So yes i know this sounds a bit lame but today i picked up my first brand new death company set
am actually super excited to get started on this set, way too many ideas racing through my head
I finally cooled down when i decided to start up a blog with this project

i already picked out the prayer legs... then i rummaged through my little bits bin and pulled out the sanguinary guard
dual sided axe with wrist mounted bolter, grabbed an ordinary chest and im going to add prayers, and to finish it off its going to have a robbed head he is going to have a jump pack of course

sufficed to say, yes i had to get at least one guy sorted out before i could calm down, the squad is going to be an assault squad of course

i have my old school metal set for the non jumping DC im thinking about also adding my terminator (movie not unit) looking chaplain to the squad, i have an extra jump pack in my bits bin just add some chains should be awesome

similar ideas were occupying my mind for a good two hours, since i got home and opened the box, my first space marines were a squad of DC and this is the first time since then that i got another one, i seriously do love the stuff that come in the plastic sets, but at the same time i like the feel of the metal ones

please be advised, Lord Rahl has other projects waiting on the side lines that may interrupt this project, so do not be alarmed if all of a sudden he posts flayed ones, scourges, or any number of other xenos, but please expect work in progress photos to start appearing shortly

well a couple units have seen primer today, so in the mean time this is the chaplain i want to lead them into battle

so i ripped off his arm, it had a disgusting amount of glue, after i finished cleaning up that mess i grabbed a new arm, cut off the bp, and grabbed a storm bolter cut off its hand
he is going to sport a jump pack, and a BA shoulder pad from the DC box

i will upload more pics after i strip him

first pair of legs are are painted up

i forgot to take pictures of each layer, i followed the traditional pattern so far, im contemplating trying a glaze on the blood vials, and i guess he needs writing on his scroll
im going to do it all that at the same time i do it for the torso, i added a scroll to a blank torso from another set, i'll add the pic in my next post, hopefully with the next pair of legs

between coats i started on a cultist i had sitting on the sidelines for a while, and got started cutting up necron legs for my flayed conversion

i know the cultist doesn't look like much just yet, just has the base layer for his leather

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/02/27 18:02:45

Post by: LordRahl

so i didnt get much done last night,
i added some details to the next pair of legs,

the first layer of the blood drops, and the cloth, ropes, see not much

this is what i ended up doing for the body the pic is before the base coat

and of course i did some work on my brothers cultist

second coat on the leather, added some colour in his eyes, finished off his power pack, first layer of skin, added scab red to his scars

but sadly i didnt get any work done on the chaplain

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/03/01 20:09:28

Post by: LordRahl

ok so i didnt get much done last night, i had a bit of a busy couple of days, but i did manage to practically finish off the second pair of legs,
and now both chests are primed, i primed an old school raptor, touched the chaplain

this cultist is practically done, did some work on the skin and washed it, he just needs some touch ups and he's done

i picked up a kijiji lot, with some raptors and jump marines, im going to strip the assault marines, because i dont wanna work with a blue base coat, besides there were two with a bad layer of purple ontop
which i started stripping... these im going to try a deadpool paint scheme on these guys for a commission, so im using watered down thinner with short dunks between scrubbing

anyway thats it for today's update, feel free to comment, and stay tuned for more updates, as my DC gets more interruptions

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/03/02 17:26:33

strip row update:
so i started painting his legs, it has its first red layer, and so does the head
im not sure you will guess the the inspiration for this paint scheme

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/03/03 16:20:14

Post by: LordRahl

well here is my update i got some work done on the scroll marine torso
excuse my rushed camera skills, i have to really play with the settings for it to focus properly

not much to say here painted up the torso, just needs the rivets, maybe add a couple blood vials, and of course to be glues together
after the rest of the model is finished im going to have to do some writing on the scroll

lets not forget the chaplain with the jump pack, base layer of the face and sculls are done, started up on the gold, dark red holster

a bit scary eh? i can already see him all painted up, going to start on his arm soon!

the final part of the update, strips rows first stripped jumper is painted up,

bet you can tell this is a deadpool commission even with the bad photo
this first one is going around with two bolt pistols, the arm is painted up and his body was finished up
the second guy on strip row has been stripped, im giving them new arms and saving these arms for ultra marines
except for the purple ones who need to be stripped or saved for terrain....

that's it for this update, again sorry for the bad quality photos

i didnt get much done on my DC squad, just did the writing on the scrolls
but the first of the DP jump squad is finished, i think it turned out pretty well
for a stripped model, im going to use new shoulder pads on the rest of the squad

I’ve got that chaplain, lovely sculpt.

Coming together nicely!

Death company update! the second body is done, the axe is done
writing on the scrolls are done, i should have taken a pic before adding the arms
he is just missing the jump pack, head and shoulder pad

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/03/09 17:19:51

Post by: LordRahl

well after missing a day here is a little update
i did some work on the chaplain as you can see

ok so i still haven't worked on the arm but the main body is almost finished
im going to finish up the gold and touch up the black then work on the arm

(jeez the gold looks really bad in the pic )

well the axe wielder is just missing the jump pack

his face is a little darker than what i was going for, but i still like it
i kind of wish they had more scull shoulder pads but this one is cool too

well i did start the second deadpool jumper but not much done painting wise yet
i finished a second jump pack, i wanted to reposition the leg a bit, two of them are going to have a bigger repositioning job
one will be doing a cannon ball, the other will be just as filled with giggles

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/03/12 15:49:59

Post by: LordRahl

small update today,
i got a bit of priming done, my metal themed nids are going to get a "little" more back up
i have a hand full of units probably just enough for a small game, but i have a big bug to add to their ranks
i got a bit more work done on the chaplain

he needs a couple touch ups

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/03/13 18:09:53

Post by: LordRahl

thanks to some crafting wire and green stuff the deadpool squad has an update

the second guy just needs his arms done, and the third guys pose is pretty cool
i drilled into the leg, glued the wire into place, applied some greenstuff and a day later i primed it

major distraction from working on my DC....

i got this guy recently, opened him up and washed the main body, i have primed the tail and the lower body sections that touch the base black
i dont really collect tyranids, but this guy was just too awesome to pass up (it also helped that it came in a lot with grey knights) im thinking im going to magnetize between his upper and lower torso so that i can use him for conversions later (slanesh princess, and other fun stuff)

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/03/19 03:25:22

Post by: LordRahl

let me start off with a DC update,

the chaplain got his arm and jump pack done and attached
im hoping to get some 3D transfers and attaching them to the jump pack
he got BA shoulder pad from the DC box, storm bolter from the same set
im kinda disappointed that one of the shoulder pads is mostly covered up by the jump pack
such a waste, i'll take a better picture when i base him, im going to get it done at the same time as the squad
and i might give him a bigger base, his boot keeps getting scratched up somehow

next up i had worked a bit on a grey knight

my GK's are all special this one has flames one one boot, a glove on the opposite hand, and on his helm
although i do like the metal models, the back packs they come with are bleh, so im giving him a left over one from the plastic GK kit
i just noticed im running low on elf grey, i gotta figure out what its new name is or i will be in trouble!

the deadpool squad has all its bodies painted up, just gotta finish up some arms and jump packs, then a bit of basing

You might want to thin your whites a little, it looks chalky. I hate painting white for that reason. If you don’t put on a zillion thin coats it always looks rough. Love the hazard stripes on the incinerator.

