaghatai thought that Roboute would have been a better choice. This displeased him, but he was unwilling to show this.

He joined in the chant for the new Warmaster.

"Jenghati I voted you friend" whispered*

"Thank you brother, but I do not want the role. I am fine as I am."

Manus silently nodded his head when he heard the name of the new War Master, it wasn't what he had in mind. Sanguinus never seemed to him as the War Master type but he knew he had to respect him as well as seeing the other primarchs and Fulgrim honor Sanguinus. Manus clapped his hands together shouting "Honor to our new War Master." he was still hoping that someone like Dorn took the place.

Angron had grown tierd of this ceremony and returned to his Techmarines who were still working on his new "Improvments" for his men. He and 8 other World Eaters Houner Guard enterd the Techmarine chamber.
"Kain how goes the experemnts?"

Sangunius raised his amrs and silence arose over the scenary.
"Legions of the Astartes hear my word. My father the Godemperor of Man made me Sangunius his new Warmaster.
I have faith in him that he made the right decision and I feel honored by the agreement of my brothers.
But now I do ask the most honorable of all, the Astartes: Who is your Warmaster?"
"Sangunius" "Sangunius" "Sangunius" "Sangunius" "Sangunius" (cheer)
"I do miss my friend and our last Warmaster Horus, he was a friend like no other and in his honor I will continue
and bring to an end, what he started. The Great Crusade of mankind is going to be succesful. I will lead you to
a better future."
Then Sangunius turned around and shook the hand of his brothers and hugged each of them. All even Gulliame seemed to agree now.
Then he and the Emperor left the stage. All the Primarchs followed, but the cheering continued.

Angron wacthed from a distance and spat on the ground.
"Look at them , sucking up to that foolish idiot. He'll lead them to their graves!"
Enraged Angron leaves the area

Rogal Dorn nodded slightly to himself as he followed Sangunius and the Emperor off the stage. Not my first choice, he thought to himself, I would've chosen Guilliman, bust if this is how the Emperor wills it, it must be right. Surely, he knows better than any of us who is best suited to be Warmaster. Thus mentally reconciled with the events, Dorn's thoughts wandered back to his Legion's current actions, the fortification of Terra. Perhaps the slightest twitch could be seen in the corner of his mouth as he thought of the magnificent planet-wide fortress that he was in charge of constructing. Best not get complacent, Dorn continued his mental dialogue, that would bring weakness to the fortress. Something can always be improved.

(OOC: I is sorry i didn't post, busy with stuff Mordo (like working a LARPing system and not spending 24 hours on Dakka like you do!) But as stated, i pick Alpharius and Omegon, and voted, but i realised that voting was futile at this point... But now i'm ready for commands!)

Corax concern with information not known by his brothers was slightly amused with the new congagations of anger and delight. the beast angron was throwing a fit in a shadowy cornor as Sagunius was beeming in excitment practically dancing for all to see. for know finding the one who's planet is doomed is prioity. if they heed my warning then i find myself a freind if not then they are dead. a win in both cases for their future is stilll unknown

Perturabo followed his brothers off the stage to go to wherever the new plans for the crusade were to be drawn, he had a few ideas of his own on how best to bring down the enemies of man. He remembered the way Angron had skulked off 'What's his problem? He can't be happy for one of his brothers for once?' Perturabo thought to himself and then banished the thoughts from his mind. He watched Dorn ahead of him walk forward, he saw that the man was thinking about something intently. 'Probably about his legion's fortifications on Terra, he's always pondering about those. They're good I'll give him that but I could make a grander fortress for Terra than Dorn ever could, you want an impenetrable fortress? Send a man who has laid siege to the greatest and tell him to build it.'

An ocean world, the Laer population centres are based on floating atolls made of a peculiar form of crystal coral. The atolls are holed by a myriad number of tunnels and burrows, with towering spires and narrow streets covering the surfaces. Flaring pillars of energy emerge from the centre of the atolls, directed downwards and upwards; it is theorised by the Adeptus Mechanicus that these pillars keep the atolls airborne. The glare of the energy pillars reflected in the crystal coral, combined with the shrieking of the wind whistling around the towers, make the Laeran atolls a disorienting place to the human senses. As you land, the air shrieks in protest, making your descent slightly more difficult. Landing on the coral atoll, a great cry can be heard, and thousands of serpentine Laer charge your landing platforms.

Konrad as he was walking away whispered a small word into his communicator.

Lion El'Jonson was pleased. Sanguinus, he knew, would allow him to work in the secrecy he desired. It was far better than Gulliman would have done, or Leman. Though they were now friends, Lion still thought that the blood could only flow if there was a measure of law to keep it around. Lion smirked, then walked to his ship, where Luther awaited.

