Also, first update! They've clearly been surprised by how popular this has been right off the bat, and have already unlocked tons of stretch goals . I can't copy all the formatting so if you are able to view it on KS click here:
Fast Update wrote:Thank you all for support. We did not realize that we will be able to reach goal and first streach goals so fast, but we are excited that you like our project and that there are so many dwarfs fans around.
We will post any pictures, concepts and WIPs of streach goal units as soon as possible. We dont have everything ready and waiting and we are open for suggestions, ideas and hints etc. so feel free to comment a lot and we will take everything in consideration.
Here is a class comparison. As you can see sizes are similar but gear goes from lightest on the right to heaviest on the left. There can be some inaccuracy due to 3d perspective but heads size can be a good reference - those are exactly the same size on every class.
Some additional info:
- Models will be cast in resin
- Main size of bases is 20x20mm but we will make some more sizes sets to choose from
- There was a small mistake in our Mountain Crushers streach goal info but all of our Metal Beards class have 3 meele gear options each with different name:
Anvilborn - Guards (shield + hand weapon), Berserkers (two hand weapons), Warriors (giant hammer)
Sentinels - Ironshields (shield + hand weapon), Slayers (two hand weapons), Hammerers (giant hammer)
Mountain Crushers -Veterans (shield + hand weapon), Grinders (two hand weapons), Ironfists (giant hammer)
Additionally there are 2 ranged classes for anvilborn - Crossbowman and Gunners.
Every class + gear has unique name. After campaing end all our backers will receive simple form that will help them spend their points. So for example if a backer would like to receive 30 of medium armoured meele models with hand weapon and shield he will need to choose 3 units of Sentinels "Ironshields" and it will be 1050pts from point pool.
Some Q&A:
Q: Are there any parts difference that we get between the anvilborns from support formation/close combat formation and the anvilborn units with the point?as the formation one seems to get all the anvilborn parts, so the 15 models can be build into 2/3 different units? A: Models from Close Combat Formation and Support Formation are normal Anvilborn units so we will ask what kind of weapons you choose. For support unit it will be Gunners or Crossbowman and for close combat unit it will be Berserkers, Warriors or Guards
Q: The units will only come with the single type of weapon correct? So the Anvilborn crossbow unit only comes with the crossbows correct? I am looking at these primarily for RP as guards to dwarf mines and such. Will these units be available later in smaller quantities then 10 per? Something along the lines of 5 models per? A: Correct. But we are quite flexible and if needed we will add option of 5-man units.
Q: Does the 300 and 350 points get you a unit of 10 miniatures or just 1 miniature from the 10? A: Those points get you unit of 10(+2 free as we reached streach goal) models.
Q: Any chance we could get an idea as to how many "points" those clever shadow outlines of the cannons are going to be? A: We will add soon simple table with units points costs that will include hidden units.
I have no use/ interest in actual dwarves, but dwarven armored machine men like these are pretty cool.
I'm a sucker for bulked out heavy armor units, so I'll probably end up in this for some of those Mountain Crushers. I'm sure I'll find a use for them.
Seems to be a fair bit of variety in what you'll be getting for your money as well- lighter units, support weapons, heroes... it'll be interesting to see just how far this goes.
Curious what those Steel Miners will be. Hopefully things with drills!
Yeah, I've seen that mentioned a few times- with just a little conversion work, squat lovers basically have a ready made army for them here . Not sure what codex would be most appropriate- I'm guessing the space marine one.
Also, a new stretch goal chart was posted as an update which is already out of date, as the 10K goal has been hit
Update #3 Dec 18, 2013
Big Update! Be sure to check it!
First of all - the additional points. We tried to keep it as small as possible! This way you can either add one or two sets for "one more hero", or you can buy few and add a unit or two!
And the second change - we added an option to buy a smaller, 5 - man units. Although, it come with a small drawback - you won't be getting the additionall models from Additional Models stretch goal.
Quite a big update really, as it gives us a way to add extra points onto existing pledge levels and also lets us see the kind of discounts that the existing pledge levels provide.
Just an incredible looking line of models. Love the creativity and the options here. I'll probably by in and grab some of those Ironshields to use as Infernal Ironsworn in my CD army.
Are there any pictures of the war machines yet? (sorry can't get to the website at work)
I'm having trouble understanding this stretch goal in light of the latest unit points table:
Is it just that if you select a unit of 5 models, you only get 1 free one added? And if you're selecting a unit of 10 models, you get 2 free? If someone has backed this and could ask this question (or answer it, if it has already been addressed) that'd be great
These guys are going to be working with my ForgeFathers in Deadzone.
Hopefully we'll get a big stompy guy I can use as an Iron Ancestor.
These guys may end up pulling some extra shift duty supporting House Teknes in Wrath of Kings too, what with all the steam powered armor and big smashy weapons.
I guess at some point there will be jetpack dwarves as well? Possible jump troops?
prankster wrote: Already addressed at the bottom of update 3, when the units of 5 were added. They don't get any extra models from the earlier stretch goal.
Ah, I missed that! Here's the relevant quote:
And the second change - we added an option to buy a smaller, 5 - man units. Although, it come with a small drawback - you won't be getting the additionall models from Additional Models stretch goal.
Makes perfect sense to me.
Highlord- the 15K stretch goal looks like an "evil metal beard" to me
I already signed up for these guys, as the initial dwarf designs are excellent. But really holding my breath for some cool Chaos dwarfiness. I love my reg dwarves, but a chaos dwarves with mechanical bulls would be just too awesome!
It'd be great to get the exact size of the models first, but these would be a great addition to any fantasy tabletop RPG model collection. You have your constructs with different weapons and thankfully some different poses.
I just wish you didn't have to get them in units of 10...

The idea behind Metal Beards - we need YOU!
First of all – big THANKS to all our supporters! We hit 12 000 pounds spot, and are halfway to 13 000, and it’s because of your support and spreading news! There is few things as satisfying as seeing your idea being supported and further developed by people “digging” your style! Again, thanks for that!
Alright, we would like to shed some light on our thoughts behind this project. What we learned from our previous two campaigns, is that our supporters and fans are a “fountain of ideas”. And we can see it already in this campaign. The amount of suggestions, thoughts and cool propositions you guys & gals presented is staggering! Just now we will incorporate in our campaign outright:
1. Spears and halberds weapon choices for Metal Beards.
2. Drills for the Steel Miners.
3. Chain beards.
Depending how the campaign goes, there are also Metal Beards on jetpacks, Metal Beards cavalry (both for regular and evil ones), and an evil Metal Beards golem and monstrous infantry unit. And that’s only like 2 full days of running this campaign! Usually, kickstarter campaigns tend to be somewhat limited – companies launching crowdfunding campaigns usually have their products already done, and are just showing them when the stretch goals are unlocked. We wanted to change this for this campaign. We not only wanted it to be crowdfunded in financial way, we also wanted it to be crowddiscussed, crowdthought, and crowddesigned. The drawback of such approach is of course the timeline, which would extend for a very long period if we would choose such way for whole campaign. To avoid it, we’ve made some preparations, and most of the Metal Beards line is already very advanced in the design process, so we can present them to you fairly quickly, while still incorporating the ideas you show us. However, the mysterious evil Metal Beards are in a very early stage of design process. This way, we can take your ideas and design the models to even better suit your needs!
What we ask from you is patience! We wish to give you the best products we can, we have the means to make them, we have the means to forge your ideas coupled with our vision into something so cool it will make you drool all over the table. So, keep thinking what you would like to see, keep us informed about your ideas and let us do the hard work!
Not "Number One" anymore, Alpharius, times they are a-changin'
From what I'd seen they were in the process of shipping their previous Kickstarter rewards, and have already successfully delivered on one. My bar has moved from "not starting a new KS until the old is completed" to "until the old is shipping".
You should've known this already as I backed AvP pretty heavily but they were only in the process of shipping Warzone

Lord Engineer Bolur is here!
Leaving his forge for a quick break, Lord Engineer Bolur is always thinking about new designs are ongoing projects! His pipe is a sign of how difficult the project is - simple ones are met with a few "puffs", while the difficult ones end up with Bolur creating a small cloud of smoke around him!
