5~10 is a good number to have, depending on the army and method you play you might need 15.. or in one rare absurd case 64...
Necros wrote:Also did you ever post your kickstarter on board game geek? I know it's board games but there's a big Kickstarter forum there, for all kinds of games. I had a bunch of backers from there.
The Miniatures Page is also a good place to post news, but you have to be an advertiser to get on the front page .. but you can do a banner ad for like $5 a month and that's all it takes.
I've had.. issues.. with BGG in the past, but I'll throw something up there shortly. I posted on TMP's forums about it though.

Well played indeed.
Thank you, kind sir I was pleased with the idea. I keep thinking there should be like 3-4 different items you can put into his hand, might be a future option for the production molds. Just so many cool thing you could put in that hand in that position.
Cyp: Loving the new concept arts! Can't wait to see the models that come of them!

Alternate sculpts are something we've planned from the beginning, especially since you could easily fill a party with the same 'Class' if you wanted to.

What do you want to see in Brushfire's 3rd year?
How about alternative non-named commander/leader types for the different armies, for example a mouse/rat leader with different weapon load-outs (and ablities?) for the Mare-Civitas.

Like the Mouse Conquistador?
Every faction in Brushfire has two generic heroes, and at least 2 named ones (which are generally the same species as the generic). Aquitar will be the first to get its 2econd hero when the Weasel Trapper is released this summer.
Awesome! Everyone seriously should donate, even a little bit helps OTL get out one of their coolest (theme, fluff, etc..) armies out to the public... And will allow them to push out other projects like Endless Fantasy Tactics, which let's be honest... We all want that.

Thanks Alf (and Casey, and everyone else!)
Every little bit helps us get out more models quicker.
With how the Kickstarter is looking, we should have the first Chugoku troop out around September. Just gotta figure out which one... (Red Claw's Red Wu (Red Pandas) is winning, With the Lem Han looking likely as well (as Dan really wants to sculpt it )

Hassan and the Gecko Riders are on my list of 'Get Heath to make art of soon' though.
About 47 hours left on the clock, and about $550 left to go for our first stretch goal. Make sure to get your extra pledges in for shipping and other goodies like additional blisters ($10), squad boxes($30), starter sets($30), or dice packs($5).
You can take a look at what else is currently available in the OTL Web Store. Before we ship out we'll double check to make sure if there isn't anything else you'd like add to your shipment.
I just emailed Cyp, and it looks like she will add the 240,000$ reward level, which gets you my house, 5000$ of Brushfire stuff of your choice, as well as much faster turn around time on Capybara orders. I expect she will have that as an option in no time.

Yep, just had to adjust it to the maximum of $10,000 that Kickstarter has. I'm sure you'll have no issue with this.
Yes, I hope so! Someone also mentioned that it doesn't necessarily take into account the frenzy of contributions that can happen at the end (since people can set Kickstarter to remind them when there is only 1 day left on a project).
Edit: And you've already soared past $4k, Stretch Goal funded! Congratulations
I'm pulling for you on this one as it was a great way for me to finally purchase some of your products. I have fond memories of flintloque and this always makes me smile when I see it as I am a huge historicals fan and parodys can be fun.
Its great that we've got around 40 or so folks getting armies out of this, should really help spread the game out to more groups!
Matt and I have been talking to Lockark this evening about his character, and he has a lot of great ideas for her. Scyzantium players should be pretty happy
less then 24hrs to go, less then $500 to go until we hit $5k.. which if we do, everyone who is getting dice will get an extra one
10hrs to Go! We've added a last minute high dollar reward: $2000 gets you 1 of every Book (Including the RPG Historia Rodentia), Blister, Squad Box, and Warband currently released for Brushfire AND all of our remaining 2012 releases. AND the last untouched out of print 1st Edition Badger-At-Claw (Leandro Ventic's sculpt) remaining in the OTL Office.
If someone decides to chip in and tip the balance, I'll paint up to 2 Starter/Troop sets of their Kickstarter miniatures free of charge. If anyone's interested, shoot me a PM and we'll discuss the details!

