Warhammer 40,000 RPG: The Serpents rise (Spaces Available) @ 2011/10/05 16:15:17

Post by: blood reaper

The bolter fire tore through the Chaos Space Marines chest, blood sprayed the thick ice behind him before the lifeless marine dropped like a stone. Xrachis drew his blade and slammed it into another of the Alpha Legoniers who had already begun to fall back, with no leader and cultist meat shields they were doomed;

"Kill them all, let the blood flow!"

He screamed his praises to the Dark Gods before charging and firing his twin linked bolter madly at the fleeing Alpha Legion troops, his shots tore apart the legs of one while maiming the other but he stopped. Before the Word Bearers an advancing Predator tank opened fire, even in Terminator armour Xrachis knew he would not survive a blast from the tanks weaponry systems. He dived down and lobbed a dropped Melta bomb that slammed into the side of the Predator and exploded, the tank was reduced to a puddle of molten metal and flesh. His arriving troops and chief Sorcerer , Second Apostle and Scribes arrived as he plucked the half skull from the broken and burnt cockpit of the Predator and snarled.
"Cowards, they sent Cultists!"
He threw down the skull and turned to his Sorcerer, Sarthon who bowed;

"Great Apostle, we have found that the Serpents have begun to send raiding parties to the great machine. We must move quickly if we are to stop them."

Xrachis nodded but he was still displeased, every time he corned the Alpha Legion leader and tore him limb from limb another would replace him.

"....Cowards...., troops search the bodies and see if you can find anything...."

Xrachis looked down a small glinting pendent, he plucked it from the ice and studied it. So small and weak but, intruding. He place it in a small pouch and watched the rest of him troops around him, he knew that the Titan held great power. He would reduce the worlds of the Emperor to ash but the second Apostle who bowed and smiled;

"My lord, new craft have entered the system. They bear the mark of the Inquisition, what are your orders?"

The Second Apostles voice was riddled with treachery and backstabbing thoughts, the Terminator lord growled but turned away;

"Wait until they make their move, the corpse god cannot protect them here."

    WARORK93

    Name: Edric Thade

    Age: 45

    Race: Human

    Affiliation: Imperial Guard

    Designation: Colonel Commissar

    Appearance: Tall, 6'6, broad shoulders and strong upper body, scar from right temple down the jawline to the chin, stern in face and strong in jaw, amber eyes and cropped, straw blond hair.

    Personality: Thade is a man of his profession, he has experience both in leading men and supporting them. Other commissars think that he is soft, bing merciful where others would be jackbooted. Despite this, Thade has been lauded for his tactical insight and his ability to inspire troops with his "From the front" style of leadership.

    Bio: Thade was born on the world of Terrax where he was put into one of the world's many Schola Progeniums. He was placed into the Commissariat due to the abilities he was deemed to have and after many years of training, earned his scarlet sash and peaked cap. He was assigned to the Cadian 98th mechanized regiment and soon took his post, gaining experience in fighting the many chaos assaults on the fortress world. It was then that the greatest and most horrible of Abbadon's crusades struck, Thade and the 98th were in the thick of it and were involved in a rearguard action in the battle of Kasr Faegan which involved brutal fighting against waves of cultists, traitor guard, and lastly, a contingent of Chaos Space Marines. It was in this pitched battle that Thade proved his mettle as a commander. The regiment's command structure was in shambles and in the final crucial moments of the battle, the regiment's commanding officer was struck down with a mortal wound, his last words were to pass his duty to Thade who took up the regimental colors in one hand and his black chainsword in the other and led his men in a counter attack that pushed the chaos forces from the Kasr. Thade went on to lead his regiment for weeks more, by the time it was rotated to reserve, Thade was approved as the troops' commanding officer and led them against Chaos forces for years. Eventually, the 98th was deactivated and Thade was transferred to a desk job at brigade headquarters which he lamented. Later, an Inquisitor named Greystone offered him a position on his retinue, citing his past as an experienced commander and authoritarian as qualifying him for such service. He took the position, knowing that it would be more eventful than any job he could have at his desk.

    Equipment: Black greatcoat and peaked cap, combat pants and black polished boots. Master crafted carapace armor, camo cape, Chainsword, power fist, and bolt pistol.

    Name: Corporal Lokran Pask

    Designation: Kasrkin

    Appearance: Tall, almost as tall as Thade himself, cropped black hair, fair skin, deep violet eyes, no real scarring, broad in the chest and shoulders, muscled build.

    Age: 30

    Equipment: Carapace armor (Black with scarlet and gold trim to reflect his position in the Commissariat), Hellgun with grenade launcher attachment, power bayonet, frag grenades and melta bombs, blessed silver aquila necklace

    History: The Corporal was part of an armored fist squad that accompanied Thade on many of his first missions with the regiment. The two built a stable working relationship after Thade's ascension to the regimental commander and in an especially fierce battle defending a temple devoted to the Emperor where the rest of his squad was killed, the Colonel Commissar took the Corporal on as his personal aide working in the Commissariat. After the regiment was folded into another and Thade was transferred to brigade HQ, Pask remained by his Commissar's side, ever loyal to him and the Emperor whom they both served.

    Abilities: due to genetic experimenting undergone by Pask with clearance from his Kasrkin status and the Commissariat, Pask has hit performance levels even surpassing those of his kasrkin peers. Though his general physical abilities and training have not been compared to that of an astartes, it is speculated that his abilities approach that of the famed god warriors of the Imperium.

    Tyranic Marta

    Name: Helmian Gausse (Pronounced Hell-me-an Gow-ss)
    Faction: Inquisition
    Rank: Inquisitor Lord
    Equipment: Artificer Armour, Blade Encarmine, Inferno Pistol, Cyber Familiar.
    Retinue:
    All of his retinue bear his colors of black and cream:
    Inquisitorial Storm troopers:
    Jonathan Carks- Plasma gun
    Nathan Forjull- Melta gun
    Gery Bleath- Handheld multilaser
    Inquisitorial henchmen:
    Only his cyber familiar
    Appearance: Helmian's artificer armour is covered with designs of angels and other celestial beings scrolled into the faces and plates of the armour. His left shoulder pad has the ensign of the Inquisition on it whereas the right has his own personal crest, a pair of angel's wings with an inferno pistol between them. His Blade Encarmine was given to him by a battle brother of the Blood angels who he fought along side for several centuries before the black rage took him and he handed his weapon down to Helmian. His inferno Pistol is a master work of the design, its structure and craftsman ship is close to perfect, having been constructed for him buy a member of the Salamanders chapter long ago. His Cyber familiar is that of a raven that perches on his shoulder at all times. The familiar he uses for messenger work when the need is required as it can often be relied on more than vox whilst in battle. Or in the eye of Terror for that matter. Behind his helmet he has black buzz cut hair and icy blue eyes, his thick rich voice carries easily through a loud room and can bring silence to the most heated of arguments. He often takes the chaplains role upon himself in battle, urging his warriors onwards.
    History: Helmian Gausse has led a strong but silent career as an Inquisitor, as a liberal he has often dealt with Inquisitions that are below the public eye. Such as the dealings with Xenos in treaties and the such. He typically works alone as he has the means to raise armies as he moves through systems, his reputation as a true servant of the Emperor a valuable lynch pin to add to his charismatic career. His sources picked up the location of the Chaos titan on planet Hecrois and he was immediatly dispatched to see that whatever forces there were there destroyed it utterly. Such a device must not fall into the hands of anyone. He was hand picked by inquisitor Greystone to lead the inquisitions forces down on the planet. Greystone was notably more of a commander than a fighter and he never quite couldmotivate troops like Helmian could. The two had been posted in an inquisition near the ghost worlds fighting all manner of unspeakable evils side by side, now centuries later Helmian returns to the front lines side by side with Greystone once more.

    Lord of Change

    Name: Victorus "Vic" Elixan
    Age: 27
    Wargear: Imperial Issue Power Sabre (broken); Las-pistol; Knife; Improvised Demo Charges
    Race: Human
    Affiliation: Renegade
    Rank: Imperial Guardsmen Deserter (Formerly Sergeant)
    Powers and abilities: A particularly stealthy individual, who may have a low psychic potential.
    Comrades: Hectorus "Hector" Atlan; Katerina "Kat" Iala; Theodore "Talon" Mathola
    Background:

    Victor was once a rather adept Imperial Guardsman who managed to survive for six years during a horrendous campaign against Heretic forces. During which time he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

    However, during the last battle of this war (which ultimately secured Imperial victory), the squad which he led was completely wiped out. With the rest of the Imperial Forces focused on the immediate after effects of the battle, which were securing an Imperial Hive City, Victor was forgotten about and abandoned to die on the Throne Forsaken world he had fought so dearly to save.

    Of course, this was not the end. Determined to rejoin his comrades, he searched the, now abandoned, battlefield for survivors. Astonishingly, he found a total of three other soldiers during this time, which had clearly been left for dead.

    Eventually, the quartet found civilisation once more, where they elected to leave the planet they had almost given their lives to save. Secretly stowing themselves into a freighter ship which was scheduled to leave for an unknown destination, the four set off into the void, in an attempt to forget their miserable past...

    Personal log of Inquisitor Helmian Gausse 41.381.7.21
    Abord the Amoneo Obscurum subsector 11.9.Alpha

    I was contacted today by Inquisitor Greystone, his message was short but valuable. The chaos forces on the planet where he is presently at have produced a titan of indefined power. Understandably with the defeat of the Arch Daemon Syrath not three months previously we are anxious to see any form of the chaos gods will crushed. We dont need anouther servant of the chaos gods wreaking quite the havok that that particular daemon did. I will depart at 0700 for the planet where upon I fully expect to be briefed on the situation. Greystone's message was far too brief for me to get a proper understanding of the situation. The Amoneo Obscurum will be able to make the journey in 5 days.

    Personal log of Inquisitor Helmian Gausse 41.381.7.26
    Abord the Amoneo Obscurum approaching the galactic eastern rim of the eye of Terror

    I met with Inquisitor Greystone today, he made it quite clear to me the situation. And frankly it is not a position to be envied where I am. The chaos forces on the planet have recently become more and more active, and indeed the pirates surrounding said planet havee had to push out from the planet furthur for fear of unprovoked attacks of madness. The Amoneo obsurum has already destroyed several pirate vessals that have strayed within the range of her guns. Emperor willing they will learn to stay away from us.

    I am to lead a forward group down to the planet to begin a primary assessment of the planet's inhabitants threat level to the inquisition. I am to be accompanied by three inquisitorial storm trooper's who have shown distinction in the inquisition. They are equipped with the equipment required to make this mission a success and I fervently hope that their backbone is as strong as it has been professed. Or I suspect none of us will live through this mission, Emperor protects.

    The forces of the Inquisition are still slow to approach the planet, Inquisitor Greystone has been having difficulty getting through to the high lords of Terra exactly how dangerous this planet could be, he sent for me as reinforcements both on the planet and on a political level. As for reasons mentioned previously in my logs I have attained the position of Inquisitor Lord. Perhaps Inquisitor greystone needs the extra clout. Perhaps not, regardless my duty is to the Emperor and the Imperium.

    May the Emperor's light guide my path and the foul scum of Xenos and Chaos be purged before me.

    --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

    41.381.8.15
    The planet below the Amoneo obsurum is shouded in the foul shadows of priate vessels. And so Inquisitor Lord Helmian Gausse is having trouble seeing the planet itself through his flagship's viewports. He glances down at the missive held in his gauntleted hand and lets out a mighty rumbling sigh. The high lords of Terra finally approved the mission. The last few days had been... stressful to say the least. The high lords had been fighting the mission every step of the way, trying to avoid engaging the warriors of chaos on thier own turf. The fools thought misguidedly that if they forced chaos to come to them then they could fend them off. Helmian shook his head, the only result that, that path could bring was the eventual destruction of the Cadian gate. Helmian had recently heard intellegence that the forces of chaos below were working on ways to teleport thier new toy great distances across the galaxy by useing warp sorcery. Who knew what terror could abound if the titan could be dropepd into the middle of a hive city, destroy it and then flee before reinforcements could be dispatched.

    No the battle had to be taken to chaos, the time for defenses was over. Helmian fingered the handle of the mighty sword on the table before him. Soon it would taste chaos flesh once more. He turned from the view port his Cyber familiar Ymir swaying on his shoulder. The sword now held in his grip as he tread softly down the corridor to his command center. Unpon reaching it he heard a set of three pairs of footsteps marching down the corridor, his new retinue, the Fist of Gausse, as they had been honorarily named. As he turned they snapped to attention.
    "Ready for orders sah!!"
    Helmian looked at the troopers with no small amount of pride, these three men were the best of the best in the Inquisitorial circles. He was admittedly honored to have them serving under him. And a little saddened as he was unsure if the three of them would even make it out alive from this planet. He saluted formally back before setting them to ease. And gesturing towards the command center his slow rumbling voice filled the air.
    "I trust you are aware of the plan for the attack? I recently was sent a missive detailing the high lords final statement of support and the blessing of the Ecclesiarchy for our mission"
    The three men looked relieved. They had been waiting for the order to move out for just under fifteen days and patience among them had been beginning to wear thin.
    "We live to serve sah, our mission detail has already been seen to and understood sah!"
    Helmian nodded his head slowly
    "Good then we move out at 1200 hours, understood?"
    The three men snapped to attention once more before bellowing
    "SAH YES SAH!!!"

    Thanks mate.

    The Imperial Freighter translates out of the Warp into a relatively calm area of space. An area which is unknown to the stowaways.

    It was surreal, to venture far beyond the lands he called home, without a Commisar barking at him; or another superior officer ordering him what to do. Freedom. It was new and unfamiliar concept. Vic started to uncontrollably smile at his comrades, as elation rushed over him.

    And then it was ruined, in an instant. When the alarm sirens of the freighter began blaring. Something was not quite right...

    General, but now I've got the first message for everyone from nice ol' Xrachis.

    "Weaklings of the Imperium I am Xrachis the Great Apostle!, I know you are there. Hiding in the cold void of space, fearful of our soon to be weapon and know this. We cannot and will not be stopped, I have fought your lick spittle warriors who are like twigs and will snap with utter ease. No Imperial warrior has survived my wrath, hear me when I tell you that not even[censored] will stop me from my quest of destruction and zeal for the Dark GODS!"

    41.381.8.15
    Hellmian turns to the vox caster spitting those hateful words
    He strides over to the console and barks at the technician"Open a channel, now!"
    "Right away sah"
    Seconds later the technician nods his head and thumbs up
    "You have a line sah"
    Helmian growls down the vox line
    "This is Inquisitor Lord Helmian Gausse, I will warn you, this once. Cease hostile operations and submit yourself for purging else we will be forced to take offensive measures."
    The slightly amused voice that comes back through the feed confirms Helmian's thoughts
    "Is that the best you can do, [i]lord? Im quivering in my greaves"[/i]
    The sarcasm in the traitors voice puts Helmians back up.
    "Now that we have the formalities out of the way and you have been officially warned I can warn you unnoficially. If you dont surrender within the next 4 hours then I'm going to come down there and shove my sword so far up your guts youll be spitting powersparks out of your nose, you hear me?"
    The typically cynical voice dissmisses Helmian's threat with a vocal wave
    "Dont make me laugh Inquisitor the only sparks I spit are the ones the chaos gods see fit to grant me. If you even set foot on my planet I will have you seen to."
    Helmian chuckles coldly
    "Oh you'll see me alright"
    He closes the channel
    "Open a line to Inquisitor Greystone, as the commanding officer here he should know what has been said, relay him the conversation I just had off record. He will need to start profiling this traitor, give him everything we got from that vox conversation right down to breath count analysis."
    "I'm on it sah"
    Helmian turns to his retinue,
    "We are going to head over to Greystone's flagship for an emergency theatre of war. Then we will go down to the planet ahead of scedule, give these dogs something to choke on."

