Hello folks!

We started out as a bitz reseller, started making our own bitz, then it all got out of hand.

Updates will be found further down the thread

Oh dear!

I'll hit it with a mallet momentarily. Oddly enough it doesn't do that when I view the site whilst logged in. I'll have a dig through and see what's causing it.

In the meantime you can browse using the "everything" category.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention though, much obliged!

Well, for a start are you going to keep it mono-race? If so I'd suggest adding Mantic Orcs, goblins (when they are released next year) and other companies like EM4 to your inventory

Fox Box :: April 2019 - Orc vehicle wound counters and Orc Bombs @ 2011/10/18 19:07:30

Post by: Fox Box

To start with the focus is on greenskins. In time we may well expand into more races, depending what people want.

That said, Mantic Orcs and Goblins are well within that remit and if that's what you guys think we should be stocking we'll do our best to make it happen. Thanks for the suggestion

Fox Box :: April 2019 - Orc vehicle wound counters and Orc Bombs @ 2011/10/18 19:12:47

Post by: Flashman

Aside from the aforementioned glitch, I'm impressed with the presentation of the website overall.

I'd echo that you may want to expand to other races sooner rather than later. Orks seem like an odd choice to start with, being that the big seller is Space Marines.

Fox Box :: April 2019 - Orc vehicle wound counters and Orc Bombs @ 2011/10/18 20:10:27

Post by: Fox Box

Ben: I've always been a greenskin player at heart. I enjoy converting stuff a lot and so I thought I'd go with that. I know what I'm doing with Orks/Orcs far more than with mariney boyz.

In time I may well accomodate marines though, perhaps starting with the AoBR set, if that appeals to anyone?

Anna: Besides, grots are the most awesomest (I don't care if it's not a word!) creatures ever!

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. Things have been going slowly but positively for us and now we're trying to figure out how best to reinvest what we've made so far.

We want to be stocking everything - Mantic, MaxMini, Kromlech, etc. but we can't really afford to do that just yet. We're trying to reinvest wisely so we can reinvest again sooner rather than later. To do that though we're going to need your input.
It boils down to three options at the moment:

Option 1
Start stocking Kromlech products. We would not be selling them as bitz but rather as kits.

We’d be able to ship stuff from the UK rather than Poland making postage cheaper and significantly faster for you. Our prices would also be in Pounds Sterling as you probably guessed and so you wouldn’t need to deal with exchange rates and all that jazz.

In terms of what we’d be stocking, that’d be up to you guys, but we've got some suggestions. We can’t afford to stock their whole range to begin with, although in time we would be.

Option 2
Extend our bitz range to include MaxMini Pirate Orc heads and their Feral Orc heads as well as stocking the GW Lootas & Burnas kit.
(This option would probably carry the most risk for us.)

Option 3
Something else entirely. You tell us.

Prevailing opinion in the office at the moment is to stock some Kromlech stuff but if you feel we'd be making a mistake in doing that, tell us

Fox Box :: April 2019 - Orc vehicle wound counters and Orc Bombs @ 2011/11/04 12:46:27

Post by: Azazelx

Why not go with Option 1 with a small amount of Option 2?

Fox Box :: April 2019 - Orc vehicle wound counters and Orc Bombs @ 2011/11/04 15:10:10

Post by: Fox Box

It may now be possible - we just got a couple of orders that should mean we can stock both some MaxMini bitz and the Kromlech stuff.

I'm thinking MaxMini pirate heads and their fancy new pirate goblin heads. How's that sound?

Nice site!

I'll be starting a mantic orc army soon, so will be looking around for the odd few GW bits of choice to add to it, so having a well-stocked bitz site would be great. My main problem I have with bitz sites is that they are constantly out of stock of everything and don't bother to restock for months at a time so I can never buy the part I want when I want. Your focus on greenskins should allow you to keep on top of things rather than having it out of control trying to track tens of thousands of different bits.

With stock management in mind, you might want to think about grouping some of the bitz... some things, like the heads, you'll want to sell seperately, but stuff like legs can probably be sold as groups. Bitz sites often don't think hard enough about how people will actually use their bitz and as a result take an OCD approach of listing every last little bit in it's own seperate category and then not being able to keep up with all the work involved.

So, with that in mind, I'd have to say that warhammer fantasy plastics would be the best next thing to add... maybe you could get battalion boxes and break them up to start with to give yourself an initial stock of parts.

Mantic orcs would definitely be worth adding, they have neat things on the sprues like the various plastic orclings.. getting the complete GW range sorted first would be the best thing to do though.

Quick update, folks!

