Been Seeking out oddball tanks, Tanky alien infantry @ 2010/11/05 18:46:08

Post by: shasolenzabi

So, I seemed to have used a search engine in my pursuit of the oddball tanks out there to build for my collection for either 40k or just because I am a tread head. I am starting this thread to discuss these wild designs, or really cool tanks that are out there, and the search engine helped me accidentally raise a dead thread, and that is why the fresh discussion here. The thread I found regarded the discussion about the similarity between the Bauhaus Grizzly from the old Target Games Warzone game, and the Miyazaki art work turned model tank the Akuyaku 1Go with the pigs for crew. I did recently get and am building the MS-Igloo 2 Gravity Front E.F.G.F. M61A5 kit and that was sweet building! Working on painting it in my armies' livery, a real monster in size, it was only useable in games of Apocalypse scale battles. Also, so cool looking a tank that I just had to collect it!

The same goes for the Akuyaku, it is a huge kit for 1:72 scale, at 23.5cm according to Hobby Links Japan. http://www.hlj.com/product/TACTG-2 And will be a sweet deal with a few metal parts(Screws and a spring). The M61A5 had photo-etched parts and cost me about the same as a Forgeworld made kit! The price of the Akuyaku is cheaper by far, and looks to be a great kit to work with according to pics of the parts I have seen.

The treads look like they attach the big blades onto the flex-track and at the twice the size of the a Leman Russ tank is a big monster at 1:72 scale and would be huge at 1:48 scale. I have seen how huge the Grizzly from Warzone was, and well, if there were any, likely today would be more expensive. The details on the kits look awesome, and the pigs alone are are well worth it for the fun factor! I would like to get more input from others as to the kit and how others see it as a collectible item for their tank collections!

So, any one out there know of any other odd tank designs I could find out there? I am always looking for such kits.

Nobody? no one has other wacky or unusual tank kits they have seen to discuss this or point me to?

If you are looking for a bizarre real life tank, then take a look at this thing.

Unfortunately the only model I can find for it is rather expensive.

Well, after selecting Fed Ex shipping it came out to about 82.90USD, But that is because I want it fast. I liked the little Russian marked oddballs, treads with outer wheels for stability!
The bigger tank looked like a converted train car!

Ah the Tricycle tank! THAT was a most oddball of tank designs. Yeah, figures that such an out of the usual model would get so much money asked for it, likely museum prices!

Orky-fied Akuyakus would also be amazing!

I just found out the Akayaku 1 is 14cm or about 5.5inches wide, and the with the 23.5cm length makes it a decent size hull I have been looking for pics of the kit with something more familiar near it, say a Space Marine, or other 28mm mini to get a better size check . I likely will have to alter the machine guns to be Heavy Stuubbers, Heavy bolters and autocannons likely for the mid range guns. Main cannon may or may not need battle cannon beef up.

Oh yes, I may have to something about enlarging some hatches if the Aku is to be used by my IG,. If not, I can make it a MegaGrotTank and keep the small hatches as they are.

It is on it's way! it is in transit as I type. soon this: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10049975a/20/1 will be in my hands! my friends are all going, "Great, he has another super-heavy to add to his collection!" My paint scheme will be what I call Highland Tundra, of shadow gray and Catachan Green with small black patches in between.

Cool looking stuff! I used to have some of the S.F.3d battle suits way back. Those used real wire bits and guitar string cables. I have guitar strings and those will likely replace the antennae on the Aku, just so they bounce back instead of snapping off.

It has arrived! some of the hatches will need re-working, and the machine guns are just about Heavy stubber sized, need to clip the small barrels and then drill out a bigger bore for them. I may even have to gray stuff a main hatch cupola for the commander, all other rectangular hatches can be left as the type one would slither through, like the hatches on some of the early tanks and bombers. I will have to take the camera along to show my mods of the thing as I work on it.

No. It is someone in Germany.

Ah, Germany, okay. Those would be dollars to Euros then. Not like the old days when I used to exchange nicely for Deutschmarks!

I can't believe how fast that kit went together, and how low my new camera batteries were! I got one pic taken before the battery died, on 28mm soldier to show the relative size of the Akuyaku 1. As soon as the batteries are back up, I can take a pic of the finished kit with the first modification, some gray stuff and an old Leman Russ turret hatch.

Then will come the drilling of the machine guns to Heavy stubber bores. I will also take pics of the paint scheme I use for my tanks.

No, but you can get it through hlj.com aka HobbylinkJapan.com. make sure the kit has the green dot by it to let you know it is in stock!

I will say this, most of the hatches are smallish, but then the normal figures could theoretically slither through, provided the men stay fit, and the tank services use the smallest body builds from the inductees to the guard. Tank crew may be no more than 5' 3" tall.

No worries, Orinoco, I will have pics likely tomorrow night!

I have more images here to show as I progressed.

Here I have a soldier standing right in front of it.

From above so you can see how close he actually is to get a sense of how big the kit is, makes me wonder what a 1/48 scale would be instead of this scale I had to convert.

Standing next it to show the tread system height.

And from a slight height angle. Plenty of the details shown here.

personally i think the 1:48 would have been the better choice. the model looks ace and your doing a very good job to it, but it rather looks a bit small to me. the weaponloadout looks like it could be a standin for a baneblade or other super heavy tanks...

best wishes with your work, vik

Thanks Vik, I searched for a 1/48 version, but alas, none were on sale, not even E-Bay. I am using the tank the same way as my Double Leman, the bulk of the Akuyaku guns are Heavy Stubbers, and I did manage to drill all of the ones needing it.

Paint started here,

and
[/img]

Then the Shadow Gray
[/img]

I then added the metallics to the treads.
[/img]

and here, both are painted.

Then it was time for the black in between breaks for the camo

i really dig the black lines. they look incredibly good. i´m not that fond with the shadow grey, it might be a monitor thing but it looks blue to my to an extent like ultramarines blue even...

but i think when you wash that beast it will blow my mind. have fun painting it. will you name it?

Nice work, I think it would do well in a catachan army, could easily be a death world camo scheme.

Been Seeking out oddball tanks, Tanky alien infantry @ 2010/11/19 01:22:34

Post by: shasolenzabi

Thanks guys. That color scheme is for the Highland summer pattern for the planet Khadrovia, it is a cold world where the weather is what can kill you, especially in winter time. Plenty of of carnivores to hunt and be hunted by on that world to boot! The shadow gray has a big amount of blue tinge, but the rocks are about that shale like color on Khadrovia

I used some old Chestnut wash for the rust effects on the treads;
[/img]
[/img]

Then I figured a company marking may work to contrast with the gray and the green
[/img]
[/img]
[/img]
[/img]

The unit marking was with skull white and then using Mechrite red for the base, to be followed by blood red. For the wash to make it look old and dirty I am using devlan mud for the initial wash down and will add even more wash to the lines between the armore plates to make them stand out some more, a little something that appear like orange rust,,,like vomit brown to slightly dab the hull plates and rivets and voila!

