Adding another RP to the pile, one of a kind that i have run on other forums with great success. Here's hoping Dakka likes it too.
Remember: this is only the Recruitment Thread, posts here are to be expressions of interest, character sheets and their discussion and where questions about the RP are asked. A Shared Dream
For centuries mankind had looked up to the night skies in wonder and awe, naming the Constellations, watching the silent dance of planets and moons, and dreaming that one daythey could swim amongst them in the infinite void of space.
Mankind’s first steps into space were crude and infrequent. Fuelled more by internal bickering and posturing than any desire for genuine advancement of their people, many astounding leaps of discovery and invention soon ignored in favour of the next one. Their landing on the moon, merely a few decades after inventing powered flight, was cast aside as trivial as Mars became the next target for competing nations to aim for.
It wasn’t until Europe federated in 2018, and led by France combined the resources of all it’s former independent nations, and founded the first lunar colony within sight of where Neil Armstrong had placed mankind’s first footprint on the dust, that mankind realised the potential of a race united with one purpose. Two years later, within the confined main hall of Lunar Base Joan D’arc, Representatives from every nation on Earth’s surface signed the Human Systems Alliance charter and pledged their country’s support in colonising the wider galaxy. For the first time in it’s history, Humanity stood united under a shared dream, the Human Systems Alliance was born.
Although united under a mutually elected government, the nations of earth was still allowed a certain level of independence, their existing governments where slotted into an overarching hierarchy with few problems, each elected an ambassador to represent them on the council and were allowed to pursue their own projects to colonise space, provided they obeyed the laws and directives of the Alliance and shared their findings freely with the entire planet.
Space ship technology advanced in leaps and bounds, in 2045, England’s HMS Queen Victoria landed on mars, its prototype Ion drive propelling it across the vast gulf between planets at a fraction of the time it had taken earlier probes. In 2092, Japanese and German scientists perfected an energy shield generator that rendered anything within its protective bubble almost immune to projectiles. 2102 saw the perfection of Terra-forming tech by America, and by 2105 the first trees were planted under open sky on Martian soil. 2120 was the birth year of the ship-mounted rail gun, developed by Germany as a way of destroying asteroids or other solid objects that could breach a ship’s shield, and it’s use as an offensive weapon was realised immediately.
Aware of the possible dangers the galaxy could contain, the Alliance Navy was formed, its members plucked from around the world, and trained in orbit above the world of their birth. Their ranks swelled as colony after colony was founded across the solar system, and thousands of eager men and women flocked to defend their new homes. Hundreds of dull grey ships prowled the solar system, ensuring that everyone remember the union that had allowed them to get even this far into space.
It has been over a hundred years since the Alliance Navy was formed, and mankind has spread far amongst the stars. You are an Officer-Cadet of this proud organization, training for six years to command your own ship, explore, defend and command the cosmos. Now, as your final days at Fort Norton Academy draw near, you eagerly await the awarding of your ceremonial sword and the ship that comes with it.
Here are the ground rules.
- the fleet will consist of 9 ships within the class outlines below.
-I will have the final say on the effectiveness of all attacks.
-try to write your posts like a story.
Players take the role of a soon to be graduated Ship Captain and have control over their ship and all crew, attached Marine or strike craft teams, which they will name and equip according to the class guidelines i will lay out, and will engage other ships and strike craft squadrons.
Ships consist of Four parts, engines, hull, hardpoints and shields.
Engines
Engines can be attacked to cripple the ship and prevent it from moving. This damage can be repaired.
Hull
Hull is the main body of the ship and will be targeted first unless the player firing the weapon chooses another point. Hull strength (or Health) is equal to the number of hard points the ship has) If the Hull is too heavily damaged, the ship will be destroyed. Minor repairs are possible during battle.
Sheilds
Shields are defensive energy fields capable of defecting anti-ship fire and energy weapons, but can be bypassed entirely by strike craft and torpedoes.
Each ship has a shield strength equal to their hardpoint total, when these are gone the hull itself starts to take damage. Shields regenerate to half strength if the ship takes no damage for a round, then to full after two rounds.
Marines and Strike-craft squadrons Marines provide internal ship security and perform boarding/counter-boarding actions.
Strike craft squadrons come in three types and are limited to one type per launch bay. Strike-craft operate as independent characters when deployed, their combat post are considered separately from their mother-ship, but they must return to re-arm after making an attack, successful or not.
Strike-craft types: Interceptors: (Seven Per Squadron) Excel against other strike craft and torpedoes, yet can't touch capital ships.
Bombers: (five per squadron) Slower and less maneuverable that Interceptors, these carry short range butpoweful Plasma Missiles that can even wound dreadnoughts, they lack any ability to defend themselves for interceptors however.
Strike-Fighters. (five per squadron.) the jack of all trades of strike-craft, can engage any target, yet are less effective at either role.
Hardpoints.
These are the weapons and advanced systems of the ship, each class has a limited number of these and can equip whatever weapons the captain wants selected from a list.
Point Defences. These fast-tracking weapons are ideal for destroying fast moving strike craft and torpedos. but they lack the power and range to damage other ships.
Flack Cannon: Powerful Anti Strike craft weapon. Inaccurate but will shred any strike craft hit by the blast.
Launch Bay(One of each type per ship only. Carriers can have as many as desired.) Strike craft and Transports launch and re-arm here.
Heavy Cannon: The most basic anti-ship weapon. Moderate Range, Moderate power, Moderate Accuracy. Cannot target Strike craft.
Torpedo Tube: Powerful Anti-ship weapon, Very long range but it's torpedoes take one round to reach their target and can be shot down by strike craft or point defences.
Ion Cannon (Batteships, Destroyers and dedicated Frigates only)(takes up two slots) Extremely accurate Anti ship weapon. limited range, high power. (note) any Frigate with this hard point will automatically assign it's reaming Hard points to cooling and power systems. Battleships and destroyerswill assign one other per cannon.
ESM Pod. grants greater accuracy to the ship and to nearby allies. can detect stealth ships within a certain range. Multiple pods within a fleet increase detection range
Ion Cannon Coolant Pod Has no function, can be destroyed to increase Ion Cannon Recharge time.
Bridge (Will not take up a hardpoint): the command and control center of the ship. if destroyed the ship counts as crippled.
Ship Classes
Note: Maximum of two player battleships/carriers, given on a first-come fist-serve basis, the rest of the fleet can consist of any mixture of cruisers or frigates
Dreadnoughts (NPC only):
30 Hardpoints.
Crew of 1000
The Final word in fleet engagements. massive, heavily armored and armed, these ships can tear apart entire fleets on their own with little trouble, the bad news is that they are rarely seen without an escorting fleet of smaller ships.
Battleships:
10 Hardpoints.
Crew of 500
The heavy hitters of the fleet, slow but it's powerful Ion Cannons can tear smaller ships to shreds.
Carriers:
10 Hardpoints.
crew of 350 (plus flight crews.)
The heart of a fleet, provides other ships with a dense fighter screen and bomber squadrons and advanced targeting sytems. (Comes with a free ESM pod. Many have any number of Launch bays. Weapons are restricted to point defenses, torpedo bays, (max of 2) and heavy cannons.)
Cruisers.
8 hardpoints.
Crew of 150
The middleweight of the fleet, faster than battleships, slower than frigates.
Destroyers: 8 hardpoints.
Crew of 150
Specialized cruisers, designed solely to target enemy capital ships. Vulnerable to Strike craft and torpedoes (Must have at least 2 Ion cannons. May not take point defenses)
Frigates. 4 hardpoints.
Crew of 50
The light, hit-and-run main body of the fleet. Vulnerable to battleships but can gang up on cruisers.