Perturabo's is the first to land upon the world of Laeran, his forces move swiftly off the landing platfroms and push the warriros of the atoll back. They create a landing zone for the siege weapons of the Iron Warrirors to begin laying siege to the cities. Perturabo leaves his first company commander, Captain, Forrix, in command of the siege above ground while he and a small contingent of his most veteran and deadly Iron Warrirors descend into the holes under the atoll to find a way under the city and around the defenders. He brings with him many siege drills and mighty machines of war.

'A siege on two fronts will be over much quicker than one on a single front. Lets see what mettle these heathens are made of.' Perturabo thought as he oversaw the undermining of Laeran's defences.

"He's giving orders already , bahh more slaghter and blood shed"
Angron turned to two eagerly awaiting Apothaceys and Techmarines.
"Sir we have done as you said , the Bezerkers as you call them are ready for battle."
Angron smiled at this , grabing his Chain-Axe he prepares too me the other commanders of the legions
"Remember the Bezerkers are realesed on MY orders! If the others relise what weve been doing.."

The nine worlds of the Atalian Empire are guarded by massive orbital fortresses, each capable of reducing a battle fleet to carbon-scored debris. The Atalians themselves fight in sleek starships that skip across the Warp, appearing in and out of reality seemingly at random and impossible to track with automated weapons. Before any of you can begin an attack on any of the non-compliant worlds, you will fist have to disable the orbital fortresses.

The fetid swamplands of Golmor are rank with the stench of the alien greenskin. The Orks and their degenerate kin swarm in the billions across the grey-green surface of the murky world, having destroyed the Imperial outpost established a century ago. A small Ork 'fleet' hangs in orbit, daring the Astartes to bring war to the swampy planet below.

Fulgrim had called for the most prestigious artist on the expedition to accumulate together on his Flagship. The nature of this meeting was a mystery to everyone on the ship, excluding his lord commanders, who had been consulted on the matter before hand. Fulgrim took a long moment looking over the crowd, to build anticipation for the coming announcement.
"Painters, Asartes, avid listeners. I bring you together today to bring about a change to the legion as a whole." Gasps escaped many in the audience, then a hushed silence fell over all, awaiting for the Primarch to continue.
"When the Emperor first recovered me on Chemos, I was informed that a tragedy had befallen my Legion. After I spoke to the remainder of the Legion my words had touched my Fathers heart. On the spot he declared us the Emperor's Children. I'm not the same man he liberated from Chemos. My Legion has grown and under me, they have prospered. I am no longer a child. From now on, we shall be known as Sons Of The Phoenix." Cheering erupted from the audience. " Now, the reason you're here. I ask this of you, paint the colors fit for the phoenician."

The idyllic forests of Mirian are in full bloom, and exotic flowers gently spiral from the ground from the canopy many miles above. For thousands of years, this world has lain untouched, a paradise in a sea of death. However, after the Imperium arrived on the planet, and established a working society, the Eldar responded. The enigmatic xenos demanded that the Imperium leave the world or face utter annihilation. The Imperials refused, and soon reports of slender figures killing off stragglers in the night began trickling in. After several months, the Imperial presence all but evaporated, taken in the night by bands of alien warriors.

The strange world of Derval seems to be utterly empty, devoid of even plant life, covered in mirrored, hexagonal tiles. What interested the Mechanicum however, was the strange radio signals coming from the interior of the planet. To the horror of the expeditionary force, the tiles uprooted themselves, revealing them to be advanced machines akin to large spiders, which fires streams of silver fire from their legs. The Mechanicum still demands to know what lurks beneath the surface, and the Warmaster has obliged.

Half the World Eaters fleet hangs in a area of unknown space , Angron's plans unknown too the Legion. His anger still burning like a fiestorm over Sangius becoming Warmaster.
"World Eaters are we ready to shed the blood of Xenos!"
"For Angron , for the Emperor!" Shout the masses of World Eater Marines standing before Angron.
"Crush and destroy these Mechanical monstrocietys! burn and destroy the enemy!"
The World Eaters ships prepare to decend apon the planet

(Angron)

The drop pods of the World Eaters smash into the mirrored surface of Derval, cracking the tiles with the force of their entry. Line after line of Astartes march out onto the utterly empty plain, feeling a slight sense of unease. Suddenly, the ground heaves, and thousands of tiles uproot themselves, revealing strange spider-like machines that discharge silver lightning from their forelimbs. The lightning punches through the armor of the Astartes like a blade through paper, killing hundreds in the first volley, their atoms utterly obliterated.

