Does anybody know if we're meant to have registered the name we want printed on the boxes yet? I'm going through and selecting everything but can't find a way to add a name yet.
You Have to pay for shipping it's not covered by the voucher which amounts the total combined amount you pledged during the crowd funding. There was no way to add shipping unless you over pledged. At a later time they will give you another voucher to cover what you paid for shipping that you can spend in the store but that is not part of the current voucher. That's how I understand it to work.
In the end I pledged for the extra tiles but now that battle systems are doing a fantasy set I decided not get the HQ ones so I used the €22 to cover the shipping. You can allocate the voucher however you like so if you drop an add on you pledged for you can use that money towards shipping.
At the end of the day I didn't want to give GZ another penny given how it's gone so far (still waiting for English versions of the updates about the PM) so I was happy to drop the add on and use it cover the postage
My understanding is that the voucher should equate to the amount you pledged. You then need to pay for the shipping on top, unless (like DaveC) you want to forsake part of what you pledged to cover the shipping cost.
But when all of that is sorted, Gamezone will send you a second voucher for the value you spent on shipping this time around, for use on a future purchase.
update #43 is now in English - ah now I see how you enter the name you want on the box (not that I particularly care I'll just leave it blank it's submitted now anyway)
Oops, I missed that as well. I'll try an get mine changed and report back if it's a real pain in the ass
Automatically Appended Next Post: Okay, that was really straight forward. Seems stupid even having to post this but....
If you forgot to add the name you want in the box:
log in on the GZ website
go to your account page
click on "history and details of my orders"
click on the red order number
scroll down to the bottom of the order form
type whatever you want on your box into the "add a message" box
Click on send.
And that concludes the pointlessly easy tutorial, brought to you by Gorechild
I have the following problems:
1. The price of the product was at around 91 euros and not 110
2. Proceeding with the payment and using my pledge code, I got an error message. However paypal informed me that the payment has been completed an now I cannot use the code anymore.
I had the same issue with 1. I couldn't get it to charge me €110 in the end I put it through at €91 and it gave me a new credit voucher for the other €19 so I included a message in the comment box telling them to take the difference from the voucher and we are all square.
2. is a known issue
Any problem with your discount voucher?
If you have any trouble doing the payment related to the bank payment platform, maybe when you check your account to make the new process you find out that the discount voucher is no longer there. Don’t worry, we are aware of this.
When a transaction is not closed we receive an automatic alert and we’ll proceed to reactivate your discount voucher. Is not necessary for you to tell us, the online store system notifies us and we´ll act accordingly. But remember it could take us a few hours, specially if this problem happens while us mere mortals are covering any basic need such as eating or sleeping.
Many thanks for the response.
I saw this message bit thought that if there was an error this would mean that the money wouldn't have been sent. But in this case the transaction has been completed and they received the money. I suspect that it has something to do with this extra 14 euros of the shipping cost which didn't appear to the check out as long as the price of the product was 91 and not 110 euros.
I think only they can solve it and somehow charge me with the extra money but there should be some communication, which was not possible until now, although my efforts. I will keep trying to reach them.