We've just restocked most of the warbiker kit. We're considering restocking the missing parts of the trukk kit too but it depends on you guys. Would you rather we stock MaxMini pirate bitz or replenish the trukk kit?

In other news we've just paid for our first order from Kromlech. We're going to be distributing their kits in the UK. The initial order isn't massive as we've got limited funds but with any luck we'll soon be able to sell their whole range.

Thank you so much for this site! I just started Orks and this is an invaluable resource.

If you ever start stocking loota/burna kits I'd be over the moon, but just having access to a dedicated purveyor or boyz is fantastic (with a couple of bitz you can make 13 minis from each box...)

Kromlech stuff is now in stock!

We've done our best to get a variety of Orc stuff from Kromlech although that does mean that we don't have that much in stock. We're also saving up our pennies to buy either MaxMini pirate stuff or another GW kit soon.

There's some cool stuff around the corner that we're getting rather excited about too but more on that soon.

@A Kvlt Ghost
Thanks for the praise! We'll do our best to make Lootas and Burnas a priority.

Hey everyone!
January's been going quite well for us on several fronts and so I'm pleased to announce that we'll soon be stocking components from the Lootas & Burnas and Stormboyz kits.

There's some big news coming soon too but I don't want to show anything until I've got something tangible. Vague suggestions are exciting, right?

Well, maybe not, but hopefully you'll understand in a week or two.

Good news, everyone!

Lootas and Burnas are now in stock.

I've also restocked the Ork Boyz kit, which is nice. Hopefully I can start processing the Stormboyz kit tomorrow.

Tomorrow might also be a fun day because Hive City Terrain may get their first stock to me.

New stuff!
Today begins the collaboration between Hive City Terrain and Fox Box. What’s Hive City Terrain?

Well I’ll let Jim tell you himself:
Hive City Terrain was started in 2011 originally to sell resin casts of terrain pieces that I used to create a large board for a heavy urban environment. I created pieces to fit the theme I had in mind and also created pieces that filled a gap in the UK wargames terrain market.
After selling a few sets to friends and having positive feedback the next logical step was to start a small scale business.
Currently I am working with Ben of Fox Box to produce his excellent sculpts.
At the moment Hive City Terrain is predominantly 28mm scale but has pieces in the pipeline for 6mm wargames. Once HCT has made enough money the website will go online with lots of terrain pieces to fulfil a wide range of gaming needs.
-Jim
We’re stocking their stuff and they’re going to be helping us make our own product range a reality.
We’re starting off with his set of sandbags, of which you’ll get 3 for £6. Not too shabby, eh?

Fox Box :: April 2019 - Orc vehicle wound counters and Orc Bombs @ 2012/02/20 12:07:36

Post by: Fox Box

Jim's got something new for you, following up from the first set of sandbags - Hive City Terrain Large Sandbag Position:

It's three parts that slot together, spaced to fit three 60mm bases making it ideal for heavy weapons teams. As for the price, £4 for the complete emplacement.

Stormboyz are now available on the store.

We also now sell Gretchin but they're mostly out of stock. Hopefully there'll be more later in the week. Coming up next: Ork Battlewagon bitz.
Requests for after that?

I'm thinking GW Fantasy stuff, although perhaps you'd prefer the Deff Dread or Killa Kans?

Something new from Hive City Terrain - Columns:

We're doing sets of two for £4.

Meanwhile I've been working away at my sculpting and our own range is back on track. Hopefully there'll shortly be some pretty things to show you.

We’ve been hinting at it for a while now but at long last we’re pleased to announce the launch of our own product line.

They’re biker torsos modelled on the Spores of Anarchy Ork bikers you may have seen on The Waaagh or DakkaDakka (although these are more detailed than the ones they’re based on). There’s five different designs and they should fit with most normal scale Orcs and Orks.

As you can see it’s only one modest offering for the moment but there’s many more products in the pipeline. We’re also open to suggestions if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see.

Hopefully it won’t be long before we can announce the next things, although I'll be posting work in progress shots on Twitter and our Facebook. I'll post them here too if there's enough interest, I'm just concerned about being too spammy

Anyway we should have some painted up shortly. In the meantime I can show you a photo of the greens:

Then there's some heads:

Lastly there's a pistol that's going to be part of another few sculpts, although if you guys want them we can probably make them available separately as well:

Hi there I'm sure i mentioned this a while back when i first came across your site but I'll bring it up anyway. Have you thought about adding the Finecast or ForgeWorld Ork stuff as there seems to be very few places that do them outside of eBay (that's not often either)? I say this because i myself am currently still looking for parts from both ranges but have had no luck. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there that wants these and it would give you something that other similar online stores don't have.

