Please do not post in this thread unless you are one of the pre-approved players. Others wishing to get involved may say so in the following link:http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/377125.page A Shared Dream For centuries mankind had looked up to the night skies in wonder and awe, naming the Constellations, watching the silent dance of planets and moons, and dreaming that one daythey could swim amongst them in the infinite void of space. Mankind’s first steps into space were crude and infrequent. Fuelled more by internal bickering and posturing than any desire for genuine advancement of their people, many astounding leaps of discovery and invention soon ignored in favour of the next one. Their landing on the moon, merely a few decades after inventing powered flight, was cast aside as trivial as Mars became the next target for competing nations to aim for. It wasn’t until Europe federated in 2018, and led by France combined the resources of all it’s former independent nations, and founded the first lunar colony within sight of where Neil Armstrong had placed mankind’s first footprint on the dust, that mankind realised the potential of a race united with one purpose. Two years later, within the confined main hall of Lunar Base Joan D’arc, Representatives from every nation on Earth’s surface signed the Human Systems Alliance charter and pledged their country’s support in colonising the wider galaxy. For the first time in it’s history, Humanity stood united under a shared dream, the Human Systems Alliance was born. Although united under a mutually elected government, the nations of earth was still allowed a certain level of independence, their existing governments where slotted into an overarching hierarchy with few problems, each elected an ambassador to represent them on the council and were allowed to pursue their own projects to colonise space, provided they obeyed the laws and directives of the Alliance and shared their findings freely with the entire planet. Space ship technology advanced in leaps and bounds, in 2045, England’s HMS Queen Victoria landed on mars, its prototype Ion drive propelling it across the vast gulf between planets at a fraction of the time it had taken earlier probes. In 2092, Japanese and German scientists perfected an energy shield generator that rendered anything within its protective bubble almost immune to projectiles. 2102 saw the perfection of Terra-forming tech by America, and by 2105 the first trees were planted under open sky on Martian soil. 2120 was the birth year of the ship-mounted rail gun, developed by Germany as a way of destroying asteroids or other solid objects that could breach a ship’s shield, and it’s use as an offensive weapon was realised immediately. Aware of the possible dangers the galaxy could contain, the Alliance Navy was formed, its members plucked from around the world, and trained in orbit above the world of their birth. Their ranks swelled as colony after colony was founded across the solar system, and thousands of eager men and women flocked to defend their new homes. Hundreds of dull grey ships prowled the solar system, ensuring that everyone remember the union that had allowed them to get even this far into space. It has been over a hundred years since the Alliance Navy was formed, and mankind has spread far amongst the stars. You are an Officer-Cadet of this proud organization, training for six years to command your own ship, explore, defend and command the cosmos. Now, as your final days at Fort Norton Academy draw near, you eagerly await the awarding of your ceremonial sword and the ship that comes with it. ----- Game rules are in the Interest thread. ----- THE FLEET Fleet name: 14th Fleet, The Centennial Exploration Fleet - AKA "Centennial Explorers" Fleet motto: Motto: "Primoris inter astrum , permaneo dimitto lemma" ("First among the stars, the last to leave them") Fleet emblem: Ships of the Fleet: Dreadnoughts: 0 Battleships: 2 Carriers: 2 Cruisers: 3 Destroyers: 1 Frigates: 1 Darkvoid's Advanced Tactica (fleet-scale engagements only, but scaled-down versions could be applied to smaller engagements) Divide and Conquer 1) Darkvoidof40k + RaptorsTallon - The carrier can protect the battleship, with point defence and interceptors, while the battle ship engages targets. CHARACTERS ACTIVE CHARACTERS: #9 INACTIVE CHARACTERS: #0 CHARACTER FATALITIES: #0 TOTAL CHARACTERS: #9 Games Master: Lord Harrab Name: Maya Sharpe Gender: Female Age: 32 Nationality: European Federation (German.) Personality: Driven, demanding. She knows that everyone can achieve much if they put effort into it, anyone who she feels doesn't try their hardest isn't worth her time. Rank: Admiral Appearance: Tall and imposing, Flame-read hair hangs down her back in a long braid. Suffered intense burns across her entire body during the Battle for New London and still bears the scars across her face and neck. Bio: Coming from a long family history of Military service, Maya thought it was a no-brainer that she would follow her parents footsteps and enlist in the Navy at 18 with no complaints. Graduation at the top of her class and with the highest test scores stunned the alliance brass that tutored her, that combined with her natural good-looks made her the poster girl of the Alliance for several years, yet it was during the Battle of New London that she earned her lasting fame. Successfully defending an entire planet from a Pirate invasion, (that included a mighty dreadnaught,) with only her Carrier, "Vanguard". her rise through the ranks afterwards was meteoritic, and now she serves as a training officer at Fort Norton, prepping the officers of a new exploratory fleet to be formed under her command. Ship Name: Vanguard Class: Carrier Appearance: The Pride of the Alliance Navy, beginning its life as little more than a mobile refinery and an odd post of the Highest Scoring cadet in Alliance history, the Battle for New London proved its worth so well that many future Carriers were based off of its design. Hard-points: 10 - 2 Torpedo tubes - 6 Launch bays. (3 Interceptors, 3 Bombers) - 2 point defenses - 1 ESM pod. Bio: Although outdated-looking on the outside, Vanguard carries cutting edge tech within her old and battered hull, and is even more Famous throughout the Alliance then it's captain. Originally designed as a mobile refinery and factory, intended to travel between systems gathering resources, upsurges of pirate attacks against the outer colonies in the years approaching the Navy's one hundred years anniversary, that required the vessel's refit into a dedicated combat vessel. New London was the closest planet to the wandering harvester with the required industry to perfrom the changes, so the Vanguard was sent there. Its was merely a few days after the work was complete that the massive pirate fleet attacked, and the new warship was thrown into the fires of combat all to soon with an entire word at the stake. Player: Darkvoidof40k Name: Natalie Maria Rose Age: 24 Gender: Female Nationality: English Rank: Officer Cadet/ Lt Commander Personality: Compassionate, kind, friendly, good-natured, polite and often quiet - her words softly spoken. She has never been in a real combat situation before, and so has yet to earn the respect of her peers, being one of the youngest women ever to be promoted to the position of Captain. Most other Captain's are jealous and angry at her because she has been given such a coveted post, and also fear that she is not competent enough to manage such a large ship. This has lead to some confidence issues, but she always tries her hardest to impress and earn her title. Appearance: 5'11", neck-length blonde hair, soft features, svelte figure. Bio: Fresh out of the academy, she has always dreamed of the stars; of exploration; colonisation and advancement. She has also always wanted to be successful, and now she is, commanding an advanced battleship. Unfortunately, she has very little actual experience and neither does her crew. They are unproven, and the first few hostile encounters and tricky situations will undoubtedly shape them and bring them closer together as they work side-by-side. There have been many complaints that such a green officer is being given captaincy of possibly the most advanced Battleship in the stars. Some, in her defense, argue that she was the most conveniently available person to take the post, others that it's a fresh start - a new ship with a new crew, and a select few actually argue that she was chosen because of her potential. Whatever the case, Captain Rose stands ready to do her duty. Ship Name: The Pioneer Class: Battleship Hardpoints: 10 - Bridge - Primary Ion Cannon (bow mount - centre) - Secondary Ion Cannon (bow mount - port) - Tertiary Ion Cannon (bow mount - starboard) - Point Defenses (scattered) - Primary Heavy Cannon (Tertiary section mount) - Secondary Heavy Cannon (Tertiary section mount) - ESM Pod (located near rear of ship and engine control) Bio: A new vessel, the first of the Mars-pattern Battleship sub-class, [ i]The Pioneer is aptly named. It was designed to be a serious threat towards hostile vessels, primarily capital ships. It is ill-suited to engage squadrons of strike-craft, and is especially vulnerable to co-ordinated bomber attacks due to its low number of point defenses. Nonetheless, it was built with the intention of accompanying at least one other ship at all times in dangerous situations, and so its lack of small-arms firepower can be compensated for. In larger fleet movements, it is generally paired with a Carrier, so that they can act as a unified unit - The Pioneer bringing massive fire power whilst its cousin ship brings strike-craft forces. However, though it is arguably the most advanced of its kind, it is unproved and its crew are as raw as uncooked fish. Appearance: The Pioneer about to bring its formidable forward firepower to bear on a hapless drone during trials. Initial estimates of the battleships' offensive capability were greatly exceeded and it is hoped it will maintain such exceptional performance whilst in real combat situations. Player: Mordoskul Name: Manfred Kessler Age: 37 Gender: Male Personality: Kessler's not afraid to crack a joke or break the tension if the situation demands, tending to be open and friendly to all. During a crisis, he remains calm and level-headed, giving orders carefully and curtly. Nationality: European Federation (German) Rank: Lt Commander Appearance: Kessler is a tall man with a slightly pale complexion, a feature made more apparent by his neatly trimmed black beard and mustache. He has a slightly thin nose beneath his pair of hazel eyes. Bio: As a boy, Manfred was always fascinated by the stars, spending many long nights gazing up at them from the roof of his home in Koln, Germany. When he was of age, he enlisted in the Alliance Navy, giddy with excitement to tread the stars for the first time. Serving aboard the good ship Vanguard under Admiral Maya Sharpe for most of his career, he was inducted into officer training, learning how to manage a vessel of his own. Training proceeded as planned, and after many arduous and dull months, Kessler was promoted to Lt Commander of the good ship Silent Star, where he now eagerly awaits his deployment. Ship Name: [ i]Silent Star Class: Sentinel Class Cruiser Appearance: Fresh out of the nearby Shipyards, the Silent Star undergoing a systems check over the Colony World of Rita. A new design from the German Astronautic Corporations and incorporating the latest weapons systems, initial estimates of its effectiveness look very promising. Hard Points: 8 - Bridge - 3 Lucifer-Pattern Heavy Cannons - 2 Hydra-Pattern Torpedo Tubes - 1 ESM Pod - Point Defense System - Launch Bay (Strike Fighters) Bio: The first of several new Sentinel Class Cruisers, the Silent Star has only just finished her assembly, and has yet to earn any battle-scars. She is Lt Commander Manfred Kessler's pride and joy, and the two share an almost intimate bond. Player: Sillyboy Name: Trix Zedong Age: 24 Gender: Female Personality: Controled, polite, honour is very important. Nationality: Chinese Confederation (she is from the planet Aria) Rank: Officer Cadet/ Lt Commander Appearance: Small, green eyes, blue hair, standard issued navy uniform, athletic. Bio: She is Trix from the House of Zedong. It is one of the leading houses on Aria, with a proud military history. Every firstborn of the House has served in the alliance since its founding. And now it isTrix's time to bring glory and honour to their home. She left her homeplanet at the age of 18 to join the Alliance navy. Trough the six years of rigorous training, she never stopped. She always tried to be the best she can to serve her House. And now after six years, she is going to get control of her own ship and cross the space like her House did during the Great Expansion. Ship Name: Aslinde Class: "Paladin Cruiser" Hardpoints: 8 - Point defenses x5 - Heavy cannon x1 - Torpedo launchers x1 - ESM pod - Bridge Bio: The Aslinde is a newly created Paladin cruiser, wich is commonly reffered to as a "Buffer". Paladin cruisers are defensive cruisers, in battle the position themselves between the enemy and the fleet. Their reactive shields and point defences will try to take as many enemy torpedos down, before they get to the fleet. A buffer ship is one of the most dangerous positions in the fleet, they are the first ones in and the last ones out. They are also issued with 1 torpedolauncher, to protect themselves when out alone, or to take out targets of opportunity. Appearance: The Aslinde's Sister Ship, the Pillar of Autumn was DIA escorting refugees from a pirate raid, thanks to their sacrifice, over 3 million people were spared the horrors of a pirate work camp. As a mark of remembrance, each Paladin carries an Image of the lost vessel in its Captains cabin. Player: RaptorsTallon Name: Garan Majoric Age: 35 Gender: Male Personality: Highly Intelligent, and a natural commander. Was the top of his class in training school. He enjoys command, and can follow orders from more senior figures. He won’t hesitate to punish insubordination. He excels in tactical planning and is never unprepared. Nationality: European Federation (British) Rank: Officer Cadet/ Lt Commander Appearance: Tall (6’3”), with brown hair and eyes. His hair is cut quite short. He is healthy, but not particularly fit. Bio: He was born in London, and is descended from a long line of ship designers and scientists. His father was the designer of the Orion Class Carrier which he now pilots, and his mother was a top laser scientist, and met his father while working on the development of the Nebula class cruiser, over 45 years ago. He had always wanted to explore the stars as a child, and was constantly watching Sci-fi films. He accepted immediately, when offered a place at the training school, and is now ready for command. Ship Name: Void Phoenix Class: Carrier Appearance: Long sleek ship, with a matt Grey/Black hull. Hard points: 10 - 1 Patriot Class ESM Pod - Bridge - 7 Launch Bays (3 Hammer Class Bombers, 2 Thunder Class Strike Fighters, 2 Omega Class Interceptors) - 1 Phantom Class Torpedo Tube - 2 Legacy Class Point Defenses Bio: The Devastator is fresh out of the shipyards. It is the third Orion Class Carrier which has been built, but is by far the most sophisticated. It is fitted with the latest in weapons and computer systems, most of which have been fitted for the first time on this ship. One of the most exiting pieces of technology on this ship is the brand new AI system built into the mainframe. AI has been around for a long time, this system however, uses holo-projectors to make an actual humanoid form for its self. This AI can even take command of the ship in an emergency, such as the death of the captain during a combat situation. The ship carries Hammer Class Bombers, Omega Class Interceptors and Thunder Class Strike Fighters. These strike craft are all brand new out of the factories, but are crewed by experienced pilots, from the recently decommission carrier 'Dragon'. The crew are well trained and hardworking, having been trained at the crew schools of Cuba, reputably the best in the world. The Void Phoenix is currently undergoing field trials before being cleared for active duty. The third of its type, this Carrier contains an Advanced "Smart" AI system capable of full autonomous control of the vessel during combat. Player: lord commissar klimino Name: Issac Vangard Age: 24 Gender: Male Personality: Optimistic. Tries to be up-beat but can be 'dark' when angry. Nationality: American colonist from Pluto Rank: Officer Cadet/ Lt Commander Appearance: pale. pitch black long hair.dark eyes. skinny.tall. tribal tattoo on left hand. Bio: Born on a frozen waste, he always had to see the bright side of things, even during the several pirate attacks that killed most of his friends and family. When he found out about a recruiting station nearby, he walked there. As he sat through class after class, he got a reputation of being careless. His tactics in training were effective, but risky and hastily created. When he graduated, he asked for a Frigate. He wanted something fast and small. Ship Name: The Mutt Class: Frigate Appearance: Originally entered service as an Ion Cannon Frigate of the 6th fleet, "Mutt" was heavily damaged in its first engagement due to reckless action on behalf of its captain, and most of its crew was lost, refitted as a standard assault frigate and given to a new recruit, it is hoped that its new commander will treat her right. Hardpoints: 4 - Point Defenses - 2 heavy cannons - ESM pod Player: TheWildHost Name: Dylan C. Barlow Age: 28 Gender: Male Personality: Funny, but can become a total douch at times, Stern, hard headed Nationality: European Federation (Swiss) Rank: Appearance: Tall, Brown Shaved hair, Green eyes, Muscular, Decent looking. He has slightly curved pinky's (Only noticable if he puts his hands together pinky to pinky) Bio: Dylan hails from a family of Crewmen, he is the first to become captain, thus he feels he should bring the family pride. He enlisted at 20, due to family and self crisis. He hails from a very rich family with many holdings in Alliance ship design, an by an unusual coincidence they were primary designers of the Night Crawler. On his admittance to Fort Norton, Dylan Swore he would not Fail the Alliance with this unusual "Jack of All Trades" ship. Ship Name: The Night Crawler Class: Cruiser Appearance: Another prototype newly added to the Alliance Roster. With its multipurpose load-out and comfortable interiors, this ship is designed for long patrols along the Badlands, and destroying those who dare cross the border. Name: Joesph Inkheart Age: 27 Gender: Male Personality: Serious Nationality: British Rank: Officer Cadet/ Lt Commander (this is the only part of character creation I set.) Appearance: Tall and heavy set, with a military buzz cut and deep blue eyes. Bio: One of the few remaining cadets left from humanitys homeland, Joseph was born into a caste of high ranking nobles. Unfortunatly he was severly injured at a young age by a rusty pocket knife, the screeching of the knife extending is his only fear. He was them on home schooled before heading to officer acadamy. From there he begain to date a girl of similar age, they went through the school together and ended up knowing each very well. But as all things must, it ended. She fell for another man. This tore the heart from Joesphs chest, and he made a vow never again to plege himself to another. All of this has led him up to the point today, ready to graduate. Credited for 20 confirmed ship kills and damagins 3 score more, the vessel has seen alot of action, and engine 3 (of 4) is malfunctioning, and in need of dry dock to fully repair it, even though of this problem the ship can still move a 90% of normal speed when not charging the shields and cannons, in combat it can reach 75% of normal speed. The crew are a uneven mix of rookies (lots) and veterans (few).