I hear you about the JP hiding the shoulder on the chaplain. Such if the price we pay to have him leaping over the battlefield purging our enemies, rather then footslogging across the battlefield.

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/03/22 00:14:11

Post by: LordRahl

@nevlon - the paint itself is very thin, i had forgot that it gets chalky on metal models

DP marine update!

this commission is almost complete, i had a couple set backs with the green stuff
i added a couple shoulder pads and arms from the DC marine pack
its been a while since i applied any transfers, i forgot what i use to apply on top of the shoulder pad
so they dont fall or get scratched up, just a few more jump packs before i base the rest of the squad

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/03/23 18:29:20

Post by: LordRahl

another DP marine update!

so this is how i went with the sword kind of a galaxy look to it, idk i like it, and below is the completed squad
i really need a better photography set up, i fixed the settings on the camera, but the beige back ground is not helping

rear:

now i can get back to focusing on my death company! and finish up my brothers scourges!

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/03/23 18:40:56

Man that background and 6th book cover is giving off the most wonderful shade of puke green iv ever seen

the paint job looks nice but its getting tinted baddly

try a black or white background

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/03/24 15:18:11

Post by: LordRahl

ok so i moved them to another room with better lights, a white background, but without a tripod
but for some reason, the photo turned out grainy

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/03/24 15:31:49

Post by: Desubot

From What little i know you might have too little light or just too zoomed in.

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/03/24 18:30:06

Post by: LordRahl

its wasn't digital zoom,
two spot lights in front and a spiral light ontop
i guess i have to play with my camera settings some more
i seriously hate auto focus... i wouldn't need to activate 4 different settings to get it to focus properly

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/04/23 04:20:59

Post by: LordRahl

ok im just coming out of a painting rut
did a bit of work on the DC, and started something new
almost done fixing the haqslam shoulders (apparently i had the wrong arms wth)

this is my newest project that got me out of my painting funk,
syria's freedom flag, the top shall will have dove feathers, and im thinking of giving her a giant pen?
fighting for freedom even after all the pain she has endured

more updates to come

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/04/28 01:35:10

Post by: LordRahl

im back,
did some more work on my freedom fighter
here she is just needing some touch ups

now the front

im quite content with how the converted arms turned out
so with Razan Zaitonehs birthday coming up, i thought i would dedicate this model to her
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Happy-Birthday-Razan/1597348203836799?ref=notif¬if_t=fbpage_fan_invite
so this is a quick mock up of the picture i want to take of this model

ill add better lighting, hopefully more rubble, ghost around the edges, and photoshop the flag in there maybe photoshop in a couple cats...

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/04/29 02:04:45

Post by: LordRahl

ok so here is the final image,
better lighting, more rubble, almost perfect

did some more work on the DC just have the head and arms left on two the last one still hasn't seen paint
poor DC keeps getting pushed back to finish other projects
hopefully i will finish them up by the end of the month

maybe i'll get back to my trygon!

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/05/06 16:25:36

Post by: LordRahl

updates have been slow...
fortunately the death squad i started the blog for is almost finished
many many distractions so far, for example im fixing up a devastator

as you can see all thats left is his pack,
and i panted him white death company colors
he had a scout bolter before, and i wasn't proud of the paint job so
strip and paint, give him a stern bolter with drilled out barrel
and an actual HB pack, imo he looks much better

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/05/09 15:35:41

Post by: LordRahl

ok so updates should start coming out regularly every couple days
so my white death devistator is all finished and can rejoin his freinds
the rest were some of my first paint jobs so dont judge

i didnt know i cant field things such as a stormzooka,
and i never finished my energy scythe so when i redo him that will poof

and before i forget i decided on the length for my hover bike hood...
finally...

now i gotta figure out a nice way of making the vent screen,
ideas would me helpful, the jump pack ones are a little small
the hood still needs alot of work, sanding and shaping
there will be a console and guns added... lots of guns
so any cheap little trick for the intake vent would be nice

unfortunately business had pulled me away from my workbench for a couple weeks

but i have returned, did some work on a wraith, i think the tail is pretty neat made from drill shavings
added the shoulder pads will need a bit of sanding, im working on three unique wraiths this would be the second of the set

moving on i started painting this sorcerer that i impulse bought at a GW grand opening
i washed it before i started painting it but the primer on the robes is scratching away
not sure if lacquering the primer before i start painting is a good idea or not i'll have to try it out on
a marine or something. the yellow went on nicely the gold needed shaking... again...
im thinking of exploring other brands for metallic colours to find a good one that doesn't require shaking

so i did a little more work on these two today
i reattached the wraiths head this one is going to have two whip coils or two claws
not really sure yet, the shoulder pads still need more sanding

the sorcerer is coming along nicely just gotta paint up the hand and the pack
maybe wash the skirt but thats about all unless something else pops to mind

im back finally with a dc update!

now he has arms! decided double heavy meele for this squad hammer + axe
i gotta sneak on a bolt pistol on this guy like i did for the axe sry ik its blurry but whatever

back to the xeno distractions...

the sword broke! but i put it back on looks fine right? and of course the gun is blurred so it looks like his hand is still missing
thinking of redoing the boots to match his squad... the black and gold looks better
the skirt turned out just how i wanted it none of that hard two tone painting crap the high and low lights are more natural this way
but maybe i used the wrong under tone colour... purple under tone for the gloves of course

and of course this guy was a bit of a distraction
his second arm required some light GS and converting
wanted him with double chain weapons
working on his head next giving him orangy yellow hair

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/06/02 16:02:39

Post by: LordRahl

ok here is the update on the scourge
after i finished up the head the idea of painting the wings to match the hair hit me
so i tried it as an experiment it turned out better than i had imagined it
so i decided to film a tutorial with the other wing!

i mean just look at those blazing orange wings!
this pic is before i attached the second wing..
but i also attached a pistol to her hip for good measure

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/06/05 01:39:17

Post by: LordRahl

welcome back to another dhharen update
the DC squad has new shoulder pads!

well thats all i did for him yesterday...

on another note a second scourge got her wings and head this spear wielder
is just missing an arm cant decide what shall it be

the figure is blurry but at least the wings are in focus....
i really love the orange, the Mohawk feathers are really neat
the armor colours are what my brother wants for his army
so dont blame me for their normality

ill post the fantasy update in a new post below

Automatically Appended Next Post:
so i came across these metal wood elf figures.. and i scooped them up
so yesterday i decided to base coat one of them, so here she is base coated

i decided to go safe with the first one brown and green + brown or blond hair i haven't decided but the brown base coat works for either one
i put on the base coat in thinned layers, i might have to add a few more before i move on...

time for another update!
well here is my first wood elf...
after i uploaded her i noticed i forgot to finish up the ties on the bow...

anyone have any tips on how to stop the paint chipping away on metal models?
a better primer perhaps? i guess ill try mixing the primer with the lacquer

Oh and look at this... i almost forgot that im working on a harlequin conversion

isnt the body perfect? it fits the arms just right
shortened the nose, patched up the gaps
now i just gotta prime and paint her

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/06/10 17:50:52

Post by: Matthew

It looks great! But please, stop changing the colour of the text all the time.