Jay

I've definitely considered it, Originalj4y and I plan on stocking Forgeworld and Finecast stuff in the future. It's on the cards!

Which things would you be looking for specifically? It's hard to know what to prioritise.

My personally at the moment am after parts from the FW Nob Bikers set and Finecast Ghazghkull Thraka. Very few places seem to do parts from those packs and until they do i've hit a wall.

I also think the FW kommando conversion pack is popular after looking around.

Hope that helps.

Jay.

Nice stuff.

As far as suggestions, I've always wanted to see some retro sci-fi orcs. Basically orcs who got ahold of some ancient earth telecasts of 50s sci-fi movies and took on some of those looks.

Also, I don't know why no one has done this yet, but Doctor Whork... Not conversion bits, but whole models of orcs who have taken on the persona of various versions of the Doctor. I could see them as a nobz mob or pain boyz or mek boyz or even a warboss.

Post by: Fox Box

Pulpy sci-fi stuff, eh?

I'll throw around a few ideas. There's certainly potential for some fun Mekboy weapons and looted guns!

As for full Orc sculpts, I'll give it a shot. That little guy is my first full goblin sculpt (his head is separate, currently missing an ear).

Any preference for which version of Da Doktor you'd like first?

Well, Tennant would probably be the most popular nowadays, but I'd like to see some of the older ones with Tom Baker probably being the most iconic.

In other news the site is getting some polish in a few areas and GW Orc Boyz bitz are available too. The riot shields aren't the only Fox Box resin bitz that have come in though, there's a big pile here. Frantic painting is going on to get the stuff on the site as quickly as possible. You think so? Thanks! It's really nice to hear I'm improving.

The machine pistols will be going up at some point this week (i.e. when I've painted a set to photograph, not "in three months"!). Judging by changes in sixth edition I should probably see about doing some assault rifles though unless a new codex makes slugga boyz useful again.

That said I look forward to using the machine pistols for my biker models.

Right, back to the workbench! These goblins aren't going to sculpt themselves...

It has been a long time coming but it's finally ready for release - the Fox Box Orc Truck Extension.

I don't know about you but I can never fit quite as many greenskins on a truck as I'd like. Hopefully this'll go some way to solving that problem!

It's available with wheels or without. Any 27mm wheels with a 4mm axle bore should fit but if you'd like some chunky wheels with it they're available as an option.

Edit: Fixed. That's really bizarre that I missed that. I'm normally very attentive to licensing and I could have sworn I credited the Tumbeasts when building the site. I shall have to have a dig around to see what happened to that - there's something odd happening here!

Ages ago I posted photos of a goblin sculpt and since then I've sculpted another six or so. Whilst working on them I started thinking about some vehicles for them. Long story short what started out as greasy idea soup is starting to congeal into three different factions. The first two are of course Orcs and Goblins. The third is something else - The Holy Order of the Ark, the Sororitas Arcanum.

So whilst I'm getting the goblins ready for casting I thought I'd release these multi-part bad boys, or more accurately bad girls. Or good? I don't know, it depends where you stand...

Get them here:

(Yes, "Sororitas Arcanum" can also be translated as "Sisters of the Box". I do enjoy daft little jokes... )

They definitely fit Anvil Industry's brilliant Regiment weapons:

I don't know about bulkier stuff - they're not super humans after all! Possibly with some hot water a bit of repositioning would work.

Goblins and Sororitas Arcanum are all well and good but I reckon it's about time the Orcs got back into the action. Here's the latest:

They're made up of interchangeable parts:

With arms to go with them:

There's six designs for each part making for a total of 216 combinations (I'm fairly sure of the maths but if not hopefully some clever clogs can correct me.). Hopefully that's enough to get a bit of variety out there

You have some interesting stuff on your page. You need to advertise those priests in the thread.

However (and I don't want to come of as a dick or anything but) I think you need to get some better paintjobs on the minis and bits. Now they are painted very flat and monotone, thus making them look less attractive rather than more appealing.

Yep, looks like I forgot to post about them here
I was hoping to promote them once they're painted but more on that below.

Absolutely agreed . The front page of the site could do with a rework too, I don't mind saying.

Phew, it's been a while. ExiliCon and related really kept me busy.
On the plus side it helped me go through my older stock and have a bit of a clear out. I'm trying to determine what's getting a remaster and when. I don't really want to drop anything from my catalogue but some things will be unavailable for a while once the remaining stock is gone.

The current priority is the Truck Extension Kit. The last units of it are gone and the old moulds need to be replaced.