"Blasted machines! and that foolish Warmaster! Order the fleet to bomb the planet and then deploy the Bezerkers! And were are the other legions?"
Angron roars in fury

"White Scars, the World Eaters are already upon this world! But, it seems as if the need our aid! Be fast, be strong, and we will cleanse this world of Xenos! For the Emperor!"

(Angron)

The planet shudders as thousands of tons of atomic death rain down upon it. The landing force is obliterated, as well as the strange robots. New pods slam into the surface, disgorging hundreds of battle-crazed warriors who tear into the machines with brutal chainswords. The tide begins to turn, and the berserkers force the steel tide back.

"YES KILL AND DESTROY!" Angron shouts .
He heads to the hanger with other Bezerkers to begin his assault on the planet. Hundreds of Bezerkers tear through the machines that inhabit the planet , cuting them down with Chainaxe and blade. But as the White Scars arrive they witness the destruction caused by the Blood Crazed warriors of Angron.

(Khan)

The drop pods of the White Scars smash into the surface of Derval, throwing up shards of mirrored metal. The warriors of the Khan are confronted by a strange sight; the Astartes of the World Eaters appear to be in the throws of their famous rages, but this unlike anything the White Scars have ever seen. The frenzied warriors beat wrecked pieces of machinery against the ground, reveling in it's destruction, to their horror, the World Eaters turn on each other, ripping into one another's flesh with their whirring chainblades.

ANGRON 1-10 TO CONTROL YOUR TROOPS!

"ANGRON!" I shout, desperate for his attention. "Scars! Stay back!"

The berserkers, for that is all that they can be called, charge the lines of the White Scars, screaming madly, their blood-greed focused by the appearance of new 'foes'. Throwing themselves into battle, chainblades sever limbs in showers of gore, and the blood maddened warriors continue to press deeper into the ranks of the Khan.

"What Khan? my Warriors have become rage incarnate. Fearless warriors who revel in Blood shed. But it seems you have dissipointed me , leave none alive Slaughter them all!"
Angron charges along side his mad warriors

"What?! You dare betray me Angron! It seems you are dillusional. Be fast and strong Scars!"

"Bring me Khan! He could still be some use to us , and deploy more Bezerkers!"
Angron drives his Chainaxe into a White Scar marines head
"Join me fools and I will spare your lives!"

The Primarch of the World Eaters is terrible to behold, his twin axes coated with gore as he charges the lines of the White Scars. The Scars hold their own, blowing holes in their erstwhile Battle-Brothers, shocked that this battle is even taking place.

(Khan, are you attending this battle personally?)

Rogal Dorn sits on the bridge of the Phalanx, the massive ship and fortress of the Imperial Fists Legion, thousands of light-years from Angron's sudden and unprecedented treachery. The many battle-barges and strike cruisers of the Imperial Fists and the Imperial Expeditionary force accompanying them float through space, beyond the detection range of the hostile fortresses.
A pity we have to destroy such well-placed entrenchments, thinks Dorn, watching the actions of the serf crew around him, but they may be replaced with yet better ones once we own the system. The starships themselves would prove to be another problem entirely; while stealth and speed could disable some emplacements before they even realized they were under attack, the Imperial ships simply could not touch the Atalian vessels. The only sensible plan for hitting the sleek vessels, which were somehow immune to the most advanced cogitators the Adeptus Mechanicus could build and thus impossible to hit with ranged weaponry, was ramming, but it seemed unlikely that the enemy would stay in one place for long enough for such a tactic to work. They had displayed an unnerving ability to skip through the warp, making tactical movements faster than even the notoriously slippery Eldar.
Dorn turns to the vidscreen to his left, which is in contact with the ships of the other Legions assigned to hit Atal. "Bretheren," he begins, "I believe that we must lure the Atailian fleet into close combat and crush it, then use the very planets themselves as weapons; by keeping them between our fleets and the battle stations we will be immune to their fire, and we will sneak Thunderhawks across the atmosphere to hit the stations from below. Then we may begin orbital operations as we see fit. At least, this is my proposal."

Brother most unfortunate news, ill recieved information that your planet may, excuse me, is in trouble. i suggest at the minimal keep whatever are your important assets are on Medusa keep them off. then do your mass evacution, but whatever you wish to do about my warning is no insult to me

Manus paused and took in a breath before looking back at "You better be right. I will order legion to leave bringing as many people as the can. If I cannot get enough ships will order the Mechanicus to give us add. Thank you brother, I must go now I need to follow the Emperor's order's.