Prologue: A shared Dream Seven years ago. The Vangaurd shuddered as its old frame took another hit and warnings of hull breaches flickered into life on Commander Sharpe's tactical display, she ignored them, all of her crew had already evacuated, it was just her and sammy left now. Fires blazed throughout the converted ship, and the whole thing was lit by the deep red of emergency lighting, the klaxons had cut out long ago. Far ahead of the stricken carrier, the lone Pirate Dread was trying to turn broadside on to it's prey, revealing the huge wounds that vanguard itself had managed to inflict despite how massively outclassed and outnumbered it had been when the the attack began. 'Thats right," she hissed at her lone opponent, "you didn't expect this old girl to have teeth, did you? You though we were easy pickings didn't you you Flecker." "Commander? please repeat," Samantha's synthesized voice replied, the ships AI was far to literal in its obedience, and still had trouble understanding when its Commander was speaking to herself Sharpe spat onto the deck, distantly noting that the majority of it was blood, before wiping her mouth. "That Feckler will finish us off with his next volley, lets give him a bloody eye before we die. Target the bridge, both tubes, fire on my Mark." "Torpedoes Loaded, commander." Sammy replied "ready to fire." Bright flashes flickered from the Dreadnought's main guns just as Sharpe yelled "fire!" Maya had just enough time to see her last two torps burst from their tubes before heavy cannon rounds impacting with her bridge threw the young officer from her command chair and filled the command centre with flames. Fort Norton Command Officer Training Academy(Formerly Le Ceto) South of France Earth Admiral Sharpe awoke clutching her face tightly with both hands, even now she could still feel the heat radiating from them, as if she had been burned just yesterday. She sat up goggily, pressing her fringe away from her eyes as she surveyed her room, her rank meant she was given far more from than any one person could ever need, and furniture that probably cost more than the Navy would be willing to admit. Sharpe hated it. She preferred the cramped quarters aboard her ship, hearing the hum of the Ion Drives at the very cusp of hearing, knowing the Old Girl was still alive. Her eyes traveled across an old recruitment poster, featuring a young and unscarred version of herself showing far too much cleavage for her liking no she was older, the uniform she had worn for those shots was nowhere near regulation standard and damn cold too. The words "I want you for the Alliance Navy." was stenciled below like an afterthought, Well yes she wanted people to join the Navy, she just didn't want to think of what they did with the posters once they had enlisted. Moving quickly on she skimmed over her Formal Uniform that her batman had hung on the hook beside the wardrobe., Ah, That was right, it was graduation time for all the little probies under her tutoring, today they would get The Sword. That was the reason most stuck out with training for so long, patriotism and duty would get them through the door, but the desire for The Sword was what kept them there. The Sword fully deserved the capital letters, it was the ultimate status symbol in Alliance Space, it proved that the bearer had mastered the most difficult and brutal training regimes known to man, that they could think in three dimensions at once and make command choices that the entire Alliance rested on quickly and without doubt. Plus it'll get you laid on almost every planet without effort, and you'd never have to buy a drink in a local pub again. Thats what her father had said anyway, before mother had shushed him. Sharpe showered and dressed into her formal attire quickly, clasping her sword belt around her waist last and smiling to herself as she did so, everyone of her cadets had felt the side of the scabbard more than once during lectures and training exercises, it accurately and forcefully displayed her displeasure and reminded them of what they had to gain. Not a single one of them had dropped out or scored less then 89% in their final exams. Some of the other Trainers called her ruthless, but she cared for her cadets, they would bee putting their lives on the line for the good of humanity, she would be doing them a disservice if she didn't ensure they knew how to function at their best. Her cap went onto her head brim first after she had formed her hair into her trademark braid, the familiar indulgence was soothing after the shock of reliving her scarring in her dreams, and she showed no sign of trouble as she stepped out into the Command staff section of the Academy Living Area, the Marines on duty snapped to attention as she passed with crisp salutes. "As you were." she said to them as she returned the salute, dawn was just breaking as she stepped outside onto the parade ground, walking around the massive space on her way to the cadet quarters, her experienced eye already seeing where every man and women would stand during the ceremony, if no one screwed it up out of nerves of course. Another Salute to the guard outside the smaller building and the usual panic amongst those inside and already awake at the sudden arrival of a senior officer in their mist. Sharpe ignored them, they were first and second years and not her problem. She took the stairs to the top floor two at a time until she came to the floor labeled "Final Year." this she pushed open to enter the common area of her latest batch of students, one that would not have looked out of place at some penthouse in Paris, with the doors to their rooms lining the corridor that opened at the other end. Far better accommodation than the bunk-beds the First years were suffering through. Sharpe swiped her ID card through the scanner by the door and picked up the Handset that unlocked, held it to her lips, stifled a chuckle with difficulty, then yelled into it, her voice magnified to terrifying volume by the speakers within each sleeping cadets room. "Up! Everyone Up! Those who do not Fall in to the marked area within five seconds will be looking for their teeth! Get your asses in gear! Move! (OCC: everyone able to make an intro post right now, please do so, Sillyboy, we'll work out your addition once you're able. And those without character sheets please PM to me so i can add them.)