    --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

    Inquisitor Gausse and his retinue took his personal stormraven gunship, Angelus Umbra over to Greystone's flagship. When they walked into his command center they heard a repeat of the conversation Helmian had with the traitor Xrachis, and this was accompanied by the chuckling of the Inqusitor himself. In his commanding dress the Inquisitor appeared less formidable than the Inquisitor lord approaching him but he nonetheless had an aura of power about him. He and helmian respected one anouther as equals regardless of the fact that Helmian was a higher rank. Neither of them really cared and often ignored the prefix to his profession.
    "Inquisitor Guasse, I have to say you are one stubborn sob, do you know how many times we've tried to get a word in with that dog? No matter, I'm sure you realise that we need to move immediatly."
    "Indeed Inquisitor Greystone, I have become aware also that the pirates circling the planet have pulled back to the far side. Perhaps now would be the time to strike?"
    "A good time indeed, be warned however that a Ice storm is going to hit the southern hemisphere of the planet here. (he points to a blinking dot on the planetary map infront of him that takes up about half a continent) In about 30 minutes, so it would be a good idea to stay off that continent, its quite a southern storm too, so head for the equator."
    "I hear you, is it true that one of those ice shards shore straight through a chaos terminator?"
    "It is true, so stay away from the southern and northern poles if you can help it. And make sure your retinue takes enviromental disruption suits, the acid rain isnt conducive to a pretty face."
    "Affirmative, you hear that? You three need to go and get your suits, move out, I'll meet you back here in fifteen minutes."
    "Sah yes sah, Right away sah"

    "Foolish human, I have room on my trophy rack for your head. Sorcerer prepare warp rift, and have a Techmarine begin titan orbital weapon repairs!"

    Xrachis snarls and moves towards the red ring on energy and enters it, the sorcerer follows along with several Chaos Space Marines. As they arrive at the Titans outskirts they quickly stop when they see the automatic weapons are still functioning and the burnt, smoking remains of several pirating vehicles.....

    "It seems that we have a challenge ahead."

    A long, black arrow slid silently through space, it was a blakc shape, cloaceked, painted in the black of space, dotted by 'stars' affixed ot the hull.

    it was a ship whoes name was feared thoughout the imperium: In Midnight Clad a Strike Cruiser, it was filled with the Legion of the Black Sea. though their purpose was not to invade...yet.

    A single flash was just audible before the ship hid behind an asteroid, a singe, black shape sped towards the surface.

    a thunderhawk.

    "At long last, My mission will be complete...the secrets of millennia to be unfolded before me..."

    The Chaos Sorcerer moved towards the Great Apostle, he raised his glowing staff that shimmered with Chaotic energy;

    "Lord, a craft has entered orbit. The crafts radar shielding wad blatantly arrogant and easy to bypas, I believe they seek an artifact on this world."

    "Leave it, but alert the Alpha Legion to it's pressence."

    Personal log of Inquisitor Helmian Gausse 41.381.8.15
    Abord Inquisitor Greystone's flagship subsector 11.9.Alpha

    I am going to head down to the planet with my retinue in the next half hour or so. Emperor willing the four of us will survive this assault and subsequent retreat however my gut is telling me that not all is well. I feel like I'm walking into a trap... We shall see.

    --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

    As Helmian straps himself into his seat in Angelus Umbra, he cant help but wonder what would happen to his body if he fell in this mission, would he be left in the dust so to speak? or would he be brought back to his peers? No most likely his body would be mutilated and reanimated by the sorceries of chaos for thier amusement. He gritted his teeth and growled slightly drawing looks from his retinue. He would not, could not allow that to happen. Not only would it destroy his honor but also the morale of the Inquisition. He had an obligation to make this mission a success. Not only to himself, but to every single inquisitorial storm trooper in the army.

    The Angelus Umbra suddered slightly as it was lifting of, a product of the artificial gravity in the hold. Trying to pull it down but at the same time not natural. The ship however was in capable hands Helmians Pilot 17793 was a techpriest who had bonded himself with the Angelus Umbra over 5 centuries ago. Since then he had flown over 9000 missions in the name of his Inquisitor. Helmian had rewarded the priest with whatever upgrades he desired for his ship and so the Stormraven was one of a kind, sacrificing its dreadnought transport capacity for the storage of a Rhino, it supported 4 twin linked lascannon mounts, 2 quad points and ten missle mounts. However the ship would be flying quiet on this mission, only firing loud if they were pinged.

    Helmian looked around the cabin andthen to the back where the Rhino was situated. The Emporio Vault was the result of 45 years of tinkering. It was mounted with a pair of twin linked plasma cannon turrets in the form of pintle mounted positions. The armour had been reinforced and upgraded to be extremely resiliant and resistant to fire, however it was forced to sacrifice transport room and the Rhino standard ten power armoured warriors was cut back to the Razorback's 6. But for Helmian and his retinue the Vehicle was perfect. His retinue would drive and man the turrets and Helmian could prepare himself for battle, heal the wounds of his retinue if they were injured, communicate with the rest of the inquisition, the possibilities for the Rhino's uses were almost endless.

    The Angeuls Umbra made it through the atmosphere without too much trouble and angled towards the equator, its jamming field was fully active and Helmian was sure that they were undiscovered. Soon the Stormraven touched down in the equatorial wastes, the sparse collection of near dad trees was quite capable of hiding the Angelus Umbra until their return. The disembarcation ramp slammed down and the Emporio Vault Rumbled its way onto the wastes ready to wreak havok.

    The Apostle looked over at the newly arrived humans, one of his Havoc's raised his las-cannon but the Great one knocked him back and sighed;

    "The foe do not know we are hear, we have an advantage. We should not squander it."

    He pointed his twin-linked Bolter at one of the forests clearings, the area was open enough for a perfect ambush far to perfect. He spotted Alpha Legion marines moving in, carry Auto-Cannons and Flamers. Those dry trees would light up in seconds, he smiled.

    "Kill two birds with one stone!"

    The Rhino's Dozer blade made short work of the trees and smashed its way into the open wastes, from behind them they heard the sound of massive gunshots and Helmian instinctivly ducked, seconds later explosions rippled around the area and Nathan swung the Rhino round as quickly as its tracks would allow, presenting the heavily armoured front to the attackers. Helmian opened the hatch and took a look at the attackers, several Chaos space marines were firing wide barreled autocannons at the Rhino, but thier accuracy was neglible and the few shots that did hit the tank at this distance barely dented the heavily armoured hull. (Front av 13 side av 12 rear av 11)

    Helmian went back down into the tank and tapped on the door separating the Drivers seat from the main Transport chamber,
    "Brother Nathan would you kindly drive us closer to those wretches?"
    Now that the group were away from the ship Helmian had them treat him like just anouther guardsman, they had even given him a nickname
    "Gotcha Hellblade, we'll be ontop of 'em momentarily"
    "Thats it brother, lets bring the rain"
    "Affirmative Hellblade"
    Helmian turned to the other two inhabitants of the tank, both guardsmen still waiting for orders.
    "Take the turrets when we get closer, the plasmaguns will tear them apart. Ill close into close combat with them. I would prefer it if you stayed here. You will be more effective on the guns"
    Gery nodded and punched Jonathan's shouolder lightly.
    "Agreed Hellblade, may the best man win aye Plasmaboy?"
    Jonthan grinned cracking his bionic knuckles, his hands having been blown off by a badly discharged plasma burst.
    "Best man win indeed"

    He and Gery got ready to 'shove the hatches' an act where they would stand up explosivley through the hatchway manning the turrets and firing before the Chaos Marines could respond. By now Helmian was sure that the traitors would have noticed the double turret mount but it diddnt bother him. Now amount of readyness could prepare them for the accuracy of those two Guardsmen.

    Nathan banged on the door,
    "Optimum spring in 15"
    Helmian drew his sword and pistol and waited watching the two guardsmen count the seconds down before standing shoving the hatches out of the way and firing. The repeated pulses of plasma fire were drowned out by Helmian slamming the Rhino's side door open and charging out and into cover behind a rock. His plasma pistol sparked and an incandescant ball of plasma shot out desintegrating the head of a flamer wielding marine that had been the closest to his position. He waited for the distinct sound of the reload before charging out from behind the rocks.

    His hand came up and he fired a shot that smashed through the chestplate of a marine scorching his hearts to a crisp. Then he was in. His Glaive Encarmine slashing through the chest of a traitor only to rise and sheer through the chainblade of anouther to rip through the marines skull. The fighting was short and bloody, the guardsmen having already decimated most of the marines with accurate plasma fire. Helmian looked around with disgust. His two handed sword powering down.

    The marines bore the marks of the Alpha Legion and thier armour and weapons were ancient. Intellegence suggested that the chaos on the planet were divded between two factions, it felt like a trap. He sprinted back to the Rhino's hatch before heavy bolter shells started raining around him.

    Personal Journal of Colonel Commissar Edric Thade 41.381.7.24

    Today the general staff was informed that one Inquisitor Greystone would be attending, naturally the offices were buzzing with chatter but the day went on as usual. By noon I was up to my arms in the usual paperwork when a knock came at my door. Initially, I thought it was just Pask coming to inform me of something or hand me another armful of damnable papers but I was surprised to see my faithful aide leading none other than the Inquisitor himself into my office. What the man wanted to say to me I had no idea but even being an officer of the Commissariat I have to admit having to quell a thrill of fear in my system at having to speak with an Inquisitor. As a man of my profession, I have had to deal with members of the Inquisition before but very rarely have I met one face to face before. Regardless, there was something in the Inquisitor's face that reassured me and at first we simply exchanged greeting pleasantries, the conversation was, however, eventually turned by the inquisitor to my own battlefield experiences and we spoke for several minutes on the subject of my and my regiment's battle records. After the conversation was over, the inquisitor left me a little baffled but seeing as nothing serious had come from the matter, I left well enough at that and got back to my tedious work.

    Personal Journal of Colonel Commissar Edric Thade 41.381.7.25

    Today at noon, just about the same time Inquisitor Greystone had come to visit me yesterday, Pask again came to me with another development. This time he held a data slate and handed it to me smartly, standing at attention until he was dismissed as usual. When asked what the slate said, he told me he didn't know, that it had been labeled as "for my eyes only." Unsure of what was going on, I pressed my thumb on the slate's DNA scanner and it opened itself for me to see what was written. I have to admit being wide eyed in astonishment as I read that the Inquisitor Greystone was "requisitioning" my services to that of the Inquisition for the foreseeable future and that I was to report to a transport at the docks by no later than 01500. Needless to say this took me a couple reads to fully grasp what I had read. I am now in service to the Emperor's most holy Inquisition, though for what I am by no means sure. I trust that it will be quite more fulfilling than this desk job though.

    Personal Journal of Colonel Commissar Edric Thade 41.381.8.15
    Aboard Inquisitor Greystone's flagship subsector 11.9.Alpha

    It has been nearly the course of three weeks since my departure from Brigade HQ and I must say the first few weeks of my service to Inquisitor Greystone have been uneventful to say the least. I and the rest of his retinue have been suspended in orbit above the planet Hecroin, a bleak little barbaric world of ice storms and acid rain, what we are doing her I am unsure but the news is that a Chaos uprising on the planet below has garnered the attention of the Inquisition and therefore the Imperium. Already a fleet of Imperial ships hangs above the planet while below the forces of the guard and armies of the Inquisition begin to form up and spread out, trying to make contact with the hostile forces on the planet. I can only hope that Inquisitor Greystone has a plan for this situation. Knowing the Inquisition's success rate and having researched Greystone and the rest of his retinue as far as my clearance will let me, I am certain that he does. I'm just tired of all this blasted waiting.

    41.381.8.15

    In the viewport the little world spun under clouds of white and green, forever enveloped in a blanket of darkness. Thade could only imagine what the ground of that planet must have been like to walk on. And at this rate he would only be imagining it, it seemed the Inquisitor Greystone liked to take his time and while watching the space travel of several large and small vessels around his flagship was amusing, after a while it rather bored Thade. Suddenly, Thade was aware of strong boots echoing on the metal floor, headed for him. Thade didn't need to turn around to see who it was.

    "Sir, The Inquisitor has requested yours and the retinue's presence at once for briefing." Pask said unceremoniously as he always did, standing at rigid attention. Thade nodded but did not turn from the viewport and absently scratched the scar that ran down his face.

    "Tell him I will be there promptly." Thade said simply in his full voice and dismissed Pask who saluted him smartly and marched away, leaving Thade to look at the planet below him. The meeting was a good sign, maybe he would be headed into action again where he belonged soon.

    The Heavy Bolter and Las-Cannon fire tore through the ground around the Rhino, the Word Bearers had taken up positions from where the Imperial guns could not strike them and the Great Apostle was most pleased. He brought up his Twin-Linked Bolter and roared in triumph;

    "Yes Imperial dogs, cower as the forces of Chaos crush you under our mighty heel. Keep firing and reduce these mongrels to bloody pulp!"

    ==Official Record of Sanctioned Inquisitorial Boarding Party B-213==

    ==Reference: Requisition of the Imperial Freighter ''Jewelled Claw''==

    --Extraction of valuable personnel and goods: 41.381.8.9--

    -0420-

    Scanners detected the presence of an unidentified space craft, a fact we were informed of at 0342. Inquisitor Greystone ordered me to assemble my Stormtrooper Squad in preparation for a boarding operation. Lethal force was permissible, should the craft prove to be a threat.

    -0538-

    Unidentified Space Craft comes into visual range. At 0539 the ship is identified as the ''Jewelled Claw''. 0541 All attempts to hail the ship are met with static. We are ordered to mobilise for a boarding action. Orders are to quell any resistance met aboard the ship.

    -0557-

    Our Arvus Lighter is loaded and prepared for take off. 0558, Inquisitor Greystone reveals his intention to personally oversee the operation. 0607, Arvus Lighter departs behind schedule. 0624, our transport arrives bellow the ''Jewelled Claw'' and is clamped onto to it's hull. 0627, our team arrived in the main storage hull, we search the entire ship for signs of life. A team of 4 Engineers are subdued without need of force. A-213 reach the bridge, gunshots are heard. One of the Engineers reveals an important piece of intelligence to me, the ''Jewelled Claw'' had been commandeered as a smuggling ship by an unknown gang, all of the ships official personnel were ordered to stay aboard the ship and maintain it or face death. This Engineer, revealed to be named Ignav Lath, is spared execution for treason as his skills are clearly valuable and his faith in the Emperor is unquestioned. 0634, we reach the bridge. Sergeant Falthon is found dead, as well as two other officers. The ships flight crew are found to have been killed on site by the remains of squad A-213.

    -0648-

    The ship is fully brought under control. Valuable crew members are spared execution for treason, the rest are shot before being jettisoned into space. Four uncategorised stowaways are found amongst a shipping container. We are ordered to retrieve them for questioning and interrogation.

    ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

    We were found by a team of heavily armed and armoured men. At first I thought they may be legendary Space Marine, until they explained whom they were. The Inquisitorial Stromtroopers threatened to kill me and my friends, unless we offered them up an explanation of who we were. I tried to tell them exactly who I was but they would not listen. They accused me of being a traitor and a smuggler. I protested each accusation and I prayed to the Emperor for his servants to allow me life. This did not help matter though, and the soldiers raised their boltguns, and primed their weapons.

    Thankfully, a mysterious hooded individual intervened and ordered the vicious dogs to stand down. However, he also told us that we were to be escorted from the ship and explained that we would be questioned further before he decided upon our fate.

    The tall and lithe hooded figure dropped a small stone into the hand of the human and turned away, silently but stopped and turned what seemed to be its head;

    "Guard the stone with your lives humans, it is has a greater cause than your living and I must now depart. Hail him."

    The robes crumpled into a shard of green light and exploded into nothingness, leaving not a single other thing than the stone....

    OOC: Is this directed at me?

    Cause the hooded figure I was refering to was Inquisitor Greystone.

    Also, is my portrayal of the Inquisition ruthless enough? With them solely choosing to spare those they felt were useful while executing the rest of the crew.

    Such a choice left me dumbstruck. Greystone merely continued staring in an enigmatic and cold fashion.

    The room I had been interned into was bright and otherwise none threatening. However, it was cold and sterile, offering no comfort to the condemned which must have graced it in the past. I was frightened and nervous. What I had prayed for had come true, one of the God-Emperor's righteous servants had saved me from death. But, so it seemed, a much worse fate lay ahead for me. And the intimidating stance of the Inquisitor did nothing to reassure me. A small spark of bravery and determination still lay within. I was a fellow servant of the Emperor. I was a Sergeant! So I made a bold decision. I spoke. To break the uneasy silence which had been created since his last statememnt.

    "I-I-I... w-would like t-to thank y-you sir... " was the best I could muster

    "Yes!" the Inquisitor confidently pronounced "For what boy? Spit it out!"

    I started at this statement. My confidence slipped, and I remained silent once more. Then. Then, I remembered my friends and how their lives depended entirely on my decision. I was scared, the Inquisitor had already showed me what lay ahead. The monstrosities I would have to face. I had only ever known them as "heretics" or "traitors", but the Inquisitor had explained what they truly were. Chaos. A malignant force intent on our destruction and corruption. He had told me of what these beasts were capable of, and that if I were lucky, these evil beings would grant me a quick and honourable death. If I was unlucky... well... even Greystone found it difficult to tell me that... And this! This worried me the most. I do not fear death, but eternal torture is a fate far worse than what the Inquisition could do to me. At least they would gun me down by firing squad. A fitting punishment for cowardice.

