No and i have already said slanns scare the living gak out of me if they take that build.

All the spells in the lore, and a "free" dice on each spell...

Theres no way your dispell dice roll will keep up with that.

and not forgetting that you can now take lords at any points level (well so long as they're less then 25%)

Does any one know how many points you can spend on a model that takes up a rare and hero slot (I know there are some that stradle classes) ? (think theres a mount that takes a hero slot for lords ?)

, Judging by the rest of 8th ed I think there's 2 possibilities:
1) Roll 57 dice. That's how many points count towards Lord. The rest count towards heroes.

2) If it looks cool it doesn't count towards either.
Seriously, I think this is yet another thing we'll have to wait for the PDF updates tp find out. After all the army books were written for a different game.

I'd think they'd count towards both. That would be closest to how it works now. In my trial games, that's how we are playing it. (and that 2 for 1 choices only count for one slot under the new system as well).


But yea, pdfs should mention that.

I think they are going to do away with it completely.

If a mount takes up an additional hero slot it will now just count fully towards the percentage of lord points.

If something takes 2 hero slots its just going to lose that.

Oh lord here we go with the twin dragon elf lists. Not quite sure that isn't a good thing though. ... and people were scared 8th was going to be the end of hero hammer. Look at gobbos, with 10+ heroes now.

To be honest on the slann though they will probably get faq'd to be less pure win. or at least make it so that cupped hands no longer works with miscasts.

All i gotta say is Im wrecking house with a slaan with life magic.. Empire and HE can do some CRAZY combos with shadow + life.. Reduce strength by D3 then make every model take a strength test woo

I'm not sure that magic being every where is wrong. Magic has spilled out across the whole of the old world, in some place its very strong, in others there's just a bit. Also chaos by its very nature is not all bad it. May be that old oak tree will give you good luck if you tie a ribbon to it. In other places people will see lights floating across the river.

The reason, at least from my understanding, for seeing more negative effects on the battle field is that the living shape the warp and chaos. How many soldiers are thinking of peace and love, rather then hoping kill the other guy before he kill him? So as the armies approach the negative feelings intensify, merge together, the landscape twists to match both armies hate for each other and finally starts to try killing them.

Soo..High elves and skaven? I might pick up Fantasy now, even though I don't like either of those. I wanna play bretonnians.

What I saw of magic today in a pair of games: If someone takes a Lord, they're pure evil until they miscast. End. You play to win or not at all: I thought +3 DD from the totem would be enough for fun, could barely block 2/3 the incoming spells. When having to trump stuff like Lords w/ four spells casting at +5, you need either another Lord or a dice superiority to successfully counter.

I also saw that when Miscasts do hit, they are nasty. Probably didn't help that when the other teams miscast they kept rolling 8-9 and my side 2-4's.

Yea I think most people are going to still want a wizard to help in magic defense. I guess you are better than you were in 7th if you have no wizard, but you still aren't great.

The good thing, esp. for O&G, is you can get a level 4 wizard and a fighty lord nowadays.

For a special scenario, or a campaign - maybe. For standard games? Hell no. Thankfully the abomination that is wild terrain appears to be optional.

The problem with O&G is they can't evenly distribute Lords if they mix-match: They can get a single Combat Orc and Casty-Shaman at that point level, but only that: No Gobbo Warbosses, which are practically the only reliable way for active combat resolution for Gobbos. Which could be taken instead of Orc Warbosses... if they didn't have only Ld 8.

Having played today, 8th forces you to take a wizard more than 7th Edition if only for dispelling: At least in 7th you could get by with a Level 1 Trolley.