Here's the masters (without the wheels):

Mostly I'm actually quite happy with them. There's a few things I'm going to tweak or repair (the odd lost rivet here or there) but I hope to have them cast up in the next few days.

I'm excited because this was such a difficult kit to put together back in the day and it ended up costing a lot to boot (and so a high price on the store was required). These days I reckon I can probably do all the parts (except the wheels) in a single mould. That'll make casting it a breeze and allow the price to come down to much saner levels. It'll also be cast in a more well-behaved resin.

Whilst working on the truck extension kit I ended up getting a bit sidetracked and started creating my own truck kit.
With any luck it'll be a standalone design that can be extended into a transport vehicle using the extension kit.

It's the same overall length as the extended version of the GW trukk as you can see in this early picture:

I'm looking forward to the next bit of the construction process as it's going to be pretty much exclusively detailing. Then I've got to design another two axles and the canopy frame/roll bars.

Glad to see the extension kit is coming back and always glad to see new ork vehicle kits.

I'll certainly be in the market for both when ready.

A request I will make of you, a range of decent looking, similar but each slightly different, guns for converting GW gobbos into grots. I have a shed full of the little bastards I'd like to turn into grots with a suitable grot gun (I'm thinking something like a more slender/lighter built ork shoota. A sprue of several, like the old gorka and necro weapons, would be sweet.

This is brilliant! The "build your own shootas" is absolutely incredible. Definitely gonna dump some change in the coming weeks. Are there any plans/potential for a "Build your own Snazzguns" kit for Flash Gitz? Honestly, I'd flip if you expanded on the "build your <weapon> idea with burnas, rokkit launchas and deff guns, etc.

I've had a goblin assault rifle sprue in the works for a while but other projects have taken precedence. Some of those weapons were used for the Goblin Guerrilla Fighters. Would you prefer something less Kalashnikovy?

Snazzguns, eh? Well that would allow for a lot more details! There should definitely be a car battery haphazardly attached somewhere, for a start.

Which weapon classes are the biggest priority? Whilst I could do the lot there's only so many hours in the day and I'm not the fastest mek in the world.

Your pick, mek! I'd be cool with whatever orky contraption you'll build. Maybe see if others might like the idea (which I'm sure they would) and have a vote on which set of weapons you might make a "build a <weapon>" kit for? My vote goes to Snazz Guns and burnas, personally

I've been working on the armament for the truck and the crew. Once they're done then it should be easy to continue on structural things. This is the problem with creating multi-part kits - things need to interlock but one can't glue them together properly during creation.

The truck is going to have a machine gun option and a rocket launcher option. Currently the focus is on creating the machine gun as it's a very specific design (and whilst the rocket launcher is also its design is significantly simpler). As with other things this is where 28mm "Heroic" scale is tricky - things aren't proportional. I have to make a judgement call on which bits should remain prominent and which can be safely shrunk down.

So for reference the machine gun is based on the M60:

Here it is on the truck (missing its rear iron sight - it hasn't been attached yet):

As you can see the gunner is sitting on a stack of boxes. Currently they're placeholders as they're going to be replaced by ammo tins:

I'm working on a master at the moment:

Once it's done I'll make some copies and use them for a variety of things. Extra boxes and stuff to decorate vehicles
If anyone is wondering the rocket launcher is going to be based on the M202 Flash (you might know it as the Grim Reaper from Call of Duty: Black Ops).

I'm starting to have a think about snazzguns but I'm not really sure of many interesting directions to take flamethrowers. Maybe inspiration will strike yet though!

The build your own guns is a truly excellent idea, I second the idea of expanding this for your orc range, I think you could do some fantastic things. As you didn't include the ammo with the bodies of the guns most could be pretty universal, so you could just expand into other mags/fuel/battery's to clip underneath and matching barrels/nozzles/rockets on the end.
The progression of your skills seem to be rocketing off. Keep it up look forward to picking up a custom truck and some gun parts and seeing where you take all this!

Postage to mainland Europe starts at £4.99 but it's based on weight so it'll vary depending on what you order. On the plus side the cart has a calculator that gives accurate numbers based on what you've picked.

Some of you may have already seen but I figured I'd post it here too. I'm trying to decide what this new set of weapons should be called. They were going to be called "Goblin Assault Rifles" but that was before I added various other weapon types to the mix. There’s a machine gun (RPK), a rocket launcher (RPG-7), and several carbines (AKS-74U and similar).