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/06/12 17:56:30

Post by: LordRahl

jeez Mathew ruin my groove why dont you,
well i primed a second wood elf... mixed lacquer with the primer
her breasts were an odd shape... so green stuff attack!
i made them slightly bigger while i was at it
ill post a picture after she is base coated
i also primed the harlequin not quite sure how i'll paint her just yet

anyway the company of deaths hammer is finally painted!
one more marine to go then that squad will be finished

pouches and grenades surround his waist
so that he may drop presents before crashing down with his hammer!
although im thinking of straping a bolt pistol to his wrist...
and just for Mathew i kept it down to two colours

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/06/22 03:01:03

Post by: LordRahl

ok so my last post didnt show up which is quite odd
but ive made progress on the first bat scourge

first part finished were the legs, then the wings, i took a picture
with one base coated and one finished the wings were done by
wet mixing the darks and dry brushing the highlights

then today i finished off the torso and primed the arms
i sanded and then added some greenstuff then more sanding
to change it from just the belly showing to the entire lower torso
i also attempted to convert a male chest to female,
if it doesn't look right im going to drop it and hunt for another torso
because i really liked the hellion torso turned out

Just looked through your blog, you have some great work. Keep it up!

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/06/24 01:19:17

Post by: LordRahl

so i have been playing around with many paint thinning options
ive herd people saying simple green works best but ive never came across it
in stores what i had found to work best was a mixture of industrial paint thinner and water
it works well on metal models, but it has a nasty side effect on the plastic models
so the other day i was in home depot when i finally met simple green in person
so i picked it up tossed in a few of the worst pieces i had to test it out
dunked them in for a couple days with a few dental appointments
it turned out quite well so i thought id share

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/06/25 20:20:05

Post by: LordRahl

well the first bat winged scourge is ready to fly off
and blast his enemies with his lazer!
so two down three scourge to go, only one male will be in this squad
so now the lance still needs an arm, and i need to figure
out what to do for the final female GS or another conversion

in other news i also started painting my brothers the thousand suns
i think the blue might need another coat, and i really hate how the upgrade pack
fronts dont match any backs, some minor shaving + sanding is involved in the process

The Green lantern i showed in the first post i finally got back to him,
i decided to give him a Gatling gun to be used as a HB
but... im not quite as enthusiastic about the 3d emblem i had given him...
not quite sure what i was thinking it might be replaced,
and im also not sure how to give him a green glow, maybe it will be part of the base

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/06/28 21:35:20

Post by: LordRahl

here is my possed slenesh marine
keep in mind i removed his shoulder pads and winded pack
to make it easier to paint up, ill paste them back on after they are painted up
he still needs a few touch ups

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/07/03 20:10:48

Post by: LordRahl

well here is another scourge all finished and out of the production line
this is the squads male in certain angles it looks as if he is holding just one weapon
which was an accident that actually turned out looking pretty cool
all thats left is the spear throwers arm and the last bat scourge

in other news the last DC marines body has finally been painted!
and another TS marine has also had his body painted
and a third TS chest is in the process of being sculpted
shave a bit off one side, slice off the front of the deflector hood
then a little green stuff to rid myself of any cracks

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/07/14 06:33:24

hey guys
i haven't posted in a week due to being away from my workbench
but im back i managed to pick up some sisters, and started stripping them
here they are before the process

two are now stripped im going to go over the model for any mold lines then prime them
also i finally got around to my necron spider ill post a progress pic tomorrow

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/07/16 08:29:59

Post by: LordRahl

well now two of the sisters are bare metal
now i'll prime them soon as i clear up some space on my workbench
Green lanterns head got its first base coat, so hes currently all brown
i'll paint the mask on then his eyes last

ok so back to the DE
the flamer arm is fixed and primed black
so that winged lancer is approaching completion
and unfortunately i will be attempting to convert this guy to DE

he is getting a nice little pistol and im not sure how im converting the bone sword
perhaps out of a tyranid tail, but i dont like the hood or how i painted it so it will be cut out the middle
make it look like thier duel sided blades? cut off the front flaps cause i didnt quite like em
imho the cape actually turned out well

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/07/19 05:16:41

Post by: LordRahl

well here i have finished off the third Thousand son
here he is armed with his brothers

well there is still one waiting on his arms and his plasma rifle, one my brother is working on himself
three more not even assembled for this squad and a whole extra squad un assembled
im going to try to drop the plastic stripped arms if i have enough

mean while ive finally taken a pic of the the necron spider
not sure what colour to make his armour especially since i inadvertently
painted parts of it metal (pictured) i didn't feel like adding the green lines like on the box

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/07/30 03:49:54

Post by: LordRahl

well here is a wip shot of the spider
not sure why i painted it white... but i did

i did some more energy work on him afterwards not sure if i want to make the symbols glow onto the Armour a bit or not
just a few more pieces on this guy to go, part of a claw the mini arms, the caps and the optional gun
i also repaired this nice anime hawk girl i picked up today,
not sure when i started liking hawk girl... but apparently i do

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/08/05 03:53:07

Post by: LordRahl

*gasp* so the spider is finished although i forgot to take pic for the blog
another two necron projects i still have in the works are the fourth flayed one
and super pariah i may or may not be keeping the cape
im working on his arms first, then fix the leg position, and add some additional details

these two below are much closer to completion,
the thousand son captain im working on is pretty interesting...
this poor stripped marine came out of the warp with quite a few upgrades
i kind of think the sang sun head is a nice touch and kinda fits the theme of the army
im kinda debating weather or not to mess with the heads paint job or not
on the other hand this is the emperors champion before the nun oil,
the power sword will be all thats left to do on this model, and maybe a couple purity seals