OPEN RULES BETA
SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER
We want everything to be perfect with this 25th anniversary edition, from the miniatures to the scenery and, of course, the Rules. We have set a deadline for ourselves to polish the HeroQuest Classic rules by August, and although we have the invaluable help of several groups of players for betatesting, we think this is another area where our incredible community of players can make the difference. That is why we hope to count on your help during this task, so we can take a final look at everything together before sending the books to print.
Couldn't remember any mention of it on here, but (fingers crossed) it should give us something to look forward too before December! So they should be adding their final touches to the rule set right now.
Orlanth wrote: After seeing how lacklustre Mantic's Dungeon Saga looks in comparison, I am even more happy to have backed a quality looking product.
Definitely looks like Mantic's latest isn't the value that some of their other releases have been. Although, some of the previous ones were ridiculous, so perhaps that had to happen sooner or later!
I'm thinking of getting involved with both and then 'hedging by bets' as it were. If one turns out to be rubbish or just doesn't ever arrive I'll be sorted, if both arrive the worst will find its way to ebay or be cannibalised for bits, if both don't arrive I will go back to playing Descent!
Has anyone been able to look at the Spanish forum to see if there had been any updates recently?
I am not bothering with Mantic at all, it looks fairly crap frankly. Anyway I bought Heroquest mainly for the miniatures, I like Gamzone's quality and I really like what I see here, it will be RPG fuel, I might in fact never actually play the game as intended.
I wanted the minaitures so bad , so much so that I bought the maxed out version, and then when looking at the options for extra units and scenics etc decided the most efficent way to get more would be to buy the game twice, so I opted in for a second core set.
As it happens I might end up keeping it as a game, depending on what we get and depending on what I see when I read the rules.
Definitely a big reason for me, I've got a collection of the Gamezone Dwarves and Undead and they are some fantastic miniatures. Really nice sculpts, like so much of the stuff coming out of Spain these days, and makes me very hopeful for this one.
I'm hoping my Fractured Dimensions KS would have delivered by then also to add in some juicy big D&D monsters and other minions!
Have spent some time trawling the Spanish GZ site, even braved BGG, and found a few comments.
I do wonder whether GZ are deliberately being quiet about this release so as not to bring the legal jackals down on them, or if it's just crap comms
A poster on BGG, from 2nd September.
GameZone has participated in april and june to 2 game conventions in Spain with their local distributor E-MINIS.
They have answered questions and presented more things to the backers. They also met the spanish backers directly and gave more details on the content of the box. Just go to their official website to check the latest videos : www.heroquestclassic.com
GameZone will present this month a part of the rules and some elements of the game. There won't be another update until december where you'll get a message to confirm your postal address before delivering.
The pledge manager period is terminated.
For those who missed the comments they wanted printed in the box is terminated too according to the official announcement they did on the official website (in spanish and british english languages).
If you have a problem, just use the contact page of their website.
They are trying to deliver the game for christmas to all backers as promised. The first expansion will be announced for next spring and should be available at the end of spring 2015.
A video posted on Spanish Heroquest site. In Spanish, had a quite look through and there are some looks at renders that we haven't seen before.
There are a handful of 3D renders on Deviantart (not official though, in the artists own gallery)
Spoiler:
And an interesting post made on the Spanish forum about legalise and distribution..
I'm going to answer you in british Inglés Clearly eleven and for all about the polemic.
1 No one called the legal service of the first HASBRO IBERIA concerned or the legal service of Their Own hasbro country.
2 If it was the case, you From their laywer would learn:
A . the tradermark is dead for more than 10 years to Hasbro Inc and in all other countries country where it is registered Automatically There are no official facebook, tweeter Unofficial, Unofficial stock, no sale, no project acerca the old trademark "HeroQuest." It Means a third party can do everything with it until it's not a perfect copy.
B You would Also learn HASBRO INC Proceeded to a full transfer of the rights at the end of the 90s. It Means Games Workshop has no more rigths on this trademark. But the authors of the original illustrations and the texts can ask a right so Gamezone Miniatures Had to change everything to avoid a legal issue with them.
C You can Easily Understand now why HASBRO Inc never made an opposition to the trademark registration Because They can not even if they 'wanted to do so. Same thing with "space crusade" Which is trademark already registered by GZ. Hasbro Inc did not so exploited trademarks Those five years after it's over.
D Miniatures GameZone have deposited & registered the trademark by using the Madrid's system. It Protects Their trademark in whole Europe and guarranties them the distribution. To add more, They also have deposited 2 new trademarks in Europe That should be registered on november. It are "HeroQuest classic "and" HeroQuest 25th anniversary. " They have not yet Announced they 'would come to ESSEN. Dionisio Remember I said wants to surprise the fans and it is the policy They have choosen since the start. To show the game there would not follow this idea. , Moreover, european They have contacts with distributors so they 'do not really need to go there. They are working hard on the new game to offer something amazing. If you plan to go there just to see "HeroQuest 25" then please wait the time a little bit info we have an answer from Dionysius himself Because if they 'are not there ...!
Anyway, all I could find for the time being (interesting comment there about Space Crusade if this is true!). There are a lot of alternative viewpoints on the Spanish forums, some hopefuly, some not-so (I guess the same as many threads of that nature on Dakka! )
I will look again in a week or so and post what I find.
Trademarks aren't copyright, but that's been discussed elsewhere.
And you're citing yet another interpretation of the law. Which means pretty much nothing, since most of these cases are settled. (Naturally, I found a Hasbro IP case in Spain that went to court.)
Hasbro waited until Hex was in beta, presumably because that's when Hasbro though they had enough evidence to file a lawsuit. Of course, the lawsuit isn't important -- many points of the lawsuit are close to specious. What's important is how Wizards and Cryptozoic resolve the issue. What's *not* important is how someone outside of a court interprets the law, because IP laws aren't cut-and-dry, at least in the US.
Seems pretty obvious to me that Hasbro would wait until the game is released or otherwise have more evidence before doing anything. I think at least Spanish backers will be able to get a copy of the game before anything happens. I haven't found anything suggesting Hasbro cares about whether or not backers receive anything. I have found plenty of examples of Hasbro attempting to protect its IP.
EDIT: Also, of course, GZ could just change the name of the game and provide a different ruleset. The eight-sided die they showed in a presentation certainly implies the latter, and I'm guessing they haven't printed the boxes and rulebooks yet?
I'm not citing anything, none of those are my own comments - just a cut & paste from some of the various posts and bits of news that I found on searching around the web that I thought people might find interesting.
If they have attended a couple of shows in Spain that is at least promising.
Although, at this point I really, really can't understand why they didn't just make a simple name change on the product. It would surely have stopped all of this BS.
GZ has been way too low key for my comfort on this. I understand not releasing mechanics or component shots with the (potential) legal snafus, but the complete lack of simple backer emails around the pledge manager or overall status is a bit concerning to me. I'd been waiting to lock down my pledge and pay shipping until I got a final notice email. I'm curious how many people aren't even aware they were supposed to pay shipping in the past month or so.
No problem. And, yes, their attendance at shows is some sort of promise. Their business address goes to a mailing forward box. Honesty, I thought there was a chance GZ would pretty much vanish after the funding period was over.
Anyway, GZ made about $1M on the first weekend on KS. Around the time, 1/3 of the a project's funding was the first weekend, so, had HQ25 not been pulled, it would have made maybe $3M. How much would they have made without the HQ name? Well, Mantic's Dungeon Saga made about $1M. GZ, not having the reputation that Mantic has, certainly would not have not made as much money. So "a single name" is worth over $2M, maybe $2.5M. I think there's a good-ish chance GZ will, if Hasbro takes action, just change the name, game components, and rules before or after backers receive product. Some backers won't be happy, but it's very unlikely they'll do anything aside from a credit card chargeback. (I don't think the WADA will get involved, nor will the Hansfree backer who is a lawyer!) GZ will still have had a $1M interest-free loan, and benefited from crowdfunding. If GZ ships the game as HeroQuest, and Hasbro and/or Moon Design decide to take action (latter pretty likely for the US market since MD owns the US trademark of HQ for their RPG (and who knows if a court will distinguish a boardgame from an RPG), though whether or not it will go to court is something else entirely)... well, it'll certainly be "interesting" -- and predicative of how GZ's Space Crusade would fare.
As for backer emails and the pledge manager, GZ's not allowing comments on Lazanos pretty much indicated to me how much communication they would have with their backers. The DDOS attacks didn't inspire me how well they would run their computer systems. GZ *is* a small company -- originally, just one man -- so I would expect this lack of post-funding communication et al.
EDIT: Sorry, should have mentioned that the Song of Blades and Heroes author, Andreas Sfiligoi, is easily approachable to work with new companies. One of his projects was writing rules for an ADW project, although the deal fell through. Song has a good following, and I think a Song of Blades and Heroes KS with GZ miniatures would have been a successful KS.
Very true about the naming conventions ced1106! Sure it must have helped the KS get as much money as it did in such a short period of time, and when that was cancelled the Lanzanos crowd funder. It's got massive cross-demographic appeal, that's for sure.
Will be interesting now whether it does get to be fully distributed, certainly outside of the EU. I hope for the sake of the 'man on the street' who has pledged their money to this that it can slip under the radar, as it were, and the backers at least can get their copy of the game even if the legal dogs are starting to sniff around it. (can you tell I'm not too keen on this whole lawsuit business, haha?! )
Although I never expected GZ just to disappear. They've released some fantastic fantasy minis over the years, which I have a fair collection of, and this was actually one of the strongest plus-points of the project for me.
Has GZ released any more casts yet? I can't find the mold of the barbarian posted on HeroQuest.es, and I heard the bookshelf they showed in a video had problems with it? Thanks in advance.
fwiw, A sculptor's website shows renders for HQ and other companies alongside their produced miniatures, so he has enough experience to make proper renders. However, his last HQ updates were in April, and last blog post May. Weird.
That looks absolutely awesome, and a really original style for something like that - nice to see someone trying to do something different to the hammer horror-type vampire that gets killed by Peter Cushing. Hopefully they will be able to pull off the sculpt!
Is it an actual casting or render? The rest of the artist's gallery are all renders. On his 2013 gallery, I'm seeing the chibi mini's that appeared in an Impact Miniatures miniatures KS, so it looks like he knows how to create a render that can become a sculpt. You can see miniatures from his renders on the IM website: http://www.impactminiatures.com/index.php?option=chibi
We saw bins-o-mini's in that slideshow from the GZ presentation awhile back. Let's see the actual mini's!
I was trying to ask when/how/if they're running the rules beta? The site says it should run from sept-oct, and they've lost over a week of that time already. Last time I messaged them on there they were quick in getting back to me, but I can't get the page to work now.
So, they've already got a load of the scenery cast and sitting in boxes from what I can see - that's way more impressive and further along than I'd thought they'd be.
The large volume of stuff we see also tells us they are making production, not just prototypes.
Finished single items in containers but not multiple container by component looks like they are doing a first run of all the backers copies, plus possibly some local extras.
I agree with Chillreaper this looks very promising that at least GameZone are trying to fulfill the ledges received.
Orlanth wrote: As fro the legal stuff, the quotes from the previous page give me fresh hope that I will get my copy in the UK.
If I were in Spain no problems, in the rest of Europe slight worries but diminished enough, in the US I would not be so hopeful.
Another bonus for us Britishers, if distribution outside of Spain does get halted.. depending on where they are being produced in Spain, I would probably hop on a plane to go and get my stuff, it's so damned cheap for the flights.
Might even help with some of the vitamin D deficiency if it is over the winter
Any ideas what the third tiny picture is meant to be?
The completely straight smooth edge to the desk looks a bit out of place, but everything else looks great. Nice to see that they're cracking on with production.
Apparently Gamezone do exactly the same offer with the shipping on their other minis. So I'm sure anyone that has bought from them before will know how/when it happens.
Still scheduled for December 2014 (subject to 3rd parties hitting deadlines) everything produced inhouse in Spain, scenic effects (rock falls, stairway entrance to dungeon, etc.) will be tinited plastic not resin, bases are in transparent plastic, box will be a similar size to the recent Space Hulk release.
The rules will not be available in pdf before release - they are planning some form of presentation to cover the rules but no more details on that yet.
edited highlights (Google translate)
1. To my pleasant surprise, not all the game pieces will be manufactured in polyurethane resin, but scenic effects (rock falls, stairway entrance to dungeon, etc.) and hard bases PLASTIC be high quality, the first tinted and second transparent. I could throw a couple of these pieces on the floor and see how distorted or not at all indentaban after being hit, being light and stiff in hand, and showing a great level of detail. The stands include a discreet logo HQ, it will look when placed on a white background but I think that may be noticeable on a tile color. Yes, I have my doubts about the appearance of transparent bases after several games, which have other manufacturers tend to be scratched easily. But that does not spread the Panrico, if you're not convinced, is as easy as painting.
2. Some traps will not occupy a full tile and the old HQ, but is placed between two cells and activated by passing our unwary heroes. I have seen a pair of prototypes and were simply brutal.
3. The thumbnail wizard was less convinced me all shown to date. After having it in hand, I have to declare myself a founding member of the Fan Club Hon. Mr. Wizard HQ 25th. I've seen some completed and molding process, such as barbarian showed in his last video thumbnails. If I remember correctly, and there has been all the scenery: wardrobes, thrones, lecterns, sarcophagi with their inserts and tombstones (the facelift they have done to the gentleman is to remove his hat), torture racks and more things to remember right now. I have seen the renders before passing through the 3D printer vampire, both lying on his sarcophagus / shrine / whatever as awakened from its slumber with very bad temper. A superb miniatures. Dionisio told me how much she wanted to get realistically simulate a shroud on the above, and I think the effect is very accomplished. I have seen 3D impressions of Heroquest goblins, a little more proportionate and realistic nosed goblin classic we all know and ragged update. You've convinced me, although I understand that others prefer more hyperrealistic or animaloid. The orcs, and in general all the thumbnails in this possible, they have areas on which to fit the hollow ends of the arms, to give greater freedom to assemble and to have more different positions.
4. As happens with so many other fans, my beginnings in this thumbnail back to puberty, so I have experience in working with them. That is why after seeing discarded boxes where they considered defective thumbnails can safely say that Gamezone has some exemplary quality standards for the industry in which we operate, discarding thumbnails with absolutely minimal imperfections. And to top it off, all burrs are removed and fireplaces thumbnails before being packaged, so that the backer absolutely perfect for thumbnails with no extra effort. It is a widespread practice among leading companies in the industry and speaks volumes about the care with which Gamezone works.
5. The dice roll motion and have a much more satisfying aspect (from my perspective) in the 3D images published, who had not finished to convince me. A total of about five rolls two dice, got a hit, so I think we can safely say that meet your goal: you may get a fumble or a success, but unlikely. As the movement has already been completed, combat dice are still in the design process, and will not have anything to envy to those of the old school. They'll be really evocative.
6. The character sheets symbols and numbers are less than those of Descent, with impressive graphics, midway between comic and traditional painting (although pulling over for the second, I would say), like art or Pathfinder but Descent to my taste much better. I did not have too many hopes about it but I've had a pleasant surprise. Discs were told to count points for incorporating health and mind appeared in the prototype I saw, the first on the Right and red and the second to the Left. and blue, if I remember correctly. The printed record corresponded to a "Monster Hunter" African look very cool with a spear like the top of a pine tree, which shows that they are already working on developing the fifteen heroes including levels 2 and 3.
7. I could see the backs of certain letters of treasures, magic, etc., some of which date from the beginning of crowdfunding, and that work continues. I'm sure it will delight all fans, especially the more specialized peers in games. Those who have invested in this project just for this type of material can rest assured, will go without a hitch.
8. Dionisio wants HQ25th box and have a thickness similar to some gothic-futuristic and recently reissued claustrophobic game over. So be prepared. He has also requesting mented generate scripts for rules and missions quality and visually appealing.
9. Although the creative process is performed at home by contracted artists, the entire production of the thumbnails is held in his workshop in Seville, from 3D prototyping and casting masters of metal, to the creation of the resulting molds make the final shot in resin. There is constant feedback between both parties to update and improve the design of the components of the HQ 25th, with a good taste, attention to detail and desire for improvement worthy of mention.
10. All materials and equipment used in this project from the boxes where the thumbnails are stored in the workshop to machine 3D printing, except resin miniatures are of Spanish manufacture, and Gamezone is hiring or creating jobs throughout our country. Without going any further, the workshop had working overtime, a rule of thumb, a thirteen
11. The delivery date of the product remains in December, but Dionisio is aware that third parties hired may have delays and have their own "time-checks" so to speak for some time to predict these delays. 're not everyone nor are those who are: I'm sure I left things in the pipeline, but I do not remember most interesting data right now. If you need to specify in more detail something you just have to tell me.
Thanks Dave. It's a shame about the rules testing, but everything else seems really positive. Only 3 months left before we find out if they can back up all of the talk.
I must say I'm not impressed with how quiet Gamezone have been. If it wasn't for this thread I wouldn't have heard anything since the crowd funding closed. But if everything arrives on time, to the standard they suggest then all of that will be forgiven.
Good, no rules testing means little time for anyone to raise a legal complaint before goods have been shipped.
Gamezone has rights for Spain, but right beyond Spain will be problematic.
I suspect in the end this game will only retail in Spain and countries directly trading with Spain where Hasbro has negligible legal presence. But by the time a legal challenge has been formulated some stock will be on its way, you cant backdate a legal demand so stock in transit at the time of the C&D can be delivered if its correctly timestamped.
So by showing as little as possible until after backers have been shipped to may well preempt any action against backers.
I would not be surprised if the backers goods start to arrive quietly before any official release. The first reviews we might see are our own look at the final product.
GZ has to have the trademark *and* avoid a copyright issue with Hasbro. Moon Designs has a roleplaying game that doesn't have the miniatures, rules, or boardgame that Hasbro's HeroQuest has, so Hasbro hasn't taken legal action against them.
That being said, when Hasbro took legal action against Falomir Games, it was *not* for their HeroCults game, but for other traditional family boardgames. During the time, the Falomir games were on the shelves. So, by the time any Hasbro litigation affects gamers, any alpha gamer who wants HeroQuest either through the KS or retail, should have a copy, except for those in the US because Moon Designs owns the HeroQuest trademark for their HQRPG.
The next question, of course, is the similarities between "HeroQuest" and "HeroQuest Classic". Courts nowadays will make a judgement based on the *whole* of an IP issue, not a specific -- assuming any litigation against GZ actually goes that far. Most of the time (but not with Falomir), "Confusing similarity" *is* a test used to determine if one trademark infringes upon another.
I don't think US customers are in the clear, and protectionism will raise its ugly head if/when Hasbro makes a move. Hasbro is a US company, as is Moon Design, Gamezone is not. I do not trust the US legal system to be impartial, especially not in corporate cases.
I think your best shot is for US backers to have thier good in the post before an official release date so that any attempt to intercept delivery counts as a backdated action and thus illegal.
I am happy with the way Gamezone has handle this for the same reasons others are unhappy. Moon Desiogn was asking for documentation and clarification, and Gamezone stalled them. Clarification is good for Moon Designs case, but does nothing for Gamezone. Best to say nothing,
Personally I think the chances of repeat sale to the USD will be very limited, likewise Gamzone is a Spanish company operating in Spain with a Spanish license, and the Spanish are even more territorial when it comes to their industry than the Americans are. I think Hasbro will know better than to try and pursue Gamezone in the Spanish or EU courts system.
Hence why Moon Design tried scare tactics instead and threatened to come after customers, which is fething low.of them. Moon Design is not actually affected by this there have always been two families of HeroQuest products, their RPG and the totally separate boardgame. With the RPG being vapour since the 80's.
Anyway the EU licence means that UK customers are now firmly in the clear, as before only Spanish customers had tat level of protection. US customers still have cause for worry, but I am hopeful that Gamezone are savvy enough to find a way to get your product to you.
Gamezone have been accused of incompetence for their lack of material provision for their case, but they are done the corporate equivalent of pleading the fifth, and saying nothing is generally a good idea, some would say always.
It must be frustrating for Moon Design trying to sucker Gamezone into revealing info that could harm themselves, only to fail. I wonder if this is why their spokesman who appeared on BoardGameGeek threatened backers.
I hope you are right there Orlanth. Although, speaking altruistically I hope that this game can go on beyond just the KS backers and get some kind of general release - if it really is good (and the talk so far has been very encouraging) it would be a real shame for the goods to be locked away.
Once again though many thanks DaveC for bringing the news over here.
I will be very surprised indeed if anyone manages to prohibit sales from/in Spain. So a general release will likely be available, if not so easily distributable.
Pacific wrote: Believe HQ25 is meant to be shown this weekend coming at Essen Spiel, don't suppose anyone is attending or knows of news surrounding the event?
Done intermittent websearches over the last few days, not heard a peep.
Someone might have news to upload later, or maybe not.
Reds8n posted a link in the N&R section of photos from the event. There are some 60-odd boardgames there but HQ25 isn't featured.
I suppose it doesn't necessarily mean that they didn't show, it might just be that they had a very minimal presence or the blogger may have missed them.
Does anyone have access to the Spanish Gamezone site to see if there has been any mention on there?
ced1106 wrote: And what about the September / October alpha (?) rules?
According to DaveC's post in the last page, they won't be able to to the rules beta because they're pushed for time and want to do everything they can to still hit the December deadline.
There still hasn't been any official message from GZ about it (or anything else) though
GZ say that the production is almost finished and they expect to get the final components around the middle of december.
They will start to pack and send the game to backers after this. Shipping end of December but more likely January. Even if they start shipping before Christmas they will break for Christmas.
They say that they will send first to the foreign backers in order to compensate traveling time so everyone get their game around the same time.
About the rules GZ say that they will post a video no later than 14 november. The video will include finished miniatures.
From Werty on heroquest.es
Beta rules have provided video shows the beta of the rules. The idea is to make short videos (a couple of minutes or as appropriate) to address a specific issue of the rules. They planned to take about 20 chapters published (ideally) weekly.
There will be a "Heroic Rules" which include (without expansion)
Heroic / dire Letters
Primordial Magic
Rear of modular board
Others
In the videos
DISPLAYED IS FINISHED MINIATURES and how the dice and boards.
On the box: The idea is that the box is high, very high, so that it fits ALL that includes the game, extras included. Since everyone has called different things, they have chosen to put protective foam in the box so that each element is in place. The foam will (unless alternative plans that may be) of the top of this photo: Apparently the box will take you a shrink seal, even that was a vague reference and I can not confirm 100%, would not be nothing illogical.
About the time: some items are waiting in mid-December, but are likely to be able to ship to packing and then. Obviously they will stop during the holidays and will resume after these IF HAVE NOT FINISH BEFORE PROCESSING SHIPMENTS .
On shipments: If logistically may, intend sent first to the farthest points (abroad), then the people and finally to large populations. Thus those who take longer if I will receive packets in transit before delivery so that, ideally, more simultaneous reception possible and whatever that large populations receive it first. courier services often make the evening collection and delivery in the morning, it would be logical to think that every day in the afternoon were to pick them up packages that have closed this morning and late in the previous afternoon. Shipping will be prioritized founders rather than stores. Do not care about delay Christmas season. It argues that the shops have closed and orders for these dates and they are out, that even the HQ25 late for stores to be bought as a gift, an important part of your target audience sees increased buying power at that time and can spend it on subsequent months. recepcionado Store still have not developed a list of stores likely to offer this service and admit failure on their part about it. They are planning the possibility that store pickup NOT assume SAVING THE FOUNDER, which will also have to pay the postage, but some compensation in the form of a gift (card, miniature, etc.), so that the founder compensate you navigate the home. All this is in the planning stage, there is nothing definitive.
Their plan seems to be that another version of the game will go to retail, although as far as I can see, the only difference between these versions is the names ("Heroquest 25th anniversary edition" and "Heroquest classic" iirc).
There seems to be a massive question mark over where this will be able to be sold though, due to several different parties having different copyrights and trademarks in different regions. But if everything DOES goes according to Gamezone's plan, I imagine you'd be able to ship a copy over from a retailer in Spain even if it doesn't go on sale in the Americas.
Not really any updates, but have done some reading on the Heroquest.es forum
- No mention of the video DaveC has talked about above
- There were some rules leaked online a few weeks ago on Scribd, immediately removed. No idea at all if they are genuine (although most people on the forum there seem to think so)
- Some members of the forum there have started a change.org petition to have GZ communicate officially on the status of the project. There have been some comments from people related to GZ on FB pages and the like, but nothing official.
No great surprise that the 14th came and went without an update. I saw the rules leak the other day and I downloaded a copy but as they are in Spanish and the status and source is unknown I figured I'd just leave it be.
Not sure the petition will do much good but better than nothing I guess.
Here's the google translation for anyone thats interested, sorry for the massive wall of text. Now to try and make sense of it all

