@Pacific, I'm pretty interested myself I'll let you know here when I get them, and the pictures will find their way onto my dakka P&M blog once I've got some fixed up. May take a bit yet, the order status still read "in production" so I'm guessing that I'm in some kind of queue for the laser cutter.
Today was spent watching the final hours of MA kickstarter, a pretty good finish, and so many more toys coming my way
The rest of the day was devoted to prepping for and playing Deadzone with a buddy. With the baby interrupting and us being n00bs at the rules (and having to walk a few feet to my computer to check up on some rules...) it took a couple of hours to play. I'm sure actual games are going to fall well under an hour, but it was a pretty fun experience.
Today i'm drilling out bolter and assault cannon barrels. 92 of them to be exact. God fething help me.
If, by the grace of god, i manage to finish that and still have some hobby time left this evening, i'll be checking on a batch of minis merrily bathing in some purple power, and if i still have some time after that, probably finish up some basing of some Dark Angels.

May the emperor keep your bit straight.
I get upset after doing like 10 barrels, can't imagine 92 at one go.
I sometimes paint at Burger King, and the folks that have commissioned the minis often come in to watch it happen.
Two of the managers at Burger King are now among my customers....
My girlfriend wants me to start doing charcoal sketches in the park - she thinks that my sketching will improve, and that I will sell my first sketch before leaving the park.
That I have a magical ability to have people pop out of nowhere and buy stuff of of me....
The Auld Grump, she was there when the managers commissioned the figures.... She's an artist, I'm not.
If I manage to move after work hours and gym and a bit of study, most likely continue painting the FWSW Venerable Dread: Why, oh why, the banner has so many bone colored stuff, it's yet another color from hell!
Yellow, white and bone, these colors are just, uuuuurrrgh.

Thanks man !
I think he was with me... bit only slipped on 2 barrels, one right at the start, so you can't even tell. The other did happen to get messed up, but ya know what.... only having to re-do one more bolter out of 92, i'll take it.
The assault cannon barrels were especially nerve wracking, as i didn't have any spares for those lying around !

Do it! My problem isn't that I am terrible at updating, it is that I barely work on models so I have nothing to update!
Well last night I got all my rhino chassis but one glued together (holy feth those kits suck). The one that I have left still needs some painting done to it before I can assemble it.
I also started working on getting all the options magnetized for the razorbacks and predators. If I keep this pace up, everything should be in primer by the end of the week, may even have some paint on them. Tonight my goal is to finish the turrets on the razorbacks.
I am planning on painting some of the older metal Ogryn models that I've stripped and rebuilt. One down, and six more to go. They aren't exactly that useful in today's edition, but darn it, I like the models. Harks back to when I first got in the hobby. Certainly helps break up the monotony of painting a bazillion Guardsmen. And it gives me an excuse to try my hand at Green Stuff and silly conversions.
Based and sprayed the chaos cultists I bought like a year ago! Trying out the "pre shading" method of using white and black sprays to make a gradient on the model, and then going to paint mostly with washes. Looking forward to it! Already have some daemons ready to go.

Better than my problem, which is trying to get people to comment on a historical-game blog! Seriously considering renaming my FoW army blog as "BLUE ULTRAMARINES 40K MATT WARD DRAIGO DEATHSTAR" just to get some fething comments on the damned thing
My biggest problem with commenting on threads is that I immediately lose interest in a thread if it's photos aren't hosted on Dakka. It's a weird distinction for sure, but when people use imgur, flickr, photobucket, etc... I can't see them, but Dakka's gallery is fair game since Dakka itself isn't work blocked, so if your stuff isn't hosted on Dakka, then I ain't interested
Have you got a link to your thread anywhere Pacific? I like historical blogs (though WW2 isn't my favourite period) and would take a look! It's a shame fantasy and historicals get less attention on the board though. It's hard to build up a community around it when all the blogs are so heavily 40K biased.
I painted one Hive Tyrant, and based it. Same with a Venomthrope... Only a clearcoat and a wash away from done! Now, to do the same to 2 more tyrants, and 7 Carnifexes, and allll the magnetized weapons. And 3 more venomthropes.
30% completion is a lot better than "a big pile of plastic and pewter" They look good, dunno about specifics on which to comment (like, well they really look like mid-war germans, and your camo pattern is off by 15 degrees ), but they look pretty cool
How much does an army like that run, if I may ask? I think there's a guy in town who does historicals and I might have to make a switch in gears if I want to have any wargaming opponents.
Flames of War? It's decently cheap since no one can get protected works on WWII in the same way that GW can with Fantasy and 40k. The Open Fire starter is a pretty solid buy for 70 bucks, comes with 2 armies (Germans and Brits) that are close to 1000 points (I think it's closer to 750), some cheap cardboard terrain, and the rules. From there you can buy Plastic Soldier Company kits to save on some money, and have 2 decent armies for like 250 bucks total?
I'm visiting a buddy this weekend and we're going to play a 2k game with a baneblade added on top of each of our forces (we both play guard but different strategies/tactics)
Here's everything I'm working on at the moment, hopefully I'll get this finished up over the next few weeks. Sorry for the bad photos, professional photographer I I'm not.
I began work on my newest Tyranid Prime. Body is now good to go, and repositioned arms are ready for installation. But I have to make the lower arm sockets a bit bigger, then magnetize the upper sockets for gun options.
Hoping to get this one in primer by tonight.
-edit- Built! But not primed. Looks pretty good, if I do say so myself. Anyone care for a photo?
Those are very nice Rolt, you certainly have some sculpting skills! Dare say there would be a market for 'sci-fi fish-head manga women' if you were so inclined..

