A. a kid whose mom tells him that he is special, unique, perfect, etc

B. a person counting on people to look only at the first picture so they dont get a good look.

cool idea though.

There was apparently a HUGE deep strike mishap- and those figs all deviated right into the Suck-Bucket.

Seriously- they look like they were dipped in white house paint.

I understand that someone loves them and put some effort into them- but you have to be realistic when you slap a 400$ minimum on something like that.

The effort required to make those figs usable- drops the value immensely. I might pay 40$ tops. cant see what sort of assembly mess is under that super think paint.

Wow, the close-ups are terrible. These may be the ugliest painted marines I've ever seen.

These need striping or better yet, melting down. I would love to know how they came to $400 though, should be an interesting story.

The seller also has several other army lots for sale all with very very horrible paint jobs. Apparently they never got the thin your paints and shading/highlighting memos.

At least they're not listed as 'pro painted'. If he didn't provide pictures I'd go along with the bashing but the auction is up-front an honest. Don't buy it if you don't think it's worth it but there's no need to be so harsh. Some people are better than others at painting and I've definitely seen worse.

The AT-ST sentinel conversion is actually pretty cool, if not painted well...

There seems to be a lot of armies of various crappiness, and some not that bad + lots of comics. It could be a "comik book store guy" that also sell and buy kids armies second hand (the fenomena exists in my town). And since he dont really know the worth of GW stuff, he just calculates the price for an equal army bought from GW, and add some because its already painted. Or something (also explain the bold closeups

Edit. If so, I hope he buy this stuff for 200, and think hes going to dubble it on e bay (most likely not thoug)

One of the black troopers actually has crisp painting on the shoulders, eyes, and symbol. I think he might have been drunk painting that one.

Would it even strip off? Looks like latex house paint. Ya' know I feel kinda like a jerk for pointing out a mould line on an otherwise nice mini. The bar has just been lowered.

I feel sorry for the kid who did this. He's either really young or has a mental defect. And the worst part is, he thought he could sell it so pricey. Either he's blind or his mum insisted it was good painting and that he could sell it for so much.

I think they were painted with tempera paint. Really thick, cheap stuff you get at the dollar store that they let you paint with in elementary school.

On the bright side, all you'd have to do to strip the paint off is dunk them in soapy water, haha.

This guy should pay me $400 to take it off his hands and suffer the embarassment of owning it. I like to encourage people normally and prefer to help, but on this occassion i cant help but laugh my arse off at that price tag.

At least you can see most of the details! That one could be redeemed if you used really thin paint. But the two bounty hunters need to be purge with fire.

I don't know...I guess people around here are worse painters than anywhere else in the country...this is far from the worst paintjob I've ever seen. And while $400 dollars is pretty steep, I have to wonder what all of those models would cost new. I don't know off the top of my head.

Well if it truly is your action to you yes it may be worth $400, and you may have spent several heart full hours painting this army putting as much detail into each model as you could. There is a big difference of quality of the paint job verses the cost and when a potential buyer comes accost a themed star wars army for $400 they will expect a decent quality paint job. Where it got you was that in the close ups the paint jobs on many of the models was very patchy and flat and rather thick paint with not much detail into each model, while you may have painted in the defining features for many of the themed models. Much of the detailing some one would expect of a $400 dollar themed army was simply not there.

Why isn't it legit? The person has 100% good feedback on similar items like a Salamander Marine that sold for £260.

If i was running a painting class i would give him a c-(im being very nice). great idea but crud presenting. Why does

It just seems...off. They're only asking for $30 odd (thats australian dollars) for a golden demon quality mini.

You know one of the things to look out for on ebay is people getting their friends to outbid everything and then just giving them their money back and getting top feedback. It happens.

To add some technical advice, in order to aid improvement, to my earlier post I would like to suggest trying finger painting first. When you have mastered that, move on to wax crayons (the chunky ones first) then move onto to the finer pointed wax crayons. Only then will you be ready to tackle flat colours on model airplanes........................

I would have to agree that the walker looks possibly the best. Although the size of it would bug me constantly.