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/08/06 02:07:07

Post by: LordRahl

the champion has taken a nice nun oil shower and came out with darker blacks
and darkened the whites now he doesn't look all bright and shiny
now the guy im painting him for wants some purity seals added before closing the deal

green lanterns new shoulder pad looks much better than the original...
crisper lines to both the conversion and the paintjob, used an apoxy to get the general shape
then green puddy i picked up from a hobby shop to sharpen the lines
now that he is finished im thinking of making a yellow lantern or john Stewart GL

[/url

well now the thousand son captain has shoulder pads when i realized i forgot to give him a backpack...
so i picked one out and primed it,

Post by: LordRahl

well i haven't got alot of painting time lately
but the last DC jumper from the box finally got arms and a head
i also found a head that i think works for my sob conversion
i also started working on her belt after i took the pic
a bit of editing was required to make the head fit

well another couple conversons im working on are
the necron pariah, finally fixed the staff arm
and im converting this fem night crawler to a DE warrior
knees down will be terminated and replaced
i will also think of something to hide all my shoulder tweaking

hey guys lots have stuff kept coming up so i didnt get much time on the workbench
so this was the last thing i worked on before all that came up,

its my take on a bane thrall, i also want to be able to use it as a pariah or something later
so its very necron themed im using a skeleton warriors axe,
not quite sure were im putting the energy but its all coming together pretty quickly
i got to painting the main body and the warping legs i think its still missing something tho

and i got to painting these mystery mech legs too

Post by: LordRahl

hello so here is my little update
so i got this bit from my local hobby shops bits bin
and ran home cut off the front that i made from scratch
and re did it with the new one i just got

and the final member of the DC squad has his jump pack finally

my new commission is this flame dragon from malafaux, and sonia too
the guy is in no rush and told me to take my time so i epoxied the joints to give a smoother finish
because it didnt quite fit as perfectly as i would like,
i mixed some abadon black with satin finish to prime it
i found that to be the best way to prime metal models without getting chips

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/09/13 06:54:04

Post by: LordRahl

i had thought i posted this already but i guess it dakka must of glitched on me
any way the flames of this avatar turned out better than i expected
for some reason the sharp edges on metal models seem to peel
touched them up with red mixed with satin finish witch seems to help a bit

i also started painting up criid,
went with earth tones for her, and the same hair as the scourges i painted before
this model is a true joy to paint, although assembling it was a pain
and i wish i went against the clients wishes and pinned the arms..
they are super fragile

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/09/14 03:28:53

Post by: LordRahl

so i finished off sonnia, had a bit of trouble getting her on
it was a real puzzle to get her to get in there
so here she is in all her blazing glory

i also painted up gambit...
the jacket turned out pretty well but his pecks got a little roughed up during the sanding phase
still a few more paint touch ups are needed tho
still gotta pick out a head for him tho, i was thinking od going with a eldar bare head
it has the head gear, the arms are still up in the air tho

Nice fire work on the dragon thing. I don’t know who the lady is, but she should really cut back on the hot peppers.

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/09/18 13:36:15

Post by: LordRahl

so other than gambit i got some bits i needed for the hover bike
swapped out the wind shield with the winged DA one

much better
so for the next steps i popped off the wings
i picked up this consul from the flgs and with slight editing and apoxy to support it and to smooth out the transition

i had also picked up what i think is a twin linked flame thrower
cut it right down the middle added some strange little bit between them
stick it in between and vola!

now im just missing another weapon and finishing touches

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/09/23 16:35:12

Post by: LordRahl

so ive cut up some bolters and added them to the bike
they are slightly angled up im going to pretend i did that on purpose...
i also did some work on the gambit solitaire he has a head and arms all painted up
all thats left are the energy and glowing effects

meanwhile i finished up the second wood elf to get it off my wip shelf

dont know why my camera is acting up today tho, going to convert another male to female
so i dont have two identical models

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/09/27 14:19:39

Post by: LordRahl

so lets see what i finished up last night...
i finished up Gambit for Buttery's contest
didnt get purple wash so i mixed purple with some ardcoat dry brushed pink, added white highlights
it turned out good imo , although i still think the staff looks a little short

also got this witcher for malifaux done...
meh i might add more weathering to her coat
and maybe dirty her bandages a bit more

and my last one is a wip shot of amilia...
my brother asked me to paint this model up...
although i dont know the character... and im kinda like...
thats alot of green...

so thats what ive been upto.. trying to finish up all my little projects

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/09/30 16:26:31

Post by: LordRahl

hey guys, ive base coated the second witcher
and painted the skin, i haven't picked out swords for this one just yet tho,
i also touched up that wakfu green person too

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/10/01 14:10:03

Post by: LordRahl

welcome to another update!
unfortunately a tyranid managed to sneak out of its blister and onto my conversion table!
i decided he needs scales! they are in the process of being attached...

and Amelia got a few more touch ups,
dont judge me.. its the first time ive painted a chocolate skinned figure
and i cant get they eyes just right...

and i almost forgot the second witcher had alot of work done on her
only really needs the gold and red along with a few touch ups
although i forgot to mix the laquer with the base coats so ill brush it ontop

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/10/08 14:54:05

Post by: LordRahl

yay finished my alpha gene stealer

i had painted up another stealer but he didnt look so good in the metal theme so...
the shell was attached to this guy..
anyway on to more fun stuff i started painting batman...
the greys just need a bit of highlighting and i started on the cape but didnt take a photo of it just yet

oh and lets not forget about the witcher
the gold is done up just gotta do the jems and of course the swords and other arm

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/10/23 15:44:11

Post by: LordRahl

so thanks to my camera acting up i had to resort to using my phone
hero clicks models make really good conversion material

she is just a member of a harley goon squad / 40k Harlequin
her sword will have a reddish power to it if the effect turns out right
gonna try base coating it different shades of red then apply thin layers of silver

next up is batman

i totally dont have the right grey on him just yet im going to brighten him up while leaving his boots and gloves alone
tis pic made me notice his ear is a bit scuffed up... wonder why i didnt notice it till now

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/11/15 15:17:19

Post by: LordRahl

im not dead, but havent got much painting done for a bit
batman is almost done touch up his symbol and satin finish are necessary still and another layer of nun on his boots an gloves
any other tips would be helpful

and ive also got a messy start on a Sister of battle

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/11/22 23:00:40

Post by: LordRahl

i had primed her body then waited a few days....
then i picked her up base coated and finished her in one go
i kinda wanted her body to be a bluish white i dont know how i picked ice colours

i wanted the Armour to be silver i was going to paint her body white and the lines blue...
but instead i picked up the wrong blue for the under coat and i thought id experiment
the lines are chrome silver not that you can tell from my gakky photos

i really love this model even the parts that dont show
she is very well sculpted i mean just look at Dat ass!

the SoB is also done except for her wepon pics coming soon
also assembled future vic pime pics coming soon

