The Uriah RPG is an interactive role-playing experience set in my homebrew Dungeons and Dragons campaign setting. The game uses my patented 'Pick a Number' system, which allows for more freedom than the A or B system.
CHARACTER CREATION
When making a character for the Uriah RPG, you must choose from the list of races, as well as a class from the class list. You start the game at 1st level, and at the apex of your career, you will reach level 100. Each new level earns you new abilities and skills. Okay, on to the race list.
RACES:
HUMAN RACES
Humans- Humans are the most populous of the intelligent races on Uriah, and are spread about across many kingdoms. The best and the worst are among them, from the gallant Knights of the Silver Circle, to the barbaric Krathites north of the Dragon's Teeth.
Johterim- The powerful warriors of Veska are dour and stout, they charge into battle with axe and shield in hand, eager to deal death to their enemies. Johterim distrust magic, save that of their shamans that harness the primal power of their totem animals.

ELF RACES
High Elves- The haughty High Elves are the most numerous of the elfish races, traveling from place to place after their home was destroyed in the Age of Ash by cruel fiends.
Grey Elves- The mysterious Grey Elves dwell high in the Godspine Mountains, trading with the dwarves and helping them drive out the mutant goblinoids that come up from the Warp Hills to the west.
Twilight Elves- Only recently returning to Uriah after their home was stolen away from them by the trickery of Kurtulmak, the god of the Kobolds, the Twilight Elves have reclaimed their home after the Age of Ash, and now seek to restore their bonds with their more haughty kin.
Dark Elves- The cruel Dark Elves were driven beneath the surface after a terrible civil war that saw mountains topple as powerful magic was loosed. They are rarely seen outside of their massive and dark cities beneath the earth, where they worship the Spider Goddess Lolth.
Wood Elves- The Wood Elves have dwelt in the Feywood for as long as anyone can remember, killing despoilers and invaders without mercy or impunity. Having been separated from their High Elf kin, they have grown xenophobic and savage, often raiding settlements for supplies.

DWARVEN RACES
Dwarf- The stout dwarves dwell in the mountains, doing battle with their hated goblinoid foe with axe and rune. Dwarves are always eager to lend a hand or an axe if the cause is worthy... and if they are promised fine ale.
Flamebeard Dwarf- The practically feral Flamebeards inhabit the plains of Veska, living a nomadic existence alongside the Johterim, with whom they trade. As their name suggests, their hair is a fiery red, and the warriors often cut it into a mohawk pattern, with which they slick with blood. Every Flamebeard has a special runic weapon that they will never part with, nor will they do battle without it.
Godspine Dwarf- The dwarves of the Godspine Mountains are arrogant and proud, believing themselves immune to the petty wars that rage below them. Their hair is universally stark white, and often coated with snow and ice from their homes.
Iron Dwarf- The cruel Iron dwarves dwell beneath, trading slaves to the dark elves and the kobolds.

HALFLING RACES
Halfling- The wandering folk travel about the world, selling their wares to those with enough coin. Halflings often rub shoulders with Ashanti merchants coming north from the Empty Space deep in the south.
Deep Gnomes- These diminutive humanoids battle against the kobolds in their underground kingdoms.

DRACONIC RACES
Kobolds- The small race of dragonkin dwell beneath the earth, fighting the deep gnomes in endless wars of attrition. Some kobolds venture to the surface, seeking respite from the endless wars beneath the surface. Naturally strong in magic, most of their kind become sorcerers or arcanists of some sort.

GOBLINOID RACES
Goblins- The cowardly goblins are often bullied into service to the orcs, where they serve as expendable troops and slaves. Sometimes, a goblin escapes the tribe, and makes a name for himself.
Night Goblins- A race of goblins created by the Dark Elves, the night goblins lurk in the deep, their pure white eyes hunting for prey. Theses grey-skinned creatures are larger and more intelligent then their smaller kin, often leading tribes of them into battle against the dwarves.
Orcs- The foul orcs populate every stretch of land on Uriah save Argoth, their endless green tide rolling over entire kingdoms. However, the orcs are too brutish and stupid to fully band together, for if they did, they could easily sweep the elves, dwarves, and humans from the world in a few generations.