Here's an example, the character that will be my controlling hand in the RP
Name: Maya Sharpe
Gender: Female
Age: 32
Nationality: European Federation (German.)
Personality: Driven, demanding. She knows that everyone can achieve much if they put effort into it, anyone who she feels doesn't try their hardest isn't worth her time.
Rank: Admiral
Appearance: Tall and imposing, Flame-read hair hangs down her back in a long braid. Suffered intense burns across her entire body during the Battle for New London and still bears the scars across her face and neck.
Bio: Coming from a long family history of Military service, Maya thought it was a no-brainer that she would follow her parents footsteps and enlist in the Navy at 18 with no complaints. Graduation at the top of her class and with the highest test scores stunned the alliance brass that tutored her, that combined with her natural good-looks made her the poster girl of the Alliance for several years, yet it was during the Battle of New London that she earned her lasting fame. Successfully defending an entire planet from a Pirate invasion, (that included a mighty dreadnaught,) with only her Carrier, "Vanguard". her rise through the ranks afterwards was meteoritic, and now she serves as a training officer at Fort Norton, prepping the officers of a new exploratory fleet to be formed under her command.
Ship Name: "Vanguard"
Class: Carrier
Appearance:
Hard-points:
2 Torpedo tubes
6 Launch bays. (3 Interceptors, 3 Bombers)
2 point defenses
1 ESM pod.
Bio: Although outdated-looking on the outside, "Vanguard" carries cutting edge tech within her old and battered hull, and is even more Famous throughout the Alliance then it's captain.
Originally designed as a mobile refinery and factory, intended to travel between systems gathering resources, upsurges of pirate attacks against the outer colonies in the years approaching the Navy's one hundred years anniversary, that required the vessel's refit into a dedicated combat vessel. New London was the closest planet to the wandering harvester with the required industry to perfrom the changes, so the Vanguard was sent there. Its was merely a few days after the work was complete that the massive pirate fleet attacked, and the new warship was thrown into the fires of combat all to soon with an entire word at the stake.
Combat posts are in character posts that involve their ship attacking or making an aggressive move towards another vessel. this is so I as the GM will be able to describe reactions and damage to each players action. Players will be informed as to when they are in a combat situation, at that point, objectives and a list of detected hostiles will be displayed.
Once in combat players are to display a health and shields count, along with their ship name so I and other players can determine their status at a glance.
Aggressive moves include:
Readying or Firing weapons Launching strike craft, attempting to ram another vessel. attempting to go to hyper-space. (although not a combat action per-say, this indicates a desire to leave the combat.)
Non-Aggressive moves include:
Raising shields attempting repairs Communicating between ships in the fleet, maneuvering. (but keep in mind the time frame, no moving across the system before your ion cannon shots have hit the target, for example.)
Combat posts Example:
GM posts:
WIth a sudden flare of light and energy, three pirate Raider-class cruisers emerged from hyper-space almost right on top of the lone "EXAMPLE", readying their trio of heavy cannons as they fell upon their prey.
You are now in combat.
Hostiles: Three Raider class cruisers.
Raider 3 heavy cannons 5 slave bays.(Non combat systems.)
Alarms blared throughout the EXAMPLE as hostile cruisers began to warp into the system almost right on top of them,
"Alert! Three hostile cruisers detected. Direct front, three thousand kilometers. They're arming weapons." Sharpe was quick to respond. "All hands to battle stations," she ordered. "Raise shields, Load both torp tubes. Standby to fire main guns." "Aye ma'am." her XO replied, "General Quarters. General Quarters, all hands man your battle stations. we are now at condition one."
A flickering field of energy enveloped the Alliance ship, while within its hull crewmen were rushing to their stations, damage control teams were ready, and auto-loaders armed the point defenses and heavy cannons
"There! Target the foremost cruiser, both tubes and all guns. Fire" "Aye, aye." replied the gunnery officer, "Fire one. Fire two. All guns fire."
A brief burst of atmosphere sprouted from the bow of the EXAMPLE as two huge missiles were launched from their tubes hidden there and streaked towards their target. the Three cannons mount on the ships spine fired in a silent roar, sending high explosives screaming towards the hostile ship "Clean Launch, Torpedoes one and two are on target." reported the gunnery officer
"Move us away, full speed, open some distance between us."
Its deadly cargo away, the mighty CRUSIER turned about and sped away from its aggressors.
GM posts:
Surprised by the sudden reaction of the lone enemy, the cruiser it had targeted opened up with its heavy cannons without raising its own shields first, three shots speeding through the void between the two ships to impact the larger ships shields in bright flares of energy.
the Alliance Cruiser's own shots tore from the unprotected pirate's hull and tore a cannon from its mount. Enraged, it turned to follow its foe, finally raising its own shields.
the other two followed suit, firing their own weapons at the retreating ship, finally bursting its protective field and damaging the armor beneath
"We've been hit! Minor Hull damage. Shields are down" "Solid hits with main guns. Torpedoes are still on target "Evasive maneuvers." Sharpe ordered, "Contact fleet command. request reinforcements."
Abandoning Ship.
If a player ship drops to below 3 heath, the player in command can announce he/she is abandoning ship instead of performing other combat actions, the ship is automatically destroyed at the end of their post, but the crew survive in escape pods, if their allies win the battle they can be recovered and can request a new ship.
if the Player fleet loses the engagement, the crew of the abandoned ship are taken prisoner by their enemies. players that then decide to go on a rescue mission to save them.
Players can instead choice to keep fighting when at low health, but will be unable to evacuate in time if their ship is destroyed. In that case they are Killed in Action
Very interesting, I like it, and I'm entrigued as to how this will pan out. I do hope we'll meet aliens and be able to do some off-ship roleplaying as well, for interests' sake, even if it does alter from the original purpose of the game.
Also, I added a few more sections to the character form that I think you should make mandatory. (also, for the ship, I might change the Hardpoints/image later depending on how I feel/your thoughts on it)
Name: Natalie Maria Rose Age: 24 Gender: Female Nationality: English Rank: Officer Cadet/ Lt Commander Personality: Compassionate, kind, friendly, good-natured, polite and often quiet - her words softly spoken. However, when in battle, she is a different person altogether; firm, decisive, strong and cunning. No matter what, she will always prioritise the safety of her crew over her own. Appearance: 5'11", neck-length blonde hair, soft features, svelte figure. Bio: Fresh out of the academy, she has always dreamed of the stars; of exploration; colonisation and advancement. She has also always wanted to be successful, and now she is, commanding an advanced battleship. Unfortunately, she has very little actual experience and neither does her crew. They are unproven, and the first few hostile encounters and tricky situations will undoubtedly shape them and bring them closer together as they work side-by-side. There have been many complaints that such a green officer is being given captaincy of possibly the most advanced Battleship in the stars. Some, in her defense, argue that she was the most conveniently available person to take the post, others that it's a fresh start - a new ship with a new crew, and a select few actually argue that she was chosen because of her potential. Whatever the case, Captain Rose stands ready to do her duty.
Ship Name: The Pioneer Class: Battleship
Hardpoints: - Point Defences - Flack Cannon - Launch Bay - Strike Fighters - Heavy Cannon - Torpedo Tube - ESM Pod - Primary Ion Cannon - Secondary Ion Cannon - Bridge Bio: A new vessel, the first of the Mars-pattern Battleship sub-class, The Pioneer is aptly named. However, though it is arguably the most advanced of its kind, it is unproved and its crew are as raw as uncooked fish. Appearance:
Going for a bit of everything huh? A bit odd but I'll allow it. Players will be given opportunities to mess with their ship layout, as for off ship Rping, don't worry, the'll be chances abound I'll wager.
As for aliens, we'll see eh?
Your suggestions for the character sheets have been noted and added, thanks for that.
Darkvoidof40k wrote:Edited my character profile and ship profile.
Looks good, welcome to the Alliance Navy! Just one problem, Rose isn't technically out of the Academy Yet, although all players have completed their training and passed their exams, they still need to be given official rank by their tutors. hence the Cadet/Commander rank.
Thats what the first part of the RP will be about, lots of pomp and ceremony and all that, don't worry it'll be over quick.