    "For... for giving me a second chance," these words my traitorous lips pronounced

    Such treacherous mouth! Pronouncing syllables which do betray me. I would rather die a coward than suffer for eternity. Death is at least finite.

    But there was something stopping me from taking the easy option. A deep part of me buried within the subconscious which had to put others before myself. My friends, yes them, that is what it came down to. I could not condemn them because of my own fears.

    "Good, so you accept my first offer then. You are happy to fight in the name of your Emperor once more! To serve His Holy Inquisition without question!" the Inquisitor smiled, and for once it was warm and caring.

    "Of course sir! I am a soldier! I am His Servant!" I could not stop my self from saying it so zealously.

    "Good choice m'lad, you wont regret it." He grinned, somewhat overly pleased to have recruited another man to his cause.

    "What of my friends?" I consciously questioned.

    "They shall be assigned to your new squad, Captain Elixan" Greystone told me while reassruingly patting me on the shoulder. "You'll ship out along side Lord Inquisitor Gausse soon enough"

    The Commisar stood with the hooded Inqusitor who had finished 'dealing' with the new arrivals, he and the others entered an awaiting Valkaryie in the hanger and boarded it. The ship took off and began to track Gausses signal;

    X'carhis watched the Word Bearers continue to fire on the Inquisition, he quickly was alerted to an incoming Vox;

    "Lord, we have discovered a armoured base around 300 miles from the Titan...we believe that.....it houses the...device to open the titans shielding gateway and ultimately control it....but World Eaters and Thousand Son forces are currently engaged and a...psychic shield protects it...we will have to get...closer to warp in. I am awating your commands lord."

    The Vox ended and X'carhis growled but the Inqusitors could in fact assist him, he could use them to break through the shielding;

    "Second Apostle, take command of these troops and finish them off!"

    Helmian sprinted flat out, shells exploding all around him in gouts of durt and dust, his armour shuddered as a Heavy Bolter shell landed especially close.
    Damn it I will not be beaten by a coward with a big gun Helmian's roared statement gave him the burst of fury needed to move through the firestorm to the rhino at top speed. One of the shells hit his armour full on and propelled him forwards but failed to penetrate. His body slammed against the hull of the Rhino and he opened the hatch and swiftly got in. Having made it inside the Rhino and now feeling the heavy bolter shells ripple on its iron hide. He sghed in relief. Saftey. No heavy bolter would penetrate the hull of This Rhino.

    He banged on the door to Nathan.
    "The Emperor's will demands that we purge them brother, begin your approach."
    The Inquisitor lord had fire in his eyes, his helmeted head however hid this and all the Fist of Gausse could see was the impassive face of the Lord Inquisitor's helm.
    "Brothers they have slighted us this day, we shall purge them in the fires of Inquisition.
    "For the glory of the Imperium!!!"
    Nathan had the vehicle rumble forwards on its tracks and it moved forwards heedless of the Heavy Bolter shells pattering of its hide.

    (this is a post that will potentially terminate in the death of a PC if I continue it, so I will stop here and allow the GM to continue it.)

    The Second Apostle raised his Las-Cannon, modified with weight balance grav-devices and advanced targeting systems, He looked through the scope and watched the modified Rhino and smiled. He pulled the trigger and fired a blast that tore through the right Plasma Cannon, reducing it to a molten slag of shattered and burning metal. He pulled back while several Chaos marines armed with Auto Cannons took aim at the tracks and opened fire....

    Thade was slammed back in his seat as the Valkyrie performed its evasive maneuvers. Everyone else around him including the inquisitor was strapped into one of the seats in the holding bay and Pask sat next to him in his Carapace armor and helmet. As the valkyrie swerved and bumped along, Thade remembered how much he hated space flight if not for this very reason. Here they could be blasted out of the sky and form a flaming meteor into the planet below and he couldn't do a thing about it.

    "Hold on Commissar, this is getting bumpy." Pask said with his usual amount of stating the obvious.

    "Remind you of anything?" Thade asked as the valkyrie rolled again.

    "Not particularly sir." Pask said through clenched teeth as the valkyrie bumped up and down some more. Thade thought about his answer for a few moments and realization set it.

    "Right, I keep forgetting you weren't there with me that day." He said over the sounds of screaming engines.

    "You'll have to tell me about it sometime sir." Pask replied again with no amount of sarcasm.

    Thade looked over to where the men from the freighter sat. He recalled the little skirmish aboard with absolute clarity. Pask had had to shoot one man who tried to run and he himself executed another when the men had all been rounded up. He was sure the remaining men thought he was a butcher, in fact, if it weren't for the shaking of the valkyrie he was sure they would be staring at him coldly from the other side of the cabin. But he didn't care, he knew that stare, in his stint as regimental Commissar, he'd had to execute only three of his own men; one for desertion, one for cowardice, and one for incompetence. Thade hadn't liked the executions in the slightest.

    But he was a Commissar, and that was his duty.

    The ship shook again but this time, there was no blast. A stream of energy pulled the Valkyrie towards a strange star-craft, made of several other craft. Eldar, Imperial and Chaos parts adorned it, and masses of Disintigrastor Cannons, Dark Lances, Las-Cannons and Auto-Cannons lined it's sides and turned towards the Valkaryie but did not fire. The Valkyrie was dragged into the massive ships hanger bay, awaiting an unknown fate...

    "Here we go again"

    Greystone smiled at the prospect of the massive craft and sat back;

    "Lets see who seeks my attention this time."

    The banter between Thade and Pask did nothing to ease the tension they all felt. His comrades had witnessed the deaths of many before, but the shooting of civilians in cold blood was one of the few things that had actually shocked them. Victorus, however, could see reason in the act. He had reckoned that there was something not quite right about the freighter from the minute he had sneaked aboard. And Vic had suspected that it may have been run by smugglers. Unable to think properly due to the constant shaking of the craft, he took to observing the enigmatic Commisar.

    Vic stared at the decorated man that sat across from him. He was trying to deduce the motives of the apparently heartless creature. What drove a person like him to fulfil his duties? How could he constantly serve the Emperor so justly? Respect, that was what the Captain felt towards him. He understood that the traitors had to be punished for their crime, yet at the same time, he felt he owed the treacherous dogs, as they had granted him and his friends safe passage. While he could never admit it to his friends, who had always reserved a deep hatred for Commisars, Vic couldn't help his admiration of Thade.

    Suddenly there was a change in the Valkerie's movement. The shaking had stopped and Greystone vaguely mentioned something about "again". Apparently, the ship had been captured by a Xenos vessel. Things were about to get interesting...

    The ship was dragged through the energy field and was dropped onto a steel metal floor, it shook and its doors where pried open by Chaos Space Marine and Dark Eldar pirates who begin to pour noxious gasses into the tin can of a ship....

    (first note, its not a plasma cannon its a twi linked plasma gun, second note. Since when can autocannons get a clear shot on the tracks at the front armour, third note, its front on. Forth note, since when did the apostle have a lascannon AND a twin linked bolter???? And if your going to use PC's to do your dirty work reaper then they are fair game, if they arnt PC's then they are still fair game, Either way none of those are going to live)

    41.381.8.15
    The rhino drives forwards the right Plasmagun blown off and Autocannon shells exploding against the front armour doing nothing. Anouther lascannon shot sparked of the hood of the rhino as it lowered into a slight dip. Helmian had Nathan stop in the dip, they were covered by the hill infront of them and the Marines couldnt see them. He had him leave the engine running and rev it as if it were driving along the trench. Meanwhile using the sound as cover and he smiled, noone would be able to hear the well greased door open and close whith that massive engine revving. He began to move away from the rhino up the blind side of the trench. He managed to get about 300 metres before a vox message came through on his rove band, Helmian leaned agains tthe rim of the hill and poked his head up listening. Everything was turning to Gak fast, The Chaos marines were advancing to see where the tank had gone and Inquisitor Greystone's transport had been captured by an enemy. Perhaps not this enemy, but an anemy all the same.

    Helmian growled into the vox
    "Get the Inquisitor back, that is your first priotity, myself and the fist of Gausse will be fine down here on the planet. Just get the Inquisitor back!!!"
    Helmian diddnt wait for the reply he simply exploded out of the trench and fired his plasma pistol at the Lascannon weilding warrior as he closed the 20 or so metres to the squad of Chaos marines who turned to fire thier heavy weapons but diddnt have the time. Helmian's plasma pistol shot tore through the Lascannon wielders chest and a follow up swing with his glaive encarmine finished the traitor. A backhanded swing and then a pivot to an uppercut sliced clean through the armour of anouther marine and his subsequent blows agains the heavy weapon wielding warriors butchered them effortlessley.

    He raised Nathan on the vox,
    "Bring her up nathan, were gonna give her an upgrade.
    "Down here on the plaent. Are you sure thats safe?
    "Quite sure, we can have these weapons properly purified later but in the mena time I have a use for the lascannon."

    Soon the pristine and uncorrupted Lascannon was mounted where the old twin linked plasma guns used to be. Helmian smiled. They would now be a force to be reckoned with indeed.

    Before I make the post I'll note some things

    1: There are two Apostles, so here's where it may get confusing. There are two Apostle, the Great and the First plus a Sorcerer who isn't an Apostle. One Carries a mace and twin-linked Bolter while the other carries a Las-Cannon
    2: They are carrying modified weapons, better sites and all
    3: Sorry 'bout Plasma confusion

    Boss fight: Second Apostle

    Rewards: Advance Las-Cannon, requires un-corruption

    Boss level: 1

    A Las-Cannon blast tares through a section of the forest, the burning trees reveal a tall and dark hooded figure carrying a Laa-Cannon who roars and takes another shot that deliberately misses accompanied by another chorus of dark laughter from the Apostle who sneers:

    "Heretics, you shall no longer defy the Dark Gods. All who oppose me shall perish ha ha ha!"

    The Apostle takes another aim as more Chaos marines and Cultists arrive to reinforce his attack, the Cultists explode in a shower of gore that covers the marines;

    "Glorious sacrifices to CHAOS!

    OOC: Just to check, mine and Warork's men are equipped as Inquisitorial Stormtroopers? Or at the very least they have enclosed helmets (cause otherwise it would be a bit stupid to go down onto a stormy world without facial protection).

    "All right men! You know the drill! Helmets on!" Vic shouted at his men.

    "You heard the Captain! Get it done! You don't want to end up dead!" Thade bellowed at the Stormtroopers, just before affixing his own specialised mask.

    The squad quickly obeyed their orders, affixing the life saving devices. As they were activated, the advanced visual targeting systems sprung to life, allowing the occupants of the Valkyrie to see through the toxic mist. They armed their weapons and waited for the enemy come to them, as they still had the element of surprise. With their helmets now attached, the squad jumped up from their seats. Immediately, almost in unison, Thade and Vic leapt into action, with each one drawing their Chainsword and (broken) Power Sabre (respectively) in a simultaneous action. Katerina and Theodore raised their plasma guns, aiming them at the remains of the rear door. Hectorus lifted up his Storm Bolter, and lined up it's targeting sight with the hatchway. The rest of the squad followed suit, raising their Hellguns and Bolters.

    "Well gentlemen, looks like were going to have a lot on our plate here! Good Hunting!" Greystone spoke with hint of mirth in his voice, although it was muffled under his breathing apparatus.

    (Just realised I have an Infernus pistol rather than a plasma pistol, previous post still applies just switch plasma for infernus where Helmian's pistol applies.)

    (heres what I would do if I was a dick)
    Helmian hears the lascannon shot and scoffs,
    "Fool"
    He depresses the send button on his vox and mutters the coordinates for an orbital strike...

    (heres what I'll do cause im nice)Helmian hears the shot and the shout and grimaces into his helmet.
    "Anouther one? really... Gah, these self proclaimed apostles are fools all of them.
    the hatch opens and the marine fires his lascannon at Helmian who calmly ignores the shot as it flicks over his head. The marines all open fire but the rounds patter off of his armour and he laughs as the marine relaods his lascannon.
    "Your first mistake was firing at me rather than the tank again."
    The marine looks at the rhino and then starts to aim at it again as he notices the hatch opening. Helmian closes the distance with ten quick strides as the fool tries to reload and brings his Infernus pistol up and fires it point blank at the apostle's chest armour, a target so large he couldnt help to miss and watched as the superheated stream of flames liquified the front of the marines armour.

    (They just patter of? Ok this is happening once. And even if you tried to call in a strike it would fail.)

    The Second Apostles corpse falls to the ground while the marines retreat, they move quickly and are able to escape while the Great Apostle overlooks the humans;

    "Fools, they know very little. Let us move, have the Alpha Legion been alerted?"

    "Yes lord"

    "Good...."

    As the ship is drawn up into the larger vessel, Thade and Pask began searching the roof of the cabin with their eyes as if trying to listen to the creaks of the capturing beam.

    "That cannot be a good sound." Thade said ominously, grabbing a hold of his bolt pistol.

    "Too right sir." Pask said preparing his hellgun.

    The cabin shook as the valkyrie was pulled into the hangar of the larger vessel. Thade felt his pulse quicken and adrenaline pour into his system as the old combat rush returned to him and he enjoyed every second of it. With the last shudder, loud clanking footsteps were heard outside of the cabin and just before the cabin opened, Thade and Pask pointed their weapons at the door. The figures ripped open the cabin and fumes vent in. Thade instinctively holds his breath, shoots off a couple of rounds to ward off the intruders, and grabs a rebreather mask. Pask already had his black mask and helmet on and so didn't flinch sending a plume of las shot at the figures and causing them to scatter. As Thade stood back up, a returning shot hit one of the men they had picked up in the head and dropped him instantly. Thade pulled out his chainsword and breathed through the mask deeply.

    "Forward, we have to get out of this trap!" He yelled and Pask was the first one out, rolling forwards and sending hellrounds at the advancing dark figures. Thade pounded out of the ripped open door and surveyed the scene, more dark figures were beginning to pour into the chamber. Thade rolled behind a crate and raised his bolt pistol deftly, the action fluid after years of training and battle. He shot two bolts that smacked into a Dark Eldar warrior and catapulted him backwards into a pool of his own blood. Thade emptied the rest of the clip at a Chaos marine who was winged but angrily returned fire with his bolter causing Thade to jumped back as wood chips flew apart from the crate.

    "Pask, grenade!" Thade yelled from behind his cover as he reloaded.

    "Right sir!" Pask yelled back as he peeked around his cover and shot a grenade at a group of dark figures that flew through the air with the explosion. Thade used the moment to lean out of his cover again and put a bolt into the helmet of a chaos marine. He went back into cover as fire pelted his way.

    "Enemies of the Imperium! Know that your trespass has bought you your deaths today!" Thade shouted as the room became quiet all of the sudden. Thade and Pask waited for a reply or a way out of the situation.

    Slow and sinister clapping echoed throughout the room as a Dark Eldar Archon emerged from a hanger door way, he wore a set of extranvigent armour and a aura of fear and power surrounded him. He moved towards the Imperials and chuckled;

    "Welcome humans, to the Shadow of Intent. I see you bear the Mark of the Imperiums Inquisition."

    The Chaos marines began to raise their weapons but the Archon raised his hand, they lowered them quickly;

    "That is not how we treat guests, but if you come to destroy us we will crush you like vermin but tell us what is your own intent?"

    OOC: Warork, you are allowed to reference my characters and include them in dialogue if you like.

    Victorus and the rest of his squad quickly followed the Commissar (along with his aide) out of the Valkyrie. The Inquisitorial Stormtroopers taking up defensive positions to cover their brazen moves, while the Captain lunged forwards to strike the nearest enemy. Vic's Power Sabre finally hummed into life, just after he had smacked it's un-powered blade against the armour of a Dark Eldar warrior.

    When he turned to strike the twisted Xenos once more he started to see that it had been blasted across the room, and that Thade had been responsible for the shot. Soon after this, Vic was then forced to duck, as a grenade was thrown by Corporal Pask. As the smoke settled, Vic could see what he assumed was the body of an Astartes, clearly immobile.

    Triumphantly the Commissar bellowed zealous words of defiance at the heretic forces.

    A contemptuous applause then echoed throughout the hangar. Vic quickly moved to face it's source, seeing what he assumed was the Xenos' leader. It had a horrific and villainous exterior, which Vic deduced probably reflected the personality of the fiend.

    For some reason the oddly dressed creature then questioned why we had come aboard and what the intent of the Inquisitorial Squad was. A bit odd, considering it was them who had captured the Valkyrie.

