Hi there, welcome to my blog of doom. Here, I will be posting up projects, commissions and lost of awesome stuff so sit back, grab a beer and enjoy the ride.

Here is the current backlog status...
-Five regular Terminators - In progress, they are base coated and have started adding a green wash to some of them. I need to buy some terminator bases for them though, I'm thinking about getting some special sculpted, scenic ones.
-A squad of Khorne Marines converted to Nurgle - In progress, they are base-coated and have started adding washes and detailing them. Still got a long way to go with them before they are completed though.
-Custom Built Huron Blackheart - Basecoated at the moment.
-Custom Built Kharn - Basecoated at the moment.
-Metal Chaos Space Marine Lord of Khorne - Basecoated at the moment.
-17 Plague Zombies - In varying states of completion; some are complete, some are nearly complete and some are basecoated.
-20 Night Goblins - They just need detailing and to finish off the red shafts of the spears.
-One Troll - Started painting the skin, but nothing else.
-Custom Bolt-Thrower - Basecoated.
-Two Infinity Aleph Minis - Basecoated.
-Ten Custom Female Savlar Chem-Dogs - Basecoated.
-One Plague Drone - Got the fleshy areas nearly done, still has a long way to go though

I have just finished off a commission for someone. I had to paint up 38 Skaven clanrats, which was a massive pain in the ass, but it's satisfying seeing them done now. I'm pretty pleased with how they have turned out. They are a pretty decent tabletop standard for horde miniatures. Hopefully the client will be happy with them.

So my target for the end of the week is to have the last of the Plague Zombies painted up ready for a game of 40k on the weekend and to have the Night Goblins painted up and put in my display cabinet. What I have left to do on the Night Goblins is to paint up the metal bits, the brown rope, highlight the black robes and paint the rims of the bases black. The Plague Zombies need black boots and ammo pouches, metal areas painted up, purple wash on the skin, green wash on the armour, a drybrush on the whole mini, agrax earthshade on the whole mini and the rims on the bases painted black. So as you can see I still have quite a bit to do, but I can get it done.

I'm pretty excited about the 40k game, I haven't played 40k in a while!

Some people are like 'oh no! GW changed the base size! I need to re-base my entire army now' I'm sitting there thinking are you serious? As I cut roughly terminator sized bases out of a sheet of cardboard.

Hey guys! So I decided that I want to create some big models for my Nurgle army. I really want to add some big scratch builds, but want to start relatively small and work my way up to making the huge titans, learning as I go, so I thought that scratch building an Imperial Knight scale model would be the best first step. So what I have done is work on a couple of concept sketches of different possible designs for this Chaos Knight. My favourites definitely are the first and last, so I'll probably do some better detailed sketches of those two and then develop the final design and do some scale drawings.

Once I get everything on my painting backlog finished, I can begin to actually make the Knight. It will be so badass!

Thanks for reading.

Thank you.

Been working on my Terminators. I have gotten them glued to their bases and painted the bases up with a brown base colour. I think that they are looking pretty good so far.
Next what I'll be doing on them is base-coating the trim a yellow before I paint on the gold and start to dry-brush the bases.

Also, hopefully I'll get a 40k game in tomorrow.

First one to me look's the best, it's has good amount of armour, but not to much to look more like a normal chaos knight. But also not to much mutations were it's look's like an up right soul grinder. My only thing that i don't like is the fact that he looks way to much like Typhon, so maybe use the fourth knights head.

I agree, I don't really want a Typhus look, it needs to stand out and look different. I also don't want it to look too much like a soul grinder otherwise I might as well just buy a soul grinder.
I'll do some more sketches today, whilst I'm on the train to the wargaming club, I'll draw design #1 with design #4's head.

Had a good day yesterday. I went to the wargaming club, dropped of the commission and got payed. Then joined in with the new dungeons and dragons campaign.

I have also started dong a sketch of the final design for the Nurgle Knight. Some pics will be up soon.

So here is the final design for my Plague Knight. I went for design #1 for the body and design #4 for the head.
I'm pleased with the design, it has the right mix of mechanical and biological, so it looks like pretty Nurgly but not so much that it looks like a soulgrinder. What I'll be doing next is doing some sketches of the back and then do some scale-drawings.

I think that the rage around the new direction that Games Workshop is taking Warhammer Fantasy needs to stop. Sure it is a large departure from previous iterations of Warhammer Fantasy, which may make some long time players feel alienated. But it's time to face some hard facts. GW didn't completely change one of their core games for gaks and giggles. If Warhammer Fantasy was selling well under 8th edition they would of made a 9th edition largely the same. The fact that they completely changed the game tells me that Warhammer Fantasy was a dying game that clearly wasn't making enough money off it's remaining hardcore fans and wasn't getting enough new players to keep it alive.

Need miniatures painted?

