Why is Hannibal Lecter a dwarf? That head throws off the entire model. A proper dwarf head would make it quite nice, especially a chaos dwarf head.
The big guy is pretty awesome.

Its seems like every time a I see a rackham related thing I see more incredible models that are now unavailable. How did they manage to go out of business damn them? I know somebody is putting out a few of the models at a ridiculous price, but its the more obscure rackham stuff, like the things this guy has on his blog, that I really miss.

I think their attempt at going to pre-painted plastics only killed them, the metals and resin kits were gorgeous in every way and the pre-painted stuff just couldn't compete.

AT-43 made them money hand over fist; dropping the Confrontation metal line and switching that to PPP killed it (it was a huge, huge failure, after investing about a half a million euro into the plastic Conf launch)

i like the big guy...

They got greedy and abandoned the audience that made them big, thinking all those people who bought metal display quality pieces to paint would just lap up prepainted plastics in volume.
I can't think of a bigger face palm than having 14 million euros a year coming in from metal boutique quality miniatures for a low model count game and thinking everyone would just love to stop painting and play a high model count game with prepaints.
It's entirely possible though that internal sales documents showed a coming decline in Confrontation metal sales, but if so, their attempts to avoid it ended up guaranteeing it.
As for this stuff, I like both models, but think the evil dwarf's weapons are just a bit too long. I think if they were shorter, the model would look more balanced. The tall guy is perfect though. And both are sculpted amazingly.

I ordered the big guy, Goliath, by contacting Stephane http://simonminiaturesculptor.blogspot.co.uk on Saturday, 3 November. Just received the figure today, Wednesday, 14 November. So a decent time-frame considering the order was at night Saturday and the shipping covered the distance from France to California. Model looks quite awesome and the details are clear. A very clean piece. My only regret is that I wont be able to start painting it for a couple of weeks. When I finish I will post a pic.

Doh. I forgot that I posted in this thread.
Yeah, I got both of my miniatures the day after I contacted Simon about it (of course!). I guess that the post office were being slow. I had excellent communication with Simon that reassured me that I'd be getting the stuff. Excellent customer service.
Anyway, what I can say about these badboys are that they are simply fantastic. The cast is great and would require minimum work to clean up. The details on these are wonderful. The dwarf is tiny but totally excellent. I will definately buy more of Simon's personal work.

I really like the look of Goliath, but I can't quite tell how big the miniature actually is. With a name like Goliath, I'd expect him to be big, but I haven't been able to find a picture that gave me a confident estimate of the size.

The scale of my miniature is 35 mm at the eyes for standard human, Goliath is at 40 mm at the eyes. For an idea he have the same tall that limited edition apostate of darkness i made for Rackham but he is more bulky, you can see the photo below
i prepare some mini with different size, big monster too

I just got my minis today from Simon (the large dude with the axe and the chaos dwarf) and holy heck these are amazing. The details are some of the best I have yet to see and what really did the cake for me was he actually went back and resulpted parts on the models for me that were miscast etc, or had resin bubbles in. I have NEVER had a company do that and you know what that to me is some of the best service I have ever had so Cheers Simon you made a life long customer out of me.

Is there any chance of an alternate head for the dwarf model? I really like the rest of it but for it to blend in a bit more with a chaos dwarf army I'd need a different head (from the chin up, the beard is fantastic). Alternate weapons would be sweet but just an alternate head would make it an instant "buy" for me

Actually the price is fair hell beyond fair. The quality is better then studio McVey and they cost almost twice as much and are top notch. The price point is several dollars cheaper then gw finecastand the sculpts are far superior. Some people will always find reasons to not buy and to that its their loss because I own three of his models so far and can't get enough of them. Most of the top painters I know are buying them as they are amazing figs so keep up the good work simon!

I went ahead and ordered Goliath, Siegfried and Jezabel after seeing this thread, and they arrived here in Sweden today (just a couple days after the first email sent, so very happy with the speed of delivery on these). Am sitting here drooling over how gorgeous they are; such outstanding, crisp detail. They were a bit pricey of course, and the quality is way beyond my present painting abilities to be honest, but I think I'm just going to say the hell with it and paint them anyway.

I post the FANTASTIC paint of SIEGFRIED by Martin Grandbarbe soon!