4.11 The hexagonal bases given not provide a numerical result thus can not be added movement. Their behavior is different and is explained below.
4.12 One result of HQ can get to figure their maximum movement allowed. If the another as a result of a lateral face is not the result of the total movement obtained is added.
4.13 If the result is double HQ then the player gets the maximum movement allowed for hero and also get a "fancy stuff". Which, during that turn, may mean the possibility of avoid the first trap that is free to ignore or attack an enemy of your choice to move adjacent to it.
A result of 4.14? is considered a blunder or uncertain result of movement. If you get one? and in the other as the result of movement of 1 to 3, then you will push once; if the result is 4 to 6 You will push twice.
4.15 Pushing means if you spend another friendly figure adjacent to the Wicked Witch can move a box that hero. If you pass adjacent simultaneously to more than one friend, decide on what MB figure applies the push. If you push twice, the above rule is applied twice in different boxes motion or it can use the MB on the same box if more than one adjacent friend.

The results? indicate a blunder, if there any friendly figure adjacent to the target figure, then the action of shooting and the result of Dice are used against it as if it were the goal. If no friendly figure that since then has no effect. If it takes more than one result? MB choose any figure in the line of sight pitcher and applies the dice roll against it. In either of these cases are interpreted the results like a skull in order to resolve the shot.

