Found this interesting post on TTF. Looks pretty cool. Seems to be from a distributer of Robogear

Tehnolog released a new set of 28mm modular terrain set called Scorched City.

Each set includes one sprue, but several sprues can by used to make larger buildings and ruins.

Thanks again to Lord Velard for sending this in!

Unfortunately for the life of me, I cannot find the actual set itself. Lots of toys and stuff though

http://tehnolog.ru/

EDIT

Hmmm well I THINK I found it but it comes with a set of figures, that also look too big for 40k

I like that they are not overdone - the cities of death stuff is nice but so ornate it takes forever to paint and almost overwhelms the figures.

Plus the fact that they are completely modular. I have some of the Platformer and Hexagon stuff and I really like that part.

A bit flimsy looking, but it would be easy to add internal bracing (from leftover sprue/plasticard) hidden under the floor/wall joints.

For me, the weakest aspect is those connector thingies which are overly visible in the assembled buildings (ditto for their Platformer and Hexagon range). I realise they're there to make the bits as modular as possible, but I'd be wanting to hide/disguise them on any assembled model.

I do like them though - here's hoping they'll be available by themselves soon.

A bit tight, but manageable. It's not like real castles had any head room.

How true this is, I don't know, but it is rather unfortunate. Would have loved some to go along with the upcoming Deep Wars units.

100% agreed.
To me, the building looks like someone said, "What if we made a whole building out of nothing but doors?"
And someone else said, "Yeah! And, on one wall, the door will have a door IN IT."
Then, they both said, "Cool!" and had another toke.

I own a few sets of the Tehnolog medieval castles and they are indeed a bit small for the Citadel scale, perhaps more Skaven-sized than human sized. Looks a bit awkward with Citadel minis, I plan to use foam to level-up the castles a bit. Nice quality though, despite being very complicated and needing lots of glue to assemble (all pieces have a specific side to be assembled, which is not obvious to the naked eye, and the instructions are in russian though with several pictures...) I haven't finished building the sets up yet, lots of work.

Tehnolog - New Modular Terrain, 28mm ruins (russian toy site) @ 2012/12/28 07:52:53

Post by: Clang

I don't mind the techno-medieval feel to the new scenery at all. A certain company with the initials G and W do the same, but at least Tehnolog don't cover everything in skulls as well.

As with previous Tehnolog releases, the biggest weakness for me is the clip-together look. I realise it's a selling point for some customers - "yay, I can assemble and reassemble without glue" - but the result always looks overly toy-like. However, when converted into permanent buildings with the clips chopped off (thus requiring gluing the walls onto a plasticard undershell/frame), it can look great.

Short answer no.

Long answer. From the previous images i have found the models looks around 54mm high in plastic but the terrain looks useable.

Gimme a tick to find pics....

From our very own dakka here is a pic of some robogear which scales with it almost completely.

Tehnolog - New Modular Terrain, 28mm ruins (russian toy site) @ 2012/12/30 14:06:11

Post by: Eilif

That's my pic in the post above.

The Technolog/Robogear stuff scales well for vehicles and terrain (mostly) but the figures are about 40-45mm. 1/48 (much taller than 28mm, which is technically 1/56) is probably pretty close to what they actually are, but I don't trust the russian scale notations much.

The one in the pic is a pilot. The trooper figures have heads and separate torsos that scale well with 40k, but the arms and legs are way too long. I've heard that some of their newer sci-fi figs are even bigger.

Their fantasy figs range widely from much too small, to just about right, to way too big.

I've purchased from the Velard ebay site many times and always had good service. It's my go-to site for robogear.

They have very low shipping rates, but they do it by throwing out the box and putting your stuff in a grocery bag and shipping in a padded mailer. Fine for me, but just so you know.

It says it's in stock at their non-ebay store, but that might be wrong.

Either way, I wouldn't worry too much about it. When stuff goes out of stock, it usually returns in a few weeks. If you show interest, it might be sooner. I emailed her about the Robogear "Condor" (sort of a chibi vendetta) when it went out of stock and it showed up a couple weeks later. It's one of the only Ebay stores I sign up to recieve email updates about.

I received my 3 catapults, here is a pic of the sprues for 2 of them (so you can see the front and back):

It didn't come with printed out instructions (and was in a padded envelope, hence the cheap shipping, but arrived just fine!) but here is an online pic of how to assemble it:

I went ahead and ordered 3 cannons from their online webstore after communicating with them via email (they said they had 3 in-stock and would ship next day). So far, I've been very pleased, and felt safe enough using Paypal (and my credit card as the funding source, just in case).

Pretty darn thrilled to be getting these things at $6 a pop and only $5 shipping for all 3 together, it's quite a deal, imo! Will post when I've received the cannons, too.

Yes, there is a spring in the picture but they didn't come with one. Not sure if I'll be assembling it with a spring or not (will see if it makes a difference on whether the arm can remain at an upright angle).

Edit: Here's the pic of the sprues I got since the page rolled over (these are 2 catapult sprues side-by-side, so you can see the top and bottom of it). They are plastic.

As overpriced as Cities of Death is, at least it's quality. The platform stuff looks too toy-like for my taste. The platformer stuff was better because it was modular, but didn't have the "toy block" look to it whan it was completed.

The technocrab is indeed awesome, although I would prefer it to be all techno, or all crab, not a mix. But it would make a great Chaos vehicle.

The fantasy cannon looks great. The Hellcannon is afantastic model, one I'd even pay the Finecast price for, but this is a close second. The price (SIC BUCKS?!!) is amazing. Maybe for Dwarves / Chaos Dwarves, or IKRPG or WM/H or some D&D-like RPG. For the price you could pick us several.

The protal thing looks cool, the least "toy-like" thing they make.

