Turning to Dylan, Kessler replied; "The Silent Star is equipped with three Lucifer-Pattern Heavy Cannons, two Hydra-Pattern Torpedo Tubes, a point defense system, an ESM Pod, and a Strike Fighter Launch Bay. As for tactics, I have an idea; Why not have one vessel, possibly a cruiser of battleship, distract an enemy vessel of equal or greater size, while a frigate or a cruiser skims over the top of enemy vessel, firing it's cannons against the smaller spinal arc. The attacking ship will be a smaller target if it presents it's broadside, while at the same time maximizing firepower."

"I could distract, now these flack cannons, what is the chance of doing damage or possibly even blinding a frigate or cruiser? I mean the smoke and dust would cause a field, even for just a few seconds could open up a hole." Dylan says. Thinking about what Kessler all dylan could say is " I'll distract, just don't eff it up, I don't want to see my crew and possibly myself abandon the night crawler, and I sure as hell aint gonna use it as my coffin."

"A Flack Cannon? The screen of debris would only be effective at terminally close range, which would leave you open to a devastating counter-attack that would destroy or cripple your vessel. I would bring the topic of the flack cannon up with someone who has already seen active combat duty."

Having debarked from the shuttle, Trix and Natalie headed off to find something to eat; following directions from the station's helpful AI named Bob. Bob the AI. It had a ring to it. At least Natalie thought it did.

They soon found the promenade and entered a suitably nice-smelling Fish and Chip shop, aquiring some of the potato variant that the shop took as part of its name, before going their separate ways to their ships.

Although they were meant to have gone straight to their ships, Natalie had been hungry and the Admiral would never find out, so it didn't matter.

The access door to her ship loomed up ahead. Taking a deep breath, Natalie put her eye near the retinal scanner to confirm her indentity to Bob, before the door glided open, granting her access to her new home.

BIC:.....Rocky start part 2.....

Trix watched as Kessler and Dylan argued about strategies. It made her wonder if they paid any attention in the combat simulations or general tactics. She sighed, Let's hope our first mission won't be hard, cause else.... this couldn't end well. She stood up and looked at the arguing couple. "Fly fast, distract, kill. This is what the fleet does. Don't think about what your ship can. Think about what it can do for the others. You guys just go hard and fast. The Hammer will take care of your problems." She hoped she reminded them of their jobs. "Fly, distract, kill. It's as easy as that." She took her data-pad and seated herself down again. Loading the data directly onto her pocessor, information was always a good thing to have. "That's easy for you to say, you don't have to fly in." Trix grinned. "Would you like to be the buffer? Dylan? We all have our own tasks, don't discuss it. just do it." Dylan grumbled. "Just cove my ass." "Don't worry, your ass is the only thing on my mind." Trix and Kessle laughed as Dylan turned red. Trix wiped her tears of joy away, as she looked into her ship, and what it could do. She was the Buffer and she would make sure no one died under her watch.

Edit:...my rp happens before Darks?....

The officer at the airlock controls inside the ship snapped to attention, as Garan stepped on board. "As you were" Garan said to him.
He began to familiarise himself with his new ship with a tour of the ships main sections. Engineering, the launch bays, auxiliary controls, the mess hall, the holo simulators etc. The ship was as modern and well finished as he had hoped. Computer interfaces in every corridor, ID pads and reinter scanners on the doors as well as pristine brushed aluminium wall coverings and black flooring. . He finished his tour by visiting the bridge.
There were relatively few crew on board the Void Phoenix at the time, most of them were relaxing on the station before deployment into space. The ship was running on its solar collectors and the computer core wasn’t active, only running basic systems and interfaces. Garan strode over to engineering console, and activated the fusion reactor to start up the computer core at full capacity.
“Activate Computer system” Garan said to the computer, “Authorisation Majoric Omega Pi 6-3.”
“Command activation code accepted” the computer replied. The holo projectors glowed for a moment, and then settled ready for use.
“Activate the Command Hologram” Garan said to the computer. A figure, dressed in the uniform of a first officer appeared in the centre of the Bridge.
“Welcome Captain Majoric” the hologram said, “My name is KIRK, and I am the AI system, and the first officer, of the Void Phoenix.”
“Run a complete systems analysis and diagnostic, including all sub systems and back up systems,” Garan said to KIRK, “Collate them into a report and bring it to me at 13:45 in my quarters. The time was now 12:30, and Garan though this would give him time to un-pack, and make himself at home. He walked out of the bridge, and into the lift to his quarters.

Garan stepped out of the lift, and into his captain’s quarters. They were comfortable, much better than the dorm rooms of Fort Norton. On the wall, there was a picture of the Halos Nebula by an artist called Brian Ferox. The main room incorporated a small area for food preparation, as well as a wooden dining table and chairs situated to the right of the room, and a comfortable living area, with red sofas, to the left. There was a computer terminal in the main room, from which he could do everything from check the mess hall menu to organise a battle, if it were ever necessary to do so. At the back of the room, there was a frosted glass door, which opened automatically as he approached, and then his bedroom.
A luxurious bed, with a foam mattress, and red sheets from the master textile producers of Uranus. The duvet and pillows were stuffed with Malakite Down from Europa, one of the softest and comfiest materials in existence. He could already tell he was going to like command.
He walked back out of the bedroom, and issued a message to both his ship, and the rest of the station. It read:
“All hands of the Void Phoenix return to ship and prepare for departure, repeat, all hands of the Void Phoenix return to ship and prepare for departure”

issac got off the shuttle a started walking to his ship.ahhh,it felt good. he looked around him at the most impressive station. food court, several ships, bathrooms, etc.stopping,he frowned. he was hungry. dang it,he was told to go straight-awww,hell with it.he turns around and runs back to the food court. grabbing a burger and some fries,he sits down.eating with one hand, going over his data pad with the other.

"Mmmmm, good. ships probably wont have this forever,so better enjoy it now." finishing, issac jumps up a casually walks in the direction of his ship while attempting to whistle.

Dylan stood up, still blushing ever so slightly. "MAybe we can finish this conversation over the radio" He said walking out. He began walking to his ship when a young dirty boy came up to him and asked him to buy him food " I can't, but look, I can give you enough to buy some, ok?" He said. "Thanks mister!" Ah the Night Crawler. He activated the elevator and toured the ship. He wondered if he could get some food." Ummmm" He said walking up to a crewman. "Hey can you go grab me some food?"
"Is that an order?"
" Yes"
" Ok then i'll be back in twenty minutes."
Sweet. Food and he could actually be the boss. Lets see the captains qauters. Nice, nice bed, nice living area, nice cooking area, nice everything. Exept the closets. The closets sucked. He wondered if the others wanted to get together and talk about their ships and maybe get a beer or maybe ale.

But, don't forget what your char thinks about it, it one of the most important things.

Ex: Garran looked at his room, it wasn't much but it was all he needed. (you write this in function of your personallity ofcourse.)

Ex with other personality: Garran looked at his room, it was horrible, it didn't even had a wine cooler. A fact that depressed Garran immensly. How could he command a ship without one?

And you don't have to describe your room in detail,(however entertaining that is )

going into the mutt, issac went to his room. not as big as others, but nice and comfy. he threw off his gloves and shirt and looked in the mirror. sighing,he grabbed his hair.

"dangit, your a commander now,not some student." he then brushed it out and tied it back.ah,better. stepping into the shower and turning it on,he wondered if anyone thought he had smelled bad. after 10 minutes he stepped out,and got on his annoying uniform.slapping his sword, and smiling,he walked out. when he saw one of his crew,he asked.

"hello, how much time til take off?"

"We're ready to depart whenever you are sir, after all, you're the one in command Captain," Replied the crewman. Issac supposed he'd just have to get used to being in command and calling the shots from now on - no more asking for permission anymore. He grinned at this notion.

True, but there's probably nothing wrong with taking the ship out for a spin. Besides, the crewman isn't going to know when the ship is scheduled for departure - you're going to have to open a communication channel to the Admiral's ship and ask her.

Dylan walked up to the captains chair. Sitting down he looked at the empty room. It was leave for another 20 minutes. He thought about what he should name his AI. He settled on Red. Simple, easy to remeber, and quick to say. It stood for Reddington, whihc is Dylans great great great grandfather. " Red open a comlink to Admiral Sharpe, if possible."

BIC:....A rocky start part three....

Trix and Natalie left the shuttle, They we're relieved to get out. "God, Isaac really needed a shower, didn't he?" "God yes, i tought i would die in there." They laughed as they continued. In the middle of a discussion of who got the best position in the fleet. Natalie stopped when she heared the growling of her stumach. Trix smiled as she suggested too find something to eat. "Oh yes, let us taste something edible before we board. I swear Navy chow is going to be the death of me." Trix couldn't agree more, being fed by tubes wasn't one of the highlights of ones day. Soon they found a Hologram stalking the hallways. He intoduced himself as Bob the AI. And after a small amount of time, they were of to the market district. There was a ton of people walking in the market district. A lot of ships, docked onto this space-installation. And marines on relief, would pay big bucks for some necassary relief. Over the years this had sprouted the market district. The Commander of the installation even let some ... less seedier business to work here. A fact that many marines took advantage off, she saw as there was a big line in front of "Eds Mistery girls". "There." Natalie said pointing at a fish and ships boohth. They both cursed at the ridiculous price the man asked, but they both concieded after they smelled the glorious goods of the vendor. They watched the market as they calmly ate their meal. Trix Tried to enjoy every flavor of it. It would take some time before she would get her hands on decent food again.

After slowly eating the delicious fish, they left each other. "Time to find our ships, Natalie. we better get a move on it." "Yea, we don't want to upset the Admiral. Especially after what already happened today." "Don't worry, we'll make her proud. See you in space, Natalie." trix said as she left the market district. She ignored the looks of marines gaping at her. Luckily she was a commander, or she would have gotten more then just some looks. She saw the sense why the commander of this vessle alowed 'other bussiness' to be stationed here. She opened a link with the mainframe, searching for gate zeventeen, where the Aslinde and here crew awaited her. After fifteen minutes she found the gate, luckily she had a map. This vessle was just full of small corridors. She opened the gate and saw her full crew standing on the dock. "Officer on Deck, attention!" a man yelled at the top of his lungs. Her entire crew saluted her in perfect unison. It was a beatifull sight to see such, disciplined men. She ignored the fact that many here would probably already had set foot in 'Eds mistery girls'. They were her mean now. She saluted her crew back. "At ease soldiers." the man who commanded her crew walked towards her.

"Officer John Nexus. Reporting for duty Commander." he said with a monotone voice. Trix watched her second in command. He was Rel'tech. A person who changed so much of his body, that he was more machine then men. Optmised for space travel. His form was still somewhat humanoid, he didn't wore any clothes over his black sillicium hull. the only thing he had was his emblem depicting his rank. She saw to poly-tacks on his back. This much Tech was really impressive. His face had a face depicted on it. But that was more for esthetics than anything else. She saw his optic sensors concentrating on her. "Understood, officer nexus." She tore her look from Nexus. She had only met a Rel'tech once, very briefly. This was an intresting man. She looked at her new crew, who at their turn observed her. She hoped she looked experienced enough. "I am Lt Commander Zedong. Today we'll fly aslinde for the first time. the eyes of the entire Alliance rest upon us. Make me proud boys." "Ma'am, yes ma'am." her crew yelled. She nodded at nexus, who used his voice-modifications. "Embark ship and prepare for take of." The crew saluted once more and tired to get on the ship as fast as possible. They seemed as eager as Trix, to get this thing flying.

She looked at her stange new Rel' tech officer. "Bring me too the bridge, Nexus." "Let's see if we can be the first of the fleet to be fully operational." "Yes ma'am" He said, Trix couldn't tell if he was happy or not. His voice program showed no emotions. She followed her officer trough the many Decks of the Aslinde. She saluted her crew when she saw them. She was thankfull these men we're going to help her to get control of this ship. After many salutes they reached the bridge. Screens, filled every inch of the walls, showing the world outside the Aslinde. She almost felt like she could drift away, never to be found again. She walked to her command chair and took place. "Let's see what you can do." She whispered as she oppened a connection with the Aslinde's mainframe. Nexus sat right in front of her. Two massive datacables conneted to his Poly-tacks. He responded after he saw trix suprised face. "My brain is the only thing, i have left. I'm not going to tamper with that." "Fear enough." she said. "Now lets run systemchecks. Trix closed her eyes as she powered the Aslinde up. Running one dieagnostic check, after the other. Nexus Looked as he saw an intens smile form on his commander face. This one was a strange one, most fresh captains we're nervous wrecks on their first lift off. This one looked calm and determinant. This could get interessting. He laid himself down in his chair, starting his systemcheck.

'uhh..sir,yes,sir!" the man hurried to a com and repeated the orders. before issac even had walked down the hall he saw men rushing onto the ship. as he turned the corner,he almost slammed into an officer.

"whoa!"

"so,sorry, commander, ill pay more attention next time" the man was skinny, young, and well shaven. also seemed kinda shy.smiling, issac told him it was alright and kept walking. when he entered the bridge, several men stood up and saluted.

"at ease.launch as soon as were ready,we can wait for are comrades in space."

"sir yes sir!" and about 20 minutes later, issac was grinning huge as the ship launched.

"and here starts the mutts voyage in the stars."