(sorry if its not long enough,i just didnt know what would happen at da ceremony...thing.)
as issac awoke to the sound of yelling,he looked around. sh*t,he overslept. as he hurriedly got dressed and went to the door.as he was about to open the door,he stopped.a smile went across his face.he turned and grabbed his gloves.he was no longer some tribal like plutonian,he was a commander.he then rushed out of his room. he quickly looked around for the marked area, still hazy from just waking up. he then found and stepped in his spot and saluted.
"im here mam sir!" he yelled a little louder than he meant. as his fellow students fell in line to,he couldn't help but feel a little prideful. he cracked a smile. here he was, going to get his own Sword. from a back land frozen wasteland he was,yet he had made it this far. as his teacher walked past,he immediately stood straighter. he did not want to loose his teeth,he needed them for smiling and talking.oh and eating properly. as he turned and started walking at the order,he couldn't help but smile.only had to sit through a boring ceremony, and he would be sailing the stars and almost dying at the hands of merciless scum. and maybe he to would one day whack recruits with the flat of his blade.

Dylan woke up and looked around. He saw the empty bottle of scotch on the table, and a half eaten burger." Jack, you're going to get us expelled" He said out loud. He sat up and thought about today. He thought about the Night Crawler and it's sleek black hull. He took a deep sniff and realized his deep need for a shower. " Feth, hope I can take one later" He thought putting some deoderant on . Slipping a pair of pants and a hardly matching shirt on, he hustled out into the marked area and saluted, waiting for more information.

Garan woke up to the sound of his alarm clock going off. This was one of the few occasions when he set an alarm, but also one of the occasions he couldn't be late for. The day he got his sword, and command of his own vessel. He had been awaiting this day for his whole life and now, finally, he would be able to accomplish his dream of exploring the stars in his own ship. He could imagine his ship now. The sleek black hull of the Void Phoenix, and the advanced AI computer system. He couldn't wait to gain command. Over the past weeks, since he had recived the schematics of his new ship, Garan had spent every spare moment he had familierising himself with his ship. 600,000 Metric tons, 1.1km long, and 600m wide. A computer core with storage in excess of 200 Yottabytes, and a processing core that ran of it's own fusion reactor. This ship had the best computer systems avalible to the Federation instaled in its mainframe, and had been offered to Garan on account of, as well as his exceptional performance at the training school, his natural affinity with technology and science. He he got dressed, and checked over his dress uniform, ready for the ceremony later. He had just finished getting dressed, when he heard the admirals’ voice booming through the hallways. He opened his door, and strode outside. Outside, he saw his fellow cadets running around, and heard the panic of one of his class mates who had overslept. 'Garan!' someone said. He turned to see who it was, 'Good Luck!' the same voice said. His eyes swung left and right as he urgently searched the room for the owner of the voice, then he found who he was looking for. Kalar Harris was one of the training schools junior instructors, much friendlier than the senior staff members, and a good friend of Garan's. It was him who had showed Garan around when he first arrived at the school six years ago, and him who had offered help when Garan needed to revise for his final exam. He glanced to his friend, and turned back around. He ran out of his dorm room, and to the assembly point where the training officer, Admiral Sharpe, was waiting.

He said putting his uniform on. "And I feel like it" walking out he saw Sierra running to catch up with her friends. "Wow" is all he could muster. " Dylan!" Kayla said walking over to him "Oh hey" He said Sierra still on his mind. " Where is Adam?" he asked turning to his old friend." Oh he is with Kyle and the others" she said with a funny face. "Well old pal, it's just you and me" He said chatting to his friend on the way to the ceromony.

BIC: …..Graduation….. The sun crept trough the half closed window, Revealing a young beautiful woman. Her Bright blue hair, gleaming in the first light. The sun crept further in the room, revealing an organized, sober room. The serenity of the room suddenly erupted. Trix woke up as her alarm squealed to life, She quickly jumped out of bed, silencing her alarm. For the past six years she was always the first to awake in her group. It used to infuriate her, that people would spill daylight. Back on Aria people only had seven hours of light in a single day, and each second of the light was used to its upmost importance. But over the years she had grown accustomed to the different mentality here on earth. They weren’t wrong, just different. Trix stretched her body as she tried to disperse the last lingering sleepy parts. She placed herself on the ground and started her morning ritual of physical exercise. While she started stretching her mind flew off. Today was Graduation day, she would receive her Sword and ship. It was a glorious day for the House of Zedong, not only would they continue their tradition of military involvement. But this time, the firstborn of the House was chosen to serve in the centennial fleet. Only the best were chosen and she would make her House proud. She had even received the honor of taking control of a “Paladin Cruiser”. One of the most vital parts of a fleet, the responsibility to keep everyone under her watch alive. She switched position and started her sit-ups. Meanwhile she looked to her desk with the holo-projector. Her internal data-processor connected with the device. The projector spinned softly as it showed a three dimensional picture of her very own ship.”Aslinde” she softly whispered while observing her ship. Her eyes followed the stark lines of the ship. Her internal processor showed her the specifics of the ship, manpower, speed, hull-density. It was beautiful, an intrinsic piece of art. Trix jumped back on her feet and with a fast command the holo-projetor went back to sleep. The Admiral would soon be here. She quickly entered the shower, cleansing her body. Under the hot steaming shower she saw her own reflection in the window. And like everyone else the first thing she noticed was her Blue hair. During the Great Expansion one of her ancestors altered his own genitical composure. And for reasons lost in time, he changed the dominant hair gene into blue. Giving every member of her house the distinct blue hair. But that was not all he did, you could say the House of Zedong was eccentric, but they were no idiots. Reinforced tissue and organs were also implemented, a fact that made her extremely grateful for her ancestor. It made dealing with the spine breaking G-forces of fast combat bearable. It kept her arteries open so she wouldn’t faint. And the most important thing was that she didn’t had to worry about ‘Space Conditioning’. During the great expansion this caused the dead of many. People lived in ships for many years trying to get to their desired planet, in zero G conditions. This made their body’s frail, muscle composure lowered. And when they finally reached their planet, the gravity broke them down, blood flowed slowly, reaction times decreased significantly. But luckily her ancestors dabbling in his genitival composure made her immune to the ‘Space Condition’. And most importantly he reorganized the wiring of the brain, increasing the average IQ significantly. This made the house of Zedong Powerful on Aria. But more importantly for Trix, it made the difficult calculations of interstellar travel much easier. She was the only Cadet of her year to get a Jump Dispersion Percentage of 0.1 . If she had to admit, this made her unbelievably proud. Trix dried herself and threw the towel in the basket. She pulled her uniform from the closet and got dressed. She observed herself in the mirror, she looked like a true Navel Cadet. She opened her door at the same moment as the Admiral entered. Trix stood at her designated spot as she watched her fellow cadets sprinting out of their rooms, trying to obey the Admirals order. The Admiral nodded at Trix as she saw her standing in position like every day for the past six years. Trix Answered the gesture, The Admiral was a hard teacher, every day she pushed everyone to excellence. Her methods weren’t gentle, but they gave results. Trix was proud to be a student of the Admiral.

Outside, he saw his fellow cadets running around, and heared the panic of one of his class mates who had overslept. 'Garan!' someone said. He turned to see who it was, 'Good Luck!' the same voice said. His eyes swung left and right as he searched the room for the owner of the voice, then he found who he was looking for. Kalar Harris was one of the training schools junior instructors, much freindlier than the senior staff members, and a good freind of Garan's. Minor things like saying another character nods to you in the corridor is fine, but dictating major things is unfair to other players an derails the story with mine. The other Cadets still need to react and Sharpe's not done with them yet.)

(ooc: Not going to go too much into this, but there's still a whole bunch of errors in the main post [i.e. father better than? and benefit her rank]) EDIT: Spruced my post up a little. Mark could not sleep. This was the day of his graduation, from all those years serving in the alliance navy, it was after this day that he would finally gain official command of his own ship. This meant far more freedom in the chain of command when it came to making key decisions, where some of his past orders have been noted as questionable by his former commanding officer as unnecessarily risky and utter bravado; however, have all paid off in the end. Reynolds was a gambler by heart, and he knew this. He thrives on pressure and snap decisions and finds high risk/high reward scenarios irresistible. When his commission was finally official, he had requested command of the Hornet which he had commandeered six years ago. When fleet command rejected his request and gave him the Horizon as his ship, Reynolds was sorely disappointed. His specialty was in fast raiding tactics with small stealthed frigate packs, not in large scale fleet actions. He had reviewed the ship briefly several days before the graduation, it was a massive behemoth, it's size was just short of being a full dreadnought. However, the subsystems and reactors were substandard, far outdated compared to the modern vessel. It's Behemoth reactor only had 60% of the output of the newer Trinity reactor, with roughly 15% of that used to power the reactive armour plating of the hull, a defence system that has been superceded with the advent of adaptive energy shields, a perfected kinetic barrier envisaged many years ago. The ship also used up far too much space in fitting in ESM sensor modules and targeting arrays, whilst a newer vessel is designed with such systems in mind, the Horizon has to make do with placing these subsystems in odd locations, with massive unusable gaps in between, leaving major redundancies in the ship. Whilst this allows the ship to take far more damage as most of the systems can be isolated and bulkheads sealed, a ship of it's size cannot hope to engage a modern ship of equal size. An upside to this was that the new Tantalus drives worked beautifully with the old warship, enabling it to rival and in some cases best the top speeds of other comparable vessels as it could house more drives then a conventional battleship. The Hyperdrive was another subsystem that worked well, the Horizon could make it into Hyperspace in 0.41 seconds after all protocols were completed. One request that was fulfilled was the ship be fitted with Plasma Torpedo launchers. Reynolds had much experience with torpedoes, it was this weapon that managed to get him his former CO's recommendation for an officer's commission. When the Admiral came barking at the final year cadets, Reynolds was already up and fully dressed. Looking at himself in full dress uniform, combat medals shimmering, he grinned, checking his teeth. "Commander Reynolds; it has a nice ring to it". As he looked around, he saw younger cadets scrambling around their dorms. Few had any medals to place on their dress uniform at all, youngsters with little or no combat experience. Making his way to the designated area, he awaited further orders.

(OOC: Alrighty, just a quick one.) IC: Natalie could hardly sit still, and she failed to suppress a wide smile at the thought of receiving her ship and sword. In fact, she was so excited that she was already wide awake, despite the ceremony being over an hour away. For once, she was not indulging in the serenity of a lie-in. Fortunately, she'd gone to bed early last night, and was freshly rested for the ceremony and post-graduation party tonight. She couldn't wait for the proceedings of this monumental day of her life to commence. She got up, and went into her rooms' en-suite bathroom, doing a little dance on the way. She turned on the shower and removed her night clothes, and enjoyed the warm water flowing all about her body. She closed her eyes and tilted her head backwards, allowing the soothing water to flow gently through her hair and over her face.

