As you step outside, the smell of death greets you, and you spy a vivisector stabbing a corpse over and over again, almost mechanically.

The trace is dim, but it still exists, and you can feel the child is located at the tram station.

Slipping through the vents, you exit out into the tram station, you can see what appears to be a massive vivisector with two extra limbs, and grossly deformed lungs that bulge from it's back.

You blast off one of the creature's limbs with your mauler, it whips it's head towards you, and it gibbers madly as it charges you, in a blur of teeth and claws.

"Dez...I'm sorry, I should have killed the bastard before he had the chance to fire. Shoot first, ask questions later." I sit down and put my head in my hands contemplating things for a short minute. "So strolek, on a lighter note, that power box, any chance of the five of us reaching it without being horrible dismembered by abominations? Wow, never thought I'd say that on a lighter note."

"The main power box is located in Engineering, but I highly doubt any of us wish to go there at the moment. I know that we can find the secondary power station by taking the tram to the Apartment Quarter, then moving through there to the Psych Ward in the Medical Quarter, after that, it should be a cake walk. You'll need to go into the basement and turn the power back on manually."

You grab the severed limb from the ground, and use it to hack off the creature's head, then proceed to stomp the corpse into oblivion. More of the creatures come charging down the hall, tearing apart Conclave corpses as they flail about. You now realize that you're the last survivor of your attack group.

"Sound's like that's a big job. Definitely no walk in the park, anyone up for risking your life for a little light around here?"

You run for it, firing your mauler behind you as you do. As you bolt down the death-choked hallway, you can see two readily available escape routs; a lift to your right, and a flight of stairs directly in front of you, but farther away than the lift.

I jump out of my hiding spot attempting to leap on the vivisector's back.

"Well, I'm no help waiting here for my other leg to go. I'm in. Just hadn me a prosthetic leg and I can fight."

I begin to set off for the door and pause a moment to glance at all of them. "I have to tell you guys something before we leave, I'm not who you think I am, my name isn't James, it's Raymond or rather Ray294 as the Conclave branded me.

I was a operative of the Conclave sent in to assault this facility and ruthlessly butcher any UN I saw, clearly things didn't go to plan, my squad was slaughtered by those things, never stood a chance. Alone and out numbered, my chance of surviving seemed to dwindle to almost nothingness. That's when I intercepted a message from Rachel to Dez, in the message she relayed your last known position and I tracked you down.

I'll be very honest with you, my initial plan was to wait for the opportune moment and pick each of you off. When the moment for the kill came, we Became surrounded by howlers and barely made it out. I've learned to depend on all of you and trust you. In fact I realize the Conclave had brainwashed us into thinking you were animals nothing but savages that needed order, they erased my memory and lied to me. The moment of truth came when the Conclave officer shot Dez, I had to choose, them or all of you...It was no competition."

Rachel looks at you with disgust. "You son of a b*tch! You f*cking lied to us! I know I shouldn't have trusted you, lying sack of dog mess, I should kill you!" She bounds across the room at incredible speed, and her fist cracks across your face, breaking your nose. "I... need to think about this. Gaz, if he moves, blow his f*cking brains out."

"I saved your f**king life Gaz!" I shake off the hit, and put my hands up, "Okay, I had that coming but I'm not the enemy here, if I was do you think I would have shot my own officer when he commanded to stand down? Do you think I would have done all I could to save you when I first met you Gaz? What about you Rachel? do you think if I was the enemy here I would have thought twice about blowing your brains out after we were finished with the howler? Look I don't trust the Conclave either, I wouldn't blame you if you gave me a bullet to the brain and closed the discussion but Don't do it because you think I'm your enemy though. I'm far from it."

Look if you"re going to kill me, at least let me die doing something productive. I can probably reach the power box by cloaking myself, I'll probably get by with a few close calls in but I might be able to reach it. So last call, Heaven or Hell?"

"Guys, hes a friend, he has never tried to hurt us. Heck hes saved our lives so many times. Now lower the gun Gaz."

Rachel's gaze is chilling, and her hand wavers over her holster, but after what seems like an eternity, she drops her arms to her sides and sighs. "James, Ray, whoever the hell you are, I'm grateful for what you did for us, but I can never completely trust you until you tell us everything. Who you are, where you came from, all that jazz. If we want to live, we need to trust each other completely."

You dive down the stairs, slamming the door hard behind you. You can hear the vivisectors giving off frustrated howls as they slam into the door. It won't hold them for long, better get moving. You hear an odd keening wail from above, and as you look up, you see a rotting head attached to it's spinal cord launch itself at you from the support beams.