    Thade casually but firmly held his bolt pistol in one hand and pointed it at the Archon's head as it entered. To his side, Pask aimed his hellgun at the general direction of their enemies. Thade did a quick scan of the room, the men Greystone had picked up had at least set up a loose semi circle perimeter around the valkyrie. He didn't spot Inquisitor Greystone around him but assumed the man was somewhere behind him. Thade looked back at the Archon as he finished speaking. Thade scowled at the disgusting thing.

    "First of all, xenos, let me make it clear that I have no obligations to tell you anything. Second of all, why in the name of he who sits on the throne are you asking me what our intentions are!? Your fighters chased us here, your ship captured us, your crew tried to kill us, we have no intentions here, you do you damned scum." Thade said simply, never lowering his bolt pistol from its aim at the Archon's skull. Thade held his chainsword in his other hand but hadn't activated it yet, he was certain that this was about to come to it though, so he kept his finger over the trigger.

    A voice... reassuring and familiar. Kais could hear it was a fellow Tau's. It couldn't be, the Shas'O thought. A horrific wasteland... an arena of death... the anathema... such vague yet poignant memories... he was sure. Certain. That was where he had just been.

    Shas'O Kais opened his eyes. It was bright. The location felt warming. He could see a kind looking Fire Caste member looking over him.

    "Rest, dear. You have been through so much. Brave hero of our people..." the female Shas'Ui spoke gently, while stroking his head

    All of a sudden doubt consumed his thoughts. Those horrific memories seemed so distant... so unreal... nightmarish... dream like... It must have been a dream he thought.

    The Tau looked down at his arm. There was a set of tags which bore a name so familar to him. Yet... he could not remember whom it belonged to... "Shas'O Kais" it clearly read.

    "Who am I! I demand to know who I am!" he suddenly bellowed

    And then another familiar voice whispered... this time solely in his head "You are my Emmisary... You are destined for greater things... "

    Helmian watches the marines retreat with a mixture of disgust and apathy. They were cowards that is all there is to it. He looked down at the lascannon and bent down to heft it up in his massive gauntleted hand.
    "It is tainted.... But I shall take it with me nonetheless, this weapon shall be a valuable addition to the inquisition."
    He waves behind him and the rhino rumbles closer. When the tank hatch opens he gets in without comment to general respect from the three guardsmen in the hull.

    The tank had made its way west along the equator back to the Stormraven. By and by large the mission was a success. They had disturbed the peace down on the planet and by the looks of it had destroyed a minor chaos lord. Helmian was rather proud of the fact none of them had died. But more pressing matters had to be attended to. If inquisitor Greystone was MIA then it was up to Helmian to find him. The stormravens flight back to the Amoneo Obscurum was short and uneventful, the pirates still staying well away from the inquisition vessels.

    As the Stormraven docked Helmian made sure that the Fist of Gausse was ready to move out at a moments notice, they would be going after the Inquisitor and there were no two ways about it. The Rhino was brought out and the pintle mount made ready for the lascannon and a fast ammo feed for quick reloading, its bits and bumps were also seen to. While this was happening Helmian passed the lascannon on to the care of the ecclesiarchy to be blessed and purified, they took the weapon with glee looking forwards to adding anouther weapon to the inquisition, and the redemption of something of chaos, even if it was only a weapon. Helmian himself went to the command centre calmly demanding to be told the whereabouts of Greystone.

    41.381.8.15 Personal Log of Inquisitor Helmian Gausse
    Aboard the Amoneo Obscurum subsector 11.9.Alpha

    Inquisitor Greystone nearly was taken from us today. Hoever I was surprised to find that he was simply met by a Dark Eldar... Friend of his, perhaps the same one we met out in the ghost stars. regardless I simply hope that Greystone gives warning of such a venture in future it could jeapordise missions that do not need to be jeapordised. I will go to the ship and meet him and ask him as such. Emperor willing he will remember that not all of us are as popular as he is.

    --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

    The stormraven as readied and the four of them, Helmian and his three Stormtroopers, made thier way to the vessel in question. It was not a long flight, apparently the ship was part of the blockade around the planet and the Amoneo Obscurum had made quick time in getting close. A simple vox declaration of peace had prevented a fight niether side wanted and the ship had coasted in close to the Dark Eldars ship and Helmian had flown across the gap with his retinue in the Emporio deus The flight was a quick one and soon Helmian was disembarking with his glaive in hand, he had seen the Renegade chaos marines and was in full preparation for a fight however they stood down and he saw a tall villanously clad Dark eldar stridingtowards him with a grim smile.
    "I welcome you to the Shadow of intent, your fellow Inquisitional's are just this way, please, follow me."
    Helmian followed cautiously leaving hi sretinue with the Stromraven, if things went pear shaped he wanted an exit.

    He was soon ushered into anouther hangar where Greystone was standing, Greystone had apparently been informed of his arrival and met him with a raised hand, which Helmian took and shook.
    "Sorry old friend, I hadnt planned on this little visit, but here we are. It is good to see you are in one peice, I take it the mission went well?"
    Helmian looked around and spotted the commissar. He oticed the hostile attitude, there had been fighting, at the moment he wasnt sure how much to trust the Inquisitor infront of him... this was radical, even for Greystone.
    "Very well Inquisitor, very well indeed, we managed to at least dent thier prie, but perhaps more, I am uncertain. I shall give you the full details when we are back on Inquisition turf. I see that you have aquired a Commissar. I would meet him as soon as plausible. He would be a valuable addition to my staff."

    Helmian nods but doesnt otherwise answer, something was seriously odd here, he strode over to the Commissar and the other guardsmen present.
    "I am Inquisitor Lord Helmian Gausse, my flagship the Amoneo Obscurum is currently next to this vessel. You will all be leaving with me and departing for my flagship and I will be your direct superior for the remainder of your stay in this subsector and potentially this Inquisition. Any questions?"

    Marbles rushed into the room carrying a large Vox-receiver and carefully maneuvered round the ships hulking and tall crew, he ran into the hanger where Gauess and Stone where located and set down the massive vox--recevier and saluted the two before returning to the device;

    "Incoming transmission sirs! Unknown channel so I'll 'ave to adjust the settings just a tiny wee bit.....ah here we go!"

    The small man activated the device which created a massive red glowing image of X'csrhais, Marbles jumped back and screamed before returning to his upright position.

    /"I am Chaos Lord X'chrsis of the Word Bearers Legion, you lick-spittle prove even more foolish than before. I will enjoy grind your bones to dust and drink your blood, you are nothing and fight for a dead cause and do not believe I have forgotten you Greystone. I will be seeing you shortly! Ha ha ha...."/

    The Image dissipated, while the device short circuited.

    "Lord Inquisitor of his Glorious Inquisition, I am Captain Victorus Elixan, loyal servant of the God-Emperor," Vic eloquently spoke, while bowing to the Inquisitorial official, "I pledge the support of myself and my men to your cause."

    The other members of of Vic's squad bow down as a sign of respect, after observing their superior officer's declaration of loyalty to Lord Inquisitor Helmian Gausse.

    Thade felt his hands tighten, this entire situation was confusing to say the least. First they were attacked and now Greystone was saying they were allies? Thade had heard of the radicalness of some Inquisitors but allying with xenos and renegades? This was so far from what Thade was used to that he had to fight the urge to pull the trigger on his bolter and instead forced his arm to holster both his weapons. Pask followed suit, Thade was sure the man didn't like this just as much as he himself did not, but the Kasrkin's loyalty to Thade was unquestioned. Slowly, Thade felt the tensity filter out of the room as most of the xenos and renegades left with their wounded or dead. Thade was silent while Greystone and the Archon spoke, he looked to the men they had picked up on the ship earlier and knew that they too were filled with a sense of unease...

    Thade examined the scene, something definitely was not right about this Greystone.

    A few minutes later, another Inquisitor, this one seemed to be Greystone's superior, arrived via a stormraven and presented himself to the congregation. When Lord Inquisitor Helmian spoke of him, Thade cam forwards and came to attention with Pask by his side.

    "Colonel Commissar Edric Thade at your service Lord, I have come to serve the Emperor and if you wish me to do so by your side then that is what I will do." Thade said sternly and was surprised to realize he meant it.

    Greystone had been a shifty character, this was one of the first times he'd seen him outside of his dark private quarters and it seemed he kept friends in low places, Thade's level of mistrust with Greystone grew every moment he was near him but this Helmian was a bit different Thade could tell, whether that was a good thing or not would be revealed in time.

    "This is my aide Corporal Pask, both of us would be proud to serve the Holy Inquisition further." Thade finished with the sign of the aquila. After he was done speaking he threw Greystone and his "friend" a disapproving glance but only for a moment, if he had time he would confess his misgivings about Greystone but now was not the time.

    The dark red image of the Chaos lord began to re-form, he shines and flickers and stares down at the imperials with dark, vile burning eyes that steam from his helm. He laughs and raises his blade to a captured Storm trooper who squrms and cowers in utter fear, the Lord cackles and de-capitates him with black glee;

    "Is this the muck, the waste, flesh, bags of blood you send me? You have to be joking, they cower and beg for mercy at my hands and lack any proper skill, if this is your finest group of warriors I will find it enjoyable to rip you limb from limb as you beg for mercy! My powers are unopposed by you fouls!"

    The image fades away.....

    I'm sure there will be some official reaction...but yelling at a transmission with stuff like "You think so? I shall smite you in the name of the Emperor!" and the other guy coming back with "you worship a corpse god!" back and forth yields no production, I'll wait until we're face to face to say something but until then understand that Thade just watches the transmissions with the same amount of hate he approaches all traitors with and relishes the chance to kill the chaos lord but keeps his air of professional soldiering in check...

    Helmian had, had his misgivings about this Inquisition from the beginning, it was too far from the beaten track. But he also saw the need for it. The titan on that planet could not be allowed to continue to exist. Helmian found Greystone's need to fraternise with the Archon strangely familiar but he couldnt place the feeling. Regardless he now had several new worthy men to add to his direct retinue. He looked over the commissar and his aide. They looked sturdy enough and the Aide had cleary been by his master's side for some time, The captain and his men also appeared to be worthy of the Stormtrooper rank. Helmian was pleased with his "Find".
    "As of right now you, all of you, are men of the inquisition for the planet below us, (I can never remember the name) you will, one and all be given the badge of office pertaining to that cause, I thank you for your loyalty, the Emperor's holy spirit follows us in this task and he approves of your faith. Come, we have much to do. Firstly we must get off this ship. There is room for you all in my storm raven. Commissar, walk with me.
    The small group move back towards the Storm Raven, Helmian's helmet dias having recorded the route that he took through the ship not moments before. Helmian only has a stiff salute to give to Inquisitor Greystone before they leave. And a equally stiff warning.
    "Do not forgo your faith Inquisitor."
    This Inquisitor's warning was a standard one to mean in pleasant terms that the actions of the Inquisitor in question were being watched, for furthur misdemeanour. Helmian knew he had to do something about this but at the moment he was sure what. He stroked the cheek of his Cyber familiar a couple of times to calm himself down as the Commissar came abreast of him.
    "Commissar Thade. I would know your thoughts on the esteemed Inquisitor Greystone's actions, and I would hear of them from the moment you entered his company. What has he been up to? I fear for the Inquisitor's faith and I need to be sure of my fears before I can act on them. As Greystone's superior I assure you that no harm will come to you if oyu speak and you have the Emperor's blessing to speak freely."

    Greystone moved over to Guasee and smiled weakly, doubt very obvious in his eyes and he was shaking;

    "My friend, this Chaos lord who has contacted us is a very serious threat. We must act quickly to silence him before he becomes more of a threat, he's proved himself past his expectations and I should know. He was my student, my greatest student. Now we should move, I fear that the trendils of the Alpha Legion lie within this place."

    The doorways open, Chaos marines moving through them along with Dark Eldar pirates and the Archon who carries twin blades;

    "It's sad to say that friendships don't last forever my old friend, I hope you don't feel to much pain. Kill them all, leave nothing."

He fires the pistol sealing one of the doors and fires a shot that blows the brains from a Chaos marines head and laughs as he throws a belt of Melta bombs into a power generator that explodes violently forcing Chaos marines into cover;

    Greystone fired his shotgun repeatedly at the advancing Chaos marines who retreat back but keep up their fire power, he fires again killing one in a shower of cremite and blood while the others run in fear.

    Vic and his men sprang into action, and immediately opened fire on the advancing enemy troops. While he could not do much damage with his Las-pistol, Vic led from the front, with the aim of inspiring his more heavily armed allies to relentlessly harry the foe.

    Just as he was getting into his stride, after slashing a Dark Eldar Warrior with his Power Sabre, an order from the Lord Inquisitor rang through his comm's system.

    "Fall back Captain, your no use to us dead. You need to make your way to my Stormraven," the voice of Helmian Gausse crackled

    At that point Vic turned around, seeing the Inquisitorial Official across the hangar, indicating for him to leave.

    "We need to go! Hector, cover our rear!" the Captain bellowed

    The squad hastily made a retreating move backwards, towards the Lord Inquisitor.

    He could see that the Inquisitorial duo were hanging back waiting for his squad to get to safety. At that point he issued another order.

    "Talon, Hector! Escort the Inquisitors. Make sure they don't come back dead. The rest of you dogs! Get to the Stormraven!" Vic shouted

    Helmian ignores the Inquisitor speaking rapidly into his vox.
    {Amoneo Obscurum this is Gausse, I want grapples fired at the ship then full salvos at point blank blow it out of its scuppers. Give it 5 minutes then anouther discharge, I dont want anything left of this ship.}
    {Affirmative Inquisitor firing grapples now.}
    The ship rocks as grapple spikes rip into its hull. As the inquisitors and the Stormtroopers sprint to the Storm raven a massive Terminator clad Chaos marine blocks their path and raises a reaper autocannon but is impaled by a grapple spike as it slams into the hangar exposing the hangar to a vacuum. Helmian grabs the storm troopers one in each hand as he charges towards the Storm raven, he launches himself up and simoultaneously heaves one of the troopers into the hold even as the ship begins to take of about 15 feet in the air. His now free hand grabs the landing rail and he hauls himself and the other storm trooper in, Greystone gets up and in on the other side adn the two close the hatches as the Stormraven flies out of the hangar and towards Gausse's flagship, which opens fire with its gun banks just as the Stormraven is docking in the hangar that it left from not 10 minutes ago.

    Thade and Pask both provide covering fire as the Inquisitors get to the stormraven. While Pask fires on a dark eldar warrior who sticks his head up, another one rushes him with a wicked bayonet. Pask is fast but not fast enough, it is rendered moot anyway because Thade lunges with his chainsword and slices the eldar's arms off, it screams horribly and is gunned down by Pask who nods at the Commissar as a thanks.

    Thade orders the fall back just as the Inquisitor orders the ship's barrage. The storm raven begins to take off just as Thade leaps into the closing hatch with Pask close behind. The rush to get into the stormraven ended with Thade panting on the floor after his sprinting dive and Pask next to him getting up and taking his helmet off to breathe the clean air of the ship as the door closed and it thrusted away.

    Thade sits himself in a seat and Pask checks his weapons.

    "Well, thy aren't our friends any more." Pask said lightly.

    "Too right." Thade said, replacing his fallen officer's cap.

    Gausse, Greystone and the others rushed through the Hangers main deck area, a large grey room with several vehicles docked and under-repairs along with new loot from raids. A large tower like structure sat at the end of the hanger, a tall construct with several windows and a grav-lift where the Archon stood and drew his venom coated blades that he twirled into an offensive stance against the enemy. He snarled and made a gesture to a silent Greystone who kept his shot-gun ready , the Inqusitor nodded to his allies who moved ahead without him while he and the Archon circled each other. No words or threats where exchanged as the charged each other, shot gun shells exploding and blades slashing. Greystone quickly ran forward and fired his weapon at point blank range but missed the Archon who slashed and hissed at Greystone like an angered serpent, the Archon charged and swung his blade towards Greystone but was sent flying backwards by a shot-gun blast. Greystone moved towards the injured warrior and re-loaded and aimed down at the Archon. A single shot ended the Xeno's life in a second, the Inqusitor and the group sprinted back to the Storm Raven ignoring the fire of marines and Eldar as it took off flying through the hanger as Gausses ship engaged in a close ranged orbital fire-fight.