I have some of the Robogear, and it's good but cheap, and the figures are a head taller than GW.

The extra artillery pieces would be great for Ork vehicles.

Don't know why it's all bigger than GW scale, they clearly know GW fans want it.

Because it is 1/48 scale...not 28mm heroic sized.

While there are some people on this side of the world who buy some of the Robogear stuff for use in 40K and other games - most of it is still sold in former Soviet countries to younger kids to play with (one of the reasons why everything has a spring loaded something or other). The 1/48 scale actually puts them in line with Minifigs (the Lego people) which allows kids to graduate from the knock off legos to their toys in the 8-10 year old range.

One thing with the terrain offerings which they have is that the finish of the molds is very smooth which leads to the glossy toy look (the details are softer too...). Once you get a coat of paint on them, they look a lot better. A quick example can be seen here:

http://corblogme.blogspot.com/2012/09/toy-overload.html - Unpainted still on the sprue

http://corblogme.blogspot.com/2012/09/tehnolog-walls.html - Bit of textured paint and drybrushing

Especially when it comes to the "bonus" items that come with things like the cannons, figures, vehicles... It is a great deal. Buy a box of figures - get some free terrain. Buy a cannon - get some free terrain. Buy a tank - get some free terrain.

Agreed, the price on the cannon is insane. Not suitable for a hellcannon imo, since that needs to be "alive", but great for any other cannon.

I agree with your appreciation of Technog, but nothing about this is in scale with minifigs (LEGO minifigs are not really 1/48, or any scale for that matter) or indicative of a transition from LEGO to this.

More likely that Technog chose a scale deliberately different than others to keep folks in their games. Similar to how GW created their own interpretation/style of scale to differentiate themselves from other makers.

Those are pretty cool. And generic enough (in a good way) that they could work in several different armies or games.

Not sure how new these are, but TTfix lists them as such

Orc/Ogres and werewolves. Slightly larger than gw ogres so they could be useful for 28mm or so games (though they might not fit 40mm bases)

Most folks don't use links for these because sometimes the Russian seller also has some other products that might be a bit shady.

Ebay searches for "Tehnolog" should get you to these figs fairly quickly.

A new fortress "Ironhard keep" set is available also.
Spoiler:

Pretty darn big for only 20 bucks

"Astrogladiator" mech also.

Spoilers are hiding BIG pics

That fortress is actually pretty good. Goes together much better than the last one, without all the gaps.

Russian toy manufacturers have mastered the complex multi part leg technology that has befuddled Defiance Games.

Agreed, the price on the cannon is insane. Not suitable for a hellcannon imo, since that needs to be "alive", but great for any other cannon.

Just to update this, I bought 3 cannons through their website (not ebay) and received them just fine! Very impressed with their stuff, at an incredibly low price to boot...

If multi-part leg technology was the only thing beffudling them... I could live with it.

Shipping takes 4-6 weeks, but it was pretty cheap. I got some scenery, some fliers and some cannon as well as some 15mm KV-1 tanks. I'll be picking up the orcs, centaurs, some more scenery and perhaps some more Zvesda tanks from them in a few weeks.

I wish their stuff was easier to get. Like, walk into the local hobby shop and grab a box or two easy. I loves me some armored werewolves, but I don't want to have to pay international shipping for them.

The shipping rates are actually pretty reasonable, I've never had a problem getting a nice package rate when buying multiple items. Usually I was buying 2 or more mechs. The stuff always seemed to arrive in arouind 2-3 weeks for me.

If you bought them at your FLGS, the final price would probably be as much as it is to buy them online WITH shipping... or pretty close.

When you get the Centaurs, could you take some scale shots? Interested to see if they'd be good as cheap Dragon Ogre proxies.

Cheers!

Whoa... I feel like I could use those as chaos dwarf bull centaurs. Sweet!

As for international shipping- I only paid $5-$6 for shipping of the flat catapult and cannon sprues (3 each, in 2 separate orders, $5-$6 both times).

Edit: Ordered 5 sets of 4 centaurs ($10 per set)... $5 shipping for the first, +$1 for each of the next sets, so a total of $9 shipping.

Will take pics when I get them

Very impressed. Hard not to want to buy any at this time.

I wonder what's going on with the game they make called "Z.O.D." Found it on Ebay, and looks like a neat little mecha game- though i doubt that converting the rules from Russian would be anything even approaching fun! Might be interesting cheap fodder for home-grown rules, though. The mechs look to be on 25mm bases.

EDIT

Hmmm well I THINK I found it but it comes with a set of figures, that also look too big for 40k

and this ebay seller (Russian) had lots of them (sold out) but worth asking if they're expecting a restock, at least you'd have ebay protection

Just curious if anyone has asked at Pegasus if they plan on carrying any of these newer sets, especially the scorched earth stuff.

If nobody else has I can ask upon my return to the states. Pegasus is about a fifteen minute drive or so from home.

Actually, I have spoken with them about it. Probably back around November-ish maybe? At the time I was looking for the Robogear T-rex and asked them if they had any. They told me that Imex is actually the company that was importing them and that apparently Imex axed the brand due to not bringing in enough sales. The stock Pegasus had was all they were going to get and when it is gone, it'll be gone.

The Robogear stock, but I would assume that it applies to all of the Imex branded Tehnolog stuff. Quite certain it does not apply to the actual Pegasus branded goods though.

Brookhurst Hobbies, another importer, said the same thing about their stock. They blew it all out at crazy discounts.

It's sad, if it had gotten into Toys are Us, it might have done better.

Yeah, I see what you mean, the panels are pretty thin and the buildings turn out pretty boxy if used that way. But I've got the same issues with the CoD buildings, too. I've found those work best if integrated into foamcard buildings for detailing purposes - and the robogear sets could be used for that as well...