You avoid the spine creature, and it shatters it's delicate body against the wall, the shards of bone clicking to the ground. The mycomorphs outside have begun to cut their way in, and already you can see their monstrous faces peering through.

I shoot at one and go back to running really fast

Your mauler only succeeds in ripping the door free of it's hinges, and the crazed things surge forward, arms flailing and teeth gnashing. You run down the stairwell, with the creatures hot on your heels. As you reach the next flight, you can see a door leading to the next floor.

I bolt for the door, and when i get in i hurry close it, and attempt to barricade it

You slam the door behind you, pushing a nearby cabinet in front of it. The mycomorphs howl in rage, and begin slamming themselves against the door. This floor seems devoted to observation, confirmed by the rows and rows of observation domes lined up around you. A faint tapping can be heard coming from somewhere in the chamber.

I keep running for the nearest exit

You race along the corridor, and as you near another door, you catch movement from out of the corner of your eye. As you turn your head to investigate, a single canister rolls out from under a desk, the cylinder stopping as it touches a wall. The mycomorphs have stopped their pounding, and the chamber is utterly silent.

As you move about, the bluish light from the observation domes lights up the dark hallway, casting long, ghastly shadows about the room. One catches your eye, the elongated form of a man, the shadow quickly disappears. making you wonder if you ever saw it at all. You quickly forget the image as a creature that seems to be a huge, flayed man with shovel-like claws on each hand bursts from an observation dome with a monstrous roar.

Keels over from the hit "Okay, deserved that to. I understand, fair enough. My name is Ray and I would tell you where I'm from, who I am, my parent's names. To be honest, I remember very little from before my service with the Conclave, they told me a UN force raided the town where I grew up and slaughtered the people there, that they erased my memory, that I was lucky to be liberated by the Conclave and honored to be inducted in their warmachine. At the time I beleived them, after all, I had nothing and would take any answers I could get, I sought a purpose, I suppose I was really seeking the means to an end, this the Conclave offered. I was trained my whole life to reap revenge on what they brainwashed us into thinking were savages. So I fought to take revenge on those that stole my life from me, now I realize I was fighting the wrong enemy. Sorry, some of those questions, I have been seeking the answers to them my entire life."

"It doesn't matter. I understand you had been lied to by the Conclae. But it does'nt matter, Conclave, or UN. We are all just trying to survive against these monstrosities. Now come on. Lets go."

"just remember my gun could misfire in your direction any time....."

"Well, I'm trying to help you, if you kill me that makes it a lot harder...Just saying" I start to head with the others out the door.

"Now lock it up, and come. Rember to keep your wits sharp, and you weapons loaded.. So, where exactly are we heading again?"

"We need to get to the tram to go to the Apartment Quarter, then moving from there through into a Psych Ward in the Medical Quarter. Then we'll need to go into the basement and turn the power back on manually. So in other words right now, the tram."

"Acknowledged. Let's move people. Look out for hostiles."

"Call me whatever you want, it doesn't really matter anymore." We venture out the door and start heading the way of the tram.

The walk to the tram station is mostly uneventful, leaving after Ray revealed himself, and Strelok closed the door behind you, offering you best of luck. The station itself is dimly lit, the track and the station littered with trash and other refuse. The tram itself, a battered electro-rail, sits on the track quietly. Moving inside the torn and wrecked interior of the tram, Rachel examines the control panel, attempting to activate it. "Sh*t, auxillary power won't run this piece of crap." She looks around, until she spies a switch-box bolted to the wall. "Someone's going to have to flick that switch if we want to go anywhere. The tram is preset to start moving when the emergency power turns on, so the rest of us should hop on while another activates the power. No sense starting the tram and then having it run off on us."

"ill do it"

"Best of luck, I'll try to cover you with my rifle if any thing happens, god speed Gaz." I ready my rifle.

*gaz walked over to the switch and flicked it as he flicked it he ran for the tram...

You begin your walk to the switch-box, but as you do, a horrible screeching sound fills the air, a scream torn from a thousand hungry mouths. Mycomorphs of every concivable shape and variety begin to pore into the tram station, their horrid shrieks and gibbers drowning out all other sounds. A creature made up of four composite bodies skuttles forward, a freakish centipede that spits a stream of acid at you. The tram begins to move, slowly at first, but picking up speed, "Gaz, hurry!"

I try to blast any away from Gaz.

The acid strikes Gaz full in the helmet, reducing it to plastic slag, tossing it aside, he begins to run for the tram, but you know in your heart that he won't be able to reach it before it speeds off.

You blast the head off the centipede, but the tram is begining to gain considerable speed, and the mycomorphs are hurling themselves at it, trying to gain purchase on the side. "F*ck! I can't stop it! He'll have to jump!" Searching frantically, you find a long length of cable.