THE [move here]
RULE 18. "THE ERROR ALSO PLAYING"
18.1 "The error also plays" means several things. For starters if you state that you do not like something You can roll back, you must. If you could not do it or you get nothing, then, the error also plays.
18.2 If you move your figure to a square and allowed desdecirte passable and can not change your movement. Is not rectified, the error also plays.
18.3 If you throw the dice combat without declaring who shall be the Wicked Witch to decide who will led the attack, the error also plays.
18.4 If you do something and it goes wrong or you can not, you can not turn back, the error also plays.
18.5 If you declare an action that can not be made with an antagonist that is adjacent to and the case, as you lose the action, you were wrong, the error also plays.
18.6 If at the beginning of an adventure hero carries more items than its capacity allows load, the MB can decide which removed and set aside (to the next venture) for the ability of load become functional.
18.7 In case of any complaint on your part, the Wicked Witch will say "error also plays" and no more discussion.
18.8 And yes, of course the error rule applies also plays the MB.
18.9 Whenever the regulations mention half of the movement dice or half done or the like refers to the exact middle and if not calculated to fulfill downward.
19. WICKED WITCH.
● 19.1 MB not choose for yourself spell cards at the beginning of the adventure. If during of it, the figure of an antagonist character with magical ability are placed right in MB catch that moment the letters that correspond to the same manner as is done in magical rounds, shuffling them face down ● 19.2 You should check at the beginning of each adventure adventurers do not carry more items their capacity allows. If you carry more, "the error also plays" and will be the MB decide what to cut away the excess.
20. Finally, if a strange situation that could not be occurred in the course of the game resolved with these rules, apelad to your common sense and give a simple, logical solution consensus as possible. Remember: this is a game and is done for fun.
So that's the end of the basic rules. As far as I can see they aren't too different from the US rules from the original game. A little more complexity around attack and defence (although that may just be because of the translation). And I think the ranged attacking rules are different, but I can't recall the original rules off the top of my head.
So these are the extra rules that (as far as I can tell) require the "heroic" and "fateful" cards that were stretch goals. As advised in the first part, they add to the complexity so are suggested only for people that have played before.
RULES heroic
R. H. 1 CAPACITY.
R. H. 1.1 Objects and equipment are purchased, are granted by the MB or obtained in the development of the adventures, they will always carry that you can physically carry. to represent this, each character has a load capacity in your character sheet, determined by a number Symbol inside a backpack. In turn, each object has a cost of loading stated in his letter, being also a figure in a backpack.
R. H. 1.2 If the capacity of an adventurous equals load the costs of the objects leads, all actions are performed by half, all dice that are available can have half of them.
R. H. 1.3 If the objects that leads an adventurous add twice the amount of capacity, then it does not move, and can not use any dice.
R. H. 2 GUNS TWO HANDS.
A two-handed weapon does not allow use of any other weapon at a time or any kind of shield or utility has to wield or in connection with active hands. The great weapon allows you to attack any adjacent figure, including those that are in diagonal.
Sweeping. Once chosen the figure attacked if any HQ result occurs, it can be exchanged for a new attack (unless given) to an adjacent turn attacked both the figure and the figure attacker.
Collateral Damage. If a result occurs? scanning the same effect would be produced, but in this only chance against a friendly figure adjacent to at least the figure performing the scan. the figure is chosen by the MB.
R. H. 3 DEVELOPMENT / EXPERIENCE. Pros vs Cons, defects vs virtues. [This should be a rule optional and perhaps more here it should be as a rule the fatal letters and heroic, how obtained, how they play and what they do] [eye, experience is not the same as knowledge or training] [This section should profoundly revise] The different experiences of the characters and their adventures will progress option to obtain:
● Benefits and Impediments. ● Given Exceptional (almost like training, given the will and other physically colour, you can not use more than one shot) ● Letters Heroic, random at the beginning of each adventure, cards used and discarded.
A player will gain experience and knowledge as well as perform missions by situations experienced. This will translate into resources available to them, either in ballast to his regret, that will play a role in the games, represented by different effects.
Each time a player takes twice ?? HQ or twice in a movement roll, this will force to make a run at the "table" PROS CONS DISABILITY BENEFITS or at the end of item, for each double result, and apply the result to your tab control before start the next adventure.
[acquire benefits and impediments, which are permanent, as opposed to the heroic letters or dire that are chosen randomly at the beginning of each adventure]
IMPAIRED TARE: ● COWARDICE: receiving the 1st wound may flee or seek disengage instead of staying in the combat, is overcome and forced to flee if the player does not like it or you will go wrong. ● TRUE cowardice to receive the 2nd wound may flee or seek instead unlocked remain in combat, is overcome and forced to flee if the player does not want or will come evil. ● CHARLATAN: stops to tell war or insult the enemy in combat or worse situations it should lose by sloppy defense dice. ● GRESCA / animus: [Make it some kind of rule that they can not be adjacent barbarous and barbaric because otherwise they would be fighting? And another, if this becomes impairment must be some kind of standard to establish to what or whom, including other heroes] FEAR:
ADVANTAGES VIRTUES / SKILL: ● COLD BLOOD: FEAR will not. ● FIRM PULSE: You can use a trigger action even if an enemy in box adjacent. ● ACCURATE: adds a given combat action shooting. ● THROWING DEADLY: each point of life that otherwise dispose of doubles. ● ELUSIVE projectile: ● HARD TARGET: you can use half your natural defense points (in black) in the missile defense. ● REFLECTIONS: Can defend given by the first attack accoutrements when granting leave a blunder. ● ELUSIVE / FINTA: Applies defense dice against the first enemy HQ as melee, no missile. ● AGUANTE: allows discarding the first result directly adverse skull [review name] ● MULTIPLE ATTACK: If wielding two weapons may use both, one after the other, in a same attack action. You can not use two-handed weapons with this advantage. ● ONSLAUGHT: during movement, when entering the combat zone of an enemy can deciding embestirle, whereby upon movement a match occurs, that regardless of the outcome thereof, it will displace the enemy figure a box in the figure opposite direction attacking him. The figure will occupy attacks Anyway the box is empty. ● GUERRERO: allow you to go through various combat zones without having the obligation to stop. Though he will receive the appropriate accoutrements against attack by leaving each zone combat.
BENEFITS OF MOVEMENT ● fancy stuff +1 to a dice roll motion. ● real magic +2 to roll dice to move. ● You can choose to start the first inning.
MOVEMENT IMPAIRED ● Injury, -1 to all rolls move in the next game. ● Serious injury, -2 to all rolls movement in his next game.
Regarding combat dice, each time a player takes a score of double or triple? you must make a roll on the table LASTRES / IMPAIRED. Similarly a player obtaining a result of double or triple HQ must make a roll on the table ADVANTAGES. Both groups may be temporary or permanent. [look over]
If a character reaches 0 points of life as a result of an attack, it will acquire an aversion to the type creature that put him in that situation, becoming an almost permanent impairment. Another possible option is that [review]
R. H. 4 PRIMARY SPELLS.
At the beginning of the adventure, a character with magical ability may decide to redeem 2 cards spell elementary that correspond to 1 letter primordial spell, three cards must be the same element. This decision is made before stealing the two decide to exchange letters.
R. H. 5 COMBAT ZONE.
Adjacent squares of a figure which can attack are considered the combat zone. Yes while moving a figure enters a combat zone of another enemy model, then must stop, even if you remain still points that move action available.
R. H. 6 UNLOCK.
If the start of the turn and you're in a combat zone of an enemy, you can leave a move action, but destrabarte receive an extra attack against a single die combat, you can not oppose a free-defense. This extra attack against it will receive for each enemy figure to project their combat zone to a square.
R. H. LETTERS July heroic and deadly.
If in the course of an adventure a player gets a score on a double roll HQ, then You can steal a random Heroic Charter. You have the option to use it immediately or save for later use. This card can only be saved until the end of the adventure underway.
At any time a player adventure may use a Heroic Charter already in your Always able to get on a roll at least one HQ result. If you choose to use the card, the die with HQ result has allowed this use is lost, ie, will have no effect because its use is redeemed by the effect of the letter.
When players take out a roll of the dice in a double ?? then draws a random MB Funesta Charter. He can use immediately or save it for later use only in the During that same adventure.
The MB can play one Funesta Charter already in his possession when in one of his runs for at least one HQ (is exchanged in the same manner as that cited above). You can also play immediately fatal letter when one player wins at least one result? in one of his runs.
The effects of the Heroic and Dire cards are immediate and once you play must apply If any inconsistency occurs because you can not perform its effect at the time of departure, therefore we refer to Rule 18.
[if no cards in the deck heroic unused, then names the letter you want loud and player who has the need to give it]
[access to heroic it should also have letters from them to get certain achievement in an adventure, or overcoming combat, a game without blunders and more. EVEN more like this criteria to also obtain advantages or impediments]]
LETTERS dire: ● DO IT AGAIN: ● SLAMMED: ● ABRACAPLUF: ● Countermagic: ● cluelessness: ● ACCURATE SHOOTING: ● CURRENT / DELIVERY: ● SLIP: ● looted !: ● SE TE FUE LA MANO:
R. H. 8 O. EVIL Witch
If a game is no more than four players, the MB randomly draws an ominous letter to top game by each player over four.
R. H. September
I like the limits they've put on the amount of gear each character can carry, it will mean more decision making and forward planning for the hero players. The combat zone thing sounds like it could be brutal, being forced to fight if you go near an enemy and having to take an undefendable hit if you want to try and flee. Beyond that I'm struggling to make sense of the translation and the layout isn't too clear.
The GZ ruleset basic rules is similar to Hasbro's HeroQuest, but not the same. The GZ heroic rules are not the same. GZ uses different dice than Hasbro.
Aside from the barbarian, elf, wizard, dwarf, and generic monsters, GZ has changed or added NPCs and monsters.
Miniatures are different sculpts. The boardgame dungeon has a slightly different layout. While the quests are not known, stretch goal figures suggest different quests.
The least flameworthy definition I would call GZ's HQ is an "unofficial sequel". I personally think there are enough changes to avoid copyright issues, and Hasbro let the trademark expire. If HQ25 uses the same box cover and logo in the packaging that they showed in the KS, they still risk trade dress infringement.
I wouldn't go as far as to say people won't be getting HeroQuest. As far as I can see, despite being astheticly different, the dice serve the exact same purpose.
The updating of all of the minatures is to be expected, as cool as the original game is, I wouldn't shell out for new copies of 25 year old minatures I already have. And (assuming they look half as good as the renders irl) the new ones are beautifully designed. The same with the quests, the board is so similar that you'll be easily able to play the old missions on the new board, so repeating them would be redundant.
As long as the rules are recognisable, which in my opinion (assuming this leak is legit) these are, I'd still see it as being the same game. And if the worst comes to the worst you could still use all the new stuff with the old rules. It just gives you (more than) double the number of options. And if you don't get on with the heroic rules, it seems to have been designed to be completely optional.
In my eyes, being made by hasbro and games workshop isn't what defines HeroQuest, The asthetics of the game and the style of play do. Using the small amount of info we have, it looks like that is what Gamezone will be providing. Ymmv though obviously :p
I would be happier if the rules were no the same as Heroquest frankly. That game was grossly simplified for a kids market. I would be hoping for more game substance to go with the miniatures we are forking out for.
The inclusion of advanced rules provide that promise, and I have 0% problem with their being as basic version accessible to all. That being said they could ship without rules, I am still buying, the miniatures are awesome and will restock me for D&D 5e, with help from some stuff from Mantic.

I paid the shipping used the voucher etc. All some time ago.
However a check up on my account just now to look at what add-ons I might buy revealed this:

Order history
Here are the orders you have placed since the creation of your account.
You have not placed any orders.
Now the order was logged on the order history before, just jkust not showing now. No emails, no nothing.
I sent an email to Gamezone asking for clarification, but with the company not being ones to respond (I sent an earlier question at the time I ordered, with no reply received) I am not happy until I find an alternate measn of contacting them.
It would also help to know if anyone else has a similar experience. Do your orders still show up on order history? It might be wise to check for your own purposes.
Orlanth, I just checked my order history and its still showing up. I screen shotted it as well just incase it goes AWOL, thanks for the heads up though. I've contacted them before and did eventually get a response, it took a long time though (2 weeks + if I remember correctly).
just trawled through my inbox and their reply was sent from:
Official update! it seems to confirm that the leaked rules are an actual draft of the real rules.
EDIT a poster from Heroquest.es got to speak to GZ and they confirm this draft is real but is from the Spring time rules are now fully finshed and awaiting illustrations.
Rules Videos in next few days. There should be weekly updates in future as the webpage manager has been given to go ahead to reveal stuff now.
Rumour is the box won't be printed until next February.
Mentor Progress Report,
We know. Long time and I expect to hear from us more than we need an explanation. For better or worse, our policy has always been from the beginning to focus on the work you confiasteis us create the commemorative edition to celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of the best dungeon crawler in the history of the games.
When in November 2013 assured that the time window we had for the project was close, but still we could have the game ready for Christmas 2014, perhaps naive sin to estimate how close it really was. The problems we face did not help Kickstarter and dragging already if an initial one-month delay to the relaunch of our crowdfunding campaign, we dive head first into a project not without difficulties.
Believe me when I say that we did our best to adjust our roadmap and meet the timetable promised. We disclaim summer escape hell of Seville and skipped the holidays, but many gears, many pieces that have to fit, and are not willing to rush affect the quality . We want a product that is truly special, and if we have to miss a promise, we prefer to be one that you may have as soon forget the game at home and open your box.
No, unfortunately we will not be able to arrive in time for Christmas. The project is progressing smoothly and we are actually in the final sprint, but despite much we (and believe us, not make us any grace skip the Christmas season) is precisely now that we have to walk on eggshells taking care of all the latest details material production of our (your) HeroQuest.
We prefer not to give dates, but instead we will offer you a detailed picture of the current status of the project that we will be holding the next day, and now, frequent updates:
As you can see, the basic rule is completely ready (a leaked draft is spring) and (advanced) rules heroic walk not far from it too. The adventures are really advanced, and working with gradient is more literary than functional. As for the miniatures and scenery, we have almost finished and we have warehouse at the top of boxes waiting for their final home game in each.
The illustrators are working overtime, putting the finishing touches to images that already had to stay fully satisfied and not completing the layout for the regulation and adventure books beginning. Printing and of course the handling and shipping are at 0%, but given that we remain committed to working with companies in the country, once start time will be very fast.
Do you have to wait long to hear from us again. In a few days we will begin to post videos explaining the main aspects of the rules so, Resist! The wait will be worth it.
Yes hopefully now we will have more regular updates; although realistically I'm not expecting any miniatures in my hands for at least another 2 or 3 months.
Sorry, by system failure we have no record of your order. Tell us what date you made payment and method of payment (paypal, credit card) or send proof of payment to info@gamezoneminiatures.com, for verification.
And sorry for this confusion and any inconvenience.
Thank you for your support.
Hasta pronto

So there was a system failure.
I thought it wise to inform all you of this Some have checked their accounts and their backer status is ok, so it hasnt happend to everyone but it may have happened to you. I suggest all Dakka backers check their accounts if they havent already.
Agree, those skeletons look very nice. The terrain also, love the prisoner chained to the wall terrain piece!
Very heartening that these videos have come along, although these damned Europeans drinking expressos before doing the camera shoot and holding the miniatures!
Thats some ridiculously over exaggerated cleavage on the prisoner in video 16 Loving the Huntress model though, it's just like the 3d render, and I thought that was brilliant.
D'you reckon that the gobbo's have been cast in green resin/plastic? Or are these just green stuff versions that will be used in creating the moulds? scratch that, It is resin, looks like the skellies are cream coloured, so they must be using the same colour for the monsters as they did in the original version. The Hero's being grey rather than red just threw me off a bit
These are actual production miniatures so it looks like light green for orcs and goblins and bone for skeletons with heroes and furniture in light grey. Those clear plastic bases are the actual bass supplied as well.
Apparently all of the miniatures shown came from the reject pile and contain imperfections or miscolourations that GZ weren't happy with. Good to hear as I noticed some mold slip on one or 2 like the huntress.
They've uploaded a 10 minute long interview, it's obviously in Spanish though. I'll have a trawl on heroquest.es to see if i can find a transcript or at least an idea of what they're talking about
Just ... wow, I could not be more happy with how these have turned out.
DaveC, do you have it confirmed that these are the actual miniatures? If so, I'm stunned by the quality of the casts. These look like a level above the likes of Descent/D&D etc.

Many thanks for bringing the info here guys
These are actual approved models, but rejected minis with imperfections.
I can very easily see the "horde" minis to be sold separately in groups like the ones already sold by Gamezone.
Spoiler:
[spoiler]
This is 25,50 € for 30 minis.
Orcs, goblins, zombies and especially skeletons (my favourite so far) would be a nice alternative for building large and cheap units!
Looking at these previews, I've decided that Gamezone is a front for a super secret division running Corvus Belli's black ops miniature games department.
It's the only theory that explains the detail that these guys are managing to achieve!