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/11/24 02:22:28

Post by: LordRahl

hey guys updated pics as promised!
so here is future vic prime

i want her on a bigger base and i want some sort of energy or still air feel around her somehow
doubt i could pull it off.. but thats what i want... anyhow i have also primed present vic p
will start on her tommorow...

also the SoB i painted up... just noticed the gold needs a bit of highlighting
she will be rocking a heavy melta which was primed last night and i might start on it right after i post this

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/11/26 03:36:52

Post by: LordRahl

hey so next vic blister model is present...

here is a pic i just started the base coating
gonna add some ice colours in this one to tie her to future
same colour cloak and armour the criss cross cloak on her back will be painted to match past
haven't yet decided on its colour

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/12/01 02:18:24

Post by: LordRahl

present is present and accounted for...
i'll paint up her base later, but yes doesn't that spot look more like skin than armor...
i started on past i might get her done in one sitting... just took a break to post this...
past is gonna end up looking like a hippy

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/12/01 16:55:43

Post by: LordRahl

oops forgot to take wip shots of the hippy!!! oh no!
the main bits are done just got the belts and such left
any way... rogue has a head finally! i think she is done unless i do something to her mask..

i added a base to my pariah conversion, stairs! that's always fun right?
so im thinking weather or not to add the wires in the gut and one or two here and there
not sure if it would ruin the model tho so im still mulling it over

till next time ~Lord Rahl

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/12/04 18:46:31

Post by: LordRahl

hey i hit 3000 views!!!

so the heavy melta sister now has her gun... and all she needs is her little power pack

so now my first actual sister model is almost done!
speaking of sisters i started a second conversion... i guess no two converted sisters will look alike in her squad...
she has oop DE legs instead of the tau, the first sisters arms are being painted up atm

now the last victoria prime from the blister "past" had alot of work done on her

lol she needs a few more flowers on the bottem of her bell bottoms!

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/12/06 19:49:04

Post by: LordRahl

so my updates are going to be sister heavy for a while
so the first converted sister is complete except i haven't quite worked out her power pack
although i was considering not adding one because the Armour she has is pretty cool

so the pack i was thinking about converting would have a tau pack as a base and two boosters things to get the proper look and feel to it.
so the second Sob conversion is got a little work done on her tarp and got it cleaned up its just missing the highlights now

sorry for the blurry image but thats her body so far... haven't worked out her head but she is also getting DE arms with similar bracers

more updates coming soon
~LordRahl

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/12/07 18:48:28

Post by: LordRahl

i just came across this box of space marine bits that disappeared couple of years ago
so i decided to refresh the ranks for my blood angel army

i started on this marines pack and primed his head which is not in the pic
so here are the legs all ready for the lacquer finish, i'll start on the body tonight

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/12/09 21:18:12

Post by: LordRahl

so this guy is done first of the refreshers,
drilled the barrel highlighted the gold ect

and i re-positioned the second marines legs, and enlarged the base,
needs a bit of sanding, ect...

Of course i painted the sisters chest

painted up the gold, highlighted the black , gave her a quick wash
still gotta pick out her arms, and im not quite sure what im doing for the head

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/12/11 15:18:35

Post by: LordRahl

the sisters pictures were too terrible to share
she is getting another laser bolter

anyway here is some blood angel wip shots...
as to my suprise i came across a spare DC legs in that SM bits box...
so naturally i painted it up

im considering giving him the same custom chest as the last pair... have him wielding an axe with one hand to the side similar to one of the DV chosen
and i base coated those BA legs i slightly shifted

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/12/13 22:22:11

Post by: LordRahl

so i was rummaging through my bits box when i came across an already painted chest...
i found it conveniently painted to match the legs i was working on
i'll just touch it up and move on to the next piece!

so here is a better pic of the sister from the last post
she will shoot you with bullets filled with love

ive shaded the black on her and touched her up since this picture, i also applied a satin finish to help her not get scratched up so easily

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/12/16 17:10:27

Post by: LordRahl

so i was watching onepunchman and thought "hmm.. why dont i make a OPM model"
so i rummaged through my bits bin and was like it totally works pulled out a bunch of DE bits and started converting

this is were i am now:

i rotated a leg and started tweaking the chest, im about to chop off the shoulder and make it more plain im using this chest for a freak-en zipper!
anyway back to the other conversion i started working on he arms and she is getting a bolter instead of a laser

i added the transfers to her shoulder pads and added finish to the chest and legs
and dont forget the blood angel! he is getting a death mask and double Power fists
maybe ill stick a flame pistols on him somehow

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/12/18 06:32:36

Post by: LordRahl

well bunch of work done on the torso took a test photo

so after this image i decided to change the leg position a bit, and shorten the chest slightly
he is going to be used as a harlequin hence the kiss, and i picked a bald DE head
so there is a slight shift in the position ill test glue it when everything dries the cape is a bit heavy
when im happy with the position ill work on the belt

These are the arms for this new DC Marine
im going to Jerry rig one to have a flamer pistol built in (the speck of green puddy )
the right arm is all base coated in the pic highlights added afterwards
and i also base coated a chest so i'll share a wip of that too

and lets not forget the sisters bolter arm its attached now, i picked out a head so ill start painting it next
arms dont have a satin finish on them just yet

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/12/20 23:59:35

Post by: LordRahl

one punch man now has a head!!!

filled in the runes took off the cape and primed him white
i started the yellow base coat and then finished off the red boots i reattached his arm then i noticed....
his belt buckle fell off! i spent way too much time on it and it fell off!!!
i also reattached the punch arm and base coated the base black

i love how he is turning out so far, i just look the image on my workbench/coffee table so excuse the poor lighting and quality
my new winsor brush and the humbrol brush i got with the sisters is in the back ground,
so far the humbrol brush is easier to clean and holds its shape better than the crap im use to

i didnt totally forget about my other projects..
its the first time i tried this effect on the power fist ive seen it done a few times so i went ahead and gave it a shot
base coated scab red, highlighted meph red, painted the middle sections black then washed it with blood wash
he has a pretty plain jump pack i wish i thought of adding something to it i still might his shoulder pad is going on tonight
then i can attach his jump pack and put him away till i base the DC jumpers, i would like to give all the jumpers the new bigger bases
but i still haven't gotten around to ordering them just yet

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/12/22 01:11:55

Post by: LordRahl

hey one punch has a belt again!
just going to start working on his head and finish up the body and gloves
i should put a random sword on the base for playable reasons

the base will be city ruble i just added the grey base coat ond will add a thin elf grey coat on top of that
i should start on his head too lol

moving back to the imperium
meet the newest addition to my DC

i'll post better pics after i get him a bigger base, and base him
the right power fist has a flame thrower... although its not really visible in the pic
i added the tiny lighter and gave it hazard lines! it is not a waste of space its now a flame thrower!

