Apparently there was a GW meetup in Vegas this past weekend and Inquisition was pushed to the front of the 40k lineup, with Dark Eldar pushed into 2011. Read this on Warseer and another forum. Take as much salt as you want.

Salting away. I don't really care, as long as DE gets out by the end of the year.

Wonder what the cause for switch would have been. Was the "meetup" a tournament and everyone brought Leafblower? Then they said, "Oooookay, we gotta do something about these Mystics."

What, DE "delayed" again?

*This* is why some of us require something a little more substantial on the DE front.

It's still a fuzzy picture over there.

I'm still betting DE next after WFB.

It makes sense from a marketing standpoint. This summer they will be pushing Fantasy pretty heavy, but they don't want to completely abandon 40k.

A Grey Knights codex won't need a whole lot of boxes or sprues. One Grey Knight box, one arbites/stormtrooper box, an upgrade sprue for Deathwatch (if they are even in there), and maybe a box of terminators, and you're done.

That would keep the 40K folks happy without stepping on fantasy sales at all. Then by Christmas, when the initial Fantasy fuss has died down, they can release the entirely new line of Dark Eldar. The size of the line is probably the reason they are delaying it till Christmas, so it's not competing with their Fantasy promotion.

Lulz, good stuff.

Everyone brought mech IG w/ mystic support....except for the marketing exec who brought all Khorne Daemons. 4 hours later, Inquisition moved up the release ladder.

This bears the stink of 'obscure rumor from an unreliable source'. If GW wanted to publicize such an announcement, don't you think they'd... you know... Publicize it? I mean this sounds like the kinda thing BOLS would immediately slap on their front page if it had really happened, and Yakface would be floating around saying "Yes, it has been confirmed."

To my knowledge, GW likes to unveil things at big events and GDs and such... Not whisper about a big new release to some random kids and send them off to start threads about it in the 'News and Rumors' of a couple forums... "Yeah! That'll get the fans fired up!"

If GK do come out first, I will regard this rumor as having been a lucky guess. Along with any predictions about what we're getting next until we have the word from GW itself.

The reason for taking the Inquisitor is far more the psychic hood than the mystics, and a great way to get cheap plasma-totting veterans. Mystics are just icing; deep striking dreads or termicide squads are not uncommon, and introducing them to a vendetta or executioner before they melt your expensive artillery is worth a mere 12 points.

Yeah, seriously. How many rumors end up being wishlisting in the form of "Redshirt Bob totally told me that separate Tomb Worlds are getting their own codices"?

I have *never* had mystics do squat for me, and I don't take them any more. Mystics are not even close to the reason why Leafblower destroys.

unfortunately, that info is old. the taros campaign book was released BEFORE the tau empire codex and included some of the crisis suit options that weren't in the original tau codex. since FW knew what was coming out, they incorporated it instead of publishing a $75 book with units that are outdated in a few months.

I have it on good authority that Dark Eldar are the next army to have a new Codex. This is apparently to be released in conjunction with some fantasy rules/models update.
This will be in a few months & apparently they are being 'test' played atm.

After that Black Templars are to be re-done. This will happen towards the end of 2010. (Another Marine Army! - I guess they need it though)

The next big thing is to be Necrons towards the start of next year.

I hope that this brings excitement to many & again, is not old news.

No dark angels update this year? ;_;

While DA's may not have the greatest codex, keep in mind they are only 3 years old, expecting an update before mid/late 2011 or 2012 is unrealistic. Like it or not they *are* one of the newer armies, even if they aren't really all that great. There are many armies ahead of them in line and in more dire need of an update.

Yes, I understand. Read Terminus' post above. Mystics are not about "destroying", they're about defense. Dropping in Terminators/Long Fangs Packs w/Logan/Dreadnoughts or anything else that can blow a hole in your tightly packed Leafblower defense can wreak havoc on a leafblower set up, especially if it's the manticore, the executioner, valks or vendettas. You name it. All Mystics do are keep podders/deep strikers at bay. And if they are unlucky enough to get within 4D6" of your Mystics, your Executioner gets 5 nice little Str 7 Ap 2 blasts at them. And that's for every squad podding in.

However. . .my post was a joke anyway.

Actually I posted this as a full quote two days ago in the current DE and GK threads ( http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/180/291960.page ), must have missed this three week old thread

Reactions on that post on Warseer showed that no other source from Las Vegas mentioned these informations. And the reliable source Daemon Prince Adramalech didn't believe anything except that GK are next and Sisters have a separate Codex.

Counterpoint: GW as of late has become adept at keeping information about upcoming releases under lock-and-key, so perhaps we're lucky to have gotten even that much?

Interesting if true, either way.

It was a conference for retail management and it was in Las Vegas. GW North America used to have them annually, but recently it was decided that these conferences would be quarterly. I've talked to many employees who have attended the Vegas conferences over the past few years and the emphasis at those meetings is on running the business, not new product. Obviously when new product is mentioned or discussed with the people in attendance, being that they are shop mangers they are usually smart enough not to discuss anything they are not supposed to discuss afterward with customers.

The past year or two GW has also gotten a lot tighter about how far ahead they let any of their retail staff know much about upcoming releases in order to clamp down on leaks.

This makes sense to me. I would prefer DE sooner, rather than later, so that I could collect, model, paint, and get some games in before next year's pre-'Ard Boyz tournament run, but whatever. Personally, I don't know many folks who are that interested in GK, but we'll see if folks jump to them when the codex gets released. Frankly, this tight-lipped policy by GW creates more harm than good, especially since they are pulling Inquisition and DE products off the shelves anyway, so there are really no sales to lose.

I'm trying not to resign hope until we have official word...
But at the same time, I know GW well enough to know that, as a DE player, I should brace myself for disappointment once again as, despite all the recent hype being the perfect time to announce DE, GW releases a 4th consecutive imperial army.

If that ends up being the case, GW can indeed go #$%@ themselves...