"Gaz, oh sh*t here goes everything, grab on!" I throw a end to Gaz. Rachel, Dez and I get ready to pull him up.

You throw the cable to Gaz, and he grabs on just as the tram reaches incredible speed. As you and Dez hoist him aboard, a noose-like tongue loops around his throat, and an excited whoop can be heard from the top of the tram as Gaz is slowly lifted up by his neck. "Oh, f*ck me..." comes Rachel's remark as you look out the window, you can see mycomorphs teeming in their thousands, their bodies being sucked under the tram as they hurl themselves at it, eager for the kill. It's as if the entire Facility has come alive. More and more of the things manage to clammer aboard, and the world beyond the window becomes a colorless blur. A clawed hand punches through the window to your right, and the creatures begin to crawl inside.

As we hoist Gaz aboard. I start to untie the cable around his neck."Rachel they're breaking through, fire in any hole they make. "Sh*t! We're gonna make it through this, keep a steady head." I yell as I undo the cable.

"kill them all!"

"Find cover furthwer up the tram! I'll stay at the back of the line and hold them off!"

I signal for them all to move up the tram, as I fire at the mycomorphs.

"i don't think so. you coming aswell or im stating with you"
*shoot the hell out of a few of them

"I am coming, just stay behind me of me."

I keep pace and fire at the beast's that are breaking through. "Stick together! you saw what almost became of Gaz, make sure everyone is in a position to cover someone else!"

"F**k it Ray just let me do this. Comeon, we have got to move further up!"

"Fine. call for me if you need help." I advance through the tram.

"They just keep on coming! If theres any way you can find out, how close are we?!"

Your quarry is long gone, but as thousands of other mycomorphs swarm about you in a mad dash to latch on to the speeding tram, you smell a familiar scent.

I follow in the direction of the scent.

As the query leaves Dez's mouth, the door to the other car swings open, and a Conclave Ghost stumbles inside. He clutches his stomach, and it bulges obscenely as something attempts to free itself from his body. As he sees you, he coughs up blood into his helmet, obscuring his eyes. "Sector...not secure..." His whole body heaves as his stomach splits open, and dozens of blade-tipped tentacles whip towards you.

"Sector not secure...Well no sh*t!" I yell as I shoot at the beast while keeping my distance from the tentacles.

You race back, firing with your pistol at the creature. It continues to shuffle forward, mumbling to itself.

I aim for the head. 8

Your shot takes off the Ghost's head, leaving the body to lash about wildly as it searches for you.

"pity" I mutter as I softly move to the side and give it another shot to the torso. 5

The creature jerks as it absorbs the bullet, stumbling off to the side.

You leap towards the speeding tram, pushing off the ground with your powerful legs.

Your shot nails it in the spine, and it slumps to the ground, it's tentacles flailing wildly. As it hits the floor, one of the centipede creatures forces it's way into the car, scuttling on it's many legs up onto the ceiling.

8 "Gaz, Dez, I could use some help over here!"

The acid hisses past your head, and hitting the auto function on the tram, Rachel rushes over to help you, assault rifle in hand.

I get far enough away to get a decent shot in. 7
Rachel start shooting at it. 3

(Ray, Rachel)

Your shot goes wild, but Rachel saws the mycomorph's torso from it's body in a fountain of gore. You and Rachel can hear the sound of gunfire from several cars down. "Who the f*ck is shooting?"

We rush to see what all of the commotion is about "Gaz, Dez we are going to try to find a way out, we will be back!" I yell

(Ray, Rachel)

You rush down the hallway, avoiding several mycomorphs who have made their way inside. A multitude of emotionless voices can be heard as you near the final door, and before you see the interlopers, you know their identity. Conclave. Several Conclave soldiers are holding off a group of mycomorphs as their Thought Policeman lies dead on the floor.

"Rachel, I know you don't like it but we need all the help we can get. It's your call though, if you want me make their heads explode just say the word."

(Raychel)

She sighs, "Fine, I hate to say it... but you're right. If they show one sign of betrayal, they're dead."

"I agree" I snipe any of the beast hurdling themselves at the troopers. 4

(Raychel)

Your shot blows the head off a vivisector, who stumbles off onto the track, shredding it's body as the tram rumbles on. The Conclave troopers proceed to pick off the remainder of the mycomorphs, and then whirl around and train their guns on you. "Hold it! On the ground now!"

"No, you on the ground or this gets ugly. You won't survive without us, make your next move carefully. Who is the commanding officer?"

(Raychel)

A single soldier steps forward. "By Conclave Military Code 83c, I am the commanding officer."

i shoot at it: 3

"Do you honestly expect to survive in this hell hole with the pitiful amount of soldiers you have here."