Anything from £20-£40 for the most 'elite' force (box of Tiger tanks), up to a couple of hundred £ if you were to buy a Strelkovy force (Soviet infantry horde) if you were to buy from Battlefront. You can certainly get a nice mixed force for well under £100 if you go for PSC plastics.. I went for some of these, with a mix of about 3-4 company's stuff (and one indulgence of BF Mobile Rockets) which came to about £120 or so for a complete army, including money spent on paints and stuff.
Working, but I'll be keeping my eyes out for interesting random junk to use in my entry for Skalk's Junk pile terrain contest. I highly recommend you guys take a look and consider joining. There are several levels of judging, so feel free to play to your talents or join me at the low end for cultist
And then I'm going to keep checking my email and wondering my my Litko bases have been in production for nearing two weeks =/
I have a whole day at it today. Tasks done so far include prepping the last three marines in a tac squad, prepping my next 10 night gobbos, and making a press mold for my shoulder insignia. Jobs still to do are finish off a bunch of spider riders (just eyes to do), dip said spiders, and make a start on painting my aleph starter.
I did some painting last night, I'll be posting the pic (still a bit of a WIP) on my P&M blog, which has been silent for a few days now :-\
Don't feel unmotivated. Not everyone is able to post stuff on a daily basis and considering how many eager hobbyist DakkaDakka has, your thread is bound to slowly move to the older pages. It just happens

I know, the last post was on last Thursday, so 5 days. The back and forth I've been having with people on my blog has been awesome, but it's been on my end that content has slacked. Which is usually my issue with these blogs. Yesterday though I was like, "I need to paint, I gotta update my blog." Which was was motivation enough to sit down and paint for about an hour or so. So I call that a win in my book
Today I am moving hobby stuff out of my room, and putting it in the now hobby room. It will have to be moved again soon, as the closet in the hobby room needs some new shelves very badly.
If I find motivation and am not too distracted by video games tonight (new computer), I will probably work on finishing the last rhino chassis of my current BT stuff. That will be nice, as I can finally get painting!
Today I'm aiming to finish prepping and undercoating 20 vintage night gobbos (1st half of my vintage block), get a couple of marines undercoated, finish 5 spider riders (just eyes needed, then dip), and continue painting my dakini tacbot. Fairly productive yesterday, so I'll see...

today is for doing some more detail and shading work on the Deathshroud, priming the FMC Daemon Prince and doing some sketches for the junk pile contest
I did! I need to upload it to the gallery, and should be updating my blog a little bit later today. I'd like to get a banner made so I can just throw a link to it in my sig and make it look pretty, but I am not a pro with the photoshops.

