A lot of sites have this format where I click on a thumbnail to go to detail page, then have to click again to get a larger image. If the large image was there from the start I'd be a lot happier.
And the categories have figures in 3 different places, for metal, resin and sets. generally as a shopper I'm looking for figures, the material is just a detail.
Anyway some random thoughts, let me see how the dollar is doing against the pound, I have to order one of these days.

Yeah but on some level better navigation will bring more sales. I mean if this site supported by members and ads can have full sized photos in the gallery...

I already do a load of wheels and tracks. These ones are my most steamunk looking:
Im always happy to substitute parts out on models, like sending one set of wheels instead of another. I cast all the orders as they are made, so its simple for me to cast "wheels 1" instead of "wheels 2". Just let me know when ordering!

Since your latest product and topic is what brought me here, and I had to do some searching to find the pics/info I was looking for...Can I make a suggestion? Either edit your first post and add the pics there whenever you post a new product, or post links to the other pages that the post with the pics are on. Sure, it's no problem now that the thread is only 2 pages long. Wait until it's 15-25 pages and someone misses out on 5-10 of your products because of the sheer size of the post.

These have recently been some changes on the Ramshackle Games web store. I incorporated the postal prices into the total price to customers. This has been great for many customers outside Europe putting the final price they pay down. However, I have had to include postage prices on single figures into their final price, which makes them a lot more expansive than I want them to be. To get around this problem, I'm now offering two "Mix and Match" promotion sets. Customers can pick either 5 or 10 figure sets. They can then choose any 10 of the resin figures and get them all for £18, or 5 for £10, shipping included! I think this is a great offer and allows customers to get the figures at a very competitive price. This I hope reflects the aims of Ramshackle Games, to be able to supply fun characterful models that don't cost the earth!

The top and bottom are the same model with a different 'top turret'.

Post by: Hulksmash
Actually they're flipped. Basically depending on the side you choose for the top determines what you can mount on it. Or at least that's how I understood it.
That said I think they look cool and am likely to pick a few up for my Iron Warrior counts-as army. I also really like the kopta once I remove the infantry it comes with and remove some of the ork symbols.

Yes, the body section is reversible. As for scale, there are some photos on the shop entry page with a ruler in them. The leg span is about 6cm, so they are kind of medium sized.

Hi Curtis, i really like your drone walker but was wondering would there be any value in having legs splayed flat for it? When i first saw it i had hoped that the legs would have been fully articulated so i could build a certain weapons platform that was 'at rest' in a stable firing position rather than clanking about the place; any thoughts? Even if you released one leg separately that was able to be articulated i'd buy 4 and the drone body too!
Also loving that Vole tank too, keep up the great work!
5439
Post by: Ramshackle_Curtis
I built the legs in pieces, and made moulds, but they turned out to be really weak, so I had to modify the thigh section. Therefore the legs only exist as they are, sorry. If you make an order I would be happy to include 4 of the development legs free so you wan have a go at them yourself, but they need a bit of filing to get them to work properly.
On an entirely different note, I have a new model in the store.
. It was mastered by Chris Ulman. Great little out house, nice textures I think.

All of the rewards have been sent out for the Ramshackle Games kickstarter project to raise the capital to print The Tome of Tridlins, an expansion for Nuclear Renaissance.
One of the reward levels was to have a model sculpted by Ramshackle Games sculptor Curtis Fell. Two models have been made, Elizabeth Chopsmoor and Oed Zein, riding Thundor, the mighty bull Dunger. Chopsmoor was designed by Fred Quintanilla, while Oed Zein was designed by Rick Grubel. THanks to both of them for great ideas! Both figures are up in the shop now, along with an unmounted version of the large Dunger.

Yeah I'm working on painting the big box of them I already have, I was thinking more /little/ shredder-swarm ones that are adorable, but the small family ones are great too
Putting a tape measure next to one of the big ones really doesn't do it justice with how hilarious of a deal they are.