What is your pricing structure like?
My pricing structure is very simple. Unlike other commission miniature painters, I don't have set levels like 'table top' or 'display quality'. Why? Because everyone's idea of say, tabletop quality is different. One person's table top quality is another person's 'display quality' and vice versa. I keep things simple and charge per hour of painting [current rate - £3]. So the more hours spent on a commission, the better the outcome will be. All you have to do is state how many hours you would like me to spend on your miniatures and I will paint them for the agreed upon number of hours, no more, no less. If a client wanted me to spend 10 hours on a 10 man squad of Space Marines, the total would be £30. Also, I'd would just like to point out that quality may vary depending on squad size and hours requested. If the same client wanted me to spend the same amount of time on a 20 man squad of Space Marines the quality may suffer as it's double the amount of miniatures to paint in the same amount of time.

What is the process like?
What you have to do is send me a message detailing what you would like painted up and how many hours you'd like me to spend on it. I let you know whether I can fit it in to my schedule. If so, you can either send the miniatures off to me or hand them over to me in person. I'll get them painted to the specified amount of time and take photos of them for you to review and let me know if you are happy with them. Once the photos are sent to you, you have three weeks to let me know if you are happy with them and to complete payment. Once the payment is complete I will send the painted miniatures to you, free of charge. Failure to complete payment in those three weeks will result in the miniatures becoming my property.

I have done a quick sketch of what the back of the Nurgle Knight will look like. I was going to go for a tank full of septic looking goo at first, but I decided to keep it simple and go for a spinal column with the ribs protruding from it.

Another big gribbly thing that I am planning on creating is a Slaaneshi Daemon Engine as I am planning on doing a Slaaneshi force.
Here is the initial rough sketch just outlining the basic idea. I want it to look quite twisted, almost surreal looking, so I took inspiration from films such as The Exorcist and The Thing. It's going to have that arched back pose, like Regan in The Exorcist when she's crawling down the stairs.

It will have insectoid bits protruding from it and be disturbingly gruesome like the monster in The Thing.

And I was thinking about giving it hair similar to the monsters hair in Mama or kinda like The Grudge, long black messy and creepy. I am thinking that the hair on my creature will be modelled to look like it's alive and can snatch people up.

What do you guys think?

Started working on some gruesome, daemonic-looking snails to use in tabletop games, mainly for my Nurgle army though. There's still a lot of work to do on them, but I'm pretty pleased with how they look so far. The shells are actual sea snail shells collected from the beach whilst on one of my walks. When it comes to painting them, I'll definitely be going for more of an aquatic theme.

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates, I lost my painting groove. I'll try to get some more painting done tomorrow, I promise.

I thought that I would just show you a quick hobby tip. The other day I found some old egg cartons and realized that my paints can fit in the slots. So I painted them up to make them look a little prettier. I think that they work well as cheap paint holders, although I reckon that you could use them for cheap miniature transport as well.

The Night Goblins are nearly done, I just have to finish off some details and give them a wash. The Plague Marines need a bit more work, they have been inked and I started painting up some of the metal areas. I also have some more Plague Zombies/mutants to finish as well.

I have now finished off painting up the twenty-strong Night Goblin squad!

Here's what my backlog looks like now...

-Five regular Terminators - In progress, they are base coated and have started adding a green wash to some of them.
-5 Plague Zombies - In varying states of completion; some are complete, some are nearly complete and some are basecoated.
-Custom Bolt-Thrower - Basecoated.
-Two Infinity Aleph Minis - Basecoated.
-Ten Custom Female Savlar Chem-Dogs - Basecoated.
-One Plague Drone - Got the fleshy areas nearly done, still has a long way to go though.

Hey guys, so today I have done a bit more painting. I have just been busy detailing my custom Nurgle Huron Blackheart. I think that he has an infiltrate special rule, which allows him to infiltrate in a squad or two on to the table. I reckon he'll be great if I use him with Typhus and the Plague Zombies. I have also been working on yet another Plague Marine squad [I have way too many of them]. The Plague Marine squad is coming along pretty nicely. They started off as Khorne followers, but I have been building up the plague, slowly converting them in to Papa Nurgle's children. I still really need to get more washes from my local Gee-dubs as well (proud Nurgle followers get through a lot of citadel washes! ). Once I get the washes I can finish painting up the Plague Z's. I initially only had five zombies to finish painting, but thought that I might as well include a squad of custom built mutants (that I was trying to sell) in to the squad as well, so I actually have around fifteen to finish instead of five.

Finished painting up the looted Dwarf cannon, which I'll use as a Goblin Spear Chukka.

My aim is to get as much of my fantasy stuff that I have yet to paint, finished, as possible so I can take it all down to a big game of Age of Sigmar at the wargaming club on the weekend.

Had a big Age of Sigmar game!

It took ages it play and we didn't get to finish it, but it was still such a fun game. The more games of Age of Sigmar that I play, the more I enjoy it.