Did I do it right?
Almost, your rank should be Officer-Cadet/ Lt Commander, you're still a Cadet for now. Ex-pirate is acceptable, ex military is a bit iffy, the Alliance navy is the human military for all extents, although i suppose i could allow an enlisted man to apply for a command rank.
That said, welcome to the Alliance Navy, i look forward to reading what background you come up with.
EDIT: I also need a full name. Middle names optional.
Name: Garan Majoric Age: 35 Gender: Male Personality: Highly Intelligent, and a natural commander. Was the top of his class in training school. He enjoys command, and can follow orders from more senior figures. He won’t hesitate to punish insubordination. He excels in tactical planning and is never unprepared. Nationality: European Federation (British) Rank: Lt Commander Appearance: Tall (6’3”), with brown hair and eyes. His hair is cut quite short. He is healthy, but not particularly fit. Bio: He was born in London, and is descended from a long line of ship designers and scientists. His father was the designer of the Orion Class Carrier which he now pilots, and his mother was a top laser scientist, and met his father while working on the development of the Nebula class cruiser, over 45 years ago. He had always wanted to explore the stars as a child, and was constantly watching Sci-fi films. He accepted immediately, when offered a place at the training school, and is now ready for command.
Ship Name: Void Phoenix Class: Carrier Appearance: Long sleek ship, with a matt Grey/Black hull. Hard points: • 1 ESM Pod • Bridge • 7 Launch Bays (3 Bombers, 2 Strike Fighters, 2 Interceptors) (One Bay on the Prow, the rest down the sides, 3 on each side) • 1 Torpedo Tube • 2 Point Defence Bio: The Devastator is fresh out of the shipyards. It is the third Orion Class Carrier which has been built, but is by far the most sophisticated. It is fitted with the latest in weapons and computer systems, most of which have been fitted for the first time on this ship. One of the most exiting pieces of technology on this ship is the brand new AI system built into the mainframe. AI has been around for a long time, this system however, uses holo-projectors to make an actual humanoid form for its self. This AI can even take command of the ship in an emergency, such as the death of the captain during a combat situation. The ship carries Hammer Class Bombers, Omega Class Interceptors and Thunder Class Strike Fighters. These strike craft are all brand new out of the factories, but are crewed by experienced pilots, from the recently decommision carrier 'Dragon'. The crew are well trained and hard working, having been trained at the crew schools of Cuba, reputably the best in the world.
(Where did you guys get the ship pictures from, and how do you post pictures on dakka?)
Sounds interesting! But where are the Americans, Russian and Chinese with their space stations and doom lasers?
Name: Mark Reynolds
Age: 38
Gender: Male
Personality: Brash, Risk taker.
Nationality: American
Rank: Officer Cadet/ Lt Commander
Appearance: Average, looks like a typical member of the navy.
Bio: Serving in the navy for 12 years as a NCO, he was finally recommended by his Captain for retraining as a commissioned officer after seeing his command of the Hornet against a pirate raid.
Ship: Horizon
Class:: Battleship
Appearance: A long ship, designed for firing broadside shots.
Hard Points:
- 1 ESM Pod
- Bridge
- 1 Flak Cannon
- 1 Launch Bay
- 7 Torpedo Tubes
Bio: One of the older capital ships, designed as a commerce raider of traditional naval tactics. Severely outdated, but still has enough firepower and sheer superstructure to keep up with more modern warships. Very minimal ablative shielding, but has a very solid hull. Has been refitted several times to comply with naval standards and to act as countermeasures against the latest technology of rival ships. Originally designed as an upgrade from the lesser Battle Cruiser, known as the "Eisenhower" class the Horizon was the second ship of her class. Much larger than a conventional Battle Ship, the Eisenhower class had far more firepower than any conventional ship of it's time.
Forty years on, and with the arrival of the latest Dreadnought class ships, the Eisenhower class ships have become all but obsolete. The Horizon is the only surviving member of her class, being saved from scrapped as it's fate by Admiral J. Chester, one of the former commanders of the ship. Being refitted with newer ESM modules and a complement of Plasma Torpedoes, it no longer has an advantage over conventional Battle Ships but can match newer ships with it's sheer mass, shrugging off hits that would cripple even the most technologically advanced warship. The years of service and refitting have not caught up well with the Horizon, although it's hull and weapons are up to standard, the old Behemoth class reactor simply cannot power the latest shield generators that the Alliance fleet uses, hence the Horizon has far weaker shields than a ship typical of it's size. The Horizon has had over eight Captains in it's service history, the latest being Commander Reynolds.
I've noticed that ESM pods can detect stealthed ships. Will there be a stealth module for us to take on smaller boats like Frigates (a-la Space U-boat wolfpacks)?
Also, can we refit our ships at dock later on (i.e. change our hardpoints)?
no offence, but that's a Caldari titan you've chosen as your ship pic... It's far bigger than what a battleship should be.. here's a size comparison I lifted.
The medium ships are carriers and dreadnoughts. The smaller ships are what battleships should be, and the tiny dots are cruisers and lower!
Sorry, I have never played eve. I just looked on google images and looked for something cool looking. I'm sorry if it is gigantic, it just looks good. I heared that eve had good looking ships so I searched 'Eve online ships' and thats what it returned.
Is it ok for me to keep it, or should I find another one? Could I just say that it looks the Caldari titan, but it is smaller, about carrier size?
EDIT: I have found another ship, of appropriate size.
Well, although my EVE ship picture isn't of a battleship, and I was aware of that at the time, as we are only using these images for asthetic purposes, comparative size in their original environments is mostly irrelevant.
However, we should generally try and keep the ship images as similar as possible, so I'm going to suggest using these rules:
1) Use EVE online ship images only. 2) Try and keep to the size of your ship when you search for pictures, though they don't actually have to be the same class. (ie my Battleship image wasn't of a battleship, but rather of a Phoenix which is of a similar size) 3) Only use Caldari ship images (so our ships don't look totally different to each other), and perhaps the others to represent ships created by different countries - but due to everyone being united, the ships should follow the same basic style. These others could also be used to show older ships.