Been Seeking out oddball tanks, Tanky alien infantry @ 2010/11/19 07:28:10

Post by: Viktor von Domm

i begin to like your design the more i look at it. your fluff for the camo is very sound. one thing i might suggest is take a piece of tape(the paper kind for painting walls etc whats easy to remove) and go over the unit markings. they look too uneven. one day you will do that eventually, but you will always think about it when you see it and tell yourself off for it when not done... the whole model looks really good and as you used brighter colors the eye is imidiatly drawn to this part. will you do something to break up the sooteffect at the barrels? something to lessen the blackness there, i would suggest some greys or some devlan mud wash so thts not so massivly black there.

i really envy you for your fantadstic and unique model.

by the way the rust effect on your tracks looks good. would you mind showing it to us without a flash, maybe an outside shot by bright daylight?

both thumbs up for your great work, vik

Been Seeking out oddball tanks, Tanky alien infantry @ 2010/11/19 08:24:22

Post by: shasolenzabi

Hi Vik, Likely I will go to the hardware store next to the shop I was painting it at, and grab some of that tape to help straighten out the lines of red and white. I like that idea of painter's tape to help me out (Shaky hands can be a drawback to free hand painting).

Thanks, I have a whole host of the planets noted down for the Khadrovian Konfederation, and what planets contribute to the military they guard their portion of the Emperor's realms with. The majority of the worlds are Ice worlds, or Tundras, some forested and even a radioactive volcanic world to boot!

As for the soot from firing the cannons,,,,Hmmm, I could try and attempt some different schemes to tone it down, and make it less messy. I am also thinking cuts or holes for the muzzle brake at the end of the main barrel.

As for the tank, you could get one at the HobbylinkJapan, they have two headings for it, you want the one that has it with a green dot and at about 50USD, or likely a little higher in Euros. Then they do add shipping costs, it wasn't too bad, 82.90 total from my bank account as they charged it through Paypal on their website so that you are paying in Yen(Helps their banking system)

I can try daylight for the showing of the rust, I did have the flash off, the whole time we were under flourescent lights, and they do odd things with paint colors. I found that the Chain-mail of the treads with a heavy wash of chestnut ink wash made the rust.

My last pics;

A close up of the rear right flank with the rust and the devlan mud on the vehicle.
[/img]

Here the soldier(Greatcoated) is walking alongside the tank it is closer to done.
[/img]

Here, a head on for the sheer scale and size of it, making one realize that if I had found this at 1/48th, it would truly dwarf the soldiers
[/img]

At a slight angle, but also complete pic of the tank without it being blocked off at the edge.
[/img]

I can't wait to work with the helpful suggestions and get decals to mark it up in and rewash it all dirty, and I also plan to use a earthy color to dirty up the lower track sections and add to the discoloration with the rust.

And I decided to use Guitar strings for the antennae.

every time i read decals my one eye twinges. i am no good at freehand, well the things i have tried, but i am a total dumba.. when it comes to decals. also i tend to find the glossy look of the decals yucky... i understand if you want to have stability in looks decals is a very good option. i just dont like them.

painters tape...damn i could have come up with the right word^^.
as for lights and effects the produce, the last pic of yours is by far giving the best results. the angle seems just right to pay tribute to all invlved colors...
ha thats a warzone mini? the longcoats? i´ve oggled on them for a long time now. they look super cool. but as i want to ceate a quasi praetorian army they dont look the look...
so as you go in full fluff mode now, will you do the sqad to this tank in a same camo scheme and wiull there be a next tank with another scheme or will you then repeat it? could work if you have small forces about 500 points worth all in seperate schemes which tie themselfs in the greater scheme... this way cyou can built fine looking units and not get bored while overrepeating the same scheme over and over again. if thats your idea as well i´d say cool idea^^...

i came to your thread because you collected the oddbal tanks. that was very inspiring. we should do so again, a leman russ or a landraider get boring when you see too much of them...

cheers mate and good luck with your painting.

Well, I do want to use the decals I have left over from the GW tanks to make the tie in and look and with the right wash and matte finish, the glossy look should go away. with the painters' tape, some can be hand painted. GW has boring numbers for their vehicles, they are either black or white.

The one thing I have been doing is using a urban-geometric pattern on the fabrics of the mens, uniforms, but some of the units I own this would be silly on, but the helmets and hard armor, like the cadian chest plates will be Catachan Green, some have khaki and earth camo on them. My storm troopers get black armor with grey splinters as opposed to the khaki-earth camo on the green.

All of my tanks are getting the Highlands camo as that is classed as a general patter for the Konfederacy for simplicity in ID of the tanks. I may make some tanks in the future just be green.

The long coats are from Wargames Factory, it is their brand new sci-fi troopers series they just came out with, I have platoons and vets from three different worlds just by using the optional heads that they come with.

I am also working on several other oddballs one is a Gundam Hi Grade kit of the M61A5 tank, I use the guns as long range Twinlinked Vanquishers. I will be taking pics of that as it is built and is under the brush stage now, sorry for no WIPs of that as I build it. Funny, that tank is 1/35 and the guins are still considered smallish for 40K!
155mm and they are too small? I feel 40k is unrealistically over the top with gun sizes, if they built the tanks to actual true scale, instead of just representative size, we would be looking at Leman Russ tanks as big as that Akuyaku kit, and Landraiders the size of Baneblades, Baneblades the ,,,,,well, you get the idea!

I am also planning on better pics as I return to the painting/weathering of the triple turret, double turret tanks I made from bashing two and three Russ kits together.

I am also wanting to rework the Malcador Defender I made from converting a French Char 1B bis from Tamiya. the 1/35 scale Char 1B

Seadragon Heavy Transport
[/img]

Variant of the Valdor using S-Tank and Tau bits.
[/img]

T-350 triple turret land battleship
[/img]

T-290 double Turret, considered a Macharius proxy.
[/img]

My French Malcador Defender.
[/img]

I also made an exterminator with the leftover turret and cannons from the Char 1.

i also have some 1/35 scale tanks at home. the guns look like needles compared to gw guns... but i have to say i like them more. you´rew right gw tanks need to be far more bigger than they are now. would be fun to see real leman russes. then i would respect them more. as now they seem tres petit and look a bit like grottanks^^
i´ve meant wargames factory^^ just messy recollection on my part^^. they look really good and they give (for real) 3 heads on each model??? cool business concept. that way you can really diversify your army and still make them look as a unit.

i have to master the decals i think as it saves a lot of freehand time. so i hold fingers crossed for your work with them. no need to apologize for no pics. pics happen when something picwothy happens^^

cheers mate, vik

They even came with with a odd head that could be used to make a model wok when playing against the Nids, tentacle mouthed squid face for "Sarge is acting weird" if they use that Parasite model.

I loved the Warzone minis as well, especially the last iteration of the Bauhaus army. In Fact I have a small squad of veterans to from some Bauhaus minis, one Blitzer, and Jungle kommandos, I also have first run hussars as Grenadiers/stormtroopers.