This is awesome....Gonna have to move some of my back log of mini's so I can go in big on this. I love the concept. And for WFB or KoW it'd make an amazing army with every unit being led by an dwarven engineer.
Complete dwarf army..... a request for patience: this is starting to sound vaguely familar. I wonder if they are planning a standard bearer.
Yes, as much as I want this because lets face it armored dwarfs done like this are cool, I won't be touching this until I see it in a store. I have enough to paint until that year arrives.
This company has already successfully delivered on a past KS campaign, and are currently delivering another, though. Only danger is if demand exceeds their ability to supply.
RiTides wrote: This company has already successfully delivered on a past KS campaign, and are currently delivering another, though. Only danger is if demand exceeds their ability to supply.
They also did an IndieGogo campaign, which I was a part of, to fund their undead orc line. While they did take a bit longer then anticipated to get everything out (who doesn't?) I received everything without a hitch.
I also have their Pirate Ogre lines which I ordered directly from them. The one time I did run into an issue they were quick to respond to emails and help me out. So I've had nothing but good dealings with this company over the past couple years.
Update #7

Possessed Metal Beards! And some important info!
Well now, how about that! We reached our final goal for first stage of our campaign in three (THREE) days. We would say it's pretty damn impressive! And that's all thanks to your support - not only here, on kickstarter, but also on various forums and blogs regarding tabletop gaming! Huge THANK YOU to you guys & gals out there!
But, back to bussiness! There is a slight change to the plan due to reaching our stretch goal! Our sculptor got a bit excited and finished two concept arts for the Possessed Metal Beards right away! Now, seeing how you were all fired up to see them, we decided to show them to you today, and the Mountain Crushers will have their moment of glory tommorow! How about that?
The rightly feared Possessed Metal Beards Warlock is an evil genious, in his own way! Creating wicked simulacra of their Metal Beards brothers, he proud himself in corrupting and defiling everything he touches! Wielding strange powers as his weapon, he is nigh unstoppable force of destruction!
Mighty Overlords of Possessed Metal Beards are a terrifying warriors. Mighty juggernaughts of death, deprived of feelings such as fear and compassion, they look only to stomp their enemies to the ground. They are often seen wearing strange masks - it is said they are holding the anger of the Overlord in check. Without them they enter a state of berserk, not recognising friend or foe, and slaying both of them withour remorse!
How do you like that little teaser of things to come? Be sure to leave your comments in the comment section!
Also, wsome of you asked for a little bigger add - on pledge for more points. We thought we should enable such option for you, and therefore:
YOU CAN NOW ADD 500 POINTS TO YOUR PLEDGE FOR THE COST OF 31 £!
Well, I pledged for the 31 pound level to get the two possessed characters. I think those, since they're less "metal", will be able to mix into my existing army
Hope they make a standard bearer arm for one of them.
I can't wait to see the two possessed units (one already unlocked with the first possessed hero). But I plan to just stick to the heroes, even though the units are a much better deal!
Never liked those WHFB-Squats (I guess the plastic troopers were the best ones). And every attempt to revive them. The engineer looks good, though. That's what squats should look like.
I thought Raging Heroes had put me off KS for good, but I think I'll get myself a wee prezzie for Christmas and go in for the £61 level. Now I just have to hope the evil versions aren't awesome as well or I might get myself into trouble.
Update #8: Possessed Metal Beards - the idea behind!
In the workshops of Mother of Mountains the work never ceases. Engineers are tightening the last Dread Cannon screws, and are polishing the armour plates of the Mountain Crushers. But, at the same time, deep in the bowels of the mountain, Possessed Metal Beards are designing their own vehicles of destruction, which will, very soon, stand against their brethren.
You’ve already seen Possessed Metal Beards heroes, but the main body of their army, as in their cousins force, is created by ranks upon ranks of mechanical Metal Beards units. Sławek is working on their design very hard but we managed to get few good looks on his drawings, to give you a hint of what you could expect from evil beards!
Possessed Metal Beards are fueled not by coal, or steam, but by energy of the crystals, they mine deep in the Mother of Mountain. But the power comes with a price – the mysterious crystals are slowly corrupting the engineers, making them mad and evil. Thus, instead of furnace and steam boiler, you can find locks with some gems, emanating some strange light. The fume vents, shaped in hexagon, are also a distinctive feature, making the Possessed Metal Beards easy recognizable.
Possessed Metal Beards are more reckless and they don’t know the meaning of patience – which reflects in their mechanisms. You’ll see that their constructions are less symmetric, the parts are screwed together more random, and instead of ornaments, and heraldry – spikes, horns and unholy runes.
Heroes of Possessed Metal Beards are also engineers, so you’ll find a wrench or hammers attached to their belts, or sticking out of their bags. But they are fascinated by blades, so each of them was converted to not only tighten a loosed bolt, but also to cleave some unfortunate dwarf in half! In the end, as some smart barbarian said: “You can never have too many knives”.
If you like what you see, and would like to see more like, share and post!
Update #9: Mountain Crushers!
Time to get serious. Heavy armour? Checked. Cool, badass weapons, each almost as big as a grown man? Checked. Classy, and stylish design, with dynamic pose? Checked.
Yup, the Mountain Crushers have arrived!
To give you a bit more insight of how we create the Metal Beards, we wanted to show you a list of parts - be sure to check them out!
Whos next? Well, Dread Cannon shape is looming on the horizon...
Can't help but wonder if those Mountain Crushers will even be able to fit still on a 20mm base like their brethren.
If they do, I can't help but wonder if there's still even bigger and badder tools of destruction they can get lumbering onto the battlefield (besides the golems that is).
Alright guys & gals! Time for some Dread Cannon showdown! Now, it's not a finished model yet. There are some parts that will be added, for example there will be a gunner seat placed next to the barrel itself. So the Dread Cannon will get some more attention, but it's ready to be shown and feel free to comment and share your opinion with us!
But to give you some more info we decided to add a little movie, so you can check out the gun from every angle! But, as always, we got some pictures of the famous artillery of the Metal Beards!
And some nice view from the back
How do you like it? Please, remember it's not finished yet, but should be ready in no time!
AN IMPORTANT NEWS! NEW CONTEST ANOUNCED!
Bearing in mind how great you all folks did when designing the names for the regular Metal Beards, we decided to give you the same opportunity for the Possessed Metal Beards! We need a name for three units of evil, badass, rock and rolling, packed with awesome, corrupted dwarves. A light armoured, medium armoured and heavy armoured unit. Can you handle this level of badassory and emerge victorious?
YOUR PRIZE WILL BE A HERO OF YOU CHOOSING ALONG WITH A 10-MAN UNIT PROUDLY DISPLAYING NAME OF YOUR DESIGN! You can post your answers on our facebook page, or in private messages (to keep it tidy!). Also, you can only come with one proposition for each unit - let's keep it fair - any posts or messages with more than one suggestion will not be rewarded! Also, whole Titan Forge crew would like to wish you a merry christmas and a happy New Year! Let this time be full of epic battles, glorious victories and lots (and we mean LOTS!) of beards! Tommorow we're taking a day free - we are going to devour all those dumplings that were prepared on this celebration!
ALL BEST FROM TITAN FORGE IN 2014!
Quite like the cannon, though it does look a little unstable and liable to tip over due to recoil when it fires.
Yeah, that could work. Also depends were the engineer's chair ends up as well.
On the topic of the contest, a correction was just posted in the comments section:
Creator Titan-Forge 6 minutes ago
IMPORTANT NEWS!
Too much christmas songs made me thinking too slow! Not 3 units, but three heroes, HEROES!
1. Mage
2. Standard Bearer
3. Lord
Those of you who already posted their propositions you can do it again!
I'm not keen on unhelmetted, normal dwarves. So, the regular guys and the possessed guys do absolutely nothing for me. Those robots though.. those I like! I wish I could back this one. These would be great for Forgefathers. I can't wait to see some drill equipped mining units. I wonder if they'll have jackhammer equipped ones as well?
Well, it seems we got too eager. Kickstarter rules prohibit organising contest via their platform, and we overlooked that. We always like the idea of contests, which makes people creative and supportive, but in the more feedback - opinion way, not financial one.
However, rules are rules, and we have to ask the kickstarter support for permission.