I agree, I'm very pleasantly surprised by how good some of these have turned out.
But then again Gamezone have always had some cracking sculptors working for them, so perhaps I shouldn't be that surprised!
Barbarian scale comparison video - includes the original HQ one. Slightly worrying that he doesn't fit on his base I wonder if he'll get a special sized base, I guess some of the larger minis might have larger bases anyway.
His orginal concept had the barbarian with one foot off his base. By incorporating the base directly into the miniature the model is breaking the fourth wall a bit, but he is a barbarian and doesn't give a feth. I think its very characterful, this guy will not be constrained by his base because he of who he is.
It does look really weird being so much bigger than the base, I didn't think it was that noticeable in the render. Hopefully it won't get in the way moving it around other models and scenery.
Ever wanted to watch someone roll dice for 15 minutes? joking aside the rolls look good and random and the dice land on the special ends more than I would have thought.
I'm deeply impressed again by the level of detail on show here. I already thought highly of the Descent miniatures, for a board game they are excellent and I've enjoyed painting them. But, the HQ25 miniatures definitely look superior in terms of crispness of detail.
And the comparison to the old minis definitely shows how things have come on over the years!
Wow, you can tell those are GZ miniatures just by looking at them - really similar to some of their existing, OTT style in the rest of their Orc range (although with some differences so not sure if this is the same sculptor?)
And you can see what an anxious wait there has been for HQ25, this guy has bitten his fingernails away to almost nothing!
Just checked am getting 404 also. I strongly suspect a DDOS attack like they had this time last year.
It is getting very close to the orignal shipping date 9though the game is no where neasr ready yet) they got hacked before. It might be by the same misguided asshats as before, whether randomly for lulz or in revenge because Gamezone bypassed the previous shutdown attempts via Kickstarter.
I looked at the Lanzanos site, its very slow, but up. If they are hacked Gamezone will post there soon.
They've just posted the video to show the 5th and 6th Orc models
Spoiler:
So as Orlanth said, I'd suspect it's just another round of ddos-ing. I can't imagine they'd finally have got into the habit of regularly posting updates if anything fishy was occurring.
More news, although I'm struggling to make sense of the youtube video
The game is now listed for retail on a Spanish webstore HERE.
There seem to be two different versions: Evil Wizard and Good Wizard, both of which include their own exclusive mini.
Here's the translation of the evil wizard set:

However the Heroquest site has the following message:

Rumour from the Heroquest Classic facebook page that the English Translation hasn't been done yet and probably won't be before the game ships (or at least that's how I interpret a dodgy Google translation)
- Translations into English: know the reason why the latest game have not been translated into English. Lack of time may indeed believe that Gamezone should put the batteries with all its patrons and after they announced that the game would be in several languages.
I'm not really surprised given they have given up on translating what little they do post.
"Ponerse las pilas" or "Put on the batteries to self" is a spanish slang for "hurry up" or "work harder"
I'll try to summarize:
DISCLAIMER: I'm not a backer, and know almost nothing about this game. Just happen to speak spanish and want to help out.
* They are only a fan page and have no real communication with Gamezone
* All they know comes from third-parties
* There is no official release date. They've talked with E-Minis (the distributor in Spain?)and were told it shouldn't take longer than March.
* About the website being down: Again, no official response about this, but this is not the first time this has happened, it is said that it may have something to do with hackers' attack. gamezoneminiatures.com is still up.
* On Nov 21, gamezone said that they would start uploading videos about the game's rules (tutorials?). They have released no video since then.
* No official response about expired vouchers too.
* They do not know why the last news were not translted to english. it should be lack of time, but they think that Gamezone should work harder on that, specially after they announced the game would be released in many languages.
Just saw that crisis over (stupid Google Translate translating it as game) the translation part only relates to recent updates not the rules. This is what happens when you don't put out official updates people are left to find scraps of information that may or may not be accurate (or well translated)
The batteries thing has been explained too
Put on your batteries = literal translation of "Ponte las pilas" = Get cracking.
Another video, this time showing the doors. No demonstration of them opening/closing but you see a close up of the closed door and can see the open frame on the desk in the background.
I hope they remember to include doors of different sizes. There are a lot of large monsters in the release, though some like the mole troll will not require doors.
I would like to see one or two double doors, it shouldn't effect the game much.
I'm sure they'd have said already if they were planning on producing double doors.
There's the normal doors, ruined outside doors and the open & closed portcullis though. The two styles of doors seem to be about the same size, but based on the artwork, the portcullis seems wider
New video this time of the visit to the Gamezone factory. The video confirms at least that the miniatures from the base game are finished production and that Undead are bone coloured and O&G green with the rest in grey. There are one or two in red/orange but they look like prints from the 3D printing machine.
Spoiler:
The update from November 25th has now been translated to English (better late than never I guess still no rules videos though ) - http://www.heroquestclassic.com/news/
We know it. Long time ago you’ve been waiting for news about us and we owe you more than an explanation. For better or for worse, our policy has always been from the very beginning to be focused on the creation of the commemorative 25th anniversary edition of one of the best dungeon crawler boardgames in history.
When in November 2013 we told you that we had little time to fulfill de project, but still we could have the game ready for Christmas 2014, we really didn’t know how many problems we’d have to face. Everything started with kickstarter, which delayed the project a whole month until the relaunch of our crowdfunding.
Believe me when I tell you that we did everything we could to adjust and keep the schedules to avoid further delays. We even gave up our holidays, but there are still many pieces of the puzzle that have to fit, and we are not willing to let haste to affect quality. We want this product to be really special, and if we have to miss a promise, we prefer it to be one which you’ll forget as soon as you’ve got your game at home.
No, unfortunately we won’t make it for Christmas. The project is operating in a smooth manner and we’re really on the final sprint, but as hard as this is for us (and believe us, we are less than enthusiastic to let Christmas season go) it’s precisely now when we must walk a fine line, taking care of the last details on the production of your HeroQuest materials.
It is still not possible, however, to give any date for when everything will be ready, but instead we are going to offer you an image of the project’s current status, which will be kept up to date in our next frequent updates:
Progress
As you can see, the basic rule book and the heroic rule book are almost finished. The adventures are really advanced, and the remaining job is mainly literary. Regarding the miniatures and scenography, they are practically completed by now and we have the warehouse filled with boxes waiting for the game to be finished.
The illustrators are flating out, finishing the illustrations until they’re completely satisfied for the rules and adventure book layout to be started. The printing and of course de handling and sending are at 0%, but as we’re committed to working with companies within the national territory, once we’re started everything will move very quickly.
You won’t have to wait for too long to hear about us. In a few days we’ll start publishing some videos about the main aspects of the rules so… Resist! The waiting will be well worth it
Nothing new exactly, but a painfully long video of one of the gobbo's being painted has been posted on youtube.
If you fancy spending an hour watching a Spanish dude natter away and paint a mini then feel free to watch it all, but the finished thing is at 1h 3m 48s
Having a look over some of the Spanish forums, it seems a fair few people have been emailing Gamezone as there hasn't been an official update about the state of the project in two months.
Most interesting comment I could find (it seems that lots of people were getting this response), courtesy of Google translate:
"Good morning, I wanted to ask you about the current state of the project Heroquest 25th From the official website no news since November 21.... For Please and request an explanation and an official statement. Thank you for your attention Greetings " And I (they?) replied very quickly: " I understand your concern. My fellow updates are behind, but try to give an update with explanations for the delay, upload expected soon. I will pass to Dionisio your request. Thank you and goodbye. Isabel " So no, a very quick and polite response, and little else. .. I hope that count for something
Otherwise there is just a lot of discussion about the number of doors in the set, and whether it will be enough..

If you find any problem, please don’t hesitate to contact us. You bakers are our highest priority and we’re really looking forward for you to be the first to enjoy HeroQuest 25th anniversary.
But more interestingly.....
While we’re finalizing the first video about the rules (we’re really stuck on it, but we’d like to use final components) we have another new for the ones who missed our Lánzanos crowdfunding campaign and want to get the 25th anniversary edition of the game.
You can find in our online store the preorder of this HeroQuest limited edition, which we hope we’ll be able to start sending along with the ones from the backers this spring. With a price of 110€, it is exactly the same box as the first level of the campaign except for the absence of the special FOUNDER logo, and it will be as exclusive as this one; when stocks run out, it will be over. No more editions like this one will be produced and we’ll start commercializing the standard version of the game, which will be known as HeroQuest Classic.
The preorder also includes as a gift an extra miniature to choose from the wizards Zargon and Morcar. Shortly you’ll be able to get them in our online store along with any rewards from the campaign (from the additional miniatures to the modular board tiles, heroic cards or quest book volume II) and other new ones which we have planned for our sculptors when they’re available. Did anyone mentioned Fire, Water, Earth and Air elementals?
Remember that Heroquest 25th anniversary will be published in Spanish, English, French, German, Italian and Portuguese (These last two will be only available under request) with all the printed content (rules, cards and adventures) translated for each language. besides our online store, you can also turn to e-Minis, our official distributor in Spain, or any of our international distributors to preorder the game or to ensure units for stores. You’ll get the gift miniature included in the pre-sale in either case.