MELEE CLASSES
Warrior- Fighters that take sword and shield into battle against their foes.
Special- Stances
Knight- The sworn defenders of a kingdom, knights sally out to slay their foes upon their steeds.
Special- Knight's Challenge
Barbarian- Savage warriors who fight with ferocity and abandon.
Special- Rage
Paladin- Brave and virtuous defenders of good, smiting their foes with holy power.
Special- Smite
Blackguard- The opposite of paladins, the blackguard is a monster who ends lives simply because he can.
Special- Unholy Favor

RANGED CLASSES
Ranger- Archers and scouts that pick off foes with a flurry of arrows before they are even aware of them.
Special- Ranged Expertise

STEALTH CLASSES
Rogue- Stealthy thieves and pickpockets that are experts of being unseen.
Special- Sneak Attack
Assassin- Cold hearted killers that kill for money, sport, or both.
Special- Death Attack

ARCANE CLASSES

Special- Power in the Blood
Necromancer- Foul arcanists that raise the dead with their dark magic, forcing them to do their bidding. No town will willingly admit a necromancer into their borders, and they are primary targets for the witch hunters and inquisitors.
Special- Animate Dead
Defiler- Masters of black magic, defilers can cripple foes with a word and a gesture, even tearing away any magical protection they may posses. Defilers however lack offensive magic, and must rely on their companions to protect them.
Special- Defile
Wizard- Mages who have access to a gamut of spells, they are the most versatile of all the arcane classes.
Special- Versatile
Bard- Using magically empowered song to aid their allies, bards are always welcome in a party. ROLEPLAYING NOTE: If you are playing a bard, you MUST write a short little diddy when you use your bardic music.
Special- Bardic Music
Jester- The opposite of bards, jesters belittle their foes with insults, making them lose their heads in anger, making them reckless. ROLEPLAYING NOTE: If you are playing a jester, you MUST create an insulting poem appropriate for the situation when you use your belittle ability.
Special- Belittle

DIVINE CLASSES
Cleric- Servants of the gods, clerics act as instrument for divine power, healing their allies and cursing their foes. ROLEPLAYING NOTE: If you are playing a cleric, you MUST pick a god or gods to worship (gods are described later). You MUST also write out the words of your blessing or curse.
Special- Blessings/Curses
Druid- Keepers of the woods and steward of the creatures that live there, druids are the epitome of primal magic.
Special- Animal Shape

Requirement- Member of a melee class.
Special- First Glory, Then Death!
Whisperknife- Shadowy assassins that can kill even the most protected marks.

Special- One Strike, One Death.

GODS
Vulismerew- The goddess of agriculture, healing, and fertility.
Sade- Trickster god who enjoys playing good natured tricks on his fellow gods.
Gaia- The earth mother is revered by most druids.
Krath- Demonic god of wickedness and sin. Krath once tried to steal the power of the other gods, but failed and was imprisoned. He later escaped in a cataclysm known as the Age of Ash that saw whole kingdoms swept into oblivion. He was later imprisoned again by Sade's twin brother Olidimara, but the act cost him his life.
Merik- God of torture, was slain in the Age of Ash by Kord, god of strength, but his clerics claim he is only sleeping.
Gog- Monstrous god of monsters who exists only to devour.
Malleus- Greedy god of the dead, he utilizes necromancers as his priests.
Gendle- Son of the slain sun god Pelor, Gendle seeks to spread order and justice across the cosmos.
Morbus- Twisted deity of pestilence and disease, his clerics often disguise themselves as plague doctors to spread his 'gifts' to other villages.
Fornan- Just warrior god and believed to be the first paladin.
Thorgil- Savage battle god who is worshipped by the Johterim.
Wr-Thiysolp- Insane chaos god that creates and destroys without rhyme or reason.
Fate- God of prophesy, he appears as a tauric spider, weaving the strands of fate in a great web.
Krenil- God of the dead and sworn enemy of Malleus.

ACTIONS
To perform an action, simply type in what you wish to do. Magic works in the same way, use flavor text to describe the nature and purpose of the spell. Magic and combat always requires a pick a number test, often from 1 to 10.

I'm going to run an intro adventure for you until I get some more players.

Dezranze stands in the Killer's Quarter in the dark elven city of Var'arth, the smell of blood and fear choke the streets. He enters the door to the Blood Square, where aspiring assassins and whisperknives test their skills against each other in mortal combat. Already, several elven corpses already lay upon the stone flags, slain by quick cuts by their fellow students. Above it all sits K'llien, the cruel Weaponsmaster and leader of the Whisperknives, smiling each time an apprentice falls. "Ah, Dezranze! Come, you must join us! Show use your skill with the blade. I trust Vthien didn't raise a weakling?" He gestures to the square, it's clear he won't let you leave without a fight.

