Yeah... but wouldn't the only alternative be to only count the points that have been submitted in a pic to this thread?
Both sides would lose alot of points if they had to "prove it with a pic"

Although that doesn't make it a bad idea. In fact it might be pretty cool to have a thread with over a million points pictured on either side.
I'm somewhat against the idea of pics because I don't have a working camera and I posted truthfully (we all say that don't we?).. though I'm well under the 10k mark anyway. I'm sure with most cases of fraud, it doesn't happen all that often.
Nonetheless, it would be pretty cool to have a Dakka Dakka armies on parade thread.
Working on a photolog for my Orks. Should be done in a day or two for the stuff i have at home.
I have some of my older stuff in storage (about 10,000 pts of 1st/2nd ed Orks, mostly) that i'll pull out and photo when i'm next up that way.
It was somewhat sobering to realise that i literally couldn't fit all my orks on a 6x10 table, and even a 10 x 10 floor was proving problematic. I'm photoing them in groups instead, but some day i want to get them all in one shot
I think i may have (just slightly...) bitten off more than i can chew, paintingwise..

It's hardly that serious and experiment, is it? Most likely the numbers would balance out over those few who thought it'd be a good idea to lie, for whatever reason.
Furthermore, I've seen newer players accuse more veteran players of lying about how many points they have. Some don't seem to be able to fathom that, yes, somebody could easily end up with 20,000pts of something after playing the game for the best part of 20 years.
Not talking about me, in this case, I've only got around 9000pts total at the moment in various armies. At the last count, anyway.
There are also a number of people posting armies for other people... To me this is wrong, outside of "within the household" family members, because what is to say that the "friend" who people are posting for didn't already post their army? I mean, we pretty much all know that Morathi is married to another Dakkanaut, and has accounted for them (sorry I forget which user it is)
I'd rather not recount the whole thread to eliminate the "my friend" or "my shop" army counts, but it probably should be done.

So thats another 2000 points for order in the shape of some Tau and Grey Knights. and another 2500 points in the shape of Tyranids. wich brings the tally to.....

Keep it going Dakka! I haven't seen a single Mod on this thread, what are their army counts? Do they even have armies? Are we being guided by people that love the Warhammer universe, but have no armies to speak of? What is this madness?

Yeah I failed. 20,000 points with a pic was something close to the 5th post in, made by a mod. But still, I haven't seen most the other mods I encounter in most of the other threads. Maybe they haven't stumbled on this yet.

Mine are by and large butt-ugly or unpainted too, but i have no sense of shame
I can't paint to save my life, and i have other projects that have always lured me away from painting my orks (it's a bit daunting to look at an ork horde and start painting..)
My new-years resolution was to paint the little buggers, and so far i have about 3 units done. I'm going to be propping up the sale of paints and brushes for years to come..
Doesn't help that i really can't stop myself buying MORE stuff at the same time

Wouldn't it be more likely that people give command of either their order or destruction to someone else? Otherwise they'll be running backwards and forwards too much during the game (trying to play both attacker and defender at once) and won't get as much out of it. Plus trying to make plans to fight yourself becomes very confusing after a while...
Its getting the models back afterwards that would be my worry. Think on how many little grey army folk will be running about on a HUGE network of tables. . .

Well yes, there is a (as you call it) 'Big Flat Rock in the Middle of the Desert' however, the locals could well have a rather large objection to us using it for that, so we could have more damage on troops than what is recieved from the opposing team.
I'm so glad I started this thread... I neglected it for a month and I return to see it rampant with growth. Well done Dakka Dakka, One Million Points for each side is not only incredible, it's almost unimaginable!!
I know that's not everyone on Dakka Dakka though, so spread the word to your friends, I just saw a picture of 12,000 points of GK's being commissioned to an unknown buyer.... so we're definitely not done with the headcounts just yet. Keep up the great work!
I suppose i'm an exception to the rule. I'm a stingy bastard (by 40k player terms anyway) who can't justify buying any vehicle kits. and thus makes them all from scratch, and can hardly justify buying anything besides boyz and nobz boxes, and those i get from ebay. The only thing i get directly from GW is greenstuff. Which i use to turn nobz and boyz into whatever other infantry unit i need.
They should invite all the Dakka players that added their points to this thread and make an Olympic event out of it using the totalt amount of points accumulated xD

You're allowed to bring everything. Including your BA. I just want to know how many points Dakka can field at once at absolute maximum. You don't need to inflate points by strapping on every addition either - just do what you'd like to bring in an Apoc battle involving this many points.
Alright I'll bring my 1500 point blood angel army for order and my 2000 point ork army with a FW deamon prince ally for 145 points for Chaos. I just started my Deamon army.