Manfred Kessler leapt out of bed with a wide, idiot grin plastered upon his face, his eyes twinkling with excitement. After months of grueling officer's training, Kessler was about to receive what cadets only dreamed of; The Officer's Sword. Ever since he was a boy, Kessler had spent many a long summer day pretending he was the captain of his own ship, defending the Alliance against aliens and pirates, blazing new trails across the stars, helping Humanity to achieve it's place among the wide gulf of space. Buttoning up his smart ceremonial dress, and placing his Alliance Navy cap upon his black-haired head, Kessler flicked on his radio, and soon the strains of Richard Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries echoed through his chambers. Approaching his mirror, Kessler did his best to suppress the giddy smile so prominent on his face by attempting to frown. The whole appearance was ridiculous, and Kessler opted to do his best to look so exited. He did not succeed. Triple-checking his uniform for wrinkles or stains, Manfred let the automatic door to the hallway whoosh open as he stepped outside into the brightly-lit corridor, enthusiastically greeting any passersby. Opening the elevator door, Kessler stepped inside, and hit the button to take him upstairs. As the lift carried his upwards, Kessler quietly repeated the names of the original expansion fleet, "Lincoln, Lewis, Clark, Pathfinder, Trailblazer, Mayflower, Ace of Spades..." As the elevator dinged to indicate he had reached the desired floor, Kessler pushed the door open, walking smartly into the designated area, barely suppressing his glee at the prospect of receiving his own vessel.

The sound of the alarm statled Joesph, the constant droning echoing inside hi mind. Today was the day, the day he would gain command of his ship. He wonders about what sip he will get, a cruiser hopefully, perhaps a destroyer, after all he was a flanker in the rugby team. Gah! "what am i doing thinking about sport!" Sighing, he wanders over to his uniform and inspects it, checking for and problems, picking and pice of fluff of the chest and pulling a box of polish, he gets to work bringing his shoes and buttons up to perfection. Satisfied, he turns to the breakfast bar, and eats a bowl of cereal, placed there by his dorms computer.
Pulling on his uniform, he Walks to the door taking a final look at the room, only the deep crimson of his cadet suitcase blemishes the white of the room, he had packed the night before. Exiting Joesph wanders towards the lift, meeting nobody on the way. Entering the cermony hall, he stands with the other cadets, waiting for the admiral.

Natalie finished washing, resignedly turning the shower off with a curt voice command, and was answered by the dorm's AI computer acknowledging the request, and a few seconds later the water ceased to pour. She opened the shower door, grabbing a towel from the nearby rail as she did so and began drying herself. When she was dry, she returned to her main room, and prided herself at the emaculate state it was in. All the surfaces were clean, the drawes and cupboards empty - she had packed all of her belongings the night before in preparation to leave the academy. Forever. She sighed. This place had been her home for the past six years, and she had grown to love it, despite all its faults - not that there were many. She returned the towel to the heated rail so it could dry, and strolled over to her cupboard, on which her tailored ceremonial dress hung on a coathanger. She opened a nearby suitcase, pulled out some underwear and a bra, and pulled them on, before inspecting the ceremonial dress once more. Satisfied that it was as perfect as it was going to get, she began to put it on, the tightly-fitting clothes accentuating her body. She sighed as she saw this in the mirror, realising that she would be yet again drawing attention from over-excited students. While being fit and healthy was an important part of her life, it had the side effect of catching the unwanted glances of men, and the occasional woman. The D's didn't help prevent this either. Perhaps the one thing that might deter passing looks is the fact that she always eschewed make-up in favor of 'the natural look'. If people wanted to admire her, she wanted it to be because of any natural beauty God had blessed her with, not because she'd drawn on her face with Mascara - no point looking like a Raccoon - or applied fake-tan or any other insecurity callsign. --thirty-five minutes later: graduation time-- It was time. Her navy-blue ceremonial outfit was contrasted by her neck-length blonde hair, which she preferred not to tie-up. She pressed the button on the wall, and the door to her room slid gracefully open, and shut behind her as she exited, and began to make her way to the designated location. She heard the Admiral barking over the intercom, and half-heartedly smiled; the Admiral had been a strict instructor, but Natalie knew and understood that it was only for their benefit. She was grateful to the woman for this, but she had no real cause to like her as such, and neither did any of the other recruits. She wondered what ship she would be placed on, and suspected a Frigate or a Cruiser if she was lucky - she was inexperienced and too young for anything bigger - at least, that's what everybody had always told her. She sighed once again at that thought, but took a deep breath, swallowed her pride and put on her smile again. Today was great, no matter what ship she was given, and she had every right to enjoy it. Yes, she was going to enjoy it, she decided. She carried on, and when she arrived, she positioned herself where she was supposed to be. She saw Trix, a friend of hers since the first class they'd ever had together, six years ago. They were the same age, and Natalie had fallen in love with Trix's beautiful, deep blue hair on first sight. She caught Trix's eye, and the two women acknowledged each other with quick waves. Others began to appear; joining those who had already arrived. She saw her friend Garan, a man eleven years her senior, famed amongst the final-year students for his astounding intelligence. With that, Natalie waited for the proceedings to begin, trying to hide her excitement and nervousness which was causing her legs to shake ever so slightly.

as issac walked to the ceremony,he looked at his fellow cadets.all so high class and straight spined. it made him smile. he never cared for high class people, heck,he didnt even know some of their names. why should he? he was the only one from as low a place as him it seemed.he certainly seemed to care the least about this ceremony. give him the sword, give him his ship, let him smile and do his dang job. as he stopped at the grand ceremony and looked at his seat,he frowned. what would be his future? would his first mission be his last? would he be blown up?
he shook himself. he had been trained by a cold hard son of a gun who knew what she was doing,he was taught by the best,he would be the best.as he cracked a huge smile ans stared at his fellow graduates,he sat down and awaited the ceremony.

Admiral Sharpe walked up and down the line of cadets a few times, her fierce gaze ensuring that nothing was out of place, they were the highest achievers in the academy and thus would be given their swords by the Fleet Marshal himself. She was glad she hadn't told them that, it would have reduced them all to quivering wrecks. It had when she'd been told all those years ago.
Trix had some lint on her arm, Sharpe picked it off without comment, as the rest of her appearance was flawless.
"Stand up straight!" she barked at Garen, then gently used her scabbard to ensure his hands were exactly in place over the seam of his pants. There. that'd do.
She returned to the front, gave them all an approving nod, a rare event. Then came to attention with thye crash of Navy Boots.
"Graduation Detail. Attention!" she ordered, and nine boots crashed to the deck in perfect unison. Excellent.
"Spacings." each cadet put up his or her right arm to rest on the shoulders of the cadet beside them, and moved ever-so slightly so that they were equal distance, then their arms snapped back down to their sides. Drill-Instructor Barns would have been sobbing with pride right now.
Sharpe tuned on her heel to face away from them, now at the head of three rows of nervous, but perfectly drilled Cadets.
"By the right. Quick. March!" she barked.
This was it, they were on their way.

"Thank you for joining us here on Alliance News Network, I'm Zak Williams..."
"And I'm Natasha Volk."
"Top of the news this hour is the Graduation of nine new command staff into our great Navy, We now go live to Fort Norton Academy where Lucy Bect is waiting along with thousands of others to witness the Graduation of this latest batch of Officers, Lucy, how are things looking?"
"Well Zak, its a fine summer's morning here in the South of France and the edges of the Parade ground are packed with civilians and families of those graduating, as you can see, a podium has been sent up for the passing out of The Swords, and if you look closely at the standard on the far right, i think you'll see that the new recruits have been given to a new fleet, as i don't think we've seen that logo before- wait, i think i can see them-, yes there they are! Marching in impeccable unison and led by no other than the renowned War-Heroine Admiral Maya Sharpe, I'm sure I've no need to go into what she has achieved in her years of service!"
"You'd bee a fool if you didn't know."
"Thats right Natasha, and we all know the Admiral has no time for fools, I'm not sure I'd like being in the boots of those cadets for the six years it took to get here."
"Yeah, she's a scary Woman. But she gets results, and thats what matters."
"Well, the Cadets have come to a halt before the podium and the admiral has told them to stand at their ease, I think we still have a few minutes until the Fleet Marshal arrives."
"Lets hope none of them screw up and earn a lashing from Old Fire Queen before he gets there. That was Lucy Bect from Fort Norton's graduation ceremony, we'll be back after these messages."

Trix stood firm as a statue, the only thing revealing that she was amongst the living was her breathing. As much as the admiral wanted, this was something she couldn't stop. Trix looked at the podium, something was off. She watched as a dosen security agents nervously controlled it in search of boms. Plus she noticed hovering Holo-bots, The admiral just stood there. She let her internal data-processor open a link, to the projector. Asking to view the guest channel. She saw herself standing amongst her fellow peers, while commentators blattered like idiots. She heared them saying "Fleet commander." "So that's whats going on. She quickly recorded the sentence and opened a link with Natalie. She saw the small rise of her eyebrows, before she accepted. Trix quickly passed the file over. She noticed Natalies eyebrows raise even higher. "The fleet commander himself." She tought. "Her House would be so proud". She knew that her House was watching, as was the rest of Aria. It was almost time.

Harrab, you've got a PM coming your way.
Anyway, I'll make an IC post in a moment, and then we'll have the event conclusion with any luck.
Also, I don't think that our characters should know which/what ship they've been assigned to.. and that's how I've played my character so far. It'll be far more interesting when they're told at the ceremony this way. So I suggest people get editing. Otherwise we've got inconsistencies and my character is going to be a bit out of place.

Yeah, but that's what the ships' AI systems are for.
I mean, I suppose it's possible.. but the operation wouldn't be particularly pleasant now would it? You also have to consider if it'd actually be possible to do this, even in a hundred years' time.

OOC in the Roleplay thread is fine; it's mindless spam and off-topic that needs to be avoided. /is experienced GM.
I find it's good to have the roleplay and the discussion in one place, so that nobody looses track of what's going on.

But seriously, putting a small computer inside someone's brain and making it work and do all of the complicated tasks we've already seen.. not sure.
If any of you have seen Star Trek: Enterprise, it represents what the human race has accomplished in just ~200 years from now, and whilst in some ways it's far more advanced (replicators, phasers) in others it's less so (computers, ship strength/size/power). Different sci-fi universe, I know, but it's fairly realistic within its own setting (ie, lots and lots of aliens).

Mark had been in parades before while he served in the navy, they were all the same. Keep your trap shut and face forward, don't look around and most importantly, stick to the script. Don't improvise and don't follow what your fellow sailors are doing, since if they're doing something different, they're doing something wrong.
Whilst they stood to attention in the centre of the plaza, Mark wondered if his ex-wife or his kid were watching. They were planetside while he was off gallivanting in space as his ex-wife put it. To his kid however, he was a god-damned hero, even if he was just a lowly NCO in the navy. Now, after twelve long years, he would finally gain command of his own ship.
Maybe now that he makes the officer pay band, he could finally afford to buy his old parent's place back on Earth. Thinking back to some of the cadets, he wondered how many of them were from Earth, and not some far flung colony in outer space.
His thoughts came back to the ceremony at hand, as he waited for the Fleet Admiral to arrive to finish the ceremony.