You can still send us your propositions, and we will certainly use them for the heroes we mentioned, but if we can reward you for your creativity depends on the answer we get from kickstarter support.
Again, sorry for the chaos, we wanted to show you something cool right before christmas, and we did it in a hurry to get everything done. And thus, overlooking some important stuff.
We will post the news regarding kickstarter answer to our question as soon as we get it!
Update #12 Possessed Metal Beards Standard Bearer Dec 26, 2013
Hi there! Time for some update!
Despite having soome time free from work we managed to do some concept art of the Standard Bearer hero for the evil Metal Beards:
The Possessed Standard Bearer will come with a few choices of equipment. The one you can see above comes with a hand weapon and a shield, but we also plan to give him a two - handed weapon. Also, you can see a gas mask on his face - we also think about making that an option, like for a Possessed Overlord.
Sławek is currently working very hard on more concept arts - they should appear soon!
We also hope you have a great christmas, with lots of food and cool presents! We sure have lots of food...
Well, the christmas are behind us. Let us mourn all the food that was eaten during those days (as well as all those diets that failed uterly when faced with this delicious snacks!). But, we can now put it aside and focus on the job at hand - spawning more and more Metal Beards and their corrupted brethren. Few last updates were more Possessed focused, so now some glorious Metal Beards!
Steel Miners are a rare sight on the battlefield. Metal Beards, as all dwarves, are well known for their expertise in mining. Also, their society is divided in numerous clans: miners, jewelers, warmiths etc. Most of the clans, when the need occurs, are able to deploy a unit or two. Steel Miners are joining the force of Metal Beards only on most dire need - they are needed to ever expanding the dominion of Metal Beards. However, when they join the fight - it is like the Mother of Mountains express her rage and anger! Earth erupts in great explosions, the ground shakes and tears apart.
Sławek took a little break from drawing Possessed Metal Beards and finished those heads of Steel Miners. Being clearly "in theme" with the rest of the models, are easy to distinguish, just by the look of their armoured heads!
Hi there guys & gals! Christmas holidays are behind us, and most of us got back to office. Currently we still feel a bit overfed, but we’re ready to rumble! So, without further ado, let’s talk about some work we’ve done through last few days!
Possessed Metal Beards are taking some shape right now. One of the most important piece of the new models are their helmets. Simple, yet clearly “corrupted”, they visibly distinguish the Possessed Metal Beards from their rightful counterparts. Also, you can check the much desired “chain beards” – that’s a tribute to our backers and supporters – thanks folks! That said, the corrupted “feel” of this models is very strong with only helmets done. Now imagine the rest of the model – spiked shoulder pads, maybe some chainmail, skulls and crystals etc. Hope you like it guys! Be sure to leave a comment either here or in comments section!
As you can see, with unlocking 15 000 pounds pledge we now focus on Possessed Metal Beards (a WIP name for them is Sons of Kashan Vra – what do you think? Badass enough?). However, we have some good news for regular dwarves fans – but you will have to wait until tomorrow to know what it is! Ha, that’s how evil we are. Maybe the corruption of the Sons of Kashan Vra is slowly taking us also? But, cry no more! We also have an almost finished render of Dread Cannon! As you can see, it comes with a gun platform, on which the gun itself is mounted. You can also see the seat for the Dread Cannon operator! We love the look of the gun – like an WWII anti - aircraft gun!
As always, thanks for support guys! We’re on our way to 18 000 pound, and with unlocking another stretch goal, we can only do better!
Be sure to leave a comment – the chain beards are here, so maybe YOUR idea will also be incorporated in this project!
I really like the "chain beard" look, although am sticking to my guns and just planning to get the 3 possessed characters at the moment (or Sons of Kashan Vra!).
My guess on the stretch goals are as follows:
-£20K, Kashan Vra lord, 1 Kashan Vra warmachine
-£22.5K, 2 Kashan Vra warmachines
-£25K, Kashan Vra Golem, Standard Golem (Maw of the Mountain?)
-£30K, Zeppelin
So highlord, my theory is that Maw of the Mountain is actually the standard dwarf golem... but maybe that's wrong. I can't believe they won't release both Kashan Vra (possessed) and standard golems, though- folks of both stripes seem to want them
Wooo hooo guys & gals! Are you ready to party? Year 2013 was quite good for us, but it seems that 2014 will be even better!
In this update we wanted to talk about some of our plans for this campaign. We entered a steady phase of the kickstarter campaigns when the stretch goals become unlocked in a matter of days instead of hours, but this is pretty normal for crowdfunding projects, and in truth, give us some breath and some space. We designed this campaign as a two stage project - first stage was the development of Metal Beards range, and on reaching the 15 000 pounds stretch goal, we began the second phase - creating Sons of Kashan Vra. However, this doesn't mean, the regular Metal Beards will only have those units which are already unlocked, no. Some of you folks provide us with cool ideas we could use to make some really nice models for the dwarves, and right now, we decided to add two more unit choices to the Metal Beards:
a) 5 Metal Beards with Jet Packs
b) 5 Metal Beards gone berserk, with mohawk heads and dynamic poses.
We are now deciding whether it's better to do a upgrade set, or an new whole unit. But both of them will be done apart from stretch goals and added to the order form with proper points cost.
This was your idea guys! Dwarves on Jet Packs were suggestes both here as on our Facebook profile, and the "Berserk Beards" were suggested in our comments section. We are very happy how this campaign is rolling, that's exactly what we had in mind when we launched it. Seeing, that you provide us with such cool ideas, sometimes very creative ones, is a confirmation of our concept for this campaign!
Those two small units needs names, and as soon as we will find proper ones we will list them in upgraded points cost list!
Also, as you can see, some of the stretch goals were updated tomorrow, but in case you missed it we also place it here!
So, have a great party folks! Don't get too drunk, but don't hold back also!
As always, if you want to comment or add you opinion - go for it!
Well, what can we say. Those minis are badass. Quality is very nice, details are very nice, design is very nice. And they will propably look even better! So this is pretty big step for us. From the 3D renders, to fully casted miniatures. And they look very cool. See yourselfs:
How's that! Pretty nifty eh? But that's only lord, wait until you see whole unit!
Alright alright! Stop drooling! We know! They are pretty cool. Now, on thursday (tommorow in fact) we will send some of the miniatures for some blogs and vlogs for review, so you will be able to get even better insight of what you will be receiving! As always, leave a comment - we are very gratefull for all the feedback you guys & gals were giving those past few days!
Honestly, I'm currently selling some of my stuff since I want an entire army of these buggers. The $400 pledge option is pretty solid for the majority of an army and is about what I would pay for a GW army (maybe less) at discount. And it'll look hella more characterful
Update #17: Moar pictures and some info about Sons of Kashan Vra warmachines
Hi!
Time for another update! We will take a closer look on some of the first casts we shown you yesterday. Some of you asked if we can show some of the models separately, so they could see closer and check the details. No problem guys & gals! So take a seat and take a closer lok on those gorgeous models!
So that's Anvilborn. Hope you like the little close - ups we did for you. Also, since some of you people asked, all our miniatures will come with scenic bases designed just for them. The ones you can see on the pictures above are only for visual purposes, and doesn't represent the final ones. We will post some pictures of the bases for the Metal Beards soon, so stay tuned.
Spoiler:
Also, for the Sons of Kashan Vra fans. Here's some insight for the lore of the warmachines.
World Trembler is rightly feared engine of doom. Massive gun is forged in the deapest caverns of Mother of the Mountain, and after a series of corrupted blessings and rituals it's mounted on a specially engineered carriage. Each projectile for World Trembler is infused with the power of the mysterious crystals used by Sons of Kashan Vra for various purposes. The ancient power hidden in glowing gems provides World Trembler with enormous firepower. Lobbing shell after shell high into the air, it provides long range ordnance for armies of the possessed dwarves. When the shells hit the ground, everything around explodes in a shower of debris and mangled parts of their enemies. It seems even the whole world shudder in terror and tremble - hence the name.
Life Shredder is a more classic weapon of war. Giant rocket thrower, whose power of steam is greatly augumented by the magical power of the corrupted crystals, provide this machine with unique and singular hitting power. It is said, that the rocket can skewer anything it hits - flesh, bone or hardened steel - nothing can withstand it's impact. It's is even said, that whole ranks of troops were obliterated with single missile, leaving a bloody trail through whole unit. When the Life Shredder fires, no cover can save you.