This is really awesome GT!
With only 6hrs to go, lets hope someone takes you up on this offer!
We're up over the $5000 mark thanks to someone increasing thier pledge! If that lucky someone was you, let me know if you want your miniatures painted!
I'll extend the same offer to the next person to pledge at the $60 or higher level!
If you would like to add anything to your pledge, just use the same prices listed on Kickstarter: Additional Blisters ($10), Squad Boxes($30), Starter Sets($30), Rulebook($20), or Dice Packs($5).
and send the payment to Paypal@On-The-lamb.com
And don't forget the shipping...
Spoiler:
We'll cover the first $5 of shipping, after that we ask that you add a little extra to your donation. We use Priority Flat Rate boxes for the most part which will generally cover the cost of the $30 and below levels domesticly. Canada/Mexico would be an additional $5, Europe and the rest of the world is $10.
For the $60 & $100 levels we'll use a Medium Flat Rate Box, so please add $6. Canada is an additional $20. Europe and the rest of the world is an additional $45.
The $130 and greater rewards will ship using a Large Flat Rate Box. Within the US is an additional $10. Canada is an additional $35. Europe and the rest of the world is an additional $55.
If you folks can find $5 then i'll add the other $99 to take the funding to $5,500.
So check down the back of your sofa and in the pockets of that old pair of jeans!
That's awesome, Casey! I'm sure someone can put in $5 (for another 3 custom dice, perhaps... or if they haven't ordered any yet, it'd be 4 with the bonus die since the kickstarter hit the $5k level).
I ended with just doing the 1$ backing for the PDF. I was not sure how customs would take a package from the States to Denmark. Do you have a EU outlet? Internal purchases in the EU is petty much custom free. And cheap postal too.
It's no where near what some people(read 'you' ) have put in to the pot but it's nice to do my bit. I just wish i could have afforded more.
Also, as an update, i sent the funds last night plus what was left over to push the project just over $5,500. So congratulations to Emily for hitting that marker! Thats 275% funded now if your planning on updating the subject.

Not yet, we've been trying to get a UK/EU distro but not had any luck.
Looks like we only had two non-payers. Which comes to about $150 uncollected :/

It's not too bad honestly shipping to Denmark as I have done it a number of times. Finland is a pain and Spain I just plain don't trust. Malta can take a while but overall the EU is pretty nice to ship too. Stuff comming out of I watch out for as to many British companies attempt to charge VAT to scam us out of country folks.
Trust me, I checked while he slept at the last Dakka con, then drew them on with a permanent marker. Good thing summer is almost here, he probably is needing a re-tread on them.
Looking forward to seeing those dice, Cyp! Funny thing is, usually positions are reversed, and people are waiting on me for dice... I need to forget about them for about 7 weeks now
We've revised the Quickstart Rules for Brushfire, which you can grab off Wargame Vault for free. This updated booklet version of the Quickstart Rules will be included in every Warband as soon as we can get them printed.
Of course you could also just grab the full rulebook off of Wargame Vault for only $1... Just sayin..
Going to work on making the molds for the sandguard and monkey man this weekend now that I am back in the land of My Stuff, home of chemicals and actual mattresses!
Daniel sent along some picks of the Chipmunk Weapon Team with their Chaingun, this mostly finished unit just needs to get their Mortar option sculpted.
We were at GTS Distribution's Come & Play Day in Atlanta yesterday/Thursday, and talked to a lot of retailers, with a lot of positive interest in Brushfire.

Rolt wrote:The Red-Wu concepts are looking great, just out of question are ever going to see an Avian based race in the Brushfire world?
Flight-Capable Avians are generally not seen in Brushfire, and when they are they are considered angelic creatures. There is one Flight-Capable Avian that did make it in as a named hero though in Ribenguo, and old Crow by the name of Tengu Sakai.
Flight-Incapable Avians exist in the setting mostly as non-sapient Mounts; The Vandalands has Kiwis, Chugoku has Chickens, and The Federated States of Vespuccia and Xalepena have Roadrunners. There is a sapient Penguin character in Ribenguo, as one of the Seven Wanderers, Tamatama.
Looking forward to the pair of Gerbils . That pilot is sweet, but I can't imagine too many will sell without a suit to eject out of (unless they can somehow be used in another fashion?).