I am still trying to defend the back of the cart against the marauding mycomorphs. I hear Ray and Rachel's voices coming from further down.

"We can't hold them much longer!"

I reload my assault rifle, and then roll to the side, as one lashed out to hit me.

"F**k it! Gaz! You move down to them and tell them to get moving! I'll hold them back for you for as long as I can! I'll fall back when I can't hold it! Now go!"

*tosse a grenade into the beasts*
Gaz ran down the tram towards ray and rachel

"I'll see you...later."

The officer is surprised by your question, and says; "We are Conclave, we conquer all. We are the Great Fist, the Endless Tide, we cannot be stopped. It is unthinkable." He cocks his head to the right suddenly, and hands you his com. "You will speak with him." As you press the receiver to your ear, your mouth goes slack as you hear the man on the other end. The man who smashed nations, slaughtered billions in endless purges, who ruled the world with an iron fist, the Voice, master of the Conclave is speaking to you through the com, and you break into a cold sweat as you hear him speak. His voice is clear, focused, and cruel; "Hello Ray. I have heard disturbing rumors, that you have defected to the Great Enemy, that you shot a fellow officer." He sounds profoundly surprised, as well as disbelieving. "I will be frank, our progress within the Facility has been less than satisfactory, in no small part made more difficult by the Enemy. I know that you defected Ray, and I'm going to make you an offer. I can activate your Terminal Switch, thus killing you and those around you, or, you can help the Conclave capture this Facility and live. The choice is yours. You have five minutes." The line goes dead.

Firing your assault rifle at the horrors, a howler manages to squeeze itself through a window, and lets out a chilling screech.

Sweat drips from my forehead as I pace back and forth. I stop for a minute and lift the com and begin to speak into it."Before I decide anything, were the Un the ones who butchered my family? What really happened to my memory? What were my parents names?" I look at Rachel and then back to the Conclave, edging on the decision to be made.

(Ray)

There is a slight pause on the other end before the Voice replies; "Your parents were Samuel and Marilyn Jacobs, your birth name was James Francis Jacobs. Your father was a steelworker during the N'ss War, and your mother was waitress. When we came to power in the years following, they fought us tooth and nail in the Resistance. During the Third Great Purge, you were captured by our Enforcers. You were acting as a Captain to the Great Enemy, and were subdued and brought to a Reeducation Camp, where you were taught the true way, the Conclave way. You were a fine learner, and you made a wonderful Ghost. With a total of over eighty-six terminations of rebel organizers, you were quite a valuable asset. When you began to develop free will and a personality, we put you through a Loyalty Test, where you executed over twenty of the Great Enemy, including Samuel and Marilyn Jacobs. We knew that if you developed free will, and remained loyal, you would need to either be terminated or inducted into the Inner Circle. We opted to test your will with increasingly horrific encounters, from suicide missions to bombing runs. All leading up to now, we knew what lurked in the Lazarus Facility, and we required it to further the Great Work." The line goes silent, waiting for a response.

Your head rings with white noise as the howler leaps for you from the window.

"Samuel...Marilyn...My fake name was my real name....I guess I subconsciously Remembered when looking for a cover. You son of a bi*ch, you took everything away from me! You stole my life..."I fall to my knees and look at the ground."It's all coming back now, the capture, the war, you forced me to kill my own parents!...All of those soldiers...My friends... You bastard..." I stand and turn to the wall resting my head against it, thinking as time narrows down.

You race down the car, and come to a halt as you see Ray, Rachel and three Conclave soldiers standing amidst a field of corpses. Ray is pale, and sweat runs down his face as he hold a com to his ear.

The howler knocks you to the ground, driving the air from your lungs like a hammer. It latches it's jaws around your head and pulls.

Your shot blows the other arm off the ripper, and it stumbles into an observation dome, cracking the glass with it's bulk. Wasting no time, you charge it, slamming the heavy butt of the mauler into the mycomorph's face, bursting apart it's misshapen skull with your shotgun, spraying bone and grey matter about the observation room as the glass shatters, sending the creature stumbling back. It crawls about, searching for you. You proceed to dismember it with a series of shots from your mauler, and if finally lays still. The uneasy feeling of being watched increases, and you can hear a rustling sound as something moves behind you. In front of you, an immense, stick-like shadow falls on the floor, reaching out towards you.

I spend a long moment looking over Gaz and Rachel, I stand "It was no decision" I walk to stand in he group of Conclave officers. Suddenly I feel my self losing the free will that had been fought tooth and nail for."No I can't let this happen" I whisper to myself. In a deft motion I grab the Conclave leading officer and put a knife to his neck and hold him in front of me. "put your guns down or I kill him and they kill you. I've made my decision, let this be the end of it. Voice, who ever or whatever you are, go f*ck yourself."