Groping blindly through the tunnels that he once traversed with ease, Zork crawled on his hands and knees, nursing his hatred and angst. How dare they? All he had ever done was for the betterment of his race! It mattered not that he experimented on his kin, their sacrifices would aid in the war against the hated gnomes. The Council in their small-mindedness had stripped him of his power and gouged out his eyes with cruel needles. He was driven out into the Underdark, left to fend for himself. With little magic he had left, he could sense great power nearby, but then recoiled. Dark Elves. The monolithic city of Var'arth stood before him and his blind eyes. His tribe had traded with them over the years, but the elves looked down on the kobolds with contempt. Still, if he was to regain his magic...

Zork steps lightly, avoiding the first few sentries, but upon entering the Killer's Quarter, he is grabbed from behind a smiling dark elf. "My, my, my, a kobold. Shouldn't you be in the Slave Quarter, where you belong?" He kicks the kobold, sending him skidding across the flags as he laughs. As he tries to stand, the dark elf plants his heel at the base of Zork's neck. "Ah, ah, ah, I want to have a little sport with you." The kobold feels searing pain as a serrated dagger carves into the scaly skin of his forehead. "See, you're my slave now! Go on, bow to me! Call me master!" He laughs, tossing the sorcerer across the street to collapse in a heap.

The sun beat down Otto and his band as they escorted the Ashanti merchant through the burning sands of the Empty Space. It might have been more worthwhile if there was something to look at, mused Otto. The desert was empty, nothing to see but windswept dunes and the occasional lizard. He wiped his brow, this was one of the worst jobs he had ever taken. At least the odd bandit or two would help make things interesting, but this... His thoughts were shattered by a cry from the caravan. "Skinweavers!" Men clad in crude armor and wielding curved blades were charging over the dunes, their attack causing the merchant to weep in fear. As they drew closer, Otto realized their namesake; every single Skinweaver had a human face drawn over their own like a grotesque mask.

Otto brushed back his warrior's topknot and wiped sweat from his broad jutting brow, surveyed the terrain looking for possible escape routes should it come to that. He glanced around at the caravan, removing his leather and iron battle-glove from his sword hand so as to free up more fingers with which to count. As he steadied his charger, Otto checked back at the cowering merchant, and the rest of the caravan, attempting to assess whether their numbers were enough. "Numbers..." mused Otto, "hrmph. Perhaps if they were all stalwart men of Plugh I could count them better, but this snivelling merchant might count as a half a finger?". We wiggled his pinkey finger as he unsheathed his sword and glanced around at the reactions of the others.

Otto of Plugh:
Human Warrior
Big horse, big sword, big bow, big guy, wandering sword for hire from a ruined frontier settlement off to make a new life after his home was destroyed by marauding monsters.

Otto starts doing what Otto does best. I pick number 1.

Wielding a massive sword and spurring his horse around, Otto lost count at three, or was it four, as he charged at the savages. He mumbled curse at the gods who never hear him anyway, a stoic mocking chiding for letting him wind up in such a mess as he brought his blade down towards the nearest raider with a sigh.

Otto whirls about, cutting a Skinweaver in twain, before reversing his grip and smashing the hilt into another's face. The rest of the caravan is faring poorly, half of the turbaned guard cut down by savage killers. A Skinweaver with a great circular banner of flayed skin and wicker charges at Otto with a large cleaver like blade with an incoherent cry of rage. Ah, a worthy foe at last.

Uriah RPG @ 2011/01/27 02:22:05

Post by: yeenoghu

Otto's disciplined warrior instinct led him to a split second change to a defensive stance. Recognizing the furiosity of the savage's unruly charge, he prepared to focus on deflecting the wild blow of this attacker with the expectation that his opponent would unbalance himself, leaving an opening for counter attack which Otto intended to exploit.

I pick number 5

The Skinweaver chief is faster than Otto expects, and the great weapons collide in a shower of sparks. The chief snarls, his rotten teeth showing through the face of an Ashanti child. Suddenly, he slams his fist against the side of Otto's head, ringing his ear. Retaliating with the end of his sword, Otto slams the hilt into the side of the chief's head, causing to stumble. Exploiting the opening, Otto thrusts his blade deep into the Skinweaver, burying it up to the hilt.