I just want to say a big thank you for the main difference between this Kickstarter and the last one. I don't have to dig through your catalogue and figure out which miniatures I want. I can just get a pre-selected bundle (in this case 10s of the new infantry). The last Kickstarter should have had something like Rulebook + Expansion + Starter Force with an add on for a second starter force. And not one where I have to figure out what would make a good starting force knowing very little about your game. Put perhaps a choice of three or four faction sets *you* have picked. Perhaps you may want to add a pledge level for a rules PDF for using this with your game -- or offer a free PDF as a bonus. You also might want to consider making an opposing force from your existing catalogue and offering that as an add-on. Definitely NOT "please go through my catalogue and pick miniatures" but an actual thought out selection of figures that would give a good game. I did not participate in your last Kickstarter because with the expansion unseen, I couldn't make an informed decision about what miniatures to choose. I have since taken the time to order some figures and I love them, but it was totally a missed opportunity last time.

Cool starter. Was that as an option in the last kickstarter? And what about a single player starter so if people wanted particular factions, they could pick two they liked?
This Kickstarter is *so* much better than the last one in that it has a definitive focus, but you're still missing out on leveraging your existing product base.
You are very, very likely going to hit the 1500 stretch goal very soon and it'll be time for an update. So why not also take the opportunity to add a few more add-ons based on your existing product line? Like make a squad of 10 Cyborg Clan (or whatever) for £18 just like your "pick 10" deal but *without* asking your backers to design the squad themselves. You already have a promotional Trixie, so what about offering that as an add-on for £4 or so? Perhaps there are a variety of other single figures that would make great add ons at £3 a piece and would fit thematically with the Brothers of Iron.
How will the Brothers of Iron compare in size to the Trooper Fire Support squad? They might be another great candidate for add-ons from your current product line.
You also don't have to discount any further than your current "pick 10" and "pick 5" promotions. They are a great deal.

I also am a little concerned about cast quality. I bought 15 of the drilling machinel models from Ramshackle, and while they suit my purposes just fine, the cast quality and resin used is about the worst I've encountered.
Could you comment on that, Curtis? The tank model shown is so clean and crisp, that I feel like it must be a master, not a normal cast. Is that correct, and if so, will a normal cast maintain the same crisp detail?
If it will... I think you need to do the same for your drilling machines one day

The moulds wear out after use. Its a financial question as to when I replace then. Im really sorry if you got some duff casts. I will make sure that all the kickstarter pledge rewards are as good as I can make them. The income from the project looks set to balance out the costs of keeping the moulds in good condition.
As for the resin, I use polyester, which is not as durable as polyurethane. However, the price of it is the main reason I can offer full vehicles for £16 including shipping, and figures for 80p each, again including shipping.

Scrub- I'll take some pics this weekend.
Curtis- That makes sense, of course! Just wondering about the quality since those pics look so good and don't quite match what I have. Could you also clarify if what is pictured is a "master" or an actual cast that would be sold/shipped?
For the record, I really like the drilling machines and they work great for my purposes. Some also was likely damage in shipment as the material is quite brittle. But I will take pics just so that people have context of what I am talking about.
For the price, I am still very happy with them; they were a great deal

Curtis - I'm curious, after this KS ships, will you start making more "clean" tanks like this one? Most of the vehicles currently in the shop, especially the military ones are rusted hulks. I'd like to see some more clean alternative military hardware like this thing in the future.
9594
Post by: RiTides
That's a great question... my earlier impression had been that hulks / damaged vehicles are easier to cast in the material, since they do not have to be as "sharp". That was also my reason for asking the above.
But if the new tanks will come out like the model shown on kickstarter and the last page... then great

Polyester resin isn't what people normally expect, but I find you can't tell once you get the miniature/model primed.
It does explain Curtis' reluctance to go for revenue in a Kickstarter though, as hand rotational polyester resin casting is a slow process and there's only so many hours in a day.