Second problem - putting "goblin" in the product name is a bit confusing because they're for humans too. Here's a GW Catachan squaddie with one:

I also thought of just calling them "Goblin Assault Weapons" but the term "assault weapon" has a fair bit of political baggage attached to it in the US. Probably best to give that one a miss.

So, erm, HALP!

Yeah, I don't think the term "assault rifles" has any particular baggage in context of a miniature wargame. Especially considering assault weaponry is a specific type of weapon in said wargame.

The choice of terms for games is up to the designers and they're not the ones selling products with the term in the name. Let's be clear though "assault rifle" isn't the problem - the more generic "assault weapon" is. It's a bit like journalists not being able to tell the difference between a hunting rifle and a machine gun and how that reflects on their understanding of a story. My customers are mostly wargamers but anyone can browse the site and the company name has my surname in it so hopefully you can understand why I'm a tad cautious!

Thanks to everyone who helped us out by suggesting names for our new product!

When we posed the question it was to get some help with a problem we were grappling with but so many of you chipped in that we agreed (in secret, all very hush hush) to make a competition of it. We’re planning on doing some properly announced competitions in the future but I’m sure you won’t mind us giving away some free stuff right now.

After much deliberation we’ve chosen to combine two excellent suggestions, which means that we have two winners! Congratulations to both B0b Marley and MacMuckles: you each get £10 of store credit to spend on Fox Box brand stuff.

We’ve also got a special prize for Roy James for his entry on Facebook: Dakka dakka bling bling…………Sprue. We’re not going to use it but anything that gets a good chuckle out of us is worth rewarding. £5 of Fox Box stuff for him too!

Meet the new product: Red Army Scrapguns! A sprue full of kickass for just £3.50. Fits both goblins and humans.

Is there anything crucial that's missing?
Things like special weapons and other heavy weapons will probably be added later when we've got designs that we're satisfied with. Is there anything obvious that we've left out though?

I would love to be able to offer them as full multi-part models. The problem is that multi-part kits take an absolute age to sculpt. Every part needs to fit with every other part and so each new part has to be checked against all the ones created so far, adjusted, retested, and so on. One day I'll get there though but it's going to be a while, sadly.

On the plus side if I can use the existing gobbos as a basis for a multi-part range then it'll make the process easier. Lots of other things to be working on in the meantime though. I do want to create a goblin technical though and I've got a weird goblin bicycle thing nearly done too...

Yes, thats the ticket...tho it verifies my fear of the kit...if one would want to swap an arm with another wielding agun/cchoppy, then the handle wouldn't be there...hmmm but I bet the handle is per se a rather simple straight forward shape, right?

And I see your point here with the multi part kit issue...tho, these arms as described, in a way like your ork arm set you did would also be a leap into the right direction...

And a technical would be a cool idea...depends on the vehicle it is based upon...would avoid the too strong Isis look tho...

Any old bit of rodding or sprue should do the trick.

 Viktor von Domm wrote:

It's all definitely do-able - it's just a matter of how long it takes to get it done and which projects have to be sacrificed to free up that time. At the moment I'd like to give the goblins a few other options like a few heavy weapons and a couple of vehicles. They're not really being built for any one rule set.

 Viktor von Domm wrote:

It wouldn't be based on any vehicle in particular - that's pretty much what makes it a technical It'd be a generic pick-up truck with a mounted gun. I don't know enough about cars to base it on anything anyway!

 Viktor von Domm wrote:

That sounds more like a paintwork issue and the day I have to sell painted models you know it's game over
Joking aside I have no idea what an ISIS vehicle even looks like!

I'm trying to figure out what to do about a new version of my Orc Riot Shields. Currently they're a set of three but I want to redesign the sprue to contain five or six but in doing so it seems to be a sensible idea to pair them with another arm.

The question then becomes this: pistols or clubs?

Baton-like clubs would fit the theme better but perhaps you guys would prefer pistols and close-combat weapons.

Maybe make both sets, and have clubs/pistols separate sprues from the shields and let customers choose which they'd like with their order?

I want to make one mould that contains both left and right arms so it's kind of a one or the other type deal, sadly. For now I'm going with clubs for batoning people

The bottom row looks interesting but I don't really understand the big guns or how they're meant to be used with an infantry kit. Do you have an example of them in use? What are the fifth, sixth, and seventh from the left (bottom row) meant to be as well? I'm guessing the sixth and seventh are a heavy flamer and multi-melta respectively.. is the other some type of heavy bolter?

 MLaw wrote:

The short answer is that the arms that would go with them are specific to Sororitas Arcanum models and aren't finished yet.