The objective of the game was to try and get most models holding that Dragonfate Dais in the center of the board by the end of the game. It was Chaos, Dark Elves, Goblins and Skaven vs Stormcast Eternals, Empire, Dwarves and Wood Elves. The funniest moment definitely had to be when the Ophidian Archway came alive and ate the giant! Unfortunately my Goblins were taking quite a battering from the Stormcast Eternals which got me thinking about what I can add to the army to bolster it up. I'm thinking about starting with two squads of Spider Riders. On their war-scroll they have a special rule where on rolls of six to hit, the spiders inflict poisoned bites which inflict mortal wounds, which should negate the Stormcasts 3+ save and re-roll on ones. Also Spider Riders have an 8" move, meaning that they would be a great unit to attack on the enemy flanks whilst my main force attacks the enemy front. I also plan on getting some more trolls (one is not enough ) and a lot more Night Goblins so I can have 40-man squads instead of 20-man squads.

Thanks for pointing it out. I think that the problem is that the photo quality is not as good. When I finish a miniature I take the time to set up a background and get decent lighting. When I am working on something I tend to just take quick photos on my phone. I'll try to improve the quality of the WIP photos.

I played a big game of Age of Sigmar with a few friends. It was good (Storm-casts, Elves and Empire vs evil (Dark Elves, Chaos and Goblins). The objective for the good guys was to stop the bad guys from reaching the inner section of the fortress. (Unfortunately) the good guys won although I reckon if we carried on for a couple more turns, the inner section would have been taken and it would of been a victory for the evil guys. . It had to be one of the most enjoyable wargaming experiences that I have had in a long time.

Never let snails near a Nuclear reactor... Been painting up these miniatures that I'll be using as Chaos Spawn in my Chaos Space Marine army. They were made using shells found at my local beach and lots of greenstuff and hot-glue. Then I painted them up and added various washes and inks. I am really pleased with them so far, they look truly gruesome. What I have left to do is add more slime, using my super awesome slime recipe (baking soda + green ink) and finish of the detailing and add some flock to the base.

Now this is properly disgusting and obscene, Nurgle will be pleased ^^ !
Just an idea though, if it fits your fluff you could '40Kify' them a bit by sticking trophee spikes, hobby chains, vehicle bits, seals, corpses, or nurgle Icons on them.
Hell, you gould almost ft an entire Nurgle palanquin on one of those. But really, the pure warp beast look is totally fine too; your call of course !

Anyway, I like what I am seeing !

I have been working on constructing some more Chaos Spawn. So far I have glued the shells on to the bases and started doing some of the greenstuff work. I think that they are looking pretty good so far, although the tentacles still need a bit more detailing, they look a bit too smooth at the moment.

I have also added a glossy finish on the two Spawn that I have painted up, to make them look even more gross and to prevent chipping.

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year festivities. I certainly have, that's why I haven't been posting much on this blog. But now I'm back, eager to get miniatures finished off and start planned projects that I said I'd do, but have not got round to starting them yet. So currently, what I have to finish are:

- 10 Chaos Space Marines
- 10 Plague Zombies/Mutants
- 8 Chaos Cultists
- 5 Chaos Terminators
- 1 Plague Drone
- 3 Custom Chaos Spawn
- 4 Random Ork models
- 3 Chaos Lords

It looks like I still have a fair bit of work to do, but all of the models that are listed are in the process of being painted and have a base-coat on them, minimum. Once I get all of it painted, I can then focus on starting the projects that I was planning, such as Nurgle Imperial Knight scratch-build and the Slaaneshi-style Soulgrinder scratchbuild. I have concocted a few other ideas for deliciously Chaotic projects, but I won't go in to detail about them till I am ready to work on them.

Looking good ! The khorne helmets are unorthodox but the color scheme make them work as the red echoes nicely with the corrupted armor plates.

The out of focus minis look promising too ^^ !

Thanks. The Khornate guys were brought from a friend and I was trying to figure out how I could include them in the army, whilst retaining that classic khornate feel to them.

Still working on the Khornate guys who have converted to Nurgle.
Not much left to do on them now, just a bit more detailing and a clear coat. Then I can take some decent photos of them.

Hey people!

Here is the beginning of scratch-building a Nurgle Knight Titan for my Chaos Space Marines army. So far it's just a wire frame, but I plan on bulking it up using paper and tape before I start sculpting on it, just to keep the weight down.

Thanks for the replies! Unfortunately, the wire armature method of construction wasn't working very well for me, it was way too flimsy and kept falling apart. What I am thinking about is using more of a solid structure as the base model to work on, so maybe using a toy or existing model kit. LEGO's Bionicle might be a good candidate as they are mechanical looking, can be posed and are modular as well. I have actually made a Knight a while ago out of Bionicle. Unfortunately I didn't get round to finishing it and ended up throwing it away.

Cool scheme, looks great with everything unified.

With regards to your armature woes, Do you have any buddies who work in Supermarkets?

To seal bags of food waste they often use 'double loop ties'/'Sack ties' made of steel.

They are flexible enough but also Incredibly strong and make great heavy duty armatures. The smaller gauge wire you're using is better for details like hands and such.

You can also use sprue with Ooodles of plastic glue.