You can try doing what I did: Use something else give the site that's in my banner a try. Their free version is pretty darn good, I don't mind carrying around their link for some publicity.
Hmm, that banner looks pretty solid. Still inclined to make my own, I'm stubborn like that May wait till I have some nice deadzone scenery put together to make for a more dramatic back drop
If I get time today, working on my junk pile has priority, although I may play around with my clear bases if those come in.
Light blue and light blue highlight (probably light blue and white)
Metal and metal highlight (probably runefang and whatever)
Gray and gray highlight
Lazy leather highlight on various wraps and ropes
Black on the base rims to cover up mistakes
Sealer
Bits of flock
These, along with another tactical squad (painting in progress) and 2 Dreadnoughts make up my first 1k Dark Angels list. Had 2 sets of AoBR marines that I had never done anything with so thought I'd put them to good use.
Also trimming backpack mold lines from Chapter Master and another Tac Squad before these are ready for priming.
Got the base coats down and the first bit of shading done last night on the fallen aquilla terrain piece. Plan on finishing that off tonight... then who knows. I have a bunch of Chaos Cultists I still need to paint. That may have to happen.
Finally fired up the airbrush and basecoated the rest of my Red Hunter army. 20 Assault Marines, 10 Sanguinary Guard, 10 Vanguard Veterans, 4 Characters for a 2000 point army all a smooth coat of Khorne Red now. They will be my holiday down time paint project. Being a construction contractor there is the inevitable down time for my regular work so I'll fill it with a commission painting project and the Red Hunters for myself. Seeing that they are entirely jump infantry based from the Blood Angel book they will probably never see a victory in 6th...
So far I've painted the flame model for an Assault Enforcer, and done the basecoat and sword blades for another 3 Assault Enforcers. Don't wanna overkill it, as I need something to do tomorrow, and I only brought 6 models. I brought 10 last week to work and got nothing done. 6 come along this time and 1 is done, 3 more are half done. Gotta pace myself.

I've been working on my Ogres a little. Touching up a few of the old ones, and a bit of work on the ones that are newly gaining paint. My wife bought me some sheet styrene yesterday so I've also been making some custom movement trays for their KoW units. Of course, the cat is now sleeping on that chair so I'm unable to paint for a little while.
Automatically Appended Next Post: ...Rolt. Just... wow.
Well in that case... If I get the chance today, I'll be re-basing some corporation marines onto clear acrylic disks. And maybe looking into making some extra steel warriors cause its a thing to do.
Selling everything I have, buying the Tau firebase support cadre and researching colour schemes. It's that sort of sad, sort of exciting type of hobby day
Finally got around to priming my Daemon Prince, scrubbed some GK I had soaking in simple green, and finished flocking the bases of some CSM that I painted a while back... not feeling motivated to do any 'serious' hobby stuff today
I've been making a bit of progress lately. Tonight I want to finish up my second in command for a tac squad, and start the initial drybrush of the first 20 in my vintage night gobbo unit.
I'm working on a display base for my current resin GK kit. Slow going since I don't have access to any power tools at the moment to get the templates cut out. Doing all the cutting with X-acto knives and hand sanding. Its taking forever.
Sprayed my Dark Vengeance Chosen and Lord, finished painting a unit of 10 Plaguebearers. Have to say, having done them, I really like the new plastic kit. Goes together really well, has great detail and character, and takes paint really well too. A big step up from the Bloodletters I painted last week!
Painting a landraider, drop pod, predator, and a rhino Imperial Fist colors. Down to painting 2 tac squads, 3 HQ's and another drop pod after this painting session. Thanksgiving break is really nice to get caught up.
Painted another enforcer in the middle of Cleveland international airport. Lol. If anyone needs to know, yes, you can fly with GW paints. I brought 6 and had no issue. Just showed the security guys and they were cool with it.
Today I assembled some guardsmen and cold one knights. I recently came into some painted cadian snipers and a metal crusader that all need stripping so they are soaking in the green. I'm going to be assembling and stripping for quite some time. I hadn't realized I had "painted" almost all of my guard when I was young. and simple green avoids boubonic brown like the plague.
Finished up some fine details on my two grenadier squads. Basing them up and taking photos after lunch. After that I'll start some greenstuff work on a light infantry squad as well as prep the sergeants and advisers for painting.
Today I assembled some Pink Horrors. I gotta say they kinda suck to put together when compared to the awesomeness that is the Plaguebearers. I figure they'll be less fun to paint too. I could easily do another 20 plaguebearers before I got bored!
I think I will pick up some Daemonettes soon just to complete the "basic troops" for Daemons. Sort of accidental because I'm not collecting a Daemon army, they just looked interesting to paint!
... more basecoating for the Tau. 4th day in a row i've forced myself to just f'in do it.
I might prime my kroot instead to give myself a break so i don't get burned out (and yes, 4 days in a row is possibly enough to burn me out on painting for a while. I'm hyper critical of my own work and anal retentive about it, and i'm a slow painter to boot. It's an epically terrible trifecta of traits to possess when you want to paint).
Suffice to say, my life expectancy decreased not before I was done, but I was 'content' with the results.
I'm building up a small points 600 army for a doubles tourney coming up, luckily I managed to get together with a guy playing Praetorians, and in writing my list it looks like I'm going for an Al'Rahem/light infantry theme subconsciously no matter what I do. I've decided to flesh out my otherwise currently bland IG into a reconnaissance/scout regiment, also planning to use German WW2 style twig/bush camouflage on the helmets.