The longer answer is that I figured that these models might be used for a variety of games and models and as such would probably need to be modified a fair bit to fit if they came with specific handles and grips. I need some for some SA models with heavy weapons and I figured it wouldn't do any harm to make them available as a bit of a bonus for others wanting them.

 MLaw wrote:

From left to right: Falchion heavy machine gun, some sort of big flamethrowery thing, and a heavy Thermal Agitator (“Thermag”).
I've designed pistol and specialist weapon versions of these too but they currently only exist as specifications.

Big one this time!
We've got things from both me and 'im and his stuff is stonkingly good.

First off these cult-inspiring beauties:

Craig built them for his gorgeous Big Rig build (Full playlist here):

Get them here:
http://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-orc-engines-3

Also for that rig? Barrels!

They're here:
http://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-barrels-8/

Now for my stuff. I made some basic Orc legs and figured other people might want them too.
They're not supposed to be amazingly dynamic, beautiful, or impressive. They come in a set of six and are pretty cheap.

Again, get 'em here:
http://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-basic-orc-legs-6/

Lastly we've got shotguns. Good for dealing with pretty much anything that gets too close and available in a variety of styles:

Four of them, with arms, here:

I ordered the two of the engine packs and they've arrived promptly and well packaged

all cast in a good quality cream resin, sharp casts and very little flash (and a chunky pour gate, but positioned in an easy place to remove)

I shall have to knock up a buggy or walker or two for them to go in

they also threw in some miscast barrels as freebies (always useful), a couple of ork arms (club and pistol), very nice casts again, and a machinegun & ammo belt, again very nice, thanks guys!

so if you're interested in buying I can recommend their service

I don't know about you but when it comes to long weekends the first day is pretty much a write-off. With any luck though we're now all a bit better rested and can get on with whatever it was we'd planned to do with this Easter holiday thingy.

We've not got any tasty chocolate eggs for you but we do have a 20% off sale on Fox Box branded stuff:

The code is "yoink-2016" if the image doesn't display for you

Also some new stuff - the old 1.5 mould has kicked the bucket so onwards and upwards to 2.0!

Got plans for a vehicle using Craig's awesome engines? You'll need some wheels then

http://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-medium-war-rig-wheels-4/

http://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-medium-worn-wheels-4/

Every now and again a mould needs replacing and usually that's a fun opportunity for us to add new details to the new version. Currently the Create-a-Shoota kit is being redone (they're not gone forever, worry ye not!) but these bad-boys are finally available separately:

http://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-armoured-truck-wheels-4/

Unless otherwise stated our wheels all use the standard 4mm diameter axle that seems to have become the de-facto standard.

Fox Box :: April 2019 - Orc vehicle wound counters and Orc Bombs @ 2016/06/18 12:20:52

Post by: Fox Box

We're still getting stuff setup at our new place but in the meantime stuff is being worked on. A few of you asked about when our old Create-a-Shoota kit will be back in stock and the answer to that is "it won't" - it's being upgraded to a new version with more bitz! The old one had six weapons arranged to allow 216 possible combinations. The new one will allow for a thousand!

The bits aren't on a sprue yet but here they are laid out for you to ogle:

Others have been asking after the truck extension kit. It's coming back soon too - I just want to make sure the new version includes all the relevant parts to fit with the new truck kit:

It pairs with the (soon to be reissued) truck extension kit like this:

There's a few extra images in the album.

Post by: Fox Box

Something to note about the new truck kit - it's designed to fit with other things:

It's a big enough kit that it needs to be on several separate sprues so I figure they'll probably be available separately.

So now wheels have been cast, the chassis and axles are ready, the cabin needs a few more rivets, and wait - we need some crew right? Weapons would be a good shout too, I expect.

Here's the first cast from the mould. It needed a few tweaks and a certain prat forgot to remove the pedal masters from the driver's feet before pouring in resin but not bad overall!

I'm pleased that the fine details of the weapons survived:

If you want to replace them with something more post apocalyptic I'm sure you won't struggle. Personally I'm rather fond of the M60 and M202 FLASH (which would in no way be safe to mount on a vehicle like this!). I feel like I'm getting better at tweaking weapon proportions to match heroic scale - in the past I've found it difficult to stray from the real world proportions.

Back in 2010 The Unnamed Gorkamorka Site released a Halloween scenario featuring “Da Monster” drawn by Clayton Tait. Well YakTribe had a contest a little while back with the theme “It came from the…” and I felt like having a bash at this sculpt would be a fun challenge. It’s taken a while to get it cleared for commercial release but now we’re good to go!

