Hmmm...for your Contemptor, maybe stick a forgeworld Khorne Berzerker/terminator head in there, and add the "fins" from the plastic ones to the archway above the head? Also, bladed/clawed hands anda t least ONE big axe/chainaxe is a MUST.

Not a painting update today as I'm out all weekend at a tournament.

Here's a few pictures of the army in action. It was 1500 points my army list I think is a few pages back.

Round one was Dawn of War and I was up against a Deathwing Terminator army. I got totally massacred due to not being able to get past all those Storm Shield saves.

Game two and my forces were up against the ork hordes the mission was the one where you have to use opposite corners, I forget what its called. My Raptor squad led by the Sorcerer did an outstanding job this game taking out two huge units of orks about 15 models each and a unit of 10 gretchin in close combat before being taken out by Thrakka. We managed a draw in this game as we both ran out of troop units to hold objectives.

Game three was up against a mobile Chaos force with Plague Marines and Khorne Berzerkers in the colour of Iron Warriors. I had real problem taking out all the transports letting the berserkers get into close combat taking out most of my force. I had one model left at the end of the game the Necrodefiler, as you may have guessed it was a lose for me.

I'll post some pics of tomorrws games as well

Great thread!

Nice paint job on the dc marine, although he looks a bit clean for a dead guy!

P.s he's also now very happy, cause he's dead! For that he thanks you!

Ok time for some pictures of todays games.

Game 4 vs Ultra Marines

This game started quite bad for me when the Dreadnought deep striked in a drop pod on my opponents firs turn in front of my defiler and took it out with a multi melta (destroyed). Its actually in front of it but we put to the side as it wouldn't balance on the hill. I was lucky my Havoc squad disabled the dreadnought so it wasn't going anywhere.

The land raider was a right pain I didn't have the weaponry to spare to concentrate fire power between it and the other units after the defiler was destroyed. The Raptor squad on the left with the sorcerer managed to flank him and take out his terminator and sternguard squads in close combat.

Here's my pic for the best army award only problem is that I was in the corner facing the wall which according to the regulars is the worst place as no one goes round that side of the table. The best painted army went to the person I played played in game 1 the Deathwing army which was cleverly converted Orks, 2nd place went to the Ultra Marine player I just played.

Game 5 vs Space Marines

Well I did really poorly this game I was up against a bike/speeder army I couldn't get in range on my turn and then in came the bikes and I couldn't stop that much fire power and that was pretty much it. The Raptors/Sorcerer couldn't get into combat as the bikes kept running from them. My dice rolls were terrible this game which didn't help but my army was too slow to make a difference vs the bikes.

Game 6 vs Orks

Well I managed to get to the bottom table in the last round of the event.

It was dawn of war and I was up against the same Ork player I drew with yesterday so I had an advantage as I knew how to fight da boyz.

The game started off like this notice the position of the Raptor/Sorcerer unit on the right flank.

A few turns in and the game looked like this

Spot the Raptor unit with the Sorcerer and yes they killed all of the Ork units including the ones in front of them in this pic. The rest of the army destroyed the tanks and nobz (in the Deathroller) followed by poor old Thrakka standing by his lonesome in this pic. I tabled him and lost three Raptors.

Well I had an excellent weekend and learnt lots of things.

1. My Sorcerer needs to be equipped with Melta Bombs.

2. I need to be able to mobilize my troops faster, thinking Rhinos here.

3. I hate Storm Shields on terminators.

4. Chaos Marines on bikes with Meltaguns and Mark of Nurgle could be very useful.

There were quite a lot of different armys this weekend but I did notice a lack of Necrons, Sisters of Battle and Tau. I don't know what came first but second place went to an Eldar player.

Most valuable unit goes to the Raptors with the Sorcerer for taking out a good few thousand points worth of troops over the weekend.

Yeah the Necrodefiler was a great hit everyone said how nice it was.

Miss Dee wrote:Get the Latest FW Land Raider tank, ok It is a pain to fill the gaps but the 1k sons had some according to the fluff

The only problem with Chaos Land Raiders is they can only fire one weapon if they move, I'm not sure if they are worth the points. Armour value 14 is nice though.

Thanks Gits, it appears I need to work harder though for best painted army next time with the Khorne marines. I need to find a partner to team up with though to be able to play in the November event.

I wasn't worried about winning any games this time round it was more a watch and learn session. I just plan on going to have fun and to keep trying for the best painted army trophy, one day it shall be mine

Don't feel bad about not being best painted. My Mantis Warriors have been in 4 local tournaments (at least) and have never won best painted. Now, I take nothing away from the armies that won... as a matter of fact I voted for each of the winning armies myself... but armies that look great in close-up on the web don't always translate into mass-appeal on the table.

I've done some more work on the Contemptor Dreadnought tonight, but then again I haven't shown you any WIP shot yet have I.

As its chaos I'm not going for a clean look more of a well I'll let you decide what kind of look it is. This picture was taken at night with a spot lamp about an inch away from it, that's how I'm going to spend the rest of the year painting in the evenings. Keeps me warm though. Because of the closeness of the lamp the colours are quite a bit brighter than they look in day light.

Enough of my ramblings here you go World Eaters Contemptor Dreadnought WIP shot.

Did you make out the Khorne symbol?

I stand corrected. That pose is lookin' very menacing from the front! I think the color really brought it together, and I like 1) the color of the limbs not being the same as the chest, and 2) said-chest looking very battle-worn.

And the symbol is also lookin' sweet.

I had an idea to mount these guys on beasts of nurgle for The Reborn marines I have planned, not sure though as they are not the fastest of creatures. If I did Thousand Sons ones I know a guy who does some very nice Kiwis that are the perfect size for marines.

I don't think they are as bad as that site makes out. Having just played with them they are quite good, they are a very strategic unit.

The glow was all done by drybrushing starting from the darkest colour, and then building up to a lighter colour when you get closer to the light source

Yeah it was once you start there's no going back, its not something I could just paint over and try again.

That's a stunning idea I just picked up some magnets and I have a spare Dark Eldar as well. I should be able to slide a small magnet under this guys back pack and one up inside of the dreads fist along side the twin bolter.

Thanks will play with this idea tomrrow

It worked a treat dantay the DC marine is now held in place via a magnet.

I was going to post a pic of the Khorne Berserker I finished today until I realised I'd forgotten to do the verdigris on the armour, of course I realised after taking the pics and uploading them to dakka. So today we have a work in progress Berserker lol, also noticed a few bits that need touching up.