Natalie nervously walked down the suspended corridor that lead to one of the many airlocks in The Pioneer's steadfast hull. She was in complete awe of the vast behemoth's sheer size - the ship occupied the second largest hanger in the entire space station. She knew that battleships were massive.. but this was beyond comprehension. She was so awestruck by the ship that she walked into the door at the other end of the suspended corridor, falling backwards on her bum in surprise, making a pitiful yelping sound as she did so. The door opened and a tall, strongly-built man in combat armor and holding a rifle looked down at her.
"Ma'am, are you alright?" He asked in a friendly voice, a smile playing on his lips as he observed the awkward position Natalie was in. He extended a hand to help her up before she even answered and she gratefully accepted it, allowing herself to be pulled back onto her feet.
"Thanks," She said with an embarrassed smile.
"No problem," The Marine replied. "Can I help you?"
"Erm.. Yes. This is my ship," She replied bluntly.
"Ah, so you're the Captain Rose they've all been talking about?" The man replied, foregoing formal etiquette and all of the saluting business, which relaxed Natalie somewhat. It also left her disarmed, but although her training picked up on this, she put her concerns at ease - she was perfectly safe here.
She blushed, "Yeah, but I didn't know that anyone was talking about me.. I hope I don't disapoint anyone."
"On the contrary, you're far more beautiful than any of the rumors suggested," The Marine replied charmingly, his deep hazel eyes locked on hers.
She blushed even more as she changed the topic, "Well.. uh.. I don't suppose you would mind carrying my suitcases to my quarters?"
"Of course, Captain," He answered, playfully emphasising her title as he slung his rifle over his shoulder and picked up her luggage. She glanced at his badge and replied, "Thank you, Private," as she walked onto her ship for the first time, a smile spread across her face.

It is in her profile - she has confidence issues. Okay.. maybe I understated a little. But she's under a lot of pressure you know.

Besides, this is a very different character than I'm used to playing - mine are usually unstoppable, male, testosterone-fuelled bad-ass killers! *cough*Shadow*cough*

Ah well, it's not all bad, at least you won't be in a Dreadnought.

Edit:

Anyway, no more posting for me tonight. Got work to do.

But I'll be posting a lot more side-story tomorrow, including the post-graduation party aboard our very own resident Pioneer.

Saying goodbye to his fellow officers, Joseph meandered to a nearby terminal where he accessed the map of the station. What he assumed was the AI told him that his ship, the havoc, was in dock 12. Downloading the map to his data slate meant that he could navigate towards dock 12. As he approached the elevator to the dock level, a group of drunk marines walked past where Joseph was. Because he had snuck into the shadows, and made note of their ship and numbers. After exiting the elevator he, paused, marvelling at all of the ships at dock he could see throught the window, hundereds of them, most of them cruisers and frigates, but 4 dreadnoughts at 12 battleships, fell under his gaze. Thinking to himself, he reckon that this must be one of the heavily defended place under alliance rule, after all,, it was positioned directly above mother earth.

Dock 12 was a small gate that hid the huge ship hiding behind it. Using the retinal scanner he entered the dock and paused at the sheer size of the havoc, and how aggressive it slim hull and gull wings looked. He began walking towards the boarding ramp, but soon the lure of absolute control over a large amount of people got the better of him, so he ran. Reaching the door the two veteran marines positioned at the door regarded him strangely, “commander Inkheart I assume”
“I am”
“Any particular reason why you were running?”
“The admiral is one scary lady; I don’t want to be late. Oh and send message to prepare the ship for launch, I want her in space in half a hour, anbody not on the ship in that time loses their job”
*marine grins* “yes sir!”

As he walked towards the bridge of his ship, he sees members of his crew hurrying towards their respective locations, and how few saluted on their way past, but the ones that did were like the ,bouncer standing at the front of the ship, veterans. He assumed the ones that didn’t, were the new recruits for the ship, he knew that many of the crew had been slaughtered when the ship was breached by pirates, and had sat at dock for nearly a year.

Entering the bridge ,he observed the 10 crew members sitting at their posts, a hallmark of a older ship, the fact that it was controlled by many men, and not the AI. Even so, while in dry dock, the computer core was reinstalled and equipped with a a new smart AI, by the name of Jane. Barking the order to the room itself, joesph shouted for the AI.
“Jane!”
A flickering image of a tall and finely dressed hologram appeared on the plinth infront of him, and spoke “yes captin?”
“will the ship be ready for launch in the next 30 minutes?”
“Yes sir, but 4 of our marines are off on leave, and are some of out most experienced men”
“Well find them and bring them to the ship!”
Turning from the plinth joesph regards the rest of the bridge, it was of medium size, but with all of the crew inside, it was a cramped space, his seat right behind the rest of the crew members, and made of a plush red velvet. Sitting in the seat he brought up the files on the 4 missing marines, “ah crap” They were the drunk marines he had seen by the elevator. Today is going to be a long day.

The Mk 3 Icarus Shuttle sped through the gulf of space, the blackness eaten away by the ion drives of the blade-like craft, it's needle-like shape demolishing the distance between itself and the mammoth form of the Silent Star. Kessler sat slack-jawed in his seat, unable to fully comprehend the magnitude of the vessel. He knew there were other Alliance ships far larger than the Sentinel-Class Cruiser, but the Silent Star was his own. The voice of a rather bored American male filtered in through the shuttle's com; "Shuttle Laredo, you are clear to dock. Please proceed to Docking Bay 2B, thank you." Kessler's left leg shook madly with excitement, twitching up and down as the shuttle entered through the massive double blast doors and into the Silent Star herself. Gliding inside, the shuttle touched down, rotating slightly to land perfectly in the designated space. "Lt. Commander Kessler, I believe this is your stop. Good luck, son." Said the gruff pilot of the Laredo, a smile twitching upon his unshaven face. "Thank you, sir. I only hope I can do her and the Alliance justice." With that, the German stepped down the ramp, and onto his vessel for the very first time. Dock workers and techs milled about, seeing to other docked strike fighters and cargo. The multi-tiered room was impossibly tall, forcing Kessler to crane his head back to get full view of it. Truly, this was a dream come true. Turning a full 360 degrees to take in the entire room, Kessler stopped as he laid eyes on a pretty woman in standard XO garb standing at rigid salute in front of him, her green eyes full with nervousness. Nearly shouting, she exclaimed; "Lieutenant Hermione Quil, reporting as your Executive Officer, Lieutenant Commander. I am to escort you to the bridge at one... damn it, at once. I hope you find the Silent Star to be satisfactory." Kessler smiled at her uneasiness, laughing lightly as he said; "At ease Quil, lead on, I have no doubt that I will find this fine vessel 'satisfactory'." The woman sighed with relief, her shoulders loosening as she beckoned for Kessler to enter the lift near them.

Like a giddy little boy, Kessler nearly bounced into the bridge, only just able to retain his professionalism. As one, the men and women on the bridge stood, granting their commander a salute. Snapping his heels smartly together, Kessler responded in kind, almost letting a smile escape his face as he paced for all the world like a miffed admiral to his control chair. Sitting into it lightly, Kessler told the crew "at ease", before running his hands along the elegant chair, feeling it's contours and grooves, stroking the perfectly round buttons with his fingers. Manfred sighed, letting himself smile as he turned to the crew, swiveling the chair about to address them. He stood, pushing himself from the seat as protocol demanded. "Men and women of the good ship Silent Star, I am Lieutenant Commander Manfred Kessler, and I am honored to be serving with you among the halls of this magnificent vessel. I only hope that through my actions, I may bring honor to both the Alliance, and this magnificent vessel herself. In the coming years, I hope to blaze new trails across the stars, and bring justice to any pirate or renegade that may lurk within."

On board the Vanguard's command centre, Sharpe gave a deep sigh as she felt her ship come to life beneath her, it had been too long since she had sat here, Sharpe knew she was a combat officer at heart, and while training rookies had been interesting, she knew where her true place in the galaxy was.

"Sammy, what's the status of the other ships in the 14th." she asked, as a holopad beside her chair flickered to life forming into a young woman in alliance uniform, Sammy had started life as a dumb AI, but the aftermath of New London had been good to her and her captain and she had received full sentience, something she had been profoundly grateful for and had become something of a friend to the Admiral, and not just another computer.

"All ships aside from the Horizon have completed preparations and are awaiting permission to launch, Admiral." Sammy replied, her chosen accent hailing from the Russian Steppes, "Also The Captain of the Night Crawler wishes to speak to you."

"He can wait, I'm going to speak to all of them in a minute. Chase up what's going on with the Horizon and have it sorted out."

"A Pleasure Admiral." Sammy replied, with a salute, then the holopad shut down. Sharpe triggered her comm.

"All ships, this is Vanguard, commence launch procedures and form up around me, make your speed one half and proceed to Lunar Orbit, we are now at Condition three. Vanguard out."

With a series of clangs that went unheard in the void, Vanguard's docking clamps retracted into the man hull of the station as its Ion drives flared, pushing the Carrier free of the yawing opening it had been sheltering in for so long an into the cold grasp of space.

They were away.

Ship Ready Conditions

4: Ship is inactive, only used when in dock, all systems are shut down.
3: Ship is active but not combat ready, used when traversing friendly space where there is no threat, engines and interior systems are active.
2: Ship is combat ready, used when on patrol and attack is expected, all systems are online.
1: Ship is engaged in combat. All systems online.

(occ: Once a Captain is in command of his ship, NO OTHER PLAYER MAY DIRCT HIS/HER ACTIONS OR THAT OF THEIR SHIP.)

issac listened to sharpes command and shrugged at his crew. "you heard her, lunch this puppy, system 3." as the ship sprung to life, issac almost yelled his excitement.the feeling was unlike anything he had felt. as he looked down,he saw his AI come alive on the data pad.
"hello good sir commander." it looked like a young brit.had the accent to. this would be fun.
"yo,err...sir france. make sure this goes smoothly, after allits your job lil man." issac then laughed very loud.oh,his side.
"as you command, commander issac vanguard." issac stopped at the sound of his last name.he looked down and stared at his left hand. as he felt the ship launch,he ripped off the glove and stared at the tattoo. he hated this thing, but it held to many memories to get rid of.he felt himself frowning and did not like it. looking up,he put on his gloves and a fake smile.been a long time since it had been fake.
"commander sir, launch complete, heading to form up with the vanguard."
"good."

"Red activate system three, proceed to lunar orbit" Dylan said changing the spped to half." red, what are our munition levels?"
"One tenth Commander" Red replied.
" Pray to Jesus no pirates choose to attack this ship today" he said. Looking down at his scabbard, Dylan feels a rush of pride, joy, and honor to serve the alliance.
" Sir" a crewman pipes up " We are behind the fleet, at this rate we will not reach lunar orbit until 19 minutes after the fleet. Permission to increase speed to catch up?"
" Red, request another Comlink with Sharpe. I would like to see what she thinks" Dylan says waiting for the channel to open.

“Captain, the ship is ready for departure on your order” KIRK reported to Garan, who had now returned from his quarters to the bridge.
“Disengage docking clamps,” Garan ordered, “Go to condition 3.”
A loud clang rang out, as the docking clamps securing the Void Phoenix in place disengaged. The ion drives flared blue, and the Void Phoenix began to move.
“Navigator,” Garan said, “Bring us up to three quarters speed, and form up with the Vanguard”
“Aye Aye captain” The navigator replied.
“KIRK,” Garan said to his AI, “Prepare the armament and strike craft for battle, just in case. You never know when the Admiral might pull a surprise exercise. If she does, I want to be ready.”
“Ok captain,” the AI replied.
“You could call it condition 2.5 if you like.” Garan said.
“Captain,” the navigator said, “We are approaching the Vanguard.”
“Match speed with the Vanguard, and form up with the rest of the fleet.”

Garan hoped they would see some action soon, but willed it not to be something to powerful, wouldn’t want to lose the ship in the first engagement.

BIC: ….. A rocky start part 4….

Trix and Nexus lay in their command chairs, the screens around them showed the optic feeds from the sensors on the hull. They lay perfectly still, a complete contradiction to what happened in their mind. Trix was processing countless amounts of data, trying to get a clear picture of what her ship could do. Nexus helped by processing the secondary data on his own. Trix accepted the data files from Nexus. She was baffled of what he could do in such a short time span. She quickly attached the secondary information to the skeletal structure she had formed. She smiled as she connected herself with the holo-projector hanging from the deck. It projected a detailed copy of Aslinde, now floating around on the bridge. “Impressive.” Nexus thought. “25 seconds and she knew everything there was on this ship.” It seemed, that his acting commander was at least competent. His mind flew back to the disastrous Battle for New London. He could still hear the screams of his crew as kinetic missiles pierced the hull. It was all the fault of his ignorant Commander, throwing lives away, just for his own life. The memory disgusted him. He was pulled out of his memories as he received an incoming link. “Patch it trough, Nexus.” He complied and the model of the Aslinde disappeared. In its place came the stern visage of the Admiral.

"All ships, this is Vanguard, commence launch procedures and form up around me, make your speed one half and proceed to Lunar Orbit, we are now at Condition three. Vanguard out."

“Was that Admiral Sharpe?” he asked. “Do you know her?” Trix asked. “No, just heard about her.” He said, his problems weren’t the captains concern. “All you need to know is, if she ask do it. She’s not afraid to kick your arse if we don’t get the Aslinde up. “Hmm… I don’t have an ass left captain.” Trix laughed as she heard the officers joke. “You lucky man. Now lets get this bird up. She pulled a needle out of the bio-sustainer. This thing would feed her, by giving her the needed substances. As well as cleaning her body from waste. Which was really convenient in a Zero-G ship. The needle pierced her skin, its hooks opened anchoring itself in her bloodstream. She layed herself down again, her chair polarized keeping her stuck too her place, instead of just floating around. “Get us out of here, Nexus.”