Incinerator is propably the most feared of all Sons of Kashan Vra warmachines. While the World Trembler fire long, arced shots, and rely on the ammo to do the killing, the Incinerator is much more finesse weapon. Deep in the Mother of Mountains lies great Furnaces of the corrupted dwarves - fueled by endless supply of lava, it melts through all known materials. However, the Sons of Kashan Vra are caring not for the limitations of other. Using the magical power from crystals they found the way to launch the lava into the ranks of their opponents. The resulting conflagration is a terrible sight. Screams of victims burned alive as well as scarred earth are a testimony to great power of Incinerator.
Maw of the Mountain is the most sophisticated of the warmachines used by corrupted dwarves. Not only it requires very long preparations, a lot of materials, but also requires carefull attention - if anything goes wrong, the consequences might be terrible. Cause the Maw of the Mountain is a warmachine imbued with the power of the mysterious crystals themselves. The World Trembler was a prototype warmachine, a test subject if you will. The Maw of the Mountain was a result of field tests of the latter. Much mystery shrouds the Maw, but all reports are filled with one terrifying detail - it seems that the Maw of the Mountain can operate on it's own, as it had it's own will. Is it the power of the crystal, or is it even darker secrets only time can tell. But one is certain, When the Maw devours, nothing can stop it.
As always - be sure to leave comments and feedback!
My count as translation:
World Trembler = Earth Shaker Cannon
Life Shredder = Rocket Launcher or "Death Shrieker Rocket"
Incinerator = Magma Cannon
Maw of the Mountain = Hell Cannon
I don't do kickstarters because of a number of reasons, but I really would love to buy these because I have a D&D campaign that is going to spend several levels in a SteamPunkDwarf mega dungeon.
Will these models ever be available as general purchase? Or is this one of those deals where, if you don't join the kickstarter, you wont ever get to buy any of the models?
This will definitely hit retail- but Titan Forge is quite expensive via their website. Definitely, definitely the best deal to pledge for it during the campaign, if you're able to pay for something in advance like this.
They've delivered on a few other campaigns already so it's a pretty safe bet, imo... at least, as far as these things go
Yeah, when I can get a custom all resin army with custom bases for less than a GW army after standard discount I think it's best to kickstart on this one. Especially considering the cost of the models at retail on their site.
Update #18: Sons of Kashan Vra - first look at 3D renders.
Hi there folks! Time for corrupting!
This time we decided to show you some first, still WIP stage, 3D renders of infamous Sons of Kashan Vra. No time to talk, check the pictures below!
As you can see, corruption takes deep root in Sons of Kashan Vra. Although there is a visible similarity to the Metal Beards, the horns, the deamonic faces, skulls and last but not least - the terrifying masks. Also, where the Metal Beards use the round, classic shields, the Sons of Kashan Vra are known for proudly displaying their gruesome trophies on their guards. Corrupted shields are often forged into shapes of the demonic jaws, and are even known to cackle maniacally on occasions. The other distinction is the usage of weapons. Metal Beards prefer simple and "regal" dwarf weapon - axe, maul and hammer. Sons of Kashan Vra are much more individual - scythes, flails, morgernsterns and so on. The more deadly the better. Which in fact, reflects a motto of Sons of Kashan Vra. How do you like the first approach to corrupted brethrens of Mother of the Mountain?
Yesterday you could check the very first 3D renders of Sons of Kashan Vra - it seemed they were met with much enthusiasm and cheering, which made us believe the corruption runs deeper than we thought! The Sons of Kashan Vra are gathering their followers and soon enough, they will break from their caves like lava firestorm of beards and foulness!
As you can see, there is one more detail that set Sons of Kashan Vra apart from their brethren - the crystals. The crystals were mentioned numerous times right now, and are one of the most important feature of the corrupted ones. Just check the movies above! The Metal Beards are powered by steam - most of their body is in fact a furnace, a boiler, etc - while the Sons of Kashan Vra are powered by the mysterious forces locked in the crystals! Just compare the belly of a Metal Beard and a Son of Kashan Vra - the differences are to big to miss (ha, pun intended!).
As always, be sure to leave a comment and tell us what you think!
Well well well, the long awaited Steel Miners are here! When we unlocked the stretch goal and reveal that Steel Miners will be done, a lot of you guys & gals asked if they would have drills for weapons. Now, first brainstorm we had resulted in epic "drillness" and we decided to keep this theme for whole unit! No mattocks, no pickaxes, only drills. And let's face it, the bigger drill, the better!
As you can see, the drills are pretty massive. We found out that mattocks and pickaxes, while being "iconic" weapons of dwarfen miners, are a bit plain, when compared to steam drills. We thought it would be cool, to give the miners a two handed drills as their only weapon, but a impressive one! And seeing how the 3D renders work out, we think it was a very cool idea - Steel Miners, while still being clearly recognisable as a dwarf miner unit, are having a unique flavour and a strong theme, that keeps them together as a unit.
I really like these, as I always have liked dwarves. I just can not figure out what to do with them. Perhaps some twisted chaos dwarves or dare I say "squats".
A lot of people asked how can they add some more points to their pledges. We decided to put a small update regarding only this issue.
The 50 points for 4£ can be chosen multiple times (100 points for 8£, 200 points for 16£ etc.). Also, if you like to add even more points to your pledge you can choose multiple pledges and sum up the costs, for example:
Q: I need 7050 points, how can I get them?
A: You choose the 4700 points pledge, the 2300 points pledge and 50 points add - on and sum up the cost = 245£ + 123£ + 4£ totaling 372£. Then you pledge for the chosen amount selecting the highest pledge as your "pledge selection".
Stay tuned, as there are rumors that some Sons of Kashan Vra will show their corrupted faces today.
Update #22: Avatars and forum banners!
Hi folks!
We prepared an avatar and banner you could use to spice up your profiles and proudly display you're a supporter of Metal Beards! Check them out:
So download the avatar and banner and wear them with pride! You could also grow a beard to make it even more badass. It's an option. Beards are cool.
Update #23: Sons of Kashan Vra Dread Reapers are ready to charge!
Hi there!
A little delayed, the fearsome Dread Reapers finally arrived! Their weapon of choice is a massive, two - handed scythe. Those corrupted blades, known as "Reapers" (hence the name), are almost unstoppable. They can effotlessly cleave in half fully armoured opponent in a blink of an eye. But even the best blade can do nothing without it's master. And Dread Reapers are real virtuosos of their craft. Skilled both on the offensive as on the defensive, they are a terrifying opponents to face. They march, ever forward, their "Reapers" striking rapidly and without pause. After the battle, you can easily track where the Dread Reapers charged - bodies cleaved in half, limbs cut off, and a stench of death - those marks can't be confused with anything else.
As you can see, they indeed look like dread incarnate! To tell you the truth, one of our favourite piece of the Sons of the Kashan Vra are their chain beards. Beards are cool. But chain beards - that's new level of cool. And it's great that this idea was proposed by you our backers and supporters! That's the crowdfunding at it's finest!
With the Dread Reapers revealed, we would like to inform you about our plans and decisions for incoming units and add - ons.
1. There will be upgrade set including different weapons choices in form of an Add - on. The point cost is still being discussed, but the quantity will propably 10 pieces per upgrade set.
2. Elite infrantry models (40 mm square bases) will be available for both Metal Beards and Sons of Kashan Vra ranges. The models will be quite different, so we decided to give each range a proper unit instead of one kit for both ranges. We can already give you a little spoiler - the Metal Beards elite infrantry suit will wield a massive drill as one of it's weapons. That's an idea we got from one of our backers - drills FTW!
3. Infernal Golem of Kashan Vra will be exclusive for Sons of Kashan Vra range. Thats propably bad news for some of our backers. We had a long and thourough discussion about it and finally we came to one conclusion. That doing one kit, fitting both ranges would compromise the final appearance of the model. And we certainly can't do that, as we wish that the Infernal Golem to be on par with other our similar products - Drakskull on Throne of Death and Undead Wyvern. Also, we thought about the solution similar to the elite infrantry unit mentioned in point 2. However, creating two models the size of Infernal Golem would take a lot of time - and in result - delays. And we wouldn't wish to make you wait for the miniatures longer than necessary. Also, we think that the model itself should be fairly easy to convert.