    Gausse looks over the numbers, they had a full new squad of Storm troopers who he was prepared to allow thier own Stormraven and a ground transport. The Commissar and his aide however would become part of Gausse's retinue. Such a figurehead would be invaluable on the field of battle in his command squad. He had Greystone sent packing to his own ship with the promise of a full debriefing later. The Stormtrooper captain and the Commissar he called over.
    "I am prepared to let you and your squad become a separate unit to myself but work alongside me, or you may appoint a new captain of your squad and join my command retinue as a colonel. It is up to you. I will await your descision"

    He turns to the commissar
    "Commissar, your name is Thade yes? I am inviting you to join my personal retinue to fight alonside myself, the captain here if he accepts and the other three members of my team."

    Vic suddenly pauses. While the proposition was enticing he had to consider his comrades whom had been dragged along with him. It had been his idea to band together after all, leading them to believe they would be able to lead normal safe lives, free from the Imperium. He was the one who convinced his new found friends to stow away on a freighter, despite the risks it entailed. And most importantly he had had to choose whether they were to live or die, before deciding to renew their allegiance to the Emperor, without their input or protests of course.

    "I will gladly accept your offer Lord Inquisitor, on the condition that my subordinate officer, Katerina Iala, is allowed to serve alongside me within your retinue. I would also be grateful if you could allow Theodore Mathola the position of Captain and Hectorus Atlan the rank of Sergeant within my former Stormtrooper Squad," Vic respectfully said to the Helmian Gausse.

    0290 hours since Inquisition entering system, threat level beta
    Location: Relic outer ridge, Cascade of Sins, Word Bearer 3rd Battle Group

    The Chaos lord and his Sorcerer sat within the Land-Raider, they waited eagerly as they approached the outer regions of the Titans activation index temple. X'cahris stood up as the Land Raider came to a halt and was the first to exit into the icy blizzard, the Terminator armour protecting him from the ice shards that left Cultists in bloody ribbons of flesh and bone. He snarled as he watched an Emperors Children defensive force around the temple with many Noise Marines and Cultists in trenches and fortified buildings, he turned back and re-entered the Land Raider while the Sorcerer worked on a large holo-table displaying the planet and the system around it. The entire thing was ancient and flickered constantly due to ill repaired parts, the Chaos lord ignored this and turned to then Sorcerer;

    "Send these locations using the Storm trooper codes, have them believe the remanning Troopers found the temple and need back up. Our mole will make sure they do not know of  our presence and will remove the Slanneshien servants for us."

    The Sorcerer nodded and began to type the corse for the Imperials and began re-coding it as an Inquisition style message, they transmitted it and waited.

    He had completely forgotten that she was still in the room, and he was rather shocked at his own loud outburst.

    Greystone ordered that the Imperials come to the command centre, he stood with several elite Karskin carrying Plasma Guns and Melta Guns. They bore several markings showing the campaigns and battles they had fought in, the old Inquisitor raised his hand as a signal for the doors to be shut.

    "Ah gentlemen, I have brought you here to discus the mission on which we will be in barking on quite soon. We have received information that a Slanneshien War-band of the Emperors Children legion are taking up positions near the temple and will put up a fight, another threat has also revealed it's self. A Chaos Lord by the name  X'charis is hear, you will no doubt that he is a threat if able to hack into our systems and was responsible for the destruction of two Space marine chapters. He stole or corrupted their gene seed, and is known for his vicious and quick attacks."

    Helmian looks at the captain long and hard before agreeing,
    "Yes that would be fine, go to the quatermaster when you have a free moment, he will give you two chevrons for your and your second incommand's epualettes. they will give you the power to requisition anything from this inquisition as long as it runs through me first.

    His throughts turn to the commissar and he is pleased that the man accepted his offer
    "Thankyou for accepting my offer Commissar Thade when you have a free moment you should also get one of the chevrons for yourself and one for your aide here. Now as for your question, yes I was still on the planet. But the moment I heard that we had lost an inquisitor to enemy hands I made my way to your position. And in hindsight it was probably a good thing I was there. Our next destination will b edictated soon enough. I may outrank the Inquisitor Greystone but he still has a better grasp of the situation here than I do, if only from being here longer. So I will follow his lead until I feel I can do better. Do not worry Commissar, I will not allow any of my retinue, or indeed my staff, to fall under enemy fire for no reason. You are quite safe under my command."

    When Gausse hears of the warband defending itself he scoffs.
    "I have seen them fight, they wont be satisfied with letting this X'charis walk into thier guns, as effective as that will be. They will wantto get up close to see the death in thier enemies eyes, I have to ask, of what importance is the relic?"

    "And your sending your commanding officer down to do your work for you? There may yet be some room for you in the Imperium Greystone. Allright you heard the man I want you all ready to hit the planet in 20 minutes were not letting those wretches get hold of that artifact, lets nip this in the bud people move, move,move!!!!"

    "My lord, your plan is working. The Imperials have taken the bait, soon we shall gain favour from the gods of Chaos. We have forces on standby, what are your orders?"

    The Sorcerer keeps his distance, he bows to the Chaos lord who chuckles;

    "Wait till the Inquisition lick spittle has defeated the Emperors Children warriors and ready the Cultists, and prepare a portal. I want this to be a quick extraction."

    The Imperials quickly board Valkaryies while the ship begins to enter low orbit but keeping it's distance from the Chaos Guns, Greystone, Gausee, the Commisar and the Guardsman enter a personalised Vakaryie which Greystone quickly enters. The ship drops from the massive Inquisition ship and dives towards the planet before quickly stopping and entering a steady pace;

    "We'll be landing a quarter of a mile away from the Slanneshien positions and begin a heavy bombardment before a head on charge, I heavily doubt any of you will survive and I'm happily going to take any glory you gain. I imagine you would do the same, so be ready to die in his glorious name. And a point of interest, if you ever see X'carhis do not engage. I don't care if you're higher than me, you better listen."

    The Ships drop from the massive Inquisition craft, only splinters compared with the massive craft. A multitude of fighter craft accompany them in order to allow a safe passage for their officers as Chaos fighters appear, each a spiked and bladed engine of evil that opens fire against the Imperials destroying several craft instantly but quickly fleeing as the Imperials return fire destroying most of the craft. The ships quickly move towards the planet leaving the others to engage Chaos fighters and enter the atmosphere, passing the thick black clouds and storms that cloud the planet and staring down on the bleak and frozen world. Soon the craft are able to begin landing around the objective, Greystone instructing groups of Storm Troopers and other Elite troopers about the enemies tactics leaving Gausee to instruct his own men while a far fouler leader watches the Imperials, X'carhis and Karon the Sorcerer observers the Imperials with great interest.

    "So the lickspittle have some nerve? Let us test them, Karon create a portal. I must see an old friend."

    The Sorcerer turns to the Apostle, seemingly concerned;

    But the Imperials could know of our plans, and may even be plotting against us should we not wait?"

    X'carhis knocks the Sorcerer to the ground and snarls;

    "No, we must wait. Know create a portal!"

    The two vanish into the mist as the Imperials advance towards the structure, a massive triangular structure that is surrounded by pillars and statues of strange serpents and among the dark grey and black structures stand the brightly armoured Emperors Children who laugh and snarl at the Imperials as they open fire with their sonic weaponry but soon themselves are assailed by a mass of artillery and tank fire as the Imperials begin to form a tight noose around the Children.

    41.381.8.15 Personal log of Inquisitor Helmian Gausse
    Aboard the Amoneo Obscurum Subsector 11.9.Alpha

    Alot has happened in a short time since my last entry, Inquisitor Greystone and his new requisitions were tractioned onto a pirate vessel and their extraction was my prime concern upon returning to the Amoneo Obscurum. I have placed Inquisitor Greystone as of this moment under official observation for delection of duty and suspicion of Heresy. His actions of late have been bordering on heretical and perhaps this probabtion will serve to bring him back on track. I simply hope that his corruption has not run to deep or I will be forced to purge him. The Inquisitor mentioned a friendship with the Archon that was aboard the vessel until said Xenos turned against us and I was forced to initiate grappling and bombardment orders in spite of the proximity of the vessel. Fortunatley all Inquisition parties were extracted from the vessel and the Amoneo Obscurum took no immediate damage. Although her weapon batteries will require time to recharge fully before anouther such salvo can be made.

    The planet itself in badly protected and myself and the three stormtroopers in my retinue were comfortably able to defeat several chaos space marines that attempted to hinder our advance. I suspect that the planet is better protected in other places and the traitors on the planet do not have the resources to mount a planet wide defense. As of yet we have only met sparse resistance and thier commanders are either incompetent or unwilling to engage us fully as they are throwing their warriors away for no gain. And with the current state of thier planet I cannot see any tactical or strategic gain from this. I shall keep this log updated with my findings as time goes on. However at this point in time this Inquisitor lord cannot find any reason to escalate the engagement to a planetary conflict. However if things do begin to escalate I will not hesitate to send for reinforcements from nearby Inquisitorial elements.

    I inducted four new members into my retinue this past hour. A commissar and his personal aide and a Captain of a Inquisitorial Stormtrooper detachement and his second in command. Inquisitor Greystone found these men (and woman) in his recent recruitment drive. However with Inquisitor Greystone currently on probation I see no reason for these new members of the Inquisition to stay under his command. Emperor wills it they will not become corrupt as I suspect of the Inquisitor.

    We have been mae aware of a Artifact on the planet that may be used to activate the Chaos Titan currently named "ct001" it is of our primary concern that this artifact not be allowed to fall under chaos control.

    My tactical anaylisis of the mission can be found below.

    Tactical Report Lord Inquisitor Helmian Gausse 41.381.8.15 Time 1440 hours local. 0005 Terran.

    Target: Planetary artifact. Positioned some 82000 miles from the equator on a bearing of 180. Position entrenched by traitor chaos marines. Other traitor chaos marines have been spotted in the area, at least one target in terminator armour. He will become a target later. Artifact designated "chaoshammer" protected by self proclaimed Emperors children noise marines. Warband intact and defensive with infantry and LAPC's only. Position untenable.
    -- -- --
    Our forces will descend to the planet post haste, we expect to meet only light resistance from chaos spacecraft as thier supplies of useable ships have been sorely depleted by constand barrages of orbital fire on pathos emplacements. Our forces will make planet fall in approximatley 45 minutes, ETA to primary target one hour disincluding combat time. Horizontal distance from drop zone one kilometre. Practical distance 1.375 kilometres.

    Artillery will perform shelling on outskirts and force the Noise amrines deeper. Our infantry will stay out of range of their range weapons. Especially the weapons dubbed "Blastmasters" as these could potentially be a real threat to the advance. Leman russ battle tanks backed up by a pair of hellhounds for every 5 LR's will advance in staggered formation and will keep the heads of the noise marines down. Our chimera squardons will take a secondary role and will stagger their advance in 30 second interludes to give a constant stream of Stormtroopers hitting the breach at all times.

    Inquisitor greystone will oversee the emplacement of Hydra flak tanks and manticore artillery emplacements alongside basilisks and medusa's. I will lead the forward elements from my command vehicle. The rhino APC that currently resides in my personal stormraven. We will disembark and organise our battle plan from that point. Once the AA batteries are in place we will have a vendetta squadron make a fly by to eliminate the LAPC's of the defenders and myself and my retinue will enter the Artifact and try to determine wether it can be safely destroyed. As of yet the exact purpose of such an artifact is unclear although the intellegence I have suggests that it may be used to allow the Chaos traitors on this planet to access their titan. Understandably the artifact cannot be allowed to fall into enemy hands under any circumstances.

    --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

    Gausse leant forwards in his seat as the Angelus Umbra rapidly made its way to the surface of the planet. All around them thunderhawk gunships, valkyries and thunderbolts were firing bursts of quad into the chaos fighter squadrons nearby them. A stray autocannon shell ricocheted of the hull of the stormraven and Gausse flinched. He hated flying. He saw the commissar in a similar state and grinned behind his helmet.
    "Have faith commissar, the Emperor will not allow such devoted servants of his holy will to fall in such a pathetic environment. When you fall whenever that day comes it will be standing on a mound of dead xenos with your bolt pistol blazing and your powerfist demolishing those that threaten you. You will not die in such a vessel."

    The commissar nodded seeming heartened and his aide nodded to Gausse in thanks. Helmian shrugged his mighty shoulders and held his Glaive encarmine tightly. If astartes did not have fear he would have sworn that was what this was.

    --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

    The planetstrike went to plan the thunderhawks dropping of the vehicles they would need for the engagement then flying up into the upper reaches of the atmosphere to keep the chaos fighters and bombers away from the eemplacement. Soon Helmian and his retinue were inside the rhino that had come to be named "The Rhino of Godly power" by the laid back Stormtroopers. One had even taken the time to neatly spray paint the name in High Gothic onto the side of the hull. Helmian did not mind the stormtroopers mild defilemtn of the vehicle. It was not blasphemous and it kept morale up, who was he to interfere? The Leman russes ahead of them stopped and began to unleash volleys of firepower deep into the chaos lines, Helmian slammed the flat of his hand against the door to Nathan's driver's cockpit. The rhino lurched to a halt and the doors slammed open. Seconds later as the Retinue made its way out they were greeted by a truly spectacular sight. The artifact was huge, dwarfing the trenches and Marines hastiyl scrambling back towards its massive bulk away from the fire of the tanks. Helmian shuddered to think how large the titan would be that was ensconced somewhere beneath the planet. Probably not here. But if this was the size of the Artifact required simply to activate it then the titan itself must be massive.

    The commissar came up beside him with the captian on the other. Helmian drew his infernus pistol and sword and looked around him. Squad upon squad of Stormtroopers were sprinting towards the Artifact, hellguns lighting up the entranceways to the building like strobelights. Helmian raised his massive sword into the air and bellowed
    "FOR THE GLORY OF THE IMPERIUM, CHARRRRGE!!!!!"

    Thade briefly thought about the man on the ship's words to him as they entered the atmosphere. He was quietly impressed with the self confidence the man could project, and thought if nothing else he would have made a damn good commissar much like himself.

    The ship landed and out wheeled the Rhino, Helmian was accompanied by Thade and the rest of his retinue and took to the field. Thade had mere moments to look over the astonishing battlefield and gaze upon the huge artifact that they sought. Thade wasn't sure why they were here for the object but he was a Commissar that had fought the Ruinous powers in the Eye of Terror for most of his life so it didn't take much for him to guess that whatever it was was important to the heretics and that alone was reason enough to take it from them.

    The Commissar's stormcoat blew in the breeze and rustled upon him as he strode next to Helmian and the rest of the retinue, the chaos forces were close in sight and Thade found himself scowling at the sight of him. beside him, Pask stood still as a statue, awaiting the signal to enter the breech...

    And then it came from the bellows of Lord Inquisitor Helmian. Thade already had his bolter and chainsword in hand and raised the sword up into the sky as Helmian did, crying a battlecry of his own.

    "Sons of the Emperor, rejoice! For today you do his divine will!" Thade shouted as the stormtroopers charged forwards. Some were cut down but these casualties were barely noticed by the righteously angered might of the Inquisition's armies.

    Thade emptied his first clips into any cultists he could see, knowing the marines used them as nothing more than cannon fodder. As he did so, he and Pask were assaulted by a ravening bunch of melee weapon wielding cultists that flung themselves upon the two in a bid to overwhelm them. Thade's blade was a flurry of gnashing blades and grinding blood, the blade was stained red with crimson and sprayed his coat with splotches of the dark liquid as he swiped to and fro. Soon the cultists were in retreat and Thade looked about himself to see Pask, finishing off the remaining cultists with quick shots that slammed them into the ground. The two nodded at each other, standing defiantly on the open field even as return fire whizzed about them.

    Thade looked about him catching his breath when he saw a peculiar sight, several stormtroopers were in cover behind an embankment, a few were looking at him puzzled that he was not dead yet with bullets and whatnot whizzing all around and even at his aide who also stood smartly beside him but seemed not to care about the fire he was receiving.

    "You men!" Thade called out. "What are you doing? Cant you see the rest of us are advancing?!" He shouted, glaring at them all. The winced and one, apparently their leader, spoke up.

    "We cant reveal ourselves sir! That bloody tank has us pinned!" The trooper said pointing over the embankment at a Leman Russ that had been covered in crudely etched chaotic runes that made Thade retch. Thade turned to Pask.

    "Join those troopers over there. once I take care of that tank, bring them with you and well move by it." Thade said nodding, his tone of voice suggesting that he'd done this sort of thing before. While he quickly whipped out his power fist and stowed his chainsword, Pask moved to the other group of troopers who were clad in a different color armor than his black suit and huddled with them.

    "How does he think he's going to get close to that thing?"A trooper asked Pask.

    "The Emperor protects." Was all he answered.

