[Non-Warhammer] Great Charter: Assassin's Creed RP [Discussion/Recruitment] @ 2011/08/23 01:02:05

Post by: Kasrkai

1214, Southern England:

***********************************

He stepped quietly from his spot among the bushes, as the sun set silently on the horizon, and the ivory moon slowly began to glow with pale light. His wear consisted of a simple brown tunic and leggings, with stiff hide boots. A layer of toughened leather formed to his torso and legs, upon his shoulders a cloak of mottled green and grey. Upon his head he wore a hood of similar green and grey cloth, shadowing his face with a peaked head. Lastly, he held two markings of his status. A triangle with a rounded bottom over his right breast, and a long bow with a full quarrel on his back. He stood in a darkened forest, that which guarded a small grassland plain, it's weeds and foliage green with life, as small insects fluttered about. A large river was at the end, millions of gallons flowing past as fish jumped and wild game greatly drank of it. Immediately to the other side of the river from him, a squat fortress sat, grey and somber, with a black door guarding it's front; a draw bridge to gap the river. The walls were thick, at least eight feet, and twice as tall. From where he stood, he saw a dozen alert archers making regular rounds on the palisades, their man sized bows strung tight in anticipation. In the center of it all, he saw a single tower, rising twice as tall as the walls, granting a view for miles around. Upon it was a single white banner facing directly at him, a red cross emblazoned upon it. Like a shadow, he stepped from the bushes and walked without heed to the fortress, steps like ghosts on the green grasses.

**********************

Hand over hand, he climbed the walls. It was harder in the darkness, harder still in the shadow of the fortress. He worked slowly, letting each hand grope for a gripe, then slowly letting his weight fall on it. He did so with his feet, mostly remembering his previous grips. There were no obvious climbing places, making a simple wall only thrice his height a chore beyond compare. At last, he reached the edge of the palisade, finding a grip wide enough for both hands. Above he heard whispers, two men at least, both french by their words. He placed his feet between his hands, a feat suicide for lesser men. He waited a moment, as both their words were eaten by the night. He could not know what they were saying, as he knew only his native tongue of English.

Nor would he ever know.

He let out a small, shrill whistle, like that of a bird, and one of the archers leaned over the wall, his dull grey helmet concealing his face. He released his hands, and pushed down furiously with his feet. Like a great toad, he launched almost vertically into the air, and caught the guard with his feet, pushing down once more. The force of it launched him almost a full man higher, and forced the unfortunate guard off the wall, his scream muffled by the iron helm and wool stuffing. He saw the second guard immediately, who pulled but a single arrow before he was upon him. His fist, clenched with adrenaline, now came open, and a foot of sharpened steel appeared almost magically as he slammed his hand onto the archers forehead, the blade piercing through his head. Dead instantly. The blade slid silently back into place, as he pulled his cloak about him. He looked to the bottom of the wall. Men in full armors were swinging swords and shields in perfect, drilled unison. Two men over looked this scene from the top of the tower. One was clad in a white robe, a black and red cross on his chest. He was bald, save for the beard on his chin, reaching down to his breast. His skin was the color of tree bark, many wrinkles adorning his face. The other was the polar opposite. His skin was the color of peaches, and wore a short, trimmed beard on his face. He too wore robes, but they were finely made of purest silks, and he was trimmed in the finest of gold and silver, the greatest piece of which was a gem marked crown of pure gold on his head. He noted this finely dressed figure. His target. He pulled his bow and a single arrow, an arrow made with fine ebony, silver, and hawk feathers. He notched it on his bow, quiet as a ghost, and took aim, trained eyes judging distance and drop, with his cloak hinting at the still air. He pulled up his bow, aiming down the arrow, and pointed it at King John. He had no doubt he would make the shot, a minor miracle for lesser bowmen. But he was no rdinary man.

After all, he had hunted the King's game, mocked his contests, slew his taxmen, and laid arrow into arrow whenever he pleased.

Robin of Locksley never missed.

****************************

Especially when he never gets a chance.

He had failed. A simple mistake. The first guard he had eliminated had not died on impact with the ground. He had limped to the door, and alerted his fellow Templars. Now famed Robin of Locksley was chained and shackled down, the burly man who had been with King John standing over him, brandishing a massive axe. They were on a podium, raised several feet off the ground. Around them, the Knights Templar were making cat calls and phrases about his mother, neither clean nor clever. King John stepped onto the podium, and a round of cheers and beating of shields rose from the crowd. He raised his hand for silence, and began another of his bland speeches. "I will not make a grand gesture tonight, friends. I will only say this: You were right after all. These "Assassins" did want my head after all." he leaned towards Robin and dropped his voice a note: "Perhaps you wonder why the Templars who wanted me dead not so long ago, now have guarded me so well? I'll show you why". He reached inside his robe, and pulled out what seemed to be an ordinary document from royalty. There were no words upon it. Instead, a mirage of lines constantly shifted and formed various phrases and words in many tongues. John stroked it gently. "The secret to my rule, and those who came before me: 'The Word of God'. With this, my people will obey me, even if they do not wish to. However, you and your kind came along, and your glorious leader" he spat the last words like poison, "came and began spreading some kind of counter weight. Now my barons and wardens begin to rise up against me. These fine warriors wanted this 'Apple of Eden', and joined the resistance against me in a complex maneuver. Even they didn't know of the work of your kind until recently, but when the did find out, they came to me in good will: I would join them and let them have use of this Apple, and they would crush this uprising". He placed the Apple back into his robe, and rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Had you even killed me, it would not have made much difference to our plans. So much is the irony of your kind". He turned and lightly gestured to the brute above Robin. "Last words?" he said with a slight sneer to his voice.