A! All the battle damage and scuzzy surfaces took ages of cutting, filing and processing the plasticard to get it to look like that! Making stuff smooth and clean edged is MUCH easier! I intend to release at least 2 or 3 more vehicles in the same style as this one. A tank, some bikes and maybe a gun-ship. However, they are along way down the piepeline, so dont get too excited! Its going to take at least a couple of months casting to get all the pledges generated already cast, packed and sent.
The pictures of the model are casts, as they will be shipped. You can even spot some minor bubbles! I promised to put up some images of the masters and will take some photos over the weekend.

Touche'.
Im liking the tank, finding good chimera stand ins is hard.
My only sore point is the hugeness of the brush guard. I'm not personally digging it. Any chance you have a dozer blade styled front end ? A gee dub Vindicator style dozer would set the whole thing off.
Regardless, I like it, excited about getting a couple either by KS or the store.

A tank, huh? I might be down for that. At least, I will be if it isn't a box with tracks and a gun like a certain other company's tanks. I've been looking for a more high-tech, lower profile replacement for the Predator. I can't wait to see what you've got in mind. And I'm VERY curious what your gunship will look like.

As for extras, this project is already going to take alot of work, so I cant add too much more. I was thinking of offering an alternative back section for the Rhebok thats is a fuel/chemical tank, so you can make it into a flame tank.
That Tank looks great. Just the thing for a squat player who wants a tank that looks a bit rhino'ish, but can be run as Chimera in a Squat-as- IG list. If I didn't already have a few RT rhinos I'd be all over this.

I've painted Ramshackle's resin figures, but I have never converted any. Does anyone know how hard it would be to remove that door hinge from the side of the tank and putty in the door cracks? Then sand it all smooth?
Basically I want one of these vehicles with no side doors. Side doors on an armoured vehicle are a horrible idea and while I get that GW has influenced the aesthetic of the wargaming sci-fi APC with their rhino design, I don't want them on my Rheboks.
(I also get that having the side door makes this product more appealing to 40k players who are interested in rhino alternatives)

It's not terribly hard, but you'd be well advised to use something like Squadron Contour putty (what model airplaine makers use) or a similar easy sanding filer. You don't want to use something that is going to sand too much slower than resin or you'll get too much obvious wear on either side of the filler.

What size is the model? - How does it compare physically to a Chimera and a Rhino?
Are the side doors part of the mould, or could something like a Predator sponson slot in there? Similar question with the top hatches - part of the cast or separate piece?

Unfortunately the shipping of £3 is per model. £19 out to the US or Australia is still a good deal I think.
As for sizes, the models is about 4.5" long, 4" wide and 2.5" tall.

So these are resin casts of the figures. The one standing up straight measures 29 mm to the top of the crest on his helmet, so they are true 28mm figures. The models are shown with the "Iron Brother" heads.
Please note that the image contains a scale shot with a Games Workshop Cadian Imperial Guard. This image is for scale purpose only and is used without authorisation from Games Workshop Ltd.
The models come as three parts: body, head and gun with hands attached.
The penultimate row shows the Weapons Specialists, left to right Plasma Blaster, Flame Thrower and Thermal Gun. It also shows an unfinished "work in production" image of the Squad Leader. He will have a choice of two guns.
Here are some images of the heavy weapons troopers. The carriage weapon is a resin cast but the soldiers are all still unfinished "work in production". They are shown with a selection of heads from the range.
The top row shows the version with integral gunner. The carriage guns come with all four barrels shown.
The bottom row shows the mortar and missile launcher options.
All the weapons will be supplied with a selection of 2 appropriate crew each.
Here are two images of the wheeled Rhebok. I will have a plough and hatch as turret alternative ready for the end of the project.

Post by: Herzlos
Does the Heavy Weapon add-on set (7) come with the weapon choices as well as the crew? That's a fantastic deal for £3!
5439
Post by: Ramshackle_Curtis
The weapon is a choice of carriage gun, missile launcher or morter. All come with 2 crew. The integral gunner counts as 1 of the crew, but there is the choice of gunner or no gunner.
So the choice for £3 boils down to
Missile launcher and 1 crew
Mortar and 2 crew
Gun carriage (no gunner) and 2 crew
Gun carriage (integral gunner) and 1 crew.