I also have some tractors to pull my thudd-guns. 2 came in a kit from taken over FT-17's at 1/35th, and the third is a scratch/bash that looks like a Germanized Bren carrier. All of that came from the top of my head.

i think the triple head and double headed tanks look god if a bit overgeared. almost a bit orkish to some extent...the camo your using is really goodlooking now that i have seen so much of your army. am i guessing right that you are an apocalypse player then?
i specially like your multi sponsons on the t- mold tanks. thats really helping to support the heavy look

and i have some of the wartone minis with "pickelhauben" on sprues. wanted to use them for my steampunk army as well.

in your last pic you show the tractors. are the guns that get to be carried from warhammer fantasy the hellfire ones? i think they look really good. i´ve searched for them on ebay and want to get some for my uses...

Hey Vik, the truth is the theme I was going for was quite Russian in the way of the tank designs and the way they operate, I have taken the squads and made rifle squads and separated out the Heavy weapons to be support squads for the platoons.

Back in the 1980's when 40k first came out, and there was no force organization we played bring it battles that would last all weekend, then Apocalypse came out with some rules and oh yeah! I had to jump on that game. I am likely to use the strategic asset "Tank riders" with all the monster tanks I have as well as about a dozen Lemans' and half dozen chimeras, and then the hellhounds and artillery. I just had to mount the extra sponsons to make them appear the Heavy class tank that they are.

Heh! the Bauhuas troops with the spikes on the helmets were great! Had to make the big weapons Heavy Bolters though.

Ah, those are the actual Forgeworld made Thudd-Guns, bigger than the old metal ones from way back. I love their range and power, they do 5/5 on enemy infantry.

I have the most tanks in my IG collection, as well as my Tau collection. My SM come next, and then there are my Orks...had to get them a Stompa for good measure!

the baneblade sure got style.

as for the heavy bolters. i always think they look a bit out of scale when in the hands/mounted on IGtanks of the guard. i´m so used to the disign that when i see them with IG troups it looks like a mishappen conversion...funny thing tho thats not happening when i see a twinlinked bolter...looks more seriously then i suppose.

man as you describe your army you´ve got yourself quite a big no enourmus army. might i ask you of your age?
your by far no teen any more^^

when i see a baneblade i would lobe to see a inside shot of them. as for all those turrets, where is the place for the crew? how do they opperate the gus? well its sifi gaming so i expect no realism but one thinks the thoughts one thinks, non?^^

Baneblade does have an awe around it.

Of course, they should look odd, according to a cutaway from a White Dwarf of the Predator tank, the HB is 37mm gun. 1/35th french tanks could be used as HB sentinels on treads, like the Hotchkiss.

No problem, 46, I have been involved with 40K on/off since it hit the states in 1988.

I have actually been trying to figure out how to do a Interior of one, but to do so is expensive as the materials needed, crew, and carving up a 95dollar model is involved in the process.

Your welcome Mad4minis. ^^

yep doing so would involve killing one model/getting it out of the game and only using it for a diorama. sounds a bit over the top then.to make this work you probably have to leave the 28mm heroic scale and go further up the ladder to get all the details done right. when aiming to something that high on an art scale 28mm isn´t enough to admire all in due detail^^

by the way i´m 36 and only recently due to a project with my oldest son did i got reinvlved to wargaming. about 5 years ago i had my first models painted but then they looked like really first models. drunk in paint and not really good lucking. here on this forum i really learned quiet some tricks to make my minis look way better than then.

Oh yeah, the painter tape was harder to work with on a curving surface. The rivets allowed bleed throughs, so I had to re-work with section at a time.

looking really good your regimental colors.the tape paid quite good off. as for blleding through paint. i recommend to paint the part before aplying with the choice color first with the undercolors/side color. i use this by painting windowframes and the likes. first you tape the part, then use the "blue color" then let it dry and then add the color you like for stripes.
next step with new color simply repeat. i know it time consuming put in the end it will look good. but i thin you managed quiet good on your own^^.

3 treads? never seen this. is it only for this kit? but a nice idea nevertheless. guess you could make some house rules for that gimmick.
the tanks still remind me of the comment from Han Solo:

"look at the size of that thing..."

cool work and the decals look really smooth...
your reference shot really dwarfes the other tanks even by a scale of 1/48...

by the way. for your next treads i suggest you try something out. fist i recommend black basecoat. then only drybrushing metal on the treads. this will instantly give lots of scratches on the metal to let it look really worn to begin with. after that you can wash ´em like the devil how you want it. i think as of now the look a bit shiny under the gime and rust. your rsut wash cant break the shinyness of your first metal look...
but don´t get me wrong a general will get in some serious self confict to battle your tank as destroying him, well trying to anyway will cost him dearly one way or another...no ones easy with destroying beauties...

cheers mate, vik

Hi Vik, I did start out with white as the base color of the stripe, then added the red, had to retouch the white where the red snuck in at the rivets.

Yeah, the Akuyaku has a third section of tracks and wheels in the center, but not the entire length of the tank, I would use the "Rough terrain modifications" wargear rule for the third tread is all.

The T-61A5 is 1/35th scale, makes for superheavy class all at once with that scale! But in 1/35th is my other hellhound a PzKpfW-II flammpanzer, it is about the size of the Chimera,,,odd eh?

I did the first steps with the decals, I used the 'ardcoat on them and with the wash it will match more, and then the Matte Coat to seal it all up!

The metallic first was based more on the look of the trads used, I usually base everything in black, and then work up from that, but these were so huge, I figured they would be metallic to start as they dig deep and get scoured by the dirt they sink into. That would make them get a thin rusty coat due to exposure, I will also be using an earth tone overwash on the treads and the lower armor of the tank to look like it has indeed been in dirt before, ground in dirt.

I will, when that time comes, I will likely buy and use gauze bandaging to start with for the camo nets.

As for my odd Hydra conversion, I used the Chimera hull as shown earlier, and this is what it looks like after adding the Aegis platform to it.

Head, ready to shoot those aliens down!

Now, once my batteries are recharged, I have to take pics of the 1/35scale PzKpfw-II Flammpanzer/Hellhound, or banewolf, I put the heavy machine gun in the turret to "count as Pintle mounted weapon as the Heavy flamer and Flame/chem cannons are on the fenders!

I know fellas, but the weird bit is it fits with the Khadrovian penchant of making high sitting tanks as they are almost land going ships as far as they are used by them.

Look back at the T-290 and that is where it all started. OR my T-350, also with a tower or conning tower as it were.

Fear not though, the promised pics of the Hellhound from a WWII Flammpanzer will show a low slung approach to counter the high hat tanks. (I can play it as a battle between design pundits, like the one that went on between Battleship and Aircraft Carrier pundits way back)

Vik, you have to know by now that you had that guess right, it is not done, not by a long shot! I just am working at doing pre work, I will make the black separation more likable after I make sure the camo is just right. in the meantime, I have placed guitar strings as antenna on the Akuyaku

Close up so you all can see them.