As always, let us know what are your thoughts, and leave a comment!
Update #24: Iron Catapult WIP and Sons of Kashan Vra news!
Hi folks!
Long awaited udate for Metal Beards!
Straight from our forges, second warmachine of the Metal Beards, the deadly Iron Catapult! It's in the final stages of design, but if you compare it to the Dread Cannon, you can see some pieces are still missing. But the Iron Catapult should be ready to fire in no time, so don't despair!
Hope you like it. We should see some more Metal Beards flavour in next few days!
And here's something for Sons of Kashan Vra fans - a quick description of some of the incoming units!
Dread Guard
Dread Guard create a backbone of Sons of Kashan Vra. Corrupted beyond recognition, they are known for their unstoppable assault. It is rumored, that each shield carried by the Dread Guard is inhabitated with a portion of Kashan Vra soul. There might be some truth behind that, as the shields quickly reforge themselves in the image of screaming demonic face. But even more dreadfull is fact, that they can’t be penetrated or broken. Every blade either bounce harmlessly from it, or even shatter if the blow is too strong. Truly, the futile attempt to break Dread Guard instill terror in hearts of the enemies of Sons of Kashan Vra.
Dread Tormentors
They are the definition of brutality. Swift charges followed by utter carnage are their speciality. Launching themselves in the middle of enemy line, they slay any opponent that stand their way. Where Dread Guard are masters of precision strike, the Tormentors are masters of slaughter. It matters not if their opponents outnumbers them, if they are encircled, or if there is no chance of winning – they fight for the sake of killing. And they elevated killing to the state of art – at least in their corrupted minds! It is the bravest of soldiers who can stand they ground seeing the Dread Tormentors charging and howling with their two weapons rised. The bravest, or the most desperate. For Dread Tormentors are the avatars of slaughter.
Dread Eviscerators
Although Sons of Kashan Vra relish in the art of close combat, and prefer to have a good look on their opponents right before delivering the last strike, they don’t disregard the firepower and the profits it brings. Dread Eviscerators are maybe the most dangerous of the Sons of Kashan Vra. They combine the heavy armour with the terrible might of a blunderbuss. They prefer to engage their targets on medium or close ranges, when their lack of accuracy is balanced with the wide arc of fire. Blunderbusses also lack penetration – but Sons of Kashan Vra remedy this by channeling the energy of the crystals. Augumented by the corrupted force, the ammunition penetrates armour with ease. If the armour withstand the impact, it’s often irrelevant, because the wide spray of the blunderbuss can hit the exposed part of the target – and if it does – it’s usually over.
Dread Eliminators
Dread Eliminators are a combined force unit. Their rifles are accurate and deadly on long ranges, but their bayonets are equally dangerous. Long Range support units tend to be very prone to close combat fights, and usually succumb to more melee oriented units. But not the Eliminators. They can provide the fire support exactly where needed, quick, efficient and accurate. But if the situation arises – they quickly heft their weapons and meet their opponents head – on. They often confuse their enemies with their eagerness to engage in melee – instead of simple target, the foolish opponent is faced by well prepared close combat specialists. The death comes swiftly – in form of a bullet or a sharp blade of bayonet.
Chosen of Kashan Vra
A rare sight on a battlefield, Chosen of Kashan Vra are even considered to be only a legend, but some claim that they saw them on their own eyes, and that they survived the day, was a lucky quirk of fate. But Chosen of Kashan Vra are no myth or legend. They are real and they are dread incarnate. It is true, they seldom join the battle, but when they do – Sons of Kashan Vra emerge victorious. Giant suits of corrupted armour, they are attached to different units to augment overall combat abilities of the unit, and inspire them to fight even harder. Sometimes, they are combined into units, to create heavy line breaker force, capable of overcoming every obstacle. They are often ravaged by corruption, but the dark energies lock inside keep them fighting despite their appearance. They are Chosen of Kashan Vra, and by their fury his will be done!
Hope you like it! As always, comments and opinions are welcome!
All the updates are here, but I don't feel it's necessary to copy / paste ones like "forum avatars / banners added" . Was coming to post the next two but got beaten to the punch. Be thankful for what you have, Alph
Btw, are you getting in on this a little bit, or still deciding? If more news were leaking about the dwarf book coming next month it would probably give this a boost. Still almost to 20k, though! With just over a week to go yet (and hopefully a surge to match, which I think is likely).
Do we know what base size the standard miniatures are?
I'm thinking of making the $90 pledge just to get all my warmachines from there. The cannon and catapult look really interesting; I'm willing to bet the gatling gun will be cool, too.
Haha...this is so bad of me, but I wish the GW Dwarf book were already out so I could tailor what I wanted to pledge based on what I would want to play out of the book.
Standard base size is 20mm. And since you pledge for "credit" to apply to models, and the pledge manager won't be finalized until after the book hits, you can apply your credit to the best units in the new book
Metal Beards firepower and more lore of the Kashan Vra.
Hi folks!
Today we need YOUR opinion for one of our products - Steam Gatling Gun. We prepared three differents mock ups of the warmachine - YOU chose which version will be the final one! If you ask me, each one is pretty awesome (let's face it, steam miniguns? They are the definition of awesome!), but we have to pick one. Sad, but that's how it is. So, here's the good stuff...
Take a good look, and let us know which version suits your vision of Steam Gatling Gun. You can vote by picking one number from the three, and leaving a comment below, or in the comments section. Since we're short on time, let's say we will pick the final version on monday! Release the bullet storm!
Number 2 option all the way for me
Here's the lore from the update, I'm going to spoiler it as it's a bit long:
Spoiler:
Second part of the update will be covered by more lore of the Sons of the Kashan Vra. Next updates will be a big ones for the corrupted beardies, but before that, we want to let you know something more about the history and lore background of our project.
Malichim the Betrayer
Apostle of Kashan Vra, The Archtraitor, Voice of the Mountain, Savior. Malichim has many titles, but he is best known as the Betrayer, although Malichim prefers calling himself a Savior. However, there was a time, that Malichim was a respected member of his clan and wore a title of Master Forger – but dark fate was awaiting him.
Mother of the Mountains is very old and large. It was inhabited by dwarves for centuries – it is said that the race of the Mountain Dwellers were living there from the beginning of the world. Vast halls and long tunnels were made in the depths of the Mother of the Mountains – some of the chambers are equal in size to great forests of the Realm. The underground cities are a awe – inspiring sight, palaces and forges, fountains and squares, walls and markets – everything carved in stone, ornamented and incrusted with gold and silver. And Malichim was one of the forge smiths that took active role in creating those wonders. But he was hungry for knowledge – he always wanted more, wanted to go deeper, wanted more space for creating his miracles of craftsmanship. This thirst eventually caused his downfall.
Ages before current era, the great Ancestor Lords of Dwarves from the Mother of Mountains made a grim discovery. Mining deeper and deeper, ever widening their kingdom, they unearthed a primal evil. They rushed back in a hurry, and after reaching the border cities of their clans, they claimed the lower levels and corridors of the mountain are prohibited, and destroyed all entrances, thus sealing the danger forever. That’s what they thought. Long after that they passed into myth, and their rules become a faint memory, then legend. Ancestors never speaked what was discovered deep in the caverns, but the frightened and concerned look on their faces were speaking for themselves – whatever they discovered was very dangerous. But even this warning slowly transformed into nothing more than a fable, a scary one, but still only a fable.
Malichim grew uneasy day by day. He was never satisfied by his works, he felt hollow, he ventured alone deep into long forgotten corridors. Then, on one fateful day, he and almost half of his clan disappeared. Search party was quickly dispatched, but came back to his hometown empty handed after few weeks of careful search. They found only one thing - one of the Forbidden Tunnels entrances was broken open. Malichim and other who were lost were mourned, but as the time gone by, they were eventually forgotten. With the Forbidden Tunnel open however, the missings grew more often – dwarves ventured there to search for wisdom, riches, or just out of curiosity. The quiet calm of the folk of the Mother of Mountains was coming to an end.