I went for the same paint scheme as the dread although I'm not sure if it looks old and worn or just badly painted, took ages to get it like this though so all thoughts welcome.

I've also been ordering stuff for what would be the next project after Khorne but its all gone a bit wrong and I now have a few bits to start me off for two armys coming Skyrar's Dark Wolves and Grey Knights. No idea why and how the Grey Knight stuff got into my head I wasn't even planning to do them!

On top of that I have lots of ideas for my Nurgle (The Reborn) force and pre Heresy Dark Angels. Not enough time money or hours in the day. I have other army's I want to do as well but I'm not letting myself think about those, especially those Orks

I finished the World Eaters Berserker tonight this time for real. I need to re-paint the one I did a few pages ago as he was done in a different style based on my test marine.

Here he is all finished, I will be adding gloss to the tear drops when I varnish the unit when its finished.

I've also been looking into forest bases for doing my Dark Wolves which is the next project. There's not many nice ones out there I like some of Micro Arts stuff but when you consider you have to base at least 1500 points worth of troops for a mid sized game it starts to look really expensive.

So I've decided for that project to do my own trees and ruins on the bases , scary stuff as I can't even do green stuff work apart from filling in holes. So I will be attempting to follow in the footsteps of our very own Terraformer. I will be ordering some bits tonight and then in...however long it takes to paint 900 points of World Eaters will give you all a good laugh with my dodgy ruins and trees. Looking forward to it to be honest, gives you something to look forward too lol.

That would work as in the Space Wolves fluff, a Wolf Lord can leave the Chapter and take his company with him if he so wishes.... the idea is that he has some great mission to accomplish or that he has fallen out with the Great Wolf and wishes to take hi pack away. The only reason that the departing Wolf Lord is not instantly destroyed by his brothers is although he has foresworn his oath to the Great Wolf, he keeps his oath to remain loyal to Russ and the Allfather In that way there splinter groups of Wolves throughout the galaxy, so nobody knows how many Space Wolves there really are.

Its not beyond the Wolves to turn to Chaos, after all Lufgt Huron has a contingent of them with him after conquering a SW ship. There could be a number of reasons for turning from the Emperor. Lol better check its a good doggy before you go near or he might bite your face off!!!

Have you checked winterdynes blog on the Space Hulk terminators that he did, they were jungly based and absolutely rocked.

risewiththefallen wrote:How do you paint your red???

From black primer its as follows all Vallejo paints

A base coat of 50% Black 50% Heavy Red Mix
Then 25% Black 75% Heavy Red mix painted from the top of each armour section downwards but not all the way to the bottom of the section you are working on, keep it uneven.
Next using the same technique as above but with watered down Heavy Red, do this twice each time not going down the armour plates as far.
Next pure Heavy Red in downwards strokes again but only go down a little bit this time, acts as your highlight.
Finally a wash in GW Baal Red.

Its important to paint in downwards strokes on each armour piece to get the right effect, feels a bit odd to start with but you get used to it.

Vallejo paints? I pretty much just use GW paints as I find they are pretty good quality, in fact they are the only model paints I have used since i stopped using humbrol enamels when I was 12 or so.

How do they stack up against GW paints in quality/ colour match/ quantity/ price?

MOney is getting tight so it may be time to consider alternatives.

I find Vallejo better in every way compared to GW paints. They apply better as the pigment ratio is higher (game colour), have a wider range of colours especially if you include the model colour range. You will find the metallics so much easier to work with and the paints come in dropper bottles, easier for mixing.

Also the price is a lot cheaper £1.57 each from Maelstrom Games (http://www.maelstromgames.co.uk/index.php?act=cat&cre=hob-val&sou=cat). I still stick with GW washes as they are great but thats it. I've just ordered a few different types of Vallejo paints to experiment with, some of their liquid gold and a few different colours from their transparent range.

Here's a compatibility chart to help your move over if you decide to give them a try.

Hi all

This week I have for you a Flawless Host Sorceress who we be leading the berserker boys into battle.

I found this mini hard to paint as its all detail no plain surfaces to to any blending etc on.

I'm still not quite happy with the white yet, looks ok in real life just a little boring.

Cheers happygolucky she is starting to grow on me, I think I'm not used to bright paint schemes. She really stands out next to the berserkers I've done so far.

As a mistress of Slaanesh I think she will do just fine.

Yes I have found that When I first did bright colours, it was a bit dodgy but now its ok.

If you want a different type of bright colour that isnt pink I usually base coat my troops hawk turquoise then a heavy drybrush of ice blue.

Hope this helps.

I'm back this week with some more Berserkers for you, first off the second half of the first unit is now finished (I need to go back and do the teeth).

I've also put together the second unit, these guys are really blood thirsty. I managed to stab myself in the thumb with my knife and also get a piece of resin in my eye. I just hope they take this attitude to the battle field.

A quick recap on the small World Eater force. The first unit and dread are finished and their Slaanesh leader from the Flawless Host. I also painted one of the obliterators I'll be using a while ago.

So whats left for the 900 points to paint is the second berserker squad, another Obliterator which I've kind of started and two Rhinos. I have the first still boxed up as I want to order some FW doors and dozer blades when I get paid next along with the second Rhino.

Not quite sure what else to do with the rhinos, I will be adding lots of marine helmets from different chapters as trophy's and I expect some suklls as well.

I've just finished what I had planned for this month so anything else is a bonus it also leaves me time to paint other models that are not part of the project or red in this case lol.

WIP shots of my Obliterator, I'm trying to get the feeling that the runes on the armour are fully activated trying to burn out the Chaos abomination within.

But a diseased Stern is not going to give up the fight so easily.

So the question is do the runes look like heated metal, I know I need to tidy up but wanted an opinion before I carried on.

Thanks

Very cool effect. Perhaps if you made the diseased areas discolored near the burning plates it would help the illusion.

Thanks tipios, glad you're liking the berserkers. Theres a few more of those to come yet and some spectacular Rhinos for them when I get all the bits.

Yggdrasil wrote:The "melted metal" armour parts are awesome ! How did you manage this effect ?

Hi Yggdrasil its an honour to have you on my blog, I love your minis they are top notch.

The melted metal effect was a strange one

I started out doing the effect the wrong way from a watered down white adding a yellow ink wash and then watered down Blood Red, looked awful.

So I then remembered my mistake going from light to dark should have been dark to light.

To fix it and this is how I will do the plate I missed. Watered down white wash over the runes (didn't do this bit to fix it) then watered down Hot Orange, while still wet I applied watered down Bald Moon Yellow. Finally when dried a very watered down white to the middle of the rune sections. All Vallejo paints.