(Ray, James?)

The soldiers train their guns on you, and let out a torrent of fire, ripping through the officer's body, and impacting on your armor. The rounds having been slowed by your 'shield' and his armor, do not harm you. The Voice whispers into your com; "Charnel-Black-Omega. Kill her, then kill yourself." You feel your pistol taking aim at Rachel as your Terminal Switch is flipped, the urge too powerful to ignore.

You leap out of cover, your ripsaw tearing a soldier in half with the sheer intensity of your fire. The other soldier lobs a grenade towards you, and it land at your feet.

You and the remaining members of your pack latch on to the side of the hurtling tram, forcing your way inside the fast vessel.

Your mind clears, even as blood streams from your mouth and nose, and your blood pounds like a jackhammer through your skull. You stumble back coughing against the window, seeing Gaz leap into the car, ripping a soldier in half with his weapon. Rachel responds, shooting the other through the head with her pistol.

I stumble as I try to stand. "Last f*cking time we show them any mercy. Sh*t where's Dez!?" I straighten myself out and wipe the blood from my face. I start to sprint to where we last left Dez.

(James, Rachel, Gaz)

You run back to where you left Dez, and you begin to feel the tram beginning to slow down, and the Mycomorphs outside begin to break through with alarming speed.

We run, shooting all in our path in the charge to get to Dez.

Dispatching a group of vivisectors, you begin to push open a broken door, you can hear an excited whooping coming from up ahead. A noose-like tongue shoots out from the gap in the door, and it wraps around Rachel's throat, pinning her against the door.

I pull my combat knife and attempt to cut the tongue before it can do any damage.

You saw through the tough fiber of the lyncher's tongue, and it retracts, spraying foul dark blood on yourself and Rachel. Heaving the door open, Rachel descends upon the serpentine creature, power saw in hand. She jams the purring blade deep into it's split face, and saws it it twain. "Don't just stand there, move!"

"Don't have to tell me twice!" We continue to haul as$ trying to make it in time.

(UN TEAM)

Nearing the front of the tram, you can hear a wailing moan, and one of the crab creatures from the Green House shambles forward, swinging it's club-like arm at you.

The massive claw smashes across James' face, sending his helmet flying, and knocking him against the wall with a dull crunch. Rachel digs her power saw into the mycomorph's chest, shaving off bits of chitin. Firing your ripsaw, you blow a hole through it's chest, and it staggers back a bit.

Whipping your head up, you bolt through the door, shoving a lurking stalker down the stairs, and continuing to reduce all in your path to a gory paste with your mauler. After considerable running, you find yourself in the tram station, and the tunnel shakes as the tram speeds past you, covered in mycomorphs. A switchboard lies near your right, you might be able to stop the tram...

Rachel saws off the mycomorph's claw with her power saw, spraying foul blood in all directions, then your ripsaw flares to life, tearing it in half. Yet still, it crawls forward, eager for blood.

You misjudge the speed of the tram, and your body smashes into the side of the metal train, pulverizing your chest, and hurling you to the floor of the station. By sheer bad luck, as you fall, your arm is caught under the tram, and sheared off in a torrent of blood by the vehicle. As your stump sprays blood like a sanguine fountain, you can see the horde of mycomorphs closing in on you with hungry screams. Pulling out your pistol, you put holes in the screeching multitude, but their sheer numbers prevent you from dealing any significant damage. A large, crab like mycomorph grabs your legs with it's tentacled arm, ripping off your other limb with a massive claw. Grabbing your head with the same appendage, it squeezes, crushing your skull with freakish ease, bits of your brain oozing through it's broken container.

With a primal roar, your last shred of sanity is brutally forced down by your need to kill. Leaping with your powerful legs, you land on top of the tram, knocking a vivisector aside to make room for yourself.

You pry open a service door on the roof with your bladed arms, hurling it aside as you drop down into the tram.

You and your pack leap through a tram window, crashing through the glass and landing lightly on your feet. The smell is close now, you can practically taste his blood again... Then, another scent fills your nostrils. The aberrant child, it is here.

Rachel laughs bitterly; "We were the backup! We're on our own!"

Loading a spike into your rivet gun, you fire at the creature's torso, pinning it to the wall. Raising your ripsaw, you dismember it in a circular fashion, leaving Rachel to tear into it with her power saw. Finally, it lays dead.

"We find Dez, then we fall back to the other squads." We keep charging down the tram to where Dez was.