Robin broke out into a grin, despite impending doom. "Just a few words and a song: Of first, you will not win John. I may not see it, but your 'Word of God' will soon rule the people no longer. I made a plan, one that will not be felled, no matter how many of us die. Soon, a great charter will replace your Word: Magna Carta, and all men will be free at last". With that, he drew in a breath, and let out a whistle, deep and resounding, somehow carrying a gentle melody. For a moment, nothing, then, death. A rain of arrows flew into the fortress, dropping a dozen knights in one fell swoop. The executioner looked to John, who shouted a curse. "Kill him! Kill him and his 'Merry Men'!" he shouted, as he ran into the fortress. The executioner raised his axe above Robin's head. Robin began to laugh heartily, shouts of rage and ringing of battle quiet in comparison.

"No use John. It's already begun!"

The executioner raised the axe back.

"Magna Carta John! MAGNA CARTA!"

The axe fell.

Hmmmm... Should players be able to play Templars?

In other news, I thought Robin Hood was quite clever. All agreed?

Indeed I do...very original...

I would say that people should have the choice to play Templars but I would advise them that it would require a certain style of writing to play...

Small question, but will we be wearing the traditional white Assassin robes or will we be wearing green robes like the one in the picture?

[Non-Warhammer] Great Charter: Assassin's Creed RP [Discussion/Recruitment] @ 2011/08/23 01:41:29

Post by: Kasrkai

That's really a player choice. Robin was a master so he wore what he pleased, but if you want white robes like Altair, do as you like! Anything so long as it's roughly "Assassin". Templars MUST wear their gear accordingly however, they may have small trinkets, like a bear pelt cape.

I'm going to say this right now based on what I've seen in other RPs: What separates the mediocre RPs from the great RPs is the dedication of the RPers..

What I mean by that is if you all want this RP (which IMO is based on a really good idea thanks to Kasr) to be a better than average one then we will all have to put the effort in and that starts with the profiles, lets see some detail and some description and possibly some pictures, lets make this great not just good.

Completely unbiased as GM, I agree with WARORK. I've seen too many RPs fall due to poor RPing, and, more often, laziness. Like Ineptus'. He makes good ones, but many just drop out randomly.

Also, I'll get Little John up. The new head of the Assassin's Order in England.

Oh, and Scots, Irish, and whatever you can think of is fine, so long as they have a good reason to be in England.

And what's this about Robin being a rapist?

Notice this is medeval England not Renaissance Italy, there is a distinct difference (mainly being a few centuries distance between the two) so guns have not been invented yet in this storyline.

But I do encourage the expansion of tools and weapons, you don't really have to list them either, I think that imagination plays a large part in good RPs so anything not too out there, not too Over powered, or not from a later time should work as long as it is done with conservation, its good to be unique and creative.

Nyah! Assassin's should be stealthy, not smashing skulls with hammers and wearing plaid skirts!

Tell that to the guy in Brotherhood who swings a mace...sometimes the Assassin's need a little "heavy lifting" of course, the heaviest armed assassin is still more stealthy than the least armed Templar...

Besides I don't plan on being an Assassin version of William Wallace anytime soon...

yes.its a humming bird sized firearm that fits on his gauntlet.and its not a pistol.it was the only gun in the 2nd game though, which was funny.

The gun was invented shortly after Assassin's Creed by Altair using the Apple.

Some more questions for Kasrkrai:
How organized are the English Assassins?
Who are our allies?

[Non-Warhammer] Great Charter: Assassin's Creed RP [Discussion/Recruitment] @ 2011/08/23 23:22:37

Post by: Kasrkai

1. The English Order is not as organized as the Middle East and Mid-European guilds. It is mostly a group of volunteers who went there and recruits gained there. There is a single guild hall under Oxford, and a camp at Hastings for watching ships and such. There are around fifty members there.

2. Most of the Baronies who are rebelling are friendly, but most have not dedicated themselves to the cause, either because they want French help or are unaware of the situation.

Y'know if you provided a real reason for your Japanese assassin to be in England when the two had no real relations in the medeval era, this argument could be avoided...

i would.if i wasent doing homework and this at the same time. he was wanted in japan so he snuck onto a boat and after it set sail took it over and went to china.after landing e wanted to get far away so he took a job with a trading caravan and went to england, were he stayed and opened up a shop using the money he had been given(by money i mean trade goods, not Chinese money as it would be worthless in england). he eventually learned about the Templar and didnt like how they tried to run things,so he fought back and got found by the assassins and recruited.

ok,all i could think of on a moments notice.