Weird thing but i really like your handwriting haha.

Thanks for the suggestion! I know of one friend who worked in a supermarket, but I'm unsure if he still does now, as I haven't talked to him in a while. I might go to the DIY store and see what kinds of wire they have there. The main problem with the last one was definitely that the wire wasn't sturdy enough.

Another issue I have discovered is figuring out how to add bulk to the armature without using heavy and potentially messy materials like clay and milliput. On the last attempt, I tried using scrunched up paper, taped to the wire frame and tried sculpting on top of that, but I found that the paper starts to unravel and unstick the tape.

Spoiler:

As you can see, it is an absolute mess.

One possible option is to just spend a lot of time, building up the wire frame and actually just start building the basic form of it completely out of wire. Then add a couple of layers of modroc to provide a surface to sculpt on. That's the exact process I used to make this fairy tree...

Well I also used metal wire as the basic armature of my dread. I bulked them up using cotton heavily covered in PVA. You can see it on the sword arms of that dreadnought and of that one.
Of course, you get a very organic texture, for the armor plates, I guess plasticard is the way I would go.
Damn, I really want to build a knight now ^^.

They are some awesome dreadnoughts! I'll definitely try cotton and PVA technique. As for the armour, I still have a decent amount of thin plastic sheets left, so I'll be using them.

Finished painting up that squad of Khornate Chaos Space Marines turned Nurgle worshippers! I think they look good. Pretty pleased with how they have turned out.

I imagine that they are a rag tag bunch Khornate Space Marines left behind after some sort of Black Crusade so they decided to just tag along with the Nurgle worshippers. Or maybe they could be Marines from the World Eaters legion who were on the brink of death after being wounded in a a Black Crusade but some crazy Nurgle Apothecary decided to salvage them and infect them with Nurgles Plagues in an attempt to stop them from dying. So they can be used to bolster the ranks of the Nurgle forces.

There are so many potential back stories for these guys!

Very nice to see that squad finished, that was a unique and ballsy concept to pick, and they turned out great. Khorne will not like that one bit though ^^ !

Regarding cotton+PVA I should mention I sometimes used more than one armature in order to give a proper support to the shape. While this is not as modifiable as clay, you can still touch it up while it dries. To cave in the inside of an elbow, I wrapped metal wire around the arm and only removed it once everything had dried up.
Of course, the final touch ups need to be done using greenstuff imho.

Good luck, and keep us posted !

Thanks, I like adding conceptually unique items in to my army, it gives it even more character. Khorne definitely won't be happy though.

I'm going to spend a lot more time on the armature this time, making sure to get it bulky and make it a bit more 3-dimensional to support the cotton and PVA. I went to the shop a day ago and bought some cotton and pVA glue, so hopefully I can start doing this project today.

[I'll take a better photo soon]

Yesterday, I managed to finish up my Kharn the Betrayer counts-as. I'd like to think that despite the Khornate squad joining up with the Nurgle forces after being left for dead by their original Khornate warband, they are not 100% with the forces of Nurgle. Their ferocious blood lust and brutal psycho-surgery make them highly unpredictable. Only a leader who is just as bloodthirsty will be able to led these fearsome warriors. This leader isn't actually Kharn, but decided to model himself in Kharn's image due to the fact that Kharn is one of the greatest warriors.

I had some Ork bitz lying around so I thought that I might as well assemble them, it can be the beginnings of revisiting the army that got me in to 40k. So I have started painting up one of the Orks that I have assembled. It doesn't look like much from the photos, but I have only just started laying down the base colours. It'll look better eventually, I promise. As you can see, I decided to paint the skin purple, which is quite a bold move, considering that Orks are supposed to be green. The thing is, my Chaos Space Marines are green, so if I went with another green army, I might get sick of painting green. Also, the purple makes the orks stand out and means I can come up with an awesome backstory for why they are that colour. I'm thinking of something along the lines of an apocalyptic nuclear fallout mutated them and caused their skin to change colour.

So I have started doing work on the Nurgle Knight. I started off by using my dremel to drill two holes in a rough base so I can thread the wire through when making the armature. Then I started building the armature, making sure to get the posing just right and make sure that it's strong enough. I actually twisted several wires together to make the wire stronger, as the wire is quite thin and wouldn't support the weight on its own. So far it's holding up okay. Next I have started using tin foil to give the model some bulk and to help make the frame stronger. Once I have finished with the tin foil, I can then begin to use the PVA glue and cotton wool to build up the rest of the model bit by bit, starting at the feet and working my way upwards because I know that if I put the mixture all on at once, it will probably all fall off.

Thanks! It sure will make things easier.

Here's how it's looking so far...

It is looking a bit weird and haphazard at the moment, but it's important to remember that it's still just a frame and the early stages of the project. It still has a long way to go. I'll probably be doing some more work on the frame, adding some more foil just to bulk it up a bit more. Then I can begin to use the PVA and cotton mix.