    Thade waited until the Tank's turret was not pointed at him, he waited until all of the guns were pointed at other targets no in his general vicinity, watching the beast ever so carefully, Thade stood up from his spot behind cover and gave a roar.

    "For his glory!" He yelled defiantly, blasting infantry with his bolt pistol and waving his power fist in the air as if it were a banner, its field sparked and blurred into full power and Thade curled his hand into a fist. The Stormtroopers watched in astonishment as the Commissar ran by, untouched by any round and slammed his fist into the tread of the tank, braking them and causing it to come to a halt, he ran around and slammed his fist into the tank's side armor as well, ripping a big enough hole for him to shoot inside. As he reloaded his clip he called for Pask, who came running with the rest of the troopers and surrounded the tank. The crew tried to exit or surrender but each of them were cut down without so much as a twitch of reluctance. When this was done, Pask affixed melta bombs to the tank's engine and set them off at a safe distance. Thade looked to the troopers who looked at the stained and dirty Commissar with awe.

    "Lets go, we cant keep the Inquisitor waiting." Thade said as he marched away with his bolt pistol held high.

    Helmian had sprinted forwards bolter shells and lasbursts skittering off of his heavily armoured form. The artificer armour he wore gave him nearly as much protection as Tactical Dreadnought armour and he was doubly thankful for this now. A squad of Stormtroopers took it upon themselves to join up with him and they charged forwards by his side, the commissar and his aide had been swept away from him by a pack of cultists, yes Helmian considered them a pack, and Gausse hadn't seen the men since, however he had more pressing matters to worry about ahead of him a massive defiler of the chaos gods was storming towards him. Crushing Stormtroopers in its iron claws. Helmian was not want to put others ahead of himself so he charged in without delay.

    The defiler screamed at the astartes with a mixture of rage and pleasure, clearly this was a mechanical beast of Slaanesh. The deaths were driving it mad with battle lust. It swung heavily at him with a free claw but Helmian saw the swing and raised his Glaive encarmine. The blade sheared through the claw's center pin with one mighty swipe and Helmian dug his heels in feeling a furrow ground out in the dirt as he was forced backwards by the inertia of the blow. The two halfs of the co-axial claw skittered to either side of him and he rushed between them drawing his infernus pistol. As the daemon engine swiped at him again he threw himself forwards and down under the blow, hacking sideways as he did so. The claw was rent from its pivot and the arms above him writhed madly as thier clawless state frustrated the daemon bound within the ceramite hull. Helmian saw the arms quiver and then slam downards in a pistoning motion trying to stab through the astartes armour and impale the Inquisitor. He rolled first to one side as a clawless metal arm slammed down, then forced himself backwards with a mighty shove just clearing the arc of the second. The defiler's other two weapons were occupied dealing with the storm troopers who were still trying to get to thier commander. But the defiler had one more weapon at its disposal, the arms came up and slammed down either side of the astartes locking him in place and its center torso leaned over the prone figure. As its battle cannon began to clank and whir Helmian brought his infernus pistol up and without hesitation pulled the trigger.

    As flames rushed from the barrel of the weapon down the waiting maw of the battle cannon Helmian used his free arm to shield his face, his blade had been knocked from his hand while evading the clawless arms. Helmian gritted his teeth and clenched his muscles moments later as a massive explosion rocked the defiler splitting the hull in two and engulfing the astartes in flames.

    --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

    Thade looked on in horror as the Lord Inquisitor fought with the daemon engine and was about to charge forwards to help his commander even as the explosion ripped out. The commissar was thrown from his feet but was caught by Pask and anouther trooper who hit the deck under the weight of their esteemed leader. Thade got unsteadily to his feet and watched as the smoke cleared to see Gausse getting to his feet covered in soot but very much alive, and as he walked through the gloom with his sword reclaimed and the barrel of his infernus pistol still glowing. He did not walk back to his retinue. No, thankless he relentlessly continued forwards to enemy lines. As if the Defiler was a mere speed bump.

    He stopped momentarily and looked back to his troops.
    "Dont just stand there soldiers, lets show these flea bitten cowards the might of the Emperor!!"

    Several sonic blasts sent Gausee flying backwards before crashing and reganing his footing, the Inquisitor looked at the main direction if the blasts Where several Noise Marines advanced from a small bunker and picked out several Storm Trooper targets before blasting them to pieces, screaming with glee and foul joy. Gausee Rose and graves his Glaive before charging into the unwary Noise marines, decapitating the first with a swift blow and the others quickly hacked into lumps of flesh but something was not right. He spotted for only a second a tall figure, a snarling hissing snake which instantly removed itself from the presence of reality as Gauess turned his attention to the charging Sonic Chmapion who opened fire with his Plasma Pistol.

    Thade charged with the Storm troopers towards a mass of Chaos Cultists carrying grenade launchers and Auto-guns, the servants of Chaos took aim and opened fire on the Imperials crushing and obliterating several but hastily missing the quick Commisar who sliced apart several still re-loading Chaos Cultists and decapitating those desperately trying to attack him with their weak and broken blades.

    He focused on himself, and allowed himself a sigh, before having a grin form on his face.

    An Emissary?

    "I have found myself. Now, I have found you," Kais said coolly. "What must I do, now?"

Shas'O you are herby the known as the hearld of the Greater Good and it's bringer the Serpent. "

    Gausee was knocked to the ground as Sonic waves tore through the ground beneath him, he Rose and brought up his Glaive as he watched the Noise marines re-positioned and took aim once again, he quickly sprinted away and fired his pistol on the Chaos Marines who are one by one reduced to ash but as he runs towards the Chaos forces but for seconds he watches a small tiny object, a Serpent of some form. While he watched it for simple seconds but it felt like centuries, he returned to the current situation as a Bolter shell slammed into his hand causing him to drop his pistol.

    The Commissar and his troops slowly made there way past burning vehicles and carcasses that would release red mist into the air, forming red clouds among the sky. He ignored the foul site and pressed on as they  opened fire on a fleeing group of renegade guard and Cultists fleeing from an advancing Leman Russ.

    Kais listens to these words, his heard slightly burning with the intrusion of his master. Back to the Eye of Terror? Was he crazy? But, he knew it was the only way to find out what was actually happening to him, and life as he knew it.

    "Then, as the herald of our great Tau Empire, I say, that we must return to the Eye of Terror. There are secrets there that we need to uncover," Kais says powerfully. "Secrets, that will greatly benefit the greater good. Any who oppose?"

    41.132.1.5 Personal log of Inquisitor Helmian Gausse
    Aboard the Amoneo Obscurum subsector Omega.T.819 Ghost star cluster.

    There is something malign in these stars, something has been tracking me through my work for the last few weeks and my nerves are beginning to grate. I have been assigned to work alongside Inquisitor Greystone. If I needed anymore proof that this place is bad news that would have been it. I cant believe the High lords decided to lump this nutcase in with me. Excuse me Emperor but the man needs your mercy. I have found that he is extremely narcissistic and controlling. There is something malicious about him that I cant pin down but no matter. It is my duty to see that he stays out of trouble.

    Additionally it seems that whatever has been tracking me through these stars wants me dead. It is unsurprising seeing as our recent crusade has pushed the warriors of the Ghost stars back of thier historical territories. The presence, whatever it is. Is however rather efficient, if a bit gratuitous. At causing mayhem. Recently whatever it is dropped a cathedral on my head. I will ulpoad the video footage momentarily. I do believe that it is the Emperor's grace alone that had me survive that attack.

    ++Video feed from Inquisitor Helmian Gausses’ helmet++
    |-41.132.1.15-|-0300.32.12.003-|

    The camera feed was grainy and unfocused but the sounds of a one sided combat could be heard; bolter hells and heavier munitions pounding through buildings and streets. Slowly the camera came into focus and was bobbing slightly, the sound of heavy impacts accompanying it. The view was of a stone brick wall that rose upwards well out of sight, the wall was damaged heavily and there were large explosion holes riddling it. The center of the wall was dominated by a large enigmatic symbol constructed of several concentric rings the smallest about a meter in diameter that were positioned in different angles around a central star-like core. Directly in front of the symbol was an altar, made from some sort of granite, set upon a dais. And leading down from said dais was a black rug that ran between two rows of wooden pews. Shafts of light descended from above where, upon the camera panning up great holes can be seen similar to the ones in the wall ahead of Gausse. A slight clink is head and the camera flicks down and back to see a piece of ruined masonry on the ground, and the blade of Gausse’s Glaive Encarmine. The latter seemingly having hit the former. The camera pans back up and starts bobbing again, the heavy impacts returning. The camera pans to the left and right showing more shattered walls.

    The camera stops after a few more steps when Gausse gets closer to the dais. It fixes on the symbol and Gausse seems to be studying it intently. A light murmur of disbelief is heard but nothing else as the Inquisitor observes the symbol. A loud creaking sound comes from the symbol and the camera jumps and retreats slightly as the outer ring of the symbol shifts on an invisible axis turning around the core in a strange drunken pattern. Soon the grating intensifies as the other rings move around the core as well. Eventually they stop again, scraping to a halt in new positions. The camera zooms in on the core and sees it glowing faintly before it dims once more. The camera zooms out and fixes once more on the symbol.
    “What in the Emperors name…?”
    The camera retreats from the dais and bobbing accompanied by footfalls returns as the Inquisitor retreats backwards from the Enigmatic Symbol.

    “I need a pair of Techmarines to come and retrieve a Ghost Star artifact possibly Xenos in origin and have it contained. Be warned its power source appears to be intermittent and could prove a threat. Proceed and extract with extreme caution.”
    A crackling is heard over the vox for a few seconds then the reply comes in a solid tone
    “Affirmative Inquisitor, they are on their way. ETA 5 minutes, please secure the perimeter and await their arrival.”
    Gausse replies smartly
    “Heard loud and clear, Gausse out”
    “Control Out”
    Gausse moves around the building and checks the shadows for interlopers. After a solid check he notes there are no intruders and returns to the center of the main chamber.

    A metallic scraping can be heard somewhere to the left and the camera swivels around accompanied buy a heavy crunch and the sound of splintering wood, nothing could be seen however except the panorama of the shattered cathedral. The camera pans down to see a demolished pew where Gausse’s foot had stood on it. Slowly the camera pans from side to side searching the shadows but still nothing can be seen. It cautiously pans back to the symbol but jerks upwards as a shadow moves past its line of sight and up into the roof. The camera shows the ruined ceiling again but stops on a large expanding crack in the roof. It stays there for a second or two as the crack widens accompanied by severe crunching snapping sounds and mildly heavy impacts. A loud curse in Gausse’s deep voice is heard and the camera moves downwards and turns to the door upon which it starts shaking frantically as Gausse sprints for the door, rapid slams of his feet sounding through the feed.

    A titanic cracking sound is heard and the camera snaps up to see a full half of the roof collapsing inwards and downwards towards the camera. Another curse from Gausse and the camera spins and shakes as Gausse leaps to the side. A massive impact sounds and the camera shakes heavily and is obscured by dust, even as it jumps around while Gausse gets to his feet. The camera vision slowly clears, sounds of battle still raging around the cathedral as Gausse stands, it pans around and shows a rather terrifying sight. Alongside heavy groaning sounds the wall of the cathedral is slowly toppling towards the camera, hundreds of tons of stonework and masonry falling towards Gausse. Two words are heard.
    “Emperor protect…”
    And then the sound of a titanic crash is heard and the ground beneath the wall roils as the wall crumbles to dust beneath its own weight, a solid wave of masonry rushing towards the Inquisitor. Two hands are raised in front of the camera both empty of anything but appearing to shield the Inquisitor’s head. The camera shudders violently and bounces as Gausse hits the ground. It stays there for some time, the only image in its line of sight a single block of stone, probably about the size of an Astartes’ chest. Slowly groans and a loud grunt of exertion are heard and the camera jumps around as Gausse gets unsteadily to his feet shoving fallen stone work off of him. The camera pans around to show two walls of the cathedral absolutely demolished and at least half the roof caved in. From the corner of the camera the shadow can be seen again and the camera tries to track it but it escapes its sight.

    The camera pans back to the symbol only to see that it is untouched by the falling masonry, everything seems to have fallen around it. But there is a clear circle around it where no stonework has fallen. A hail from the left has the camera pan to the source to see a pair of Techmarines moving quickly forwards Gausse.
    “Brother are you harmed? We saw the building collapse.”
    “Nothing vital Brother, we should get that Artifact out of here before the rest of the building comes down however.”
    “Indeed Brother Inquisitor. You may return to the battle, we will not need your help here.”
    “Affirmative Brother, for the Emperor!!”
    “For the Emperor!!”

    X'carhis and the Sorcerer Kenorth stand with a group of Chaos worshiping cultists who stand arms outstretched as they sing prays to the Chaos Gods, black lines of energy turns to fire as it seeps from their souls and into a burning pit of skulls and broken bones. The Sorcerer raises his force weapon in union with the rising cultists as their bodies explode in showers of not gore but pulsing energy the covers the blade of X'cahris but the Chaos lord is dissatisfied when more cultists arrive to continue the ritual:

    "Have the preparations been made Kenorth? I tire of these rituals, they pale in comparison to what other tributes we could be creating for the Dark Gods Sorcerer. Do not waste my valuable time with talk and trinkets, I need the blade blessed now for my confrontation for the Inquisitors. While weak in strength they use psychic objects to protect themselves, how ironic the hunters of witches are wizards themselves."

    The Sorcerer laughs and turns to the Chaos lord who is in a foul mood and lacks any remorse for the foolish Sorcerer, the Sorcerer stops and bows before rising:

    "The ritual will take some more time but once the ritual is completed we....you will be graced by the grand unholy power of the Chaos Gods! Even these petty fouls cannot stop us from achieving our goals once you have been empowered, then the titan will be ours and the crusade will begin but remember every death caused is paramount. Even those caused by the Imperials will be appeasing to the gods my Lord, the champions of the other War-bands will happily run towards their gun lines and die, excellent sacrifices in our plans my lord."

    The Chaos lord nodded and turned away, he returned to his specialized chamber where he sat and meditated, ready for the next battle......

    41.381.8.15
    Helmian felt the fire lines rippling behind him as he charged las frire flickered all around him and the heat of the shots warmed his body while his legs p[istoned beneath him. The light was fading as the twin suns of the planet were beginning to set, the shadows that would have fallen over the defenders ranks however were blotted out by the lasfire and bolter explosions that lit up his target marvelously. Behind him was his retinue moving at top speed towards the defenders lines, Gausse hear the commissar bellow a stream of a buse at the coming chaos lines and the captain urging the men onwards to glory. The men around him tryed to keep up but Helmian was like a juggernaut, now moving at top speed nothing could stand in his way as he pelted towards the enemy lines, bellowing a shapless warcry with his Glaive encarmine raised to his side, the weapon crackling in the shadows. Consequently Helmian reached the blockade first his blade falling over and over, hammering through the first few ranks of Chaos warriors, each fallen traitor blessed by his constant stream of redeeming litanies, and all could feel the presence of the Emperors spirit alongside Helmian saving the souls of the dead from reaching thier chaotic gods and empowering them furthur. His charge was not broken and he found open ground soon ater impacting the enemy lines. Helmian looks around and sees that he is once again alone, his retinue still fighting with the marines behind him. He turns rapidly only to see the marines backing off and Helmian begins to feel the touch of the warp moving through the air. All around him marines are lifted into the sky their arms flung out to the sides...

    Another Chaos marine charged, his Bolter had a bayonet tied to the end and swiped at Gausee almost knocking him tp his feet. The Inquisitior blocks the attack with his Glaive and pushes the marine away with a hit to the chest and slices upwards removing the marines arm and slashes again removing his head.

    Im surprised at you reaper, usually you would jump at the chance to describe new daemons....

    (BIC) The marines all are slammed down into the ground adn from all around are raised great bloody daemons of Khorne, at three daemon princes and that many again in heralds surround the Inquisitor. Helmian curses slightly under his breath and readies himself for a fight with the minions of the blood god.

    The first Herald charges in weaving a web of hellsteal with its blade that is used to try to get through Helmian's guard, But the Inquisitor doesnt give an inch of ground fighting just as hard back. The two are evenly matched for a while, niether tireing but Helmian notices a slight pattern to the daemons movements and the way they are used to trap him into his. So instead of blocking one of the swings which is used as a dummy he lets it pass through. The daemon is startled by the motion and the dummy swing stalls. Helmian takes his opportunity and his glaive blessed by the Chaplains and Librarians of the Inquisition slips through the daemons chest and penetrates into his skull in an uppercut stab. Wrenching the blade free the daemon collapses to the ground and fades to nonexistance. Helmian turns as pounding footsetps are heard behind him and he ducks under a massive swipe from the daemon prince's axe. The next blow circles over the daemon's head and comes rocketing down but Helmian stands and puts his full weight behind his Blade as the daemon Princes axe meets it. The titanic impact nearly drives Helmian to his knees, but his gambit worked, the power weapon that his galive is sheared straight through the blade of the axe and shattered the haft, rendering it useless. He stood quickly and with three neat swings dismembered the daemon prince hands and neck.