Too close for a proper swing, Gorek punches the dwarf with a ham sized green fist, and he feels bones break and give way beneath his blow. The Flamebeard stumbles back, allowing the massive orc to smash the dwarf's arm with the massive iron bludgeon. He stumbles back, grunting in pain before heaving himself back at Gorek. This time, Gorek is ready, and swings the mace in an undercutting motion, catching the Flamebeard under the chin, and sending his head flying.

Running back to the Killer's Quarter, the kobold darts into an ally to hide, the demon forced to retreat back to the barrier after it reached the end of it's astral cord. Otto gets a massive rush of bravado from his kill. Encouraged that he is indeed, the superior warrior to these savages, he wrenches his sword free from the champion's bowels, holding the limp body upright by its head, he decapitates the corpse and, with a mighty roar of challenge, flings its head towards the nearest group of raiders harrying his employer's wagon, hoping to catch their attention. He picks up the fallen banner of flayed skin and waves it for all to see before casting it to the ground and taking up his broadsword and advancing menacingly upon them. Otto's blood is up now, and it can be seen on his face that he is not at all frightened of this vermin.

The rest of the voyage takes all of several months, finally ending as the caravan reaches the Veskan plains. The Johterim are large swarthy men that wear their weapons proudly and openly. They greet the caravan with open arms and pay good coin for the goods they receive. The merchant departs after paying Otto and his band a hefty sum for his safe arrival. After staying at a local alehouse, Otto hears of the recent Ork attacks occuring on the eastern borders of Veska.

Otto decided to spend some time in town learning about any helpful rumors about this orc menace, and if any caravans are headed that way. He is generous with his money, making sure his horse is under the best care, and freely buying rounds for other travellers at the alehouse. There will always be more coin to be earned, he thinks to himself. He thought to asses his situation, get to know the locals, decide whether or not to go there alone or if any other adventurers are about who are considering the same course as he. If he should go alone, he decides he should know the way, how far it is, how much to pack, any well known stops along the way or warnings about the route he should take, and make sure his mighty steed is well rested. Otto's head spins from ale, and this attempt at organization without a commander to tell him what to do is taxing to his mighty mind.

Gorek searches about the field for the Flamebeard's head, shaving off his beard and adding it to the collection of grisly trophies on his belt. Surveying the plain, he sees that he is the last surviving member of his band. Remembering the message that his band recieved before they sallied out to raid the Flamebeard's lands; Bahg Dwarfjaw was assembling the tribes of the Dragon's Teeth to muster at the fortress of Orcholde, where he planned to lead a great green tide over the pinkie kingdoms, raiding and feasting until the pinkies had been driven into the sea.

After many days of drunken inquiry, Otto learns of the great orcish muster at Orcholde in the Dragon's Teeth Mountains, led by Warboss Bahg Dwarfjaw, the orcs had gathered in the thousands, drawn by promises of death and plunder. The forces of the Silver Circle have rallied at Grey Peak, where the Godspine met the Dragon's Teeth, over six thousand of that order's warriors had gathered for a preemptive strike on Orcholde, and they promised riches and glory to any that accompanied them into battle. It is whispered by the priests of Fate that something darker is holding the orcs together, using them a bludgeon to soften up Uriah for something more sinister.

Gaz looked down from his perch in the Dragon's Teeth, orcs teemed in their thousands, at least a dozen tribal banners flapped in the wind. Gaz named each banner with ancient hatred, Black Anvil, Gutzmangul, Scaldfist, Bludtoof, Bad Teef, Rock Eatas... the list whent on, many of these orcs loathed each other, and would often slay each other on sight, but under the watchful gaze of Warboss Bahg Dwarfjaw, none dared for fear of incurring his wrath. Tribes of ogres and groups of trolls were also present, their mighty frames clad in crude iron armor, each spiked with tribal fetishes and war trophies. This was a muster unlike any before, and the fortress of Orcholde was teeming with the greenskins, their numbers filling the ancient orcish fort with their sweaty bodies. Gaz was to report his findings to the rest of the dwarven scouting party, but as he made to return to camp, he saw a pair of beady eyes looking at him from the darkness. Goblins, scouts or watchmen, they had seen him, and they made to run.