Deep in the comm sector of the Phalanx, the astropaths quivered in fear upon recieving the message from Angron's ships. A terrified rating hurried up to Dorn's massive seat. "Ah, sir! Th- the- there's something wrong, sir! The astropaths wish to speak to you, they say it's an emergency!"
Dorn was about to rebuke the serf for daring to violate the Prussic Code that all aboard an Imperial Fists vessel are expected to follow when the rating explains the urgency. The unfortunate fellow barely has time to duck out of the way of the Primarch's path as he takes massive strides to the astropaths' chambers, burnished armor and a golden, eagle-covered bolter clinking gently with each step. Dorn knew of the terrors of the Warp and the Dark Gods that existed within, and anything that the astropaths said could be an issue would need to be dealt with quickly and decisively. Still, nothing could have ever prepared the mighty Primarch for what the chief Astropath told him.
He blanched, something that he had never done before, and sharply demanded that the Astropaths check that it was not some sort of Xenos trick, or perhaps a dread whisper from the Warp itself. When the Astropaths, trembling yet more, informed him that the message carried the stamp of Angron himself, Dorn muttered to himself, "By the Emperor," and turned on his heel, the frantic Astropath running alongside him and explaining that it was an open message to every ship in Imperial space.
This is impossible! Angron had his differences, like us all, but... this is unprecedented! Most of the Imperium have never even heard of the forces of Chaos, and he dumps an invitation on the open Warp? This cannot be his doing. Perhaps an underling, a pskyer or a rogue astropath was possessed and took his key... there is no way a Primarch could turn. No matter what had happened, however, something had to be done quickly. Dorn ordered the Astropaths to send a message to Terra explaining what had been heard and his thoughts on the matter, then he took his seat and turned to the screen connected to his fellow in-system Primarchs.
"Bretheren, excuse my absence, but something of grave and immeasurable peril has occurred..."

Manus solutes Corax and heads out and give his order to evacuate Medusa.

Manus knew that the Iron Warriors knew what they were doing when it came to sieges. He thought the best he could do is add his brother in the fight by sending down to him Land raider, Dreadnoughts and Techpriest to help with heavy support.

Fulgrim distraught by the news brought by the Astropaths considers long and hard what treachery this might be. Fulgrim calls one of his Lord Commanders. "Vespansian, my brother Angron has betrayed the Emperor. I can't sit by and let my other brothers deal with this threat alone. Yet, my attention is needed elsewhere. I have rallied a third of the Legion together to depart to aid the Whitescars and Ravenguard. I'm calling for you to lead them. Depart immediately, time is of the essence. If this is a trick I swear I will make whoever is responsible pay dearly."

Dorn nods, then looks to Alexis Polux, the fifth company captain. "A good idea, Brother Fulgrim. I shall have fifth company go with your men, Brother-Captain Polux shall take the battle barge Hammer of Terra and accompany them." The stern captain nodded silently, and then turned and left the bridge. "The rest of the Imperial Fists and I shall head to Terra post-haste; now that there is the risk of treachery, defending the Emperor must be our main goal. I propose that we leave the Atal to their own devices for now, we may return to them after the present crisis is over."

"You are reaponsible for the defense of Terra and returning to it is a wise choice. Still, we can not shirk the demands of the Warmaster, once these planets are secure we can worry about directing our troops elsewhere. For now, my responsibility lies here. Whatever decision you make I wish you best of luck. We seem to have sufficient forces here already, it will sadden me to miss fighting by your side and seeing the unmovible defense of the Fist first hand, if such is your decision to reinforce Terra."

(Wow, I knew Angron was prone to fits of rage but that was FAST, also I can't really believe that Angron would just go over to Chaos because he was angry, or any primarch for that reason, it should require a little more convincing.)

lucky number 9 for tactics

Perturabo is busy overseeing the siege from his position when his tech marines send him a message they have intercepted. "Uh, sir, you are going to want to listen to this." The tech marines connect Perturabo to Angron's message. Peturabo's eyes grow wide. 'What has that rage filled moron gone and done now?! I swear by all that is holy, he'll pay for that blasphemy.' Perturabo is convinced that Angron is so caught up in the throes of his rage that he cannot control himself, but there is little he can do from here. Perturabo turns his mind back to the siege, afterwards he was sure there would be hell for someone to pay for this debacle Angron had created.

Perturabo orders an orbital bombardment from his fleet to help the siege along, Perturabo needed a quick victory here so he could respond to whatever was happening elsewhere. He sent a message through to the legions that were supposed to be supporting him: He had forced a breach, time to land and finish this world in the name of the Emperor.

(Derval)

The native machines awake to full wakefulness, and charge across the glittering plain, vaporizing both traitor and loyalist alike. A White Scars tanks is sent flying, crashing down in the midst of the World Eater's blood-thirsty mob, crushing those beneath it. A group of several hundred Raven Guard are cut off from the rest of their force by the scuttling robots.