Frequently Asked Questions
Mentor Gift vouchers, Heroquest Store,
Every day we receive tons of mails, and although we try to answer each one as soon as possible, I think it’s time to offer you a new list of frequent questions and answers to solve the most common of them all…
DISCOUNT VOUCHERS
Are the shipping costs becoming a discount voucher for future purchases?
Exactly, as is the case with the rest of the products from Gamezone Miniatures Store, the cost of shipping becomes a voucher that you can discount from the total of your next purchase (which shipping will become a new voucher, and so on). The idea is that shipping doesn’t affect you anyway.
Where are you going to put the discount voucher? in the box next to the game?
It isn´t a physical voucher, but an electronic one, which will be added to your account in Gamezone miniatures online store, more specifically in the section My vouchers of the website.
When will I be able to use my Heroquest discount voucher?
During the official release of the game, following the opening of a new section of our online store with all the stretch goals from the Heroquest 25th Anniversary campaign and other new features.
ORDERS
I have already done the bank transfer but my order still appears as pending.
Bank transfers usually take time to clear and are not immediate. The order changes to paid when we receive the confirmation from our bank. It’s also really important not to forget to add the order number we give you when you complete your transfer, to make things faster.
How will be the orders processed?
Although we are producing the backer’s and the pre-sale copies at the same time, backers will be first to be shipped. When they ‘re finished, the rest will follow, including those backers who haven´t done their orders before February 28th (that’s why we insist on it so much).
BACKERS
What’s the limit of characters that I can use in my “inscriptions”?
We really don’t know when the sentence “All these copies will be numbered and the name you choose will be printed inside” became “the inscription” everybody talks about in your emails. To date we have received all kind of requests to customize your copies and we have never refused any of them, except those ones which are too long or that may be offensive. Nor are celebrity names, except when you truly are Definitely, we reserve the right to refuse any message that we could find unsuitable, but in the 99% of the cases you shouldn’t have any problem.
I’ve ordered more than 1 box and I want to customize each one in a different way. How can I distinguish them?
Imagine you ordered a level 1 and a level 3 box. It’s simple. When you confirm your order in our online store, please fill in the “Leave a message” field with the name, nickname or message you want to customize each of your backer copies with, this way:
– Level 1 Message: “Roddy McClacker”
– Level 3 Message: “A game to rule them all”
When you receive your order, each game will be identified in the outside with a label, so you won’t have any problem, for example, if you got a copie for you and another one for a friend.
COMPONENTS
How many doors does the game include?
This was a failure on our part. When we say that the box contains 18 doors and 4 closed doors, is that there are 18 door frames and 4 doors. You can place a door frame and a door to get a close door.
How many miniature bases does the game include?
One for each miniature that needs them. If you still want more, you can always buy them in our online store next to a wide range of components that we are going to provide independently (miniatures, dices, bases…)
What will be the size of the Heroquest 25th anniversary box? where will be placed the rewards unlocked during the level 3 campaign for backers?
The size of the 25th anniversary edition (level 1) and the one from Lánzanos campaign (level 3) will be 57 x 49 cm, but the second one will differ in hight, for all the extras to fit in the box. We already told you that it was going to be special and unique, didn’t we?
That’s all for today, we hope that we’ve cleared up some of your issues. See you soon!
Another new video! Not the rules as I would have hoped, but a prototype piece of scenery.
Spoiler:
I hope this is an old piece that they have only just got their hands on, because it seems a little late in the day to still be knocking out prototypes. Who knows.
Angel Giraldez did a 'wet t-shirt' look for one of the new miniatures he has painted - I'm hoping there will be a guide for it in his new painting book, as I'm sure you could extrapolate a similar technique to a thinly-veiled banshee
As she is a vampire its made easier for you, she can have pale grey flesh rather than usual flesh tones, this will make the shading easier.
Do the google search 'Brides of Dracula' and select images.
The Vampire bride meme is almost certainly the source here, some are natural coloured girls in bridal shrouds, others are very pale. Pale looks better IMHO and is easier here.
Here is why I will try:
1. White undercoat
2. Thinned down layer of grey over the body including the areas coverdd by the shroud.
3. Drybrush shroud white.
4. Very thin inking on shroud and shades.
5. Dryblush exposed flesh with mixture of flesh and white, Strongest near cheeks?
6. Hair colour in strong contrast, probably black. As black is a hard colour to do I might do grey 'Vampirella' highlights.
7. Ruby lips
8. Dark mouth cavity black with just a hint of red and gloss white fangs.
9. Grey/pink/purple tongue.
10. No blood smear, its too hard to get right on a miniature like this.
11. Blood red roses? or Bridal white roses? for the floral crown. Both would work. Wilted roses would also be awesome, but hard to get right.
I think red roses with black hair and white roses for a blonde.
However I am an amateur painter, so a second opinion most welcome.
Nice to see it swivels, it looks wrong though. The beam of the pendulum should be of modifiable length so that as it swings it descends getting closer. Alternately there needs to be a pulley on the bed so it can be gradually raised.
Another youtube video has gone up. It's quite long, but its just someone explaining how the production is coming along.
The main points I've noticed are:
- design (but not production) of every component is now complete
- Gamezone have hired more staff and are running two 8 hour shifts a day to get production sorted
- every single model is quality checked by 3 different people
- They won't be releasing much of the artwork before launch, only the small images at the top of every official update
- The design of the spell cards will not be the same as the images shown in the crowdfunding
- They have some of the 15 additional hero models (pledge level 2 and 3) and will be posting 1 or 2 videos per day to show them off
- The captured knight miniature will no longer be movable and in two pieces, instead they're making two completely separate models (one captured one freed)
- The second side of the modular board will feature flooded corridors, that have their own special rules
- Doors will be made in plastic
- The crowdfunder editions will have all coloured miniatures (green orks/gobos, cream zombies/skellies/mummies, violet vamps, grey chaos warriors, red hero)
- crowdfunded edition will require some assembly for bases and bigger models, 'classic' edition that will go to retail will be usable straight from the box
- when the web store goes live you will be able to buy each individual piece of the game separately (if you wanted a couple of extra treasure chests or if you broke your barbarian for example)
- there will eventually be different designs of some scenery and hero's available on the webstore (hopefully a barbarian that fits on his base!)
- hero's will be modular, with different weapon variations being made available on the web store
- there will be expansions made in the future
- some of gamezones existing miniature range will be converted to resin and will have hero quest profiles created
- miniatures will come in a foam insert in the box
- every piece of scenery will be unique, no duplicates for the two tables/ 4 chests etc.
- Wayland games are believed to be the UK distributers of the game
- board squares a 3cm x 3cm (1 1/4 inch)
-the Orks bodies and heads will be separate, so you can customise how you want them to look
- as a guess, he thinks march/april is a realistic date for completion. but thats based on a visit back in november. so things may have changed
- the bookcases will have plastic frames but resin shelves/books
- the doors aren't going to be movable, they were too fiddly and paint would always come off the inserts so they have switched to having separate pieces for open and closed doors
Automatically Appended Next Post: Video for the portal has been uploaded too....
Another thing I forgot to say, if you have any questions he'll try to respond to all comments that are posted on youtube. and if it gets plenty of likes he'll keep doing more updates in English.
I do hope they still release the old captured knight, with his visor shut. I quite liked the idea of making a really old looking rusted armour, as though he was hanging there for years.
I'm guessing a dwarven cleric from the miniatures proportions?
Finally, I would love that lectern as a real piece of furniture, in my front room.
This game cannot get to me fast enough. I only check this thread every few weeks to stop from going insane, but as always thanks for the updates fellas!!! Everything is looking great!
The closed door, a close up of the broken statue that has appeared in the background of some other videos and a pretty neat looking pit trap. not sure if its the normal one or the spiked one that appeared as one of the stretch goals though.
Yes very nicely done. I tried to make something similar for Descent, but didn't pull it off. The high step makes all the different as it shadows out the nearside bevel so it looks like you are looking down a pit shaft from the right angle.
It will require careful shading for best effect but like what I see with the pit, it will see much use in RPG gaming.
a trap of some sort? looks like an axe blade coming out of the wall. Ideas?
We will get four axe traps in all pedges. Whether each trap is unique I cannot say.
I think the 3d model traps are really good, I made some for RPG's and wanted to make some for descent. Having traps to place in the tabletop is great, for RG purposes you can claim whsat thry do and define their area of effect. Still I think it would be an icon of fear and caution for the PC's knowing the trap is there.
Miiniatures are placeholders, so the trap doesn't have to literally do what it shows here. It sweeps an axe, but how far? I think these traps will become an excellent focus for the PC's fears. Traps in my opinion are best when you do see them. Having hidden traps that kill the party rogue because he failed to detect them is in a way unfair you cant be alert all the time, and its just a dice roll. Having a corridor with an obvious trap, and a need to travel the route, or with an unfavourable choice of routes adds tension. Being able to place an icon of that tension on the tabletop will only help.
Am becoming increasingly glad that I pledged for this, just fingers crossed it continues to on course!
Definitely. I doubled my order in October. I alway was impressed by Gamezone's quality, but it kept getting better and better.
What really sold me was the furniture, it looks so damn good. I could say that I paid up for the wall cabinets.
more scenery and the female dwarf. Not sure why, but I don't really like the dwarf. The design on the shield maybe? or it might be the pose. the detail looks really good though.
yeah, its nice to see something different. I just feel like all the detail on the front of the mini will be completely lost behind the shield. Ooh well, I normally GM hero quest anyway, and its not like there will be a shortage of other hero characters :p
the rat reminds me of the ones you get in the original game, its a silly little thing, but I really love it.
Having some ratties in dungeons is a plus. I can't envision rattie just sitting there while a battle is going on in the room though, a furtive rat atop a tall cabinet or peering out from underneath is to me more the rattie thing. This critter is rather sedate and exposed.
Also you can't use this barrel on its side.
Still its characterful, so if the rest are all different thats ok with me to have one barrel claimed by a rat as his seat.

Nice change with a pose as well for a wizard, usually you just get a guy stood there with his staff on the ground next to him.
I like the change of pose also but for a boardgame the rested staff or spear is better. Some of the miniatures might have trouble fitting on the square grid if weapons and limbs stick out to the sides too much. Though the board squares are bigger than usual, and that might be why.
I used the old Heroquest weapons rack many times, it ended up with a standard purpose. I would put it in a barracks room and space thre other minaitures arounbd the room.
If the adventurer surprised guards they could cut them off from thier own weapons. Players quickly realised not to assume that the guards didnt also have weapons elsewhere and asked the right questions. So rushing a room to get between the guards and the weapon rack doesn't always work.
The Heroquest weapon rack was very useful but very poorly scaled. I look forwards to this one.
And the finished assassin prisoner. As good as it looks, I think its going to be weird not having a captured and free version like they're doing with the knight.
A mummy? It looks like a skellie in a dress and bonnet, someones mother perhaps.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Next up a sample base:
Lower detail quality, probably a more knock resistent plastic resin. If so a good design compromise we dont need super detailed bases,we do need sturdy bases for play.
Anyone know enough Spanish to translate the captions of the square base/rockfall piece.
AFAIK the pieces are on clear acrylic because they aren't based yet, if the above piece is a rockfall it doesn't look like blocking terrain.
Also the demo pieces shown here are on thick square resin bases:
Even if there isn't a rule for it, I will make it happen in my games
Here's another one of the leavers
Spoiler:
Does anyone recall seeing a model for the Elf yet? I remember a really cool 3D render, but am pretty sure we haven't seen even a test model yet. I wonder why its been held back.
Automatically Appended Next Post: A very simple and plain table, but I like it.
For those of you that thought the last table was a little sparse....
Spoiler:
Slinky, the closing date for any orders to be included in the first phase of deliveries was the 28th Feb, that is the only official word from Gamezone that has anything todo with the launch date.
But, A guy on the youtube channel that produces all of these videos has been to visit the factory and took an educated guess that production should be finished around March-April. This was back in November though, so things may have changed.
The orc's pose looks a bit like he is expressing his displeasure with the invading adventurers through the medium of dance, but he certainly looks nicely detailed and I love the style.
Gorechild - wasn't there some commentary fairly recently that they were still expecting March-April? I will have the check the Lanzaros forum.
Pacific wrote: The orc's pose looks a bit like he is expressing his displeasure with the invading adventurers through the medium of dance, but he certainly looks nicely detailed and I love the style.
He is sloped onto a base by both feet with gum. I think the finished miniature will have him on one leg stepping forward.
The resin used is heat resistant at least in a microwave. A model was placed in a microwave with a glass of water, for over a minute. The water boiled and the model didnt soften melt or lose detail.
A webcam chat in Spanish was also linked, no idea what they are saying.
That snakepit is extremely creepy, so I guess their design was a success!
Give me a quick, sudden death from a big spike or even a bottomless pit over falling into a pile of snakes and being bitten to death! Only thing coming out of that alive would be a honey badger.
Trouble with snake pits is that your victim has a softer landing and an armoured victim might not get adequately bitten, and can also kill a number of snakes by landing on them. You also have to feed the snakes a gblin or two. Last if you hear hissing from under the floor tread carefully.
The finalised version of the Barb, one of the spiders, and a hidden passage.
Spoiler:
I love the spider, despite it missing 2 legs! I pledged for the additional pack of spiders as well as the ones that level 3 backers get so I was hoping they'd be good. Barb seems identical to previous ones as far as I can tell and the hidden passage seems straightforward enough, I like that it isn't just a flat token on the floor any more.
1. Barbarian
Excellent barbarian dont-mess-with-me face. That is what they changed it makes hi look a lot meaner.
Does he know the riddle of steel? Does he care?
2. "Spider"
Lots of companies do spiders, its easy to get decent spider models, nasty beetles on the other hand are rarer, and thususeful for gaming.
Its a nice model too, and fantasy beetles are known for their armour rather than toxins and webs, so this brings something different and looks the part with its heavy chitin and limbs.
"I want to file a bug report."
"Que? You mean a complaint."
"No Gamezone, a bug report, your spider isn't."
3. Secret Door
A bit crude but a serviceable secret door. That will come in handy for many many RPG sessions.
Some very cool designs there, I love the distinctive style they are going for with a lot of these miniatures, they definitely have their own flavour about them.
Very nice - much more detailed than your average skeleton!
I wonder what the relative power vs. monsters will be in the game? If the heroes will be wading through enemies and one-shotting them or will it be several turns of back and forth?
Pacific wrote:I wonder what the relative power vs. monsters will be in the game? If the heroes will be wading through enemies and one-shotting them or will it be several turns of back and forth?
I really hope its the latter. Having played the original game with both the UK and US rules, I much prefer it when monsters can take a hit or two and fight on. If anything I'd hope that in the new game it will be even harder to kill the monsters than in the US edition. So that you basically have to work as a team or end up fleeing if things go badly and you're alone.
I normally GM my games of heroquest and I hate having to throw down every single chaos warrior and the gargoyle at the same time to make the players actually feel like they might need to work as a team.
It's nice that they keep posting little updates, but does anyone else feel like this is all a bit repetitive? Especially when we haven't seen anything of the not-firmir, the chaos warriors, the ogres, most of the additional heroes, the vampire, servants etc.
I like the way with these undead they have gone for un-natural poses with them. It gives a good 'Harryhausen'-type vibe to them, you can imagine them fighting in stop-gap animation against Sinbad and the like.
@Orlanth - I get that they're posting them all in batches, but what I meant was that this is probably the 4th time we've been shown the skeletons (concept artwork, 3d renders, rejected miscasts, final version). Yet we haven't seen a physical model for 1 of the original heroes, 2 of the female heroes, 14 of the additional heroes, the chaos warriors, the drakks, the ogres, the wraith, the servants, the vampire, the stone sentinels etc, etc. and half of those we have seen literally nothing for.
It makes you wonder how far is still left to go in the design process for a lot of these things, let alone production.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I just noticed another potentially significant tidbit of information over on the BGG forum:
The German Gamezone website says 'Verfügbar ab 14.05.2015'.....Available from 14th May 2015.
Presumably that would be for retail versions of the game and they did claim that backers should receive their copies before general release. That said, nothing is mentioned on the main GZ web page and there hasn't been any official update (surprise surprise!), but someone must have updated the site on their end, so fingers crossed!
While I appreciate that FyD Forja y Desván TV took the time to do the videos they are just recycling the same stuff over based on what they got in their visits to Gamezone they don't have anything new to show now and it seems to be an exercise in driving views of their Youtube channel now. While I don't speak Spanish I have no idea how they can do multiple 1 to 2 hour chats what can they be covering.
As i said I'm grateful they did it but it's run it's course now.