"A battle, eh? He rides at dawn to Greypeak, to meet this Silver Circle, just before first light, with a full belly, acheing head, and a much lighter purse to travel with.

After arriving at an eccentric wizard's hut, and recieving a teleport to Grey Peak, Otto is assailed by hundreds of flapping banners, and thousands of suits of glittering mail. After being directed to the mercenary camps at the outskirts of the main Silver Circle camp, Otto breaks bread with the other soldiers of fortune. Shifty-eyed Arendians wrestled with powerfully built Skaldians, Thaneish havoc mages swapped spells with Carnorian sorcerers, and Otto felt right at home. After several days of drinking and feasting, the host was called upon to hear the leader of the expedition speak on the eve of battle. Confessor Isaac was a tall man dressed in the garb of a Krenilian Knight, his gold and sable armor polished until it shined, a massive, rune-etched warhammer he held over his shoulder. A young mustatioed Tyrican held the Silver Circle banner, his silver plate glimmering in the dawn-light. "Today we burn the foul greenskin in his own home, smite him with fire and purity! They seek to destroy the race of men, but we march into their own halls to see that he never makes this expedition! Warriors of the Silver Circle, march to war!"

The opening moves of the Siege of Orcholde stayed with the orcs for many hours, and the Silver Circle feared that they could not assail it's walls with force of arms. Then, Confessor Isaac led the charge from the fore, and smashed open the Orcgate with his blessed hammer. Then, Warboss Pinkmaula of the Biggutz tribe strode out to the Orcgate, smashing the Silver Circle back with his huge axe. Isaac himself was felled by a might blow from the crude weapon, but his standard bearer, the Tyrican named Manfred, slew the orc with his cold iron longsword, allowing the Silver Circle to enter the first ring of the orcish fortress. Now the Silver Circle was holed up in the ring, unable to bring their full forces through the small gates built for use by goblins, but if a small party was to enter, then they could open the gate from the inside... This is where Otto stands now, in the flame charred ruins of the first ring of Orcholde.

Nero sat among the rest of the apprentices in the Hall of Blood and Bone, Bonesage Karil addressed them from a podium of animated, writhing elf flesh, that cried out piteously from time to time. "Students of the dark arts, you have served me and your god well throughout your training, and the Corpsecrafter has presented us with a task. Great necromantic power has been felt running throughout the Dragon's Teeth above, centered on the fortress of Orcholde. The orcs are not known to practice such magic, and you have been instructed to discover the source of the energy flow. You will be teleported from here shortly via the waystones in the lobby. You will work in teams of three, with a leader chosen from amongst yourselves. You may begin." Nero finds himself paired with the sharp-tongued N'varil, and the ravishing Monleiel, it's obvious both will select themselves to be team leader. After teleporting through the green flame of a waystone, Nero and his team find themselves outside the walls of Orcholde, the ugly squat fortress surrounded by warriors in glittering mail. Nero sneered; the Silver Circle had come calling. The Bonesage had not lied, the air practically stank of necromancy.

Otto approaches one of the Silver Circle captains with a brilliant idea in mind. One, he thinks, may not have occured to his commanders. Ever the helpful and straightforeward sort, he pardons his intrusion into the command tent.

"If we could make our way through the goblin tunnels, a small band of raiders may be able to achieve the gate from the inside my lord. A small band, haha! I should fit right in!" booms Otto. After a pause, assuming the lack of laughter meant that it was only he that understood his jest, he introduced himself. "I am Otto, formerly of the mighty fortress of Plugh far across the wastes and I am no stranger to fighting orcs. Perhaps if one of our dwarven kin could help lead me through these tiny passages, we could have the gate open from the other side. I didn't bring my dinnerware for nothing, he says, drawing a long, broad bladed dirk from its sheath in his boot. Otto's inpulsive side gets the better of him for once. He wondered how long the dwarven party had been gone. The captains all seemed so busy keeping order and drawing out their battle plans, and may just be waiting for their scouts to return. What if the scouts do not return? What if they ran into some terrible fate while the mighty force arrayed at the gate waits? Otto grows irritated of the waiting and decides to venture a short ways into the Goblin tunnels, just a short trek, he thinks to himself, just to check...