As you can see in the comparison photos – this guy is big. He can easily go toe-to-toe with a Games Workshop Ork warboss and uses a similar 40mm base:

Here's a spinny video thingy of him:

I'd like to eventually but it's a fairly low priority at the moment as there's a pretty big backlog of things to get released at the mo'! I'll get there eventually

Several things to report!

One:
The new Create-a-Shoota kit is up on the site. It's much like the old one but now there's ten of everything so there's 1000 possible combinations (so about five times as many as were possible before!). Pictures:

http://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-orc-create-a-shoota-kit-v2/

Two:

I was putting these together for something else and Kiblams suggested I cast them as they are as well. I trust him so here they are!
From left to right:
Capped oil displacement spray
Oil can
Open-style toolbox
Barn-style toolbox
Pack o’ smokes
Blowtorch
Pipewrench
Tube of gunk
A mallet or lump hammer

Lastly I've made a video showing off how the Pickup Truck goes together:

The missus tries to keep my priorities straight when it comes to working on things but I'm a slippery one sometimes. I'll have fobbed her off in October with "Nah, that can wait" or something and so November became a bit of a mad scramble to get this guy finished:

There's a short video of me showing off the kit and how it fits together too:

He's up on the site here:
http://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-santa-klawz/

Last thing - posting dates. With Christmas coming up the Royal Mail has cut-off times for getting things delivered. After a certain point stuff basically won't arrive until the first week of January.
So if you want things to arrive before then here's the deal:

I'll be taking a break from 16th December to ~3rd January.

Depending on the time an order comes in and whether I have to pour resin it either gets posted same day or next day. The Royal Mail has a single page PDF with the weirdly specific country listings and their cut-off times but the general advice is to get your orders in sooner rather than later. You UK people have two working weeks and the rest of you should check the PDF

As the end credits of Love Actually roll and I stubbornly refuse to remove my paper hat from dinner it occurs to me that it's probably time to announce our second Foxing Day sale. Instead of a voucher code this time we're sticking a load of discounts on things for Boxing Day.

I've had a quick fiddle with the timings as it probably makes more sense to run it until the end of boxing day in most of the US.

If I've done it right then things should stay on sale until midnight PST (UTC-8) or 8AM GMT on 27th.

Second thing. Not really sure what to say about these - they're just something fun I knocked together for another project:

Also if you're in the Sheffield area we're going to be at Chill Con 2017 on the last Saturday in May (27th):

We don’t go on many holidays and they’re rarely anywhere glamorous. This time we’re heading to Wales to visit my parents. I know, that Instagram life I lead. Anyway, my folks always ask how things are going with the business and it’d be nice to be able to have a good moan about all the work I’m going to need to do when we get back!

So to encourage that sort of thing we’re doing a sale on our stuff. As always that means things we make – Fox Box stuff. Not the plastic bitz, not TakUnderhand’s beautiful laser-cut acrylics, not the odds and ends in the Mek’z Speshul category. Just our stuff! That’s quite a lot of products these days, I’m proud to say.

As the graphic below says the code to put in at checkout is “eggthingy2017”. Mmmm eggs…

We run JigoShop as our ecommerce solution and have done since it was a fairly new bit of software. A little while back, a few months, something like that, they finally hit version 2.0. I don’t make a habit of upgrading production software until it’s been out a while just in case there’s some show-stopping bugs that haven’t been found yet.

So when we get back from our holiday I’ll be tinkering with the software and doing my best to make sure everything is running smoothly. This could take a few hours, or it could take days. I have no idea – that’s one of the reasons I’ve been putting off doing it!

I’ll also be revising our postage costs slightly as it’s now a new financial year and that means the Royal Mail have once again raised their prices. One more reason to get orders in before the sale ends!

Now if only I could convince someone to buy me a chocolate egg. It’s been bloody years!

Some of you might have been following this project on our Facebook page and have seen some of the fun setbacks we ran into but to others this'll be all new. It's going to be on our site within a month but until then the only way to get it is to be at ChillCon 2017 in Sheffield at the end of May.

There's also a YouTube video of it on a turntable:

Right, I'd best get back to work!

Oops, forgot to update the topic. Let's see what's been released that I'd forgotten to mention on here!