You can still join - EVE online gameplay experience really isn't required. We're just using images of the ships in that game to represent our own ones.
Now get your butt in gear and start writing a profile!
I haven't either.
We are just using eve ship pictures to represent our fleet.
I think I can speak for the GM when I say you are welcome to join, no knowledge of eve required.
Just to make Harab's life easier (Note that I added/changed a few ship images to match the theme, hopefully y'all are okay with them):

Nah, I'm involved in some other RPs so I cant take on another, besides, I dunno why but I just don't like the way those ships look design wise, just a mtter of personal preference, nothing against anyone here...I'll save my input for a battlefleet gothic RP or something along those lines.
I'll be happy to watch the epicness from the sidelines though!

You can still join - EVE online gameplay experience really isn't required. We're just using images of the ships in that game to represent our own ones.
Now get your butt in gear and start writing a profile!
Also, to those involved in this game, can we try and keep the IC content (when it starts) at a higher literacy level please (as in, the quality that Harrab and myself post with)? Not a lot ruins a roleplay worse than badly written posts. Of course, that's excluding people who aren't very good at spelling/writing in English due to Dislexia (or similar) or because it's not their first language.

I always try to write detailed posts, involving the greater story line rather than just my actions. This is only my 2nd RPG, my first being Stone, and I seem to have been able to do quite well there. Spelling isn't my strong point, but it is right most of the time, and at leased understandable.
BTW: What do you mean by IC content, I am not familiar with this abreviation.

1) Use EVE online ship images only.
2) Try and keep to the size of your ship when you search for pictures, though they don't actually have to be the same class. (ie my Battleship image wasn't of a battleship, but rather of a Phoenix which is of a similar size)
3) Only use Caldari ship images (so our ships don't look totally different to each other), and perhaps the others to represent ships created by different countries - but due to everyone being united, the ships should follow the same basic style. These others could also be used to show older ships.
Well the thing is that the EVE titans are huge, they're like mini space stations in design. It kinda struck me like choosing the Death Star as your ship profile pic.
EDIT://BTW I'd appreciate not editing our profiles if you're not the GM.... I'm not a big fan of EVE ship designs.

While I agree that keeping the ships similar would help keep the "United People" theme, it really isn't compulsory.
Keep in mind that as was said in the OP, most countries developed their own tech then shared once they were sure they'd gotten it working, and several ships may be based off older hulls, all that would matter is that they'd display the correct markings and have the right IFF code, and as Darkvoid said, their size in their parent game is irrelevant, as this isn't based on it at all.
Players will be given several oppertiuntes as the RP progresses to change around their hardpoints, and if the worst happens and their ship is destroyed, they can create a totally new one, (if they survived.)
I will also be offering experimental weapons and sub-systems at certain points in the story, these will be powerful but will also suffered from up to two unpleasant side effects, but the longer you use them, the quicker your crew can make adjustments and get rid of them.
Example 1:
Apocalypse Cannon Requires: replacement of all other offensive weapons systems, spinal mount. (can only fire at targets in the ships front arc.)
Benifits: causes 8 points of damage per shot. Side-effects: 1 Host ship suffers 1 point of hull damage per shot as the recoil damages the superstructre. (repairable only at shipyard)
Example 2: Silent Running Stealth Generator Requires: replacement of all defensive systems, (ESM and point defenses) Benifits: Invisible to hostile scanners. Side-effects: 2 Cannot power shields while stealth field is active. Must de-colak to fire.
Example 3: Hailstorm Missile System. Requires: replacement of all other offensive weapons systems and launch bays, (these are given over to missile production) Benefits: fires up to 150 missiles that travel at normal weapon speed, (no waiting a round for impact, it takes three missile hits to cause 1 point of damage) Side-effects: 2 Must launch all at once, then wait a round to reload. Each missile chooses its own target. (player just fires them, don't worry, they look for IFF so no friendly fire incidents)
As for the RP starting, either tomorrow or when we get enough players.
Oh, By the way, Congratulations to those players who have already posted ship designs, Using your common theme of torps, ESM and Strike craft, you have just dictated the Alliance preferred doctrine of Space combat:
"Focused, Accurate fire from long range with mutual Electronic Support and Strike-craft raids."
As a comparison here's the Pirates known tactics:
"Ambush and Overwhelm with unrelenting volume of fire and ship numbers, board and sabotage if possible."
NEW ABILITY UNLOCKED.
"Close Support Drill"
Alliance ships crews and their captains are trained to value mutual co-operation, its what got them this far, as a result, ships that remain in close proximity may combine their point defenses to defend against strike-craft and can combine their Torpedo attacks into a singe devastating volley.
Were we supposed to have listed Marines as an upgrade btw?
heh, OMG THE TORPS ARE SO OP NERF NOW PLZ
You seem to have forgotten that torps can be easily be stopped by point defenses and Interceptors.
Marines are present on every ship, so listing them isn't necessary, they're just there so you know that you can defend against internal attacks. (or launch some of your own....)
That's where some good ol' human ingenuity comes into play, we paint some smiley faces on the torpedos and tell them that they have a bunch of diplomats floating their way to negotiate surrender terms...