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/12/22 06:58:31

Loving the double fist DC. Your battle sister conversions are coming along nicely and OPM is looking good.

As a painting tip, try thinning you paints a bit, it's looking a bit thick on the models.

EDC

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/12/23 00:05:41

Post by: LordRahl

@evildr thanks for the comment, ive really been trying to thin my paints some times i guess i just forget

i thought i filled the runes enough, sure i left the ones running across the eyes on purpose but the others
i might need to strip the top of his head and refill it, the cape turned out just as plain as i had hoped
just need to highlight it a bit and work on the head

added arms to the tactical marine, i just noticed that i wass missing a guy in my chainsaw bolter squad
so i changed the bolter i was originally going to give him with a bolter

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/12/24 17:06:33

Post by: LordRahl

after some more highlights and a quick varnish he is done...
One Puuuunch!

so im not sure what meele he wants to use but another one added to his harlequinn squad
lol i just finished the stalker ova kinda pointless, "dont go around stealing peoples fries!"
anyway his head is shiny his eyes are black in serious mode lol
is the stigmar gold super watery or is it just mine?

anyway i painted up another back pack for the converted models

im glad i have that little Sob killa can the transfers it came with are quite handy
used three on this particular model, so im thinking of trying SM legs next with a GS pelvis
for the heavy weapon in the squad, since in the reg sisters i have a H melta and bolter,
i might do a H flamer or a rocket launcher for it now its just a manner of getting the perfect one tho

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/12/27 23:06:17

Post by: LordRahl

So for the next Sob conversion i wanna try A heavy weapon sister with space marine legs
i have some left over from the stern guard set i originally wanted a rocket launcher but the only one i have is the space marine one...
so i will decide on the weapon later, i shaved down her thighs a bit and im trying to point the boots (yes, these legs were from a stripped marine)
she will have her Talbert on the front and back of the pelvis, so the pointy butt was terminated

I have also been painting up this oop chaos space marine raptor

he is painted up to go with my brothers thousand sons, he has a new chainsaw arm, and a fantasy shield
the gargoylish head was also swapped out for this one
im still not use to this new gold, i managed to get off the shoulder pads without damaging them so they will be recycled

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/12/31 04:37:15

Post by: LordRahl

the title is giving me trouble again rawr!
so during the one punch conversion i secretly painted this guy for my brothers army as a little bonus with his gift
explaining the fewer wip shots taken, btw when i gave it to him i forgot the shoulder pads
after gluing them on i remembered to take a few shots

pay no attention to batgirl she is not there
so i decided to give this guy blue coms i dont necessarily like it but i dont hate it
so now i got a full squad of chainsaws and bolters, i might magnatise some jump packs later
i might also replace some of the existing squad members, they aren't my best works

at some point i gotta get a better camera

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2015/12/31 21:25:48

Post by: LordRahl

hey guys so i finished off another Sob conversion better results because it has a nicer head
maybe i should've cropped this image tho lol
the las gun is the perfect size and easily converted to a bolter

you cant say i dont love melta guns
i really like how this sisters gun turned out
subtle highlighting and i waterd down the paint maybe a little too much
i also didnt notice the gloves till i was painting

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2016/01/02 23:30:57

Post by: LordRahl

so i just noticed that i forgot to post a pic of Vic p past
I haven't gotten around to adding the satin coat for some reason
so i will be finishing it off tonight

i also have to base her, and i want a slightly bigger base for future...

Back to my Sister conversions i decided to be a little pyro and give the heavy sister
a heavy flamer so break out the flames!!
i shaved off the under shoulder pad and did quite a bit of sanding
i left the elbow pad, ill do some freehand flames on them

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2016/01/06 19:43:10

Post by: LordRahl

well the flamer sister just needs her head and support arm,
surprisingly she doesn't look too bad with space marine parts
although i think the tau legs looked better
i'll post a pick of the three side by side when i get this one done

i also started painting up another bolter sister
so i decided to try out painting the hair white... her hair had a grey base coat, then elf grey dry brushed on...
now im trying to figure out how to make it look more vibrant... im wondering if a bright silver or brighter white would fix it....

So i broke open another blister and started painting them up...

for some reason i got the impression that one leg is bear and the other isn't... so im just going to paint them as such

and now she is almost done, just needs the finishing touches for her skin

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2016/01/10 03:46:03

Post by: LordRahl

well here is another Sob update!
the first sister is pretty much done!
the red lips makes a huge impact, and look much better than i thought they would

now the space marine leg sister just needs a head...
not sure what to use atm, might go with a scourge head...

and i found this model in my bits bin while i was painting my repentia... decided hell ill stick a chainsaw on the base and use her as an extra sister

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2016/01/11 20:59:11

Post by: LordRahl

well i just started getting some paint on this guy, his face will probably end up gold...
the gold needs a few more layers of base coat in this image, this guy is the test model
i might end up bulking them up for the rest of the squad

and here are the two unfinished repentia sisters, im going to give them less of a tan than the other one
just proving that i didn't forget about them I attempted to use masking tape, but it just didnt wanna stick
would be nice to not have to clean up after myself

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2016/01/14 20:36:05

Post by: LordRahl

some how i got bored painting Sisiters of battle?!
so ivw been working on this guy a lot... yes when one has a cold he wishes he was a
now im thinking maybe i should have have painted the bandages as if they were skin...
still needs a bit of work but he is nearly complete

well my converted repentia sister now has her bloody chainsaw!
i have a second one that might be converted to slenesh..... due to all my brothers jokes about her position...
now the only thing she really needs is her eyes to be done, im debating weither or not to give her open or closed eyes...
then i will either do her eyes or eyelashes...

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2016/01/19 18:00:12

Post by: LordRahl

I got some models done
i should eventually get to basing them, well fist one is the second repentia sister
the chains were a bit tedious, i made sure not to over wash her to avoid her sisters tan
when i get more repentia i need to be sure to get some new heads for them

ill post more shots of the three converted sisters later, but here is the third one
now that i have tried all three leg options i was thinking of
what i found strange is how the space marine parts actually worked...
although im not going to use space marine arms again
she is just missing transfers on her shoulder pads

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2016/01/22 15:52:20

Post by: LordRahl

here is the picture i promised

So i saw Dwez's thread and decided i wanted to give it a try it printed out really well and got overly excited
so i started cutting out the foam board and cut the stickers out then cut it were the floors separate
then i assembled the second floor that is were the cut in my sticker paper is,
next time i should try aligning that cut with were the floor separates or something

i then primed the inside black and just dropped thae floor in to see how it looks,
im going to touch it up then actually stick it in
now my real issue is that my sticker paper doesn't like sticking to the foam board
so i went and ran a glue stick under the sticker paper and used hockey tape on the edges
under the sticker paper to hide any gaps in the sticker paper on the corners and between floors

i think im just going to paint yellow rectangles inside the building for the windows but for the next one im going to cut them out and use
gift wrap or painted in laminate for the windows and cut them out on the foam board

(link: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/486776.page )

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2016/01/24 20:11:19

Post by: LordRahl

hey so this is what each floor looked like before stickers
i glue the pieces together then tape the edges with hockey tape
run across it with a glue stick and bam

then here is it after stickers,
im gonna do a bit more on the roof and give the whole building a base
maybe hardwood for the main floor or tiles
maybe some clear tape over the edges?
not bad for my first attempt at this sort of thing

im also going to paint up a couple objective markers
i dont feel like making a titan extractor so i thought maybe a lasurus cauldron?
have a shirtless man (raz?) or woman (talia?) popping out of the solution?