They are old Marpeth SKD hulls procured from 'thebaggagetrain' on ebay. I had to ask for specificly and it took me a while to get the 11 or so hulls that I have. I used Ork Trukk wheels, as the ones with the kit are a bit weedy, and I have since found out that you can get resin LAV wheels from specialist model suppliers that could also do the job. I just need to weather the vehicles back now, though that may be some time in the future

i´m pretty glad i´m well over the whole issue. and following our news here in germany my sons wont have to jion the force...only if the want to...

i guess your job was pretty concentrated dullness, am i right...
in our unit, when we didn´t have to clean tanks for mock up whe mastered the art in sleeping with our foreheads on the tabledesk...a whole group of soldiers like 10 men with their heads on the desk resting...when called out of our rooms for attention we all had inprints of the table edge on our foreheads...very funny for us, but our sarge was furious...

LOL! yeah they do! all part of their job I guess. Oh the US Army will keep you pretty busy all day, if not working on the missiles and their truck beds, then the rest of the Battery vehicles helping the mechanics, or the armorer cleaning up the small arms of the battery, janitoring the barracks and all of that. Rest was for off duty hours.

We were even aware that your army could have a beer in your lunch break! Yes we were jealous of that, and I hjave been tempted to get pics of one of the most infamous units in the Khadrovian Army.....Vassily and his Violators, infamous for showing up in battles as a reserve unit in Cityfights out of manhole covers and drunk on "Wodka" and then blowing up several tanks by the end of the battle. I will have to showcase them when done, I mixed Cadians with SM parts to make their carapace, and Vassily has a Hellpistol and chain toothed power sword. (he really should have a T-hammer as he took one from a SM he killed in HtH! awesome dice rolls for that win!) I mention them in this tank thread for they were the anti-tank squad from hell, always showing up on turn 3 or 5, and we all joked how they were raiding the "Wodka" from the senior officer stores, my friend who lost the most tanks from these guys made a token for them, two crates with bottles he made by cutting the fins off of mortars!

as for drinking beer on duty, they would chuck me into the tanty if i would have been found out. that saying i had my fair share of booze while serving...otherwise it was sometimes too boring so when with to much guys to be good for you you start drinking...i like the us army for having mixed ranks of sex. thats definatly an improvement.and speaking of tanty, when on guard duty we had to prisoners, if someone was imprisoned. when we had to go there than the first thing in the night we did was play disco for the inmates...all the while staying guard we could have been sleeping instead. so we figuered when we cant sleep they shouln´t too...mind you they where only drunks and deserters. sometimes some fighter but nothing like disobeying orders, would´nt have done it then...

Thing with the British army is they train you the same as any other officer then you get a bit of extra legal stuff pegged on. So all the drills and procedures are still there, and you HAVE to serve for at least 3 months with a troop before you do the advice stuff. If i remember correctly you can also request to go on a normal officer deployment as well if you wish.

Basically it ranges anywhere from representing or advising people before a court martial or disciplinary hearing to being on base advising heads of departments and generals on what they can and cannot do. Think they provide a training role as well to the normal troops giving them lessons on "who you legally cant shoot"

Pay is the same as any other officer in the army but rank of Captain is £37,000 and promotion is likely within 4-6 years.

Also do apologise for slightly offtracking the thread

They are bordering on it, but i use them as vets, with the rules for the Honorifica rules gone, Sgt. Bastogne is the new bit to use, expensive, but hey, it fits as close as possible to the old rules I used to use to make Vassily like a low ranked Colonel. I have an old Valhallan Melta gun user, an old stormtrooper with melta, (First run with the beret and jumpsuit) and another melta gunner the bulk of the squad are in carapace, and using SM arms and shoulder guards(Vassily has the laurel wreath with skull for the Honorifca Imperialis)

I must add them to the pics, I will grab them for painting today.

Sgt. Bastogne is in the new codex IG. no more doctrines, but they do use orders which can be amazing! and sqaudrons of tanks as a single choice, but the downside is the danage that squadrons can suffer, balance fro taking more than one tank as a single choice.

Any person whos served their country should receive at least 15% discount in GW (so ex-soldiers count too )

hurray fro dicounts, should do a merger in the u.s. military enlisting srages wearing redshirts and after succesfully enlisting new ones to the army evry man gets his ATOBR set...

as for the Vassily team, looks promising. specially like the melter and his pose...ready o jump it seems. also a lot of ready to slash cadians there.and Vassily is he the one with the laspistol or the one with the berret?

by the way will nick your idea of the vodka stash. but instead of using it for vodka i will do a teachest i wuess. as they will be brits^^. and maybe a foldable chair and table to go for a short teabreak as a objective marker...

cool bottles^^

to Vik, Vassily is the one with the Hellpistol and officer style hat. The Melta gunners; Valhallan: Valentin, the Beret wearer: Tomenov, and the standing one is "shades"
Cpl. Chernov is behind Vassily, and the whole group was modeled with "Hardened Fighters" at the time, before the new 'dex came out. They all have carapace rule added in btw.

I will have a few new pics as I did paint them some more last night. ^^

Thanks Vik, they needed extra green as I could see the gray base coat through it, and then I added the camo on their fabric. Next will be their standard splinter camo from the beaureau that caused their mixed camo schemes. Blue for the teeth of Vassily's sword to indicate it as a power weapon, metal color for the corporal's chain sword as well as the rest of the squad's close combats weapons. Gotta paint the carbines and Hellpistol more, add flesh wash and they are back to making tanks afraid to be in cities or closed in areas!.

a power weapon chinsword, now thats a sight you don´t see often^^. i really like the idea of naming all of your specials. i want to do that for all my models. this is something i came up with by modeling and painting my first marines...when you hold for so long a fig in your hand they grow on you. so in respect i want to give them names to give them personality. i tend to do so anyway after all no two minis are alike...or rather will be...
by the way have you considered the purchse of a tripod? i think your blurry pics do often come from having not enough stil in the "click" also i read in a tut i think i gave you that when doing makro pics you should use the timer option. so that you don´t accidently minimaly pull the "gun" away when shooting the pic...
other than that i will wait for further paintpics for comments...
i like your bunch^^

Got the inspiration watching "Robot Warriors", one of the robots used a powered chain sword like weapon, and it stuck in my head!

These guys somehow each took on a personality of their own as I built and began painting them. They are Catachan mixed with cadian mixed with SM and SMscout bitz.

Yeah, the one that came out clearest was leaned against the table.

taking a picture is like shooting, you´ve got to watch your breath and the shake of your hands and stuff... better have as much steady points as you can have... if i have to use my cam in the free, i use to lend me in the straps of the camera...pushing all the way so it gives a bit of steadyness...
helps sometimes...

That is okay! now you will have an Akuyaku all your own, a very nice gift btw. I had to buy mine as no one else would get me one. Most people are surprised by the price and won't normally pay for it.