Hope this helps

Well you guys have inspired me to continue painting the obliterator into the night tonight.

I've done the runes I missed on the front plate and added OSL under the powerfist and along the armour edges. also a bit on the flesh to make it glow a bit.

Here he is at present

Let me know what you think.

Well, I have to admit I like it...

I'm not fond of most Obliterator models, and honestly I think it looks too much like a "CSM with fleshy weapons", modelling-wise. As most Obliterator models do, so that's not quite a problem, actually, as it comes from me.

However, the painting screams "Tzeentch" so much, it's definitely hot !
The contrasts between pink, orange & blue is great, I love it !

NB : I didn't think someone could be "honoured" to have me as its reader lol...

Thanks Ygg's

A question today rather than an update. As the nights are drawing in and its starting to get cold outside I'm starting to wonder how long I have left before I'm no longer able to spray undercoat my minis in the garden (that's between rain showers, I love the UK).

I've been looking around and have found that Vallejo do a black polyurethane primer that you can apply with a brush. Has anyone used this and is it any good? I may need to do tanks with this as well.

Thanks

Man... you've been busy... Great figure, and the heated effect is a nice touch. I like the narrative that his armour is fighting off the disease...

I unfortunately don't have a solution for your primer problem but face the same kind of crap weather in Chicago like snowstorms and ice. Does the cold affect the primer's attachment to a mini? And I've not used the paint-on primer, as I like the uniform finish of an aerosol, and the fact that it lessens the chance of having covered it with too much... I'll be watching (and commenting) on your space for any good advice.

When's an update not an update? When it has no pics, they will follow tomorrow though as my camera battery's are charging!

So an update none the less the Obliterator was finished on Monday but its too dark at night for pics so I will have some for you tomorrow.

I've managed to get a doubles partner for the end of November for my next tournament so the pressure is on to get the rest of my small World Eater force painted.

The Warmill guys are doing me some custom doors as we speak for the two Rhinos, just seen an example of the top hatches and they look fantastic. The First rhino is nearly finished (without doors) and the second I'm waiting for it to be sent out at the moment.

The first rhino is looking quite excellent at the moment, I have a question though to tide you over till the pics tomorrow. The rhinos will be sporting quite a few trophy's (helmets) from chapters they have crushed on the field of battle. I worked it out currently there are 10 on each Rhino two of which are Blood Angel helmets of some sort as I have tons of those. But what chapters should I do the others?

I need about 16 different coloured chapter helmets so thought I'd throw the choice out to you all for some ideas.

Just remembered one is a Tzeentch helmet so that leaves 15. I might also look out for an Elder helmet as well, already have a Dark Eldar helmet on the current one.

Ok here's a peak at the first World Eaters Rhino.

The skull idea from the front was borrowed from GuitaRasmus's blog.

You cant tell me you are supposed to fit 10 marines in here, there's only just room for one berserker and then he's too big and has to go open topped.

Hi an update with pictures today.

I finished the Obliterator a while ago but hadn't had the chance to take any pictures so here you go. The tentacles on the back of the base have water effect on them, they look more slimey in real life and you can see where its dripping off.

I've also been cracking out some more berserkers, well I say cracking its taken me most of the week to get them done. This is squad Beta designated by their grey helmets.

The first guy needs a few touch ups I've just noticed!

In regard to the Dark Wolves project I wanted to get them painted up for the next tournament after the November one. This has just been confirmed as some point in February and will be 1750 points. I cant paint that many minis in a few months or afford them either to be honest, so the project has gone on the back burner. You may see some models being painted up and converted still as I have already purchased some for the project.

What this does mean is that the Chaos army will be getting reinforcements, I'm currently looking at the below new units to add to my existing models.

Khorne Daemon Prince - Needs painting
World Eater Vindicator - heavily converted
Flawless host (Slaanesh) Terminator Unit - Again lots of conversions planned
Chaos Space marine unit and Rhino - These will be for The Reborn chapter and both marines and Rhino will be FW, if the new (old) style is released in time.

It doesn't look a lot but with how slow I paint and how much all the conversion bits will cost it will take me right up to the deadline.

Once the Chaos army hits 2500 (I think that will be the following tournament) I should be able to start the next army, its going to be a bit longer than I wanted. Also there is the possibility of a new Chaos Codex in March as well!

I also have a strange idea of making a Tzeentch Rhino with one of the Warmill see through acrylic top hatches of a Tzeentch symbol. If I black out around the symbol and put a blue LED inside it might be quite cool. I have no knowledge of electrical stuff though

Cheers happygolucky I wasn't sure but really like them now as well.

Ok heres another WIP shot of the first Rhino, we are going to have a look at the rear side this time!

Now what do you think? The Blood letter is holding onto a chain mount attached to the door to look as though its being opened and hes about to jump out. You will have to imagine it with the top hatches on and being dark inside. Well that's not true if I can make miracles happen there will be a red led light behind him on the far side of the compartment.

Now that I said that I had a quick check on ebay again and there are some on there, I curse thee lol. Now I must find more funds for the blood god. At this point I'm also wishing I pinned him to his base but I got him before I started my pinning craze.

Thanks glad you like them, the Rhino is nearly finished the doors should arrive tomorrow and the battery's for the LED. Still undecided on the blood letter though, I was going to have him inside the Rhino so when you open the rear door he would be ready to charge at you but he doesn't even fit in their lying down.

I wasn't going to use the DP in my doubles event but I could drop the Slaanesh sorceress and include him instead as I have the extra 10 points needed free. That would make it a pure World Eater force but adds another model to my painting list, means I need to get a pair of wings as soon as possible as they need to be shipped from the US.

I've not really looked into them, they have them for sale on the GW site separately from the model, good find I'll keep them in mind.

I'm hoping I don't need to do much GS work to add wings as the back is already undercoated so will give it less of a hold, I will pin them though for sure.

Its all going on today, I got my super sexy Rhino doors from the Warmill boys and my batterys for the LEDs. Of course I got my doors on the Rhino and spent most of the afternoon playing with the LED lights as you do when you get a new toy.

I now realise that I don't like working with LEDs due to the wiring being to small and fiddly, really stresses me and out and we all know stress is badddd.

So a few shots this is the Rhino with the LED inside, its not quite the effect I was after, you cant see the bulbs white light in real life.

This is the Rhino currently with the LEDs removed

Now should I leave the Khorne symbol as it is, looks quite nice or should I undercoat it and paint it? I cant make up my mind so thought I'd see what you think.