Valkyr is coming, just don't have an solid plan for it yet.
The Pilot, and the Gerbil Engineer are both not really combat-y Brushfire models so they are being released under our upcoming line of Historia Rodentia miniatures. (IE, they are more meant to be PCs/NPCs) We plan to expand this out slowly with more models that *could* be used in Brushfire, but are really more meant for the RPG.
Watching it now, very interesting. ^^ Probly should of be edited before going up. In all honesty could of used a better recording method. Sorry I'm nitpicking, do abit of streaming my self.

Also prety sure I have that exact same bitz organizer sitting behind me. XD
I'm personally really excited to see the sculpt of the Lem Han, and we should soon. Daniel is working on the Red Wu right now (which is looking great!) and [Classified], Lem Han will be right after that.
A Gencon Update: Mantic Games will be carrying the Brushfire miniatures line at the show.
We'll be running two sessions of Historia Rodentia while at Gencon this year.
Buried Secrets The 4th Foreign Legion has set out from San Murino, heading south on routine caravan route patrol. An uneventful first four days, until the ruins of a caravan was found on the fifth. Little information was found, no survivors were found, but tracks were discovered. Company C was given the task of heading south-west to chase down the brigands. Three days later while thoughts of closing in on the brigands, the company was ambushed, you are the remains that were able to escape out into the desert. That’s when the sand storm came...
Game ID: RPG1238452 Friday 2pm
Location: Union Station :: Monon :: 1
Game ID: RPG1238453 Sat @ 11:00 AM Location: JW :: 309 :: 3
Premade characters will be provided, all you'll need is dice.

Yes, though from what Wehrkind is telling me it's a little big for even a 50mm base, might have to look into getting round lipped 60mm bases sooner then expected...
RiTides wrote:

Is this something other than the refurbished Valkyr?
The chaingun certainly does look like it could use a 60mm base, or perhaps have the gunner have his own base... a bit cramped on there as it is.
Yes, it's not the Refurb Valkyr... it's not even in the core book. Though it is mentioned in the RPG...
and its more an issue that the Gunner+Chaingun is about 50mm exactly in length, while the inner base on a RLB is about 40mm, so it hangs off a small bit.
Yea, it isn't too bad, not Skorne elephant levels of overhang, with their bloody tusks. Just cramped. Plus, without knowing the rules for them, I am guessing they evaporate in melee, so it isn't an issue there
I meant aesthetically more than anything- it's a chaingun, it can have a big base!
Looking forward to this mysterious vandalands adepticon item!
Any chance there'd be a Brushfire model in the swag bag this year? Might not be a bad idea to get folks interested although I don't know if it's too cost-prohibitive.

Most of the July Resin releases just arrived, along with a restock of Sand Guard, Capitaines, and Civitan Marines; and we're working on sorting them out now. These will begin shipping likely tomorrow before we leave for Ancient City Con.
- Weasel Trapper (Aquitar) - Blister
- Kong Ming (Chugoku) - Blister
- Shaka War Hog (Zabar) - Blister & Squad Box
- Pride Lioness (Zabar) - Blister
- Hyena Witch Doctor (Zabar) - Blister & Squad Box
- Tribes of Zabar Warband
We hope to have the Chipmunk Weapon Team and Marmot Medic before the end of the month.
Want to give Brushfire a try without having to spend a dime? Use Paperfire along with the Brushfire Quickstart Rules to get the basics of the game down before commiting to it. This PDF includes paper cut outs of the models included in the Aquitar and Mare-Civitas warband starter sets, just print, cut, and play!
You will of course need a friend, or a particuarly skillful Dog to play with, a table to play on, and a handful of D10 dice.
Grab these for free, along with the Quickstart Rules from WargameVault.

Additionaly...
We have a chance to get Brushfire and/or Historia Rodentia into "The Gamers 3: The Hands of Fate", and we're going to do our best to make it happen. To do so, we need to get 200 Likes/Shares on this image on our Facebook page.
If you could take a moment to click a button, we'd really appreciate it. If you are interested in backing the film's Kickstarter (You don't have to!), leave a comment that On The Lamb Games sent you.