Humans want to explore and fly about through space and pull off loads of shenanigans - AI's are just there to help them do this, not replace them. Besides, a computer needs to be told what to do - even an AI needs to be given a purpose. No computer can match the human brain.. mostly because it's not alive - it doesn't have real, natural emotions or thoughts.. it's all pre-programmed, even if done so incredibly well.

See guys, I use my internal-data-processor, and it works too! Well, when I say "works" I mean "hamster in a wheel", but it gets me through the day, so it's good enough for me.

Just some light banter
Anyway, I agree on AI's never becoming fully aware, they simply don't have the ability to break their limitations by either replicating or by adding processors, while a human brain can always replenish cells and gain new memories and replace older outdated memories.

A Note on AIs and XOs There are two types of AI, "Smart" and "Dumb" "Dumb" AIs are little more that voice activated computers with immense processing power, (think of the computer on Star Trek) they monitor minor systems and perform tasks too trivial or too difficult for humans to worry about, like cycling the autoloaders, or preventing your ship from discovering what the planet's surface is really like. "Smart" AIs are much more intelligent, (Think Cortanna from Halo, but without the weird relationship with their officer), and often serve as the Captains XO. XO is Executive Officer, or your second in command, more on that in a bit, Smart AIs are Self-Aware and Legally considered as members of the Navy, in that they cannot hold command or be promoted except in extreme circumstances, and even then only for the duration. They also have the right to existence, no officer can just delete them without cause, and a malfunctioning AI is investigated just like a human officer would be. These rights have helped ensure mutual co-operation better than simply programming them to be loyal. (as any Sci-fi geek knows how well that usually turns out,) If an Ai wishes to be transfered or retire, it can apply to, the same as any human. XOs Human XOs are officers who wish to achieve a command role, but were unable to meet the required standard for Fort Norton, instead they learn by observation, sort of like permanent on the job training, from an Officer who has already earned his sword.

Manfred did his best to restrain his giddiness, attempting to lock down on his facial muscles as a smile began to form. He bit the inside of his mouth to make sure he wasn't in some fantastic dream. Almost cursing at the pain, Kessler was sure he wasn't dreaming. This was it, his moment of ascension. Today he would become what he had always wanted to become; the commander of an Alliance vessel.

The Parade ground fell silent as suddenly, Sharpe drew her sword. The Smooth moment emitting a ring of steel-on-steel as the blade cleared its scabbard. All eyes, including the Cadets were upon the blade, she had never removed it from it's scabbard before. The sharpest eyes managed to pick out the Words: New London engraved on the blade, before the Admiral suddenly whipped it up to hover before her face, the upright blade held in salute just as a squadron of interceptors tore through the sky above them, the sonic-boom of their passage rattling the windows. In the silence that followed, Sharpe bellowed a command, "Parade! Salute!" Thud, 9 boots hit the concrete in unison just as something huge and black rose above the far wall of the base, The Harbinger drop-ship was a huge aircraft and bristled with enough guns that it could slaughter everyone below it in seconds, the Alliance wasn't taking any chance with the head of their millitary. The Harbinger circled the parade ground twice, as if admiring the display placed out for its passenger, then settled itself on the ground behind the podium. First out were a platoon of marines, who fell in alongside the roll of red carpet with expert position, then two officers. one carrying a bundle of boxes , the other was undoubtedly the Fleet Marshal himself. Fleet Marshal Louis Bastion was short, but powerfully built and moved in a remarkable similar way to the admiral, that walk of confidence and easy grace, it was obvoius he wasn't simply just a desk driver. He reached the podium and microphone, the crowd erupted with flashes from cameras and applause that the man accepted with a smile and wave, his old face beaming as he greeted the crowd, then he cleared his throat and silence fell once again. "Merci, As always it iz a pleasure to welcome new Officers to my command, to make their own mark upon the great wall of history that is the Alliance Navy, and i will not extend it with pointless speeches, let you men and women before me, do so with your actions. Admiral, if you would." "Aye aye sir." Rharpe replied, sword still raised before her face "Parade! Kneel!" As one creature, the cadets dropped to one knee behind their admiral as the Fleet Marshal stepped down from the podium, he stopped before Cadet Rose his XO hovering at his side "Lieutenant Commander Natalie Maria Rose, I give you this blade as a symbol of your triumph, may it slay your enemies, defend your friends and bring you home safe." He placed the sheathed blade in her awaiting hands, smiling slightly at the tremble that passed though them as they grasped the gilded metal. Lieutenant Commander Manfred Kessler, I give you this blade..." And so it went down the line, each officer accepting their blade in silence as they received their Marshal's blessing, then the older man returned to the podium with his assistant, her hands now empty except for the velvet. "Officers of The Alliance!" Sharpe yelled, Pride in her voice, "salute." Again the parade ground ran with drawn steel as nine blades were drawn to mirror their admiral, who hoped they wouldn't forget the final line. "By Our Blades, the Alliance Stands!" they bellowed together. Their sheer volume nearly rattling the windows like the interceptors "Officers of The Alliance! Fall. Out!" Shapre responded, "Remember your duty! The Blades were sheathed and the New officers spun on their heels to rapturous applause, headed back to their common area to await their first posting information. (OCC: Thats it, you're officers now, Players can now interact with each other back at the common area, fret about not knowing where they'll be sent, ensure their things are packed or just collapse into a seat and try not to hyperventilate, the next stage will occur once Admiral Sharpe enters the room.)

Finally, the ceremony is over, and I didn't do anything wrong. I got my sword, and now i'm an officer ready to recive my ship and orders.
I return to my dorm room, and get changed out of my dress uniform. I fold my uniform neatly into my bags and check over my dorm room. Once i've finished, I will probably never see the room again.
I go out into the dorm block, and spend a while saying goodbye to my freinds, both in the lower years, and in the training school's staff. I talk with my fellow student for a while, awaiting the return of Admiral Sharpe and our orders.

(ooc: Now that we're officially officers, I'm going to refer to my character as Reynolds rather than Mark now)
With the ceremony over, Reynolds made his way back to the academy barracks to change. Lighting a cigarette, he stood behind the dormitory to take a break from all that official business.
Reynolds hated being planetside, he had missed life in space having spent the best part of his life on board spaceship. It was home to him, and he had found himself homesick. Taking another puff from his cigarette, his thoughts settled on how he would be back in space, this time with all the perks of a full officer.

Kessler skipped with delight the moment he was out of Sharpe's sight, whooping with glee as he entered the commons. He pulled the Sword reverently from it's sheath, giggling as he ran his gloved fingers against the cool metal. He couldn't quite wrap his head around it; he, Manfred Kessler, was now the commander of his own vessel. Then worry began to gnaw at his innards, what if was assigned to an empty backwater world? Never mind that, he thought, he would still serve the Alliance in whatever capacity his superiors saw fit. Collapsing into a chair, he beamed at the other officer's smiling like a lunatic as he said in a slight German accent; "What ship do you think you'll be assigned to? I want a cruiser, something that can defend as well as attack as need be."

BIC........Graduation part 3......
Trix followed the group into the common rooms, everyone was pumped with excitment. Kessler even pulled it out, admiring it in the sun. Trix looked at her Sword, it was the same as anyones else. An elegant blade made of Valerian steel, the best money could make. They had had practice with a sword before. MAny students complained that i t was a useless remnant of earth's history. If we got nukes, why use a sword. Trix smiled as she remembered the Admiral punch him down with her own scabbard. "How are you going to do that, while laying on the floor boy?" Trix hrself enjoid the sword lesson, somehow she felt completly free as she twirrled around in a deadly dance. She was pulled out of her toughts, when Kessler asked about ship assingnments. "Ships are assigned, to your own abbilities Kessler. You know that. And to be frank everyone knows your one of the best at close distance battles." Kessler grinned. "Probably, so happy with your Buffer task?" Kessler saw Trix frown. "Oh come on, a jump dispersion percentage of 0.1! That just shouts Buffer, to me." "Couldn't agree more." Natalie said. "And you probably going to get something with lots of toys." Kessler stated. Natalie laughed. "Its like it is already written down, what we're going to fly."

Trix raised her shoulders. "Don't know, But they would be fools to don't use the captains strenghts." Kessler nodded. "But bureaucracy has a nasty habit of screwing things over." "Well kessler, if they give you my Buffer, trust me i'll be the first in line. To kick their arse." Trix joked. "And i'll be right behind you." Kessler laughed. After the laughing died, Trix looked up. "The only thing i don't know is where we heading... Any ideas?" She looked around and no one answered. Everyone tought the same. They were part of the centenial fleet, the eyes of the alliance rested upon them. Everyone hoped they wouldn't just fly around and parade. That the alliance would keep their shiny symbol away, from the real job. But the truth was.... No one knew.

"Do you want to know what ships you have been assigned?" Garan asked the rest of the group. "I was reading up on naval combat reguations and ship specs, and I found a list of the ships in orbit of the earth, and their captains. There were several listed as -Pending- so, being the inquisitive person I am, I looked a bit deeper. It turns out these ships are destined for our command. They were listed with full specs, as well as the name of the cadet who will take command."

The Pioneer - Natalie Maria Rose – Battleship
Silent Star - Manfred Kessler – Cruiser
Aslinde - Trix Zedong – Paladin Cruiser
Horizon - Mark Reynolds – Battleship
The Mutt - Issac Vangard – Frigate
The Night Crawler - Dylan C. Barlow – Cruiser

Reynolds moved over to the group of graduates in the common room.
Overhearing the conversation of ship allocation of his fellow officers of the 14th Fleet, he decided to find out more about his colleagues. "Well I'll be, a youngster in command a ship of the line. Fleet command must really see something in you kid"

"In all of us," Garan replies. "A whole fleet under the command of new officers, including two battleships, a carrier, and some of the best technology in the navy!"

Post by: Darkvoidof40k
Natalie's jaw dropped wide open in surprise. "Wha-what did you say?" She asked in disbelief.
"You're going to be the captain of the.. heh.. 'little' beauty that is The Pioneer, first of the Mars-pattern Battleship class."
Natalie just stood there, awestruck. Was she dreaming? How could this be possible? She was so young and inexperienced.. she suddenly felt very alone and very afraid - afraid that she wasn't able to command such a mighty vessel. Gazing over the specs of her new ship on the data-pad that Garen had handed her, she saw that it was a pinnacle of human technology - one of, if not the most advanced battleship; fresh out of the shipyards and having undergone only limited testing.
She was overwhelmed. She didn't know what was worse; how sad her cowardice was or her fear of such great responsibility. Sure, she'd studied long and hard over the last six years, but she'd never expected this. She hadn't exactly graduated as a genius or displayed an extraordinary tactical acumen. She couldn't understand why she had been blessed - or perhaps cursed - with such massive responsibility.
"Hey, are you alright?" Trix asked softly, placing a hand on Natalie's shoulder. It was only then that she realised she had started crying.
"Yeah, I'm fine.." She replied quietly, before turning and running. She didn't know where to, and she heard the startled and confused voices of her fellow cadets behind her as she left them.