The mechanical Clamps holding onto the Aslinde opened, releasing the vessel into space. Small ion thrusters pushed the Aslinde away from its docking bay. She felt the artificial gravity fall away. Her blue hair hovered above her head. All over the ship, her crew began to float, until they activated their magnet boots. Slowly the distance increased. “We’ve reached the zone perimeter, Ma’am.” Trix checked the output of the thrusters, they performed well. “Then let’s get going.” She plotted her course into a moon orbit. The engines emitted an intense blue flame that pushed itself to his coordinates. Her sensors showed a small vessel speeding past her. His ID number identified the ship as the Mutt. “Seems we’re not going to be the first.” Trix said as she watched the ship decreasing in size. “You want us took take his engines out, captain.” Nexus asked. “Don’t be foolish, he would be sad if he wasn’t the first one to get there.” “Too bad.” Nexus replied. For a moment Trix tought that Nexus had aimed for the ship of the Admiral, but she didn’t find a data trace. She dismissed it as her imagination going wild.

Criminology, but insted of the criminal/justice view, we look at the person and his situation.

ex: Criminology says you commit crime because you have impulse problems

Wr think, it's the situation who caused the problems, first we should look to solve the causes of the problems...

Social Security is ment for prevention, on a basic level. not reaction...

Hope this made sense.

Oh, thanks.

“all hands, prepare to launch!” The voice of the captain rang throughout the ship, the men and women on board readying themselves for the feeling of zero gravity, and they the weirder feeling of artificial gravity reengaging.
“jane”
“yes captain?”
“were the marines found?”
“yes captain”
“good” secretly pleased at the finding of the drunk crew, he would of hated to lose 4 highly trained and experienced men, after all, they would be looking for new worlds to colonise, and that meant exploring the surface, the task would require men that wouldn’t be too eager to fire at local wildlife. Turning and placing himself in the captains chair, he spoke a order to the crewmembers in the bridge to brace themselves. Bringing up a touchpad, he navigated trough the menus and found the order to launch the ship.

A siren rang out in the dock containing the havoc, as the oxygen rich area was being de pressurised, and the antigravity disabled. With a sharp hiss, the air was sucked out of the room, and the antigravity disabled. Every man aboard the havoc felt their body no longer affected by gravity, a odd feeling for the new recruits. Inside the bridge Joseph gestured a order to the watching AI to activate the ships anti gravity, which it did. All around the ship, the crew slammed down onto the deck, a few sustaining injuries. Now the great doors of the dock opened, like a great maw to the unending monster that was space. Next with a loud crack, the clams disengaged and the ship was no longer secured. Small convectional jets moved the ship out of the hold and into the beast. As the rockets fell away, the main ion drive started up, incinerating dust and debris from the exhaust is a bright orange haze, before it settled into the characteristic blue of a ion drive.

From the bridge, Joesph gave out orders to power the ship momentarily to full power, and then down to 2 thirds power, a trick he learnt in the academy to bring the engines up to maximum efficiently quicker. As this was happening the admirals message blurted over the radio, scanning open space for the Vanguard using the external optical cameras. Speaking to the navigator, Joesph asked him to bring them down to half power, and put them in lunar orbit. Thinking to himself `boy, I’m liking this captain malarkey, but I got a feeling the admiral has got something planned`.

as the mutt fell in its place alongside the vangaurd, issac sighed. he just wanted to blast off,but he had to wait on the others. as he stared at a star map of were they were going,he thought about what might happen. they would have those supply ships that pirates would want, but the dreadnaught would most likley scare them away. as he heard the other ships falling in,he looked up. hopefully they were leaving soon. smiling,he stood up and stretched.

Meanwhile, In the Armstrong Sector

The Wolf-Pack had been shadowing the Alliance Dreadnought for days now, staying just out of detection range as their number grew, one by one, as other Wolves slipped into the system from beyond the range of the enemy's Hyper-space Inhibitor, soon they would strike, and deal a heavy blow to the weaklings from Earth.

"Those fools," Thought Enforcer Malcoth, "They believe a lone Dreadnought Immune to our wrath, we'll show them that we are to be feared."

He Glanced across at Lord Sanguine, seated in the command throne above him, hoping for the gesture that would spell this Alliance ships doom.

Lord Sanguine was examining the enemy ship before them, oblivious to the danger that lurked at its heels, Then he glanced at his lieutenant and nodded.

"Wolf Pack! To the Hunt!" Malcoth ordered, and as one the Pack de-cloaked and fired.

The Alliance ship reacted instantly, coming about slowly as its shield flared under multiple cannon hits, the ion cannon turrets on it's spine flared with bright beams of energy as they sliced five of the frigates in half.

but there were many more where they came from, and the Alliance Dreadnought's shield failed under the onslaught and its mighty hull began to take damage.

Still the Dreadnought fought on, it's guns claiming ten more of it's attackers and now Torpedoes were screaming from its underside, splitting into a total of thirty deadly projectiles that would surely destroy the majority of its remaining attackers, but its time had just run out.

"Fire." ordered Lord Sanguine lazily, and his crew leapt to obey,

A beam of pure energy struck the unshielded dreadnought amidships, brighter than the distant sun and for a few seconds the Alliance ship resisted the titanic energies that had been unleashed against it, then began to break apart as secondary explosions tore apart its hull.

The Beam disengaged, the Wolf-pack activated their hyper-space drives and vanished, their task completed.

"This is Group-Captain Elson, Code red, reactors flaring, Hull integrity failing, All hands abandon ship, I repeat all hands-bbztfh"

for a brief moment a second sun flared in the Armstrong Sector, Then the Knight of Eternity was no more.

Natalie passed several people on her way to her quarters - mostly engineers and officers, although there was the occasional Marine or two, who generally smirked at the sight of the Private trailing behind her. Eventually, after walking through seemingly endless corridors and taking an elevator, they reached deck two - officers' quarters. It had been tradition for the Captain's quarters to be a large en-suite to the bridge for a long time, but due to fatalities from such engineering this was changed for the newer ships, providing a greater degree of safety for a ship's commander.

When they arrived at her door, the Private deposited Natalie's luggage in front of her. "Here you go ma'am."
"Thank you, Private," She replied curtly.
"Please, call me Tom," He insisted charmingly.
"You're dismissed, Private Tom," She ordered sharply, before opening her quarters and stepping inside with her luggage.

As the door closed in his face, Tom grinned. "Aw yeah, I'm in."

Executive Officer Lieutenant LeGuin sat in his command chair on the bridge of The Pioneer, eager to depart. Word had reached him that Captain Rose was aboard the ship and he wondered what was taking her so long - his excitement was turning into impatience. He had already had all crew and Marines recalled more than an hour ago, he'd already had the AI run and re-run every single diagnostic possible and had ensured that their ammunition stocks and miscellaneous supplies were at optimum capacity.

Yet they still remained docked. At this rate, they were going to be the last ship to join the rest of the fleet. He casually noted from a nearby monitor that there were still a few other members of the Centennial Fleet docked - they still had time to yet save themselves from the embarrassment of being last to leave. Hell, this ship was the pride of the Martian technicians and engineers - a pinnacle of technology, three years in the making. They couldn't disappoint now.

Then the bridge communicator sounded and the softly spoken words of their commander filled the room.
"This is Captain Rose to the bridge, status?"
LeGuin smiled, "Finally," He muttered under his breath before replying, "This is Lieutenant LeGuin, the ship's as ready as she will ever be and we can depart as soon as you give the word."
"Very good Lieutenant, begin undocking at your leisure and I'll join you shortly. Rose out."

About damn time, he thought. "Alright, release docking clamps, fueling umbilicals and support pylons," He ordered.
"Released sir," Ensign Brooks replied from the helm.
"Time to get this show on the road. Brooks, fire up the maneuvering thrusters, one-quarter thrust - lets take this slowly, the Admiral will gut us if we so much as scratch the paint on this beauty."
"One-quarter thrust, engaged," Brooks acknowledged as the ship began to move steadily backwards.
"Ops, engage artificial gravity generator and advise station command to open the hangar doors," LeGuin ordered Ensign Lee at the Operations control station on the slightly raised platform to his left.
"Way ahead of you sir, gravity already engaged and doors opening," Lee replied with a grin.
"Comms, send our regards to Bob and his commanding officers, extending our thanks for their hospitality," LeGuin ordered Junior-Lieutenant Raul at the Communication station.
"Consider it done sir."
"What's our weapon status, Chief?" He asked Master Chief Price - a very important and influential man aboard The Pioneer. He was their Chief of Security, tactical officer, commander of the Colonial Marine forces aboard the ship and Marine liaison officer when dealing with internal affairs concerning security and military operations and rulings. He was a heavily-built and very experienced man, having spent eighteen of his forty years in service as a Marine, having served aboard a dozen different ships in his time.
"Weapon systems offline as-per Ready Condition Three," The Chief replied.
"Duly noted, lets keep it that way."

A minute later and the intimidatingly large vessel had cleared the station. Half a minute after that and they had matched course and speed with the rest of the fleet.

After orbiting above the Spawning from of Lunar Base Joan d'arc for ten minutes, the 14th fleet had finally gathered its entire strength above that historic site, the Horizan lagging behind slightly as its old frame tried to keep up with the newer vessels, and while she was waiting Sharpe increased magnification to examine the European flag that covered the main done, a feeling of pride in her chest.

They had been the first to realize their shared potential and she smiled as she remembered the battle cry all Europeans were taught when they joined the military

"For Europa! For your brothers! For Your family! Know why you are here!" Fleets drawn extensively from that country still used it as a rallying cry today.

"Admiral, the fleet is assembled and ready to move out." Sammy informed her tactfully, appearing at her side with her usual suddenness, Sahrpe nodded and returned the view screen to its default setting.

"Vanguard to all ships, we are moving with best possible speed to the jump point near Pluto's orbit, maintain defensive formation and begin charging your hyperdrives. Vanguard out."

Then she activated her internal comm, "Captain Volk, if you would?"

"Da, Admiral" the Captain located within the ESM module perched on the ships underside triggered her own comms to the fleet, and spoke with a commanding tone.

"This is Captain Volk, Fleet Intelligence, our task will be to analyze all sensor data and generate Mission Objectives, we are also responsible for maintaining the Battle-Net in combat, please connect your tactical displays to mine and be on alert for mission updates. Fleet Intelligence out."

Following their admiral, the 14th fleet broke orbit like they had done so a hundred times, the little cluster of ships gathering speed as they moved away from mankind's birth place and deeper into the void.

"This is Death Jester to the 14th fleet, Good luck and God speed." Hailed an American Destroyer squadron as the new fleet passed, other Alliance ships were quick to wish the new members luck

"This is Queen Victoria 2, Give them hell out there 14th, The Alliance Stands!"

"Farsighted here, make us proud 14th!"

"Matterhorn here, The Alliance stands!"

"This is Day of Judgment, let us know if any bullies try anything, and big brother will answer the call. Stay safe."

Well-wishes and support followed the fleet through the Home System, then as they crossed the outer line of defense stations, energy flared across their hulls and the fleet vanished into hyperspace, as if they had never existed at all.

Nine Hours later, the Aria system.

With a silent roar and storm of energy, the 14th fleet returned to real-space in impeccable formation, despite the fact several of the captains had taken advantage the length of the journey to celebrate their commissions, they would be nursing headaches later Shapre mused.

"Priority alert!' Volk interrupted, her voice tense, "We have detected signs of combat above the Planets surface, multiple capital ships class vessels detected, large debris ring formed in lower Aria orbit. We are receiving a distress call, standby."

the comms crackled and then desperate sound voice of an alliance officer came on line.

"This is broadsword station to any alliance ships in the area, our fleet has been destroyed, multiple hostiles are closing on our position and we are under heavy fire, requesting support!"

"This is Stalwart Dawn, they are slaughtering us!"
"This is Crossbow, sustained major structural damage! we're breaking up! Mayday! Mayd-bzzzt-"

"Battlestations!" Sharpe ordered, "Run out the guns! raise shields and load both tubes, launch all strike craft! All ships move to condition one! Combat speed, our brothers are dying out there!"

You are now in combat.

"KIRK," Garan ordered urgently, "Bring the shields up to full and sound general quarters! Condition 1"
"Right away sir" The AI replied.
"Brrrb, Brrrb, Brrrb, General Quarters, General Quarters, all hands man your battle stations” The alarm rang out through every room and corridor in the ship.
Oh Heck, Garan thought to himself, I didn’t expect combat this soon.
“Now you see why I wanted the weapons ready!” Garan said to KIRK.

“Fire Torpedo tube,” Garan said, “Target the Carrier”
“Ready defence lasers, and track those interceptors”
“Standby to launch strike craft, I want to get those interceptors neutralised first though. I want them available to launch as soon as I give the orders.”

“Kirk,” Garan said urgently, “Run battle simulations and combat predictions, I want to know how effective we will be. Also, stay alert for any hostiles warping into the system.”
“Already started sir” KIRK replied.