On face book, it was mentioned that there's going to be an exclusive figure at war store weekend, and it'll be viewable at GenCon. (But you didn't hear it from me)

It looks fantastic, RiTides. I asked Cyporiean when the pictures of the mark one would go up, and she said "errrghhhh." today was a long day for us. I'll pester her a bit later
Just a reminder folks, We're leaving for Gencon tomorrow morning and will not be back until the 20th (late in the day). Orders can still be placed while we are gone, but they will not ship until we get back.
If your attending Gencon make sure stop by booth #1245 (Mantic Games), and say "Hi!". We'll be previewing several upcoming models and giving demos of Brushfire out in the open gaming area.
How many models would you consider a 'full-scale' warfare game, austinitor? Brushfire is easily adaptable to many point levels, and the game doesn't slow down too much when you scale up the model count!
Anyone at GenCon and who has the time should swing by and find me, I'll be running demos in the gaming area, and it can get awfully lonely sometimes!~ (I'll be in an official Brushfire shirt!)
Full scale? Oh, I don't know... 150 total figures on the board? Essentially something in the WHFB or KoW scale, rather than skirmish-level like Waramahordes, Malifaux, Infinity (or even Necromunda, Combat Patrol, Mordheim, etc).
Anyway, I'll be there all four days (I live in the Circle City of Death, after all!), so would certainly like a demo.

