Rise my rusty metal minions! New Codex is soon here! (hopefully)

I wanted these to have an ancient look. Almost like they were made out with wrought iron or somethin.
Base has rainy death and barren look. All life has been erraticated. Monotonous painting...

Necron Tomb Stalker!

and with boys

Stay tuned for more wonders of the tomb world!

My that stalker is posed in a menacing pose.

A very good colour scheme actually. Rather fluffy, yet looks far better than the norm bright silver.

Could we have a better shot of the warriors, it's hard to see them there.

It's hard to tell but the warriors seem as though they need some weathering/chips and the such.

Love the work mate...

Does it strike anyone else odd that a Necron Warrior has hands and fingers seeing that their initial programming dictates that they are to fight, no more no less, so wouldn't it be better fitting that their weapons should be part of their body like the Destroyer...
I'm considering starting a Necron army soon myself and you have given me some good painting ideas, especially with the Monoliths...

Why don't your monoliths have any weapons? Or you just haven't added them yet?

I believe OP's bit of freehand is the indication on the weapons. Since everything the monolith fires comes from those guns and is energy based, it makes sense to show the energy flowing through those ports on the monolith. Looks good, but the white looks a little chalky (nothing against your painting skills, but white is a pain like that).

No, because currently necrons are an execellent source of mechanical-looking bionic parts that are just the right size for skaven minis, so I like the hands as they are thanks!

Excellent paintjobs OP, I really like the tomb stalker, with the scheme you've chosen and basing it really reminds me of the machines in the matrix trilogy, that kind of dark and brooding look.

You're right. I just couldnt stand those "fishing rods" so i had to do something else (--> energy balls) i lost about inch or two in range. No biggie :/
That energy thing was pain to paint and i thing its still bit flat. Maybe adding some ironwire to model electric arcs on those balls would do the trick.
I got two stalkers under construction. Even with those experimental rules they have proven to be a quite deadly. Let see what happens when new codex comes out.

anyways here are some more pics.

Lord with scythe and destroyerbody

Heavy destroyer (those metal guns were badly warped :(

Destroyers

Closeup

Some Necron writing. I think it says "C'tan rulez! Ok!"

Group shot

Yes I noticed the writing on the lord, I love how it turned out in conjunction with the washes.

PRO3, that would be a good idea for a conversion.

Those monoliths are amazing.

I still think the warriors need some chips, now that I see them properly.

Picture barrage continues!

This time portal spits out the Deceiver and some Wraiths.

Face of the Laughing Star God.
I like my armies to be coherently painted so that golden theme was out of the question.
Worn out silver looks more evil and cold anyways.

Warriors are rising from its feet

Wraiths and Cityfight. Match made in heaven.

Stone cold killer

and more of that Necron gibberish

Stay tuned and have a nice weekend!

I love the metal look you've given them. Makes them look really old and evil.

My suggestion (if you're up for some sculpting) is to use greenstuff to add some 3D electrical arcs coming off that Monolith. The look you've given it is great, but I just think it feels a bit too flat right now.

Foot slugga lord with scythe and pointy fingers. His hulking bodyguards wanted also to joint the photo session.
If rumors are true those bases must be changed to bigger ones. We shall see.

Better pictures of lord

Hulking Immortals. These guys are deadly. You can ruin your opponents tactics with 10
of these anb HQ with Vail of Darkness.

Creepy yet utterly useless Flayed Ones. I really like these, but they really are waste of points (for now)

Sensors

"Made in Pavonis"

Hmmm... I think ill better speed up the Tomb Stalker no.2's assembly. Im out of pics soon :/
and there will be no.3 also. Just you wait.

BTW i dont own any of those Necron Pariahs. They really are soooo expensive (for mere metal figurine)
who wanna pay 115 euros for ten figurines... Ill wait till they are finecasted and then ill pay even more!