Natalie sat on the soft, welcoming leather couch. She looked around at her new "apartment", letting the fact that it was going to be home for the foreseeable future sink in. It was also a lot bigger than the room with en-suite she'd enjoyed at the Academy. It had been nice, but this.. this was like luxury for her. She smiled. Yes, I think I'm going to enjoy being a Captain after all, she thought cheerfully. She idly wandered over to the stylised desk in the corner and pressed the red button on it. A computer screen slid up from within the desk and flashed on with a polite bleep.
"Welcome, Commander Rose," A low but soft, soothing, quiet male voice said as if from within the very walls. There was in fact some truth to this. The AI had just spoken to her for the first time.
"Hi. D'you have a name?"
"The crew have been calling me Caretaker."
"You're not like other AIs, are you?" Natalie asked perceptively.
"That is correct, Commander Rose. I assume you managed to guess that due to your highly inquisitive and curious nature."
"What?"
"Oh, forgive me Commander Rose, I have been analysing your file, after all, we are going to be spending a very long time together."
"Who programmed your voice and personality? It's disarming but relaxing."
"I was programmed with you in mind - In fact I was the last componant to be installed into The Pioneer. I'm pleased that you like me."
"You seem somewhat.. tamer.. than a lot of AIs that I've met before."
"I am a new type of AI. I am increasingly more intelligent, perceptive and more aesthetically pleasing than many of my older "cousins" as it were. I am sentient like all other AIs, however I have been programmed with strict directives on how to operate, although I have a great deal of freedom and choice as to how I carry out said directives. I'm I've gotten you interested now, so I've just brought the directives up on your monitor screen and I'm sure that they are all to your satisfaction, Natalie - I assume you don't mind me calling you by your first name in private as it relaxes you and makes you more at ease."
Natalie almost laughed as she was reading the directives, "Now who's perceptive?"
"Natalie, you may like to know that the bridge crew - Lieutenant LeGuin in particular - are eager to set sail, so to speak."
"In that case Caretaker, could you please open a comms link to the bridge?"
"Of course, seeing as how you asked so nicely," Caretaker replied, a hint of humor in his voice.
"Don't get cheeky Mr. AI, you've got a ship to run."
"I thought that was in your job description?"
Natalie's expression changed to one of growing frustration, knowing that Caretaker could see perfectly well.
"My apologies, just a bit of fun. Comlink open."
"This is Captain Rose to the bridge, status?" Natalie asked.
"This is Lieutenant LeGuin, the ship's as ready as she will ever be and we can depart as soon as you give the word," Came the answer.
"Very good Lieutenant, begin undocking at your leisure and I'll join you shortly. Rose out," Natalie replied. She grinned as it hit her. That was her first order. Pleased, she began to unpack her belongings, taking her time to make her new quarters homely.

--

LeGuin smiled at all of the friendly and encouraging comments they were receiving from other ships and formations as their fleet broke orbit and headed out into the darkness of space.
A fleet-wide communique from a 'Captain Volk' requested that they all link their tactical displays to him aboard the Vanguard.
"Make it so, Ensign Lee."
The young Asian man did as he was instructed.
Soon it was time for the Hyper-jump and the good Captain still hadn't shown herself. LeGuin sighed.. it's not like it actually mattered that much; he enjoyed having the bridge all to himself, but it just wasn't right that the Captain wasn't next to him on their first voyage.
"Ensign Brooks, bring the Hyperdrive online and match course with the Vanguard. We want to make sure we go where they're going."
"Yes sir," Brooks replied, tapping the touch-screen of his console to carry out his instructions.
"Going to Hyper space in five, four.." Caretaker counted as one by one, the hulls of the ships in front of them were covered in energy before disappearing into a tear in space.
"..Three, two.."
LeGuin smiled. "To boldy go where no man has gone before," He whispered.
"..One. Hyper drive engaged, entering Hyper space." As Caretaker spoke, space disappeared and the view screen was filled a with blue and black blurr that was space; unregonisable from within the hyper corridor that the fleet now traveled through.

Just then, the elevator door slid smoothely open and a delicate-looking woman stepped through, onto the bridge. She was wearing full ceremonial uniform and had a sheathed sword strapped on her side, neck-length blonde hair looking pristine. Ensign Raul was closest to the elevator and first to react with a practiced and prepared call of "Captain on the bridge!"
All of the crew members immediately stood and saluted their commander. "At ease," She ordered softly as she walked over to her Captain's Chair and sat in it. She swivelled around in it slowly. "It swivells.. good. Well Lieutenant, everything seems to be on order here," She said as she turned to her second-in-command. "Allow me to congratulate you on our first hyper jump."
"I'm glad you approve," LeGuin replied.
"Right, give me the full run down, I want every diagnostic and system on this ship checked and checked again. We're going to make sure this ship is in perfect shape," Natalie ordered.
"I already checked back at the station--" LeGuin began, but Natalie cut him off. "Do it again please. It's not satisfactory until I see it with my own eyes."
The first sets of data appeared on each bridge officer's console and they began to go through it, checking every single detail over and over again as the data stream turned into a continuous flow, then a flood.
"Caretaker, alter data flow to more controllable levels please," Natalie ordered the AI.
"Apologies, Captain Rose, I will not make the same mistake again," Caretaker apologized.

As an hour went by in more-or-less silence, Lee piped up. "Erm.. Captain.. I heard there's going to be a post-graduation party tonight to celebrate your new command."
Natalie turned to face the Ops officer. "You heard correctly. But it's not just my celebration, it's in celebration of this ship, this fleet and a hundred years of peace between the nations of Earth. Hopefully it'll provide the crew with some fun as well."
"You bet it will, "LeGuin piped up, "We've got three-hundred caskets of Mercury's finest alcohol!"
"When you say 'finest' Lieutenant, you mean 'strongest'?"
"Sort of. It tastes bloody good as well!" LeGuin could already tell that the bridge crew were all going to get along great.

Three hours into the Hyper jump, Natalie made an announcement to her staff. "Well, we've sat around analysing data for more than long enough, I say it's time to get the party started!"
"Here, here!" LeGuin replied, leaping out of his chair.
"Caretaker, take over control of the ship," LeGuin ordered the AI.
"As you wish, Lieutenant," Caretaker's soft, seductive voice spoke once again.

--

Four hours into the hyper jump. Party time. Two whole adjacent cargo bays had been cleared specifically for this, the others being crammed fuller than full with supplies. A stage with a DJ set had been set up, with massive speakers either side. A bar had been set up near the back and a pantheon of fancy lights and a disco ball had been set up. Music was playing full blast. Everyone was dressed to fit the occasion and the entire ship had been left in the caring hands of Caretaker.

Natalie Maria Rose was dressed in a very expensive and stylish red dress and she had dug out her finest perfume for the party. She smiled as she saw herself in the mirror, before heading to the party.

LeGuin and Price were both dressed very differently. The Lieutenant had opted for a fancy suit, whilst the Master Cheif had gone for a much more "rough" look, wearing a leather jacket and jeans. With his shades, red bandana and goatee, he really looked the part of a biker of old. Everyone had an intoxicating drink in hand and were partying like eighteen-year-old school graduates without a care in the world.

Natalie and LeGuin had delivered a rousing speech on the stage before allowing the party to start proper, which had been received with massive applause and cheering. The deafeningly loud music resumed and everyone got on with having a good time.

Natalie sat at the bar, drinking a Tequila, when someone tapped her shoulder. She turned around and saw a certain smiling private dressed casually. "Care to dance?" He asked.
"Tom!" She exclaimed, downing the rest of the her drink, "Of course," She smiled, allowing herself to be carefully pulled to her feet.

And so they danced. Natalie couldn't remember feeling so calm in years - since before the academy. Just to be held in the caring grip of a charming young man, the simple pleasure of completely innocent touch.. it was perfect. She layed her head on his shoulder and smiled as he held her.

So it went on for hours, everyone getting more and more drunk and enjoying themselves more and more.

“Jane, bring us up to the rest of the fleet, and begin hyperspace transition as soon as the vanguard begins”
Turning from the bridge, joesph began the walk to his quarters, knowing the journey would take many hours, and wanted to take the time to get some rest, and prepare himself for what was to come. As he entered his room, that was thankfully near to the bridge, he would not of wanted to have to of walked the length of the ship to get to his quarters, just doing so would have been worthy of rest. The furnishing of the room itself was plain, but with many luxuries, such as a comfortable looking bed, and a private entertainment (xbox! ) system and screen on the wall, he knew this could also be used to control the ship, and contact the bridge, In fact the havoc had 3 possible places to control the ship from, just in case any other places were damaged and rendered unusable. After undressing and putting on his nightwear, he contacted Jane, and told her to take over his duties in looking after the ship in hyper drive state, while he rested and to wake his shortly before they exited hyper space. As he lay, he felt the ship rattle slightly as it enter hyper speed, and knew they would be travelling many times faster than it would be possible to travel in normal space.

The way Jane decided to wake Joesph up was to play a loud extract of his favourite band, and turn on the lights. This woke him, and he found out through his bedside screen that they would exit hyperspace in little under a hour. Dressing into his captains uniform he thought of how the other cadets were faring aboard their ships specifically how the 4 in command of the capital ships were doing commanding so many people, but he thought with regret that all of those ships were much younger than his, and so had much more advanced computer software and AI in them, heck the void phoenix had a computer that was probably more powerful than all the other ships combined!

As he entered the bridge a half hour later the marine standing guard shouted “CAPTIAN ON DECK, ATTEN-SHUN!”
As the crew snapped to attention he walked to his seat before calling them as they were, and asked jane to bring them to condition 2, for they were travelling to a area of space they had not contacted, and so did not know of their state.

As the Havok exited hyperspace along the other ships of the fleet, the alarms started blaring, and a message came through the speakers
“This is broadsword station to any alliance ships in the area, our fleet has been destroyed, multiple hostiles are closing on our position and we are under heavy fire, requesting support” Bringing the ship to bear on the enemy, Joesph pressed his palm to a screen next to his chair, the only way to bring the ship to condition 1.
“bring the ion cannons to bear on the battleship, now!” Two heavy lances of energy scythed through the air towards the overlord class battleship, staying mostly of target, one heading towards each end of the ship.
“Now bring the shields up to full power, and make sure the interceptors are ready, in case they send bombers at us” Turning to the navigator he asked him to bring the ship round the rear of the enemy, and that the heavy cannons should fire at targets of opportunity, but to focus on the battleship!

Natalie lifted her head and stared into Tom's eyes, her arms rapped around his neck and his around her waist.
"You look beautiful," He said.
Natalie smiled, "Thanks, you're not too bad yourself Prince Charming."
The music was loud and everyone was energetic and jumping around and waving their arms and getting drunk, except for the two of them, in each others' arms in the middle of the room, the disco ball glittering above their heads.

After awhile, Natalie became tired of the noisy atmosphere. "Tom, can you take me back to my quarters please? I'm tired."
"Alright," He agreed and took her hand; leading her through the bustling party. Soon, they reached the exit which opened upon their approach, the standard light of the corridors dazzling compared to the dark cargo bay, where the only light was from the strobe and coloured lights as well as the reflective disco ball. It took a few seconds for their sight to adjust. They steadily made their way back to her quarters, seeing many crew members doing likewise - the hyper jump would be coming to an end in three hours and the ship needed to be manned - LeGuin had started to control the ebb and flow of the party to slowly get people to leave. They saw the effects of this as dozens upon dozens of drunk men and women stumbled about trying to find their quarters.

When they finally reached the officers' deck and more specifically the Captain's quarters - the door at the end of the corridor, Natalie turned and looked at Tom.
"Thank you for tonight. I haven't enjoyed myself this much in years."
"It was my pleasure," He replied.
They stood, staring into each others' eyes for a few awkward seconds, before slowly, their heads came closer until their mouths touched and they kissed. It was a simple kiss, but symbolised the beginning of something special. They pulled away from each other slowly.
"I'll see you later," Tom promised.
"I know. Good night," Natalie replied.
With a final glance, Tom turned and walked down the corridor. As Natalie turned and tried to open her door with the finger print recognition scanner, it refused to open. She was about to override the lock with her command codes, when she realised that this was in fact the wrong door. It was LeGuin's, hers was at the opposite end of the corridor. She turned and began walking in the other direction, when two extremely drunk crewmen turned the corner, barely standing straight. She tried to pass them, but they didn't let her through.
"Well 'ello, whatsh we gots 'ere?" The first slurred.
"Pretty lishle alley slut," The second continued.
Natalie felt immediately intimidated, "You're drunk, please return to your quarters," She ordered.
"C'mere bitsh," The first snarled, grabbing her by the hair and dragging her to the wall. The second man started feeling up her leg.
She started screaming. "Get off me!" She shouted as she struggled in a futile attempt to get free of the drunk men. She punched the first in the face, almost getting free, but he hit her back in the face - harder. Blood vessels in her nose were ruptured and blood started to trickle out of her nostril. The man started groping her breasts as the other lifted her dress.
Just then, the first fell back in pain as he was kicked in the stomach and the second followed, thrown backwards as Tom appeared seemingly from nowhere. "Get the feth off her!" He shouted, kicking the first man in the head, before leaping on the second, delivering several hard punches to his face, knocking him out cold. The first tried to struggle to his feet, but Tom kicked him in the stomach once again.
"Caretaker, get security here now!" He yelled.
"I had already notified the Chief, Private," Came the AI's reply.
Tom rushed over to Natalie, who was sobbing profusely and he enveloped her in a tight hug. "It's okay, you're safe now," He whispered. He picked her up and carried her back to her quarters as a team of security lead by Chief Price arrived to apprehend the extremely drunken would-be rapists.
"You boys are gonna be spending a long time on the inside," Rick Price informed them, even though one was unconscious, as his men dragged them away to the brig. The Chief followed Tom and Natalie back the Captain's quarters.
"Private, take this," Price ordered Tom, removing his holster and handing it to Tom.
"Now you stand guard outside the Captain's quarters, y'here?"
"Yes sir," Tom replied.
"Good man," the gruff Chief of Security replied as he turned and headed off to pay his new prisoners a little visit.
"You're going to be okay Natalie," Tom assured the Captain, holding her closely even as he pressed her finger against the print recognizer; opening the door. He secured the holstered laser pistol around his waist before carrying the sobbing Captain into her room and depositing her on her bed. He kissed her on the forehead, whispering into her ear "Natalie, you're safe. I'm going to stand outside - no one will get in."
"I know," she replied tearfully, "I'll be alright."
As he left her and stood outside her door, she crawled under her covers and cried herself to sleep.

--
//++One Hour Later++//

LeGuin sat in his chair on the bridge, back in uniform, contemplating what to do. He had to assume command of the ship now - there was no question about it after what had happened to the Captain. He could still barely believe it now. To think that two of her own men would try and rape her on her first day in command was despicable. It went without saying that those two men would be severely punished - LeGuin had even considered having them shot, but two things stopped him from ordering it. For one thing, they were extremely intoxicated and hence were not totally in control of their actions and secondly an execution would be too quick. No, these men would suffer. He had no idea how long he was going to keep them in the brig; but it was going to be a very long time.