(Perturabo)

The orbital strike levels many of the atoll-cities, and lie bare the Temple of the Laer.

(Fulgrim)

Several thousand of the Atalian fighters begin to 'skip' towards you in azure flashes, emerald bolts being spat from their dorsal cannons.

Fulgrim sends as many fighters as possible to the battle and commands from the flag ships. "Men, find the commanding ship and focus our attention there. For the Emperor and Warmaster!" He shouts in unison with his men.

Hearing of what is happening on Derval, I send 5 squads of my finest.

I gather my forces and set out for the destined planet

With screaming fury, the Night Lords smash down upon the surface of Derval, their Assault Marines tearing the World Eaters to pieces. However, the robots encroaching on the battle seem destined to overwhelm both forces.

The forces of the Alpha Legion break from the Warp, joining the fleets of the Sons of the Phoenix and the Imperial Fists.

Through a Short burst of commands I Tell my units to Attack the machines instead.

The timely arrival of the Night Lords save the Raven Guard from destruction, and destroy many of the infernal contraptions before pushing the World Eaters back. With the force of three Legions against them, the World Eaters are reduced to a mere handful of frenzied killers and Angron himself.

(Fulgrim)

The helmsman points to a slightly larger ship skipping in and out of realspace near the first fortress at the head of the pack.

"Time your shots and identify what is making them disappear. Attempt to take a prisoner, if we know what were fighting, it will make this easier."

Perturabo is advised of the progress of the orbital bombardment, he capitalizes by ordering his units to push forward behind the advance of the small contingent of Iron Hands support units. Together, the units move forward and lay waste to the Temple of Laer. Perturabo's thoughts turn to Angron's situation, he wonders if the man will bow to his father's wishes.

Manus sees Perturabo's advancing actions on Laer and drops down to aid his brother in the assault on the temple.

The combined weight of both the Iron Warriors and the Iron Hands sees the Laer crushed beneath the heel of Imperial might, only the Temple standing in the way of your victory.
The Laer, sensing their imminent destruction, have formed a last offensive, and are massing at the Temple, prepared to fight to the last.

Perturabo laughs with satisfaction, the invasion went well, the siege was almost over and he had pulled it all off practically alone, surely that was an accomplishment. Now sure of his victory, Perturabo lead his men in the final push summoning his best warriors and his most deadly machines of war. Now was the time for champions. He did however, want to show that he could be merciful. He gave the people of Laer one final chance:

"People of Laer, your world is finished, you are surrounded. your leaders are dead and you face annihilation, make a choice now, will you be a part of the great empire of humanity or will you fall to the hammer of the Emperor. Be great or be dead, its your choice."

Perturabo waits with his legion champions, "Wipe them from the galaxy at the first sign of hostility." He tells his first company captain.

(Laeran)

The alien Laer hiss in defiance, charging forth in a great wave, their serpentine bodies undulating as they advance, cutting Astartes in half with wide sweeps of their power weapons.

(Fulgrim)

You capture a single prisoner from a ship that crashed inside the docking bay of one of your ships.

"Interrogate him, I want answers and I want them now. By any means necessary."

(Fulgrim)

As the hours melt into days, your Chief Apothecary, Fabius Bile, walks up to the Primarch of the Sons of the Phoenix. "My Lord Primarch, he refuses to talk, but he requests an audience with you."

Perturabo snarled in righteous anger, he took up his mighty forge hammer 'Forgebreaker' that the late Horus had given to him, equipped in the mightiest tactical dreadnought armor that the smiths of Olympia had ever made, he was a horrible sight to behold. With a barking command he led his veterans in the final destruction of the Laeran people, his final command being:

"Let not one xenos abomination live! DESTROY THEM ALL AND RAZE THEIR BLASPHEMIES TO THE GROUND"

With those words Perturabo waded into the Laerans and began the slaughter

"Fine, if he has the power to walk, you haven't been doing the job expected of you Fabius. Bring him in."

(Fulgrim)

Fabius smiles, "He cannot my lord, we have taken his legs from him." The prisoner is roughly thrown into Fulgrim's quarters by a pair of Astartes, who then leave the room. The prisoner is human, pale, dark-haired, and save himself or the Emperor, perhaps the most perfect human being he had ever seen. "Will you require my services any further my lord?" inquires Fabius from the doorway.

" No Fabius, that will be all." Fulgrim stands and stares down at the man. "I understand you wanted to speak with me."

(Fulgrim)

Fabius nods, and leaves you alone with your guest. He looks up at you with grey eyes, and speaks; "We are not that different you and I. We both crave perfection. This war is pointless, it is a war you cannot win. The ether itself bends to our will, how can you expect to defeat an empire that controls the Warp itself?"