Well, thanks very much for the prompt mate have added a sig, and also for the comment on the blog!
More basecoating on the menu tonight for my Farsight Enclave Tau. Started the Riptide last night, found i actually enjoy painting the damn thing. Not nearly as daunting as i thought it was going to be !
Today I need to base coat a marine, assemble a painted marine and dry brush 20 gobbos. If there is time, I'll be making a start on highlighting the million tiny panels on my Aleph Asura.
Stamping my feet in frustration while everyone else around here seems to be getting their shipping notifications for deadzone!
Also, burning money on Miniature Market's black friday sales, damn deals are bad for my wallet!
Additionally, I rebased 10 corporation marines to clear acrylics, may do a few more after a bit. Still eying my extra steel warriors too, they build and paint so fast.
Screen shot or it didn't happen! And that goes for all of you guys I've found a lot of good hobby blogs in this thread already, but I know that more of you have them! So shamelessly plug away, that's most of the fun I find in dakka, everyone's lovely hobby blogs

I think I'm going to start one soon. I've been looking through a bunch lately, and as much as I paint (notice I said as much, not how well) I would have almost daily updates.
Not going to start a hobby blog, I need to improve my painting and photograpy skills first. But maybe one I will start one. Lord knows I have enough stuff sitting around to fill one

Painted some dudes today. Unsure whether to use a slightly-orangey brown as a secondary armour camo, or to go full out and do something like this to avoid just painting what looks like Kasrkins:
Just unpacked and sorted about 40 west wind and the assault group samurai and about 8 monks.Going to paint an Ashigaru firing line tonight and dot in some Samurai into the unit.
I will continue painting my 10xflesh hounds squad(warriors of chaos hounds). I m looking forward to finish them off before my Fateweaver order from GW arrives hurrayyyy!
Wishing I had bought the new technical paints yesterday....specifically the oxide and rust paints. All the shops are closed today for football and face stuffing. I will still put more paint on the foam core DIY ruins I made a week ago. A four piece set I am calling the Reichstag for now. Looking pretty sexy so far.
Knight Forscale has white in him, gotta do the layering for that plus red trim and metals. Put yellow down on my junk pile now I need to decide if I wanna keep spraying or if its brush time. Almost done swapping corporation marines to their clear acrylics.
Testing out some crackle medium I got from the art supply store. It still needs to dry properly but at $15 for 250ml rather than GWs $6 for 12ml I'm already convinced I made the right choice.
I also tried out some ground pigments as a weathering powder but I'm not as happy with that (yet).

How was that kit to put together? It seemed like a major pain in the arse more than anything.
Tonight, I'll probably be cleaning up my hobby hole. I need to get some priorities straight in terms of what I have and what I need to do... Also throw some models into simple green because I think my primer fethed them up (paint is beading up like sweat on a well oiled lifeguard).
trying to figure out how I should go about customizing my Thunder wolves, the stock figures are nice, but I want something a bit more individual.
beside that I am planning to put the last few touches on my RUne priest and perhaps one of the Contemptor Dreads I have standing around waiting to be finished

The kit went together very easy, but I fethed up the neck. I have it looking too high, and it interferes with the "back armor" that goes on top. Things you learn.
I'm finishing up an Iron Snakes tactical squad, just a little work to go on the bases. The Snakes shoulder insignia's I got from BoLS look ok. Ran out of transfer paper so the tactical arrows will have to wait.
You are still bleeding? If you are trimming plastic models, where in the world is your superglue? If you are *still* bleeding, you had better take care of that business army style
Yesterday I flocked all of the enforcers I had painted already, today I'm flocking my suppression team of them. Will put me at 22 painted and based by the end of tonight.
GrimDork wrote: Sounds like you are making some headway But didn't you say you had 70 or 90 or something before deadzone? Oh well, 22 less than that now
Haha. Too true. I have 2 5-man strike teams done: one with a blast rifle and assault blade, one with a missile launcher and energy gauntlet; one assault squad with a flamer; a suppression squad with 4 missile launchers and 2 Enforcer Captains done. Except the final color on one suppression model and his base.
That's a fair force already of enforcers You will have to loan your opponents Enforcer allies just to use even a modest portion of your eventual super human horde Maybe not though, warpath 3.0 is supposedly going to have 100 models on a side, or what 50 enforcers :p
Trying to finish magnetizing my Predator and finish his paintjob, anyone got tips on what tool to use to get the magnet holes right? I have a dremmel tool I can use but I dont wana go at it all willy nilly till I can be sure it will do the job right.
I'll post pics in the Mantic subsection, Grimdork. Might give you an idea where to cut the arms to put the energy gauntlets on without looking abnormal when your enforcers come in. No greenstuff necessary, they look like the gauntlets are naturally on the model.
And I do hope a game of Warpath lets me field all my enforcers. I might have to lend an opponent all 200 or so of my marauders when that happens (including Deadzone marauders).
I'm trying to bling out my models a bit, but we get a bit spoiled for choice with the gorgeous DE sprues. I just went for basic assembly, and now I'm going back through to finish them up before painting.
Might drop you a line when i figure out what i actually have
Tonight I will be painting some guardsmen for my allies to my BA army. Also, probably gonna try to work on some Chaos hounds I've built but haven't done anything else to. I need to at least get them primed I suppose.
Just finished clear coating my first squad of tactical marines.
Have to take a break from painting 40k to paint more 28mm samurai for Ronin. Need 2 mounted guys and at least 1 foot with katana to give my lists more teeth. Using Perrys and figuring a way for those mounted samurai to look like hatamoto with a minimum on extra bits. Where there's a will there's a way.