Here is a self confessed meat shield. (Or should it be metal shield)
Nah, my character is probably the least senior one there.
I really love my massive battleship, but I also have been tempted to switch to a Frigate equipped with that experimental stealth generator that we saw a few pages back. Fast, silent and deadly! Well, maybe not that deadly.. but a nasty surprise at any rate.
Also, it'd be the only Frigate in the fleet. But I do so love my big guns.
Name: Natalie Maria Rose
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Nationality: English
Rank: Officer Cadet/ Lt Commander
Personality: Compassionate, kind, friendly, good-natured, polite and often quiet - her words softly spoken. She has never been in a real combat situation before, and so has yet to earn the respect of her peers, being one of the youngest women ever to be promoted to the position of Captain. Most other Captain's are jealous and angry at her because she has been given such a coveted post, and also fear that she is not competent enough to manage such a large ship. This has lead to some confidence issues, but she always tries her hardest to impress and earn her title.
Hardpoints:
- Bridge
- Primary Ion Cannon (bow mount - centre)
- Secondary Ion Cannon (bow mount - port)
- Tertiary Ion Cannon (bow mount - starboard)
- Point Defenses (scattered)
- Primary Heavy Cannon (Tertiary section mount)
- Secondary Heavy Cannon (Tertiary section mount)
- ESM Pod (located near rear of ship and engine control)
Bio: A new vessel, the first of the Mars-pattern Battleship sub-class, The Pioneer is aptly named. It was designed to be a serious threat towards hostile vessels, primarily capital ships. It is ill-suited to engage squadrons of strike-craft, and is especially vulnerable to co-ordinated bomber attacks due to its low number of point defenses. Nonetheless, it was built with the intention of accompanying at least one other ship at all times in dangerous situations, and so its lack of small-arms firepower can be compensated for. In larger fleet movements, it is generally paired with a Carrier, so that they can act as a unified unit - The Pioneer bringing massive fire power whilst its cousin ship brings strike-craft forces. However, though it is arguably the most advanced of its kind, it is unproved and its crew are as raw as uncooked fish.
RaptorsTallon wrote:That's a lot of cannons you've got there...
I can't wait to start blowing sh*t up. Then again, perhaps I shouldn't have begged for the chance to fight a Dreadnought in my PM to Harrab.. No doubt some of y'all will get dragged into whatever trouble I've gotten us all into.
I considered more cannons.. but I felt an advanced ship would be equipped with an ESM pod (they seem like standard tech for the new ships) and I wanted some point defenses at least.
I've pretty much destroyed the jack-of-all-trades roll my ship had when I first created it, and now it's a dedicated heavy gunship.
edit:
To be honest, more than mass destruction (as delicious as it is!), what I really want to achieve in this roleplay is exploration and colanisation and whatnot.
But even more than that.. I want to see some really interesting character developments between the fleet captains and their adjutants and crew members.. I've already got a lot of plans for my own ship. *wolfish grin*
I realise that, but what I ment was that there will be far more of the Cruiser/Frigate class ships so they can cover all the bases, where as the massive space avalible on a battleship allows for a massivley deadly gunboat to be built.
I can see most things dieing when fired on by DarkVoid.
RaptorsTallon wrote:FIGHT A DREADNOUGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, a battleship should be a gunship.
You can leave the Jack of all Trades to the cruisers and frigates.
The whole mentality behind our fleet tactics is that we work together, hence why my Battleship likes to stick with your Carrier. We can be bestest buddies forever.

Bigger ships can get away with having a bit of all, because they can get everything in decent numbers to be effective.
True, but the fact that our ships are going to pretty much work in pairs (I reckon anyway) for everything from fleet-scale combats to scouting patrols. Pair up, dirtbags!
Also, Sillyboy, I strongly advise replacing your Flack cannon with a Heavy Cannon, that way you can lay down a reasonably large amount of firepower that can damage capital ships and be a very good supplement to the rest of the fleets' firepower versus other Cruisers, and also still be a large threat to Frigates in its own right. Your point defenses should be more than enough to take out incoming Torpedoes and strike-craft, even without the Flack cannon.

Oh, you flatter me so, you cheeky bastard!
I can already tell that our Captain's are going to get along grandly!
But please stop putting the capital on the 'V' in my username, it irritates me.. mostly because almost everyone does that.
I'm considering dropping a heavy cannon for more point defenses, thoughts? I quite like my gunboat of ultimate, permanent(x2) super-mega death, but my inexperienced Captain might put herself in risky situations inadvertantly.. and the need for FLAKKADAKKADAKKA might arrise..
Ok, Me and You can stick together Darkvoid. You provide the fire power and i'll provide the strike fighters and the defences. We may also get EagleArk and his destroyer near my carrier to, also for defenceive purposes.
Nope, EagleArk's taking the sole Destroyer of the fleet, so he'll need to be paired with someone like sillyboy who has a lack of heavy firepower (Destroyers are built to kill Capital ships, and have to have two Ion Cannons as a default).
The Pioneer, a Destroyer and the unaptly named Devastator working as one would be overkill, and might also leave the rest of the fleet lacking in some ways. Not to mention the enemy could just focus all their fire on the three.
Our two ships are the core, big and slow beasts that they are. The rest of the fleet will need to cause confusion and harrass the enemy, quickly ganging up on single ships and destroying or crippling them before moving on. In the confusion, I bring my big guns to bear, along with EagleArk's Destroyer rolling up one of the flanks with an escort (such as sillyboy's ship) and forcing the enemy to either split their forces so we can take them peacemeal, or focus on one section of our attack leaving them vulnerable to the others.
Haven't looked at the rest of our fleet in great detail, and there really isn't much info on EagleArk's ship, but his role is pretty much pre-defined.
RaptorsTallon wrote:Ok, it's just that I know him IRL, and he though it might be a good idea.
Plus, whats wrong with the name 'Devastator'?
It just doesn't seem fitting of your ships role. It doesn't Devastate the enemy as such, it helps the fleet overall and plays a very important support role.
For instance, my ships' name reflects itself - not per se because of its destructive nature, but because it's the first of its kind.
As for his lack of defenses versus small fighter craft and torpedoes, like I said, that's why he'll be paired up with sillyboy, because his ship is very well suited to countering such things.
I think we need more torpedoes. Anyway, my ship is meant to be largest and sturdiest structurally as it sacrifices tech for superstructure being one of the older 1st gen ships.
I also agree on battleships being dedicated gun platforms. I'd like to see more ship classes to fit in the support role (like electronic warfare modules for frigates or science vessel type classes)
Also, is shield and superstructure fixed? i.e. hardpoints = hull? Because I'd like to swap shields for hull if possible to fit in with my ship bio (i.e. a standard battleship has 8 hull and 8 shield for example, could I swap it to have 12 hull and 4 shields to represent the antiquated tech my ship has but compensates by being a formerly a larger class ship that's been downgraded to battleship status and refitted to keep up with some of the newer ships [like Darkvoid's new battleship])
I must say, even though I am annoyed at people constantly adding roleplays to the already overgrown pile, this does seem fairly interesting...
... but I am only posting because I want to make an excuse, nice work on all the info and stuff and I do wish this roleplay the best of luck,. but I am currently busy with others, which have been going for a looong time...
... so once again, sorry, but seriously people stop adding so many RP's...

Good idea, but personally I think we have enough Torpedoes and I definitely have enough Ion Cannons to compensate for any lack of Torp's. Not to mention the fact that Torp's are slow and easily destroyed.
I distinctly remember that one of our players has something rediculous like 7 Torpedo launchers - more than enough!