" We will smash your ermpire into dust and engulf your cities in fire. You had the oppurtunity to join us, you chose wrong and now must face the consequences."

Lion El' Jonson, contacted by Sanguinus's call, flies screaming out of the warp.
"Hold Fast Brothers! Angron will die before our might. For Sanguinus, For the Emperor! For the glory of the Dark Angels! Luther, begin the attack! Deathwing, with me. Down with Chaos!!"

"More come to die! World Eaters gut them , burn them and kill them! War and battle are the greatest of all things!"
Angron shouts prasies to Khorne before charging the White Scars lines along with his Elite Guard while his newly arrived forces battle the Night lords and Dark Angels.
"Fight to the last man!"

A Loud voice Booms from a Speaker mounted on one of the night lords. "Angron you fool, you dare think your forces can stop the whole Imperium? You will always fail, as a force we are all too great for you to overcome" With that the voice cuts out, and another order is issued to Konrad's units alone. "Attack, the world eater's, are weak, just take your time and aim perfectly."

"Fight til your last breath! Destroy the traitors! Bring swift death!"

As the Iron Warriors stride into the wrecked remains of the Temple, a powerful feeling of belonging washes over Perturabo, and his eyes are drawn to a perfectly forged blade resting on an altar, it's craftsmanship beyond that he has ever seen.

In the end, the rebellion is quashed, and the World Eaters cast down, their Primarch dead at the hands of the Khan, and their Astartes slain by their former brothers. Across the stars, atomic death rains down upon Fedrehn-Mhor, the birthplace of the World Eaters, exposing the core of the world and ending the lives of the populace. His defeat is utter and complete, with Kharn of the 8th Company refusing to answer his Primarch's orders, and standing against his Legion on Derval. The battle was not without it's martyrs however, and fully a third of the White Scars deployed to the world lay dead, slain by their traitorous brethren.

Lion El'Jonson walks among the dead. His face is serene, though this mind is troubled. "How could Angron have fallen so fast to Chaos? What were the lures?"

Perturabo walks through the blasted temple, he is supremely satisfied with the battle, only a few of his legion was dead and he had done it almost single handedly. Strangely he noticed a sense of belonging within him and was wary of his new feelings as he entered. This WAS the lair of some sort of xenos cult and hence tainted. He did however see the sword and was astounded, he had seen nothing of its sort, not even from the fires of Olympia. Slowly, he picked the sword up and examined it as his captains came and reported to him.

"Raise the flag of the imperium, the battle is won, report to the Warmaster that Laer is his and that we await orders. Let the Imperial army and the mechanicus clean this up, begin getting the men back to the ships, I will be there shortly, I need to have a word with Manus."

With that Perturabo took the sword with him and met with his brother Manus as he arrived.

"Well met brother, you have come a little late I fear though, the battle is over and we are victorious, I do however commend your advance units, they were pivotal for our breakthrough. I must be getting to my fleet now unless there is something else?"

The Sons Of the phoenix make their swift return after the battle to rejoin the bulk of their Legion.

(just saying off topic that i was a bit pissed of the "power" of angron. he fights against 5 legions of the space marines and doesn´t die... well he did now yeah, but i even as beserkers... space marines can die , pretty soon espacially when we are talking about the great crusade and massive titan legions. i mean agrons legion should have been dead after fighting 2 legions... otherwise is the metagame of the campaign questionable. if 1 legions can only be beaten by 5 others i get to friendly legions like fist and wolves maybe angels: declare my indipendence and fight against the rest and say i won. this obviosly not the aim of the game so please make the legions not as hard as angron... and because he is possed doesnt mean his whole legion is! i have to say tho nice character of hoever played angron : good crazyness but hy berserkers are only walking marines with some crazyness and you have a legion of marines not berserkers.... no offense
now to the topic)

I fought sections of the legions! not entire legions and was defeted. Who said Titan legions were their?

Also, you WERE facing entire legions, there was the Scars, the Raven Guard, the Dark angels, and I believe the Night lords that fell in full force. but what perplexes me is that apparently only a third of your legion is dead, which means that the other part was loyalist! )

The Lion returns to his original assignment, waiting for his call to be answered. The victorious dead of the Dark Angels burn on massive pyres, the equipment back on board the ship. The pyres burn for days, before finally flickering out like candle lights.

Manus nodded his head to Perturabo and listened to his words. "No, I am glad they helped you." He then gazed his the new sword "Are you going to take that with you? I guess you deserve it, brother." He smiled and headed back to his fleet.

Kharn is fetched from his ship and now kneels before you on your flagship.