(UN TEAM)

Running through the door to the conductor's cabin, you find Dez wrestling with a howler on the floor. Mycomorphs pore in from the broken windows and through the door in the dozens, a screaming multitude of inhumanity. If you stay on the tram, you have no chance of surviving through the next few minutes. Pulling out a demo charge, and ramming it down the howlers throat, so hard that he shatters it's teeth, Dez yells; "Run! Don't let me die in vain!" With that, he presses the detonation stud, turning the cabin into a raging inferno, incinerating the horrors with intense heat. You manage to duck out of the blast, using the door to shield you. The tram carries on regardless, smashing into something ahead, stopping it's advance, and throwing you to the floor. Laser fire can be heard from outside the tram, along with the angry shrieks of mycomorphs. Looking out the window, you can see grey armored soldiers firing away with A-17 Charge rifles, blasting off mutated limbs with ease.

The tram comes to a screeching halt, throwing you forward into the wall. You can hear laser fire coming from outside.

i shake it off and i try to move as steathy as possible to move to the battle field

I call out to the gray armored soldiers. "Are you going to help us or kill us." I take a shot at the beast. "We could both really use each others help."

"Dez DEZ DEZ!!"
*run over to Dez' body

(UN TEAM, Gaz, Dez was vaporized by the explosion, there is no body.)

The grey armored troopers finish picking off the mycomorphs, then level their A-17s at you, not hostile, but wary. "Lower your weapons! You are UN soldiers, are you not? How many of you are there? Where is your commanding officer?"

"We will lower our weapons, but we ask you do the same" I lower my gun. "Our commanding officer is dead. There is 3 of us. Who are you people?"

Aha! An opportunity has arisen.

Name: Varz
Personality: Tactical, thoughtful, serious.
Age: 20
Faction: UN Remnant
Class: Soldier
History: His parents were killed in a car accident, and he also presumed that his brother was dead as well. So he ran away, and sought refuge in the military. He worked hard, and fought well. Later on his older brother joined the military and was put in his squad, and Varz was surprised that he was alive. They got back to being brothers, and they worked well together. Due to an injury Varz had to rest for a few weeks, and therefor joined the est of his squads operation late. He found that nearly all of his squad was dead. He found that the last two people of his squad, his partner Rachel, and his brother, had gone into the facility nearby. He must find them. Hopefully he will survive that long to do so.
Family: Only his brother, and Rachel.
Worst fear: To fail and lose his brother and Rachel.
Hopes for the future: To live peacefully, with no war.
Motivation: The remainder of his team.

The soldier lowers his weapon only slightly, and signals to his men to do the same. "We're the Lazarus Guard, elite soldiers assigned here to protect the scientists from invasion," he waves his hand around, "or... mishap. How long have you been here?"

"A while now. Look we need your help clearing the Conclave invasion and getting the Facility operational again. Let me speak to your leader."

(Varz)

If the Universe had a sense of humor, it was a rather sick one. Bodies, and pieces of bodies, lay about the lobby, a malfunctioning hologram repeats it's greeting to no one. A trail of dried blood leads out deeper into the Facility, near a set of lifts.

"Well f**k. Whatever sick battle went on here seemed to have happened long ago. Best head further in," I whisper to myself.

I move towards th elevators, and go to head deeper into the facility.

(UN TEAM)

He nods, "I'm sure West would like to have a few words with you himself."

(Varz, are you entering a lift?)

You gibber madly, causing two of the guardsmen to turn about and fire their rifles at you.

"Alright then, I'll see your leader then. I heard something about him from a seperate seintist, Strolek was his name I believe. He's locked himself in Engineering if you want to go find him. Look were almost there but we need to finsih turning the power back on, it's only a little further."

"Here's the deal, the Psych Ward is locked down tight at the moment, the only way in is through the vents, only one of you can fit through. The good news is that the Ward is a freak-free zone, so it shouldn't be that hard. The bad news is that the lower levels are flooded, and you'll need to go through them to get to the auxiliary power box. I mean completely flooded, it's like a freakin' underground lake. What's worse is that something's moved in down there, something big. We don't know what it looks like, but the men call it the Leviathan."
(You can volunteer Rachel to enter the Psych Ward)

"Alright Rachel, you up for this? If not me or Gaz will go. I'll talk to West, what are you guys going to do about Strolek?

The twin bolts of hot death tear two of your component limbs from your mutated body, causing you to go berserk, gibbering like a loon as you charge the guards.

"I dont think I will be able to fit in those vents"

"Your call Rachel. I'm not to accustomed to one on one close combat. Whatevers in there I don't think I have a fighting chance. I'll go if I have to though."