To make matters worse, most of the crew were completely shattered and resting in their quarters - they were going to have one hell of a hangover when they woke up tomorrow. Fortunately, LeGuin, Price and the rest of the bridge crew had carefully limited the amount of alcohol they had allowed themselves to indulge in; someone needed to run this ship.

//++9 hours into hyper jump++//
The entire bridge crew had been surprised when the Captain had turned up, in full uniform with sword strapped to her side, just in time to supervise the exiting of hyper space. Her face was red from crying, but she stood tall, however she wore a look of someone deeply affected by something. She silently sat in her chair.
"Exiting hyper space in five, four, three, two, one. Hyper space exited," Caretaker informed everyone.
Immediately the comms were alive with chatter as real space rushed back into view.

LeGuin was in complete shock. Fortunately, Caretaker compensated. "Going to condition one; raising shields, arming Torpedoes, charging Ion cannons, awaking Marines and crew."
Then Captain Rose spoke, seemingly more focused than she ever had been since she'd first heard about the ship. She quickly ascertained the tactical situation before speaking. "Focus all fire on that Overlord-class Battleship - hammer their shields with all available weapons and then disable their ship's engines and weapon systems; have Marines standing by in the hanger at the boarding craft. We're taking that ship and its Captain to get some answers. Ensign Brooks, take us ahead, full thrust. Lieutenant Raul, request the Aslinde, Silent Star and Havoc to fall in and concentrate fire on the hostile Battleship until its shields are down, then separate and engage other targets. This one is ours."

So focused on the damaged fleet in orbit, the Pirate fleet didn't react to the new arrivals until they were almost on top of them, the Pioneer, escorted by strike craft from the Vangaurd and the Havok closed the distance with surprising speed, the Battleship's point defenses and the Night Crawlers flack, helping the Interceptors clear the way for the bombers.

Screaming down on the battleship from "above" where their volley of anti-ship fire could do the most damage, the three squadrons tore two of the hostile's ion cannons from their mounts in bright flashes of plasma, the experienced pilots spiraling away through the wreckage with the enemy point defenses spaying ineffectively at where they had been.

"This is cerberus lead, you are all clear Pioneer, light that flecker up, out"

Pioneer and HavoK responded with gusto, bright beams of energy connected the two alliance ships with their target, who's shields flared under the energy, then collapsed entirely, and its return fire was disappointing, stopped easily by their shields.

The nearby Carrier responded to its allies peril by hammering the Pioneer with its cannons, while the Cruisers harrying broadsword came about and accelerated, moving to assist their flagship

Mutts maximum shield strength is boosted by +4/+4 per frigate in the squadron beyond itself, and any hits to the group will deduct from this shared total (so its 12/12 for as long as it remains in formation). The other frigates will fire on his target.

Cursing that he had arrived late to the scene, Kessler ordered the shields deployed, as well as the activation of all offensive systems. "Place ourselves between the Broadsword and any enemy vessels attempting to menace her! As the ship crawled in front of her wounded comrade, the Lucifer-Pattern heavy cannons flared to life, spewing cobalt death in the direction of the renegade cruiser Magog. Kessler sat at the edge of his seat, chewing his lower lip. This was it, the First Fire. He prayed he would make the Alliance proud.

"Caretaker, open a commlink to the Void Phoenix and Vanguard and advise them to assure that all strike craft have been launched; we need to overpower the hostile squadrons quickly with superior numbers. We'll only have a 7:6 advantage, but it might be enough. Order the bomber squadrons to concentrate their runs on the Cruiser's as they have no Point Defenses."
"Yes, Captain," Caretaker replied.
"Chief, focus our Heavy Cannon fire on their engines - we need to immobilize them. Fire Torpedoes at their remaining Ion Cannon and destroy it," LeGuin ordered.
"Firing now," Chief Price replied from the tactical station.
The Heavy Cannons mounted on The Pioneer's back fired, hurling their great payloads towards the enemy Battleship's engines as Torpedoes streaked through space, eating up the distance between themselves and their target. At such close range, there was no chance of missing.

"Caretaker, order all Marines to board their attack gunships and prepare for launch once we've crippled the enemy vessel. We're taking this one alive," Natalie ordered.
"Affirmative, Captain Rose," Caretaker politely acknowledged once again. "Junior-Lieutenant Marcus Drew and his Platoons are on standby in the hangar, ready to launch."
"Good. Tell the Void Phoenix to continue firing all her weapons at the Carrier and order the Havoc to break off her attack and engage those Cruisers. Charge the Ion Cannons but do not fire, we'll need them later but we don't want to destroy the enemy Battleship. Advise the rest of the fleet that we've got this one under control and we will be boarding momentarily."

Great minds think alike and all that.

We're going fishing for two sharks eh? Dangerous stuff, we might lose our rods.

But I suppose the battered Aria defense forces deserve whatever we leave remaining of the enemy ships to vent their anger on help rebuild their fleet.

Also, after the battle, someone needs to request a new fleet to defend Aria, which I assume we'll be protecting until such a time as it can be properly defended again, giving everyone, especially Trix, time to enjoy the planet (if the good Admiral allows it).

It's going to be very difficult though. I've got a hundred Marines ready to go, but they're up against (assuming the hostile Battleship's crew was at optimum capacity) ~500 enemies.

Now, normally they'd have roughly the same amount of Marines. But they're Raiders, so they're probably all highly untrained and each one is probably sporting a weapon of some sort.

But my men have fancy laser-deflecting body armour, top-class advanced laser rifles and combat blades, superior training and a bucket load of plot armor on their side.

I'm assuming your ship won't have as many Marines.. ~50ish perhaps? What d'you think? Maybe we should all have more. /shrug

Hmm...
Yes, my ship won't have as many. My full crew, without flight crews and ground crew is only 350 so I would agree with 50 marines.

Prehaps we could force them to surrender by blowing off weapons/vital systems, and destroying the cruisers. That way we would get the ships without having to board them.

Under heavy fire from multiple angles and losing weapons at an alarming rate, the Battleship started to pull away from their attackers, their wounds venting atmosphere as they tried to flee. The carrier tried to follow, but the combined fire from the frigate group tore open its launch-bays , just as torpedoes launched at the battles start from the Vanguard and the Void Phoenix impacted on its flanks.

Secondary explosions rippled through the hull and the carrier came apart in a colossal fireball.

cheers echoed through the Vanguard as the explosion filled their screens."Thats a kill!" Sharpe yelled happily, "Fine shooting, Mutt."

"The Enemy fleet is retreating." Sammy Informed the 14th, "I'm detecting energy flares from their Hyperdrives, recommend Allied ships pull back in case of drive implosion."

"If we don't destroy them, they'll be forced to take to their escape pods, saving us the trouble of boarding them. We'll get our answers either way," LeGuin continued.

"Chief, target the Raider Cruiser Magog with our other Ion Cannons and Heavy Cannons - take down their shields and engines."
The Chief followed these orders as well, inputing targeting data to his console before firing.

“Recall all strike craft, except for the strike fighters under Hunter. I want him to go into the debris around the carrier, and bring me back the spare interceptor that was launched, mostly intact, out of the hanger door when the ship exploded, I can see it on sensors at 493,392,801. I want it for my trophy cabinet.”
“Stand down condition 1, the fight is over,” Garan said over the intercom, “Go to condition 2, and keep an eye out for anything we have missed. We can leave the Pioneer to deal with the routing pirates.”
“KIRK,” Garan said to his AI, “Use the sensor data we colected, and the tactical simulations you ran to prepare a report on what happened here. Then send it to Admiral Sharpe for reviewing and for here to add here comments. She can then send it to command.”
“Very Good commander” KIRK replied.

Special event? Yummy.

As for the chain of command thing; my fault, I asked for somebody to do it. He can just edit it out and we can have the station and/or Sharpe relay a message instead during the event.

However.. when you say "Mis-Jumped".. kinda contradicting yourself, you said the entire fleet exited hyper space in perfect formation.

You sure 'bout that? It might be a good idea to keep Snarky with at least one other ship for safety's sake. Besides, sillyboy's character doesn't even need to be at the battle, we won it easily anyway.

No offense to sillyboy, but I reckon you should put 'em both in the event.

Location Unknown.
(Only the ships named in this post may respond to this event.)

The Horizon and the Aslinde huddled together against the endless blankness that surrounded them, while aboard both ships engineers tried to coax their Hyper-drives back into working order, but the view glimpsed through view screens before their commanding officers locked them down had them spooked and word was passed through and between both ships.

"Where are the stars?" the crew asked, "where the hell are we?"

They had been in perfect formation with the rest of the fleet when their dives had suddenly failed and had flung them out... here. Here where the only source of light was the running lights of the other ship, and the random reports of their sensors just fueling the fear and paranoia that kept both ships exactly where they had been deposited. Neither captain wished to go exploring here, what would they do if they found something?

"Sensor contact!" A crewman on the Aslinde reported, "Consistent this time, Power readings are off the scale.... Oh god, It's Mothership class and approaching fast from direct front. Orders captain?"

Note: Mothership Class

A deign of ship intended to function as an Ark of shorts in the early years of The Alliance, such a ship would have been larger than even a dreadnought, and would have contained everything needed to keep generations of colonists alive throughout the trek between systems. The design was soon canceled however, as Humanity lacked the ability to power and move a ship of such size with their current level of technology, but the invention of the Hyper-drive a few years later solved that problem and much smaller colony ships were constructed and sent out during the First Expansion. The term was kept however, in the unlikely event the Alliance encountered a ship of such size.

Aria Sector

Penned in on all sides and with its allies abandoning it to its fate, the damaged Overlord came to a halt and across the fleet comms cracked as the ship hailed them. The Raider shuddered under the weight of incoming fire and tried to do the same as its shields failed, it tried to hide from the many guns around them under its larger comrade.

Meanwhile, those ships undamaged by their alliance counterparts activated their hyper-drives and fled back to their hidden base, having suffered damage, the Overlord and Raider cruiser didn't have that option and thus did the only thing available to them

"Attention Alliance ships, I know your rules, We have no means left with which to fight you and therfore we must surrender. Enjoy it while it lasts Fascists."

The Pioneer came to a halt next to the Overlord Battleship and connected an airlock to one of its Raider counterparts' airlocks. Under heavy supervision with all Marines deployed, every man and woman aboard the Raider Battleship was escorted onto The Pioneer and either held in the large brig or, when that ran out of room, one of the Cargo Bays that had been cleared earlier - watched by twenty Marines.

Engineers were transferred to the captured vessel to begin repairing it to a workable extent, then it was taken back to Broadsword Station to be fully repaired and put to good use in an Alliance Fleet.

The Magog and its crew suffered the same fate.

"This is Captain Rose to Admiral Sharpe, our Chief of Security is interrogating prisoners as we speak, orders? Do you wish to board and oversee them yourself?"

"Load boarding parties, and go aboard the cruiser," Garan ordered over the intercom, "We will leave the Battleship for Commander Rose."
"Right Away sir." The Answer came from the launch bays.
"I want the captain and high ranking officers brought back for interregation, I will go over myself once the ship is secure in order to procure myself a trophy."

Ninja'd: You can have the prisoners, but I still want my trophy. (It is sort of an obsession of my character, he has to have a record of his achievements.)

Just a quick one because I have to go out with mates. But I assume that the fleet will remain at Aria until a new defense fleet arrives, so we have plenty of interrogation time.

Also, our fleet could use a boost in numbers and we have a fair few new ships available to us.. eh Harrab?

Sharpe lent backing her command chair and watched the tugs from Broadsword pull their new prizes into close range of the station where borth ships would be scanned for explosives, they wouldn't make up for those brave crews lost in this engagement, but they would have a measure of revenge.

She sat up and penned a quick request for reinforcement back to command, when Commander Rose suddenly appeared on her tactical display

"This is Captain Rose to Admiral Sharpe, our Chief of Security is interrogating prisoners as we speak, Orders? Do you wish to board and oversee them yourself?"

Sharpe shook her head, " As much as i'd love to, I'd bet there's any number of Pirate dirt-bags who'd like to put a shiv in me. No, I'll Send over Volk and some of her boys, they know what to ask."

Rose nodded and reached for the button to cut the connection when sharpe forestalled her

"Wait a moment Commander, i just want to say I'm impressed with your conduct during the battle, you did me proud, make sure you tell your crew that. If you still have doubts or concerns feel free to contact me."

Rose nodded and closed the Channel

"this is Vangaurd to all ships in the sector, I'm proud of every single one of you and will be certain to inform the Fleet Marshal of todays action."

She closed the channel and lent back in her chair, Now all she had to do was figure out where the hell two of her ships had vanished to.

EDIT:(OCC: I'm not entirely happy with this post, but i'm too tired to bother changing it right now so i'm off to bed.)

After waiting for the explosives checks to be completed, and the ships declared safe, Garan and 4 marines boarded the captured vessel. He walked from the hanger bay where he had arrived, to the ships command centre. The command centre was a small, and dimly lit room, with prominent laser burns on its walls, indicating to the violent nature of pirate ‘negotiation’. As he entered, he saw his prize. The captain’s sword lay in the wreckage of the command nexus, where he had obviously tried to resist arrest. The sword had a curved hilt, and a black scabbard decorated with purple stitching, and a single purple jewel. It was nice, but far inferior to his captain’s sword. He picked it up, and returned to his own ship.

After his return, he placed the pirate sword in his quarters, and then went to the launch bay to see what his strike fighters had brought back from the wreckage of the carrier. The pirate interceptor in the bay was reasonably sophisticated, for pirate technology, and Garan immediately set about looking for his trophy. He found it in the back of the ship. He brought a laser cutter over from the bays workshop, and cut the small charging coil out of the interceptors laser cannon.
“I have what I want,” Garan said to the engineers, “you may take the rest apart, and use it as you see fit. Put any usable parts into storage, anything else, you may either keep for yourselves, or dump.”