Well, in a 150 Resource game (generally the standard), Vandalands can get up to 95 models if it really feels like it. (Most others would be around 16 to 35)
at 500 Resources, most armies would be around 50 to 100 models, with Vandalands getting up to 300 models...
Chugoku's Red Wu troop:
Sculpted by Daniel Fokine.
Vandaland's Valkyr Mk.1 troop:
WIP Sculpted by Bob Naismith
The first model in the new Mark (Mk.) series of Valkyr, the Mk. 1 brings new gyroscopic and armor technologies into the basic defense unit of the county of Federwerk. Designed to fit the slightly larger height of Rat pilots and with controls within reach of the smaller Shrews, the Valkyr Corps is expanding quickly, as thousands of these clockwork soldiers come off the assembly line. Technology sharing between Vandalands and the Civitan Trade Alliance has instantly seen a boon to the nation, and as new Mk series Valkyr move from the drawing board to the factory, the combat roles of the Valkyr will likely expand.
and for our upcoming Historia Rodentia line of RPG miniatures...
Refurbished Valkyr:
Sculpted by Daniel Fokine
In battle, Valkyr lose parts or are damaged beyond operation and abandoned by the armies of the Vandals. The Federwerk Junker’s Guild falls upon these abandoned battlefields to recover these bits and pieces, eventually rebuilding and refurbishing these Valkyr for the use of private citizens. These machines are not usually ready for military use, but equipment for guard work or personal security creates are large market for such clockwork suits. Despite this market, the Valkyr Corp see the reuse of their technologies as illegal and the Junker’s Guild operates in a black market capacity via the Rattengoth crime syndicate.
Brantley of Federwerk, Sculpted by Daniel Fokine. (On the turn table)
Valkyr Corp pilots are a tough and smart breed. Few intellectuals would dare face the giants of the Volk-Ursal Republics, but the gerbils of Federwerk go up against such threats wrapped in a ton of steel, wood, and clockwork. Without their armored suits the Pilots are little threat to their opponents, but with pistol in hand they will protect their county to their last breath.
Engineer Falk of Federwerk, Sculpted by Daniel Fokine. (On the turn table)
Though the ace pilots may get the credit on the battlefield, the engineers are always designing new versions and keeping the old ones running. For the city and county of Federwerk these engineers keep the first line of defense operating against the monstrous bears and wolves of the Volk-Ursal Republics from spilling into Vandal territories. The mechanics keep their heads in their work, so they won’t end up in the belly of a predator.
Bernard Legrand of the Grand Armee, Sculpted by Leandro Ventic. (On the turn table)
For centuries the backbone of Aquitar has been the Badger. With force of will, muscle, and claw, Badgers have built the sprawling underground cities and the infrastructure that keeps their military moving. Their value is seen nowhere more oft than the Grand Armee. The regiments of Badgers-At-Claw create a powerful weapon of terror, and effective shock troops, able to take a rifle volley and continue charging and tear their enemies to shreds.
and....
The Black Kiwi, sculpted by Daniel Fokine.
Our first Halloween/TheWarStore Weekend special edition miniature.
Big thanks to Alfendrate and Sekai for running Brushfire demos all weekend, and to Gymnogyps for hand deliviering the Red Wu and Veiled Assassin to the show.
We've got a whole bunch of stuff to announce over the next few weeks, so keep an eye out.. UK fans will be very happy soon.
Oh, and Bob Naismith dropped this in my inbox this morning:
Question on the Black Kiwi... is it possible for those of us not going to the warstore weekend to get our hands on one? (kinda like how wyrd and PP offer con exclusives on their webstore during said con?)
Alfndrate wrote: Question on the Black Kiwi... is it possible for those of us not going to the warstore weekend to get our hands on one? (kinda like how wyrd and PP offer con exclusives on their webstore during said con?)
It will be available on our website from the beginning of TWSW until the end of Halloween.
I'm in negotiations with my other half regarding heading up for the Warstore Weekend... it may work out well for handing off all the painted goodies we should have ready at that point.
And Valkyr is amazing... but the Black Kiwi has stolen my heart. That dude is going on my desk at work when I get one all painted up. It totally goes with Heath's artwork and my geographic map of New Zealand.
Mongoose wrote:Rattenkrieg – The Shape of Things to Come?
28/08/2012
Chatting with our friends at On The Lamb Games at Gen Con this year, we started debating the possible directions some of our joint projects could go in. We considered a few ideas, pursued others, and their artist knocked up a couple of pictures on the spot…
American GI Racoon
A Rat in a Gas Mask
Whatever could we do with these ideas..?
Now, coupling this with:
1) Prior rumors that Mongoose and Brushfire were going to combine forces to make a larger, not-skirmish but more full-scale version of Brushfire called "Warclaw"
2) Cyporiean saying "And because it came up on Facebook, I will confirm that these are not models for Brushfire."
3) Their hints of "The shape of things to come?" and "Whatever could we do with these ideas?"
4) Their saying "We started debating the possible directions some of our joint projects could go in..."
Point to the fact that this partnership with Mongoose is still, in fact, happening. Which would be fantastic!
Also very interesting is the timeframe and setting of these two sketches (apparently drawn up at Gen Con!?). "American", and somewhat modern, due to the gun. The gas mask rat narrows the timeframe depicted down to more of a WWI-WWII era.
Now, that is a different timeframe than Brushfire is based off of, with mostly melee weapons. It would be very interesting how these two things could interact. Perhaps similar to how "Warmachine" and "Hordes" work together, with different levels of technology, but usable against one another?
While this is excellent news, Gimme Ivory Chieftan first. My Zabar plans involve big elephants. =D
But if my WWII guesses are accurate, this should be really cool. When I show off brushfire people usually ask me about the Russian faction. Maybe we'll get one for WWII?
In Brushfire news, Its looking like near the end of this month we'll have greens for the Gecko Riders, Taijir Serai, the Agamid Vizier, and.. someone Vandalandian to show off.
Scyzantium is definitely getting a lot of much deserved love this quarter.
Edit:
Also, we've donated a nice gift voucher to Dakka's Biggest Contest ever, so much sure to enter.

We will be changing the style of packaging used for Brushfire's Squad Boxes/Warbands in the near future as we will not be using the white plastic cases anymore, and will be switching to cardboard boxes. While direct customer orders may contain a mix of the new/old style packaging for a few weeks, starting today all Retail/Wholesale orders will be using the new style of boxes.