Time for a new update! So I have assembled and primed my Warp Talons. As you can see, they have undergone extensive kitbashing with Berserker bitz and primed in a reddy-brown. This is because I'm making these guys proper Khornate Marines, so red and brass with lots and lots of skulls. I got a bit sick of painting green marines, so decided to paint up some red ones instead and go for some Khornate allies.

Finally finished up my squad of magnetised Nurgle Terminators. They took a while to complete, but I'm pleased with how they turned out. They look suitably Nurgle and fit in well with the rest of my army. The only thing I dislike about them is the fact that I assembled them before I had bought a dremel, meaning that the magnets are stuck on the outside of the model, rather than embedded in a drilled hole, resulting in the arms sticking out a bit too much from the body. But at least I have learned from my mistakes and it's not a bad first attempt at magnetising. Hopefully I'll get to have a go at magnetising another squad soon, making sure to drill holes and embed the magnets in to the models so the magnetised parts stick properly together.

Hey everyone!

Thanks for all the comments!

I have something new to show off! I have been working on a giant Plague Bearer. So far I have just the main body constructed, I still need to work on the legs and the arms. How I constructd this so far is by rolling up and taping news paper. Then I added paper-mache over the top of it and then lastly, filler over the top of that. The filler gave it a nice nurgly texture, but it was a bit time consuming, covering the whole thing in it which is why a got some modroc for when I make the arms and legs.

I have made some progress on my giant Daemon, it now has legs! I started off by making some small holes on either side of the body, to insert bamboo sticks, which will keep the legs rigid. I constructed the legs separately, using toilet roll tubes and news paper as a base, then modroc over the top of them to make them nice and strong. Then I inserted the other ends of the bamboo sticks in to the legs and added modroc over where the body meets the legs.

The legs look a little weird at the moment because the points at which they join to the body are a bit close together. But that will be covered up once I bulk the belly up more and add the guts spilling out of it. Also the legs look much better when the model is standing up rather than lying down.

Thank you. I was planning to, but with the legs added, it currently stands at 28" which makes it a bit oversized for a great unclean one. I think it's roughly the same size as a Warlord.

Hey people! I have a brand new update!

I have started work on basing my Plague Demon. So far, what I have done. is cut out a rectangle of board and nailed some willow sticks to it.

Then I threaded the legs on to the willow sticks....

There's still a lot of work that needs to be done, to keep it on the base. Unfortunately, even with the willow sticks providing a bit of support, the model still wants to lean backwards, which could break the legs off. So I'm planning on using some metal wire to give it some more structural integrity so the whole thing should stay put and not rip off it's base.

Anyway, I had fun painting this miniature. He may be carrying a Khornate icon, but he decided to switch Gods, that's why he is painted up in my Nurgle army colours.

Here's how the Nurgle Titan is coming along. This is definitely one of the biggest and most ambitious projects I have done for miniature wargaming.

Hello everyone! I have been working on some Spider Riders for my Goblin army. These are actually some old models, I had lying in my bits box, so I thought that I would try to salvage and restore them the best I could so that they can be used in games. Here is what I have done so far...

I had been busy filing away old glue and bits and pieces stuck to the spiders, clearing them up, ready for some paint. I also re-glued the riders back on to them. The leader of the squad didn't have a spider, so instead I decided to use an old, broken, plastic bee toy I had lying around. It's bigger than the spiders, so it's quite fitting for the boss. I just have to build some wings for the bee...

Also, I cut out some more bases out of MDF for the models, as I only had one spare plastic base. Once the bases were cut out, I painted them, added sand and painted them again, to seal in the sand.

Hello everyone! I have been working on Spider/Bee-riders for my Goblin army. I detailed the wings of the bee with some hot glue and begun painting them. The wings look a bit crude, considering it's just card and hot glue, but they look better than I was expecting them to turn out and they are not even finished yet. Hopefully they'll look okay once they are completely done. In my defence it is my first attempt at scratch building insect wings, and they are pretty hard to get looking right on a model because if you look at a real insect's wings, you can see that they are very complicated and detailed.

I have also given the bee and the base a drybrush of white and then a black wash over it. Next I'll start working on the fine details to make it stand out and also working on the rider.

I have dry brushed the spider riders with some white paint as well. They are looking pretty messy at the moment, but once I start getting some more paints and washes on them, they should look good.

Thanks for reading!

Hey people, I thought that I'd write an update detailing where I am at with my projects. I have most of my wargaming stuff painted up, I just have a few squads to finish up. As for the Nurgle Titan, it's slowly getting there, sculpting is nowhere near finished, but progress on it has been made. I'll post up some pics soon.

Hey everyone! I have been working on a few bits and thought I would just show how they are coming along.

Here's the Goblin riding a giant bee model that I'm working on for my Goblin army. I had a bottle cap with a bee on it lying around and thought that it is fitting for this miniature. I was originally going to use the bottle cap as the Goblin's shield but it was a bit too big for that, so I decided to turn it in to an icon/banner instead, using some plastic rod as the pole. So far I'm pleased with how it's looking.