After few years of unrest, finally the Forbidden Tunnel revealed his secret. Rank after rank, Sons of Kashan Vra, as they were later known, spilled to their former homeland. They razed the border town to the ground, there was no survivors. At the head of this terrible force stood Malichim the Betrayer. Infused with great, unknown power, he screamed words of prophecy, heralding eternal doom of the dwarven race.
If you like the short stories about the Metal Beards and Sons of Kashan Vra also let us know! Maybe we will expand it a bit to create a full grown lore!
These guys are looking better and better. Really wish I had the cash, makes me want a dwarf army.. but I still have night goblin and lizardman armies that aren't even half painted :(
Anyone heard if they are doing a pledge manager that you can add funds too? Currently trying to get some stuff sold as I'd like to go in in a big way but just don't have the full amount as it stands.
That's a good question, Hulk. I know they'll have to have a manager where you allocate your points, but whether you can add more or not after the fact, I'm not sure.
Did anyone back their prior campaigns / know if they had an add-on option for those?
Hulksmash wrote: Anyone heard if they are doing a pledge manager that you can add funds too? Currently trying to get some stuff sold as I'd like to go in in a big way but just don't have the full amount as it stands.
I believe I read on their page that you can just add additional pledge amounts. So, for example, if you'd made the $90 pledge, you could follow it up with another $50 pledge, and have the aggregate benefit from both.
Just to try to get it out of the way since I'm sure it will come up... Will there be an option to add funds during the survey, after the KS has technically ended?
Creator Titan-Forge @WaaarghPug we did these for indiegogo backers, but we don't know if it's possible for kickstarter platform. But we will talk about it and post some info soon.
so they did it before, so my guess is they'll do it again (but no guarantees)
Yesterday we reached 20 000 £ stretch goal. Thanks to you and your support. Seriously guys & gals, thank you. You were giving us your ideas, and keeping us informed about what you would like to see from the beginning of this campaign, and this is really appreciated!
We're preparing an interesting update for you, one you should like! Rumor says, that maybe, the Infernal Golem will show his ugly face! Also, we have some big info about the stretch goals (there will be some reorganising, but you should like it, so no worries!). This will be a big one, so we need one more day to prepare it - but it's sure worth waiting, believe me!
Also, the FAQ section was updated, be sure to check it out!
Since the Malichim the Betrayer had his moment of glory, we decided that we should also have some other characters appear with their stories. So, behold the Asarhaddon the Loremaster...
Asarhaddon the Loremaster
Asarhaddon is one of the most infamous of the Sons of Kashan Vra. None can count his vile deeds, none can perceive his treacherous manipulations, and none can withstand the sorcerous onslaught he unleashes on the field of battle. Many are his sins, but the greates of all is the corruption of the Temple of Ancestors, once most sacred of all shrines, now nothing more than place of terror, darker than night itself.
Like Malichim, he once belonged to the folk that lived in the Mother of the Mountains for countless years. Unlike the Lord of Terror, he was a dark personality from the beginning. He belonged to one of the most powerful dwarf clans, similar to human aristocracy. He received careful teachings, his thirst for knowledge was never satisfied though, and he quickly surpassed his mentors. His knowledge was immense, and he would be a great asset to the any craft he would dedicate himself to. But this was not his intent.
His pride was even bigger than his knowledge. He despised those who helped creating the great kingdom of dwarves, he despised those who came to him for aid, he even despised his own clan family. He thought that there was no one who could be his equal. Even the great kings of old was deemed by him as unworthy their position.
Dark whispers started to haunt him in his sleep. Promises of power and knowledge beyond his wildest dreams, promises of greatness that could surpass the legends of the Ancestors. This dark dreams, by a strange quirk of fate, were coupled with the disappearance of Malichim and large part of his clan. He eagerly joined the search party, the fact that surprised many of the dwarves – Asarhaddon never committed himself to any task. But none grew suspicious, as the terror of the Kashan Vra was unknown to them at the time. And Asarhaddon founded what he was looking for. The Forbidden Tunnels were open. He took his time to prepare for the journey, and only few days later, he took the path to his destiny and entered the dark corridors where Malichim disappeared, and thus, sealed his fate.
He embraced the transformation to Son of Kashan Vra with open heart and mind, for he knew what was waiting for him from his dreams. He gained forbidden knowledge, learned the dark invocations, performed the demonic rituals. This dedication was well rewarded. Now, Asarhaddon the Loremaster, was ready to let the world know his power.
Temple of the Ancestors was a sacred place. Statues of kings from the ages past were standing proudly, row after row of sculpted images of the forebearers. Dwarves took a long pilgrimages to this holy place, to pay their homage to their past kings, and to thank for the years of prosperity they were experiencing now. On one day, dark and hooded person stood in the great doors of the Temple of the Ancestors. Throwing his hood back, he revealed himself. Asarhaddon the Loremaster arrived to do his first, and some say the most horrific deed. Gathering all his magical power, he casted a spell of terrible might. Statues of the kings started to move, they appearances changing to reflect demonic masters, which Asarhaddon now served. Doors to the temple were shut so no one could escape their dark fate. Demonic statues begin the slaughter, killing the pilgrims with no mercy. And Temple of the Ancestors was always crowded, and being a massive building, none could count how many dwarves lost their lives on that fateful day.
Ever since, the ruined temple is cursed. Dark voices whisper between the statues, which eyes are ever open, ever watchful. Those who ventured inside – never returned. Asarhaddon disappeared again, only to join with Malichim the Betrayer. He is the Loremaster of the Sons of Kashan Vra, and indeed, he is the master of craft he dedicated himself to – a craft of corruption and death.
Hope you like this story as well. Be sure to leave a comment below, and even more important, be sure to check with us tommorow for some really good stuff.

Update #27: Infernal Golem first appearance! Sons of Kashan Vra rejoice!
Hi folks!
It's a big one. Literally! Infernal Golem of Kashan Vra is here and he is ready to rumble. As you can see from a Concept Art below, he is one badass monster. And he will be huge. Throne of Death size, or even bigger! And he has a chain beard. Can you feel it? Massive chain beard, how cool is that?
What's more to say? Four massive axes, horns, chain beard, vents, giant shoulderpads. Can it be better? There is a slight drawback though. This miniature will be massive. Like, really massive. The small silhouette near the leg of the Infernal Golem is almost in scale with this pretty boy. Unfortunately it means it will be a little more expensive in points. But just look at him, he is well worth every point you spend on it! And we know what we're talking about!
IMPORTANT NEWS - THE STRETCH GOALS HAS BEEN CHANGED!
With the few changes we did to the stretch goals, we have very good news for all of you. Most of the stuff we talked about until now will be done on 20 000 pounds stretch goal. It means, that actually you get much more already! Just check the lists! Chosen of Kashan Vra, almost all warmachines, Ancestral Guardians (elite infrantry for Metal Beards) - all will be done on 20 000 pounds stretch goals. We thought, hell, our backers and supporters deserve to have all of this already unlocked, so let's just do it! This means, that only few products are left to unlock, mainly the Hell Bulldozers (cavalry unit), and Ancestral Zeppelins. Pretty cool eh? But check it yourself!
As you can see, there is a lot of stuff that is already unlocked.
AND HERE'S ONE FOR METAL BEARDS FANS!
We casted few beta sets of the Metal Beards Anvilborn Warriors and sent them to different blogs and vlogs for a quick review, and so it happens, that we just received info about one of such reviews being already done! Here's the link to the website:
As we said, it's a beta version, so unfortunately no bases for the moment, but they already being done, so no worries! The blog is in spanish, but just google translate it and it should be alright!
As always - feel free to comment and leave your opinion in the comments section!
It's in German but there are loads of pictures. Overall impression seems verygood. A bit fiddly to assembly, but that is always the cost of posable miniatures.
Love the Infernal Golem concept art! Could work excellently as a K'daii Destroyer, even has the bull look to it
That size comparison photo is interesting, but they have the dwarf on a 25mm round, when they really have to squeeze onto a 20mm square. So, the dwarf couldn't be much wider (it may already be pushing it for ranking up!) and, as a dwarf, couldn't very well be much taller either . I quite like it. A refreshing change from dwarfs that basically are ball-shaped
Update #28: Eviscrators and Eliminators! And a list of add - ons!
Hi folks!