Nah, not as long as it's not on the expense of others (albeit it usually is )
I'm cleaning my painting area. I'm supposed to clean the entire apartment, but first things first.
Most of my hobbies are at a detriment to my other hobbies. Playing 40k recently? Not painting Bolt Action. Just got in a new KS reward? Not building things for another game, that sort of thing. HeroClix, like X-Wing has become a sort of, "hey we've got an hour to kill, and I don't feel like setting anything else up, let's play this instead" game for my play group, it just so happens that I've found another few people that play HeroClix so I can play it locally instead of where I normally game (which is an hour from where I live, but 15 minutes from work).
I meant on the expense of other people. I haven't met many clix players, but the ones I have met have been incredibly rude and disagreeable guys, and I've seen people on the internet have had the same impression of 'em. That's what I was referring to. In all humour of course.

Oh, lol
Yeah, if they're rude SOBs, I'll just not show up anymore, and inform the store owner why I showed up and then stopped showing up .
Alfndrate wrote: I'm playing HeroClix tonight... I'm not sure if I should feel dirty about this or not.

I said that same thing about firestorm armada players
Yeah, HeroClix is decently popular and appeals to a different type of crowd than your standard dakkanaut (i.e. non-collectable games like 40k/WMH/etc... I mean the HeroClix line is one of the top 5 collectible games on the market atm, only falling behind Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Pokemon.
I mean I've played like 3 games of HeroClix, and they've all been random games where I've borrowed a buddy's figures for a game since he's really into HeroClix. Currently atm it allows me to play painted minis against other painted minis without having to assemble them or paint them. Two things I don't mind doing, but time is tight and I'd rather play a game than paint.

Touche... good comeback . Hoping to change that about FSA though, atleast in my gaming community.
timetowaste85 wrote: Yeah, Clix is popular in my new area, but I can't figure out why. Oh well. I tried watching a game, and it's just not for me.
I'm trying to figure out what makes it popular. From our standpoint as hobbyists, the models are generally subpar sculpts, the paint jobs are low tabletop at best to complete gak at worst, there is always a new version of your favorite model coming out from a different arc, movie, timeline, etc... so there is almost always a need to be updating (apparently).
But from a gameplay standpoint, it's not terrible. You can only activate so many models per turn, models can activate basically once every other turn (unless you choose to tactically damage them to get an extra turn out of them before you have to 'clear them'). So you have to think about activation order, combo order, line of sight, etc... The special powers are standardized across the board, like Iron Man and Thor might both have Running Shot as an ability, but the game will call them something different like Energy Blast(Running Shot) and Hammer Throw(Running Shot), you get bonuses for playing thematically, and the game is otherwise pretty simple to pick up.
Is it something that I'm gonna be hardcore for? Nah, but it gives me something to do with my friends that isn't our usual stuff.
Yes, I suppose it's another side-niche of hobby type games, and connected in the same way that board or card games are. A lot of crossover, but I think you also get fans from one or other camp that have no interest in the other.
New updates on my "BLOOD SPACE WOLVES 10 RIPTIDES RIDING STORMRAVENS ARMADEGON " thread, (click the 'Flames of War' banner below )
Had an interesting time last night playing HeroClix, turns out that they only play tournaments on Wednesdays. I might still show up, treating it like I do Magic Tournaments (a 'cheap' way to force myself to play a game that I don't normally play). Showed up late after sitting in a traffic jam for 40 minutes (seriously, 5 miles in 40 minutes), had to create 3 teams using literally almost everything I owned. While I lost every game, I largest loss was by 70 points, with my smallest loss literally by 2 clicks of damage (third round opponent and I didn't get into combat till like the end of the round). Guys were decent enough bunch, saw some kitbashed figures, got some prizes. Had a solid, fun time.
Tonight? Working on some Brushfire stuff, and maybe building some more mkIII Marines for my Minotaurs.
I've noticed in the smaller games, tourneys tend to have few of tfg. Atleast when you're avoiding 40k (there's a reason I avoid 40k tourneys anymore) and magic. I enjoy the x-wing tourneys a lot here and when I was in highschool getting into Mage Knight I went to a couple tourneys and the people tended to be nicer in that as well.
On topic. Hopefully finishing my 3 dindrenzi ships today... delays delays, the admiral isn't happy.
I spent this morning finishing up my rust & corrosion practice pieces. I will be applying an effect like this to my Daemon Prince over the next couple of weeks.
Dipped some gobbos, accidentally throwing one into a snow drift. Fished it out, and put it on the radiator to melt the snow off. It fell down the back of the radiator, gathering a load of fluff as it went. It's now ruined. I'm not doing any more hobby stuff today. :(