It's not that too many roleplays are being created, it's that there's too many roleplays that aren't of a high quality. But if people are having fun, then so be it.
This is currently the fourth roleplay I'm involved in at present.
After that, I really can't join any more. But most of the major roleplayers are tied up now, as we all know, so there shouldn't be any more RPGs popping up any time soon.
Right, lets see who we've got so far then.. quite a few capital ships it seems. In fact, we've got as many capital ships as standard vessels.

Hardpoints: - Bridge - Primary Ion Cannon (bow mount - centre) - Secondary Ion Cannon (bow mount - port) - Tertiary Ion Cannon (bow mount - starboard) - Point Defenses (scattered) - Primary Heavy Cannon (Tertiary section mount) - Secondary Heavy Cannon (Tertiary section mount) - ESM Pod (located near rear of ship and engine control)

Player: RaptorsTallon Name: Garan Majoric Age: 35 Gender: Male Personality: Highly Intelligent, and a natural commander. Was the top of his class in training school. He enjoys command, and can follow orders from more senior figures. He won’t hesitate to punish insubordination. He excels in tactical planning and is never unprepared. Nationality: European Federation (British) Rank: Officer Cadet/ Lt Commander Appearance: Tall (6’3”), with brown hair and eyes.
Ship Name: Void Star Class: Carrier Appearance: Long sleek ship, with a matt Grey/Black hull.
Player: Snarky Name: Mark Reynolds Age: 32 Gender: Male Personality: Brash, Risk taker. Nationality: American Rank: Officer Cadet/ Lt Commander Appearance: Average, looks like a typical member of the navy. Bio: Serving in the navy for 12 years as a NCO, he was finally recommended by his Captain for retraining as a commissioned officer after seeing his command of the Hornet against a pirate raid.
Ship: Horizon Class: Battleship Appearance: A long ship, designed for firing broadside shots. Hard Points: - 1 ESM Pod - Bridge - 1 Flak Cannon - 1 Launch Bay - 7 Torpedo Tubes
Player: Mordoskul Name: Manfred Kessler Age: 37 Gender: Male Personality: Kessler's not afraid to crack a joke or break the tension if the situation demands, tending to be open and friendly to all. During a crisis, he remains calm and level-headed, giving orders carefully and curtly. Nationality: European Federation (German) Rank: Lt Commander Appearance: Kessler is a tall man with a slightly pale complexion, a feature made more apparent by his neatly trimmed black beard and mustache. He has a slightly thin nose beneath his pair of hazel eyes. Bio: As a boy, Manfred was always fascinated by the stars, spending many long nights gazing up at them from the roof of his home in Koln, Germany. When he was of age, he enlisted in the Alliance Navy, giddy with excitement to tread the stars for the first time. Serving aboard the good ship Vanguard under Admiral Maya Sharpe for most of his career, he was inducted into officer training, learning how to manage a vessel of his own. Training proceeded as planned, and after many arduous and dull months, Kessler was promoted to Lt Commander of the good ship Silent Star, where he now eagerly awaits his deployment.
Ship Name: Silent Star Class: Sentinel Class Cruiser Hard Points: Bridge 2 Lucifer-Pattern Heavy Cannons 2 Hydra-Pattern Torpedo Tubes 1 ESM Pod Point Defense System Launch Bay (Strike Fighters) Bio: The first of several new Sentinel Class Cruisers, the Silent Star has only just finished her assembly, and has yet to earn any battle-scars. She is Lt Commander Manfred Kessler's pride and joy, and the two share an almost intimate bond.
Player: sillyboy Name: Trix Zedong Age: 24 Gender: Female Personality: Controlled, polite, honour is very important to her. Nationality: Chinese Confederation (she is from the planet Aria) Rank: Officer Cadet/ Lt Commander Appearance: Small, green eyes, blue hair, standard issued navy uniform, athletic. Bio: She is Trix from the House of Zedong. It is one of the leading houses on Aria, with a proud military history. Every firstborn of the House has served in the alliance since its founding. And now it isTrix's time to bring glory and honour to their home. She left her homeplanet at the age of 18 to join the Alliance navy. Trough the six years of rigorous training, she never stopped. She always tried to be the best she can to serve her House. And now after six years, she is going to get control of her own ship and cross the space like her House did during the Great Expansion.
- Point Defences x5 - Flak cannon x1 - Torpedo Launchers x1 - ESM pod - Bridge
Bio: The Aslinde is a newly created Paladin cruiser, wich is commonly reffered to as a "Buffer". Paladin cruisers are defensive cruisers, in battle the position themselves between the enemy and the fleet. Their reactive shields and point defences will try to take as many enemy torpedos down, before they get to the fleet. A buffer ship is one of the most dangerous positions in the fleet, they are the first ones in and the last ones out. They are also issued with 1 torpedolauncher, to protect themselves when out alone, or to take out targets of opportunity.
Reasoning:
1) The carrier can protect the battleship, with point defence and interceptors, while the battle ship engages targets.
2) The Meatshield ship can provide protection for the heavy firepower coming from the heavily armed battleship and destroyer.
3) Two cruisers together will provide a faster element, and there mix of weapons allows them to cope in different situations.

Bio: a fairly new ship. it was meant to be a replacement for another fleet, but was redirected when they decided they wanted a battle ship instead. it was put out of of commission after it was badly damaged by a pirate raid on its way to the university. it was fixed and re commissioned when issac asked for a frigate and it was the only one available.
What do you think?
Well, unless Harrab enforces his rule of no more than 2 player-controlled capital ships, then each group can have one. Otherwise, you've got the right idea dude.
Advanced Tactica (fleet-scale engagements only, but scaled-down versions could be applied to smaller engagements) - Divide and Conquer
1) Darkvoidof40k + RaptorsTallon - The carrier can protect the battleship, with point defence and interceptors, while the battle ship engages targets. This section assaults the front of the enemy fleet. Codename: Anvil (Fleet core/rally point)
2) sillyboy + EagleArk + Snarky - The buffer Cruiser can provide protection for the heavy firepower coming from the heavily armed Battleship and Destroyer. This section assaults the weaker flank of the two, rolling up the line, destroying the enemy craft with broadside hits. Codename: Hammer
3) Mordoskul + Toastedandy + Lord Harrab - Two cruisers together will provide a faster element, and their mix of weapons allows them to cope in different situations, with strike-craft support from the Carrier. Confuse and harass the enemy, causing as much damage as possible. Codename: Gauntlet
Basically, the codenames describe each section's function together.

Welcome to the game buddy, I know Harrab said recruitment is closed, but I'm sure he won't mind one more player, EH HARRAB? (nudge, nudge, wink, wink)
Looks like we've got our scout! As usual klimino, read the thread.
Just a few suggestions, drop the Flak cannons in exchange for Heavy Cannons so that you have some real firepower. You should be able to rely on the other ships for anti-strike-craft firepower.
Also, if you need help finding a picture, I can help with that.