The crowd was thinning now, partly because the excitement was over, but mostly because of the Marines who were politely but firmly guiding them from the base, standing behind her Marshal, Sharpe watched the herding without really seeing it, thinking of the task ahead and the possibilities it offered.
She pulled a cigar from a pocket and cut of the end with a tiny device she pulled from another, then lit it with a match retrieved from the first pocket, The Marshal's XO pulled a face, but remained silent. not wanting to risk the ire of her boss.
"You've managed very well, Sharpe." the Marshal told her, watching her blow a smoke ring up towards the circling Interceptors, "You may have broken another record, so many recruits passing so highly, I understand they're getting the best craft available."
"Most of them are." Sharpe replied, not looking at him, "I'm still being stonewalled on one account."
"Be reasonable." the Marshal asked, glancing back at his xo when she made an irritated noise at the admirals rudeness, "she just graduated and no-one is supposed to know about the Mars-class until it is released next week."
"All due respect sir, thats crap. She scored 98 in her combat trials, Lt Commander Rose will be able to coax more out of The Pioneer than any other officer, and considering where you're sending us i doubt we're going to be able to tell anyone. "
"You're adamant then." the Marshal asked, an eyebrow raised, "you want to put our finest battleship into the hands of a child."
"You put me in command of an ore-grubbler, and look how that turned out." Sharpe ran a finger down the line of scaring across her face, "You owe me skipper."
The Marshal held up a hand to ward her off, "Alright, Merde. I'll sign off on it." He sighed and turned away, "you know, sometime i wonder what would have happened if i'd stood up for you at your graduation, had gotten you the ship you wanted."
"I do sir." sharpe replied, staring up at the circling strike-craft, "New London would have died."

Garan sat in the common area with the rest of the newly apointed officers, most of which still hadn't got over the news of their ship allocations. They began talking about specifications, and it soon became a game of technical one-up-man-ship.
"My ship has the most powerful computer ever instaled in the navy, as well as the latest AI system around." Garan said to the rest of the group, "It can perform a whole battle simulation, and create a tactical report, in less time than most ships can produce a single firing solution. 200 yottabytes of storage, and 400 omniplatimum processor cores, supported by thousands of liters of organic gel circuits and relays."

Sarpe was on her way back to the cadet building when she saw a single figure burst through the doors at a run, heading away from the building like a startled rabbit, The admiral sighed and placed her cap back upon her head, then inflated her lungs.

Reynolds chuckled "Don't get ideas, I wouldn't be surprised if the fleet was split. I find it unlikely that Fleet command would be as incompetent to create a new battlegroup from rookies"
"It's likely that we'll be reassigned to group with other vessels with experienced CO's, or at the very least put the fleet on patrols."
Looking at the roster, Reynolds noticed a severe lack of escorts. There were only three escort vessels to the five capital ships, usually this was the other way round, with at least four escorts to each capital ship. What on earth were the geezers at Fleet command thinking? An interdiction force of bombers and frigates could cripple this fleet at a fraction of the cost of the entire fleet.
Looking at the overview of the fleet, there were also only two older recommissioned ships which were in all regards, expendable. The rest were newly commissioned, untested ships fresh from the shipyards with preliminary trials just completed. If this was some new tactic, Reynolds didn't like it. He had seen capital ships without escorts being ambushed before, and they lacked the maneuverability to avoid a mass of bombers and torpedoes. If they were sent on any serious exercise, it would be a slaughterhouse. Such experimental vessels should only be fielded in limited numbers to test their effectiveness, placing them all in one place was a massive gamble.
32785
Post by: RaptorsTalon
Garan looks to Reynolds, and considers his point. There really aren't enough escorts in the fleet.
he makes a mental note to ask the CO of the fleet about this once they were underway, and send a message to command if the CO doesn't know.

Doing some quick mental calculations, each one of these blades was worth a small fortune, and yet, these were given to each of us, all 9 of us.
Unable to resist, joesph wandered over to look at the data-pad that (raptortallon [sorrry cannot remember you name ]) was waving around. Glancing down the list, he paused at his name, and his ship, a mars pattern destroyer, armed with lots of heavy weapons.
He collapsed, the emotion of the news washing over him in a blur. The last thing he saw before he dropped was the other cadets turning at the noise.

Snarky wrote:So, is our XO an non commissioned officer? I can't see how a Lt.Commander can order any other commissioned officer around. Your Xo is another character of your devising, but story wise is pulled from those who didn't quite make it into Norton. He/She can be any rank lower than yours, from Sergeant to Midshipman, Ensign to Lieutenant, his/her authority comes from being your apprentice and having passed basic command tests. In essence, he/she knows enough to take over if the worst happens, and if he watches carefully enough he/she'll be given their own ship, gain a promotion to command rank, and the circle starts again. Think of being an XO as an easier, but longer taking, version of the training what your characters went through, but takes place in the field.

Lord Harrab wrote:Sarpe was on her way back to the cadet building when she saw a single figure burst through the doors at a run, heading away from the building like a startled rabbit, The Admiral sighed and placed her cap back upon her head, then inflated her lungs. "Commander Rose!" she bellowed, in a voice so loud and commanding several nearby cadets cowered, "you will stand your ground!" Commander Rose. Commander. That'd take some getting used to. Tentatively, Natalie stopped and turned to face her old teacher, tears running down her face. "You get your act together and march your arse back in their now, young missie!" Sharpe scolded her. Natalie was even more embarressed and ashamed when she saw the imposing figure next to Sharpe - the Fleet General, and his XO hovering nearby. She'd never felt so humiliated in her entire life. It was worse than that time she fell into a cow pat in front of the entire eighth grade; worse than the time she'd dated a transexual man; worse even than the time she'd got so drunk that she.. well, that was enough of that story. She swallowed, and managed a quick salute with a quivering hand and a quiet "Yes ma'am," before she turned and walked back to the common room, metaphorical tail between her legs. -- The Fleet General turned and shot Admiral Sharpe a glare of contempt; not for her, but for her student. The Admiral went bright red with fury that she had been publically embarrassed so. She decided that she would have a private word with Commander Rose later on.. but for now, she had to focus on her guest. -- Natalie returned to the common room, and was greeted by Garan, who saw he distress and quickly enveloped her in a friendly hug. "Oh, Garan, I'm such an idiot. I don't deserve this," Natalie whispered into his ear, her voice filled with regret. Looking over Garan's shoulder, she saw Trix heading towards them, and also noted some commotion taking place in another area of the common room, between a few of the men.

Trix watched as tears fell from Natalies eyes. "Hey, are you alright?" She asked placing her hand on Natalie's shoulders. "I'm fine." she said before turning and running away. Trix looked at the Data-pad, trying to find out what upset her. Her eyes grinded to a halt as she saw it. A Battleship. No wonder she ran away. They were friends from the moment they sat foot in this academy, they spent years together. They knew what the other one tick. And if their was one fear, She had it was great responsibillity. Trix sighed, she knew Natalie would never admit it. But she didn't wanted to be alone. She followed her trail outside, seeing her running across the courtyard. She prepared to run, when suddenly the voice of the admiral boomed in the air. "Natalie, you really chose the wrong moment to break down." She quickly tagged along with the Admiral stepping towards Natalie. If she threw in a good word, then maybe this wouldn't end badly.

The door opened, the new officers fell silent as Admiral Sharpe stepped through, seething with silent rage.
"Step away from Commander Rose." she ordered, her voice perfectly calm and controlled, the others did so they had never seen the admiral so angry and had no desire to be anywhere near when she exploded.
The Admiral moved to stand face to face with the younger woman, and rose saw for the first time the extent of the burns on her superiors face, they ran like tiny rivers across her smoother skin, but it was the eyes that kept her gaze, steel grey and furious.
"Do you know where you are, Commander?"
"yes ma'am. Fort Norton Ma'am."
"And do you know what we do here?" Still that calm tone, seems the fuse was still lit.
"train-.. Train Officers for Ship Command, Ma'am."
"and do you know who that man with me was?"
'yes ma'am, Fleet Marshal, Ma'am."
"Indeed it was, and do you know what he had just agreed to do? Something I just stuck my neck out to get?"
"No Ma'am."
"I had just gotten him to agree to assign you to the most advanced ship in the Navy, despite considerable opposition from my peers, a ship so advanced the public doesn't even know about it, do you think i'd do all that for someone i feel couldn't handle it?"
"no ma'am."
"You almost proved me wrong. and if you even think of do so again, i'll have you out of this navy so hard it'll make any previous embarrassments look like spring picnics with all your friends, are we clear?"
She turned and walked over to Issac, then laid him out with a punch to the gut, Joseph received another, then Sharpe straightened up and turned to the rest of room.
"You all have embarrassed me more than i can express. You failed to support a fellow officer in trouble, you started brawling scant minutes after you received your swords from the Marshall himself.." she scanned the faces, noted the absence and her frown deepened, "Where's reynolds?"

And what's up with the one-sentance rp's?!.... I mean come on, they don't really add to the story or you character depth.
As an example, me running after darko:
You can write this:
Trix watched as tears fell from Natalies eyes. "Hey, are you alright?" She asked placing her hand on Natalie's shoulders. "I'm fine." she said before turning and running away. Trix looked at the Data-pad, trying to find out what upset her. Her eyes grinded to a halt as she saw it. A Battleship. No wonder she ran away. She prepared to run, when suddenly the voice of the admiral boomed in the air. "Natalie, you really chose the wrong moment to break down." She quickly tagged along with the Admiral stepping towards Natalie. If she threw in a good word, then maybe this wouldn't end badly.
Or this:
Trix follows her crying friend
The first one is much more pleasant to read, you know what chars are thinking, and gives your character depth. (plus leaves more time between rp's to avoid story conflicts)
... just helpfull critiscisme

As he awaits the Admirals reply, Garan thinks to himself.
I hope we perform better once we have command of our ships, and have proven our loyalties and team work in a real battle situation. Mabey then the natural rage and affinity for combat of some of us will prove to be useful. If it isn't I dread to think what command will say when they find out some of their new commanders have been fighting each other in some of the navies best ships.

I am sure, as you say, I will improve over time, but i'm just not that good at the moment.
Yeah, its my seconf rp too,

Sharpe's head turned to regard dylan, who suddenly felt like he was being aimed at, then she placed a finger on the headset in her ear and activated it, "Medical team to Sixth year quarters. and alert the MPs, Reynolds has gone AWOL, find him and take him to the brig."
Then she moved, faster than he had thought it possible, grabbed him by the back of the head and threw him into a nearby wall, not finished with such a simple punishment, she preceded to hammer his face into the concrete until his nose broke with a satisfying crack.
Finally letting him fall, she turned back to the room, "anyone else wish to be smart with me?"
"No Ma'am." came the reply.
"Good, you will report to Shuttle pad ten in fifteen minutes, and Dylan, learn to control that smart mouth. Before it gets you killed."
Suitably admonished, the Officers were silent as Sharpe crossed the room and left.

"dont worry, ill call medical for you dylan"
Joesph precededs to go to the wall mounted intercom and contact medical
"hello, what seems to be the problem?"
"we got sombody with a broken nose and possible concussion"
"how did this happen?"
"the admiral did it"
"ok...Okay, we`ll be there right away"
Thinking to himself joesph is astounded at the martial prowess of the admiral, and the fact she responded in such a violent manner. But still, the joke made was bad and sadistic, and if he was the admiral, he proberbly would of done somthing similar.