silver lining, use the opportunity to make him an undead goblin instead? I mean, what better way to start a new army/mercenary force for Triumph & Treachery...
The goblin.. once lost to the snow... tossed into the raging heat of a fluff loving radiator... to be reinvigorated, to strike fear into the hearts of those who once held him dear.. or held him in slave like servitude.. whatever, same thing
He he. I've had a look at him, and I may be able to rescue him. I'll let the dip dry, debase him and see if its salvageable or if it is a dunk in the dettol.
Today I placed several orders for my Irken "counts as Tau" army. Grey aliens from Zombiesmith (I'll drill holes into their heads and glue wire antennas into their heads), Grymm Walkers from Hasslefree (it'll take quite a bit of conversion, but they'll make great Megadoomers), all sorts of robots from Hydra Miniatures (they'll require head swaps, but they'll make great SIR units), and some Leviathans from Dreamforge games (to be used as the giant robots Zim uses to cause a rather abrupt end to Operation: Impending Doom 1).
All the models will be smaller than their Tau equivalents, but if somebody gripes about me using different miniatures to represent a super fluffy army, I probably didn't want to game against them any way. They'll be on the correct bases too, so weapon ranges will be the same. Sure, it's unlikely that I'll be able to use them in a tournament, but they'll be a blast on the table.

At this point in my hobby career, that is all I care about It's all about the fun and enjoyment of the hobby for its own sake. Not that I have any grief with people who want to play in tournaments or who are really *really* picky about the rules, its just mutually agreeable that we don't play a game
I've been playing around with my mantic Enforcer suppression team. I've happily stumbled upon the fact that they take quite naturally to magnets, and there have been some (temporary) shenanigans
Spoiler:
Issue me an assault blade will you? No thanks, this'll do. It just about works, the limbs are similar in size and proportion, but aesthetic style is a bit off (and the weapons are no longer true scale!) and so on. Just fun
For anyone who isn't familiar with Mantics scifi models, the corporation marine on the right is almost exactly the same height as a space marine.
If I get any more time in the hobby dungeon, I'll be working on my junk pile for Skalk's terrain contest.
I have finished the parts for my BT Chapter Master. Next up is getting arms for 20 marines cleaned and ready for primer. Hopefully I can get this stuff in paint before the end of the month!
Have'nt had much time in the last few weeks... sad really, although I've been thinking of WFB and a Vampire Counts Army, so I grabbed up the new skellies boxed set, been tinkering with those models. Dissapointed about the bases, I could have sworn the old FB bases were big enough to place pennies on the bottom for weight.
Put together and idea of a hobby tray to pack my project around with me, so far so good, I've completed more work that way. Otherwise I'm up in the man room.