The going will be difficult, having to stoop or crawl, but with his long dagger in hand, a bag of bread crumbs to retrace his path, and an oil lamp to see with, he cautiously advances through the small opening into the narrow twisting tunnels. Around his waist is tied a rope, to which his pack is attached, dragging a few feet behind him so he can move in the narrow confines more easily. Stealth does not occur to the big man, as he is rather obvious to begin with, carrying a lantern in the dark tunnels. The backpack makes clattering and scraping noises on the stone, but, better to fit through the gaps than having it on his back. Otto is pleased with his mighty cunning for coming up with such a brilliant solution to his size problem.

Otto slithers through the tunnels, making enough noise to raise the dead and make the deaf hear. Smacking his head on a protruding rock and swearing like a lunatic, Otto turns to see a rather stunned goblin staring at him slack-jawed, before letting out a scream and running down the tunnel.

Hmmm... pesky little things... can't quite chase after him can I? Can't throw my knife either, no room to raise my arm... Oh well, perhaps he is going to get his friends... I'd best move quick so I can get to a place where I can at least stand up... I know the Orcs can't move in here any better than I, so they can't be far ahead.

More goblins now enter through the hole, armed with crude swords and short spears.

His companion smiles, and silently, pulls out a garrote wire, and with inhuman speed, slides it over the assassin's head, and begins to strangle him with the fine cord. He lowers him to the ground, not lightening the pressure on his victim's neck until he stops kicking. Then, he cuts you down from the trap. "So then little friend, we are going to play a game called 'how can I open the gate?', sounds like fun then, yes? The rules are simple. We are going to go for a walk, see? You are going to give me a clue! If I get a good clue and I can find the gate, I won't have to come back here and get one of your friends to play instead. Of course, I won't be able to carry both you and your friend, so I shall have to find something to do with you, if I need to play again."
He nudges another of the bound unconscious goblins with his foot. "This one may want to play instead if you don't like the game? No? Sounds like a fun game to me my friend. Let's get started then!"

Otto gets up with his full-sized sword drawn. "ahh.. good to be able to stand up straight again! Sometime's I envy you wee folk." Otto remarks. He hefts the bound goblin over his shoulder in one arm and adds, "wait, no I don't. I hope you don't mind the ride, I would hate to lose my new friend in these little tunnels again."

...and with that, and his new found weapon/friend, Otto sets forth to find the gate control levers (or wheel, or whatever it is orcs use to open gates).

"You fooled me again Gods! Which one of you do I have to thank for the sausage? hahaha"....

Stepping out into the musky air of the First Ring, you can see a startled pair of orcs in the process of kicking a goblin about in a cruel game of soccer, they roar, and draw blades as they charge Otto.

"Flail! stay there!" roars Otto as he casts aside his bound up burden and wields his sword in a wide two-handed arc as he bounds foreward. Rather than standing to meet their attack defensively he charges headlong into the orcs, hoping to shock them with his overbearing rush.

"Run, and tell no one of what has transpired, or you shall feel my wire as well." He then runs into the darkness.

[gaz might want to read this too]
The massive warrior recovers, off-balanced by his own devastating swing, spins around with his sword held high to meet another attacker, and stops. A moment passes as he stares, startled by the newcomer who had just entered through the tunnel behind him.
"I wasn't aware I was followed. And here I thought I was being so quiet." He jests.

"oh. You look as surprised as I must look! Haahaa. It's you isn't it? were you part of the scouting party? Nice to see a face that isn't ugly and green finally."

The big man strides across the room towards a tied up Goblin, wiping his sword clean of green ichor and nudging the lower half of an orc corpse with his foot as he passes it, as if to make sure it's really dead. "heh heh. Half-orc." he grunts. "Never trusted half-orcs. Haha!"

He picks up the bound Goblin over his shoulder and turns back to the newcomer.
"Forgive my manners, I am Otto of Plugh, and this," he lightly taps the half-conscious goblin on the head with the flat of his broadsword, "this is my friend Flail. He is so friendly he is helping me play a game called 'which way to the gate'. Would you care to play? It's great fun, isn't it Flail? I'll even let you have the first turn since you are new to the game! Go ahead and ask Flail, 'where's the gate?'.

He turns to Flail, all trace of humor gone from his broad face, "remember little one, there are plenty of others who can play this game too. Be careful when you answer him or I will have to find a new player."

Otto smiles, a rather intimidating smirk more than a smile. "I would hate to have to find someone else to play my game, not when we are becoming such great friends, Flail. So be very careful when you answer the man."