Right.. I really don't have any idea what to do with the prisoners, so I'll let Harrab event it (or PM me with info) so he can decide why the Raiders were attacking and what information they're going to tell us (if it's important). If it isn't important to the main plot, I'll just make up some information and we can go Raider hunting.

BIC:.....First contact......

The sensors jumped into all sorts of alarms. Trix and Nexus tried to work them down in order of importance. "What the hell happened?" Trix yelled, as she tried to compile the data-stream. "Solar pulse from Sector Lex Seven pushed us out of course." "Pinpoint our location." "Aye ma'am." After some data-repairs and make shift bridges, Trix had control back over her ship. "I hate solar pulses." Nexus muttered. "Where are we?" "Cain system and..." Nexus voice stopped as the sensors picked up something. They both looked in awe as the holo-projector showed a Vessle that dwarfed the Aslinde. It looked old and battered, it looked like it wasn't in condition to fly in space. Yet here it was. Trix looked up as the optic sensored showed a new vessle jumping in. "Seems we're not alone." Trix grumbled. Reynolds. This was just great. We're going to silent mode, turn everything down. Trix signaled the Horizon to do the same. Cutting of the engines, would make their ships only visible to optic sensors. If they we're lucky they wouldn't get noticed. "Nexus identify that ship." Trix looked at the gigantic vessle. She recognised it as an Ark. But what was it doing here she thought.

“KIRK,” Garan said, “Broadcast a message to the fleet, and the Arian ships, telling them that we will be hosting a party on board the Void Phoenix tonight, in order to celebrate our first victory.”
“Right Away Captain!” The AI replied.

A few hours later:
The party was in full swing, and there was music playing, in Hanger Bay 2. They had, in the course of a few hours, managed to turn it into a party venue. A DJ, one of the Interceptor Pilots, was manning a desk, and some of the engineers were working behind a hastily constructed bar, serving Salthrax and other intoxicating drinks to the crews of the fleet.
After a while, the music went quite, and the viewing panels in the hull wall of the Void Phoenix opened, to allow the party goers a good view of the stars. The voice of Garan Majoric boomed across the cargo bay from a microphone on the DJ desk.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, look out of the window, and prepare for a spectacular treat courtesy of Flight Sergeant Warrior and his Strike Fighter squad.”
The Strike Fighter zoomed up from underneath the belly of the ship, and launched rockets, these weren’t normal rockets though, but they had sparkling trails behind them. As the strike fighters broke off, ready for another run, the rockets exploded into bright coloured bursts of fire and light.
“Wow!” The crowd cheered as the fireworks exploded.
The strike fighters continued this display of fireworks, followed by an aerobatic routine, for about 20 minutes, before returning to the hangers and allowing the party to continue.

Cheers erupted through the ship, not a man lost. The Strike craft had killed on average .927 enemy interceptors each, but one had killed 6, promoting him to ace. This meant The Night Crawler had designated fly sqauds."Red,open up a comlink with all other pilots in the 14th" Dylan told his AI.
"Fellow captains, on this day we brought pride, honor, and*Massive amounts of laughing explode over the radio* Im just flecking with you guys, but we all flew good and fought well, now the real reason im talking, we need to get together and Party! As for the Prisoners, Captain Volk is inbound in a shuttle to take over interrogations, (Yes she is related to the news reader) and player should note that while she is a full captain, she is a member of the NIS, Navy Intelligence Service, so doesn't quite fit into the command structure of a fleet.

Unknown location

The contact kept coming straight towards them and soon the two Alliance ships got their first sighting and Trix could only gape as light blazed in the darkness of this horrible place.

The Ship was massive and blazed so bright that she found she couldn't look at it directly, so the only thing she knew about it for certain was that it was huge and great wing-like structures were spread behind it, glittering in the light cast by its body.

Her comm activated by itself and the bridge echoed to soft chimes, like dozens of people were running fingers along the rims of wineglasses as the giant vessel began to orbit the two smaller ones, moving far faster and nimbler than something that size should have been able to, yet Trix wasn't afraid, she realized with a jolt, ever since this ship had arrived her fear had gone and she felt reassured.

The Mothership-class vessel came to a halt before them again and she got the impression it was waiting for her to do something.

"So far for stealth" Nexus cursed. "Power up the engines, prepare the point defenses." She commanded, while instructing her crew to get to their locations. She activated the shields, wich created an unvisible shield around her ship. She watched The Horizon doing the same. "Prepare jump coördinates, if things go wrong, i want to get here out ASAP." Trix took a moment to calm herself down. "Now lets see what they want." She opened a comm-link with the unknown Vessle. "This is Lt Commander Zedong of the Navy alliance. Please identify yourself." "Should we load the torpedo?" Nexus asked. "Don't we don't want to aggitate them, just be ready to jump out." Nexus nodded as Trix identified herself again to the unknown Ark.

Location Unknown.

The Huge contact watched the two smaller ships ready their defenses, rotating slowly on its axis as it did so, as if it was thinking, by the time it was back to its original position, an energy field of such power had formed around it, the Alliance techs could see the ripples upon its surface with their own eyes. Still it rotated idly, watching these new arrivals with apparent amusement.

"This is Lt Commander Zedong of the Alliance Navy. Please identify yourself."

The communication seemed to surprise the contact, as it stopped its rotating.

Again the comms echoed with soft chimes, then a single recognizable word spoken in a voice like running water.

"Youurself?"

Aria system.

"Break! Break! this is Broadsword to all ships, we have detected a single contact closing fast from the outer system, sensors indicate its a.. frigate? at this stage?"

"This is Vanguard we see it, thats not a frigate, its traveling too fast."

"The contact just dropped of our screens." Broadsword continued, "Wait, no. I'm detecting multiple smaller contacts on the same co-ordinates, registry is coming up blank."

"this is Eagle squadron, we have visual, they are missiles! Vangaurd we've got Atmosphere Depravation Missiles inbound on Aria!"

Sharpe's blood ran cold, but there was fire in her voice as she yelled, "Battlestations! All ships defensive formation! Don't let a single missile get past! Stop them with your damn bodies if you have to!"

You are now in combat.

Detected Hostiles

12 Atmosphere Depravation Missiles

hull 1/1

Notes: Very fast

Atmosphere Depravation Missiles are banned WMDs designed to strip a planet of its atmosphere by igniting it with a series of atomic explosions, the resulting firestorm razes the continents and boils the oceans and will wipe all life from a world in seconds, leaving nothing but barren rock. Although never used, the mere simulation provided horrified Alliance Officials and the team responsible was jailed, unfortunately their prison ship was attacked by unknown hostiles and the scientists were never found when an Alliance frigate group arrived to investigate the distress call.

Objectives
-Defend Aria

"You've got ten." She opened a comm link with the horizon. "Get behind me, if it goes bad.... Maybe one of use will got alive." She heared a mighty grumph from Reynolds. But he did what she asked him, slowly the Horizon moved behind her. "Now let's try this again." "This is Lt Commander Zedong from the Navy alliance. Please identify yourself. We need your ships log and identity-pass. I urge you to comply." She said. This was slowly getting on her nerves. She double checked her point defenses, happy to see them all online and ready. "I repeat, Please identify yourself." She looked at her officer. "Nexus see if we can get a link with the fleet." "From this distance?" "Just do it, if you succed give them our coördinates." Trix cleared her mind as she waited for the vessles response.

“Brrrb, Brrrb, Brrrb, General Quarters, General Quarters, All Hands Man Your Battle Stations!” The alarm rang across the ship. Immediately, Garan leapt up from his bed, where he had been resting after the party. He hurriedly got dressed into his captains uniform, and made his way to the bridge, arriving one and a half minutes after the alarm had activated.
“KIRK, Status Report!” Garan shouted to his AI, as he walked onto the Bridge.
“There are 12 Atmosphere Deprivation Missiles inbound, targeting Aria. If a single one hits its target, then the planet will be rendered inhospitable. The Void Phoenix is at condition one, and all weapons are active. Flight Crews are ready to launch on your mark.” KIRK said to Garan.
“Launch Interceptors and Strike Fighters, engage missiles, and take them down!” Garan said to his bridge crew, “Load the torpedo tube, and set for proximity detonation, as soon as it gets near to the missiles.”
“Launching torpedo… Now,” Lieutenant Valok Ling, the ships tactical officer reported, “Torpedo Away.”
“Launch Bay doors open,” Valok said, “Strike craft launched and inbound to target.”
“Daryl, open me a com link to the Squadron leaders.” Garan said to his communications officer.
“Line open, on channel 1.” He replied.
“Hunter here.” The lead Strike Fighter pilot said.
“Warrior reporting in.” The second Strike Fighter pilot said.
“Cobra ready for orders” The pilot leading the Interceptors said.
“Python here, what are my orders.” The second Interceptors squad leader said.
“Gentlemen,” Garan said to his pilots, “Hang back until the torpedo detonates, and then strike on what remains of the missiles. This sortie is of vital importance, as it is literally life or death for the people of Aria. So get flying, and take down those missiles! Majoric out.”

The Pioneer
Status: Raising shields, firing, moving into a defensive position.

"Warning, incoming projectiles detected on long-range sensors. Scanning.. The projectiles are Atmosphere Deprivation missiles!" Caretaker exclaimed.
LeGuin stood up, "ADM's? But they were banned!"
"But the prison ship that their designers were aboard was attacked by raiders. Obviously, said team were taken captive and forced to produce these WMD's," Chief Price explained.
"Sh*t! Where's the Aslinde when we need her?" LeGuin shouted.
"Lieutenant, please sit down. We have a job to do and I need your help," Natalie ordered quietly.
"You're right, lets focus on stopping those missiles," LeGuin replied, taking a deep breath as he sat down. Position our ship in the missiles' path and have our flank facing them and raise shields. If all else fails, The Pioneer will take the hits," Natalie decided as Brooks began to carry out the dangerous orders. Ten seconds later and they were in position as the other vessels began launching strike craft and firing at the missiles.
"Caretaker, load the Heavy Cannon's with timed shells and get us a firing solution - I want those timed shells to intercept and detonate amidst the missiles," Natalie ordered the AI.
"Acknowledged, making the calculations now," Caretaker informed them. A few seconds later and he spoke again, "Chief Price, I have sent the firing solution to your station. You must fire the cannons exactly when I instruct you to."
"Alright, just say the word," Chief said gruffly, no sign of doubt in his experienced voice.
"Three.. Two.. One.. Fire!" The AI ordered. Chief Price had already shot the timed shells; having done so immediately as Caretaker had given the command, pre-guessing the timing of the order. The shells fired, the recoil of the cannons easily absorbed by the great battleship's hull.
"Also readying the Point Defenses," The Chief informed the bridge staff.
Everyone on the bridge prayed that the combined efforts of the fleet, or at least those that were present, would be enough. If not, then they all hoped to the powers that be that their shields would hold. But something told Natalie that missiles designed to destroy planets wouldn't be stopped by a ship. It was like trying to stop a bullet with a pack of paper inside a balloon. There was no time to try and get to the escape pods - this was, in every sense, a hit-or-miss operation.

Natalie nodded, "Good thinking, Lieutenant."
"It's what I do. You give the orders and I point out what's wrong with them," LeGuin grinned.

"Caretaker, open a communication channel to Broadsword station," Captain Rose ordered.
"Channel open," The AI confirmed.
"This is Captain Rose aboard The Pioneer, is it possible for you to remotely launch and pilot the captured Raider vessels? We could use them as a last resort to take the hit of the missiles if necessary. Otherwise, that job will fall to us," She said.

"Thank you, see you when its over."

"Launch the inerceptors, and fire on the missiles when they get in range, use every weapon we have, and relay targeting data from other ships, we`re gona need it. And jane?"

Not raising your shields? A Raider counter-attack could indeed be imminent - who knows? It has been a few hours IIRC.

Provided my ship with it's mighty plot armor survives this missile strike, I am going to beat the location of the Raiders' stronghold out of the prisoners, then go there and start kicking ass and taking names.

Also, may I advise that strike squadrons consider themselves expendable and should sacrifice themselves to destroy the missiles if necessary? Martyrdom is a good way to go out.. usually..

Kessler had rejoiced at the victory over the reavers, smiling broadly as the Overlord had surrendered herself into Alliance hands, now though, the world of Aria was under attack by strange atmosphere depression missiles. The fleet had been called in, and Kessler was prepared to serve. Moving his vessel into attack range, the fighter bays expelled scores of strike fighters, which rushed to engage the deadly projectiles. In addition, the Lucifer-Pattern heavy cannons did their deadly work, firing brilliant lances of blue light towards their targets.

Aria system.

"Pioneer, this is Broadsword, roger that, evacuating repair teams, secure and away, Overlord has been launched, Raider has been launched, on route to target. All Ahead full.

"All ships, this is Stalwart Dawn, point defenses are online and we are ready to assist, clear the lane, we'll light em up."

"This is Battlebear, moving to engage with the Mutt, Fire Ant you with us?"

"This is Fire Ant, we'll back your play, charging Ion cannon, ready to fire."

Three ships were launching from the colossal shape of the orbital shipyard, the two pirate vessel under a tedious control by the Station AI and the repaired Paladin "Stalwart dawn", the system defense ship slid into line alongside the Silent star as the fleet put up a wall of ordinance between the planet and the incoming missiles, while the captured ships continued to accurate away from the others, rotating in order to present the largest profile to the WMDs

It proved effective, the Overlord took out two missiles with its point defenses before stopping four more with its hull, the bright flash of atomic detonations searing the eyes of hose who witnessed it, while the raider, being too small to imitate its larger brother, detonated its drive core, the explosion detonating three more in bright flashes of energy.