Enjoy! the treads will require super glue to make the polyvinyl go together, and then the plastic track links to the polyvinyl. As you can see, you will have spare track pieces when you are done.

Yeah it was a total surprise to me. I was asked what I wanted so I threw that on the list mostly as filler, as dad usually sends $$. When I saw the fedEx guy walk up with a Hobbylink Japan box I was amazed.

I was planning to buy one eventually, so Im totally thrilled. Just as well that the wife is making me wait till xmas for it...I have enough on the bench, waiting a while will probably result in a better job being done when i do get to it.

Tracks will be ok, back in the day I was really into 1:35 scale armor, so Im sure there will be nothing new in the kit.

Awesome, I also used to do a lot of Tamiya made 1:35 tanks as well, so you will know what to do as soon as you the threads, it did not have the pins for going through and melting like the Tamiya treads though, that was how I knew super glue was needed, the poly part is in two pieces, and then all of those plastic tack parts to glue on. WHEW!

Funny part, the box they sent it in was big enough, I could have ordered 2 of the Akuyakus and they would have both just fit in the box.

Mine came in the same size box...good thing it filled 2 of the dimensions or it would have bounced like a ball, there was no packing to secure it.

Heres a trick for you with the rubber-ish tank tracks...staple them. I put a couple staples in the joining area then gently stretch the tracks over the wheels. Or you can leave on of the end wheels unglued until you get the tracks in place then put it on.

Been Seeking out oddball tanks, Tanky alien infantry @ 2010/12/08 01:49:33

Post by: shasolenzabi

Hmm, I have heard of the staple method, just never seem to have a stapler around when I need one!

The kit is a bit Char1 like as regards the return system under the treads up top, just slide/guide plates. You will see screws are involved to help hold the rear idler wheels in place as well.

The kit is just amazing, and it makes me wonder how much more they could have accomplished at 1:48 or dare I say 1:35 scale?

Nothing wrong with those damsels, But when I think of tanks, I just have a liking for the treads, from the small scout tanks to the behemoths! or to also quote Monty Python's Holy Grail...."She has HUGE tracts of land!"

Thanks. Oh I do intend to wash that Devlan mud and also dirty the lower skirts and the wheels with graveyard earth to show dirt just too ground in to get rid! The decals also should help as they are rather nice for adding to the effects of the thing. Based in it's impressive range already, using the long range rule in the Vehicle Design Rules ought to give me 108" range on those twin super Vanquisher cannons.

Yeah, the pics didn't capture enough, so I will wash it again to look oily on both sets of exposed metal.

Thanks again. I know the pics make that shadow gray loo really blue, but hey, it is alien shale stone.hehehe.

To Neil: Those cannons are as is! The T-61A5 is a massive 1:35th scale kit. But the commander is a Leman Russ commander so is in the correct scale for playing in Apoc games. ^^

I had one of those T-61s its a huge kit, Its well over a foot long IIRC. I ended up selling it as I just didnt have time for a project of that scale at the time. I think i actually made a little bit of money off it...bought it for like $95, sold it for over $100.

To Mad4Minis; I am figuring that is best to grab things when I spot them, I have seen too many other times I wanted for my army that disappeared due to Out-of-print issues.

So, I worked out the details of the T-61in my VDR pages of CA 2004, it came to about 437pts.
Name; T-61A5 super-heavy tank hunter, Race; Human, BS3
FA=14, SA=14, RA=12, structure points=3, Targetter, Armaments: Twin-linked, long-barrel vanquisher cannon, twin-linked heavy bolter/flamer, Pintle mount Heavy Stubber.
speed; normal, fully armored. Crew; Commander/gunner, 2xloaders/gunners, driver/bow gunner, vox-operator.

Now, amazingly the Akuyaku-1 GO is a more expensive vehicle. Likely due to it's siege line breaker role, it is 487pts with the following stats: Type: Warmachine/Tank, Race: Human, BS3, Armor; FA=14, SA=13, RA=12. Structure points=2, Weapons: Battlecannon, 2 x autocannons, 2 x Heavy bolters, 2 x coaxial heavy stubbers, 3 x twin linked heavy stubbers, 9 x heavy stubbers. Crew: Commander/Gunner, 3 x Loaders/gunners, driver, vox operator, 6 x machine gun operators.

so being a noob i have read, well kind of, cause reading should go hand in hand with understanding...i have indeed some questions... please take in mind that i mainly for now only read fluffy parts of codecies and not the actual rulesstuff...

and something too: i never read an imperail armor codex so this means basically about tanks i know zip...

i understand fast attack and sweeping attack to some extent, the worth i cant put to use there tho...
also class of tank...:Warmachine/Tank why is it mentioned? what other types are there?
and RA is not explained...

structure points, does it serve as "lifepoints/hitpoints" of the tank?
the actual weapon lineup seems to say actually hedghog with shooty needles for me^^ there must be a hell of a noise inside that beast...if i am not mistaken it is 19 firing weapons...do they blast all at once if your using the tank as a spearhead? like run in the middle and keep all holes firing and spin gently around until all surounding biomass is obliterated? like in the movie wild wild west the tank does with all them confederates...?

the actual weapon lineup seems to say actually hedghog with shooty needles for me^^ there must be a hell of a noise inside that beast...if i am not mistaken it is 19 firing weapons...do they blast all at once if your using the tank as a spearhead? like run in the middle and keep all holes firing and spin gently around until all surounding biomass is obliterated? like in the movie wild wild west the tank does with all them confederates...?

vik

see told ya i was a born noob^^

Okay, so the rules part will help you understand how the tanks interact with regards to armor values versus guns shot at them. A codex will mesh with the main rules for the most part allowing one to see how troops and vehicles interact in the game overall.

Well, tanks have a new meaning now with regards to ramming(Tank shock for vehicles as it were)
RA=Rear Armor.
Warmachines, larger than other vehicles of similar design, while dreadnoughts and titans share basic design principles, their scale makes them so the titan is a "warmachine" this also includes superheavy tanks like the Baneblade.

So, warmachines cover the heavy tanks, super-heavy tanks and some of the largest aircraft the game can offer.

Yes, structure points are kind of like hit-points, you have to do structural damage to get rid of the things. Now a Leman Russ for instance, is a 1 point tank, but the Baneblade being bigger lasts longer with it's 3 points.

Superheavies can move, and then, with the "lumbering" rule, fire all of it's weapons, (You have to check arcs and declare what is firing at which targets before actually rolling those dice) so yeah, the inside of the Akuyaku would be pretty bad with all tat machine gun chattering and cannonade booming. The back weapons can only fire after moving if there are target to shoot at behind the tank, but that won't be too many as there are only 2 weapons back there not on turrets. ^^

So, you can imagine the other tanks I have to post here soon, the T-350, the T-290, and the troop carrier "Seadragon"

this brought some insights. but also raised some other qs as well.
why has the Akuyaku-1 only two and the T-61A5 three structural points? i understand that he is heavier built than the former but in combat he would only serve a role as a artillery tank and i dont understand why a heavy attack vehicle like the Akuyaku has then only 2 struc.p. ...

by the way how do you check arcs when firing? do you have a tool like the flamertemplate for that? i havent seen that...

apoc games muzst take so much more time than mere normal 40k games...