For the love of...where are my scout shotguns and a pair of clippers!! Nice job, GD!
I was trying to up-armor my scouts at one point, so that's a marine arm (blood angel maybe) with the scout shotgun attached at the wrist. But scout arms may well work on their own.
Used a bionic head from Anvil Industries as a head swap for my Torias Telion to make him look unique as a Raven Guard character. I might also swap his stalker pattern boltgun for an Umbra ferrox boltgun, if it fits.
And I bought some 2mm & 2.5mm drill bits so I can magnetise my Vanguard veterans.
Finally got the paint scheme down for my Warpath Enforcers, after going through 5 different variations. I started with Star Wars style white, then Halo UNSC green, then black, then blue and white, before finally settling on something that is similar to the 'official' scheme but far darker and dirtier. Grimdark hard sci-fi, if such a thing can exist.
2 down, 28 to go... and then Deadzone arrives and I can do it all over again...
Of course it can! Aliens setting was always grimdark with corporations wanting the alien as weapon and not caring about the peoples and all that. Grimdark can easily be separated from Scifantasy, its not just a warhammer thing
So uhh, you got pictures of these Enforcers anywhere? Looking for inspiration myself
No pics of the enforcers are the moment, I may try and get some over the weekend.
If a description helps at all, I've used a pale grey for the armour plates, a dark grey for the under-armour, and squad markings in yellow/orange. Then everything gets a very heavy black wash, and then another layer of black wash applied directly to seams, before another highlight on the grey. Takes around 30-40 minutes per model, one at a time. I could probably do a squad in 2 hours if I batch-painted, but for a fairly small army, I'd rather take it slow.
On a slightly off-topic note, I've never actually seen Aliens. Maybe I should just hand in my nerd-card now and go and watch it...
I quite like the first couple. The third one was less a favorite and I think I'd rather watch Jason X then ressurection . Actually no I'd rather stare at the wall.. no Jason X lol.
Scheme sounds like one I may try. I definitely want them to look like not-goodguys. Something to do with many washes, I have all 12 ghost tints and I'm not afraid to use them!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Maybe black and dark orange... won't match my corp marines but may look awesome
To be honest, I think the less the Enforcers match any Corp they're fighting alongside the better. The marines are owned by individual corps, the Enforcers are under direct control of the Council of Seven, I think, so are an entirely separate entity. It would add to the idea that, in the end, they are there either to keep an eye on the corp or because whatever they're up against is really dangerous. They're certainly not out to protect their fellow man.
There was a great fluff piece posted on the Mantic Blog today, featuring a guy running from the plague. He thinks he's been saved by the Enforcer, who then tells him to keep running as he's drawing out the mutants. So yeah, they are certainly not Good Guys.
Washes work awesomely well on the Enforcers thanks to the really crisp panel lines. Just block out the colours and then wash a couple of times and they'll look great. They practically shade themselves.
I've got another 3 done in the last hour, beginning to really get the hang of the paint scheme. I've now found the camera, so pics should be up tomorrow or Sunday, time permitting.
I just repainted my Daemon Price. I got sick of the super easy purple/golden/black paint job I did back when I started, and went for something more interesting instead.
I also based my traitor guardsmen finally. They've been standing on their empty bases far too long. I still need to add some "fauna" of some kind, but I'm yet to decide how that's going to look.
I might actually upload some pictures of my entire army into the gallery soon. The legion of slaanesh has grown quite large over the years.

Paradigm, when you do get that chance to take pictures, please feel free to post them in the Warpath/Deadzone thread I started in the Mantic subforum down the page. Helps give guys ideas for painting their stuff, and my Iron Man enforcers are feeling lonely over there.
Last evening: Got the three-color shadow/highlight base coat done on 10 28mm Tommies for Bolt Action.
Tonight, God willing: Working on barrels and crates as terrain for 28mm skirmish (Cutlass! and Muskets & Tomahawks).
Over the weekend, God willing: finishing detail work on 30 28mm Heer infantrymen for Bolt Action. They need their boots, helmets, gas mask containers, and packs done before the Army Painter Strong Tone sludge goes on.
Assembling and painting my friends Canadian army for Rapid Fire. Although he can pick models up, he cannot hold a modeling knife or paintbrush in order to make and paint the models.
Today, I've done more work on my vintage night gobbos. Should get them finished up tomorrow. Just teeth and eyes to do, then dip. Tomorrow, I've also got an extensive repair job on the calamitous musician.
So far today I have my arms done for special weapon guys in my crusader squads. The hands and weapons are magnetized so I can switch them out. Have to figure out how to do the melta gun, because there is no good way to get a drill in there to do it.
That leaves one terminator arm to glue on and finding my missing heavy weapons, and everything for my 1850 list is assembled! (2 years after I bought it)