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2016/01/28 05:20:00

Post by: LordRahl

hey so i got the repentia all done and based
the converted one just chilling in the back
i guess one of them likes the sun more than the rest

i got the objective markers for the batman miniatures game done... for now
the cauldron has a green pool in it now... (not pictured)
but i eventually id like to make someone being revived from the pit
also i need to get my fourth OM done the riddle probably going to be a little trophy in a cage
the ammo create isnt anything fancy just a bunch of imperial guard clib bits but whatever

so i got this headless blood crusher, and a bunch of carnifex heads this called for conversion time!
so first i got the head with twin horns and many eyes, and the head with the massive lower jaw and merged them
and attached the head to the model to check the size!

looked good but was missing something so i ripped off the head and got to work
i first molded a square plate outta green stuff, waited till it dried then carved into it
while i was carving i thought wouldn't an arrow look good here
and got the following as a result:

now im going to wait for the patches to dry give it a final sanding and re attach it
while i was playing with nid parts i felt like working a bit on my metal nids...
i recently got these mecanical heads and wanted to see what it would look like on a homogaunt...
not the biggest fan of this head on this model.. ill save the rest for more necron conversions

getting back to the sisters i wanted to try a new red head blend
excuse the blurriness but the hair turned out pretty well, i used scab red, orange, and a tan
i like how it turned out

the final mini i will add to this post is batgirl, primed and base coated black, then got started on the yellow
base coated the hair, it will be a similar coloring as the sister, and base coat for the skin
and of course my camera is like ork focusing at all on the mini

Post by: LordRahl

thx for the comments EDC!
im being a little hard on myself about the terrain
maybe ill try to make the next one more 3d

anyway i got around to finishing a couple more of my metal nids, im just looking to finish up the squad
this cybernetic head is growing on me but i really like the little bulkier genestealer arms the squad is now just short one

although i dont usually paint my nids they seem to be getting alot of attention from me all of a sudden,
*blames the blood crusher* the winged ripper base has a new addition yay with the third on the way
i cant believe they dont come with flight sticks tho had to drill into them to add it too now all i gotta worry about is fitting them on the base

You xenos cant escape batgirl!
i added another thin layer of yellow and finished her hair
now i gotta start shading the yellow and work on the black
and clean up the cape! still so much to do

So i played my first batman miniatures game,
we played a six player 150 point shifting allegiances match
i took my painted batman out for a spin didn't win but at least i didn't get killed
this was turn two

i took a picture of my first point

not sure why the picture uploaded sideways but oh well
i came back from the washroom and found raz and lobo confronting me!
next turn lobo ended up on my team

i thought id tackle the white chest and the hood first

now i cleaned up all the mess, and then painted up the coat the white trim and silver is next
i started painting the rider and a leg, still some work to do on the rider but hes coming along nice so far
i primed two more legs

i got these rippers all painted and ready,
ill paint up the rest of them soon

hey been busy lately but i got red hood pretty much done,
ill post more pics of him after he is varnished and his base is painted up
i think the shin pads should be silver so they are not sure what the actual colour should be

well i also got a bit of paint on a couple more blood crusher legs between layers

thats all there is there isn't any more (for today)

so now that i finished my batman team im a bit sad... and the new models i ordered haven't come in yet...
so ill get back to painting other stuff... or so i thought, i went back to my lasurus pot
popped out the temp surface cut the reaper mermaid that i had sitting around added some milliput and voila
i kinda forgot to take a pic before i started painting it....

i think i did the under water bum quite well, although i just noticed i forgot her eye brows...
and i noticed her finger is missing a piece... when did that happen?
i also made sure to add a bit of a green tint to her skin in some places (wet spots lol)

i also did i bit more work on hawkgirl/scourge everything has been patched up since this pic
the shoulder has been mended, pants line has been added and sanded properly
and the head is still in the air... im thinking of replacing it with an edited scourge mask after i get the bmg model
and i finally got around to weighting her base. (so she wont fall over )

i'll do hawkman too at some point, toss a gun on her base... i also might change her base...
well i also painted up a blood angel, gonna give him a decorated bolter, to help dress up the tactical marines

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2016/02/28 19:05:51

Post by: LordRahl

so first off let me show off the finished tactical marine
im going to be slowly redoing all my blood angels to have more BA bling

just going to varnish him and put him away
As for lazurus talia i decided to give her glowing eyes thx to a recommendation
and added a few suttle splashes of green to her skin just going to apply the finishing touches and she should be done

i started laying some paint on my hawkgirl proxie for Bmg or DE scourge
i really like how this model came together it was a bit worried when i took it apart for painting
especially with how much trouble the wings gave me to glue on even after pinning them

and just to add a bit od chaos to the mix i started painting a chaos lord
although i think his sword is too short! so i might try to extend it before i come around to painting it

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2016/03/01 00:56:57

Post by: LordRahl

so talia is finished.. or is she?
just going to clean up the glow effect a bit and add the varnish

some more paint got on hawkgirl, those black lines look awsome and i have no idea how they got there
i gotta clean her up a bit, finish off the other arm and reattach it wings too

also the demon that the blood crusher rides is just waiting for varnish and the rider of course

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2016/03/05 16:13:45

Post by: LordRahl

hawkgirl is done and waiting for a few layers of finish

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2016/03/08 21:05:47

Post by: LordRahl

i have been priming a few models, and forgetting about models i already started
i gotta brighten up the red on his fingers a bit, i had a nice painting session with him last night
some sticky stuff (old glue?) got on my finger somehow and i touched the shield
thats how he got that cool texture on its face.. totally did that on purpose

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2016/03/13 22:02:35

Post by: LordRahl

so i had a painting spree a couple nights ago and finished off animated series season 4 batman!
he turned out fabulous in certain angles the capes highlights look blue

obviously i finished off the base a bit later and he has a coat of varnish now
he needs one more team mate for my second batman team

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2016/03/16 17:29:27

Post by: LordRahl

hey guys my internet is going to be crap for a while, but anyway
i did alot on abadon, i should take a newer pic since he is almost done
he came with a finger missing and the eye on the same shoulder is a bit messed up
but painted up it might not be as visible

i also got this silk assassin, sadly her scarf is missing so i gotta test my GS skills and try to make one from scratch
not too sure how it will turn out, im kinda dreading it, the base i through together is pretty cool though

the last thing im going to share is this riddler objective i through together
i think im going to add a computer screen or something to it solve the riddle step on the button..
get it right and the light lights up get it wrong and boom!