"So, that's settled then, would you care to ask him?" Otto asks the newcomer.

You can hear a sniffing sound, and then the creatures begin to speak to each other in a language you do not understand.
"Shas, guthul chk baa! Nath! Nath!"
"Has, sha nuln"
Whatever they are, they're nearing your hiding place.

You lift the pyramid from the dirt, and find yourself tracing the eldritch runes with your slender fingers, feeling the deep contours and grooves. Suddenly, your mind is overwhelmed by strange images;

Two great armies facing off across an endless black field, a God-King blasting his foes with powerful magic while a Vampire lord hurls gobbets of flaming meat at his opponent. Suddenly, a purple-black cloud settles over the field, and a terrible, malignant entity takes shape, and the God-King attempts to harness it's energy for himself, pulling it in with hooks of green force. He appears to succeed, his body smoking, and swaying back and forth in the wind. Then, in a cataclysmic explosion of purple fire, both armies are destroyed, and the man is reduced to a charred skeleton, with a lavender flame burning within his ribcage. He rights himself, and looks about, knowing he would have wept if the dead could weep. He begins to walk, to wander, with no purpose or drive. A great sadness settles over you as he teleports away, leaving huge, jagged runes emblazoned upon the ground, burned there for all eternity.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aY5NCaXvIWs&feature=related
You suddenly feel yourself falling, as though dropped from a great height. Snapping your eyes open, you find that you are, in fact, falling from a great height. You fall through endless banks of grey, stormy clouds, that promise no rain, but only destruction. As you pass the clouds, you can see an endless black field, with lines of petitioners being driven back and forth by cruel demodands with lashes in hand. Great towers of iron jut from the dark earth, piercing the endless clouds with their zeniths. Then you look directly down. You land, hard, on what appears to be a floating ruin, great chunks of an ancient fortress are connected by iron chains, strange crystals are lashed to the stone as well, shedding a eerie green light onto the masonry. You push yourself up, and find yourself in a ruined great hall, tapestries depicting heros of yore are battered and torn, fluttering in the wind like lost flags. You are alone now, your band left far behind. You feel immensely sad, though the reason for such melancholy is lost to you.

Back in the cavernous chamber where he had slain the guards and met his new companion, his enormous hand curls slowly into a fist. Otto turns away from Gaz and sets down the little bound goblin propped against a wall. He addresses Flail with an ugly glare:

"I have given you a long time to speak Flail. This silent treatment hurts my feelings. Give me a reason we should still be friends? Rest assured, I will be fine , although I would regret losing my new friend, I'm sure I will move along in life. Move along to the gate that is, it would just take a while longer to find it. But think of the joy and the bonding should we find it together? We would be hailed as HEROs Flail for helping save the day! So what is it? Friends still, or are you going to continue with this silent treatment? Well? I'm waiting, and my companion here is getting bored with this game... Don't you want to be a hero too?"

Hey guys,

I've lost interest in this thread, and as such, I'm going to put it on indefinite hiatus until I feel the spark again. I'd like to personally thank darksage, yeenoghu, shroud010, shas'ui t'au kais, and vulkan hestian for staying with me to the end. No, you know what? Screw that! If any of you fine chaps want to take over this thread,, do so! I don't want Uriah to die, so send me a PM, and I'll fill you in on the world of Uriah itself. If one of you takes on the mantle of Dungeon Master, I'll roll a character and join in.

Cheers,

Mordo

Post by: Tyranic Marta

Name- Tyranic Marta

Race- Human - Abrantian

Class- Knight

Place of Birth- Abrantias A place hidden by a mountain range at the far north of the world. The Knights of Abrantias travel far and wide seeking to aid the men and women of the world and save them, or help them save themselves, against the darkness of the deathlands. The source of Necromancy.