The Fleet's stike craft were looping and diving between the detonations, firing off quick bursts of fire at any missile that crossed their gunshights, claiming another missile, but not without cost.

"This is eagle squadron, the Alliance stan-bbzt"

"Eagle squadron has been destroyed, no escape pods detected."

"Wave destroyed, i say again wave destroyed, no more missiles-, Data check, detecting more inbound missile launchers, three of them. gak they just split, more missiles incoming,"

"There must be a ship guiding them in," Sharpe, suggested, remembering the briefing she had received on them all those years ago, "hiding some where in the system, stealthed. Silent Star, Havok, you're up, find it and kill it."

Contact report:

12 missiles destroyed

36 more inbound.

-Defend Aria

The Alien ship seemed to be taking things seriously now that it knew the Alliance ships could communicate, it tried again to imitate their speech, but the words chosen where random and meaningless, and the contact seemed to get irritated by this, as the light it emitted took on a red tint.

"Log-book, Commander, comply." it said, then suddenly the chimes stopped and a bright beam of light struck the Bridge of the Paladin cruiser, running across all surfaces and people within.

"Its Accessing our computers," A crewman reported, "it just blew past our encryption like it was nothing!"

"Is its showing any pattern in the files it opens?" an officer asked,

"Historical data and language files."

"It's learning." Trix realized, "Its trying to communicate with us."

Suddenly the light vanished and the ship returned to its normal bight hue.

"Download completed." Said the Musical voice from before. "Language data assimilated, a spoken tongue, interesting."

The Ship drew closer, "You are a long way from home child of Earth, but do not be afraid, we will not harm you. I am Anya, Daughter of Salanos. I apologize for accessing your data so roughly, but there was no other way to facilitate communications, in exchange for the data we are willing to help you get home. Natalie swallowed hard. Thirty-six. Thirty-six more missiles. That was three times as many and they had just sacrificed two, albeit unimportant, vessels and a squadron of strike craft to destroy. An inconsequential price to pay to save an entire world.
"Silent Star, Havok, make sure to take that cloaked ship alive, we need answers and the data core and crew of that vessel might just provide us with them. Fly safe and good luck, Pioneer out."
"Caretaker, same procedure with the Heavy cannons, fire them yourself this time. No room for human error, just keep up the ordnance rate. Brooks, bring us about and take us straight towards the missiles, full thrust."
"Captain.." Brooks began, horrified at what this meant.
"Do it. There's two billion people down there on that planet that are counting on us to save their world; their culture; their very lives - the future of their people no less. Now, please, do it, or I'll have to have you removed from your station. We don't have time for this!"
"Yes.. Captain Rose," Brooks replied.

Slowly, but steadily, The Pioneer turned to face the incoming wave of missiles - though they were far off yet, they would soon reach the planet unless they acted fast. The mighty battleship sped towards the missiles, firing well-calculated ordnance that was set to explode amongst the missiles through inhuman calculations done in mere seconds. Three shells were fired from each of the vessel's two Heavy Cannons. Torpedoes were also fired, set to detonate when any other object entered close proximity. Furthermore, as much power as could be spared was directed to the frontal shielding, should any missiles reach The Pioneer, in the hopes that it would be enough to protect them. Then the battleship stopped, continuing to fire ordnance set to detonate amidst the many, many, many missiles. Then all of the escape pods were jettisoned in a highly scattered pattern, as an impromptu mine-field. Should even one missile contact a pod and detonate, it might take one, two, maybe more with it. Then, the battleship hastily reversed, the missiles closing, nobody taking the time to count how many missiles the ordnance and torpedoes had destroyed in the crew of The Pioneer's attempts to save Aria and themselves.

As the battleship reversed as fast as it could -which wasn't very fast - the remaining missiles reaching the escape pods...

The other Frigates followed suite and fired all of their weapons at the incoming WMDs, desperate to protect their homeworld from utter destruction. Broadsword station fired what long-range Torpedoes and Cannons it had add to the barrage that the Centennial Fleet and the pitiful but defiant remnants of the Aria Defense Fleet were unleashing.

All those who beheld the maneuvre made by The Pioneer were shocked, confused and amazed at the same time, thankful that someone was risking their life, their ship and the lives of their crew - going above and beyond - to try and save Aria.

Aria System.

The wall of ordinance set out by the fleet managed to cause a chain reaction within one group of incoming missiles, but the unknown Marker Ship had learned from the first wave and had spread the others so that they remained untouched.

The second group slammed into the Pinoneer's makeshift minefield, and detonate, but the atomic explosion was close enough to the battleship that it's hull fractured and its shield burst within a second on the massive force being unleashed upon it. Somehow the battleship was still holding together, but even the cadets could see that it was a fragile grasp that could be loosened quite easily if they didn't manage to get their internal fires under control. the Paladin Cruiser nearby wasn't so lucky and was torn apart by the blasts.

"We are detecting three inbound Hyperspace signatures," Broadsword reported, "Dreadnought class, heads up fleet."

"This is Group-Captain Soloman, of Command Dreadnought "Tombstone" and Linebreaker Squadron "Hell-Knight", responding to your distress call, Can we get a sector briefing?"

"Vangaurd to "Hell Knight", situation is critical, cannot hold this position without immediate support, ADMs have been confirmed."

"Roger that Vanguard, we're moving to assist, Linebreakers sound off.

"This is Steel Czar, For the Motherland and the Alliance!"

'This is Radian, we'll take care of it."

Like avenging angels, the three massive forms of Alliance Dreadnoughts emerged from hyper-space directly above the battered defense fleet, in start breach of Alliance Protocol, but their risky maneuver managing to place themselves between the missiles and their target.

"Targets confirmed." Solomon reported, "Light 'em up Hell Knights!"

With apocalyptic fury, the three Super-Heavy Capital ships fired as one, managing to throw out triple the amount of outgoing fire, destroying missiles only by sheer weight of ordinance thrown out in not by direct hits.

"Activate EW."

A wave of EMP energy burst from the Linbreaker squadron, carefully calibrated to not interfere with Alliance equipment, but sending clusters of missiles haywire, several detonated, others made drastic course changes that exhausted their fuel reserves.

"Ha!" said Steel Czar's captain, "Run and hide pirate dogs! The Alliance is here!"

"Stay Focused Czar," Raidan interrupted, "there will be a marker ship out there somewhere."

"Well he's not going anywhere, activate your inhibitor."

"Hell Knights to Centurions, you are all clear, i say again you are all clear."

Contact Report

Pioneer
Satus: Critical. Fires on board. Weapons and shield generators disabled
Hull -9
Sheilds -10

"Stalwart Dawn"
DESTROYED

Reinforcements:

3 Apocalypse class Dreadnoughts

"Tombstone"
"Steel Czar."
'Radian"

Note: Hyper-space Inhibitors.
These huge and powerful devices are only found within the mighty hull of an Alliance dreadnought and make up for the platforms crippling lack of speed, which would ordinarily make these ships easy to avoid and outrun. Once it is active, it is only a matter of time before the Super-heavy claims its cornered prey.
Inhibitors are used in passive mode to prevent ships from jumping into close proximity to the ship, when switched to Active the entire sector it occupies becomes inaccessible via supspace, any ship that tries never emerges from sub-space again.

Objectives

-Defend Arira. [Completed]

due to the presence of a hyper-space inhibitor, no more Missile Launchers may enter the sector.

- Find Marker ship

- the Missiles would have to be guided onto their target during the final stage of their deployment by another ship, likely frigate class, Begin scanning the Asteroid belt at the systems edge and the space around the planet for any strange readings.

Not exactly.

battle damage is judged at my own discretion, mostly depending on how many shots are going where, but every-time a player enters the less than 3 hull threshold, i roll a dice. on a 3+ you're still alive, but i roll again next round, and the next, until the roll is failed, the player abandons ship or they get back above the threshold. this represents a reactor flaring, or the hull falling apart

Oh and a round is over whenever i post a rely to your actions.

Just a question, was my foolish (read: suicidal) escapade actually beneficial? I know it took out an entire wave, but the Dreadnought's could've just destroyed both waves anyway, no?

Okay, so I know that what I made happen would've always happened as I had no knowledge of the imminent arrivals of the 'noughts, but did my ships' actions actually prove decisive or were they unnecessary?

They would have stopped the missiles, (mostly because i was impressed at the role-paying, and it would have served as "bonus XP" as it where) but you would have been killed in action, the arrival of the dreadnoughts was yet another gift from the dice gods, (Out of two where help arrives, the third would have involved the planet's destruction as Aria suffered multiple Missile impacts.)

Its possible. it was unlikely you'd be able to stop all of the missiles without outside help, and some of you may have been hit by them as they went for the planet (which would have been destroyed), i was hoping one of you would pull something suitably dramatic out of your Ion drive and you did.

Kessler grit his teeth in anger, a state-of-the-art Alliance vessel was crippled by pirate scum and he had been unable to prevent it. Turning the Silent Star around, the Sentinel-Class Cruiser interposed itself between the marker ship and the Pioneer, rotating his vessel to provide the most cover for the stricken carrier. Boosting all power to the shields, Kessler activated the inter-vessel com and spoke with the crew of the Pioneer in a grave tone; "Good ship Pioneer, this is Lieutenant Manfred Kessler of the vessel Silent Star, my crew and I will act as a shield for your vessel as you make your escape to the holds of the Vanguard. We will remain in place for as long as needed, and are willing to die to ensure your successful evacuation. Kessler out."

Seeing the pioneer take the hits and the destructon of the stalwart dawn, and the arrival of the three alliance dreadnoughts, he considered the Planet safe, turning his ship forwards, he powered up the ion drives and sped towards the source of the missiles, he knew only a frigate could hope to outrun his destroyer, and pushed the ship to its very limits to catch what ever what was out there. The inhibitors housed inside the dreadnoughts would see that the foe would not be able to jump out, but the anger simmering inside his, pushed him to attempt to punish the raiders personally that did this.

Turning to the bridge interior, he told the weapon officer very forcefully to target the engins, and he wanted them alive. He then broadcast for all marines to board the assualt craft, and ready themselves for ship boarding.

Trix was in shock, the unknown vessle had easly breached encryption codes that would make the smartest man on the world sweat himself to that. But the thing that shocked her the most is that the vessle identified itself as not belonging to the Alliance. This was a UFO, the first encounter with a new intelligent lifeform. "Commander." nexus yelled, pulling her attention to the situation on hand. "What do we do?" "Lower the defenses, Nexus. I think they mean no harm. nexus was about to argue it, but Trix had resumed her comm link. "Thank you for your offer.... Anya daughter of Salaanos. Your offer is very kind." Trix tried to remember what her instructors said, when they should meet a new lifeform. IT was the only lesson she hadn't payed attention too. It was statistically unlikely it would ever happen. "If you like i can escort you to one of our leaders, currently stationed in the Aria station. I will make sure you arrive there unharmed." "Unharmed?" the other ships commander asked. "These territories are know for it's high concentration concentration of piracy. But don't worry, the alliance will keep you safe." trix leaned back, hoping she did the right thing.

Unknown Location.

"Interesting." The great shape began to rotate on its axis again, "I do have so many questions to ask about your people, as doubtless you have of mine... But i have another task that requires my attention, as illuminating as this meeting has been." Anya gave a chuckle, like wind-chimes, "How humorous your method of communication is! Most delightful!."

Suddenly the great wings swept forwards and surrounded the two smaller vessels, and once more a bright light filled both Alliance ships

"Something is trying to block the gate," Anya announced in a delighted tone, "another wonder i will have to investigate, but it is no trouble, Farewell Children of Earth, inform your leaders and i will follow as soon as i am able."

then with a sudden surge of energy, both the Horizon and Aslinde vanished, returned to their rightful destination the Aria system.

Anya swept her wings back to their previous position, and chuckled again, simply for the novelty of it, a verbal method of expressing emotion, yes she would certainly find that young one again, and with that decided, she glided away, a single bright light in the eternal darkness.

The wall of ordnance created by the Alliance vessels caused a massive chain-reaction of explosions amongst the first wave, destroying it entirely. There was a half-hearted huzzah aboard most of the ships as their crews were informed of this. However, there was still two more waves of missiles incoming. The stunt pulled by The Pioneer proved worthwhile as the second wave collided with the impromptu minefield and destroyed themselves. Unfortunately, The Pioneer could not move fast enough to escape the ensuing explosion - the blast was of such great force that the ships' shields were overloaded instantly and the hull was breached in an uncountable number of places.

"Proximity alert - we are still too close to the 'mine field' to avoid damage," Caretaker reported moments before the mass explosion of the missiles.

Instantly, panels blew out, hardware exploded and multiple fires erupted all over the bridge. Wires and ruptured pipes hissed and vented their contents around the bridge from the floor, ceiling and walls as sparks flew everywhere. Lights flared and failed, before restarting dimly as the backup generators kicked in a weak attempt to keep the ship powered. However, the damage was so great that they could not support the extremely damaged vessel. Most systems were down.

The comms station burst into a shower of sparks and flame, knocking Lieutenant Raul off his feet. He was covered in serious burns and his body lay motionless and crumpled on the floor. He was dead. The tactical station sparked as a few circuits overloaded, but Chief Price was left unharmed, but shaken. A nearby wall panel blew out and a shard of sheet metal embedded itself in Ensign Lee's side and he collapsed to the ground as blood began gushing out of his wounds and flowing out of his mouth as internal bleeding threatened to kill him from blood loss. However he choked on his own life-blood long before bleeding out. Ensign Brooks was thrown backwards off her chair and hit the floor with a whelp. The young woman struggled weakly as blood dripped onto the floor from a head wound her fall had caused. The Captain and her XO were knocked to the ground, but miraculously were otherwise unharmed.