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2016/03/25 19:11:59

Post by: LordRahl

so i had this guy sitting for a while and just got around to working on him,
he only really needs his back pack, and shoulder pads painted up now

and my second cop henchmen taser cop got some work done on him
blues are almost done, and the skin just needs a little highlighting
ive actually done more work on him after the pic such as adding the red strip up the leg
gotta keep them uniform

cant forget my new loot objective for the bmg!
batman has pulled out his famed owl statue to lure penguin into a trap
the floor was added to stabilize the pillar, it kept falling over!

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2016/03/31 14:13:05

Post by: LordRahl

well abadon has been finished off
i think the sword turned out ok
i painted up the back of the legs silver cause it reminded me a bit of xmens colosis
i do think his face is a little to pale i might get around to adding blood splatter or something later

before i forget i have this raptor waiting on his head and wings..
the pic is blurry

Not to worry im still alive just had painters block...
i got red robin/catman done dont know if i shared wip shots or not this was him before the base was painted
not really sure why i got him... but he is in a super cool position and was fun to paint

i knida like the model i converted better than the actual model,
the mace is in such an awkward position gaak how did that red smuge get there

hey so hawkgirl fell and i almost died...
thankfully i was able to glue her back together and touch her up...
there are more pics in my gallery but here is the best one

also i got gordon done over night the next day i applied a wash and bam
quick easy and painless and now my law forces have a leader

and finally strait outta counter strike come my swat cop

well its been a while since ive posted, kinda around when my workbench was unavailable
ive been working on finishing up all my batman + marvel stuff
while waiting for other projects to dry ive been working on this

im also converting harleys goons to the number gang, diamond faction
but i dropped jack and he bumped his head and broke his crown so after some patchwork
his arm also broke off so its not perfect anymore which will piss me off a bit but alas

ill post more wip pics if anyone is interested,
i will also be posting some of my models that ive painted while i was away

Ok after much craziness , (should be able to find some new things in my gallery tho )
i got a couple commissions, painted up some assorted marvel and DC, and some anima tactics of all things
please ignore my dvd background as i show you some of my latest

Starting with iron patriot i probably could have done better on the chest star but other than that he turned out pretty good
was painting a second iron man for a freind, and he didnt have the iron patriot model so i figured this way it wouldn't be too repetitive
stars on his shoulders turned out better than the chest, should have took more pics before sending him back

just noticed this was before i finished up the base but the last metal swat figure missing from my set
there are more cops of course but no more swat, except Brandon who is coming in the next post
and the new models came out in resin which are slightly cheaper
nothing too special but hes gonna bust down ur door anyway

after finding him, in need of touch ups and unfinished... hes finally been completed sword and all!
instead of rejoining my shelf of incomplete shame the grip is brown because i was finishing up echo (above)
had to touch up some sculls but for a model just thrown in a box he came out pretty well!
the sword touch ups dont show up in the photo so well but they are there

comments are appreciated more to come soon!

im not sure why but i keep taking pictures before i base them but i got to some new miniatures from the knights models line
line i mentioned in my last post i painted Brandon ill be taking a group shot of the swat cops together, as well as my commissioned avengers
Brandon was a breeze to paint, used a navy and oop enchanted blue regular black shading and sharpied GCPD to his back
made sure to use a sharp brush to paint his straps learned the long way sharp brushes are better than smaller brushes

at first i really didnt wanna paint him but here is deadshot
added a smidge of bluish grey on his pants so that they would look like two different materials
did the yellow line in one stroke all the way around...
not much else to say he didnt take much time or effort

now i apologize for the terrible photo but i noticed the mess on his coat after the photo and touched it up
really liked how his face turned out again another nice and easy model for the most part the dress shirt vest and tie were done first
just because i didnt wanna mess up the purple later so "why So Serious?"

check out my gallery for more pictures and updates,
i know it sucks that im using a phone camera but my camera died a while ago
see you next time!

ill start off with a project that im working on
since i had two of these guys sitting on my work bench i decided to convert one
i put on a kite shield, thinking of using his red black and white colour scheme

next are james and william from the court of owls sets
i decided to try out different colours to see how the would look with William (spinner) it was just gold and brown
while i like how the model turned out, i felt maybe i should try something out with the others
James and the other will probably all have similar colours
and yes the bases arent done in these photos

im looking to finish up the rest of the owls that i have, (two models were missing parts so they will pop up later)
until next time

so i havent played with my oxide finish lately so i pulled it out after painting a WW2 tank
its a freinds and he wants some wear and tear so i thought id pull it out
made sure it was properly shaded

so i decided to apply the oxide to the exhaust and the vents
here i love how it turned out and was going to apply rust to it when i realized i was out...
so i will be applying that later

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2018/05/11 14:06:35

im slowly coming back into my grove
finished off red guardian.. ill have better pictures of him with the rest of the converted group later
all his pics came out blurry, but ill post one anyway
pretty easy to paint so i wont explain too much, cutting off the round shield of a metal model wasnt a fun task tho

next up is this little ninja,
was pretty easy to paint aswell, although my flesh tone paint may be on its last leg,
its 20 yr old paint but i have trouble finding flesh tones i like, so i better start looking again
pretty simple paint job, my brother picked the colours two more are waitng on the shelf to be painted

also working on a heavy lazer team for a buddy of mine, it was partially painted by someone else... terribly uneven
not incredibly happy with how the lazer is turning out but its what it is

Deharen Workbench (new: marvel minis) @ 2018/05/22 18:17:29

Post by: LordRahl

so i started working on lady krone
started the shading on her Armour still a bit of work left there
i mixed red in with the flesh tones to get her skin colour, haven't decided on her staff at all
burning skulls on the base are pretty much done fire kinda mixes into her legs on purpose
gold needs to be highlighted, teeth painted ect
without further ado here she is about half finished

next model ive prepared im calling it done even though i feel something is missing is strix from the BMG
brown with gold highlights i almost wanna strip her and do her in black but i wont ill probably touch up the gold
mainly because it doesn't stick out enough but alas she is done

i essentially gave up and im calling the heavy lazer team done
the hey you shouting helper is painted up, just noticed the belt buckle isnt painted
its for table top play so im just gonna let him loose as is now

see im getting back into the swing of things, cursing at brushes because they lost thier point and all