Perturabo salutes his brother and they go their separate ways. Perturabo returns to his fleet with his legions, upon his return to his capital ship, 'The Forge of Olympia' he relinquishes the sword to the techmarines.

"Have it put in a stasis field, it will need to be examined before anything is done with it."

Perturabo returns to his control throne. He orders the imperial army to Laer to garrison it. He orders his fleet and his legion towards Olympia. Perturabo contacts the Warmaster.

"Brother, Laer has been conquered in the name of the Imperium, I and my legion await for further orders. I received your messages about a council and about the Emperor wanting to see Manus and I. I await his audience as well. I must ask you about the situation with Angron, has he been brought to heel?"

Once, all of Konrad's marines had left the surface of Derval, Konrad unleashes a series of large bombings, onto the surface. Afterward Konrad's fleet quickly runs away.

Once again, death rains down upon Derval, once again from the ships of those that were once brothers-in-arms. On the surface below, Raven Guard, Dark Angels, White Scars, and Sons of the Phoenix are pounded by thousands of warheads. Like a massive hammer, thousands of Astartes are obliterated, forever crippling the forces of the White Scars, reducing their numbers to a mere hundred. The ships of the rebellious Night Lords jump into the Warp, pursued by several of the Sons of the Phoenix ships.

Fulgrim's anger was boundless after hearing the betrayal of his brother. "Brothers, Konrad has forsaken the word of the Emperor and then slaughtered countless Asartes. A full one third of my force pursues him as we speak. I will not let this traitor and coward escape. I propose a combined effort from all Legions to contain this treachery. While the death guard began there approach to descend upon the swamp world oh Golmor to rid it of its Ork infestations, Mortarion sat motionless, staring into the empty void of space. grief plastered his face. with the loss of he beloved battle brother Horus, even under the protection and love of the Emperor Mortarion felt distant. "begin the invasion" Mortarion proclaimed " drop the pods... in the name of the Emperor".

Manus returned to his fleet and learned about the events that have unfolded. He was raged and puzzled. He knew this could not stand and when he heard his brother Fulgrim was hunting down Crurze, he knew he needed to step in. Manus ordered a bulk of his fleet to aid Fulgrim so that have a better chance of taking the traitor.

The 5th Company of the Imperial Fists has dropped out of warp on the fringe of the system occupied by most of the Night Lords. Brother-Captain Alexis Polus has his astropaths send an encoded message to the other loyal forces looking for the traitors, containing the location of the fleet.

The forces of the Death Guard and the Ultramarines land on the fetid swamps of Golmor, throwing up geysers of sludge as their drop pods slammed into the surface. Several thousand orks charge the landing positions, firing crude guns and wielding sharp scraps of metal.

The Phalanx appears out of the Warp over Terra. Dorn shuttles down to the Imperial Palace as quickly as he is able and goes to inform the Emperor of what happened on his travels.

i decide that my legion is too wounded to take derval so i retreat to my ship but not leave its atmosphere.

Wait, it sais "THE DOMAIN OF NIGHT IS UPON US", well, isn't Konrad Cruze the Primarch of the Night Lords? And he is the one we are hunting! I think it is something to do with him

You manage to land several of your ships inside the fortress, and begin a boarding action.

Perturabo is waiting in orbit of Olympia when he is told that his legion is fully resupplied, He also gets reports of the pursuits of the crusade. The Sons of the Phoenix were assaulting Atal with cut strength.

"All ships make speed for Atal, we will help Fulgrim and our brothers take it in the name of the Emperor."

The forces of the Iron Warriors burst from the Warp near Atal, finding the sons of Fulgrim already embroiled in a lethal duel against ships that use the Warp itself as a shield.

Perturabo sees the ships of Atal covered in Warp essence

"Take our ships into battle against them, I will take a small boarding party into their main ship, find out how they are shielding themselves, and disable it."

Perturabo summons his veteran units and they undertake a boarding action on the enemy's capital ship as the fleets begin to fire on one another.

Fulgrim and the rest of the Sons Of the Phoenix he had successfully landed in the ship, start fighting to get to the command deck.

I swing in for a brutal charge of flying v, quickly expanding out and around to become a pincer strike on both flanks.

The forces of the Thousand Sons, the Alpha Legion, the Iron Warriors, and the Sons of the Phoenix bring ruin to the first fortress, and commence the attack on the planet below.

The third of the Sons of the phoenix go down the middle after sending smaller ships to take out any guns they can disable/destroy on the capital ships. [This is what my ships are doing at curze control.]

While the Raven Guard hammer the Night Lord's right flank, the Dark Angels are caught in a deadly crossfire, tearing two of their capital ships to pieces.