Been Seeking out oddball tanks, Tanky alien infantry @ 2010/12/15 22:14:51

Post by: shasolenzabi

I looked at the size of the tanks as part of it. I then also checked with other tanks, the Macharius which is about the same size as the Akuyaku, is 2 structure points and is well armed. also that structure point past one is 100points of the cost. Each weapon has a cost as well. and I like the idea of the T-61A5 lasting a while as it keeps my foes worried about it's ability to smash their tanks from further off than their guns can reach me! The Akuyaku will be escorted by smaller tanks and troops as they all attempt to breach defenses.

Also, looking at the designs, I am going with the aged design of the akuyaku, like the malcador.

Most of the turrets have 360degree arcs, except where the structure of the hull blocks them, the akuyaku can attack anything from the left rear all across the front to the right rear different guns attacking different units. Unhappy enemy infantry along the flanks, and unhappy everything else out front.

Apoc games, depending upon the points, 3k to more, can last hours or days!^^

Here it is. I decided to go semi realistic on it. Gray paint to go with the land battleship look of the tank. Also went for the clean but weather look...like a battle vet ready for the next campaign.

I didnt use the 3rd track under the center, but I may add it later. Also left the track paddles off of the bottom...thought it looked weird with them on, like it was tip toeing. They would sink into the ground and not be visible anyways.

to be honest it doesn´t look finished to me enough... i saw the exhaust weathering and it does look really good. tehre i´d lkie to know how you did that. the rest of the model doesnt look convincingly used...specially the tracks doesn´t look realistic. there should be more mud and dirt involved and also rust...lots of it. for my taste its rather clean looking...the grey color looks good though but one thing about the tracks bothers me too. why again didn´t you glue the whole tracks on? in the underside there seems to be none?
don´t get me wrong i don´t want to belittle your work, i have yet to do a tank of my own, but i think you love your model all the more if you give it a bit of more time to mature it^^...

I wanted it to look relatively clean. Its got a bit of weathering to the paint. As far as the dirt...Ive never been all that good at doing dirt lol. The tracks do need a bit more weathering though. The exhaust is just a drybrushing.

Its actually got tracks all the way around, the paddles are on top of the track belt. I left the bottom paddles off for one reason...under the weight of the tank they would sink into the ground and you wouldnt see them. With them on it looked too high, like the tank was floating.

Well, apparently I was not feeling up to getting out to the shop today, so no new pics for the oiling as yet. Sorry guys.

Hmmm, looking at the new Aku, I can spot the "weathering" at the plates and all. I know the thing looks like it is floating, but I would recommend a way to fill the gaps I see near the bottom with cut down trad plates where the piece will make it look more like it is sinking in.

I had thought of going that route, but was not wishing to leave the track join exposed.

Ya gotta do the helping tread, tanks that heavy need them!

Rivets on a tank are extremely dangerous. When an armor plate takes a hit it flexes, this has been known to break rivets, sending half of it bouncing around inside the tank like a bullet. Many crew members on early tanks were wounded/killed by ricocheting rivets.

Weathering is almost done.

Landships, wild concept, it may not have worked back in the day, but look at most 50+ton MBT's these days and they almost qualify. The big problem is transportation, not so in the 41st millenium with cargo lifters big enough to drop dozens of these beasts or a titan even!

BTW, Vik, I was able to zoom in on the pic, and the periscope shaft was even looking ground and pitted! like it has seen many movements unto it's self

I will have to write up a history of the Akuyaku-1 GO, or in my fluff,,,the T-440.

The LeClerc, turret design seems to have also inspired re-design for the Japanese Type 10 and the Korean K-2 MBT's. In 1/35th scale it seems WWI and WWII light tanks are about Chimera sized when done and those are easiest to convert to WH40K of the lot, more modern designs become baneblade scale!

The T-440 "Khadrov" Superheavy Siege Tank.

When the T-440 was originally designed by the Khadrovian Armor Design Academy, it was seen that many other planets as well as aliens would fight by entrenching themselves. Siege lines need to be broken, and the troops supported, Malcador Defenders could do this, but something with more fire was needed.Soon trials began, and the T-440 was accepted for service, where it soon proved itself to amplify the abilities of the Defender class by adding even more bullets to the fray. The design is robust, and has a more reliable engine system that are more modern. Though the Defenders still outnumber the Khadrov class, production may shift over to the more durable T-440 as the Defender: Due to it's less reliable power plant tends to be finding less favor amongst the battlefield commanders, despite a newer engine having been installed. Both models are likely still to fight side-by-side for some time to come, terrorizing enemy line troops for the next several generations.

The T-440 boasts an impressive 15 Heavy stubbers which, have some overlapping fields, as well as Heavy Bolters, Auto-cannons and a Battlecannon, Tougher armor, more reliable engines, and is amphibious(thanks to all who likened it to a submarine). It's odd curved design has earned it the nickname "Tadpole" however, it does cost more to make than the Defender, so the total retirement of the Defender is likely to be far off into the future as is the total use of the T-440.

Note: The Leman Russ pattern T-100 and T-101 being smaller, cheaper, and easier to make than either Superheavy is also seeing to the slow reitrement of the one and the slowed adoption of the T-440.

T-440 statistics: Armor; Front 14, Sides 13, Rear 12.
Weapons; Battlecannon, Twinlinked Autocannons with coaxial Heavy Stubbers in main turret. Bow weapons; 2 Heavy Bolters, Twinlinked Heavy Stubber. Hull Weapons; 2xTwinlinked Heavy Styubbers in Turrets, 6x Heavy Stubbers in barbettes, 4x Heavy stubbers in single mounts.
Speed; Lumbering
BS 3
Amphibious
Crew; 16

There we go! I came up with that all last night, and just copied it from the notebook I wrote it in.

LOL! hey, FW does tend to write fluff like that for their monster tanks. I figured that using the formula would work for me. Hmmmm, Eradicator/Exterminator/and Punisher or Executioner would be good fits to go with the T-440 with the troops riding on them or walking behind them. I will take Tank Riders as a strategic asset for Apocalypse games with all of those tanks.

The nice thing is, then you can have the troops assault off the tanks as if they were an open topped transport,,,even though they really aren't! ^^ sneaky eh?

Yeah, G.I.s or even the Sovs would do that. In fact at Bolt Action, they offer Russian tank riders!

there are still some oop ones from gw out there i saw them on ebay etc... also the bolt action stuff would be cool, then you would get the real soviet helmet stuff, also secrets of the third reich now has lots of soviets out there, and also their seperate heads system...could add flavor still by this^^

i also would invest time or money in building/modeling bottles for vodka more^^

I removed the machine gunners on the back and placed spare engines back there, and I even glued/greenstuffed GW Lascannons and auto cannon on them. BTW, I have been working on the write up for the other oddballs in my army.