Tomorrow I'll show some unpainted doors and hatches from Warmill when I can get some daylight shots, guys if your reading this I'll post them in your thread as well tomorrow.

I also got a load of bits to make up some of the Dark Wolves I just needed a few backpacks and legs so I'm sorted for about 10 more models, although the bits site managed to send me the wrong parts so I don't have Chaos Space marine backpacks yet.

I'm off to try and finish those berserkers tonight, they must be finished by the end of the weekend before I go back to work.

Ooh liking the rhino with all the heads and that daemon prince is very nice! Don't know if it helps but from just trying the one I painted you can get a fair amount of light shining through the engraved bits even after it's painted as primer spray doesn't really get in there.

I think Khorne would approve of glowy red symbols

Looks awesome so far.
Can't you just give the hatches a few washes to give them some shading and colour? It would still let a lot of the light shine through.

Ok cheers all glad you like the light display you've convinced me to keep the led inside the Rhino. I'm going to need some help though as I had issues securing the wires to the battery.

So any suggestions on how to do this will be greatly appreciated, one thing though I don't have a solder Iron so I'm going to need another way of doing it. I've tried electrical tape it kind of works but the wires work there way out too often.

I'll add some more paint to the hatch as well.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The second half of the World Eaters Khorne Berserker Beta Squad is now complete.

Now whats left to paint for my 900 points is the two Rhinos (one still waiting to be sent) and the DP if I can get hold of the wings and they look ok.

Looks awesome !

The Khorne icon is so intense! Wondering what can be done to tone down the LED though, to make it less bright and have it look the way you want it. Maybe a light gel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_gel) to dampen the tone but keep the color?

I really like the Rhino trophy display as well. No doubt this is going to be amazing when it is done.

Cheers I have toned down the the light source since the photo by filing the light bulb to give it a frosted effect.

This is the first Rhino there will be an identical one as well (different heads though on the side), I already have the parts just waiting for the vehicle itself.

I also have special plans for a Khorne Vindicator with LED's, I have the bits but wont be able to afford the tank till the end of the year.

So, the easiest solution is to use an LED, a button battery, and some electrical tape. If you google "LED throwy" and don't use the magnet, it'll work great for you. You can just drop the led anywhere you need.

As for diffusing the light source, you can stuff the lit end of the LED into a plastic drinking straw, preferably white (as opposed to clear) and secure it with some boring PVA glue.

Cheers Brian the LED throwy is the perfect answer to what I was looking for, there is one slight problem though you cant get 3v Red LED's for some reason they are all 2v. I cant find anywhere in the UK that sells 2v button batterys if there is such a thing.

Godless-Mimicry wrote:Finally got p2 working.

Hi Godless-Mimicry the hatch and doors are made from acrylic with laser-engraved images. These ones were a custom order I made with http://www.warmill.co.uk

This is how the doors looked when I received them.

For the hatch I used masking tape to cover the logo before undercoating and then popped a LED into the back.

Cheers again I will order some bits and let you know how it turns out, might get some flashing red LEDs as well and see what they look like.

They are not as bright as in the picture more a glowing red colour, I only play in tournaments once every three months or so, so they will be left on over the two days. Not at night though of course, this depends on how hot they get but being LEDs there shouldn't be a heat issue.

This is also why I'm not really worried about painting the symbol as the tanks will never be seen without the LED's on. I might change my mind on this though.

When the new LEDs come I'll take some more pics.

Hi tipios

My minis are kept in army cases when not in use so theres no need to paint the symbol, its starting to stand out nicely now as I've added some more layers to the Red see pics below.

-----------

Ok we have a mid week update today as I had a few hours to spare this evening.

I got my new LED's and battery's in the post today, all you need to do to attach these ones it clip them over the battery and then add some electrical tape to secure them.

Here's a pic without tape, it really is as easy as the picture

All I need to do is put them in the back of the rhinos when needed and tape them down and they look like this.

The main light soure of the bulb doesn't show in real life

It looks more like this, sorry about bad picture

I've added a few layers to the top tonight and a wash to get the colour I'm after for the red.

A little bonus for you I also got some flashing red bulbs which will be going in my vindicator cannon, here's a sneak peak although you will have to blink quite a bit to get the flashing effect

Also picked up some blue LED's for a Tzeentch Rhino which will have a see through top hatch and doors, haven't ordered them yet but I have the images for the designs ready.

Aye green LEDs would be the best I'd say, you would need to send some pics to Warmill for Death Guard so they can make them up for you.

I'll send you a PM as I have something else you might be interested in seeing as your in Southampton.

Not sure If I will be working on it tomorrow as the other Rhino arrived today and I need to assemble and get it undercoated before the weather turns. Well I actually got a Razorback as they are the same price and it gives me a load of spare heavy weapons bits for conversions.

Thanks everyone wings it is then I need to bring my second Rhino up to the same level as the one I'm currently working on first. Its made and under coated and the skulls are done just need to do the 100 coats of red then I'll start on those wings.

The DP will be the last figure in the small force for my doubles event to paint/convert up, I'm a bit worried because the resin is very brittle I think I may pin the wings in place there is also the option of magnets but I've not used them before and don't really want to try them out on this guy.

One of the wings will need lots of work as it doesn't fit between the shoulder plate and his back spines, it's not easy to position so I may end up doing a wing at a time. Once I get the drill out there's no going back.

---

Well things didn't go to plan this week as I was ill and didn't have enough energy to pick up a paintbrush, I managed to pull myself together enough over the weekend to crack on with the World Eaters though.

I got lots of work done on the second Rhino yesterday I need to finish painting the symbol on the door and then finish the trophy heads and hatches on both Rhinos then they will be finished. When they are I'll light them up for you and take a few more pictures. It is taking ages doing all the heads different colours.

I still need a few more ideas though for marine chapters I have Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Death Company, Imperial Fists, Space Wolves, Ultra Marines and a Grey Knight head. I might do a White Scars one as well that leaves two normal marine heads and a terminator one I don't have a paint scheme for yet.

I've also just put the first wing on the daemon prince, it makes him look huge. I will have a fiddle and see if I can get the second one on tonight but my camera batteries are dead so there wont be a pic with both wings till I get another chance.

Here he is with his first wing being pulled back to follow the motion of him stepping forward, the second wing will be a bit more closer to his body. For size comparison the unpainted model that crept into the pic on the far right is 32mm high (slightly bigger than a marine).

Time is ticking away for my deadline now, losing a week to illness has only hindered the blood gods plans for domination.