On Atal, Fulgrim divides his forces into even numbers and launchs at three of the recently undefended planets below. Fulgrim takes his Flag Ship and assaults their Capital planet. While Eidolon leads the fight on one of the planets. Command is given to captain Tarvitz and Lucius on the third to see if there is possibility for promotion on either of them.

Victory is attained on the Atalian capital, (see PM) and the three worlds are brought to heel, but the remaining worlds are preparing for a major offensive.

I reorganize the fleet and set traps for the offensive and ambushs for the offensive.

Diving to aid their brothers, the Iron Warriors fight with fury against the rebels, but their tactics take the loyalists by surprise, and several more Night Lords ships exit from the Warp pouring fire onto the vessels of the Dark Angels and the Iron Hands. Manus' flagship is bored through by a lance, exposing the interior to the void. (See PM, Ferrus)

I send a group of rescue ships to make sure Manus gets out alive.

As the Iron Hands look on in horror as their Primarch's flagship burns, the Sons of the Phoenix cut through the rebel lines, setting their vessels ablaze. Suddenly, a bizarre canister is released from one of the Night Lords ships, detonating without a sound. The currents of the Warp ripple outwards, causing the heads of astropaths and navigators alike to erupt, strange creatures clambering from their corpses.

Several of your ships fail to hold back the monstrous attack, their crews driven mad, the captains overwhelmed by the flesh-beasts.

Perturabo knows that Fulgrim could not handle the Atalian assault by himself. He gets his ships into a defensive line alongside The Sons of the Phoenix and sends his troops down to the capital planet's surface to dig in preparing for a siege. Perturabo joins his legion on the ground and leaves the space defense to his able captains. On the ground he ensures the defenses are strong, wielding his new master crafted sword with great satisfaction of his siegeworks.

'Let those heretics try to land, they will face nothing but death at the hands of the Iron Warriors!'

Perturabo thinks of the absence of the Alpha legion, his mind races with the possibilities.

"Perturabo to all units in the Atal campaign, be wary of the absence of the Alpha legion. I smell more treachery afoot."

Seeing the amount of units sent to down Konrad, he sends a message to his fallen brothers.
Brothers, I have not meant to make war, I wanted to separate form the false emperor, please stop your attack on my small empire.

You acuse our father of killing two of his beloved sons and then you go off to form some mock Imperium. Death is to good for the likes of you Konrad. The Emperor Of Mankind will make you answer for your actions."

As Farrus walks his way to Fulgrim. "We need to crush this bastard! Death will be the only fate for him."

"Manus sir, Fulgrim gave direct orders that the traitor is wanted to be brought before the Emperor for his supreme judgement." Vespansian managed to get out. A Primarch draws such awe from the mortal man, even the Asartes. Even though Vespansian had spent a great deal of his time with his own Primarch, the magnitude of the situation was not lost on him.

"Then I will order the rest of my forces here. I would like to have a word with them and lead them into victory!"

"Yes sire," Vespansian said, ragaining his cool " we have an opening your men could fill in our fleet after we lost a few ships to these warp beast."

As the incoming strike approaches a large wave of land to space weaponry is fired at the ships. Along with several orbiting ships attacking.

While several loyalist ships are destroyed, the barrage sent by Curze do little to stop their vengeful advance. Countering with a withering orbital bombardment, drop pods slammed into the surface of Nostramo, Astartes pouring out to bring justice to the rogue Primarch.

"Find the coward and break both his legs and both his arms!" Vespansian yelled at the head of the charge.

"Khan, rest brother. We will bring the traitor to justice. Return to your home world for now, replenish your numbers.There will be more opportunities for glory to come."

As you land, you can see a great fortified wall stands between you and Curze.

The Astartes hold their own, but are in danger of being overwhelmed by the Atalians numbers.

Vespansian orders all fleets and ships to send a barrage against the wall and Curze's fortress. As soon as the barrage stops, the Asartes will charge in the slaughter the survivors. On Atal Fulgrim try's to rally his forces to fight harder and sends himself and a few squads ithrills at the main Atalian ship to breach it and take control. 5

( As I, Khan am now falling back to rest and to let my remaining forces recuperate, shall I just wait until I am to do something?)

Gentlemen,

This thread was a golden dream spun of pure light and imagination, a beacon of awesome in a sea of mediocrity. But the dream is becoming corroded with silliness. I propose that we kill the thread for a short time, gathering new players to fill the empty slots, and start this over again without the shenanigans. Those of you already playing, you can keep your current Primarchs, or change them if you wish. After a time, I will reanimate this thread, starting afresh from the ashes of the original. This time, the heresy will be done right, this time, the traitors will THINK before they turn their backs on the Emperor. All in favor say aye.