As for the rest of the army, I feel that letting an unsupervised child have it would be sufficient, only a model or two to a child (to keep them away from your good models, naturally. Such sacrifices must be made, but it's best to choose the unfavoured). To be played with, to be abused, smashed, and ruined in only ways that children know how to do. And at the end of his torments, the model would either be left in the bottom of a lego box to be forgotten for all time, or the child will get into the hobby himself, and paint new models. And his paint skills will improve. And so, the model will sit there in a vast sea of very well painted models, left in his original paint scheme untouched, because of sentimental value.

Naturally, either he will fail all rolls in depression. Or suffer stockholm syndrome and roll insanely well. To know only one thing: Should he succeed, he will only ever play in casual games, never in a tournament due to his paintjob.

Wow...And I thought I was a bad painter....

I know I've already posted, like, 4 times but it makes me sad that this topic has gotten 50+ posts in two days. Oh well, bad painting is quite entertaining, isn't it?

I dont care if the guy who painted it is a 1 year old with no brain, that paintjob is just pathetic.
But this does make me feel a lot better about my painting skills.

The jawa road kill is worth $400.

I wont rag on the paint jobs except to say that a black prime and painting the face probably doesn't count as a conversion in most circles >.> $400.00 for the lot is pretty off the wall though.

I've never really looked for 40k stuff on ebay before, but pawing through some of the linked auctions leads me to believe the term "Pro-painted" seems to have a really wide margin of actual expertise lol

A while back there was a link to an ebay tau army that was painted up in something of the worst scheme I have ever seen.
Anyone remember it or can point me to the pics, it got quite a laugh from people here.

That's a pretty bad picture,but I can tell it's a sucky paintjob. I'd still buy it,if he cut down the price by like 300 dollars,XP

Painting like that makes the baby jesus cry. Or at least it makes GW employees cry.

I really enjoy the painting mastery on display here. I mean, I wasn't even aware you could get the paint to go on that thick. Of course it could be that they didn't have any glue and that is what is holding them together. Hey, maybe we could get their address and mail them a big bottle of simple green and a bucket.

And if its a kid its a really really young kid. Even my 10 year old would be throwing some dry brush and washes around, and don't drowning the poor marines.

I lol'd.

That isn't an at-st, I forget the name of that particular type of walker, though that one isnt particularly bad unlike some of the others.

For instance, check out the $590 Tyranid army from the same seller. The carnifex is pretty horrific. Looks like they got part way through a depaint and then just went crazy with the red white and blue straight onto bare metal.

Ok that Pariah isnt good, but its not terrible. It looks like something my nephew does when he isnt trying his best.(hes 9) the black is on decently, and the red is just random, you can tell. So I wouldnt call it terrible, just not taken the time. Now Ive prepared a picture to detail just how aweful this is, please flip open to page 1 of the pamphlet I provided, as well as swallow the "magic pills" Ive provided, and Ill show you my point



Ok starting with
#1 Notice that the visor looks like it was painted on with lipstick. Not only that but the black section for the visor is actually separated from top and bottom
#2 There is so much paint, the arm is now fused with the torso. Epic.
#3 Oddly enough, 3, has 3 arrows, following how the legs and cod piece, are now the leftlegcodpiecerightleg, with no definition left. This guy is looking like a chaos spawn, and not a marine
#4 Again so much paint, the kankles(yes kankles) are fused together. This spawn will trip if attempting to chase down something.
#5 Look closely youll see that there is a dark green color under that blob of crayola paint job. Infact youll notice it in other pictures. I think they were once Dark Angles.
#6 So much paint, the shin guard and foot are now a Kankle.
#7 Ronald McDonald smiling? Nope, Boba Fetts visor here, also notice the crest on the helmet, is ROUND. How did that happen?
#8 Sure tis a small thing to miss for a beginner, but hey if Im changing rolls to insulting artistry Im going all out.
#9 Just like #2, the arm has fused with the torso.

So, unless you find the Tau devilfish that looked like someone bought all the GW paints range, set them on top of said fish, and then shot it with buckshot, you wont find a worse paint job on Dakka. Its not possible. But Ill give you some help in finding it, the guy here on dakka, bought it from Ebay, and we were stunned at the horrors