Also while looking through my gallery at the images that have votes I've noticed they are on average about 7 out of 10, if anyone has any tips on how I can improve my painting I would greatly appreciate it. I want to work my way up to a constant 8 well thats the the goal I'm going to set myself.

Well here we go the finished Daemon Prince, I keep finding bits I need to touch up but he's really finished now.

Tried using my photo tent for the first time, it will take a while to get used to it and It doesn't help that my camera is ancient. Most of the photos came out ok apart from the last but its only for size comparison to show how huge this guy is.

Next up is to finish the two rhinos they are nearly there, just need to do a few more helmets and little bits.

Let me know what you think, I think its my best mini so far outdoing the Necrodefiler.

I will try and improve on the photos some how.

Ok I need some help for my next unit, I'm having problems getting some daemonette parts and wondered if any one might have any of these bits spare. I only need the three which would cost me to much to source/get hold of without buying a whole box.

I need these specific parts in the picture. Head, main body (dont need the unattached leg) and icon.

I have loads of Blood Angel parts for trade if anyone is interested.

Thanks glad you like him Skalk.

The only problem with hoard o bits is I would have to get a set of heads and bodies when I only want one of each, it makes it cheaper for me to buy a box when you add on P&P.

A small update on what to expect from the blog next.

Just finishing the two rhinos for the World Eaters at the moment and then I'll show you some pics of them and the 900 point force all together.

Then the next two projects will run side by side.

For my Chaos Army I'll be adding a female Slaanesh termicide unit, if it goes well they will be heavily converted and very feminine. Also I'll be adding a khorne Vindicator which I gave you a few ideas about a few pages back with a pic of the cannon with an LED inside. These two units need to be completed by some point in February for a 1750 point force.

-----------------

The next major project will be 1500 points of Skyrar's Dark Wolves, these will be a minor chaos influenced Space Wolf army. They will be based in a dead forest setting, I'll be sculpting lots of trees and logs for the bases for these and I'm going to try and give them all dynamic poses to suit the army.

Here's the army list that I will be building too. I have enough parts for all of the Grey Hunters and 3 of the Thunderwolves. I also have the las/plas turrets for the Razorbacks so I'm not doing to bad purchase wise.

HQ
Wolf Lord
Thunderwolf
Frost Blade
Runic Armour
Fenrisian Wolf
Wolf Tail Talisman
Belt of Russ

Wolf Guard Pack 5 man squad
Terminator Armour

Fast Attack
Thunderwolf Cavalry 2 Man Squad
Thunder Hammer
2 Storm Shield

After this I'll be looking at Necrons, I have an excellent theme for them. Its not been done before, I'm very excited but keeping it under wraps for now

There's so many others armies I want to start as well, its very hard to stay focussed on one at a time, things might change in March if the Chaos Legion codex turns out to be true as I still have lots of ideas for my world Eaters and The Reborn (Nurgle) but dont want to commit any more to them until I know whats happening.

There's also a huge amount of imperial projects but they are on the back burner for now, but you might see the odd model pop up here and there.

Well today I finished the Rhinos (all apart from a jem on the Eldar helmet which I just noticed).

Loads of pics of the this time round, lets see if you can spot the different chapters / races

Squad Alpha's Rhino

Squad Beta's Rhino

Both together

And a light up shot of the top hatches, its not easy getting pics as they never look the same as in real life.

As I've now finished the 900 points here's a very poor army shot (I'll try again when its day light over the weekend) . I still need to varnish half of them and add magnetic sheet to the bases ready for the end of the month.

Thanks the Rhinos came out much better than I had hoped considering I don't like painting tanks, they were very daunting to start with but I'm looking forward to doing the Khorne vindicator now.

Cheers Skalk I'm trying to improve my painting skills and conversions with each army, trying out new things and always pushing my imagination further each time. I'm hoping the Slaanesh terminators and Dark Wolves will be another step up as I'll be going in at the deep end again with what I have planned.

I've been doing lots of stuff today but nothing that I can really give you images of.

All my World Eaters now have magnetic sheet on the bottom of their bases to make moving them around at tournaments more easier and I glossed all the blood drops on the berserkers.

Actually I did make a combi weapon for one of the rhinos as I had a few points spare its not great but will do, it wasnt something I really wanted to work on but sometimes the unexpected is required.

The OSL is especially dodgy lol

A little bit of something different for you all today, consider it painting practice for a project that I'm trying not to start

Here be gold, imagine the emperors finest kitted out with this style of power armour, a clue for those budding marine fanatics there are only 96 remaining marines in the chapter.

Let me know what you think, when I do it on a real guy it will be smoothly blended. I painted this pad too close too my lamp and the paint dried a lot faster than expected.

Just read through the whole thread and there is a lot of impressive work here. Very nice Khornate Daemon prince with Zombie Dragon wings and those Rhino's are fantastic. I particularly like the use of beasts heads on their front, and the lighting effects really tie the whole model together.

And I presume the golden marine will be Celestial Lions then.

Many thanks Gathering Storm and yes Celestial Lions is the chapter I'll be basing them on the Space Wolf codex so I can have lions as Fenirisian Wolves. I expect I'll end up doing these and the Dark Wolves at the same time as I'm really itching to start on them.

Cheers Neil. For the gold I'll be doing it as follows all vallejo paints

Black undercoat
Charred Brown base coat (on this test I painted over a Khorne dark red pad)
Then its a case of wet blending from the bottom of the pad starting with Tinny Tin > Polished Gold > Silver and finishing with Liquid Gold

Thanks I'll use that method when I start working on the army.

One word of advice for anyone reading this that is interested in using Liquid Gold & the other alcohol based metallics from Vallejo, make sure you have a dedicated brush for them as the metal pigments do not come out of the brush when washed and will come off when painting later. I already did my home work on this kind of paint so had a oldish brush ready to use.

I seem to be the grand master of updates this week.

I've shown you the first mini before but I'll show you her again as the time is more relevant now I've started working on the project.

This is my version of Skyrar of the Dark Wolves

This is her Wolf Lord the base is a million miles away from being finished at the moment, I'm currently waiting for some wire to make some plants with. It took a while to get the legs right of the Wolf Lord, I ended up cutting one off so I could reposition it.

There are no wolves on LYCAN96B....

I'm afraid I don't have much to show you this week, I'm working on a fantasy miniature for a painting competition but cant post any shots until its finished and uploaded to their site first.

The other thing I'm currently working on aside from the Dark Wolves who haven't had any love this week is the first of the Emperor's Children termicide unit.