Red Army Scrapguns are back in production:

https://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-red-army-scrapguns/

I still haven't finished painting the damned things but they've been out for a while:

http://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-orc-blackfinger-parts/
(the tools themselves are also available here)

Oh and the Tiny Tank is actually out too:

https://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-tiny-tank/

Sticking with greenskins there's some Tommy Guns that someone on Facebook requested:

https://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-orc-tommy-guns/

Someone over on the Reddit Warhammer discord channel asked for these and they seemed fun sooo:

https://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-orc-ranger-torsos-5/

We've been playing Shadow War: Armageddon at our local gaming club too and there's various things that aren't directly related to greenskins that we're selling as a result. LavaTurbine makes these NecroGauges with various handy measurements on them:

https://fox-box.co.uk/product/lavaturbine-necrogauge/

There's also one with measurements for Gorkamorka if you're a crazy person like me who loves that game:

https://fox-box.co.uk/product/lavaturbine-movey-gubbinz/

Getting back to Shadow War the missus favours the Adepta Sororitas and has been viciously successful against my Orks as well as a few other opponents. I've seen an Inquisition force take her down before though, eventually...
Anyway, for that she uses my Sororitas Arcanum models as proxies and this has given me a bit of a boot up the backside to get a few things released. The Sororitas Arcanum models are, whenever possible, multi-part. I built them that way to allow for replacement parts like these:

https://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-sororitas-arcanum-crusader-non-boob-plate-torsos/

Or these:

https://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-sororitas-arcanum-crusader-heavy-weapons/

Then there's this character model which I sculpted a few years back but still rather like, even if it's not all that flattering. It's based on the missus and comes with a whole swathe of weapon options:

Some other WiP shots from various people's builds of her:

https://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-sororitas-arcanum-canoness/

Last thing - we were at Barrage in Staffordshire a little while back. I sculpted a participation prize for a competition based on a mechanic from Mad Max:

He's not for sale but I've got a few left and orders over £25 will get a free copy thrown in until the bag's empty.

Nice! Propane tanks are always useful.
To me, anyway.

I've been a bit busy today fixing some database issues on the site's backend but the sale is still happening. Also it'll run until the end of 2017 - 'owzat?

No need for a code, items are individually discounted:

GW bitz are having some issues - trying to get their visibility sorted at the moment (lots of GW plastics are showing up despite being out of stock. You can't order them by accident but it's annoying that they're ignoring the "hide out of stock items" setting!).

Right, back to eating Christmas dinner leftovers for me!

I'll admit it, I forgot to update this thread

There's a fair few new things, let's see if we can tempt any of you.

First of a driver and a pilot for kitbashing and scratchbuilding. The heads are separate for variety, or if you just plain don't like our heads

https://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-orc-driver/

https://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-orc-pilot/

Then we've got some propane tanks because details matter. Not in a "written on the side of a van in fake handwriting" kind of way but as in that the eye is drawn to them. I built a dice tower recently partly as an excuse to use lots of the parts we sell for myself. I'm usually too busy to scratchbuild stuff that's not for work these days!

https://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-orc-propane-tanks/

I love having things scaled for Orks and these fit right in with the jerry cans, barrels, beer kegs, and so on that we do.

Similarly these can be rather handy for giving character to models on foot and vehicles alike.

https://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-orc-infiltrator-tools/

I've not finished painting the unit in my 40K army that uses these so a placeholder will have to do!

https://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-orc-tankhunta-torsos-5/

Unsurprisingly these aren't painted for the same reason - my set have been attached to some torsos and are sitting in the painting queue!

However here's a better photo of them:

Almost there now!

As you can see, it's not that I haven't been painting, it's just there's a lot to do!

You can get a better look at him here:

I call mine "Big Gav" and field him as a Big Mek with a Kustom Force Field in my 40K force. A Primaris Psycher took him down last week but only because he was down to one wound. Why was that? Well, you see, a Burna-Bommer fell on him...

Then there's some models that just went up a few hours ago, these Iron Kurtin Goblins. Sculpted by the rather brilliant Nathanael.

https://fox-box.co.uk/product/fox-box-iron-kurtin-goblins/

They're shown off individually in this turntable video:

Right, I'm going to get back to fighting with the API. There's a load of plastic bitz to go up but I need to make sure the shop software actually knows we have them!

Armoured things getting you down? Some artillery-grade plasma will wipe away that frown, and probably anything else that gets in the line of fire…

It comes with a choice of blast shields and the wheels use a standard 4mm axle (making them interchangeable with almost anything):

Here’s a scale comparison with an Ork:

There’s also a turntable video showing off both blast shields:

Several fun new things! First there's a pack of things that are sort of hard to categories. They're for making vehicles and terrain a bit more interesting - greeblifiying them.

Then there's this little truck that I'm really rather fond of:

Lastly something we released last month or thereabouts and I forgot to post about:

I should probably post about this here while it still applies - we've got a sale on!

These were popular at CHILLCON in Sheffield a couple of weeks back and now they're on the site!

I may have made a smug face when I came up with the idea