Post by: Yodhrin
I should have said earlier(been away from hobbying for a while); I got my two Sinisters promptly, they're fantastic, and as a perfect example of why I like buying minis from talented individuals over corporations - there were two tiny imperfections on one of the miniatures, I noticed them immediately because Stephane had repaired them by hand with GS before he sent it out. Had he not bothered, I'd likely never have even spotted them, but that kind of attention to detail is top stuff.
I've actually just ordered a pair of Carrowek of Carn Dhu on-foot models from Mierce, one will be added to Goliath(email on the way) and a couple of Stephane's Rackham minis(if I can find them) to form the start of a Chaos Marauders Mordheim warband, the other I intend to convert into a Chaos Space Marine champion of Khorne - hopefully without subtracting too much from the original model's aesthetic with my amateur sculpting, heh.

Absolutely spectacular!
Cannot wait to see the others, I've been a big fan of what Stephane has done for Mierce, and this is on par with the best he has done for those.
Now I've just got to think of a use in a game to justify the purchase of all four!

Thanks to all of you!
The next Horsemen will be LORD WAR! i work on an Orc and his Gobelins too, a lot of work in parralell with my work for Mierce Miniatures!

Hi Guys!
I post photos of comparaison with Goliath because a lot of people ask me the size of Lord Death, he's at 70mm at the top of the horse's head, the lord is at 35mm.

I really need to get some cash together this looks amazing all though it fits with nothing I have but the mount alone is something I could use.
I wish someone would produce just dynamic posed mounts thats something I could throw cash at
Great work once again and like the pose of the rider, not just sitting atop of his horse but actually interacting with the it.

Hi Simon,
I've always loved your Rackham work, and I'm delighted that you're still sculpting. I have two questions, if you have a moment and don't mind a nosy fan.
1. How many hours of work go into a 35mm figure like Eldric?
2. Your work in the fantasy genre is beautiful, but I wanted to ask if you will be doing some sci-fi sculpts as well?
5182
Post by: SlaveToDorkness
Damn. I am aghast. Those are phenomenal. Too bad I don't play anything where I can use these. They'll definitely go in the 'Buy Just Paint" category though!
66825
Post by: Somon.s
For Elrickl, i don't know because for my range i sculpt on my free time and i don't count my time.
I prefer Heroic fantasy but if i find an idea which enjoy me i will make science fiction.

Received my order the other day - Jezabel/Sinister and Zaya/Marduk.
Fantastic pieces - beautiful detail, can't see anything that needs clean-up, and as was mentioned earlier in the thread, he had filled two tiny sections which I presume were air bubbles and re-sculpted.
Excellent service and I'll definitely be ordering Astarte and her partner when they're available. And probably some more pieces too

@Somon - Did you do one God slayer in green stuff and the other one in Fimo? If so, I'm just curious as to why? (Nothing at all wrong with it, of course, I'm just curious to understand your working process better.)
66825
Post by: Somon.s
Thanks guys!!
I only use Fimo for all my sculpt, I use Duro for the armature of the mini and for finitions! with the fimo i can change and modify the mini and after i 'm baking the miniature when i finish the sculpt!
73496
Post by: Talking Banana
Hi Simon,
Thanks for the answer. I think it was just the lighting in this image that made me think the one on the left was made of greenstuff.
Love your work, and still waiting for the day you do a mutant like these for sci-fi.

Yep the mini on the left is an resin exemplary of Goliath one of the first mini of my range!

The detail is incredible on that WIP, as always with your sculpts! Actually it's a little intimidating how much detail there is
Also love the pose so far!

Post by: dubovac
Truly inspiring work, you are probably one of my favorite sculptors out there.
I cant believe you use only fimo for sculpting. Tell me if it is not a secret offcourse what kind of fimo do you use, soft normal etc.
66825
Post by: Somon.s
Fimo is good for you! i use Duro on the wire of the armature of the mini and then i recover with Fimo, and i start the sculpt!I use Fimo "champagne" classic with Mix quick, an additif by fimo for smooth the fimo, You must have Mix quick.!!..no secret only works for a long time now!
45188
Post by: dubovac
Hmmm, interesting I havent heard for a Mix quick product (although its probably not available in my country). I ll have to search it on Ebay since price is much lower then green stuff or other equivalents.

Both are fantastic. It is a shame the dwarf have ridiculous claws. Could be fixed easily though. Automatically Appended Next Post: Freya and the Barbarian next to her are fantastic. So far Bragan the barbarian king is the most tempting; if he had a more classical helmet to go with the rest of him he'd be an instant buy for me.
As it is even though the sculpting is incredible the aestetic is a little too mish-mashed for my own taste- though I'm sure there's lots that adore the model as is.