Now, as the world has settled into it’s new order, one of the Crystals has fractured, and a sickening, corrupting miasma has spewed forth, altering any who touch it. A new war rises on this planet of Endless Day and Endless Night. Will your group be the heroes who save Terra?
With a counter at the bottom of the page... I heard from an insider source that a kickstarter might be going up for this game in a month.
Aye, we've had the Sorcerer at every con we've gone to since GAMA Trade Show back in march.. and it was in the display case with the Brushfire stuff when you visited OTL.
We've just gotten in WIPs of the Dragoon, which will be shown when we launch the Kickstarter for Endless. We're mainly just waiting on two pieces of Artwork from Heath and to build hype, as this project requires a higher initial goal then our previous ones.
Over the next few weeks we'll start talking about Endless more and more.
yeah... There is a bug with what I did... I filtered it, clicked the specific post button on the upper left hand side, and it took me to the page but not the post lol...
So after a twitter based "interview" here are the answers/responses I got about Endless Fantasy Tactics
@AspirantRanger wrote:Is there a basic rundown on gameplay yet to avoid asking what has been answered?
@onthelambgames wrote:Not Yet, EFT is a d6 pool based system on a square grid play surface. Players form parties of 5 to 10 minis with various abilities. EFT models work a little like Brushfire heroes do, in that they have a list of abilities to choose from and you can only have so many per fig.
Will we see a set of campaign rules along the lines of Brushfire, or is the game more focused on random skirmishes?
@onthelambgames wrote:Campaign Rules will be included, they are something we enjoy.
Also, based on your inspirational material can we expect to see NPC models ala monsters or judges?
@onthelambgames wrote:First stretch goal features an Earth Troll. . We plan to allow monsters as part of a party, after all not everyone wants to fight for truth and justice. As for NPCs/Non-combatants/AI, that might fit into a little better with Endless Fantasy Roleplaying... should such a thing occur.
Okay, I was referring to scenario, "judicators" that would enforce "arena style" rules ala tactics advanced.
@onthelambgames wrote:Models that change the way everyone plays? Likely.
Can we expect to see limited Brushfire Crossovers? Like The Black Kiwi on a yellow short beaked kiwi w/a rider in plate armor?
@onthelambgames wrote:Crossovers between Brushfire and EFT is highly unlikely
Assuming the kickstarter succeeds, when can we expect to see an actual release?
@onthelambgames wrote:Retail release for EFT is aimed at GenCon next year, but we plan to have stuff shipping out to backers sooner. Maybe AdeptiCon? The Kickstarter wil list 'August 2013' as the shipping date, but we'll ship out pledge rewards as quickly as we can fill them.
@AspirantRanger wrote: Sounds fun! The summary on the website made it sound like there could be a few 'factions'. How many total?
@onthelambgames wrote:EFT will have an Endless number of factions in a sense. All models will be usable by all players. We'll detail a number of groups/nations in the fluff, but you'll easily be able to make your own as well.
Based on the "nations" in the teaser put up today, can we get a rundown of those nations/factions?
@onthelambgames wrote:As we get closer to the Kickstarter/during it, we'll post more world fluff and info about the groups/nations.
Any faction specific art yet?
@onthelambgames wrote:No faction specific art until we start getting to the Character Stretch goals
So, there is a lot of information being tossed around, lots of cool stuff to make me excited for this kickstarter, but sad that a general release is still a year off... I suspect it will be a fun time though
The Aug Date is mostly to give us a nice buffer. As this is a huge project, and we want it done right, we'd rather not rush things. We also don't want to just trickle out models, but would like to launch with a good number of options available.
We've always shipped preorders out asap, and we will continue this trend with Kickstarter pledges.
I figured as much, and it actually is refreshing to know when you want it released, my biggest complaint with kickstarters is that I never really knew when things would be released.
Additionally, the Kickstarter reward packs are likely to NOT match Retail. We've priced it out so as to cover the costs of everything, and to give you a nice bang for your buck when we hit the stretch goals.
Alfndrate wrote: I know that we'll be privy to this in a few weeks, but can you tell us what the goal you hope to achieve is?
20k to get the bare minimum done, which will pay for the initial sculpts, art, casting, and printing costs.
We've got stretch goals currently planned to 330k, and are working on more ideas.
Some people may feel the initial pledge reward price is alittle high, but once we start piling on the stretch goals (The majority of which are auto-added to the pledge reward at no extra cost) it should look alot better.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Going back to Brushfire for a moment, Bob Naismith sent along some new WIP pics..
Well, considering that Scyzantium is far more desert than sea, it's the legs we should be worried about. Most turtles and tortoises have very similar legs except for the finned sea-faring variety. I had a painted turtle and he had similar claws to the local Eastern Box Turtle, and the EBT doesn't go into water as much...
Cyporiean wrote: The Geckos are from the coastal regions of Bharat & Scyzantium, and make up the bulk of Scyzantium's naval forces along with the Anoles.
But either way, the turtle will have land-turtle legs in the next update.
sept for the odd choice of fins for feat, it's other wise a great modle, that's prety true to the concept art.
=O
The latest Prestashop update completely wrecked the OTLG Webshop. It will be awhile until the shop is up and running again, lots of bugs in this update. If you'd like to place an order, please e-mail us at Contact@on-the-lamb.com
The Webshop is (Mostly) back up and running. We lost the Images and PDFs, but customer information appears to be intact. If you have trouble logging in, or checking out please contact us.
We'll slowly be re-uploading the images and PDF files today, but it will take several hours, and may cause a delay in tomorrow's Endless: Fantasy Tactics preview...
An ancient soldier rides a diseased steed on an endless journey. The back roads of the Vandalands tremble with terror during the dark nights of the harvest months. Children are kept indoors, when the sounds of bird claws and unnatural wailing echo through isolated villages.
Many stories attempt to tell the tale of the Black Kiwi and it’s mysterious rider. North Vandal legends often describe the horrible end to a crusader on his return home; Southerners relate a tale of betrayal in a Count’s castle; and Marchlanders tell of the dark forests warping a lone wanderer into the spectre of death.
Wherev’ the dark figure comes from,
When the harvest moon fills the sky,
His bones and mangy steed return,
the Black Kiwi makes one last ride. “The Legend of the Black Rider“ by Johann Karl Maus (1810 AF)
The Black Kiwi is a Limited Edition Historia Rodentia model and will only be available on our website and at The Warstore Weekend from Oct. 26-31 2012 for $20.
As a heads up, we will have a very small supply of 'The Black Kiwi's at TWSW, so if you want to get one in person you'll need to stop by our booth early.
Website orders won't be limited, we just weren't able to get very many in before the show.
RiTides wrote: I don't see a way to add it to cart on the website, Cyp?
I'll take 5