Actually there is no greentube at all. Its not gauss weapon so i decided to use those tubes only in gauss weapons. I think it needs some green glow tho. Lets see.

Certainly!

I used thick foam board (for wall insulation?!?) to make little hill. Then i covered it with PVA clue and sand it.
When it dried up I coated it with Brown toned varnish to make it look wet and bit darker (varnish also holds that sand better in place)
and thats it

Actually i like to play with these guys better than with Imotekh even tho he looks cooler

Vargard Obyron is made from Barge Overlord with Pretorian head and left hand.
I tried to give him kind of dark/ghostly look.

Bad-Sam's Necrons - The Red Harvest starts here @ 2011/11/18 14:04:49

Post by: Bad-Sam

Leon:
Pretty much same like the glows of the rest of my army. Two shades of green (Goblin Green and Scorpid green) and white.
Start with Goblin Green to create darker glow then Scorpid green to lighten it up, 1/1 mixure of White and Scorpid Green
to light it more and finally white to create the hotestspot. Some use yellow for hotspot but i like white better.
Whole process fairly simple. Nemesors Resu orb is good example of that.

Against monoliths dark surface glow effect really shows.

Anyone else getting a "Matrix-esque" feel to this army? I mean the look of the metal and the green just give me thoughts of the machines in the "real world" of the Matrix films and the green system matrix coding. Really like it.

Despite individual feelings of the movies themselves, the artwork and scenary was well done, just as these mini's are very impressive in their own right.

Oh well just my thoughts, they look great, keep up the good work and let us know how the Necron vs Nids match went.

Thank you for you kind words.

Those magnets are well hidden under thin layer of green stuff, but basicly there are one
magnet in middle of Ark's hull and another about in same spot in both Doomsday Cannon and
those dead warriors pack. Just Click it in place.

Hammer18 wrote:how many and what kind of magnets did you use on the barge? ark as well

There are 2+2 1mm mags in the barge (2 in the platform and 2 in that hand rail. Tesla Destructor stays on without)
Handrail is pretty thin so i added two pieces of Sprue under it and drilled holes for magnets.

I put one stronger 2.5mm mag in the Ark and 1mm mags on both Doomsday Cannon and Ghost Ark passangers.

I hope this helps.

Bad-Sam's Necrons - The Red Harvest starts here @ 2012/03/01 00:22:12

The restricted range of colors you chose is very powerful.

The grit/weathering adds a lot of depth and character.

I think a lot of people are trying too hard to do too much with the Necron models as far as paint scheme, etc..

If it isn't broken don't fix it, and you have taken the basic canon look and elevated it to the next level

I am SO WAITING to see the tutorial. This site is going to register an upsurge in activity because i am going to just leave browsers open to Dakka eveywhere i go till you upload the goods on the technique. I loved the weathering and the fact that you have necron glyphs barely visible under the layers of what look like a varnish or glaze that has built up naturally over time.

Holy macaroni Batman. It's Tomb Blade!

Here is my take on Necrons 2nd wave. Tomb Blades were fun to assemble and paint.
I was going to magnetize those guns, but when i realized that my mags are all but gone i just
glued the Particle Projectors on. S6 small blast is good enought for me.

I had to add that statue piece on one of those bases so it would not fall all the time.

Hello again,

Here are the newest additions to my Necron army

Nemesor Zahdrekh. I swapped his hand with one with Resurection Orb (so i will remember that he got one....)

Vargard Obyron. This is one menacing looking mini. "Touch my master and ill kill you"

Together forever ( <3 )

That white armor looks pretty ok. It differs little from rest of the army, but they are very special chracters

Illuminor Szeras

This one was nasty to glue to together. That ripped off head is really cool IMO
Hes like mental dentist.

New bad boys on the block. I think ill get full wraithwing. These will rip through anything. ANYTHING!

And they are way bigger now .

Necron style Quad-Gun.

I just had to do it. I only need idea for that Aegis wall.

Thats all for now.