The Lazarus Guard begin to lead you through the corridor, and onto a rather large lift. With the sad creak of protesting metal, the lift hurtles upwards, until it dings, and opens up into a rather sterile looking hallway. They march forward on your sides, leading you to a non-desrcript door that whooshes open as you approach. Sitting at a desk of fine walnut is a middle-aged man with salt and pepper hair and haunted eyes. He looks up at you as you enter, and he rises to greet you, extending his hand. "I'm Herbert West, welcome to the Safe Zone."

Crawling inside a vent is akin to being suffocated by a steel blanket, dark and oppressive. Your nostrils are filled with the smell of fetid meat, no doubt a howler's belated meal. Blood slicks the side of the vent, making your progress slightly easier. Keeping your pistol out, just in case, you find yourself at a junction, the vent splitting into a right and a left path. You can hear something crawling through the vent behind you, but judging by the lack of howling, you can only assume that it's not yet aware of you.

I go on tiptoe to the left...

I shake west's hand "Safe zone....does that really exist in this place? What's your plan to repel the Conclave? We still have some UN in the building, I have found them on my tracker." I slid it over to West to show him."If we can rally them here, we can mount an attack, repel the Conclave and use the manpower to reclaim the facility. Could you send patrols to their positions and alert them of the news? West, we still have a fighting chance. Hopfully we can call in for more manpower once the Conclave are defeated." I sit down, taking solace in the momentary peace I was deprived of since first entering this building.

(Rachel)

You crawl down the left passageway, feeling a gust of cold air brush against your face as you do so. You can hear strained voices coming from a grate directly in front of you;
"Have you found a way out? I haven't eaten in weeks, and the Coven is getting restless."
"Patience, our men in the Guard can set us free, just wait."

"so west how many men do you have left here?"

I follow the sent of the one I was supposed to kill.

I move closer to the grate to hear more of their conversation.

(Yes I am going in a lift, actually, anything that could take me further down in the facility)

"The Conclave is the least of our worries. Something was brought here by my colleague Kensington from the Great Expansion, this... Hive Mind is what's controlling the mycomorphs. It sees what they see, hears what they hear. In time, it will find us here, and we'll become one with the damnable thing. Killing it should be our first priority. I have a total 60 brave men and women ready to take the fight to the Hive Mind, if there are UN soldiers out there, then we may have just enough to do the job. We just need to find a way to retake the Psych Ward and get the power on."

You pick yourself up from the wreckage, and pick up the scent once again, leading off to lift. Two other smells reach your nose, new, and unusual.

(Varz)

You step onto the lift, and as the doors close, you direct it downwards. Finally, the doors whirr open, and a scene of carnage meets you. Pieces of partially eaten bodies lay scattered about. You appear to be in a hospital, with a man dressed in surgical garb operating a tissue laser to disect a corpse on a table with his back to you. "He appears to be dead.... fascinating."

(Rachel)

"Your little cult will have to be patient, do you think I'm not f*cking hungry too?"
"Hush, I smell something, above."

You savagely tear into one of the guardsmen, hurling his body at the other, pinning him to the ground.

"Probably nothing..."

"We already have soemone going torwards the power box. How do you intend on killing the Hive Mind?"

(UN TEAM)

West's eyes fill with shock; "We trapped the failed experiments in the Psych Ward, you sent them to their death."

"One of your officers told us to! I'm going in after her." I start to make it for the door.

He pales; "That wasn't one of ours... F*ck! We have been compromised."

"He's the one who brought me to you!"

"F*ck! F*ck! F*ck! I've worked for years to keep this place secret! The ghouls, oh sh*t the ghouls! Men, ready yourselves!"

"Do what you need to do. I'm saving my sqaud mate. Come on Gaz, this isn't over. West, if you neeed support, you know where the UN troops are. God speed."

"I can open the door to the Psych Ward from here if you wish, but you risk attracting the flesheaters."

"Do it."

As West moves off to open the door from a control chamber, you sprint to the lift, and make your to the front of the Psych Ward, a rather bland set of double doors lay in front of you, with a click, the door unlocks.

"Gaz, I think you should lead on this one."

I breathe a sigh of relief, then look around for another place to go, not wanting to push my luck.

(Rachel)

The path leads straight ahead, the noise from the creature behind you has gone off in a different direction, leaving the vents quite.

I move forward, trying to keep it as quiet as possible.

(Rachel)

You crawl forward, coming across another grate, the sound of chanting comes from the slitted portal, forming a haunting chorus.

I lean closer to listen to the chanting and peek through the grate to see the hullabaloo.

"ummm sure "
*opens the door slightly*

well lets go deeper to look for them i guess"

I take out my pistol, and put it next to the mans head.

"Don't make a move. Why are you here? Who are you?"

While hes coming up with an answer, I try to make contact with Rachel and Dez again.