Also hoping to get something else you're interested in preorderable this week, something big and clockworky.
We'll see about that! But I would certainly like to either play or watch a game of it, if you guys are doing so (I'm going to try to meet up with you at Dropzone Games that evening now, will be calling Gymnogyps to make sure I don't miss you guys).

Having received said snark in person I feel loved.
The more that is getting released about EFT the more I like.
Oh ya, and The Black Rider will probably be added to my aquitar. Total disclosure: Still haven't fully assembled my shrew carbineers because the kiwis are agony getting together.

You might be happy to know 'The Black Kiwi' is only 3 pieces: Kiwi, Rider, and Rider's Tail.
I just want to say thank you on that one!
After I got all the kiwi's put together, I was so frustrated with assembling the models I had to shelf them to finish the riders latter. Still haven't had the heart to tackle putting that unit together agien.
That's one model I will be looking foreword to making the switch to resin.
@M@
Its not too likley that the Troop Kiwi Mount will switch over to a single piece resin, the casting for the Black Kiwi is very difficult and prone to going all finecast on us.
We're looking into making the Kiwis easier for folks to deal with, but I'm not sure when or how that will be done. The upcoming Chugoku Chickens should be a lot easier.

Possibly 4-5 pieces, depending on how the beak and ankles survive shipping to you
But yea, what Cyp said about the casting difficulty. Barring a resculpt to make the heads and/or legs separate bits, resin will be tricky. Though possible. Still working it out while trying to get 1000 other models made
Speaking of limited... if you want to order one and don't expect to get to TWSW in a few days to pick one of those up, you should shoot Cyp an email or PM about it. The mold is getting a little... sad and I don't know how many total are going to come out of it before they start taking pieces of mold with them. If people want like 30 I will probably make a new mold to do so. Otherwise this might be limited to ~25 black kiwis in existence ever.
I dunno, Cyp has the last word, but letting her know it is worth doing might be a good plan!