If you want apcs there will be options.
Wheeled or Tracked
Turret or Hatch
Plough or Bull Bars
Transport or Chem Tank
The hatch is pretty chunnky and will have an integral gun.
The Plough is pretty large!
The chem tank back is 2 tanks on a rear end section.
I will have them finished over the next few days, so before the project ends. I will obviously post pictures for pledgers to decide what they want. When I send out the survey at the end of the project you will be able to state your preference for parts.
115
Post by: Azazelx
So we would need to state the exact loadout? Will there be any multi-options provided in the kit?
I understand that Tracks or Wheels is pretty fundamental, but options for other pieces (partricularly turrets and weapons) is something many of us use with magnets and our existing plastic kits...

So if I wanted two APCs I would pledge 19 pounds and then add on 19 pounds after the initial donation or would I do a lump of 38 pounds?
Also, good to hear that I will be able to make some not-hellhounds out of these kits. I love the look of them!

I'm excited to see the options you have lined up.
Even with the glut of independent manufacturers nowadays, good transports/vehicles are still a rarity.
5439
Post by: Ramshackle_Curtis
So what would you expect to see in a 3 vehicle deal?
I was thinking of both the turret and the hatch included, and both of the front options included. Obviously 3 of each, one for each vehicle.
I also have an alternate, slightly longer back as well. I made it but the cast pushed the weight up too much to do it for the £16. However, sending 3 of them gives more leeway with weight restrictions and I could include the long section over the short.
I nearly finished the plough and hatch option today, I should have them finished by sataurday. I will post up pictures of those bits, plus the longer back part by then.

As much as it might be a logistical nightmare, working out a ' pick your parts' deal might encourage buyers. Something for instance that would allow you to swap parts you don't want for parts you do. Swap out the brushguards for extra turrets or hatches, for example.
9594
Post by: RiTides
Too complicated, imo :-/. Better to include all the right parts in the kit, and charge the right price, than to have to add and delete some from various kit orders.
Paid add-ons are another matter... but the base set needs to be standard for simplicity.

What I also love about this campaign, is that he viewed 8K pounds as above and beyond his expectations. He has a realistic process in place, and is going to work through pledges in the order received. It just seems to be very apparent what you're getting / how it is going to be made / etc.
A welcome change from the huge unknowns of many campaigns, especially once they become so large and start over-promising and under-delivering because they have to outsource everything, rather than do it in-house.

So.. I recceived my Rhebok (long version with the bulldozer) a few days ago and I must admit... wow!
There ARE bubbles, some warping and not all pieces allign perfectly. Especially the rivets were victims of bubbles on a couple of pieces. The bottoms of some parts HAVE to be grinded down a bit. But it took me not longer than ~two hours to get the model to the stage you can see on the pictures.
But! It's still a lovely model with LOADS of additional pieces. I think you get like 8 Weapons for the turret, 5 weapons for the sponson and a dozend or so pieces like cannisters and boxes.
I've only primed it white so you can see all the little detail.
The broken piece on the Bulldozer ... yeah, I dropped the model ;( The material is a bit brittle, so take good care of yours.

It's bye the way just a tiny bit bigger than your bogstandard rhino ^^ like 1cm here, 2 cm there. So using it as a proxy won't be a problem I'd say.

My Rheboks arrived yesterday. They are pretty wicked looking, and I can't wait to get them together to serve as Repressors for my Sisters of Ba- Adeptas Sororitas. I got five of them, however, so it'll be a while before they're ready to hit the table. Im going to be using the bullbars, they're just too cool to leave off.