Life Story- Tyranic Like all Abrantians began life simply, but like all Abrantians was born into a household of Honour and trust. And so he grew up in comfort, not harshness, training himself to become the best there is. He befrended a young traveller by the name of Ludias and the pair of them fought one anouther when they sparred, trained one with anouther and encouraged the other to reach the pinaccle of his abilities. Soon they were hunting in the mountains killing goblins, Orks, Trolls, anything that stood in their way. Ludias was the son of a trader, who abandoned Ludias into the care of Tyranic's perants. So the pair grew up as brothers but Ludias was never privy to the same rights a s a Blooded Abrantian. This diddnt bother him in the slightest because of the trust that they all showed him. It had nothing to do with them not liking him. It was simply old magic that couldnt be broken. Ludais accepted this and began to live in the mountains when he was older. It was here that Tyranic would often go to train and soon he hardly came back. The Abrantians saw the benifits of Allowing Tyranic to train high up in the mountains. It would inure him to the hardships of the world. And so when he killed his first orc. High up in the Gaia's ring mountains he had noone around him but his Friend. And so they bonded more closley with every passing victory. Thus when Tyranic's 18th Birthday rolled around and he was a perfect specimen of what a Abrantian should be, he was more than ready, because of the companionship of Ludias. He was Strong, Brave and more to the point, ready to step out into the harshness beyond the mountains. He and his Surrogate Brother were given Armour, true weapons and Horses. They trekked out of the mountains for many months. They knew them better than anyone but even for them the journey was difficult. This was a test of the Abrantians, anyone who was not able to beat the elements should not try to beat death. Eventually they reached the foothills around the mountains and waiting for them was a city. The City of the Freetrade Abrantians. Here warriors would come to learn about what the Abrantian goal was. To protect Uriah from the evils of the Deathlands. The source of Necromantic magic. Tyranic trained Long and HArd in the banishment of Undead and even in the fighting of Daemons. Soon he was a formidable warrior, his light plate armour was covered in runes detailing his life and his knights helm had a lateral crest, sweeping from one ear to the other over the top of his skull. The Crest was made of Steel and was etched with a single rune. That of the Destroyer. An Ancient Deity who Tyranic had dedicated his Martial life to. The Destruction of all that stood in the way of the light.

At his 30th yeah Tyranic And Ludias were more than ready to leave the City of Freetrade Abranitans. Known as Mountains edge. While Tyranic had been training for his role as a Knight Ludias had taken on a slightly different profession. That of a mercanary. He had trained himself in the use of The heaviest of Armours and in the use of great Maces and crossbows. He was a force to be reckoned with wielding his now trademark twin Spire Maces. Ludias had however become darker than his friend. His soul slowly being currupted by the darkness that only Abrantians could resist this close to the roof of the world. Tyranic knew this and soon he was forced to perform and Exorcism on Ludias's soul. It lasted years, the two of them locked in a silent battle of wills. Their fire had died out long ago and their horses Fled. The two were sustained not by food but by the energy of the other. Ludias knew that he had to be purged and he willingly accepted the Exorcism. The two became a pilgramige for the holy knights of the Abrantian Order. The ultimate act of Penace to find these two warriors amidst the cold wastes of the world.

In Tyranics 45th Year he appeared back in the circle of Knights sweeping Uriah helping the innocent. Many asked him where his freind was but he would not answer.

Appearance/Attitude/Mood/Mannerisms: Tyranic has pure white hair, a the genetic fallout from living in the place that sees the most snowfall in Uriah. His ancestors ong ago having evolved the colouration for stealth in the snowy wastes. His ice blue eyes and pale skin make him look almost wraithlike but his heart is as pure as moutain water. He is a quiet man who speaks with a soft tone of voice and only when he feels the need to speakhis mind on matters that require his attention. He is a natural leader this coming from his upbringing and dislikes taking orders from others not his superior in his Order.

He has a powerful Physique this being required to wear the plate armour that he now bears. This armour is ornate while still practical, a throwback to the Times when Abrantians were more aristocrat than warrior. His armour has been designed with the specific purpose of resisting the attacks that undead seem to favour, heavy armour piercing blows. Thus his armour is actually two layers of Starlight Steel. that link togethr and are very difficult to pierce. The runes adorning his armour are purely decorative but indeed make him an intimidating foe. His Helm adds to this effect with the crest adorning it and the faceless visage that it is. Many will run in fear before attacking the Massive knight.

His Bastard sword is about 4 1/2 feet long with a long handle and an ornate crossguard shaped like the wings of a mountain Eagle. Theat arch up towards the blade. His Gothic Shield is a strong triangel adorned with yet more runes, but these are of warding against magic and necromancy. His body itself is scarred with runes and engravings etched by the priests and clerics of his order and it can resist more magic than an ordainary human should be able to.

Equipment- Bastard sword, Gothic Shield, Plate Armour