Sure, I'll let you drop 50% shields for a health boost, but only you as i feel it fits the bio you gave, and you forgot one thing: Battleships have 10 health and shields as standard, you're end result will be 15 Hull 5 shields.
EDIT: wait a minute... you said your ship was downgraded to battleship? From a Dreadnought?
Will post more later, on my way to my final exam, wish me luck!
I see the logic of that, especially combined with snarky and Eagle......intrested in what eagle goes for,......
so that would be
ESM
5Xpoint defence
1 heavy cannon
1 torpedo
and bridge
so i can stop 5 torpedo's heading our way.... Snark has no point defence, and eagle is unknown...
5 torpedoes stopping seems like much for 1 ship... but if i have to protect 3 (possibly) without point defence.... i mean one enemy cruiser fully torp, will get three shots trough and then there's still the possibility of multiple ships firing torps...
so how about:
7x point defence
1 torpedo
bridge
If i stay with the group i can get away without ESM...
Hey isn't that an idea.... only one ESM per group that would open up four more slots
1 in anvil
2 in hammer
1 in gauntlet
That's more firepower and same protection if we stay close.
EagleArk wrote:Just a query, after the ion cannons on a destroyer, how many hard points do i have left?
I would say 4, but check with the GM.
The 1 ESM pod per group is a good idea, but I can't change mine, because I have PMed the design already. Not sure about others though.
Remember, gunships need an ESM each, because it also increases accuracy. Plus, carriers get an ESM for free.

Not exactly, my ship is a sort of proto-dreadnought, not an actual dreadnought but sort of the bridging between battleship and dreadnought. It's an outdated model so it's nowhere near as powerful, and the subsystems are meant to be incredibly outdated (hence the lack of shields, onboard AI) but has sheer mass going for it. It can't go one on one with a conventional dreadnought, but can give a battleship a run for it's money.
I'll update my ship bio on the first page to reflect this. Also didn't see the message about 6 years training, i'll also update my character profile's age from 32 to 38 to reflect this.

We should remember that we'll be fighting on a battlefield with no up or down, allowing for some pretty zany tactical maneuvers. I call this maneuver the Kessler Turn:
1- Fly behind and above an enemy vessel, turning to minimize yourself as a target and to bring the majority of your weapons to bear.
2- When you are on top of the enemy vessel and your broadside is facing the top of said vessel, open fire.
I think we should remember that maneuvering through space is different to traditional nautical maneuvers since there is no friction.
So a full stop will not necessarily stop the ship, but you'll need to go into full reverse to come to a stop.
Also, does distances matter when firing torpedoes? For example, one round is mentioned, but if I fire them point blank, will there be a delay? Same thing if firing from 10km+ away, would it take 2-3+ turns to reach it's target?

Oh fine you can start with the rest, now stop with the puppy dog eyes or feel my boot dammit!
Note about torpedoes: they need range to arm and track their target, as firing or storing them armed is far too dangerous, if you fired them point blank they might still hit, but wouldn't penetrate or explode. (although it would be a funny response to someone getting all up in your grill) the one round is inclusive of their travel regardless of distance, as once armed and tracking they accelerate and can perform far more demanding maneuvers.

-Spelling. I'm not going to be an absolute Nazi about it, my own isn't perfect either, but a little care and effort taken with posts makes everything more enjoyable. THIS IS A SUGGESTION TO ALL OTHER PLAYERS ALSO. -Bios and Appearance of ship are too short, as is personality, you've given me nothing to work with and seems rushed. As above take some time to get your ducks in a row as it were. I can put you in at any time. -Hardpoints, you've got too many Launch bays, non carriers are restricted to one of each type.
Another point, you don't have orders yet, you're still awaiting the award ceremony that'll officially give you your command.
Welcome to the Alliance Navy: You're just in time to join the other cadets at their favorite past-time: being yelled at. (favorite is determined by how often things occur.)

Off course he chose to join the navy Over the years he proved to be an exceptional recruit , even getting the honour to join the university. And thanks to his exceptional fly capabilities he earned the honour of joining the centenial fleet.

Forget meatshield, he's now our official kamikaze. He'll ram the Dreadnought, thus being martyred and enjoying fleeting glory before I appear to steal it with my Ion Cannons.

but if silly dies i wont have anyone to hide behind
We should just have a bland name like Battlegroup A, or Local System Task force, or maybe Fleet Solar? (providing we are on Earth, otherwise something like Fleet Centauri if we're based in Alpha Centauri)
RaptorsTallon wrote:Put a cloaking field on your frigate when you get chance, that way you can hide once your meatshield dies.
Also, you can scout better cloaked.
id already have one if it had been on the list *grumble*

Snarky wrote:Isn't your ship the self proclaimed "tank"? So basically everyone would be shooting you first?
I have the same hardpoint as everyone else, so i'm not a real tanker. I'm going to take down as many torpedos as possible. But then will disperse the others over the other ships, so we can stay alive as long as possible.
angel of heaven wrote:Let's kill our def tanker :-) than we can take over his role as meatshield

Ahem, on a more serious note, we also have the "Close Support Drill" available to all ships, meaning that all carriers and torpedo users should be with me so we can abuse this to the maximum.
I can imagine 15 Torpedoes per turn with strike craft support ensuring they reach their target can cripple dreadnought in five rounds!

It's not fair :p you decides who dies first so we'll better shoot you?

that could be risky...that putting alot of people close together.one well place barrage and all of you are damaged up.

Use your shields and somehow configure them to reflect heat.

This could be a good idea, mabey if I stick with Darko, and you stay with Lord Harrab's carrier, we will be able to send barrages of mixed weapons fire from multiple directions.
Do remember that naval vessels must keep a certain distance to avoid collisions. I understand that this is a sci-fi RP, but common sense prevails in this situation.
Snarky wrote:Yes, but I doubt they could reach all our ships.

Snarky wrote:There is no weapon that causes area damage to my knowledge, and we won't be clustered up.
We'll probably be several KM apart to avoid collisions etc. but Close Support Drill allows us to focus fire better anyway.
a bunch of torpedoes or a carpet of bombs from bombers. these are slightly area effect.
Well it could be torpedo nukes... We're in space afterall, don't have to think about enviroment.
yes we do. now we can dodge up, down, left, right, etc. but we also dont want to ram each other (well, maybe ill bounce off darko for some amusement ) plus if were in a meteor belt of somethin...
RaptorsTallon wrote:Fighting among meteors would be awesome!
Sneak strike craft assaults from long range, and torpedos into people who haven't seen us yet.
and id be sent to the front lines cause im the only one who can slip between them -_-

Mwahaha. This thread, and my superiority over you all within it, makes me laugh.
Anyway, I've done my intro post, so if everyone else who hasn't already could follow suite, then that'd be great, because I want to blow sh*t up already to begin peaceful negotiations with people who are opposed to us.
Also, I PM'd Harrab earlier with a massive replacement for the RPs original post that I compiled in the space of over an hour and a half, which he should hopefully post up soon. Didn't include any character profiles that have been added tonight. *shrug*