Post by: pretre
My rheboks freshly unpacked from the kickstarter. Rhino for size comparison.
The brown-ish dozer blade is miscast a bit on the right side but I will probably battle damage it up. The rest looks awesome. Flash to clean but that's about par for the course.
I'm guessing I also need to wash prior to assembly and painting.
38157
Post by: RoninXiC
Yes, washing would be a good idea. I forgot to wash one of the side pieces and color has it's problems sticking on it.
But have fun chosing all the tiny little additional/optional pieces

Post by: pretre
Yeah, there is a butt-ton of bits in here. Did you pin them or just glue them? I'm imagining pinning would be helpful as they are pretty darn heavy.
38157
Post by: RoninXiC
I pinned the two hullparts and I have a feeling that this is mandatory.
The rest, no. They all have a good flat surface area to work with.
I guess you can/should magnetize the weapon options, but I was too lazy for that

Any news on when the rheboks will be available in the store?

Have you gotten any of yours together yet, pretre? Ronin's looks awesome but I have an aversion to pinning... only needing to do it for one part isn't bad, though.

I have not even started yet. I've been prepping for a tournament saturday with my SW and then my next project is to get my SOB up to date for the new book. They are on the list though.

Well, I have finished sending out all the Kickstarter rewards! Well, I still have a head set to do and there is one order outstanding that was lost in the post, so pretty much done! I took the photos of all the parts, but I still need to do the colour images. Then make all the shop entries for the part sand models. This should be some time next week, so they will be available then. I will post up on this thread when its all in the store.
In the mean time, I have made a new Goblinoid, called the Huge Goblin Berzerker. He is called huge because the model sis bout 27mm tall, so very large for a goblin.

After a great fun and highly successful Kickstarter campaign, I have just released some new models. Three Rhebok variants have gone up in the Ramshackle Games web store. These were all funded through the Iron Brothers Kickstarter campaign.
Link to a larger version of the above image
http://shop.ramshacklegames.co.uk/images/army_spread_large.jpg
The vehicles are a tracked or wheeled transport variant, plus a flame assault version. The models are cast in resin. As usual the parts can be obtained separately from the Tridlins section of the web store.
Also, there are unpainted photos of the model on the shop entries, but I posted them up here before so wont repeat myself.....

A quick question if I may.
Is it okay to convert these vehicles? I absolutely love the look of that flame tank and think it would make a fantastic looted wagon with a bit of work. Also, the abundance of extra parts on the site would be great to add to my Bitz Box.

Yeah, totally awesome. Im happy to swap out parts from the catalogue as well, so if you wanted an alternate turret or different plough then just let me know.
I would indeed love to see pictures!
As for whats coming, I will be doing a tank but its not going to be ready for a few months. Its mainly because I will be moving in February and I dont want to start a kickstarter that will take me 3 months to send out like the last one, only to have to delay for a month wile the move happens.
IN the mean time, I will be releasing some smaller sets, including some 20mm post apoc motor bikes. So a bit of a different thingy I know.....

I put the troops from me recent kickstarter up in the shop. The Iron Brothers soldiers can be had from 80p each.
80p EACH!
So yeah, check them out if you want some cheap resin fututre soldiers. Cant think what you would use them for though. If you but 10 they are £10 or 20 for £16. This includes the postage. They have separate heads which can be had as well. The models measure about 28 to 29 mm to the top of their heads, so fit firmly in the "28mm scale its not a scale its a size" camp.
I put up the black and white images before, and they can be seen again by visiting the shop link, so I wont repaste them here.

You should restart this thread in the N&R forum, as this one got shot down at kickstarter end.

Post by: Ramshackle_Curtis
I wondered why it got moved actually. I was using this thread as a news and releases thread, as asked by the admin, so when it got moved I simply assumed it was for some mysterious lord moderator reason. NEVER QUESTION THE BEARER OF THE HOLY MODSTICK! All hail the moderator!
So yeah, maybe it could get moved?

Post by: Kroothawk
You made this N&R thread your kickstarter thread. With the end of a kickstarter, threads are moved from N&R to the supposedly appropriate regular subforum (which for some unknown reason is Dakka Diskussions in your case, no idea why). That all other news are in this thread as well was not considered and is unfortunate. That's why I try to keep all kickstarter news separate from the N&R threads I start.
Starting a new thread (with a link to this one) might be the easiest solution.