    He watched then as the two remaining heralds charge at him simoultaneously. He is forced to back up slightly using the distance as an aid. he needed to finish this quickly. One of the daemons had overreached trying to hit him and he lopped its head off neatly while the other was more wily and had sen this tactic coming and made an uppercut that would have travveled from Helmian's waist to shoulder if he had not stepped back. But then drove forwards immediatly after wards with a efficient series of blows that forced the daemon backwards. A neat twist of his blade made a swing turn into a thrust and the daemon found himself embedded on Helmians sword. Helmain drove the weapon deep with one hand and the other puts his Infernus pistol between the daemons eyes. A quick pull of the trigger melts the head and shoulders of the Herald.

    Helmian turns to find the two remaining daemon princes retreating back to the artifact. Helmian raised his blade in triumph with a bellowed shout.
    "For the Glory of the Imperium!!!"

    The Noise marine barricades and defences begin to fall and crummble under heavy Imperial attacks, the Emperors children's moral shatters as the main Imperial force rolls in gunning down wounded Chaos marines while others are 'interrogated' before being executed. Gausee watches the marines retreat inside the temple before being saluted and bowed to by a Sergent:

    "My lord, our forces have surrounded the enemy structure and the enemy forces have barricaded themselves inside however Alpha Legion forces are closing in from behind us and World Eaters from both sides."

    Stormtroopers begin to open fire on a group of massive Daemonic beasts, Juggernauts of Khorne crash through the broken land towards the Inquisition forces who begin to fall back to newly dug trenches and barricades that hold no protection against the beasts while Greystone stands completely still and smiles, Gauess is thrown to the ground as a mounted Bloodletter swipes at him with his weighted flail but Greystone still refuses to move even when a Juggernaut is face to face with him. Greystone smiles and pulls up a small, tiny charm. In the center sits a small chained icon of Khorne, the beast snarls while the rider shouts hateful words but the beast does not move, Greystone raises the charm as it glows forcing the beasts back into the snowy blizzard that begins to form;

    Helmian shrugs his shoulders before turning and moving into the Artifact heedless of the mans words. Helmina knows that the man is corrupted, Helmian Gausse had been promoted to High Lord Inquisitor before coming on this mission, he diddnt like to preach it. Except for the god emperor himself, he had no superiors. The Inquisitor behind him was obviously so far gone that he had to lie to try and have a seeming of power. The situation could be resolved, and soon. But not before the artifact was cleared. It had to be done now before anymore time was wasted.

    Im unsure if you understand just how tough an astartes is. An autocannon shell hitting them smack in the chest, unless it pierced their armour, wouldnt bother them in the slightest, they would just keep on walking. Just something to be aware of.

    (BIC) Gausse gets up and draws his sword, none of the storm troopers had followed him in, knowing full well that Gausse's authority was greater than that of Greystones, Gausse had no ranged backup but at the moment it really diddnt bother him. It was putting Greystone in his place to leave them out there. So Gausse charges forwards, bolter shells ripple of his armour and with tehe quantity manage to make him stumble slighlty on the blood slicked floor, but he charges on heedless of the firepower, one of the bolter shells manages to get a lucky shotbehind him that pings through his thigh armour, shorching his leg a bit but Helmian is in range by now and his first swing parts the offending marines torso from his waist, and the second swing his head from shoulders. The blade rises up and then twists as Helmian makes a reverse swing into the heavy bolter wielders chest slicing through the guns ammo feed and his chest plate in one, the resulting ripple of explosions knocks the mrine of his feet when coupled with the force of the Inquisitor Lord's blow. A final thrust into the chest cavity of the last chaos warrior slips through both of his hearts, Helmina wrenches the weapon free and with that last marine downed he looks behind him to the storm troopers, eagerly waiting the charge.
    "For the Emperor!!!!!"

    Demogorgon stepped out of the thunderhawk ad glared a the bird.
    Damn slow thing.” He growled through his grox-vox.
    Turning around, he regarded the landscape,

    Snow and ice. Not much aside from that, bar a few trees, lucky for him it was night. His element.
    He turned. “Bharbhu!” he yelled. “Bring the Ark!”
    “At once, my lord.” Came the contagion-laced reply, the ‘Ark’ in question was only about the size of a human’s casket. Eldritch fire drifted off of it as it floated over the ground seemingly devoid of any propulsion, the massive Terminator, Bharbu, wielding his manreaper strode out of the thunderhawk after it.

    “This world has given it new life, it would seem.”

    Demgorgon grunted and motioned for the others to come, the commanders of the Midnight Host arrayed on a massive, snow-covered hill.

    Demogorgon scanned the terrain with his helm-auspex.

    There.” He said, pointing at an indistinct blob on the horizon. “Feral Barbarians.

    Gra’zz’zt lifted his massive bulk and charged his jump kits.

    “what are we waiting for?” he asked, his claws slashing the ground.

    Yes

    Demogorgon nodded. “He is now, we go.

    X'cahris and Kenorth look down on the arriving group, the Chaos Lord chuckles and walks away with the Sorcerer in tow who smirks as well. The Chaos Lord turns to his lieutenant and grins behind his helm:

I shall see to it that they are left in bloody clumps, see to it that they are disposed off Kenorth, while I wish to remove this.....filth I'll have you do so."

    Of course he dislikes the character!

    1. Greystone was buddies with some Xenos (the Archon) who had renegade Space Marine in his employ.

    2 The Inquisitor is clearly insane!

    3. To have superiors outranking a Lord Inquisitor possibly implies some daemonic or non-Imperial ones (as Lord Inquisitors tend to for the leadership within and Ordo).

    I can understand why he neither likes or trusts Greystone.

    Hell, I may be *Censored by Inquisitorial Decree* but even I'm wary of the enigmatic character.

    Demogorgon finished with the last of the barbarians. they were arranged in a loose star, an eight pointed, heretical symbol.

    Demogorgon heard some fizzling as Bharbhu waved his manreaper and muttered an incantation.

    the Terminator Lord strode to a cage filled with frightened feral-worlders. no doubt they believed him a messenger of Death. ironic. he thought as he flung the cage into a shallow pit in front of the Ark.

    Bharbhu's chanting grew louder, the barbarians begane to simply vanish into the immaterial. Demogorgon watched, slightly bored.

    the chanting grew to a crescendo and the barbarians all vanished.

    Greystone smiles and raises his Shot-Gun and pumps it;

    "That 'coward' is making his way to the lower levels, I've guessed that the Key would be down their somewhere and would be heavily defended by automatic defensive systems and possibly servitors. We should be prepared for an ambush, its in his nature. He keenly studied the tactics of all the primarchs and is fairly well equipped, for a traitor dog. Helmian moves with grace and speed through the smoke, neatly avoiding their fire arcs. The first falls silently to his Glaive through his head, but the crashing sound of his armoured body hitting the floor alerts the others, by the time they found the corpse Helmian had already wiped out a straggler with his inferno pistol. The resulting flames ate away at the smoke and Helmina was forced to charge. He ducked a blow clumsy from haste and his inferno pistol slotted neatly under the terminators shoulder pad. A quick squeeze of the weapons trigger melted the torso of the hapless traitor. Helmian pivoted on his toe throwing his weight to the side and managed to hit the ground rolling out of the way of a shower of bolter shells which ate up the floor in explosions. The floor's material however was unharmed.

    Helmian rose and his Glaive hacked through the closesty terminators knees bringing the warrior to the ground where Helmians pistol saw to his head. The final Terminator charged in and swung heavily with a shock mace at Gausse's chest. But the Glaive in Helmian's hands blocked it soundly and then Helmian's lightning quick counter offensive saw the Terminator with Helmian's sword through his chest. A hefty tug and the weapon slid free.

    The Terminator falls back and hits the ground like a concrete block, Greystone coming up behind Gausse and smiling behind his newly equipped helm. He brings up his shotgun in union as Chaos Cultists and Heretics move throw several door ways towards the two, they quickly begin to rise into the air and explode as Daemons use their broken souls as gateways. Bloodletters of Khorne begin to form through the shattered and broken bodies of the Chaos minions and snarl at the two Inquisitors swinging their blades and hissing with dark intentions as they move forward towards the Imperials. A Bloodletter herald stands at the front of the group carrying a long twin hand Glaive and protected by brazen plated sheets of armour studded with broken bone and the skulls of its defeated foes;

    "Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Skull throne! Let the universe drown!"

    Greystone smiles and aims his shotgun at the Daemons before uttering a prayer to the Emperor;

    "The more the merrier!"

    The Daemons charge as Greystone opens fire, one of the foul creatures falls and splinters into shards of burning fire and bone before another Daemon is reduced to ash. The Herald swipes at Greystone who starts firing on the massive Bloodletter.

    Last I checked, I was part of Gausse's retinue, so I guess I'm there on the planet with them.

    I aint missing this boss fight!

    Vic stares at the advancing Chaotic monstrosities, staying stalwart in his defence of his master. He would not let Helmian come to harm, even if it meant giving up his own life. He looked back at Kat, who was shaking slightly. They had fought heretics before, but this was the first time they had witnessed the true forms of Chaos.

    He had seen his master slice through the Chaotic Terminators, and he had dispatched two of them himself, using the Power Sabre he had been gifted so long ago.

    However, they were small fry in comparison to the anathema spawned abomination which towered above them. The beast, a "Herald of Khorne" Greystone had called it, wore a malicious grin on it's face as it leapt at Helmian. Throwing his Laspistol and Power Sabre aside, Vic ran towards one of the corpses of the Chaos Space Marine Terminators. He grabbed a corrupted twin bolter and turned to face the one on one battle between the Daemon and the Inquisitor.

    "Helmian! Duck!" Vic bellowed, as he unloaded a full payload of bolter rounds into the warp spawned beast.

    However, the recoil from the weapon was too much for the mortal human, and Vic was projected backwards, before falling to the ground.

    Blood Reaper ducked out of the way, he was annoyed. This one, this creature had accutally fired a weapon at him. He would enjoy this battle, he drew his second blade and placed his Glaive into it's slot, he bowed and grabbed the broken boy by his back. He could feel the shattered bones and broken marrow, he grinned. Weak and unruly but a perfect one for his goals, raising a wall of fire around the two Blood Reaper tossed a sword to the human and bore his;

    "Come!"

    "Your friends cannot save you!"

    Reaper swipes at Vic, he knows he's doomed but opens his eyes and see's he's blocked the attack and swipes at the Herald but these are not his own movements, far to skilled;

    "....Do.....nothing but.......keep calm...."

    "For the The Emperor... " Vic gasped, as he threw the empty twin-bolter into the Daemon's face. In this slight moment of confusion, Vic managed to grab his Power Sabre in a swift movement.

    The blade ignited immediately and Vic swung it into the Daemon's neck. A feeling of power coursed through his veins as he began to hack into the Herald of Khorne.

    Helmian had seen the Captains gambit and had commended the man, if he died then he would be a Matyr of some weight within the Inquisition. But he wasn't dead just yet. As the captain swung at the daemons neck and his swords field activated Helmians blade also tore into the daemons back. It screeched along daemonic bones as it severed the Heralds spine from tailbone to skull.

    Blood Reaper smiled as his head was severed from his body, he had successfully insured that his plans could not fail and his remains turned to dust leaving only a broken shrine and dead soul stone. Vic grabbed the stone, it was tiny dead and grey but there was still something left. Some vague power, Vic hid it from the arriving Storm Troopers and the Inquisitors documenters and other servants as they begin secure the base. And Vic heard it, the voice of foul screeches and dark intent;

    "Yes.........they are your true.....foe....not I......and I shall.....grant you...power.....but hide your loyalties.....I shall return.....to weakened."

    Helmian saw the Captian slip the soulstone into a pocket but frankly couldnt care, should the marine become corrupted Helmian would execute him without a second thought, sometimes being one of the astartes was a boon.

    You still get the shrine

    Greystone looks down on the ashes of the Daemon and picks up a small grey shrine, a dragon like shrine dotted with Eldritch soul stones. He hands it to Helmian and moves on to investigate the other Daemonic remains.

    Spoiler:
    Name: Argylle
    Species: Human/Traitor Marine/Emperor's Children
    Age: Unknown
    Gear: Daemon Sword, Plasma Pistol, Doom Siren, Wings
    Rank: Chaos Lord
    Defining features: Wears the original colours of his legion. Total disdain for anything other than blade wielders, as he sees anything else as crude and unrefined.
    Abilities: Flight, Extremely skilled close combat fighter.

    Bio: Despite losses of the local Slaaneshi force, he claims (via blasphemous broadcast that no one listens to unless they worship Slaanesh or are insane) that his arrival will herald the triumph of the god of pleasure on the battlefield. He views his force, composed heavily of Noise Marines and Raptors, as a theatre composed of orchestra and acrobats, with him as the conductor. His insanity doesn't appear to take away from his tactical ability, though this could just be because he's too mad to be predictable.

    The forces of Slannesh had been pushed back, but only slightly. Even with their dedication the Word Bearers never had fully pushed them back, Argylle looked down on the ant like Inquisitions forces. Ants, scum, nothing more. Another Raptor flew beside him and began to take aim;

    "My lord, World Eaters approach from the south. At least 160 Berzerkers are moving quickly and will over take the Imperials quickly, what are our orders?"

    Chapter 1: Hallow Ones

    The Troops begin to move deeper into the temple, the place is utterly foul and every wall is completely covered in Chaos Runes and Foul leering Daemonic faces and other evil things. The Storm Troopers begin to find the remains of the Emperors Children, many of whom have been split in half by a sword of some form, blood covers the walls and floors as the Storm Troopers enter a sacrificial chamber a Word Bearer Apostle stands. He swings his mace towards the Inquisitor Helmian and roars a praise to Chaos, he explodes allowing Daemonic creatures to from from his broken flesh but that is not all. The Walls covered in Cultists remains begin to twist until new, silver, skeletal Daemons form from them who roar and snarl at the group before advancing........

    Screaming Warriors of Khorne stopped as the Emperors Children tore into them like a bird of prey, as they slammed into the warriors of crimson they found themselves almost unopposed. Sonic blasts crushed the organs and bones of the Berzerkers reducing them to paste within their armour and leaving them broken apart....

His senses sharpened, his pulse quickened and he could perceive the vastness of reality which flooded into his thoughts. The Tau fleet arrived at the foul portal, a storm of purple and blue swirling energy surrounded by Imperial and Chaos Craft in constant battle leaving the Tau heavily exposed but not under attack. Passing through a series of smaller rips in reality the Tau fleet arrived at the planet, Hecrion. The Tau had willfully surrendered to a new force, and embraced it with great zeal. Hundreds of Tau warriors prepared to deploy and march on the forces of Syrath the immortal.

    But a deep more foul voice spoke, even the other dark foulness of other sentient beings shook in fear, something utterly evil and wrong.......

    Fouls all of you.......all of you.......

    Your worlds......will become ash.......and fire......

    Evil.......doom......is all I.......that I spread.......weakness is all that you seek.....

    Shattered gods......broken dreams........pointless honor and self deceit....

    Nothing more......and I speak these words.......for it means nothing......it does nothing to help you in the coming storm of searing fire.........

    Come.....I wish to watch this......it amuses me.....I love the petty waring of mortals......

    The Daemons hissed and roared, they began to splinter into ash and fire. Nothing but fire remained, the psychic screams had reduced every one of the Daemonic beings in the room to ash.

    Argyll screamed in anger as the daemons so recently summoned to him burst apart in eldritch flames. Even the daemon bound to his sword seemed to feel the blast which had disintegrated their hard work and blood sacrifices. Swearing oaths of vengeance in the twisted tongue of a cult he had sacrificed millenia ago, he left the temple.

    Music, he thought. Music will make it all better. Immersing himself in the battle, he felt the joy of murder again. Who could remain angry with such spot to be had? Laughing manically, he took to the air.

    What was that?

    The Daemon within the blade could still speak, but it was weak and in pain. Its own brethren had been reduced to ash in seconds even in the presence of the pure warp energy, the dark metals of Slannesh had let it survived. The Emperors Children had escaped with few causalities and the Inquisition was to focused on this temple, interesting that such haters of the servants of Chaos had focused such attention away from them.