@Raptor
All you have to do is try and persist.
Some tips for rp-ing:
*Describe whats happening
*what does your char think about it
*What are his actions/ what does he say
This is just a basic template, don't be afraid to try.
And afterall, the edit function solves everything
(But maybe its because, i jumped in with the big fish of the rp-forum, that i evolved so quickly.... Thank you Dark, Fitzz, Ghosty,Scrazz, Etc...)

issac left before he got his awnser. on his way,he delivered the news to joseph in the bathroom. he felt like punching a wall sevral time, but shook the feeling off. he stopped and pulled out his sword. he remembered it meant something.he smiled, then frowned. none of them really had proven they deserved this, heck,he and a few others should be shot for their crying and brawling and smart mouthing. he sheathed it and walked on. when he arrived at the bay.he sat down and waited for the others, deciding to think more from now on. as they came one by one,he eyed them up. joseph, natalie, manfred, mark, garen ,trix, dylan. all were his allies, yet he and none of them had acted like it. as he got on last. he sighed and smiled, they would work it out,he was sure they would.

Don't be afraid to describe a raging Trix, honour is important to her... and these guys

Natalie never stopped crying. She was terrified now; the Admiral had just scolded her worse than ever before, and to make matters worse, the woman had just viciously attacked one of her fellow cadets. A slap would've been enough in her opinion. She was surprised that the Admiral hadn't cut her down where she stood for embarrassing her and herself so greatly.
Garan returned to her side and held her close once more after the Admiral left.
"It's not supposed to be like this," she whispered sadly.
"I know," He replied, his tone soothing, "But all we can do is learn and make the best of what we've got. C'mon, lets get you back to your quarters, we're all leaving soon."
"I'll come with you, I live on the same floor," Trix interjected.
The trio left for their quarters to collect up their personal effects, leaving the disastrous common room behind. Outside, they passed Mark, who began to speak.
"Boy am I glad I wasn't in there to brave the firestorm," He joked, but only received a mix of hostile and worried looks.
"You better watch out, the Admiral's got security looking for you. I suggest you collect your crap and be at the shuttle in fifteen minutes, we're leaving," Trix replied, before continuing on with her friends.

Reynolds was lurking around the naval academy. He believed that all this ruckus stemmed from that idiot from Pluto who started the fight, if he was going down, by god, he would drag that man down with him. He knew some of the best solicitors and lawyers in the sector (most from drunken binges at bars). Reynolds hated those from outer colonies before, and now hated them even more, especially those from Pluto now.
Walking past two members of the Military Police, Reynolds gave a friendly gesture to them, cigarette in his mouth. "Evening gents" he spoke, giving a small puff from his cigarette.
"Apologies sir, but you're under arrest" the MP replied, before stunning him with a whack from an electrified rod.
"Oh boy" Reynolds thought as he passed out.

no, a little rivalry or dislike is good, but you may be taking it a little far, if you hate a guy how can you support him in combat? How can he support you? The fact that so many of you decided to be douches to each other at the same time made things difficult, but i think i can mange it.

I think this sort of thing adds a little realism. Having hatred and jealousy of others in the same organization is very common, and is often a part of office politics. The fact I hate him won't hamper my duties towards him, I might even be a two face and be very polite to the guy in the future even if my guy inside is thinking of the best way to make him slip up.
Plus I'm sort of stealing this character from a certain from Star-Trek..

Soon it would be another cadet following the same path he had just took, like he followed the ones before him, it was a strange feeling. Turning to the clothes he had left to change into, he changed quickly and packed his uniform away, checkig that he had folded it properly and without creases. Exiting the dorm i marched myself over to the shutte, saluting the adiral who was waiting there.

Right, most of that has nothing to do with me, so I'll leave it be.
As for "putting words in other characters' mouths" - No disrespect to our benevolent GM, but as one myself I know it's no bad thing. Knowing when to stop is what's important - making another person's character do something stupid or playing them incorrectly is way out of line. But a few likely words or actions are fine and help to keep the roleplay flowing.

Popping his noise into place with a scream, Dylan walked away. HE went into the bathroom and began using papertowls to wipe the blood off. Not the first time he had his nose broken from his big mouth. Likely not the last. "Im a LT. I can't believe I did that" He gave himself a rough concussion test, quiting due to the fact he was doing it wrong. He smoothed his hair out, then walked back to his classmates. "Where is Sharpe" He said seeing her absense( If she left if not I'll edit this)

Two medical teams were already en-route to fix your character up, TWH, so they're likely rather pissed.
And Sharpe did a real number on Dylan, more than just a simple nose-break. She beat the living sh*t out of his head - he'd be bleeding and knocked senseless.

While waiting for the Admiral on the shuttle pad, Garan had time to look over the craft that would fly them to the station. A MkIII Halicon Class shuttle, with a capacity of 16. Maximum range of 145,000 Miles between fuleing. A nice ship he thought, basic, but nice. Inside, it had red fabric seats, and thick, reinforced windows. It wasn't that big, only being a shuttle, and he would be glad to get off of it at the station, and onto his carrier.

If we can just control the quote pyramids and make sure to re-read everything so as not to miss details (which has happened a lot, and I seem to be the one pointing them all out).

"oh man,im nervous. what the heck is taking everyone so dang long? didnt they pack ahead of time?"

OOC: I left natalie about half way down the last page, and went to the shuttle pad. I though we had dropped her off at her room, and that Trix was still with her.

Enjoy... BIC:.......; a Rocky start......... Trix, Garran and Natalie walked down the corridor. "I'll take it from here Garran, thanks." "No problem Trix, just be in time." Don't worry, i don't want to miss that." Trix watched as Garran dissapeared. Now it was time for the big work. "Natalie what happened?" She looked up to Trix. "Did you see it?.....I didn't wanted this, i just wanted to be in space. Not being responsible for so many men." "Hush, Natalie you'll do fine, Like the Admiral said. If were that bad, we would never even be commisioned a ship." "But what if I..." Trix smiled. "I Know you Natalie, you're too stubborn to let it happen. Besides, i'll be standing behind you just as always." Natalie smiled, as fresh energie poured into her body. "Thanks, Trix. I needed that." "No you didn't, you're an excelent commander and the only one not seeing that is you." Natalie nodded and gave Trix a hug. "Now collect your stuff, time is ticking. The Admiral is pissed and wants us up as fast as possible. Natalie jumped up, and quickly ran to her room. Trix scratched her head, today wasn't going well. But she had to press on, her House would be proud. She took her backpack, everything she owned was already inside. Trix never was one who needed luxury, if you already had what you needed. What was your excuse for the rest then. She placed it on her back and walked outside. "Now where is that Darn Reynolds again." she muttered. She opened a comm- link with the schools mainframe. Quickly shifting trough the available Folders she found him. In jail. "The blittering idiot" she cursed. "What's going on?" Natalie asked appearing out of her room, carrying to bags. "I have to get Reynolds. Just go ahead, ill be there soon." "Okay." Natalie said as she watched Trix running down the hall. Now who was going to help her , with her bags. she sighed, as she puled them up and slowly walked to the launch-pad. Trix ran as fast as she could, The univeristy prison, wasn't far. She could make it. Meanwhile she ploughed too as much data as she could, trying to find a way out. She jumped inside the building, narrowly avoiding two MP's. She calmed down and walked to the desk. A grumpy looking man looked at her. "What do ya want?" He muttered. Trix waited, trying to find a way when her search in the mainframe stumbled on it. "I'm here to transfer prisoner #0000124" the man looked at his data-pad. "not scheduled for release, or relocating kid." The man looked away. "Hey, i'm not done, this is on the direct order of Admiral Tranesch." "Why would the Admiral be intressted in him, he's just a low life." Trix tried to keep an even face. "That's not your problem soldier, obey your orders." The man sighed. "Very well, please verify." the man held out a small datacube. Trix quickly made a link to the device, transfering the data she had found on the mainframe. Trix was relieved when the datacube accepted the code. Luckily there was one Admiral who had forgot to encrypt his code today. Within a few moments Reynolds stood before her, the guard released his handcuffs. Reynolds stood silent, carresing his wrists, not sure what was going on. "Prisoner #0000124, Admiral Tranesch has requested your presence. Follow me." Slowly they walked outside, away from the prison. Once out of view Reynolds started laughing. "Thanks Trix, you came at the right time" Trix grabbed him by his collar and pushed him against the wall, ignoring the looks of fellow cadets. "You fething Moron" she cursed. "Pull that trick once more and i'll make you eat you're own heart. You almost singly handed destroyed whatever honour we had left. I fething lied, threw my honour away. So that you would get there in time and the others would still have some. Do it once more and i'll make sure you never touch a vessle again. She released the shocked Reynolds. "Now move, time is passing. Reynolds rubbed his painfull neck, that girl was crazy. But she was right, it wasn't him alone, they were a group now. He started running following the trail of Trix. Trix opened the last door, heavily breathing, Reynolds right next to her. "So you found, the traitor?" Someone said. "Cut it out, guys. Blaming won't help and fighting definatly won't help. " She sighed. "Guys, i don't understand you, i mean is this what you wanted?" She looked at the faces of her fellow commanders. "We all came here with the same dream, to cross the spaces, and see what's behind. I don't care who started it, but we're a group now. And if the Navy says we need a group to fly, then by God i will love each and everyone of you. For helping me realise my dream.... Our dream." Trix watched as everyone bowed there head in shame. "We're in this togheter guys, so lets make it work. The amiral stood behind the corner softly smiling, they had chosen a bad timing. But at least now they saw the truth. Only as a group could they hope too survive. Two is more then one. She wiped the smile of her face, she couldn't let them see how proud she was. There were still a lot of things to improve. She appeared and all the cadets jumped up saluting her. "Everyone present and accounted for." Trix said. the admiral raised her eyebrow. "Commander Reynolds, you are not allowed here." "There has been a misunderstanding Admiral, Commander Reynolds didn't went AWOl. He had a Personal call, his aunt just died. And he left the room to talk in private." "Is that so? I Recall one off you said he was gone." "Garran jumped up, I was there Admiral, i can confirm Commander Zedong. He was quickly followed by the rest of the group. "Very well, Reynold you're back. Don't let it happen again." "Yes ma'am". "Now lets board Commanders, we've got a long way to go."

Great post silly, but a few things: 1) With prolonged dialogues, just write them out with each separate section of speech on a new line (basically next person speaking = new line), 2) Unfortunately for you, the Admiral had already gotten Reynolds out of jail.. so.. uh.. the GMs version counts. It wasn't totally wasted though - it was good practice for you. And good it was! @TWH - just say you got patched up by the medics in record time and just barely made it to the shuttle in time. The Admiral left to get Reynolds. edit: Yeah silly, I read it. But like I said, the GMs version goes. And I see you've still got a computer inside Trix's head.. Anyway, can't wait to get my ship, I'll just say Natalie got her suitcases (two) and went to the rendezvous. Also, make sure to catch up on what you missed sillyboy.