I really like the look of these minis and the price is excellent. Do you have a scale shot of them next to any other companies figures for comparison by chance? I would really like to buy some of these guys for my Tyrant's Legion Astral Claws army and would like to see how they scale next to other "28mm" figures.

The best I can do is the image off my kickstarter campaign,
with the model next to an imperial guard. The base tab pushed the Iron Bro up a little, but they match the cadians for size almost exactly. Depanding on pose, they are 28 or 29 mm to the top of the head.

That size comparison pic will work perfectly, Thanks Curtis. Now I just need to figure out how many I need and which head option I like best before I place an order.

This is good to see. The style is a bit chunky (chunkier than Cadians!) but I can overlook that because of the price and because they'll look good next to other GW figs. The design is nice. I have to say that it's pretty cool to see companies like Khurasan and Ramshackle proving that good figs can come at good prices. I'm not particularly taken with the head designs, but they're not bad, and and since they're separate, I could always substitute something else. The options are pretty limitless.
Also, the separate arms are a nice touch. Wouldn't be too hard to substitute different weapons, but is there a chance that we'll be seeing different weapon arms in the future?

I like these I'm not sure if I need any more tanks though but I could certainly use a few turrets to swap onto my exising tanks.
When will these be likely to appear in the online store?
5439
Post by: Ramshackle_Curtis
Well, it depends on when I finish up the casting for the kickstarter. I will obviously fulfill all the rewards before I offer any of the parts for sale though my shop. If I get alot of requests for the turret I will add it to the rewards on the project.
The last Kickstarter took about 13 weeks to send out, plus the 2 weeks of the actual project, so I would estimate the same or less time for this one I guess.

Agree that the turret is too tall, it would suit a much larger tank hint hint As you have plenty of other great turrets in your store, any chance of you offering one or more of those an alternative for the KS?

Post by: MeanGreenStompa
I don't think the turret is too tall, it's that it isn't flush to the body and the raised 'neck' of it makes it look a bit off.
I also want to remind everyone of the KV2... that is all.

Re: KV2, it didn't feature the turret on such a large, raised turret ring though, the Ramshackle tank has got too much of a shot trap going on there.

Post by: PomWallaby
I think the large turret is fun. I get the impression these tanks are supposed to have more punch than intended. I.e "Nice tank, how big a gun can we mount on it?"
I'd also like to see a larger Ramshackle tank modelled which the turret looks designed for.
Personally I like the laz-cannon out of the current options. A tesla-coil would be cool though.

I dont know how the turret ended up so big! BUt yes, the shot trap on the ring will be addressed. I should make a bigger tank as well, but this will take a while!

Yeah, that's my take, too. Glad you'll be offering a lower fitting and/or are willing to swap out the turret for an existing one from your range (pics of them on the tank chassis would be really helpful in that regard).

I actually like the super oversized turret. I think it's cute, like the tanks in the Advance Wars line of video games. A friend of mine got a bunch of your miniatures late last year and we're just finishing up painting our respective Reaper bones dump and after that post apocalyptic in 28mm is what we're going to get into.

I've put a pledge in. First Ramshackle buy although I have been tempted previously. Nothing to do with Orks coming out soon at all!
Like others, I'm not a complete fan of the huge turret as it looks at present but there'll be plenty of opportunity to mix and match bits around with various projects.

RoninXiC wrote:So..
That looks brilliant. But I have to admit, if a model will take two hours of grinding and filing and fething and faffing about to get it assembled, I'm just never going to bother. Which is a huge shame, because like I said - it looks brilliant.
38157
Post by: RoninXiC
Two hours also because it's quite a massive models with LOADS of optional and additional pieces. It's also been primed. So you might remove another 15 minutes.
It's possible to clean, prep and build the Rhebok in an hour I'd say.
I still have not found the time to paint it though :(

I have some more images ot show of the bits Im doing. Some are for the stretch goals and some are based on feedback from backers and on forums.
Backers will be able to choose either the spaced armour or two sponsons on each model.
I also lowered the turret a bit with a new fitting.
There is a ballistic shield for the gunner on the Pug now too.