We're working very hard now, and we will be able to show you a new concept art or 3D render every day, so be sure to check with us daily! The Infernal Golem collected a lot of love from you guys & gals, and remember - it is your idea made present. Pretty cool.
Today however, there is even more Kashan Vra goodness. Dread Eviscerators followed closely by Dread Eliminators. Check them out!
As you can see, the Dread Eviscerators are geared with rather big and cumbersome blunderbussess, which gives them their unique look. All the Kashan Vra goodness still remains, so chain beards are also present. They look pretty mean and they mean business!
And the Dread Eliminators. Their weapons look really great with the double bayonet blades mounted on front, and additional blade on the blunt of the rifle. It's really cool how their weapons separate those two choices from each other, with Eviscerators looking more "in your face", and Eliminators being the fire support.
We also prepared a list of add - ons that will be available for you. You can find most of the stuff you wished for added, with weapon upgrades sets and heroes bundle! Check them out, those add - ons should really help you with completing your force.
We also added a new stretch goal for 25k, it's pretty nice! Now you have something to look for!
Pretty nifty eh?
We'll also add a skirmish bundle, more detailed info will be available tommorow!
As always, leave a comment below, and be sure to check with us tommorow. I think I saw something like Ancestral Guardians taking shape today...
Update #29: Cloud Smashers and Ancestral Guardians... population of Metal Beards fans increases!
Hi folks!
Time for some dwarven love! And we have some fine stuff to show you today!
First of all are Cloud Smashers. We decided to add them to the infrantry choices for Metal Beards after some cool discussions on our facebook page. The jet pack infrantry is in great esteem in gaming comunity, and is somewhat iconic. We took our chance to play a little with this concept, as we've done in the past (undead orcs and zomblins for example), and we re - shaped it in our way. Therefore, we created robotic steampunk dwarves hopping around on jet packs, and while doing it, smashing some skulls!
Pretty cool stuff - dwarves on jump packs AND wielding two runic hammers - just mean!
But there's more. Ancestral Guardians, the myth, the legend, the awesomeness. When you need to show your opponent who has got a bigger beard, they are the only choice. Mounted on 40 mm square bases, having a possibility to assembly your model with masked or unmasked head, with additional weapon options (you can swap the drill for shield or second hand weapon) - they are the foebreakers.
The similar options will be available to Sons of Kashan Vra also, so don't be too jealous!
STEAM GATLING GUN vote has ended. Most of you vote option number 2 (twice the guns, twice the awesome!), but a lot of folks also liked option number 3. We want to satisfy either side, so we went for option 2 BUT you will be able to assembly the gun with gunner either in front of the guns, like presented on picture, or in the back of the guns, like on option 3. How's that?
Also we received another review from our friends back in Germany. They also did excellent work, and painted the miniatures very fast - but with great effect! Be sure to check it out!
I really hope they'll be able to allow post-end date continued contributions by people who supported the kickstarter. I'd be happy to keep throwing money at them as it came available in my budget.
Locking in these prices for backers would be nice. I'm just getting a squad to play around with, but I'm thinking about playing fantasy again and would love an army of these guys somewhere soon up the road
We'll also add a skirmish bundle, more detailed info will be available tommorow!
Have they made good on that yet? I figured it'd mean a bunch of different single models more suited to, say, mordheim-ish games (turns out there's actually an active group around here, supposedly - that might make me keep my pledge in!)?
Is it actually written anywhere on their KS page, when it is they'll fulfill everything? I'm sure it's somewhere obvious but I've totally missed it...?
Underneath all the pledge levels on the right hand side
It says April/May 2014
(I'd say that's nigh on impossible, but I don't have real feel for how late it might be as they do a lot in house which cuts down on the potential problems)
Yeah, with how well it's done, I think at least these recent unlocks will not be able to be shipped by then. Thinking summer for the characters I've pledged for, hopefully.
Aye, but if they'd been similar in scale to heroic dwarfs like GW and Warthrone, the arms would have been of roughly the correct proportions. I'm not knocking them for going with a less distorted scaling, they're just no use for my purposes.
It's time to show some heavy firepower! First of all, we want to show all the warmachines till the weekend so you can check them out and get some idea what they will look like. So they're pretty raw, missing a lot of details that will appear later - crystals, skulls, horns. Right now they are still deepin WIP stage, but you can see the overall idea. However, we will add a lot of bits and pieces to those warmachine sets, like chains, crystal caskets, so you could personalize each warmachine as you like, making them more possessed or keeping the "evil" theme toned a bit. This will also help Metal Beards fans if they would like to get their hands on one of those warmachines, or the other way - you could add a Sons of Kashan Vra flavour to a Dread Cannon for example.
Today we have a World Trembler WIP's, straight from the Sons of Kashan Vra forges (also known as computers...)
Yesterday we shown a concept arts of Ancestral Guardians, today it's time for their dreadful counterparts - the Chosen of Kashan Vra! Similar to Ancestral Guardians they'll come with some different options, so you could customize them a bit, swaping head pieces and weapons. I must say the're pretty badass, especially the one without "helmet".
This flaming skull is just sick. That's if you ask me.
As always, be sure to leave a comment below and in comment section!
Update #31: Fire in the hole! Incinerator arrives!
Hi folks!
Like promised, today we present an Incinerator, a perfect tool to bring infernal ain to your opponents, covering them with corrupted flame! As World Trembler, it's still in it's WIP stage. But you can see some detailes added to the template for warmachines, like skulls and spikes. This will be also used with the other warmachines, it will make other warmachines that bit faster.
We will spice it up a bit, that's for sure, but even in it's WIP stage it looks realy cool!
This leaves us with only Life Shreader left from the unlocked warmachines park. We will try to show it tommorow.
Some of you also asked for a Skirmish Set for collectors and RPG fans. We designed something like that:
Dwarf Lord Gemalin
Ancestral Guardian (1 model)
2 x Anvilborn with crossbow/rifles
2 x Sentinels Ironshields (hand weapon & shield)
2 x Mountain Crushers Ironfists (two - handed weapons)
2 x Anvilborn Berserkers (two hand weapons)
2 x Cloud Smashers
2 x Steel Miners
2 x Rampagers
And the point cost for whole set equals 850 points. Hope you like it! We will also post it on front page!
64 hours to go guys & gals! Let us see some Metal Beards and Sons of Kashan Vra love! Time is running away...
As always, please leave a comment and any feedback is welcome!
Hrm. I'm having an issue. I'm trying to finally get around to actually pledging to this project, but I can't seem to get KS to take my money. I enter the money amount, select the reward option, enter my billing info, and then click pledge. Instead of going to any sort of confirmation screen, the screen just flips back to the top of the page. When I click on my account profile, it shows that no projects are being backed.
This is my first KS participation, so I fear there is something I'm missing....
Update #32: 37 hours left - and Metal Beards population is still rising!
Hi folks!
And here we go! Last two days of the campaign began, so we now work even harder. Tommorow we will be available for whole day, so any question will be answered almost immediately! So if you have any more ideas or if you wish to ask about something - go for it!
As for the goodies! We have three things for you today. Not one, not two, but three! Alright, less talking, more showing!
First of all - Metal Beards Rampagers! Also an idea that we had from facebook and kickstarter community! Chainsword. Metal Beard with chainsword. It's like. A burger made with bacon. With bacon in it. Irresistible manliness in one small piece.
A second one is a Runic Balista.
Those will be available for a small amount of points as a bonus! For regular bases we planned some more "classic" theme - runic plates and so on.
As always - be sure to let us know what you think and leave a comment!
Saldiven wrote: Hrm.
When you successfully pledge (for the first time for each project) you're taken to a page that congratulats you for pledging so something has certainly gone wrong but I can't see what
possibility 1. Some browser/device related issue, try using something else
possibility 2. You missed something to fill in (?) , not very likely but worth having a close look to make sure you're not missing a box
possibility 3. KS didn't like your credit card for some reasons, if you have access to a different card might be worth trying that just in case
Last day of the campaign - only 20 hours left. The temperature is rising and Metal Beards are counting on YOU!
We also unlocked the 25 000 pounds stretch goal, which means that all non - hero units receive 10% discount! You can find the unlocked stretch goal on the homepage! This means - more beards and more fun. Can you resist it?