Grasping tightly onto a hand-rail, LeGuin hauled himself up and ran over to the nearest fire extinguisher cabinet, grabbing the canister through the already shattered protective glass. He immediately set about extinguishing the raging fires closest to him; Chief Price quickly following suite at the other end of the room. Natalie crawled over to the prone Brooks and made sure she was alright before they both helped each other to their feet. The bridge was a mess and the view screen was not functioning as were most of the vessel's systems. Looking for the source of an unfamiliar crackling noise, Natalie saw a hole in one of the corners of the bridge, where a weak forcefield kept the vacuum at bay, protecting them from sudden decompression and a cold death.

The adrenalin had well and truly kicked in by this point and the surviving bridge crew fought to get the fires under control. Eventually they did. Afterwards, they all naturally deferred to the Captain for instructions, who had slumped heavily back down in her chair.
"Caretaker, give me a status report!" Natalie exclaimed.
"Multi..hu..eaches..decompr..extre..amage..reactor..itical.." The reply came, barely understandable.
"The AI's down, give me a manual report," Natalie ordered. LeGuin raced to the Ops station, careful not to step on the deceased Ensign Lee. He tapped the console repeatedly and sparks showered him a few times and the terminal made several ill-boding sounds, before LeGuin looked back at his commander and replied "Damage is extensive. We've lost a lot of the front of the ship, including the Ion cannons - the generators can barely keep the forcefields stable!"
Natalie gasped, "Casualty estimation?" She asked solemnly.
"No way to tell.. but I'm guessing it could be as many as a hundred, perhaps more," LeGuin replied gravely.
Natalie sighed heavily. "Transfer all power from the engines to the forcefields."
"Aye Captain," LeGuin acknowledged as he carried out the order. He then continued, "But it gets worse. The brig's forcefields blew out and the Raider prisoners have escaped. Fighting has erupted - it appears the prisoners are moving to the cargo bays to free the other captives. There's simply too many for our security forces to contain entirely."
The Captain sat thoughtfully for a moment. Then she stood up and addressed her officers. "LeGuin, Brooks, remain here and try and maintain some semblance of control. Chief, you're with me," She ordered as she unsheathed her sword. No more needed to be said as the Captain and Master Chief, who had unholstered his trademark Revolver, headed for the elevator.

Why facepalm? Master Chief is an actual rank within the military and navy. Not the first time I've mentioned that that's his rank though.

Not so, while the Halo audio books introduced me to the fact that it was a rank and not just a knick-name for 117, I researched it and decided it was a good rank for my NPC.

Just think of the biggest, bad-ass mother-fetter you can, then add a beard, even if he's already got one. THATS a senior NCO.

Anyway, enough, Commisar you keep dragging this into off topic, cease or feel my wrath.

On every deck of what remained of The Pioneer, its desperate crew battled with the Raider prisoners whilst damage control teams defiantly fought the raging fires and attempted to restore power.

In Engineering, right at the rear of the ship, Lieutenant Johnson and the men and women under his control had, for the most part, been spared the worst of the damage. Sure, circuits had flared and walls had buckled in some places and there were a few fires, but nobody had been hurt badly - just scrapes and bruises. But he knew that the rest of the ship was in a far more dire situation. But that was not his priority right now. No, his duty was to stop the battleship from falling apart beneath their feet. He looked at the massive Fusion Core in the centre of the room and sighed as it hummed, emitting an unusual noise that was illustrative of the problems they were experiencing.

He set various teams to work on re-routing power and system controls to Engineering - in effect, they now controlled the entire vessel from down here now.
"Caretaker?" He asked.
"Yes, Lieutenant?" Replied the ever calm and soft voice of the AI.
"What's the status of the damage control efforts?"
Caretaker remained silent for a few seconds as he scanned the ship, before replying, "Many of the fires have been dealt with, but lots remain and are being tackled by the crew. Unfortunately, the prisoners have escaped the brig and are combating our security forces. I'm sure you can make your own predictions of what that entails."
"Indeed I have," Johnson replied. "Are the internal comms operational?"
"To an extent. I assume you wish to contact the bridge crew?"
The Lieutenant nodded as he headed over to a nearby station, "Is it possible?"
"I have already attempted to speak to them, the comms are unreliable and they couldn't understand my words," Caretaker informed him.

-- The Bridge --

LeGuin stared at the console in confusion, "What?" He exclaimed. The Captain and Chief stopped and looked at him. "What is it?" Natalie asked softly.
"All bridge controls have been re-routed.. to Engineering!"
The Chief grinned, "Good ol' Johnson, he's a damn fine Engineer."
"You two," Natalie indicated to LeGuin and Brooks, "Had better come with us then."
The four remaining bridge officers all clambered into the elevator - but it soon became evident that it would not move; whether its circuits were fried, it didn't have enough power or some other reason was irrelevant. All that mattered was that it wasn't working. But there was a way around this problem.

The Chief removed the panel on the top of the elevator and they all climbed out. Looking at the precarious "ladder" on the wall, he knew that they had a long descent ahead of them.

i meant for when you get your scores. i try as hard as i can when im taking the test, but then i just shrug and say "just as long as i pass" i ussualy do pretty good, but when i do do bad,i just go "see? at least i passed, even if a 73 isnt a b"

73 should be a B... I mean like 81 or something is an A at least.

I do know that 8 or less just doesn't get you anything and basically means you're slowed.

Although, for the GCSE English controlled assessment I just did last week and this week, it's out of 20 marks, with 19 and 20 being A* (top class so I want to get that).

Um.. Back on topic.

Poor sillyboy, in Texas I ONLY have 7 exams. All of which I passed even though in atheletics on the last day( Athletics is first period, we had tests like 5th on wednsday(Homeroom) 4,6,7 on thursday then 1,2,3 on friday, after 3rd we went home for the summer or winterbreak) one of the black footbal cannon for arms players who I have been friends with for awhile pegged me in the face, blurring my vision and making me lose concentration. This Lead to me not even being able to finish my english exam essay, yet I got a 94 on(Out of 100) it(Enlgish 3rd TX hIstory 2nd) and a 94 on my TX history exam. I need to ask him to pelting me during exams( To bad it was like hell because I couldn't focus and had a blind spot, AND a pounding headache) then on the last day of school, for god know what reason I puked every were. In the last 1 minute of class

“Slow to ¼ Speed,” Garan said to the Navigator, “KIRK, activate the ESM pod and set it to perform full spectrum scans, as well as searching for weapons signatures, ion trails and communication echoes.”
“…ESM pod activated” the AI replied.
“Good,” Garan said, “Run all the data through the computer core and give me both numerical and graphic representations of the read outs. Run anything we find from the scanning for Ion trails through a de-masking algorithm, they may be trying to hide their signature.”
Garan waited, and watched, as the data flew in from the sensors. Now, Garan thought, it is only a matter of time until we find these pirates and we can make them pay for what they did to Natalie’s ship.

While a careful and vengeful search of the systems was under way by the majority of the fleet, there was frantic activity around the Pinoneer as The Silent Star, Steel Czar and Vanguard attempted to move the crippled battleship towards the waiting Broadsword, the stations pair of repair frigates latched onto its side like bloated ticks and their many repair tools whirling as they tried to reinforce the failing superstructure anyway they can.

The Vanguard was sending other Marine fire teams to assist while the Steel Czar crouched over the battleship like a protective parent, while on the Vanguard Sharpe fumed, watching the attempt to save the Pioneer with a calm and confident expression for the benefit of her bridge crew. She wished she could get closer and assist more directly, but Protocol was clear, she could not endanger the flagship, so she must maintain safe distance in case the worst happened.

Suddenly the Pioneer lurched as a massive power-surge rocked the ruined ship, Sharpe recognized the signs, the reactor had just breached containment. the ship was in its death throes

Shapre glanced down at her personal terminal, she had already written the recommendation for the Star of Terra, but had to delay sending it.

Afterall, it could still be rewarded posthumously.

--------

On board the Pinoneer battle ranged as fiercely as the fires, with marine security teams trying to fight of pirate prisoners who felt they had nothing to lose.

Reinforcements for the marines were benign to arrive however, and soon fresh and elite teams from Vangaurd and Steel Czar began to turn the tide, giving the repair teams more room to save their ship.

"This is Switchblade," one Marine Officer reported back to the fleet, "we have secured Engineering and the shuttle bay, moving to secure the bridge and brig, Out."

-------

"This is Broadsword, Pinoneer if you are receiving, you need to get your reactor under control before you can dock, if you cannot, use Emergency Protocol 14 and jettison it, and my frigates will get you a berth. Over."

Status Report

Pioneer
Status: Critical, reactor unstable, overload extremely likely
fires are being extinguished, Prisoners are being contained
Repair Frigates from broadsword have reinforced the hull assisted by internal repair teams

Hull: +1 currently 2/10
Sheilds: remain offline

(Darkvoid, you just failed your save and i had to use your get out of death free card (all players get One and only One), other players need help him by sending there repair teams and dedicating a post to helping with the repair work, or the Pioneer might well go up like a box of fireworks next round.)

(Oh and I'll post the finding of the Markership when you actually find it, the dice are being rather uncooperative right now.)

with a curious smile, sir france replied "of course sir." as issac left frowning,he punched the wall. " dang ship, hope the others have better luck. today is just not are day." as he turned th corner and headed for the cafeteria,he saw one of the few marines leaning on a wall. "shouldnt you be getting ready to help on board the pioneer?" standing up normally, the marine pulls out a pistol and aims at issacs chest.
"dont know, should i?" looking at the gun only a foot from him, issac bites his lip. he knew not everyone would like him,but this was bad.
"id suggest putting that down." frowning even more, issac stares into his opponents eyes.
"dont think i will. your coming with me." moving forward to grab issac, the marine didn't expect an attack. issac drew his blade and cut his hand off before the man knew what happened.as he went to his knees, issac said to sir france "dont send help."
"but sir,h-"
"no,cancel any help you were going to send, ill deal with this on my own."
"aright sir." looking at the man holding his stub, issac drew him to his feet. he then grabbed the mans shoulder and shoved the blade into his guts.as the blade came out his back, issac smiled alittle as the man died. cleaning his blade with part of the dead mans shirt, issac sees the cut off gloved hand. picking it up,he pulls the glove off. biting his lip and frowning, issac looks up.
"sir france, get clean up down here.and dont put this in the files, erase it. this man never existed.sharpe dosent need to know about this."
"sir,that go-"
"do it! this is personal business."
"alright sir..." as issac walked off he threw the hand aside. he knew his past on pluto was bad,he just never thought it would catch up to him. "dang....not are day."

(OCC: I've got afew things to say about this, and one of them is, please could you run it through a spell check, as its hard to read.

Two: From what i can make out, you've had signs of mutiny, Sharpe WILL find out if anyone in her fleet steps out of line, (she's got a NIS agent onboard, they are VERY good at getting information), you're also concealing evidence, and your crew is not submitting to your authority (why? Crews don't suddenly turn on their officer unless he/she's done something incredibly stupid.), in that situation Sharpe will relieve you of your command, find out what caused the grievance, and have those responsible shot.

Summary: this drastic change on crew attitude doesn't make sense and you're setting your character up to be shot.)

i did use spell check,i guarantee its my horrible grammar

also it was only one person mutiny-ing.and as for the sleeper cell none of us knew about it so not like i knew ahead of time anyways. if you look he is concealing evidence cause of 'personal business. only one guy isnt and he was planning it since he got here anyways. so the only real reason to relive me is cause im holding back info,so thats what ill change.

summery: i have horrible grammar and its not a drastic change of the crew cause its only one guy who is also from pluto (the whole picking up and thing.tribal tattoo, just like issac)who was planning it for some time cause of issacs past on pluto. ill go edit now.

There are a few spelling errors, Are instead of Our for example, but as you said your Grammar is really making things difficult to read, but it can't be helped so I'll just put up with it.

Actually your character just committed murder, you cut off his hand, then killed a subordinate, thats pretty serious.

I'm still not sure why you decided to roleplay that and have it end that way, but i'm going to run with it, and you might not like the consequences.

EDIT: Wait, what sleeper cell? are you trying to introduce new story events? I'm going to have to stamp that out. If everyone add in in sub-plots it'll rapidly become impossible for me to mange the RP.

Crews are considered a part of the Player character so what they do and how they think is up to you,(within reason) but if you're placing splinter-groups into the Alliance without my Approval we've got a problem.

EDIT 2: Take it to the discussion thread, we've taken up too much space here.

“Marine Kill squads and Repair teams to assemble at the boarding craft. We need to secure the Pioneer,” Garan said to his crew, “Ready the shuttles for launch, we can use them to get Broadswords engineers on to the Pioneer.”

BIC: ..... To the rescue...

The Aslinde jumped out of hyperspace. Quikly the sensors poked back out the hull and systems jumped back on. Inside Trix and Nexus were shocked. "How did it know our desired location." Trix asked. "I have no idea, but if it could breach our defences that fast...I'm not suprised." Trix took a mental note, to report this to the navy. Security-programs should get a lot better. Trix hooked herself back up with the Aslinde's interface, immediately her vision went red, the comm system was overflooded with voices, the sensors picked up high fields of radiation and debree. Trix quickly linked up with the battle net. "This is commander Zedong and Reynolds, we've just entered the system, please advise." She quickly recieved a data-feed showing what happened and what had to be done. "Nexus take defensive positions between the "Broadsword and the origination of those missiles." Nexus nodded as he set course. Trix was happy that even the abundance of missiles hadn't penetrated to her planet, and she even had incredible news for everyone. She opened a link with the Admiral. "What is it?" the Admiral asked. "I've got something you would want to see." she quickly transferred a video-log of what happened in the time she was gone. Then she disconnected and focused back at the situation at hand. This battle wasn't over yet.