I wouldn't worry
Gamezone are only releasing miniature previews now, not images. The images are likely long done and are an easy stage.
If you look at the videos they put up all the core eight heroes are done, and are being shown on those videos, we just haven't seen the close up previews yet. Also 'lots' of the monsters are done, more than have been shown properly.
Gamezone are sequentially releasing images two per day to keep interest stable. Given the number of models in this set we have a good two or three months of previews to do yet.
Remember the video they showed of the factory some months back with large bags full of dungeon furniture, particularly the wardrobes. When they design and make the miniatures they also batch a large number of them for the backers and first release run. So they may not have made the chaos warriors yet, but that need not alarm anyone. There isn't a design stage then the manufacturing stage, manufacturing appears to immediately follow design on each individual component, so when the last few prototype sculpts run off they will likely be all that is left that needs doing.
So yes, maybe some models aren't made yet, but Gamezone have been making miniatures a long time, and know how to make all the things we are missing, at least with regards to miniatures.
The only real question on competence is whether they can get the cardboard components right and the rules quality. Though if like me you are in it for the miniatures then that does not matter so much.
I would not worrit over anything other than the legal issue, and I would worrit only over that for the US backers and general retailers outside the EU.
Gamezone were off to a rocky start with regards to communications, but this is a crowdfund project and those are in two categories, those that deliver late and those that deliver not at all. With all the stuff we are seeing Heroquest 25h is in the former category. We are over 12 months on the clock already and four months 'overdue', but its coming our way and the quality has not been dropped.
So in all I am happy, and suggest you see the bright side also. You are in for a lot of well made resin goodness at a low backers price, relax and enjoy.
From BGG, translated by one of their users from a French Heroquest forum...
'I'm sorry of being late, I had to pass this weekend with my family and yes, I have had the chance to speak with Dionisio on Friday evening. I will start by telling you this, the official date is on May 14, 2015 for the stores to sell the boardgame. This means that the game will be delivered to them earlier and the pre-orders will be delivered to you on May 7. The backers even earlier than that but I have no idea for the pouet (*what is 'pouet'?). Just for the things to arrive little by little. Regarding the minatures, I have noticed that Rokror have already dropped the piece so I will not occupy myself with that. My translation FR has been reviewed by another fan FR and transmitted to a professional translator by one of the editors who are responsible for the finalization of the documents. I will not receive the prototype but only the boardgame. My only task from now on is the updates' translation of the official site (2 of them are already done but they are not online yet) or the online boutique (1 is still not on line).'
So if all goes to plan It sounds like the start of May is when backers will be getting their games (sod's law it will be the day I go on holiday for 2 weeks D: ). But most reassuringly, it sounds like the rules are being professionally translated. So no dodgey google translations like most of their updates have been!
May is.... soon, and backers get their even sooner. This is now 'just around the corner'. However I have seen the very last hurdles become the largest delays, Gamezone are used to making miniatures, not boardgames. This project will require some outsourcing and I have no idea if that is going ok. We have yet to see any content other than miniatures so far, excepting the dice. Is the packaging done? I doubt it, why do I doubt, because we were supposed to have customised labels on the backers copies, adn wev have yet to be canvassed as to what we want on them.
"With the Level 1 pledge you will receive a copy of the HEROQUEST 25th ANNIVERSARY commemorative edition. All these copies will be numbered and the name you choose will be printed inside. These copies will also have a special FUNDER logo printed on the box cover; this logo will be exclusive to the copies purchased through this crowdfunding."
Outsourced production could cause delays. Then there comes shipping.
One of my kickstarter purchases, Game & Gears battleboards were ready in December and has been 'shipping' ever since. Customs delays were a major timedrag. The product is now in the UK, but it still wont reach me for two more weeks. Internal distribution is also time consuming for a small company.
Gamezone said December, its now March and they are saying May. May? Maybe.
Orlanth wrote: we were supposed to have customised labels on the backers copies, adn wev have yet to be canvassed as to what we want on them.
I hate to break it to you, but they have, and I'm pretty sure that ship has sailed now. The video on the official site that explained how to complete your order said to enter the name/personalised message you wanted into the comments when finalising the form. Assuming youve already put your order through for the first batch of deliveries, you'll have missed your chance.

I didn't see this, this option was poorly documented, if at all.
My orders went through. I also contacted Gamezone to ask about the names, at the time, never got a reply.
Not happy with that, but its not a big deal really, my purchase wasn't a gift.
DaveC posted the video and there was a discussion about it back in September (page 11 of this thread).
I've just had a look and it is still possible to add comments onto my order on the Gamezone site. Obviously anything you add now may get missed if they've already taken a copy of the full list of orders, but it might be worth trying? If you've missed it already then it won't change anything, but if you try you may have half a chance if you really wanted a personalised box.
Müller wrote: How could I have missed this completely?
Well... Looks like I'll buy this one off the shelves later then..
I missed the Wild West vs Cthulhu game posted a while back and am kicking myself that I didn't see it in time.