It doesn't look much but she's had four hours of work already to get her this far, most of it was hollowing out the terminator suit to fit a Dark Eldar Wyche torso inside, I can tell you there's no room for a marine in one of these!

You wont have thought of this but I'm going to point it out any way, yes you can see down the front of her armour!

The GS has only just been done and will need tidying up when its dry.

Oh nearly forgot to say next weekend the World Eaters will be off conquering the universe, well running round being shot at lots which is more likely

I'll see if I can get some photos from the event, its not possible for them to be as bad as last time.

I thought it would be an interesting project to make my termicide unit as feminine as possible using the DE torsos and heads some will have Daemonette parts as well.

They are going to be the three 's err ladies of Slaanesh, deep striking into the heart of the enemy's line to cause havoc and mayhem in a fury of lust and desire.

Tiny update today from the tourney on the weekend.

I only have one pic to share as I was having too much fun and totally forgot the camera so apologies for that. I didn't walk home with best painted army so must try harder next time. The army which won was an Ork army which I voted for it was very nicely painted and did deserve to walk away with the trophy.

My partner in crime also brought Khorne as well with berzerkers and raptors so the general tactics of the day were drive rhinos across the board and hope they survived till turn three then jump out and charge no matter the enemy.

Game one vs Guard and Blood Angels

The first game we were up against a mobile Guard army with tons of Lascannons. Bring it down was ordered multiple times each round on the daemon prince until he fell after taking out a group of ratlings. We were still learning what are forces could do in this game as neither of us had played them before! We made the mistake of splitting our forces and got ruined.

Game two vs Chaos Space Marines (Emperors Children) and Orks

An interesting game lots of deffkopters and two defilers, being the biggest scariest model on the table the daemon prince took on both units of copters and the defilers at once in combat while giving the opportunity for the Berzerkers to get into the fray. We took out most of the Ork force but didn't have much left to take out the two defilers and they ate us. Our ranged weapons consisted of two Obliterators and when I say long range I mean more than bolt pistol range lol

Game three vs Guard and Space Wolves

This game was a bit of a grindfest lots of guard tanks and blood claws running round. We started off stealing the initiative and the first shot of the game from the Obliterator took down the guard vendetta, we were so happy. The obliteraters continued to rain down fire taking out tanks left and right covering the berzerkers. We met the wolves in the middle and had a good scrum and came out the victor. Our first victory of the day

Game four vs Guard and Space Wolves

First game of day two and we were up against another guard and SW army this time with even more tanks and I have a picture for this game of our rhino strike force charging the gun line. Every game we played this was the general setup of the enemy no matter what army they were playing, sit back as close to the board edge and shoot until you run out of ammo no matter what. We lost too many guys taking on the tanks and got minced by the Space Wolves in this game.

Game 5 vs Eldar and Dark Eldar

This was a fun game spearhead was the mission, we just went for it all the tanks in a big group going straight for them no cover nothing. We lost the DP along the way but it worked out just fine as our tanks arrived on turn three without a scratch in reach of the enemy. The berzerkers ripped off Eldar heads for three turns they were like steam trains crushing all in their way. We came away the victor and I think it was the best game of the weekend it was so fun. At one point in the game both are forces were on the opposite sides of the tale from where they started holding the enemys objective markers.

Game 6 vs Orks and more Orks

Last game of the weekend and we were up against a double Ork force in pure Khorne style we charged straight for the middle and met the Orks there for a massive brawl it was very blood thristy with maimed orks and berzerkers everywhere. In the end we were ground down due to having less troops on the table but it was such a laugh.

The Ork players were trying to bring me round to starting an Ork force as they loved the conversions in my army, I think they have hit a bone and I will be picking up a codex and looking at possibilities for a small Mech force for the doubles event towards the end of next year. I was going to do Necrons but the green skins are tempting me.

Give in to the Green! If I started a new army it would be Orks w/o a doubt. They were my first true love in 40K, just didn't get into them when I came back a couple years ago in 5th Ed. I'm waiting for 6th Ed and to finish up some things I am working on currently, but man I have to say I've been wicked tempted to get back to da Ladz.

Small update today.

I received my Ork codex in the post yesterday so I'll be starting another blog at some point for Xeno scum, I'll be going for the Death Skulls clan for maximum converting/looting possibilities.

On the Chaos front for what seems to be an extremely hard project I've now got to the below stage for the first two Slaanesh Terminators, for my sins I've decoded to up the unit count to four to include a Heavy Flamer lass as well.

Left arm is a combi melta and will be added later as it goes across the front of the model.

The right arm for this young lady is a chainfist which i'll add later to make painting easier.

I've also done some more work on the base for the Dark Wolves Wolf Lord by adding some plants but as they are made from white paper they wont come out on a photo so you will have to wait to see them painted.

All three of the above will be getting under coated tonight at their current stages so I can start painting them, I'm having painting withdraws at the moment with all this modelling work!

They are Daemonettes in Terminator armour (not Wyches). Still makes no sense to have your mid riff open while fighting mid battle, but I wouldn't like to argue with them and their Slaanesh ways. It's the same argument for all those marines who don't wear helmets

No carapace for these girls just leather underneath!

Cheers Gits, Its a bit of modelling wire with some paper leaves I cut out, glued on and then painted. I was inspired by one of Terraformers blogs. Its actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. The wire is stuck into GS on this base and the one I'm currently doing I drilled a hole into the base to insert the wire for the stems.

What about if you use stronger stuff? After each colour I clean my brushes with a dab of Medea airbrush cleaner (non-toxic and no fumes), and after a month or so of painting (or any enamels) I'll get out white spirits and nail varnish remover to get them good as new.

I finished another base for my Skyrar's Dark Wolves this time for one of the Wolf Guard.

I feel like I'm teasing you with these pics and no minis

There is a third long leaf but its hidden by the other two in the photo.

Thanks Gits

Today what I thought was going to be quick took ages, I took some pictures of my World Eaters minis and created what I think is an Army Profile which can be found here World Eaters Army Profile. As I don't have a cabinet to keep my minis in its great for me to see what I've got at a glance and also hopefully makes it easier for you to see my finished minis without having to go through loads of pages.

I've also taken pics of my Thousands Sons as well and will be doing the same with them shortly.