"This is Varz. Rachel, Dez, can you hear me?"

"Alright then." We go deeper in.

"its gaz dez is dead"

(You did'nt, and also I think I should hear about it once I have met up with you seeing as its my brother. Also I am not even sure if there is connection. Mordoskul will have to decide.)

(Rachel)

As you look down the grate, you can see what appears to be the inside of a church, a host of men and women chant a wordless prayer lead by a trio of robed figures.

(Varz)

The man drops the tissue laser in surprise, despite your pistol, he turns around to face you. He wears a surgeon's mask covered in blood, as is the front of his coat. Where his left eye should be is a gaping socket. "Oh my, you look terrible, come lie down, I can treat you."

"varz we just entering the phsyc ward now we can wait a while but not to long

"Thank you..." I pause, and then remember about the man in front of me.

"No, I'd rather not. What are yoing here? How are you still alive?"

(UN TEAM)

You enter the Ward, a grey hallway leading to a reception desk lies before you.

(Varz)

"Oh, well, I... don't know...I just have. My, my, you look pale, perhaps you ought to lay down..."

*checks the desk for supplies

You find a syringe full of a clear fluid, a light pistol, some magazines, a book of some sort, and a knife.

*throws ray the book
"got any idea what might be in this surringe?"

You growl as the smell leads you once again into the vents. Crawling about, you can smell living meat nearby.

I go off exploring more of the vents.

"No! Now tell me, how do I get down further in the facility?"

(Rachel)

After crawling forward several more feet, you find a maintenance hatch leading outside.

(Varz)

"Oh, why would you want to do something like that? This place is full of nasty things."

"I don't care! Just tell me how I can get in deeper! I am losing my patience."

"Hmm, the doors lead down to the Psych Ward, full of my kind of... 'folks'."

I skim the book briefly scanning for anything that might be of importance.

(UN TEAM)

The book appears to be written by hand, it's subject is mainly religion, but no religion you've ever hear of. It primarily concerns the consumption of human flesh to reach a pure state of being.

(Rachel)

Making your way out of the shaft, you find yourself in a dark room, you can hear the chanting coming from nearby. Footsteps can be heard outside in the hallway.

"Then your coming with me."

I contact the team again,

"I heading to the Pysch Ward, and from there I should be able to make my way to you."

I move around in the room, away from the footsteps.

"well that doesen't sound good, a club of flesh eaters great!
you got any idea whats in this syringe?"
*gaz examines the syringe

(Rachel)

As you move into the darkness, the two figures stop in front of the doorway, sniffing the air. "I smell something..."

(UN TEAM)

The syringe is filled with a clear fluid, rather like a mutagen.

"hmm a mutagen mabey do you wana have it ray?"

"Yes actually, thanks Gaz. I know it's confusing but could you actually refer to me as James, it was my name before all of the sh*t hit the fan and I was brainwashed."

"Do you know whats in the Psych Ward? I don't want to walk staright into a hell hole."

(Varz)

He giggles; "The Psych Ward is a hell hole! I should know, I just came from there!"

I curse in my head and bite my lip, readying my pistol.

Barreling around the corner come a pair of spindly men, one brandishes a wrench with murderous intent, the other aims a shotgun. "Meat! It's mine!" The one with the wrench swings at your head.

As you enter through the doorway, you can hear a voice from further in. "I CAN SMELL YOU! COME OUT! COME OUT!"

I shoot him in the head, and two more shots for good measure to keep him down.

"Gaz, I need some help with this, tell me, how can I meet up with you. I am not sure where to go, but I am near the Psych Ward."

Three pale figures dressed in an assortment of clothes and wielding a collection of ragtag firearms and melee weapons.

"Gaz? F**k perhaps I have lost connection. Gaz?!"

"F**k I'll speak to you later. Just try and live for the time being."

I try to find another way to get deeper into the facility.

I return fire aiming for one of their heads. " A bullet to the brain would be a gift to these fraks." 5

The top of the wrench wielder's head is torn off him by the force of the powerful handgun, covering the wall in his grey matter, his pale body hitting the ground with a thud. The attacker with the shotgun sprays the room with pellets, but your armor absorbs the shot.

(UN TEAM)

James' shot goes wild, smashing a potted plant, and the pale attackers come at you with great haste. Now that you can see them up close, you notice the sickly pallor about their flesh and their sunken eyes. The flesh around their mouths hangs loose, exposing their teeth.

"Damn*" I yell trying to allign the shot. I shoot again. 7

A door stands before you, as well as an open vent.

"1 down..." I mutter and aim for the shooter.

I put my ear up to the door to liste for anything inside.

The pair of freaks go down in a hail of gunfire, but you can hear more making their way to the lobby.