----- Game rules are in the Interest thread. -----
Fleet motto: A hundred years of exploring, oh, and a hundred more to go!
Fleet emblem:
Ships of the Fleet: Dreadnoughts: 0 Battleships: 2 Carriers: 2 Cruisers: 3 Destroyers: 1 Frigates: 1
Darkvoid's Advanced Tactica (fleet-scale engagements only, but scaled-down versions could be applied to smaller engagements)
Divide and Conquer
1) Darkvoidof40k + RaptorsTallon - The carrier can protect the battleship, with point defence and interceptors, while the battle ship engages targets. This section assaults the front of the enemy fleet. Codename: Anvil (Fleet core/rally point)
2) sillyboy + EagleArk + Snarky - The buffer Cruiser can provide protection for the heavy firepower coming from the heavily armed Battleship and Destroyer. This section assaults the weaker flank of the two, rolling up the line, destroying the enemy craft with broadside hits. Codename: Hammer
3) Mordoskul + Toastedandy + Lord Harrab + lord commissar klimino - Two cruisers together will provide a faster element alongside the Frigate, which also acts as a Scout before the actual engagement. Their mix of weapons allows them to cope with all situations, with strike-craft support from the Carrier. They confuse and harass the enemy, causing as much damage as possible. Codename: Gauntlet
All Alliance craft have access to the following traits:
1) Close Support Drill
Alliance ships crews and their captains are trained to value mutual co-operation, its what got them this far, as a result, ships that remain in close proximity may combine their point defenses to defend against strike-craft and can combine their Torpedo attacks into a single devastating volley.
CHARACTERS
ACTIVE CHARACTERS: #9 INACTIVE CHARACTERS: #0 CHARACTER FATALITIES: #0 TOTAL CHARACTERS: #9
Games Master: Lord Harrab Name: Maya Sharpe Gender: Female Age: 32 Nationality: European Federation (German.) Personality: Driven, demanding. She knows that everyone can achieve much if they put effort into it, anyone who she feels doesn't try their hardest isn't worth her time. Rank: Admiral Appearance: Tall and imposing, Flame-read hair hangs down her back in a long braid.
Ship Name: Vanguard Class: Carrier
Appearance: The Pride of the Alliance Navy, beginning its life as little more than a mobile refinery and an odd post of the Highest Scoring cadet in Alliance history, the Battle for New London proved its worth so well that many future Carriers were based off of its design.
Bio: Although outdated-looking on the outside, Vanguard carries cutting edge tech within her old and battered hull, and is even more Famous throughout the Alliance then it's captain.
Player: Darkvoidof40k Name: Natalie Maria Rose Age: 24 Gender: Female Nationality: English Rank: Officer Cadet/ Lt Commander Personality: Compassionate, kind, friendly, good-natured, polite and often quiet - her words softly spoken.
Hardpoints: 10 - Bridge - Primary Ion Cannon (bow mount - centre) - Secondary Ion Cannon (bow mount - port) - Tertiary Ion Cannon (bow mount - starboard) - Point Defenses (scattered) - Primary Heavy Cannon (Tertiary section mount) - Secondary Heavy Cannon (Tertiary section mount) - ESM Pod (located near rear of ship and engine control)
Appearance: The Pioneer about to bring its formidable forward firepower to bear on a hapless drone during trials. Initial estimates of the battleships' offensive capability were greatly exceeded and it is hoped it will maintain such exceptional performance whilst in real combat situations.
Ship Name: Silent Star Class: Sentinel Class Cruiser Appearance: Fresh out of the nearby Shipyards, the [i]Silent Star[/i is] undergoing a systems check over the Colony World of Rita. A new design from the German Astronautic Corporations and incorporating the latest weapons systems, initial estimates of its effectiveness look very promising.
Hard Points: 8 - Bridge - 3 Lucifer-Pattern Heavy Cannons - 2 Hydra-Pattern Torpedo Tubes - 1 ESM Pod - Point Defense System - Launch Bay (Strike Fighters) Bio: The first of several new Sentinel Class Cruisers, the Silent Star has only just finished her assembly, and has yet to earn any battle-scars. She is Lt Commander Manfred Kessler's pride and joy, and the two share an almost intimate bond.
Player: Sillyboy Name: Trix Zedong Age: 24 Gender: Female Personality: Controled, polite, honour is very important.
Ship Name: Aslinde Class: "Paladin Cruiser" Hardpoints: 8 - Point defenses x5 - Heavy cannon x1 - Torpedo launchers x1 - ESM pod - Bridge
Appearance: The Aslinde's Sister Ship, the Pillar of Autumn was DIA escorting refugees from a pirate raid, thanks to their sacrifice, over 3 million people were spared the horrors of a pirate work camp. As a mark of remembrance, each Paladin carries an Image of the lost vessel in its Captains cabin.
Hard points: 10 - 1 Patriot Class ESM Pod - Bridge - 7 Launch Bays (3 Hammer Class Bombers, 2 Thunder Class Strike Fighters, 2 Omega Class Interceptors) - 1 Phantom Class Torpedo Tube - 2 Legacy Class Point Defenses Bio: The Devastator is fresh out of the shipyards. These strike craft are all brand new out of the factories, but are crewed by experienced pilots, from the recently decommission carrier 'Dragon'. The crew are well trained and hardworking, having been trained at the crew schools of Cuba, reputably the best in the world.
The Void Phoenix is currently undergoing field trials before being cleared for active duty. The third of its type, this Carrier contains an Advanced "Smart" AI system capable of full autonomous control of the vessel during combat.
Ship: Horizon Class: Battleship/ 1st Gen Dreadnought prototype Appearance: A long ship, designed for firing broadside shots. Hard Points: - 1 ESM Pod - Bridge - 1 Flak Cannon - 1 Launch Bay - 7 Torpedo Tubes
The Horizon is the only surviving member of her class, being saved from scrap as its fate by Admiral J. Chester, one of the former commanders of the ship. Being refitted with newer ESM modules and a complement of Plasma Torpedoes, it no longer has an advantage over conventional Battle Ships but can match newer ships with its sheer mass, shrugging off hits that would cripple even the most technologically advanced warship.
Originally from a "Linebreaker" Squadron of Alliance Prototype Dreadnoughts that was famed for eliminating a Pirate base during the Second Expansion. Although this type of ship is officially retired from service now that the modern "Apocalypse" class Dreadnought has passed its trials, this one still remains as capable and reliable Battleship with many battle honors.

When he found out about a recruiting station nearby, he walked there. As he sat through class after class, he got a reputation of being careless. His tactics in training were effective, but risky and hastily created. When he graduated, he asked for a Frigate. He wanted something fast and small.
Ship Name: The Mutt Class: Frigate Appearance: Originally entered service as an Ion Cannon Frigate of the 6th fleet, "Mutt" was heavily damaged in its first engagement due to reckless action on behalf of its captain, and most of its crew was lost, refitted as a standard assault frigate and given to a new recruit, it is hoped that its new commander will treat her right.
*shrug*