This will kind of be like my glass cabinets

Cheers Skalk I'm hoping a full army with this style of basing is going to look impressive, It all comes down to the minis that are going to be on the base now lol

risewiththefallen wrote:Awsome you should do a 1k sons profile as well

See below

---------------------------------------------

I had to stay up into the early hours last night to do some stuff for work in between doing bits I finished painting my first Emperors Children terminator at 4am this morning! Purple is such a hard colour to paint and the mini was a right pain to catch on camera as well, the last shot is the best she doesn't like having a white background so it was a last ditch attempt to get the angle I wanted.

So here she is

She looks loads better in real life just a tad camera shy. Her leather top is actually painted with a coat of gloss to give it a nice shine but you wont see that in the pics as she was being modest for this photo shoot.

Also I just finished working on my Thousand Sons army profile as well which can be found here Thousand Sons Army Profile

I'm off to curl up and get some sleep now or finish painting another Dark Wolves base.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Some more pictures of the Emperors Children Terminator with the light a bit better this time.

Heres a size comparison shot next to one of my test marines, she's huge and that's without high heals

Cheers Neil she must work out a lot lol. Glad you like the basing your ash board is very inspiring and I'd like to carry that thought over into an army but cant think of one at the moment.

My list of basing ideas/themes is currently taking off at a rapid pace as per the below, this hobby could well have me tied to it for many years considering I can do two 1500 point armys a year.

Chaos (all four powers) - Ice
Dark Wolves - Forest
Necron - Beach
Orks - Snow
Howling Griffons - Hive World/Steam punk
Ultra Marines - Green Flock/army base
Grey knights - Ruined Temple
Night Lords - Ruined city at Night
Imperial Beastmen - Jungle/Avatar style - Fiber optics
? Ash
Eldar - Muddy Battlefield / barbed wire / tank bits
Red Scorpions - Red dusty canyon
Omega Marines - Mountain
Pre Heresy Dark Angels - Desert
Celestial Lions - Lava
Blood Angel - Sky - 100% flying models no ground
Tyranid? - Intact temple

It's felt like ages since I updated this thread.

The girls take a lot of work to build and paint, the filing out of the chest plate takes a good few hours and drives me mad. But I've finished number 2 now. Just two more to go.

I did have an issue sourcing parts for the wing on the shoulder pad and tried to make some the weekend just gone but failed miserably. I was quite lucky to find a bits site I haven't used before tonight which had enough left in stock to finish the other two girls with a spare for another project but that depends if I can source another 5 of them!

Here she is in all her glory

Ah Miss Dee the cannon is from the WFB Ogre Kingdoms Ironblaster and the answer to your question the other day the purple I'm using is Vallejo Hexed Lichen, sorry forgot to answer that one.

Today we have a few more shots of the work I did on the Vindicator this morning, I'll be adding the dozer blade towards the end of the painting.

I also have another base for my Dark Wolves to show you.

I have one more 60mm base to do which if all goes to plan should look quite stunning.

Quick question for you all as I'm looking at stuff for my The Reborn (Nurgle) force at the moment. The Reborn are worshippers of Nurgle with decaying armour and antique weaponry.

I've already done a test mini which I've post below for your reference.

Now the question lies in the Form of picking a Greater Daemon of Nurgle for these guys for a tournament in May. I need to start early for these guys as I have a lot to budget for and paint in time most of the parts will be from Forge World, I never seem to pick the cheap option!

I've been looking at tones of potential Greater Daemon of Nurgle models. The one I like the most is the FW one buts out of my price range for a single mini. I sent some feelers out and was recommend a Cryx mini from Warmachine, the Bloat Thrall but I think it would look small next to my Daemon Prince of Khorne.

Then I found this on the Cryax page of maelstrom Games and thought hmmm could I use this guy...The model in question is the Wraith Engine, if I rusted it up a lot what do you think?

Here's a pic I found on the web next to a 28mm figure. As you can see its huge so shouldn't cause LOS issues for my opponent.

Thoughts on a postcard please.

And Happy Christmas all. I hope Slaanesh was plentiful in her gifts!

Post by: Skalk Bloodaxe

My first hesitation are the words "tournament in May". Depending on the organizers, etc it's possible the model would be disallowed? You would know better than I, just had to mention that.

The other is I'm not feeling the love from that model. It screams "cybernetic Tyranid" to me and not even a little "Papa Nurgle". I've been wrong before and have said "no way" to things that people have taken and converted and made horrifically beautiful... but as it stands (NIB) that model isn't what you are looking for as far as I'm concerned.

Now I know you may be thinking "Ok Skalk... that's 'helpful'... thanks " and I understand. So here's my bit to hopefully help out and offer some alternate solutions instead of just offering a dissenting opinion.

So some ideas...

The GW Greater Daemon of Nurgle likely isn't what you are going for I'm guessing. It looks like a bloated WFB River Troll from the same era. Man that model needs an upgrade. However, there are quite a few on eBay right now that are in a decent price range.

THIS model is AWESOME! It's the Ultraforge Plaguedemon and man I have half a mind to buy it for myself. Check it out and see what you think.

Same company used to make a Greater Plague Demon but apparently GW sent them a C&D letter and it's OOP. They still pop up online now and then (nothing on eBay currently that I could find)

And then there's... uhm... *30 minutes of Google later*... hrm...

Yeah. Forgeworld I guess.

But there's got to be more out there, I'm just a bit fried / tired. If I find anything that may be of interest I'll post it.

Thanks Gits and Skalk

Skalk in reply to your post I agree it is a bit too cybernetic for a Great Unclean One. The Greater Plague Daemon would be great but too hard to get hold of the other is more of a Daemon Prince I'd say.

This is the results of searching that I've and a few others from another forum have come up with so far.

Gribbly Miniatures - Vile Spawn

Confrontation - Flesh Golem Although I expect this will be too hard to get hold of

Games Workshop - Greater Daemon of Nurgle

Forge World - Greater Daemon of Nurgle

Raging Heroes - Gluttony

Maxmini - Great Plague Bringer

Banelegions - N'nhaak'chshir, Divine Lord of the Lesions and the Buboes

Puppetswar - Fat Plague Daemon

I've just finished the third of the Emperor's Children today.

Here she is, this young creature isn't flaunting her wears like the others as the heavy flamer gives off a lot of heat and we wouldn't want any singed flesh, she's also wearing a scarf round her face to try and block out the smell of charred bodies.

I'm quite happy with how the power weapon came out, I was trying not to draw the attention towards the base rather leaving it on the main part of the model but have a nice effect as well..

I also have another pic I took of the jugger the other day when we had some sunshine.

GiraffeX, your Empchild Termi is looking really good. Did you use a DE head for it? And that Jugger is just looking great!