Nobody's done anything ridiculous, and while there may be some parts of the people's IC posts that annoy you, you gotta let it slide, or point it out politely so it can be dealt with (ie edited).

No, that was an example of how things can get out of hand if you keep putting words in each others mouths.
I asked Harrab to get you all to stop controlling my character before, and you all ignored it.
Anyway, I was trying to make my character interesting instead of the horrid cliches of "teen angst heroes". I understand that some of you may be younger and into that sort of stuff, but it does get annoying that others are ruining a character i'm trying to create.
Of course, it's Harrab's game, so if he wants everyone to have bland characters, then it's up to him.

Snarky, I agree with making characters interesting, and I did indeed like what you were doing, but for reasons I cannot fathom you're starting to whine (see last line of your post).
Okay, so yes, I can actually understand to a degree why you're annoyed, but this roleplay has gotten pretty confused, so you've gotta let it pass so the thread can sort itself out.

GM RULING Players may now only dictate their own characters actions, and will have to wait and see if any other character they mention in their posts goes along with any actions they request in that post. Example: Player A's character asks Player B's to move out of their way, as their post involves them running to catch a bus. Player B says their character doesn't move as so the two collide and as a result now Player A cannot catch the bus. A Prologue summary and Chapter one intro will follow this post, Please refrain from posting in this thread until it is done, if you have questions take them to the Interest thread, which i'll rename once Im done here.

Prologue Summary -Cadets have been given command rank and ship postings. - Frayed Nerves and stress resulted in minor breakdown in one officer and a brawl between two others. -Admiral Sharpe corrected the breakdown, and will formal reprimand the other two once she has enough time to do so -Reynolds was briefly imprisoned for going AWOL after the brawl, but was freed by the guile and quick thinking of LT Commander Zedong - Sharpe knows what happened but will let it stand in interest of helping morale. Chapter One: That Which is Lost. A shrill Whistle broke through the noise around the Shuttle, causing all the newly qualified officers to glance around. Admiral Sharpe stood shrouded by steam as nearby shuttle lifted off on its own mission, under her arm were a cluster of data-pads, she walked down the line of her students and passed one to each of them. if she was surpised to see Reynolds there she gave no sign, but handed him his pad anyway. "You are now holding in your hands the schematics and crew logs of the vessel you have been given command of," she announced, raising her voice to be heard, "Some of you already know these, but some of you do not. Possession of those pads by anyone outside of this group is strictly forbidden and allowing any such person access to these details is grounds for immediate court-martial. Do you understand?" "Yes ma'am" they coursed like good officers, she hoped this mornings incident would not have to be repeated. "Some of you may wonder why our fleet is so "Top Heavy"," she continued, still pacing back and forth "That is more Capital ships than escorts, that is because we have been formed into our own fleet, the 14th, and have been given a task by the Fleet Marshal himself, and to put it briefly it is this: We are to meet up with three supply and research ships and the Dreadnought "Knight of Eternity." in the uninhabited Armstrong System, from there we will be the advance scouts for the Alliance, tasked with finding new worlds for colony-ships to claim. The council passed the Vote last night, the Forth Expansion has begun." She stopped and stood before them, "Review your ship details on the ride up, and ask any questions you have, as soon as we reach Citadel Station, you'll be heading to your ships and launching as soon as you have completed your shakedown. Dismissed." the interior of the shuttle was bland and functional, designed to do one purpose and one purpose only, get personnel to and from orbit as quickly as possible, Sharpe settled into a seat near the front with a smile anyway, it meant she was going home. (Occ this is a chance for players to begin to formulate battle plans while in character, the shuttle will arrive at the station when i post it, until then plot away.)

Kessler whistled when he viewed the pad, a smile lighting up his handsome features; "A Sentinel? This is beyond anything I ever dreamed of!" As he continued to scroll down the codex entry, his grin expanded even further. "Never before seen combat duty.... first run of a promising design..... I'm..... I'm going to be the first one to command such a vessel! Got, I am honored! It looks like I'll be running front-line combat duty, judging by this baby's payload. Sorry, I'm babbling, aren't I?"

Dylan walked over to Issac and slugged him with a playful punch on the shoulder. Sitting down he pulled out his pad and began examining the ship. 2 Flak cannon, 2 heavy cannons, 2 torpedo tubes, strikecraft launch bay, and an ESM." What do you have" He says thinking of it like a lunch (YOu know like hey i got turky you? ham) "I want 3 torpedo tubes, not an ESM" he says quietly. "Standing up he raisies his voice ever so slightly "Hey, who else has an ESM?"

issac looked at dylan, then back at natalie.
"err,me. and ive got heavy cannons and a point dfense to. anyways, natalie, im thinking since you got the new fancy battleship with all dem big guns, you just need someone with lots of point defenses of crafts. im thinkin dylan here is well rounded. hmmm...he could be with me,but we would still need more in both offense and defense...any ideas?"

"Well, I had originally been thinking of this plan:
Divide and Conquer
1) Darkvoidof40k + RaptorsTallon - The carrier can protect the battleship, with point defence and interceptors, while the battle ship engages targets. This section assaults the front of the enemy fleet. Codename: Anvil (Fleet core/rally point)
2) sillyboy + EagleArk + Snarky - The buffer Cruiser can provide protection for the heavy firepower coming from the heavily armed Battleship and Destroyer. This section assaults the weaker flank of the two, rolling up the line, destroying the enemy craft with broadside hits. Codename: Hammer
3) Mordoskul + Toastedandy + Lord Harrab + lord commissar klimino - Two cruisers together will provide a faster element alongside the Frigate, which also acts as a Scout before the actual engagement. Their mix of weapons allows them to cope with all situations, with strike-craft support from the Carrier. They confuse and harass the enemy, causing as much damage as possible. Codename: Gauntlet
..However, with the inclusion of a Dreadnought and research ships, it may have to change. I'm thinking that the new vessels will remain with Galen's and my own ship in the fleet core, so that we can have additional firepower and protect the non-military ships," She replied quietly.

Garan looked over the schemtics and details of his ship, all the while think of his battle tactics: The Details and Crew of the ‘Void Phoenix’: General Power Source: Fusion Reactors and Back-up Solar Collector Propulsion: Anti-Matter Engines and Back-up Ion Drive Crew: 350 + Pilots and Strike Craft Ground Crew Dimensions: 1100mx650mx200m Max Speed: Warp 8 Year of Launch: 2220 Armament: - 7 Strike Craft Launch Bays - 1 Phantom Class Torpedo Tube - 2 Legacy Class Point Defenses Computer Core Power Source: Fusion Reactor Storage Capacity: 200 yottabytes Processor: 400 Omniplatimum processor cores Distribution and Local Processing: 24,587 litres of organic gel circuits AI: Smart AI, capable of full ship command in emergencies, responds to the name KIRK, after the 20th century sci-fi ship captain. Combat Systems: Patriot Class ESM Pod Bridge The Void Phoenix’s bridge is a state of the art design, incorporating the best of ship design from over 100 years of the navy. It has a central chair, for the captain, upholstered in black leather, with built in display screens, coms system and command controls. To the left of this, is the First Officers chair, and to the right is a chair for visiting dignitaries and senior officers. In front of the command hub, in the centre of the bridge, is the navigational and science stations. These consoles have huge displays, and highly responsive touch screens, ensuring that all the data is available to view and act upon by the crew members stationed there. In the rear right of the bridge is the communications console. It is from here that the ship’s captain may communicate with the rest of the fleet, his own crew, or other vessels and stations. The opposite side of the bridge to the coms station is the tactical station. This is where the ship coordinates its attacks and defensive systems from. Its displays and touchscreens show the status and condition of all the tactical systems and strike craft on the vessel. On the left and right sides of the bridge, there are the engineering and operations consoles. It is from here that things such as monitoring of the anti-matter drive and the fusion reactors. The operations console, or the ops console as it is more commonly known, is where the bridge officers can perform actions such as adjusting the ships lighting, artificial gravity and open the hanger doors, among other things. Overall, the bridge is a sleek and modern area equipped with the very best of federation technology. The brushed aluminium surfaces, the jet black touch screens, with their bright coloured controls, and the black leather upholstery give it an impressive feel, and an aura of command. Shapre shook her head in amusement, Dylans reaction to her movement was probably forced to provide humor, but it had amused her anyway, it seemed that now that they were on their way to orbit and the ships they had worked so hard for they could focus, Behind her she could hear discussions of power-ratios, what if scenarios and standard deployment options, and for the most part they made sense, which a few jokes thrown in for good measure.
"Hey why don't we send the Mutt in first to soften them up? Thats what frigates are for, right?"
"Yeah yeah, enjoy your flying brick! I'll be cruising around space at speeds you could only dream of!"
"Shame it'll be back to Norton."
"Oh, man someone get him a napkin, he just got served."
By now the shuttle had reached space and the shuddering of engines at full burn had ben replaced by the subtle tug downwards of artificial gravity, Sharpe grinned and flexed her shoulders, oh how she had missed that feeling.
She stood up and faced back into the main compartment, "ladies and gentlemen, welcome to orbit, we are currently five minutes out from citadel station so get prepped, at the bottom of your data file yours see a letter followed by a number, thats the access hatch to your ship, once we board the station you are to head straight there and get your ship ready for launch."
The Admiral paused, glancing out of the window to her right, "And if you look to your right you will see the Alliance Dreadnought "Day of Judgement" on its way to severely ruin some pirates day. If you're good boys and girls you may one day be given command of one."

"ahhh,space....hope i dont find out if its colder than pluto anytime soon, right guys? oh, and make fun of the mutt while you can, cause when my scouting stops us from being ambushed, you wont be laughing then." he then leaned on the wall and smiled at them holding in his own laughter.

Questions;
Is it Jump or Warp?
Are these inbuilt functions, or something like shooting four pods out, and creating an artificial passage?
Are the ships Zero G or normal earths gravity. (OR my favorite.) zero G, everyone runs around with magnet shoes (or similar), wich can be turned on/off at will.

If by Jump/Warp you mean hyper-space, its a built in function, all ships have a Hyperdrive that works by cutting a hole into subspace and the ship pushes itself through, but the generator cannot function close to planets, meaning each inhabited system has as "Jump Point" with a beacon ships in subspace can lock onto at the systems edge, meaning Jump-points are usually where most battles start.
Also, Hyper-space travel is not instant travel, depending on the distance between points, but is far quicker than using ion drives.
As for ship gravity, its player choice, you may decide your to only have gravity when out of combat, or not at all provided you can give a decent reason, (I think you already did silly, something about being modified for long terms without gravity). NPC ships like Citadel Station always have artificial gravity.

O gotcha, jump points... sounds logical.
Can we get to our destination in one jump?
And guys i suggest i always jump first, seeing as i'm the buffer and can defend myself a bit better.

Garan looked to the bottom of his data slate. 46B, upper deck. He made his way there, and pressed his ID card to the sensor plate on the wall of the airlock. "Accsess Granted, Lt Commander Majoric" The computer said in its flat, mono tone voice. The airlock doors opened silently, and Garan steped on board his ship for the first time.