As you can see, I have used a spare Goblin to make it look as though he's holding the icon. Also, the Goblin adds support to the banner so it doesn't snap off.

Next up is the Khorne Warp-Talons. They are coming along pretty nicely. I have finished getting the basic colours down on to three of them and have also added some layers of ink to those three to add some depth. I'm actually planning on giving them a coat of red ink next, because the theme I want to try to portray with these guys is that they are soaked in blood. Warp-Talons are supposed to come crashing down in to the enemy ranks, causing fear and terror amongst the enemy, so I thought that making the Warp-Talons look as though they are soaked in the blood of their enemies would be appropriate for causing fear. Also it would be appropriate considering that they are dedicated to Khorne, the god of blood, skulls and violence!

Hey people! It's been a while since I posted here.

I have finished painting up another squad of miniatures for my Nurgle Chaos Space Marines army. The squad I have finished is some Female Nurgle Cultists that I had converted from Dark Eldar Wyches, Daemonette parts, miscellaneous bits and some greenstuff. I'm really pleased with how they came out. When I was working on them, I was thinking that they were going to turn out awful, but I added some Nuln Oil shade to them and they came out looking pretty good in the end, the shade tying the paint scheme together and give it some depth. Here are just some quick photos taken using my phone. I'll take some better photos using my camera later.

Thanks for the comments.

The big demon titan started falling apart. I have spent long enough on it to realise it's not worth wasting any more time on it, so the project is now scrapped. I'm not a competent enough scratch-builder, so I'll think I'll just stick to assembling and converting actual model kits from now on.

Yeah, it's a shame when a project doesn't quite go to plan, but at least I have learnt some useful stuff and can spend more time on other projects. Shame that my hobby blog is already devolving in to a blog of my failed attempts at making stuff. I'm thinking about quitting being so cheap and fork out some money for the Imperial Knight kit to Nurglify instead of trying to make one out of trash. It's coming up to Christmas so I'll think I'll treat myself.

That might indeed provide you a sound structure to work on. Just a thought about your demon titan, how about repurposing it as terrain ? Like a giant fallen corpse with open wounds where nurglings can play ?
Lying on its back/side you probably would not be bothered by it falling down...

Yesterday, I started work on painting up another squad of Plague Bearers that I bought with a GW gift voucher. I started off with a brown primer, then I basecoated the skin, using vallejo 'basic skin colour' and once that was dry I added a GW 'Druchii Violet' shade. I also added 'Reikland Fleshshade' to the base to make the texture of the basing materials stand out more. What's next is that I'll be drybrushing the minis with more vallejo 'basic skin colour' and then adding a layer of 'Reikland Fleshshade' over that, just to dull down the purple. My aim is to achieve an undead 'rotting look' to them.

The DE Wyches are amazing! Your combination of bits is terrific. Be warned; I may steal that conversion And the purple plague bearers are great too. It's nice to see another Vallejo primer user. Good choice using brown. My first choice would have been white, but it would have been way too bright. What colours are you using for the blades?

Thanks! Converting the Wyches in to Chaos Cultists was fun and not too difficult to do. I'm hoping to add a cultist/renegade regiment on to my Chaos forces.

So, I have been doing some more work on my Plague Bearers. After using the purple wash on them, I dry brushed them with the Vallejo basic skin colour and added a wash of 'Reikland Fleshshade'. This was just to reduce how purple they looked, making their skin look more skin-like. Once I did that, I added 'Mephiston Red' to all the gory details, such as the guts. Then I added a discontinued GW paint, 'Mechrite Red' over the 'Mephiston Red' to make it a lot deeper red. Lastly I added patches of green wash over the skin to make it look more rancid and rotten, like it's decaying. These photos don't quite do the minis justice, but I'll upload them for now, and try to get some better photos later, so stay tuned.

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a merry Christmas and Happy New Year! . Sorry for the lack of updates, I have been burnt out of the hobby for a little bit but I'm back now with some exciting new updates.

Looking on the front page of my blog, I see a lot of broken picture links, spent a good half an hour just trying to sort out/ get rid of those broken pictures. That's the last time I link Facebook pictures to this blog.

Anyway... time to stop ranting and time to show off some miniatures. The Plague Bearer Squad is coming along nicely. I have the skin mostly finished now and have beep painting all of the details such as the boils yellow, teeth and horns white, swords black and eyes green. Now I just have to finish some detailing on the banner bearer and the Nurglings, then add grass to the base, then clear coat them. After all of that they should be all done!

[Keep in mind that the pictures came out a little dark, I'll take some better photos soon!]

Now it's time to announce the new project! One of the presents I got for Christmas was £25 worth of GW vouchers. Two days ago I thought that I would spend the Games Workshop vouchers that I got for Christmas and a bit of cash on starting a Horus Heresy Death Guard army, so I bought Betrayal at Calth. It was pretty pricey, even with the vouchers but it'll be fun assembling, painting and playing Warhammer 30k, I cannot wait!