I got a PM advising me to put a note on my order using my existing order number, and did so.
The personalised box is not a big deal, allowing for the fact that I bought in for RPG miniatures, but on the offchance the game is worth playing (I didnt like the original Heroquest) a personalised box would be a nice touch. If it happens it happens.
Not anything new exactly, but they've posted some size comparisons to help give an idea of scale.
Spoiler:
I wasn't going to bother with this one, but it does give you an idea about the level of assembly that is going to be required straight from the box. Skip to 51 seconds.
Mymearan wrote: Are there pictures of the models? I don't know why they're releasing everything as video, but I don't really have time to watch 70 of them...
Its easy to get the best of both worlds, see a picture link, click it and then move the timer bar to halfway through the video and you will see the mini rotating in 3d.
I couldnt suffer to sit through three minutes of that constant guitar noise to get to the info I want, why would I want to, each video is in fact about 5 seconds long repeated, with a long intro and outro. Excepting the chat videos, which are in Spanish.
Well probably FyD will do an international video, but there are some news that I think you would like to know.
Seems that GZ is starting the production of the cardboards. They are going to use three diferents print companies that are specialiced in production of diferent components, cards, boardgames, etc.
They said that they are trying to have a level of components better quality than those ones that we see in general boardgames that we know.
There will be sleeves to the cards that we can use to change some of the stats of the cards, change efects in the cards, etc. The cards are from a non standard size and they are going to produce the sleeves for them.
About the box they speculate but GZ said nothing about it but they said thay maybe will be about 50x40x26 cm. A big box will be for sure.
The miniatures will be multicomponents. The plastic components are almost finished.
I'm new here.
I usually stick to boardgamegeek, and even there I don't actually write that much, and mostly just read on whatever subject I'm interested at the moment.
But I have been following this Heroquest25 since before it was on Kickstarter (and Verkami and Lanzanos ...) and since I can understand spanish, I occasionally try to help clarify what I can in all this mess.
It is plain to see that the communication part of this whole project has been so mismanaged by Gamezone that it's hard, even for spanish speaking backers, to make sense of what is happening. I've seen some of those two hour videos and most of the time they are discussing rumors and unconfirmed possibilities.
I'll try to resume this last batch of (unconfirmed) information:
The miniature production is still not finished. Gamezone was not happy with some models and so they have redone them, it was said that the elf was currently being produced after having been corrected several times. They currently have two consecutive 8 hour shifts producing miniatures as well as sorting between faulty and good minis.
There are rumors that all the final files were sent last week to the printers, and that they selected 3 different printing companies based on what each does better (cards, boards, rulebook, etc..)
This is consistent with the french translator having said that all his work on Heroquest25 was finished and delivered to Gamezone, including two translated updates for heroquestclassic.com that are still not published yet. But on the other hand it is totally contradictory to what the italians are saying. They claim that they have not even received the final rulebook to start the italian translation.
I have also heard this talk about the special sleeves, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Gamezone as a strange habit of talking too much of things that look like a good idea before actually trying to make them real.
When the time comes, and hard reality catches up with them, they have to make changes or back out entirely on given promises.
I has happened quite some times in this past year, so if what GZ is saying sounds too far out, it will probably not actually turn out that way.
I've given up on trying to make sense it all.
Hopefully it will all turn out for the best sometime in the future.
There is an interview by a spanish blog called FanHammer planned latter today with the owner of Gamezone, Dionisio.
I'll keep an eye out to see if there is anything new worthy of note.
1. If the French translator has finished then the rules are complete and finalised.
2. Italian sales may indeed be small, and may require a separate print run. Italian backers may get their product late. This makes some sense, Italy is not a large market for gaming compared to France, Germany and the English speaking world. Providing Italian language service is a natural extension for a Spanish company but it could be batched later.
Having the printing underway while not having the Italian translation done is not a contradiction of itself.
3. What are special sleeves? If these are card sleeves they are available commercially already. GameZone need not provide them.
4. The amount of times they redo the elf is a good sign not a bad IMHO, its means GameZone want to get it right. We have seen two barbarians so far, the first was an decent miniature, the second had a sterner expression.
Most companies would have gone with the first as a high quality miniature, however that quite servicable barbarian model was somehow not good enough. The more I see the sculpting delays the more convinced I am we are in for a superlative quality product.
5. Communications have indeed been mismanaged, but GameZone are talking, they are clearly on the job and getting it done. While progress is haphazard there is progress, and as the rules are apparently done the emphasis on the progress is artistic. the cerebral issues, which heroes, which monsters and how they play is already done apparently. Though if needed stats could end up being tweaked for balance without effecting the translated rules.
The long talks on what to do with this or that model is just artists talking through a collective art project. To me its a good sign. If there was 'squabbling' over the rules I would be more concerned.
All in all your batch of rumours are encouraging rather than worrying. Thank you.
Nice to see that after 25 years they've finally come up with a door the models could actually fit through!
Spoiler:
As everyone else as said, welcome gpires!
Its ludicrous that a project like this is so dependant on fans to pass on second hand rumoured information to the backers that have financed the project, but that's where we stand, so I am grateful for any information you're able to send our way!
One of the additional heroes, 'the exterminator' apparently.
Spoiler:
I don't really know what its meant to be. Like a dwarf assassin with a weird metal mask on? It looks okay I guess, but it doesn't seem to have anywhere near the same level of detail as the barb/wizard/huntress/female dwarf we've seen.
It's an, let's call it amateurish, one hour long interview and the sound quality far far from ideal.
But it's straight from the horse's mouth so I will try to resume some of what was said.
Please forgive any possible mistake, mistranslation or rephrasing that I might do.
Also please be aware that Gamezone has a history of not doing exactly what has been said before, so don't hold your breath about any promises made.
FanHammer: Since I posted on my blog that I was doing this interview, there is all this people asking incessantly about it. I think you didn't really know what you were getting into when you started with this Heroquest project.
Dionisio: It's inevitable. There was a joke that we used to make that if this was not done for so many years than it must have some sort of curse attached to it. And it was true, when we opened the Heroquest tomb all hell broke loose. But it's ok.
Then they talk about the dice, and that they have 8 sides, two of them being critical hit and critical failure and those two are less likely to come out that the other six sides. The dice work and are already being produced (I'm not sure if he means "are already being produced" or "are already produced").
The cards will have a special size, that is not in used by anyone else on the market. Dionisio confirms that he is working with the printing companies for several months now, but he will not confirm nor deny if everything is already sent to be printed. His words are something like "I will not say that until everything is all finished and we are happy with it". What he did say is that they are not as advanced as they would like to be at this time.
The plastic counters and doors are all manufactured and ready to put in the final boxes.
After that they talk about the 15 additional heroes, and Dionisio says that they tried to make different heroes than the ones that are always in this kind of games. Forget about the usual rpg classes, we will have an ex-nightclub bouncer that always dreamed of being a wizard and bought a big and heavy spellbook that he uses to club down his foes with when he cannot make some of the spells work. We also have a dwarf assassin that uses poisoned weapons, and an Elf that as been convicted and as to wear a mask and serve as mercenary for hire, as long as the sentence lasts.
About the rules and the testing. Dionisio says that he made the rules himself but there were obviously other people helping him revise it and giving opinions about them. The rules are finished and have been tested, but there is always room for small improvements right up to the time that they will be sent to the printers. Then they talk about the advanced rules, called Heroic rules. These Heroic rules are optional and can be used from the very start by more experienced players.
About the official updates on their website Dionisio says that they will try to do it more, and that the reason that they don't do it more often is because every time they say something everybody gets all worked up with it (he said "Hyped up, and too much hype is not a good thing"). They want to start to make regular updates when they are positively sure about the shipping date, but this weekend they will update the green bars on the november chart to show the project’s current status.
This was their first crowdfunding, and if they do anything similar in the future they will have to have everything much more advance even before beginning.
Dionisio does not want to announce a shipping date until he is 100% sure he can fulfill it, or it will cause even more anger from the backers. He assures that they are working as fast as they can to make it happen, but that they tried to rush the project before to get it done by christmas 2014 and it costed them lots of mistakes, setbacks and even more delays. So now they try to pace themselves and not make any more mistakes.
They are still manufacturing miniatures, but all of them are already designed in 3D and awaiting in queue to be produced.
The miniatures will come in parts in the box and will have to be assembled at home before starting to play the game, but it will be very easy to assemble.
This last week they were producing Chaos Warriors. The Drrakks will be the last ones to be produced and they will be orange.
The first 50 missions are finished but the other 50 are still being written and tested. There will be random events, like ambushes and others, between missions.
Every miniature, and miniature part, that comes in the box will be for sale later in the online store.
The pdf of the rules will be available to download from their website only after they ship the boxes to the backers.
The last question was from a very emotional fan that said that 25 years ago he was delighted with the old Heroquest and completely overjoyed with what he found in he box, and asks if Dionisio thinks that this new Heroquest will be able to replicate that feeling today?
Dionisio reply's that he thinks so, and that all the waiting will be rewarded with an unforgettable game when they finally open the box.
It's an, let's call it amateurish, one hour long interview and the sound quality far far from ideal.
But it's straight from the horse's mouth so I will try to resume some of what was said.

Thanks again gpires. An error margin is noted.
the fact that the video is amateurish is not a problem. They aren't sending us a packaged managed corporate propoganda release, we are getting chats from the studio office. The video might be more dodgy but I think we will see the real product and Gamezones vision behind it this way. Furthermore these chats are fairly frequent which is a good thing.
Also please be aware that Gamezone has a history of not doing exactly what has been said before, so don't hold your breath about any promises made.
This is an artistic project first of all. It is clearly artistic over corporate and that actually is a good sign. A corporation would haver been thinking of deadlines and targets an artist is thinking about expressing theri vision.
Heroquest will take longer to get to us, but it will be worth it.
I do think Gamezone are going the wrong way about it, an overly artistic approach will hurt them, but as backers we should see good stuff.
Gamezone rejected a perfectly decent barbarian mini because his facial expression wasn't mean enough, now we one that has a mean look. A corporate manager would have gone with what he has got, we will get the best Gamezone can do.
FanHammer: Since I posted on my blog that I was doing this interview, there is all this people asking incessantly about it. I think you didn't really know what you were getting into when you started with this Heroquest project.

The dice work and are already being produced (I'm not sure if he means "are already being produced" or "are already produced").
Dice already seen they are a hexagonal section cylinder, six even sides and two low odds end caps. I think rolling technique will effect chances of criticals, a low side roll is unlikely to have many a top down roll possibly more. However that effects both critical hit and miss.
All in all I like these dice and will think hard about trying to include them into gaming. I hope the six sides are 1-6 rather than icons. I would allow a player to roll one of these instead of a regular d6 for damage if they like, as personal choice in my D&D and Runequest games.
That explains the card sleeves. That Dionisio is a very bad idea. This is where an overly artistic approach hurts. If you have a great idea for game cards make sure it fits regular playing cards, problem solved.
Now games do have irregular cards but most are some sort of scorecard or mini playmat, those are different. I think they are talking here about deck cards.
Now there is a standard and a standard large playing card size, even Magic now uses standard large for some decks. If they wanted chunkier that would be a better option. Also Tarot is popular in France and Spain, tarot card size would be cool and you should be able to source sleeves for them somewhere.
Perhaps this is what they are doing.
After that they talk about the 15 additional heroes, and Dionisio says that they tried to make different heroes than the ones that are always in this kind of games. Now this is most interesting, thank you.
Forget about the usual rpg classes - actually no. a lot of roleplayers do have odd twists to the fantassy sterotype. This is good very good.
ex-nightclub bouncer that always dreamed of being a wizard and bought a big and heavy spellbook that he uses to club down his foes - Nice variant of the multiclass mage for Heroquest. So thats what the 'ex bouncer' is. I would not have expected robes and heavy book in a million years. Most mage minis are weedy, however there is nothing wrong with having a wizard with a high strength stat, high roller players might get one anyway. This will be very useful. I still remember the tower wizard in Hommlet who was one of the strongest men in the village.
a dwarf assassin that uses poisoned weapons - seen him on this page and was most impressed.
an Elf that as been convicted and as to wear a mask and serve as mercenary for hire, as long as the sentence lasts - an elf in the iron mask. Neat.
All in all you have some out of the box character there and four generics for which we are given both genders. Hats off to gamezone for an excellent selection of characters. There were 24 characters in Descent 1st edition, and they were all generic fantasy tropes with no personality. I am happy with this news. Heroquest will be fun, and those who bought in for the minis are getting some 1st rate RPG character fuel.
So much so I am thinking most of these are too good for the PC's. That elf is on his way to being a recurring antagonist methinks.
About the rules and the testing. Dionisio says that he made the rules himself but there were obviously other people helping him revise it and giving opinions about them. Two levels of game rules complexity, good, but expected. However I do see a problem, if the rules are not final but the French translation is complete either Gamezone will have to go through further rounds of translation or will have to call a halt to rules changes soon. This is always a problem when you design rather game while doing the localisation. Localisation normally happens afterwards. Having done localisation it can be time consuming.
About the official updates on their website Dionisio says that they will try to do it more, and that the reason that they don't do it more often is because every time they say something everybody gets all worked up with it (he said "Hyped up, and too much hype is not a good thing").
Too many alpha artists, disagreeing over colours etc. I forgive them it must be fun even the asrguments, but it looks like they needed a detached business figure in studio with the proverbial cold water bucket. Still their loss is our gain.
They want to start to make regular updates when they are positively sure about the shipping date, but this weekend they will update the green bars on the november chart to show the project’s current status.
Just continue making the game Dionisio, and give more unpolished interviews and factory shots. We can see for ourselves.
This was their first crowdfunding, and if they do anything similar in the future they will have to have everything much more advance even before beginning.

I ask backers here to be patient, the reasons for the delays are because of the studio over management design philosophy. You know how we all complain that corporate games ruin gaming and like more studio led mgames design. This is what happens when that happens. When the artiste is ready it is ready, and artiste here is not one of my usual myriad typos.
They are still manufacturing miniatures, but all of them are already designed in 3D and awaiting in queue to be produced.
Worked that our a few pages back, but nice to see a confirmation. If I was right about that maybe I am right about the delays being to ensure studio vision and a superlative quality thing. Which is enheartening yes?
The miniatures will come in parts in the box and will have to be assembled at home before starting to play the game, but it will be very easy to assemble.
I am thinking Super Dungeon Explore easy to put together, and don't mind. Anyone buying this is not after throw together miniatures, or shouldn't be.
If there are they are after the wrong product IMHO.
This is perhaps my only beef with Heroquest, the game was cheap and Gamezone are producing this. Heroquest never needed a connoisseurs edition, they should have done their own game.
This last week they were producing Chaos Warriors. The Drrakks will be the last ones to be produced and they will be orange.

Wtite and test and include 100 missions. With most sets you are lucky to get a dozen. This is great news.
Every miniature, and miniature part, that comes in the box will be for sale later in the online store.

Makes sense that is the stage at which Hasbro will act if they intend to do so. Reading between the lines here I think it means backers should get their copies before any legal moves that are made are actioned.
Hasbro can go to court and get a rules release for infringement review purposes, but that costs time and money.

Fair enough. I was never a Heroquest fan and am being perhaps too harsh. Still I stand by my words. Heroquest is a cheap game. You dont make gold plated tiddlywinks for millionaires you make gold plated chess sets; if you get the analogy.
Again I am biased and must admit that, I am in in it for the miniatures and was from the start, but will give the game a whirl, and am more likely to do so the less it resembles Heroquest.
New video of what seems to be the normal pit trap, this seems to confirm our suspicion that the one we had previously seen was the special stretch goal piece.
This one looks just as good though