In regards to your options for the GD of Nurgle, I'd say to go for the "Gluttony" model from Raging Heroes. That being said, I have no idea what that bugger costs. It may even be more pricey than FW, though I doubt it. I feel like a lot of those other options just reminded me of Slimer from Ghostbusters.

Thanks Moltar glad you are liking her, there's a few more on previous pages as well. Yes the head and her torso are from the Dark Eldar Wyche sprues.

After all the hard work looking for a Nurgle GD I've now dropped it from the list for the May tournament, I'll have to pick up one at a later time though.

Cheers mekbadzappa I'll be doing all my Dark Wolves to that standard. Just one more Emperor's Children Terminator left to go to finish the unit. I need to make a Chaos Sorceress in the same way in power armour and I have a cunning idea for a counts as Abaddon model coming up in the near future.

This one is the icon bearer.

just noticed what seems to be a bubble on her back, ah well I'm not going to try and fix that now.

Heres a group shot of all four, when I get some decent light I'll take another, you can see the pic better if you click on it as its quite big.

Thanks for the comments.

--------------------------------

Well I decided to take an army shot tonight. This is everything I've painted in the last eleven months since I got back into the hobby for my Chaos Space Marine army. There are a few things I'd like to do again or do differently like the Chosen unit, but It wouldn't feel right changing them now.

Both the Thousand Sons and the World Eaters have been to a tournament each and I had fun with both.

I'm currently working on my last mini for the year which is the World Eaters Vindicator.

Next year so far for this army you will see a Thousand Sons Rhino, the introduction of my Nurgle force The Reborn consisting of a Daemon Prince and two Plague Marine units with Rhinos, an Emperors Children Sorcerer and Abaddon's daughter!

The large point tournament games are at the beginning of the year for me so I'll be running a mixed chaos force for the first half of the year then hopefully my Skyrar's Dark Wolves army will be painted and ready for action in mid September.

Thanks to everybody who has contributed to this thread you have helped me in both my modelling and painting skills and given me the feedback and encouragement to continue forwards has been most appreciated. Also thanks to the lurkers out there as well, I know you're there

Yep great shot! Not only do we need some nurgle but some Emperor's Children too! Just to complete the set of course.

Thanks everyone glad you like the photo, I know its not great.

Reaper Man there are four Emperor's Children terminators in the pic. , Currently modelling another of the ladies.

I am finding it hard at the moment modelling new stuff for the Chaos army unless its core troop types due to the rumours of the Legion dex coming out in 2012 if the rumours are true. I don't want to spend ages modelling stuff to find I cant use it or a better version is brought out. It is holding back my creativity at the moment as there are quite a lot of other chaos bits that I'd like to do, which is why I'll be concentrating on the Dark Wolves unless I need something for a tournament like the Nurgle bits.

-----------------------------------

Enough of that I have something to show you today thats quite cool. I've finished my World Eaters Vindicator, well ahead of schedule which means I'll have time to continue one of the following three before I pick up my Rhino next week. Currently working on modelling Abaddon's daughter, painting another Jugger and the Wolf Lord.

Yep the hatch is missing I'll be doing that later when I've decided if I need to make a combi weapon for it

So you want some pics?

The doors are from www.warmill.co.uk It did mean I had to cut out the doors from the Vindicators side as its all one piece but I think you will agree its worth it.

Heres a shot in the dark its small as my camera wasnt very happy but you can see the light effect and its a flashing bulb as well.

Now for a few how I done it shots this is the barrel of the cannon with the battery. The bulb just slides on and it goes up the barrel so to speak.. Then the front of the Vindicator is put into place its been magnetised so It wont fall off mid battle. A funny thought for you I was going to paint the gun barrel so it looked like it was carved from bone but I changed my mind as it would have been wrong in so many ways or is that just mind!

I'd like to do a full unit of Noise Marines in the same way I did the terminators with the Dark Eldar torsos, I need to have a play round to see if the fit in power armour. The Sorcerer bits I have in the post will be my test model. Although I'm concerned as the weapon load out may change in the new codex.

I'd also like to do a Land Raider for the terminators with screaming faces all over it but I'm not sure if I have the modelling talent for that, there is always the option of filling heads down and putting them on with some GS hmm .

Yeah indeed, I worked out with the speed of my painting if I did all the 40k projects that I have planned your looking at 10 years worth of hobby time!

Thanks. My favourite bit is the part you cant see in the pics, the skulls eyes on the top of the cannon flash red as well.

Yeah never noticed that before, what a strange place to put spikes.

Ok here's the first Grey Hunter Mr Bug Eyes, his pupils are there but weren't picked up in the shots as they are at the end of his stalks. I'll try to capture them when I finish something else.

Eww. Reminds me of a conversion I did on an old Genestealer Hybrid as a Necromunda Mutie. I called him... really original here... Popeye. I later returned that same model to the glory of the True Emperor sans eye stalks.

Great job on the paint w/ that one.

I've got too more Grey Hunters for the Dark Wolves finished this week end, I seem to be taking longer painting these than normal for some reason.

Fading Imperium, I've notice a bit of green where I missed his eye in the first pic that needs tidying up so ignore that bit

Tracker

I've got all the bits for my Nurgle Marines but I'm still very undecided what colour /chapter to do them. Death Guard would be the easiest as I have the Forge World shoulder pads but if anyone one has any interesting ideas let me know. They were originally going to be The Reborn but the legs I was going to get looked too thin so I picked up some normal tactical legs to make them look a bit different.

Two more Grey Hunters to go for the full unit

thanks Gits I'm really enjoying painting them although they do look like dull grey battle ships about mid way through painting then they suddenly spring into life.

If there's any avid CSM list builders reading this blog I really need some help making a 2500 list for the middle of this year. There's only one condition the list must include Abaddon anything else will be considered, apart from oblit/lash as I'd find that rather boring to play.

I started a post here so if you have any ideas drop them in http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/forums/show/14.page

Cheers

I finished the last two Grey Hunters today for the squad, I'm quite happy with how the squad came out in the end.

Heres a shot of the completed squad

I'm currently working on building a Emperors Children Sorceress, I've done the hard bit today of removing the inside of the front of a marine torso. Tomorrow will be the GS work and her arms and the I'll show you a pic before I paint her.

I've built and undercoated a new Obliterator as well.

I've also finalised my 2500 point army list for July, thats added quite a few models to the list of things to do for this year including another unit of Plagues and Berzerkers, Abaddon another Rhino and a Land Raider. This year will be the year of the tank Just checked and I have eight planned and a drop pod. I'm starting to think my Marines are a tad lazy