T-61A5 fluff is done.

Been Seeking out oddball tanks, Tanky alien infantry @ 2010/12/31 21:21:30

Post by: shasolenzabi

So, for the wrap up to the year 2010, I present the fluff for the T-61A5 "Vasily" Tank Destroyer.

T-61A5 "Vasily" class Tank Destroyer
Type: Super-heavy
Weapons: Dual long-barreled Vanquisher Cannons, Twin-linked Heavy Bolter, Pintle mounted Heavy Stubber.
Special Equipment:Targetter system, laser range finder based. 2 x Imperial Fields.
Armor: Front=14, Sides=14, Rear=12
Structure Points: 3
Speed: Lumbering
BS: 4
Note: Amphibious
Crew: 8

Special note: The dual long ranged vanquisher cannons can fire simultaneously at separate targets, or if they fire as a single shot at one target, they can amplify the punch power to a D class hit against a Titan or other Super-heavy Vehicle.

A culmination of recovered documents and blue-prints both ancient and new, the Khadrovian Design Beaureau decided to name the new T-61A5 the "Vasily" in honor of a state hero, he is a noted tank killing veteran of the Khadrovian Iron Guard.

This massive metal monster is a tank hunter, just like the namesake, and has enough Vanquisher shells to kill entire armored companies. The Khadrovian forges have taken a large order for these, and production is anticipated at a staggering three of these a month!

The T-61A5 boasts room, the rediscovered targetters, cogitators, as well as A.B.C. (Atomic, Biological, and Chemical) shielding, as well as a internal water system(Yes, chilled water for the crew!) Enemies of the Emperor best beware!

The apparent low number of weapons points to it's role of long range sniper, killing tanks at staggering distances.

One enemy of the Emperor mistook the T-61A5 as a double barreled Earth-shaker, and took measures to avoid their tanks from being rained on by shelling from above by spreading out. Instead, this made them all clearer targets, and the enemy general was shocked to have his on vehicle disabled at great range with accurate, pin-point fire. The single T-61A5 then wrecked or destroyed no less than another five vehicles, giving it a half dozen kills before the enemy ordered a withdrawal!

Due to it's massive size, and ABC warfare capabilities, the T-61A5 is amphibious, allowing it to cross rivers without bridges as most cannot handle it's Bane-blade like mass.

I did, love me some tanks. I still grab a 1:35 tank model now and then just for fun. Ive been eyeballing the French LeClerc MBT for a while now...

The WWII style also fits 40k better than the modern stuff. Doesnt really matter for me though, Im not using them in 40K, just for building fun/shelf display.

Oh definitely! I was looking on You-tube for the older pre-war tanks and found te footage of the K-2 and Type-10 very like the Leclerc, whereas the Type 90 was a very Leopard II looking tank design, and the K1 looked like a little brother to the M-1A1/2 tanks.

WWII light tanks make great chimera to Leman Russ sized tanks. I have also seen Tigers at 1/35th scale turned into Ork Battle-wagons in the past. Modern designs, if desired for gaming, become Bane-blade scale monsters, as seen with the T-61A5 in the same terrain as the Akuyaku was posed in. Presently, I don't have the space to display 1/35th scale models, or I would have a massive collection like a tank museum would have!

Im a bit space limited as well. I only have 4 at the moment...a Tiger I, M4a4 Sherman, the Aku, and a Stug III. Ive got my 28mm Battletech Atlas and Mad Cat holding down either end of the shelf. I could probably squeeze in 2 more tanks...maybe only 1 if it was big.

Lumbering ??? what does you want us to think about that? i have some confusing ideas about that word in context with your tank here...

thats instant fluffy win here as you build up your fluff for your tanks on a new really tasty level^^

(Atomic, Biological, and Chemical) shielding, as well as a internal water system(Yes, chilled water for the crew!) Enemies of the Emperor best beware!

as a former ABC anti soldier i just can imagine i either would love or utterly hate that tank in my nearer vicinity...
The apparent low number of weapons points to it's role of long range sniper, killing tanks at staggering distances.

One enemy of the Emperor mistook the T-61A5 as a double barreled Earth-shaker, and took measures to avoid their tanks from being rained on by shelling from above by spreading out. cool fluffy part right here, thats a classy story and creates a respectful air for the tankhunter, that would be so cool to see that kind of rection in a real game...

Due to it's massive size, and ABC warfare capabilities, the T-61A5 is amphibious, allowing it to cross rivers without bridges as most cannot handle it's Bane-blade like mass.

i guess thats a good tribute to comon sense and logic to cover that in the specific rules for that monster of a tank...

NP Vik. Now for the Super-heavy Transport. Oh yeah, "Lumbering" allows a superheavy to move 6" and fire EVERYTHING!

BMD-100A1 "Sea Dragon"
Type: Super-heavy Transport
Weapons: Auto-cannon with Co-axial Heavy Stubber. Bow Heavy Stubber, 2xHeavy Stubber in turrets.
Armor: Front=13, Sides=13, Rear=12
Structure Points: 3
Transport Capacity: 35 infantry.
Speed: Lumbering
Special: Amphibious

[/img]
The Khadrovian BMD-100 was designed to get a platoon into position, doing the job of up to four Chimeras. It's more durable nature allows it to do so where Chimeras are somewhat more vulnerable to being knocked out in a single shot.

[/img]
The heavy front ramp is the only entry/exit point for the troops to assault from, and also was designed to absorb incoming shots(4+ save front arc only), protecting the vehicle from most attempts to knock it out.

This is what the Khadrovian Konfederacy has in lieu of Gorgon. The BMD-100 is cleared for mass production.
[/img]

[/img]

Man I really need to stop spilling coffee on my keyboard! But there is the "Sea Dragon" for viewing.

Post by: Viktor von Domm

now that i have a black keyboard there isn´t so many spots to be spotted anymore^^...

that looks really good...am i guessing right that the ramp is fixed? would be super cool to have it moveable...

so thats lumbering...slow, steady and dangerous...really i wouldn´t want to be facing your troops...so much pain stored in cans there^^

by the way, that weathering at the ladder on the side looks really cool and convincing...
and 35 men as load...ouch thats quite a force in the face of your enemy...good shot thats not that quick then, otherwise this would hurt with a striking guarantee...

vik

Been Seeking out oddball tanks, Tanky alien infantry @ 2011/01/04 03:37:12

Yeah, sadly the ramp is fixed, made from sheet panels and plastic tubes as hinge-works.

My troops get the best I can give them. Plenty of firepower to help on the attack!

Thanks, I really wanted to give the effect that many climbs with the harsh boots would make a mess of the paint, and then a little rusting occurs.^^

Well, I do have the standard tanks and transports as well, but those will be featured in a different thread one day. For now, I still have a couple of more oddballs to finish painting and post the pics with the fluff as well.

