which led to a price increase of 5 Euro.
That's crazy.

It appears to be more that the switch to FineCast coincided with the price raise.

So if they'd stayed with metal they'd be more expensive as well, possibly moreso.

But I could be wrong.

Not sure how they justify the drastic price increase - set-up of the production using resin, price of resin compared with metal, advertisement of resin products.

Chimera_Calvin wrote:So, its been a couple of weeks now since the solids hit the air conditioning and the nerdrage seems to have cooled from volcano-level boil to a mere furious simmer, so I thought I'd do a quick poll.

For those who have been living under a rock and don't know why I'm asking this question, GW has in the last 2 weeks:
1. Changed to a cheaper casting material yet increased prices up to 30%
2. Embargoed independant retailers from selling outside of Europe to force people in the rest of the world to pay much higher prices locally
3. **Disclaimer, rumour only** GW want to force independant retailers to only sell at RRP and not offer discounts
4. Issued a C&D to a company for making a model whose head is apparently too similar to the head of a model GW haven't made for 15 years (a minor point in the grand scheme of things, but still...)
5. Enforced total secrecy on all new releases, no more than 1 weeks warning of new product, WD subscribers to not get the magazine until after it is on sale in shops

For myself, this 2 week gakstorm has finally driven me away from GW after 23 years of loyal (if increasingly frustrated) custom - I feel genuinely gutted but you have to draw a line somewhere. Following a chat with the other guys I play with regularly, we're all going to start something new (not decided what yet - Warmahordes is current favourite) so thats at least 4 customers lost.

We all know that only losing customers will force GW to change, but how many of you will actually give up?

1. Ask yourself this would you have a cheaper, metal mine that gets broken every time it falls over or more expensive mini that doesn't get broken as easily?

2. If you see a man gettting shot and you deside not to help him then don't expect help when you get shot.

3. rumours are rumours

4. Hmm interesting so ips dont get old and this is new news?

5. So no longer we get to know every new codex's unit before hand and this is bad how exactly?

Out of interest, I wonder how bad policy changes would have to be before people are trying to defend them as being anything other than bad for the larger number of hobbyists, and motivated entirely by the objective of short-term profit?
Next up, a free 'kick to the shin' when you step into a GW store.

Reply: 'better than a kick to the groin, would you rather GW did that?'

I've gotten rid of a lot of my GW stuff. I held onto a handful of models I like, and the rest got traded for, get this, Privateer Press models and Battlefront models. And I'm looking into Infinity and Heavy Gear. That's more than enough to replace GW.

I spent two days straight playing BattleTech last weekend. First time in two years. It felt good. Doing it again this weekend.

I prefer the "Customer Appreciation Bat".

Played a couple of games last weekend. Plays JUST like the original. We're sticking to pre-clan in the club campaign for it. It comes from a time when things were so much simpler, and 40k was not the tournament monolith it is now (seriously, Battletech used to get many more players).

We used it as an intro to a new player, and to bring a few of us 'back' into the game after such a long hiatus. We started with simple pre-Clan technology, but transitioned into what we termed 'Endurance BattleTech', where you just grab a new 'Mech from the spare pile every time you lose one. We had about 150 'Mech miniatures ready to go, with record sheets. I think we got through 25 of them...

This weekend is a historical refight. Early Clan invasion. A reinforced company of Lyran 'Mechs w/tank and infantry support vs 4 Stars of Jade Falcons - the Turkina Keshik no less - with Elemental support. It's going to be a complete fething massacre, but we know that going in. I'm leading the Falcon team.

We're doing a classic Battle Tech campaign. We're a merc company for hire and what not. Pretty fun. Captured a Clan Jump Ship!