I have been magnetising the arms of the Contemptor Dreadnought, so I can swap out the weaponry. Plus if I want to use an auto-cannon dreadnought, for example, I wont have to buy a whole new dreadnought, I can just buy the weapon arms from ForgeWorld. What I did to magnetise this guy was using a dremel to drill holes in to the arm sockets and the ball joints in the arms, then I glued magnets in to the holes, making sure they are facing the right way so they don't repel. A great tip that someone told me on Facebook is that next time I magnetise something (e.g.) a Contemptor Dread', I can save magnets and effort by adding magnets in the arm sockets and adding something metal, such as screws in to the arms.

Been working some more on my Death Guard army. I've been working on the bases, trying to get them finished off. They are coming along nicely. I have a lot of them finished and have organised the ones I have left to do...

... all the finished bases are off-camera. Once I get the rest of these bases finished, I'll take a photo of all the finished bases together.

I've also been working on assembling the tactical squads. I've done some light conversion and kitbash work to them to make them more personalised and unique as well.

In this photo, the guy on the left is my own custom model representing Nathaniel Garro, a Deathguard character from the Horus Heresy book series. I made him through just kitbashing and some minor conversion work. I'm really pleased with the result and looking forward to painting him up.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more!

Hey, it's been a while since I posted a significant update. Sorry about that, I have been dealing with burnout when it comes to wargaming and art block when it comes to drawing. But now I am back with a shiny new update to show off everything I have been working on!

So first things first... I have been finishing off the last of the bases for my pre-Heresy Death Guard army. Here's the Terminator bases sprayed brown and with a black ink wash over them. Also, before priming them, I decided to make them look more swamp-like and slightly corrupted by Nurgle by adding tendrils of hot glue over them to give them more of a gross, 'alive' look to them.

Then I drybrushed the bases with lighter browns, bone colour and white. I drybrushed the slime tendrils green, then added some Typhus Corrosion textured paint to darken the green down and give the slime more of a texture so it doesn't look like just globs of hot glue.

Lastly, I have been preparing for making some more Nurgle Chaos Spawn from snail shells. I got loads of shells from when I got some Escargot from the supermarket. So far I have cleaned up the shells and cut out some circles from some pizza packaging, just to see what sized bases I'd likely need to buy. I decided to buy plastic bases instead of trying to make my own, as the plastic bases look a lot neater and make the scratch build look a lot less 'cheap'.

Here's an update for where I am now with my Death Guard force. All of the bases are done and now I am working on the Marines. I have been sculpting Nurgley corruption to make them look like they are in the process of being corrupted by Nurgle. I have also converted the Captain's power-maul in to a scythe to better represent the Death Guard theme.

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I have done one of these hobby updates. I haven't been working on my wargaming miniatures as much as I should be. But I'm feeling like getting back in to the hobby now, finishing painting the miniatures that I have got and hopefully playing some games of Warhammer 40k once the new edition drops.

Today I've been finishing off some Goblin Spider Riders. I didn't photograph them as I only did a very quick paint job on them to get them done and out of the way, nothing too spectacular.

I have been doing some more work on my Pre-Heresy Deathguard army. I've started priming some of the miniatures with a brown spray. I went with the brown spray just to give a bit of depth to the miniature when I airbrush it with more of a light grey/bone mix. Also the brown primer acts as a great base for rust effects, which is perfect for Death Guard.

I've also been working on assembling the Terminators. I did some conversion work to the squad leader, giving him the Power Maul that I had chopped off when converting the captain's weapon in to a scythe.

I started scratch-building a new leader for my Nurgle Daemons. An Epidemius that I'm scratch building using an old Monsters inc toy. All I've done at the moment is build a handle for his scythe out of some sticks. He's not looking like much at the moment, but once I get his chair made and start doing some sculpting work, then I reckon he'll look badass.

Stay tuned for more...

Hello cultists! I have a brand new shiny update!

I have been doing some more work on the scratch-built Epidemus of Nurgle. I started building his throne using lollipop sticks and started sculpting the lower portion of his body. I feel like he's already starting to really come together.

What I will be doing next is finishing off the sculpting then work on making the blade of his scythe out of plasticard. I have some ideas about how I will be basing him as well. I was watching a video by 'Nergling'...

...where he talks about using old templates as bases for his bigger miniatures. I have a spare small blast template that is the right size for the miniature, so I'm thinking that I'll give Nergling's basing technique a go. As for the pillar of little Nurgle Daemons carrying the throne, as seen in the official mini, I'm planning on buying a box of these plastic nurglings from GW and converting them up to form a pillar.

All I have left to finish up now is the Terminator squad and that'll be all of them done and painted. I'll post some pics of my army later on today, so stay tuned for that.

So, how should I expand my 30k Death Guard force? I'm thinking that Mortarion and Typhus are a 'must buy' at some point; can't have a Death Guard army without those two. I'm also thinking about adding some 'armour' to my force, buy a tank with a big gun to really beef up the firepower. Anyone got any recommendations of which tank to go for?