    The Tech-Marine was transfixed by the piece of technology, the key was gripped in the hold of a lock that would require much time to remove. He pondered and began to pry the key with his extra mechanical limbs and zoomed in with his secondary eyes. The Sorcerer Kenorth stood with him, chanting trying to break the field of energy that surrounded the lock while X'carhis snarled. He tired of this pointless poppy cock and moved towards the Sorcerer who seemed angered by his approach;

    "What my lord?"

    The Chaos Lord could of scythed this weedy, weak foul down but he restrained himself. Greystones blood would sate his tastes;

    "How long till you complete this process of tinkering Kenorth, I tire of this. Can we not move the key away from this desolate hole, it is a pointless debacle to stay here ourselves Kenorth. Even.....you know that."

    The Sorcerer growled but returned to his dark, gleeful stance quickly;

    "This is a delicate process and requires patience lord, we can not afford interruptions my lord and if the Tech-Marine cracks the code we can move on but for now. Throw every single force we have against the Imperials and order the hunters to clip the wings of the Imperials. Now."

    Suddenly the Tau was struck by an ominous vision.

    Within this hallucination the Shas'O could discern a bizarre image of a reflective rock, the size of his hand. When he looked closer, the object lost it's lustre and turned black as pitch...

    "You must bring it to me... for it is key to the obliteration of Syrath's followers!" the voice bellowed within Kais' head. "It is buried deep within the planet... not far from the Titan the pitiful beasts are squabbling over... "

    It will be done. And I will be mindful of my decisions.

    Kais then recieves the transmission, and commands a Warrior on the bridge to head to the hangar and prepare a landing craft for him and his personal guard, before replying to the Imperial message.

    "This is Shas'O T'au Kais, herald of the Tau Empire. I am here for one purpose onyl which does not concern you, nor should it worry you. My forces will not attack without my order, and that will only be given if provoked. Be wary, I command the entire firepower and force of the entire Tau Empire, do not make me give that order," Kais pauses for thought, before making one last statement. "I advise you focus yourselves on the Chaos thread, for we mean you no harm. I will leave this channel open if you need to tell me anything of due concern, but for now, farewell."

    Kais then procedes to don his ceremonial helmet, which is based on a standard Fire Warrior's, but with some "special improvements, and better armor protection. Makes sure it is firmly secured, before heading off to the bridge, his personal guard in tow.

    (We'll have to wait till Marta returns but back to X'carhis.)

    The Chaos lord watched as the Tech-Marine removed the final locks on the key, using the Power fists vague gravity manipulation abilities to grab the device. He now had the power to the ultimate prize on this barren world, soon he'd take what was his. Standing by him the Sorcerer moved forward and nodded to Chaos Space Marines who moved away from the chamber while he turned to the Chaos Lord;

    "Milord, the Imperials approach. I have begun to open a portal and Bravo team will cover our retreat, Greystone is a lesser objective than the Titan milord. Staying here violates our plans, while we both know that the good Inquisitor will follow us if we leave even the slightest trail."

    X'cahris turns to the blazing red portal;

    "Activate the explosives in 20 minutes,and leave a barren crater here."

    "Excellent... it is time that I rest once more... in preparation for what lies ahead... " the voice fades completely... and Kais feels a small part of his psyche vanish...

    At this time a brief memory from times past triggers within the Tau's brain... an echo of the whisper which had just left him:

    "I must reward you for the deed... reward you for the deed... the deed... "

    "Every thing is falling into place... "

    ======================================================================================================================

    OOC: I am going to reprise the role of Arrius while *Censored* returns to lurking back in the shadows...

    On a barren plain the form of a Daemon materialised... bloody and battered from a battle long past. To the creature it seemed only like yesterday, for only mere hours had passed in relation to the beast, while he had lurked within the Warp...

    It bellowed in agony, unleashing an ungodly roar... the Chaotic creature dragged it's ruined body upright and examined it's wings. They were torn and burnt from his battle atop the citadel.

    Arrius the Great. Brought so low. He scanned the Warp for his master but could not find him... no trace nor aftermath of his form... Syrath's presence was gone...

    The Daemon Prince roared in dismay once more...

    "I will gather those loyal... I will find him! I WILL REGAIN MY GLORY!" Arrius proclaimed aloud, directing it towards the Chaos Gods themselves

    The sudden burst of warp energy was felt by Argylle thanks to the daemon in his blade being sated on the blood of the enemies of his god. At full strength again, it noted and relayed the blast psychically, causing Argylle to pause in mid air, hovering on his multicoloured wings.

    [My lord?] an accompanying Raptor queried.
    Argylle sent the location of the disturbance to the champion of his Raptor team. [Send Raptor team three to this location] he commanded. If it is a gift from Slaanesh, it will be glad of a guide towards our enemies. If not... well, I'm sure it would like a swift return home.]

    Helmian sinks back into his restraints, visibly relieved.
    {Understood Shas'o, I will take your avice under advisement, you should know that I am not like many of my brothers and am often described as extremely Liberal. I have no quarrel with your kind, lets be honest, our two races would work better paired than at war. But enough of this, we have a war to fight.}

    just then a solid mesasge came through and Helmian listened intently
    {Inquisitor Gausse, this is techpriest Jiahovah. We have unvieled the purpose of the artifact it houses a key of great power that can be used to open the way to the titan, we reccommend destorying it immediatly}

    Helmian grins and opens a multi wavelength channel that connects him to both Greystone and the Amoneo obscurum.
    {Greystone I am ordering you to withdraw, I have been informed that there is a key that would be better off in shards inside that artifact, as soon as you are out give a vox tap and the Amoneo Obscurum will open fire on the Artifacts location. Make all haste, I do not know how much time we have.}

    As Kais speeds towards the planet below in his personal aircraft, which he recognised as being the same design as the silver shark. As soon as he thought that, memories flood back to him of the times before. Of the war.

    They are shaken away by the reply from the High Inquisitor Helmian Guasse coming in clearly through his helmet.
    He sent an automated message of acknowledgement back to the Inquisitor, before he hears somebody calling for him in the cockpit.

    Kais gets up, and walks past his elite guard, who are shown to be hghly anticipating the upcoming battles with glee. Just like they had been trained.

    "Shas'O," the pilot says. "We are almost at the site the treasure you showed us will be found. But there are a few Daemons on the ground. Just expect a very short battle, sir."

    A blast downed the shuttle, two Chaos Space Marines watched as the craft crashed into the surface of the planet. They quickly moved to see if they had downed the true quarry, but were disappointed when they saw the symbols of the Tau Empire. One of them quickly contacted their leader;

    ["Lord X'carhis,we have downed a Tau ship. The true quarry has made its way off-world, should we destroy the ship?"]

    [No....Return to base....leave the scum to the mutants.....deal with them....we are currently at the Titan site and preparing the key....do not....allow them to follow.]

    The Chaos marines quickly moved away from the burning wreck, quickly moving to cover.

    Greystone is growls but quickly rallies the troops to begin moving out of the temple, annoyed he could not stop the Chaos Lord but pressed on until the Imperial forces were returning to the surface but across the Vox-System a hideous and far to familiar voice appeared;

    "Oh hello Imperials. Just me checking in on your current failures!

    It seems due to Inquisitor Helmians arrogance, I've been able to gain the titan key with so little interference, your all so very kind. Now, what do you think I'm planning now you ask? Not much. Just killing billions in the name of the Chaos Gods."

    Coraks and the 1st War-Legions few remaining members had remained on this barren hell hole for 12 years, little remained of thee 1st War-Legion but they new their lord would return and the site of a fellow warrior of Syrath meant great things indeed. Coraks snarled as he saw Arrius and raised his hand to stop the advance of his troops;

    "Excellent......."

    The Emperors Children had seen the massed bombardment of the temple, they had watched as the temple was reduced to ash but also saw the arriving Tau forces. Such warriors would no be prepared for a quick and decisive strike....

    Helmian curses heavily as the vox message comes through and without a second thought grabs his sword and snaps it to his back mag lock whilst leaping out of the Stormraven. The drop ship was just shy of one hundred and fifty meters up but the trip was only about five seconds long. The rapid descent sent shudders through his armour and his sword rattled violently but Helmian wasn’t worried, it would stay there, Helmian had done this maneuver several times in his service to the empire.

    His arms were held tightly against his body; both legs slightly bent one below the other. He was tightly controlling this freefall and for good reason. The five second drop would destroy him if he didn’t get this right. The guardsmen around the land point got out of the way hastily and the solid ceramite below him cracked audibly as he landed, but Helmian was practiced in this and it appeared that he was simply leaping of the top of a tank, a tiny twitch of his knees and then he was rocketing forwards his titanic thighs pumping swiftly beneath him. Greystone saw him coming and turned hastily to keep up with Helmian. Gausse muttering as he passed.
    ”There’s been a change of plans”

    Gausse could not be stopped easily, his body now had the approximate inertia of a land raider at full throttle, there was little that could get in his way and survive, and less that would voluntarily be there, fully armoured dreadnoughts perhaps. His sword was of the mag lock and in his hand as he moved through the Artifact, a strange level of grace coming from his movements. Three Khornate champions charged towards him but he bunched his knees beneath him and pushed off, the graceful arc of his body as it flicked through the air was lost on the champions as he passed overhead, none of his momentum lost. He charged wantonly through the Artifact until he reached its core. The footsteps of chaos warriors hot on his heels he looked around the room. An empty plinth sat weary and empty. Helmian sank to his knees, his blade clanking as it hit the ground.
    ”What have I done?”

    He was like that when ten chaos marines charged into the room. He was up and moving without a second thought, his body moving like a battering ram to punch the chest of the closest marine, his fist punched through the armour and into the warrior’s chest and his hand opened and closed inside the traitor and then withdrew with a sickening crunch. A still beating heart clutched in his fist. His other hand came up and the inferno pistol there unleashed a stream of liquid promethium and destabiliser particles into the wound. The sight was sickening as the traitor’s insides melted but left his armour intact but Helmian was already moving, his hand slamming under the chin of the closest traitor, whose neck snapped backwards and his head spiraled off of the broad shoulders.

    Helmian dipped to the ground under the swing of a combat blade and then went upwards explosively his blade clutched in his fist once more. The tip of the blade hammered into the rib armour of the marine and impaled him to the hilt on the crackling force field of the consecrated weapon. The traitor’s blood hissed down the edge of the blade as Helmian wrenched it free. Gausse’s boot slammed into the dead traitor’s chest slamming him backwards into his brothers. Helmian used the brief lull to organize himself. But that lull wasn’t long. The chaos marines charged again but Helmian was ready for them, three fell to quick brutal slashes, another to a short burst of the inferno pistol. The final three marines were wary of him but nothing they could have done now could have saved them, and Helmian’s final swings were brutal and efficient downing them without second thought. Just as the last traitor fell Greystone entered the room, his breath heavy and short from heavy fighting and Vic was slamming another clip into his weapon. Gausse turned to the door and shouldered past Greystone, turning at the exit.
    ”I make no claim to having known this would happen, but I warned you that if your arguing with me delayed us from getting the artifact then I would have you executed, I follow up on what I say, I will personally escort you back to the Amoneo Obscurum for imprisonment and on expectation of death. Please, don’t make this any harder than it has to be. You have caused a great tragedy here that I will be hard pressed to fix, please hand over your weapon.”

    Inside the burning wreck of the Tau dropship, Kais and his guard lay in wait.
    Kais had listened to the Chaos Marines talking outside, and had motioned for his guard to stay back, not allowing them to be seen by the Chaos scum.

    When he heard them walking away, he quickly walked towards the cockpit to check if the pilot was still alive. There was no pulse. He was surely dead. He closed the deal pilots eyes in respect, and offered a silent prayer for him.

    He came back to his awaiting Elite guard, who we're battered and bruised, but weren't making a fuss about it.. He held up his hand, and counted down on his fingers, readying his rail rifle in the other, making sure his mind was clear.

    3,2,1.

    "Lets go."

    The burned temple... the titan... the warp disturbance... the tau. The entire battle was playing out in strange and wonderful ways, so unexpected that even Argylle's augmented mind had to work to keep up.

    [It's a daemon prince, my lord, what should we do?] came the voice of his raptor captain.
    [See what he wants. There could be a powerful ally here.] Argylle ordered.

    The burning of the temple would have to be avenged, he decided, but the wrecked Tau ship posed the possibility of reinforcements for the Xenos if they weren't dealt with quickly and efficiently. A quick bark of orders to his followers sent a well used plan into action.

    The air around the dropship rippled and distorted with blasts of sound. Whether or not everything was dead within five minutes, he and his raptors would drop from the skies onto their foes, either to finish off the dazed survivors or find the reason for their presence. Argylle preferred the first option.

    "You dare, you arrogant sorry fool!"

    Greystone pushes the Inquisitor and pulls up his shot-gun, he points it towards the Inquisitor and aims at the fools head;

    "You think this is my fault? You are blaming me for the faults of your petty life, get it into your thick head. You were told to go into the Eye of Terror you Muppet, we aren't leaving. This is a suicide mission, so taunt all you want because we will die in the end, we will indeed. So shut up and prepare for the end matey, do it now."

    Greystone walks away and loads his shot-gun and orders several Storm-Troopers to board Valkyries.

    Shas'O and his few remaining Warriors look up at the skies, foul black shapes that glitter with strange auras and colours look down and aim. Several of the Fire-Warriors are sent flying and are killed as their organs and bones break and crack but Shas and two others remain....

    Coraks smiles, while most of his face was covered by a helm Arrius could tell the Warrior of Syrath would enjoy murdering the fallen Saints foes, then in Arriuses head a foul and most sinister voice appeared;

    "Arrius.......come......to.........me......"

    Vic looked on from afar, seeing his master quarrelling with the Inquisitor. At first it seemed like an ordinary argument, presumably about tactics or ethics. Two subjects on which Vic he had no right to contribute his opinion. He brought his focus back to the enemy forces which were amassing from afar. However, the argument stayed at the back of his mind.

    He turned to face Gausse once more. What he saw horrified him. He saw that Greystone had pulled a gun on his master and he physically felt sick. It seemed, without a doubt, that Greystone was a traitor. Aiming a gun at a devout agent of the Emperor.

    He took the Bolt Pistol from his belt and affixed the scope, which he had been using to view the heretic forces.

    Without thinking, he charged straight towards the duo, as he saw Helmian attempt to strike Greystone.

    He yelled righteously, "For the Emperor! For His Judgement will be Swift" before planting two Bolter shells right into Greystone's knee caps.

    "I will not kill you for you saved my life. Sir!" Vic plainly said, "The Emperor is merciful and I must be to, so I will grant you life."

    Vic draws his Laspistol as well, firmly aiming it at Gausse's head. While still keeping his hand steadily on the trigger of his Bolt Pistol.

    "This man has committed no visible crime. I can not let you kill him, without performing a thorough interrogation." the Colonel piously exclaimed "For the God-Emperor, and his Devout Agents must show Judgement!"

    Greystone falls back, his strength sapped for now while Stormtroopers surround and take aim at Gausse. None object to the Inquisitors orders and begin to take aim at the Inquisitors head, all obviously loyal to Greystone.

    Vic is disgusted by the cowardly actions of Greystone and slips a stun grenade off of his belt.

    "Be reasonable Inquisitor! For thine Emperor is Just and you clearly are not! You both must face the consequences of your actions," the Colonel exclaims "I will not let my master come to harm, for I swore fealty to him!"

    Victorus surreptitiously rolled the grenade to the position of the Stormtroopers. To his delight it detonated right on time, as he sprinted towards Gausse.

    "I believe we have out stayed our welcome, Helmian. Perhaps we should just leave the Traitor here to die?" Vic quickly said to him during the confusion.

    X'carhis moves towards the two firing a twin-linked Bolter rapidly at the two who duck for cover, the Chaos lord drops the weapon and pulls out a power sword that is seething with Daemonic energies. He uses his power fist to crush a Stormtrooper and looks over to a broken Greystone who lies bleeding, the Chaos lord laughs and then turns to the two humans and smirks behind his helm;

    "While dissipointed by the lack of sport in this broken wreck but you may prove to be some entertainment, you. Skinny one, I must see if that Sorcerers predictions were true. Come over here now! Ok reaper I have to ask a question of you. Do you want me to go renegade,? cause I will dont think I wont, and then NO one will be able to withstand the wrath of the Amoneo obscurum and her warriors.

    oh and final point of note, there are no troops loyal to Greystone on the planet, all of the troops came from the Amoneo obscurum and of course the retinue of Gausse himself.

    So ah.. you may want to redo a post or two