And people say that chivalry is dead! I dare say thats very nice done of you. Your friend is lucky to have someone like you helping him out
I'm actually getting some work done on my Junk pile. Down to weathering/damage/whatever at this point mostly. Need to get it done before the 13th, and so I can start to work on enforcers again
Painting Grey Hunters, witch seems to be my never ending lot in life. And putting them on the new bases from Micro art studios, those resin bases are damned awesome I must say as a painter of medioce skills
Yeah, I originally bought them for Cutlass! (still haven't played) but I suppose they would be useful for AWi-era games, Old West games, steampunk (easy to imagine some 'jacks next to those), etc., etc. I also recently got a the Rorke's Drift set from Warlord so this could be useful there, too. Pictured are three sets ... which might have been one too many, really.
Word to the wise, this set is advertised for 28mm but I think they look better with 32-54mm figs.
So the barrels and crates are too big then? Its hard to tell without a mini for scale. I think they'd be pretty sweet for any docks encounter for a D&D group using models too
There are three sizes of barrels represented in the set. But the crates are the bigger concern. A crate can only be so big and still be reasonably carried by a team of men. The larger crates in this set are significantly bigger than coffins would be for 28mm dudes. It's not a big deal really -- just seems like they are a tad too big for 28mm.
If you want to see them next to a fig, check out the MicroArt Studio link I posed above.
By the way, Black Scorpion's Cutlass! range is in 32mm so I'll have no trouble there.
carlos13th wrote: Do you mind putting one next to some minis for scale?
Sorry didn't have a Space Marine handy. On the extreme left is a 32mm pirate from Black Scorpion. Next up a 28mm Heer infantryman from Warlord followed by a 28mm Norman archer from Gripping Beast. Finally, a bonejack.

I am sorry what? Un less the rules has changed over nigth that seems quite unplayebal due some rules, regarding the alligment of some of the said things.
I think I've fixed my Enforcers scheme, so I'm gonna push forward with that. Gotta put down the last touches on my junk pile and get some shots submitted to Skalk too.
Then I'll be trimming up some enforcers to which I'll hopefully be applying the new color scheme!

I think the version of Saruman in The Hobbit counts as a Good hero, allowing alliance with Elves and Eagles.

Ah I see, well seing how I have not obtained that particular book I suppose I stand corrected, good to know though

There is a PDF up on the GW site with all the Hobbit character and troop rules in it, there's no need to buy the new book.
- Building my Forgeworld full resin Stormsword (this doesn't half take some work - it's the old, tougher resin. It shatters knife blades and blunts saws like you wouldn't believe!)
- Building the rest of my Forgeworld resin tanks

Aye that is correct you can use saruman as a good hero according to the hobbit list on the gw website.
Should have probably made that a bit clearer in my original post! Sorry!
Deadzone assembly and all that is associated with it will be put on hold so I can paint up a few more figs for EFT. I'm playing dakkanaut Ramos Asura and probably his brother on Thursday, so I've got 3 nights to get my gak in order
^What hdbbstephen said! Basically done, gonna look it over one more time, matte seal it (which hopefully won't murder some of my more experimental techniques) and take pictures. We'll just have to see how those pictures go =/
Then, if there's any time, I've got a missile enforcer prepped to get his undercoat.
Its okay, I haven't gotten a tracking email yet, so I have no idea when mine is coming. It is kind of nice that way, keeps it a surprise! And allows me to finish some of my other projects hobbywise.
edit: Tonight I am cleaning up the room that has my hobby stuff in it, maybe some organizing of the hobby stuff, and if I feel like it, cleaning up 3 heavy bolters for my land speeders and finding my missing storm shields.
I still need to do a blog post too of the progress, but all the pictures are on my laptop, which I left at work today.
Orks won, and had a blast with my Stompa, but for the points i didn't think its effectiveness unfair. It was down to three HP at the end, and would have blown up long before the final turn (turn 5) if there hadn't been meks aboard.
CSM player found it to be awesome fun too, but then he borrows my orks from time to time also...
Cleaning up my hobbyspace while I ponder what I should spend some of my xmas bonus on, I am strongly leaning towards something for my Pike & SHot armies.
Tonight I'm gonna try to finish my inquisitor and his Chimera transport. I have a game this Saturday, so I need to get it done soon. His retinue will get done if I have time...

Tis a sad day indeed. We are looking at an apartment, and while it has some room for storage, I won't have a dedicated space really.
Today I receive deadzone, then must go right to work all day. I might allow myself some time to look through the box tonight after work, but I should really finish some work projects.
GrimDork wrote: I'll be packing up my hobby stuff for a move. Losing my hobby dungeon for more of a study. Might have to get an airbrush hood.
I had to do this about 2 months ago when we bought our house. Fortunately I got my own hobby room at the house, but its nerve wracking moving all those fragile minis that you've invested so much time in.
I'm pretty nonchalant about it, we don't stay in one place too long lately, for whatever reason. The only thing I'll be losing from the basement is playing area, and it's not idea due to low sealing and support pillars. The garages at the new house will be better for setting up a table, if a bit cold, and for displaying models likely. The study will be much warmer, I'll just have to manage my space well to have efficiency instead of clutter.
Played a game of LOTR followed by a mercyless game of Hail Caesare! It was a bloody day indeed for the Romans, while the Germanic tribes claimed many heads