Okay, then this will test as well to see how good my skills are at recovering pics from Photo-bucket as they seem to have problems!

Class: T-290 "Bison"
Type: Superheavy tank
Weapons: 2 x Battlecannons(Independent), 4 x Sponson Heavy Bolters, 1 x Lascannon, 2 x Pintle mounted Heavy Stubbers.
Armor: Front=14, Sides=13, Rear=12
Structure Points: 2
Speed: Lumbering
Crew: 8

Notes:
Like it's larger competitor/companion the T-350, the T-290 also fills the heavy Support/Command role in the case of a Baneblade being lost, Like the T-350 can. it is also a good support to other tanks such as platoons of Leman Russ as well as infantry.

The T-290 can fire all of it's weapons independently, or use the battle-cannons in a barrage capacity like the T-350. Both vehicles have also been considered for turret variations such as the Vanquisher, Exterminator, Eradicator, Punisher, Annihilator, and Demolisher patterns either paired or in any combination. Such variable turret guns would mean a flexibility unseen in the Baneblade .

All of these proposals are being reviewed and debated by the Mechanicus for further testing and studying.

might i add a suggestion here? the upper turret doesnt look as if fully atteched, rather he looks as if just put there and a quick round about turn would get it spinning down the tank... i would add something that conects it better to the rest of the tank. also the "tower" for the turret could use some modeling love as well as it looks a bit flat with only one or two aquillas as it si now...

but aside from that i like the two sponson bolters on each side...its like a scythe against enemies...

and the raised viewpoint just screams to be used as hq^^ so there will hopefully more fulff when its finally done...

Been Seeking out oddball tanks, Tanky alien infantry @ 2011/01/04 23:23:28

Post by: shasolenzabi

I suppose that does look loose, I simply chopped apart a Leman Russ and placed the turret ring section on top of the tower. I do have a ladder on the right side of the tower and will show that once I dig him out for looking at. I promise. But yes, it is fully attached, as all would be with a Leman Russ, the angle shows how loose Leman Rings actually are. Now Tamiya kits are tight like a tiger!

It has seen battle, but so far all tests have been inconclusive as to whether it is a major winner as the Baneblade, it does work well at grabbing attention and being shot at!

And now, because it was all possible due to the Apoc Tank set of 10 Lemans for cheap, the T-350

T-350 "Tzar"
Type: Super-heavy Tank
Weapons: 3 x Battle cannons, 3 x Heavy Stubbers, 4 x Heavy Bolters, Lascannon, Optional: 3 x Hunter Killer Missiles.
Armor: Front=14, Sides=13, Rear=12
Structure Points: 3
Speed: Lumbering
Crew: 12

Notes: Due to concerns that the loss of Baneblades would greatly impact the land forces in a negative way, it was felt something else should exist to lessen that possible loss and still provide heavy support for the tank forces. This need created two successor designs in use by Khadrovian forces, and battle proven, the T-350, and the T-290 multiple-turret super-heavy tanks.

Thanks to it's design, it has been likened to a crawling battleship. The T-350 can fire up to all three of it's battle-cannons into a barrage of frightening proportions, or at three separate targets, based upon the captain's decisions. The T-350 may not be as venerable as the Baneblade, but over time it is proving to be a worthy enough successor.

The T-350 is manufactured and deployed alongside the two turret super-heavy T-290, which seems to complement the T-350, an unforeseen, but accepted developmental surprise.

Im going to be ordering one of these soon, like probably sunday.

If you do a google image search you can see some with a larger gun barrel. If it doesnt come in the kit it would be easy enough to customize.

I modified mine with an engine where the gunner is, and the GW weapons in place of the originals. Armored Sentinels, light "Stega-tanks" as they are.

There are some new vehicles coming from Antenicities Workshop, I really like them and am planning to get some to replace some of the the 8 wheelers I have. I'm currently using the same chassis as chimeras and Leman Russ so they will reduce confusion when using my Airmobile Guard.

Pretty much illustrates Apoc's "Tank riders" asset. But that is the one tank to mostly sit back and snipe others with.

Had to work at making things interesting Vik!^^

Nice APC Cap'nJ!

Mad4minis, i liked that heavy tank link as well.!

My High School German teacher told us his family was a bakery family Both Bakerei and Conditerei, I figured that I ought to take a hint and do some baking with tanks!

lol^^

so how long did you endure german lessons? from what i´ve heard german is a nasty language to learn speaking...
english is to my knowledge a bit more forgiving...and i just hated to learn french back in the days... now i think it would have been quite good to be a bit more willing in that department, languages take you on a journey...and if you don´t know any then your bound to stay at home...

Seems quite a few 25/28mm gaming scale tanks are from European companies.

I ordered the Old Crow Sabre today. Web site says up to 21 days to process and dispatch. Makes me think its a cast on demand company. Thats fine by me, in not in a huge hurry, besides it seems a couple weeks is common processing time for many European companies.

The Battlebuild tank I posted is available through the company website and they have a few listed on ebay. I may pick one of those up in a week or three as well.

I may take a trip to a big hobby shop about 30 min from me later today, just to see the selection of 1/48 armor.

Maybe pick up a 1/35 Centurion for my 1/35 collection too...

Vik, Thanks, it was about my very best I could state in German. All of the German-American friendship club wanted to practice their English, so we hardly got to speak German.

Mad4Minis, I wish we had such ability here in the States, we really need to get back to making things here, who knows what could be made then? and it would also stimulate jobs, and be nice to see wargame products that were stamped with "Made in America" even Warhammeproducts now say "Made in China"

i know how that feels when you try to learn or pratice a language and your helpful freind rely on you only to practise with you as a teach istead as a pupil...had that long ago with some greek exchange students who all wnated to speak german but i wnated to talk in english...

yup, i can only second that, so many things manufactured in the far east and we here and you there are downtrodden in a yellow wave...please bear in minde that i don´t want to raise anti chinese thoughts here, the chinese industry had lots of good years fairing on their own, now they are a massproducer in the whole world and one day this all will end very bad for all of us, east and west...

Yeah. It is just better for all nations to make things and compete! Instead, multinationals chase the cheapest possible workforce and strip out their facilities when they leave.

Anyway, I can't wait to now finish the present tanks and start working on the ones that I have that actually look like ships on land.

Da Warboss, those used to be made for Mutant Chronicles game Warzone, Those were Capital Corporation Orca "Battlesuits" Sadly Target Games, the maker went belly up and they are hard to find kits.

LOL! There will eventually be more, no worries, been going through Youtube and seeing also what tricks have been done to tanks. TR-85 in Romania is a upgraded T-55!

So many upgraded variants off of present designs. T-72 and T-80 upgraded to T-90 and T-95, China took them to Type 99, and the Western tanks also have simply been upgraded.

But no truly oddball modern designs since the Swedish S tank.

But yeah, My army is ready to invade nearby planets for the Emperor!