Today we wanted to show you the 3D render of the last of warmachines that were unlocked - the dreaded Life Shreader! Remember, that as previous 3D renders of warmachines, this is still in WIP stage, so some details might be still missing. But overall it looks really cool.
Hope you like this little piece of machinery!
Campaign is slowly coming to an end. And it was a very interesting campaign, definitely crowdfunding one. Although we had some stuff already in mind when we launched this campaign, a lot of things was suggested by community either here, on kickstarter, or on facebook page. We wanted to thank you for that, and take a small pause to browse through all the miniatures that were unlocked and most of them presented in some way. This is also your work. A lot of backers supported us on forums, blogs, thier LGS, etc. This is also your success.
BUT IT IS NOT OVER YET! We still have 20 hours to make this campaign go this one step further! On 30 000 pounds the legendary Ancient Zeppelins will be unlocked. And we're counting on you here!
After the campaign ends, we will have a big meeting in Titan Forge regarding the Metal Beards and Sons of Kashan Vra. We will discuss if we wish to add anything to the already unlocked ranges, or if anybody has some cool ideas what to change/add/modify to make those miniatures look even better. So, if you have any idea, how we could improve the Metal Beards and Sons of Kashan Vra - let us know! We will definitely talk about this on our after - kickstarter meeting and maybe it will happen?
As always, let us know what you think and leave a comment!
Congrats indeed! This eclipsed $50K in USD, despite a low-ish number of backers, so that's quite a success! I think with the new dwarf book these could do great at retail, too.
I hate it when threads are moved to random other subforums without notice, the second the kickstarter ends. Not helpfull.
Anyway:
Update #35: A heartly THANK YOU!
Hi folks!
And it's over! That was fast. It feels like we just launched the project, and right now it's successfully funded. Feels like we just started gathering and discussing all those great ideas we had, and those that our supporters and backers gave us - and now some of them are already done, and even more is just waiting for fulfilling!
But, first things first! THANK YOU! We couldn't have done it without you. Without your support, without your feedback, without your activities on different forums, blogs, vlogs. Without your "spreading the word" in different LGS, hobbystores, gaming clubs, hobby centers. It's our success the same way it's yours. So, again THANK YOU!
That being said, some could ask: what now?
Now it is time for very hard work from our side, and some patience from your side. We still have some miniatures we have to show you, and some of them are only in concept phase, so still some more time is required. During the campaign we tried to keep you informed without delay what is happening here, and we intend to do the same now, after the official campaign ended. However, now we focus on creating all those miniatures, so we wont post the updates as frequently as it was now. We will focus all our resources on creating the awesome products you unlocked as fast as possible. This will mean we will work very hard on single task. Although, while this will influence a bit our presence in comments and updates section - be assured, that when we will have something worthwhile for you - we will show it! Your questions will still be answered on daily basis, so no worries here - we're still here to answer and provide info for any inquires you may have.
We wanted this project to be a crowdfunding, and crowddesigning. And we think we got this right! Infernal Golem, Ancestral Guardians, Chosen of Kashan Vra, Cloud Smashers, Rampagers, Steel Miners and many more were either ideas of our backers and fans, or at least have some part of them designed by them. Chain beards of the Sons of Kashan Vra are the best example - we didn't even think about them when we talked how to design Sons, and look how great they add uniqe "feel" to those models. That is your success, and our awesome ideas made present.
After a short party we will go back to work to make sure, that all of our backers will get the best customer service available. So stay tuned, as always leave your comment, and see you tommorow!
Great shout out to all of our backers from TITAN FORGE!
Did the points on all the stuff I want and I'm at 7355pts which is roughly $650. Not to shabby for 156 Infantry, 2 Characters, the War Altar thing, 8 Warmachines, and 6 of the medium constructs.
Granted those points/costs don't include the zepplins which I plan on picking up a few of if they turn out to be as nice as the rest of the range.
And while it's actually slightly more expensive than a GW Dwarf army (and probably more so once the new units come out) after a 20% discount it's still pretty sweet.
First part of our surveys already reached our backers and the rest will be send in 48h. We are gathering your forms and preparing parcels for dispatch and first batch will be shipped next monday.
There were some questions asked so here are some answers: •Extra points will be charged £31 for every 500pts and £4 for every additional 50pts. •We will charge you via paypal. If you want to pay by wire transfer let us know in e-mail. •There will be scenic bases (from update 49) included for every miniature. If you prefer gold-filled bases please let us know. •Shipping details are different in many countries (codes, states etc.) so be sure that you put all needed information in adress section. If you put for example state with city in same cell it wont be a problem. We will come up with what is what. •Zeppelin from last update is the small one. There will be 3 of those in one KS set. •Please send all surveys back to info@titan-forge.com •There is an error in pts for anvilborn melee units. Those should be 45pts cheaper so if you decide to take those feel free to exceed points limit by 45pts for every chosen melee anvilborn unit. •If there is something wrong with your survey here is a link to correct one (hopefully ) https://www.dropbox.com/s/ovxbrym4f0ved60/Survey.xls but you will need to put all your pledge info by yourself.
What more? Zeppelin parts were already printed, checked and casted. They need some additional work but we managed to steal one from production and here it is:
well this one looks just about ready to begin shipping which is cool,
I like the airships especially as I think they work better than the new GW dwarf gyros if your army has a lower tech look
I'll be keeping my eyes peeled if it's getting close to shipping.
Had to back out, and was annoyed about it. Had just gotten some of the Draskull's stuff and was really impressed. Airship looks pretty neat, but I'll be on the hunt for one of those giant golems most likely.
Ancestral Guardians / Chosen of Kashan Vra + Ancestral Zeppelin
Hello again guys, thanks for your patience, we are trying to respond to all of your questions individually. Now we also have production mold for every model, Hopefully by the end of next week we will be able to dispatch remaining parcels.
You have probably seen the Armymals campaign done by TitanForgeGames. I would like to clarify that it it being developed by separate team and it will not interfere with casting your miniatures. Talking about miniatures, here is how Ancestral Guardians, Chosens of Kashan Vra and Ancestral Zeppelins look like.
i'll be glad to get the paypal invoice for my extras as I can't wait to get hold of the mini-zeppelins
oh and here are some pics of the big stuff from the last update when I couldn't find this thread to post it in
Well my package arrived today.... so many little bits to inventory but it has to be done,
Overall my impression is very favourable with all the dwarf bits being very well cast at first glance so I'm not going to show pictures of them yet I'll wait till I have one of each that I picked up put together,
but the prize is my 3 mini-zeppelins which are both bigger than I expected at approx. 12 cm (4.5 inches) long and come in lots and lots of bits
The Zeppelin gas bag is in 3 parts (there is some warping and I'll need to hot water the bits to get them to fit), with a face at one end and engine at the back.
Also included are 2 mini guns , 3 fins, 3 mystery bits (propeller?) pilot body & seat in one part, pilots head, 2 arms, 2 legs, 1 control bar with the hands moulded on
there are also 2 bombs (i'll need to clean them up properly and compare them to the renders before I can tell if these have lots of flash or miss cast fins),
which ever is the case it's not a major issue for an experience modeller, but combined with the work needed on the gas bag probably mean this is not a suitable kit for a first timer
Score on the mini zeppelins, Orlando! I was very tempted by those and honestly am thinking I might should have put my points towards them instead of the heroes, as I'm sure they'll be pricier now.
Well I've now built the first of my mini Zeppelins, and I'll edit in a photo when the camera's battery is charged up
A bit of boiling water sorted out the gas bag nicely, although I also used green stuff to improve the join, it's simple enough to do, and the straight edges involved make it a simple enough process
the tail fins have little holes in that go over the rivets on the gas bag rails which is a clever trick to help you locate them. The small overhanging straps also help them stay up when glued
The 'face' on the front is a clever bit of design, used one way up we have a heavily bearded dwarf, used the other way up we have a much more demonic face so you can use the zeppelin for good guys and bad guys (or just have a bit of variety)
Finally, the stand: as supplied it will not work very well as the holes in the base and the gasbag are not deep enough (presumably to avoid the risk of miscasts) so you WILL need to drill out both sets of holes. Not a problem to do as there is plenty of 'depth' of resin to work with. As a bonus the shorter exposed stem you end up with is a lot less top heavy and should work out OK on the table top