I've got some pics of my Death Guard army so far. Personally, I am really pleased with how they are looking. I decided to go for a slightly-corrupted, highly-weathered look, as though they are beginning to get taken over by Nurgle.

Here's a pic of my power-armoured captain. I decided to convert his melee weapon in to a scythe because I felt that it was more appropiate for the Death Guard.

Here's my Terminator-armoured captain. Didn't do anything special in terms of conversions with him. Just gave him a weathered, Death Guard paint-job.

Here's a Death Guard tactical squad with my own custom Nathaniel Garro leading the squad. He was made out of an assortment of spare bitz.

Here's some pics of my Dreadnought. I found this model the most fun to paint. I really went to town with the weathering, adding lots of chipping and rust streaks on the armour. Also the arms are magnetised so I can take them off/swap them out.

Hey everyone! I went to the wargaming club yesterday. Played my 2nd game of 40k 8th ed, it was my Death Guard vs Necrons. I lost pretty badly, but learnt loads about the new rules and how to better improve my army composition, I really enjoyed using the pox-walkers.

With their Disgustingly Resilient rule and their rule that allows them to gain a model for every enemy model killed by them in combat, they are a great tar pit unit. Something interesting about using them against Necrons though, is that Necrons get there reanimation protocols roll, so if a pox walker fells a necron, gains an extra pox walker and the necron reanimates in the necron players turn, does that mean that you've essentially created a pox-walker farm? I found that the pox walkers aren't so good against single models though, like an HQ because, while they can still act like a tar pit, it doesn't make use of their ability to gain models, which is one of their core strengths in my opinion.

The Plague Marines are a tough unit. Great for holding objectives although I found their shooting output to be relatively week, they didn't really kill much. Although I think that could just be me not utilising them effectively. They are primarily a mid-ranged unit, whereas I was using them at long range because I wanted to keep them on the objective.

Finished working on this quick conversion I made. I had some spare Goblins and a toy insect that was missing some wings. So with some plastic, some hot-glue, a bottlecap and a square piece of wood, I made a Goblin Warboss and his assistant riding a giant bee. The wings could be a little better, but I think that it's alright for a quick conversion using essentially scrap parts.

ALSO...

Finished painting up the Death Guard Terminators. Really pleased with how these guys came out. Let me know what you think of them.

Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a merry Christmas holidays. Here's some badass Christmas music.

Now... to the business of hobbying... I pretty much have ALL of my wargaming projects finished and done. So now, with nothing to work on or paint, I have been feeling a bit lost. I decided that a good thing to do, while I have nothing really on the backburner, is start developing my ideas for new projects to do. The first thing is that I want to re-visit the old scratch built nurgle titan idea. I know that my previous ones failed, but I have a lot more faith in this attempt as we learn most from out failures. I'm going with the same design as the one I drew for my previous attempt, but it's going to be made out of materials that are more structurally sound and less prone to falling apart. Also the previous attempt was more along the lines of Warlord Titan scale, whereas this one will be Knight Titan scale, which should mean the project will be more manageable.

Hello! Thought I'd do an update on the new Nurgle Knight build attempt. I've started construction and I'm pretty pleased with what I've got done so far. I decided on using the body of a Mr Potato Head as the base of the body, as it's nice and sturdy. Then I started marking out roughly, where I was going to attach the legs. The legs are made from wrapping paper tube segments, which are nice and sturdy. I made sure to cut the tubes at an angle at the point they meet the body, so it fits on to the body without any huge gaps. I also started work on constructing the head and neck. The neck is just another wrapping paper tube segment. The basis of the head is an old stress-ball. The head is looking a bit small at the moment, but once I start building up the mouth and eye, it will bulk out and fit the model a bit better.

And here is a shot for scale. As you can see he'll still be pretty big, even though he's a smaller scale than my previous attempt to build him!

What I plan on doing next is starting to construct a solid base for him, so he can stand up without me having to lean him against something, which'll make it easier to do more construction and to, later, do the sculpting process. Also, another source of inspiration for this build is the Mancubus from Doom. I'm definitely thinking about doing that carapace style armour on the upper section of my Nurgle Knight and also build weapons that sort of look more organic as though they are growing out of his arms rather than looking strapped on.

Nice to see you revisiting your nurgle titan project ! Just a thought though, how about replacing the cardboard tubes with PVC ? They may carry weight better...

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I'll look in to getting some PVC pipe.

On an unrelated note, check out the new Great Unclean One that GW will be releasing. The one on the bottom right is the old forgeworld one for comparison.

Hey everyone! So, I spent some vouchers and money I got for Christmas on the Dark Imperium box set. So far I have all of the Nurgle forces assembled. I've been working on painting up the Plague Marine squad. They are almost completed, I just have a few bits to finish off on them. I decided to adapt the paint scheme of my Pre-Heresy deathguard for my Plague Marines, as I thought that the gritty scheme would work really well on them, as they're nurgle and deathguard.

Finished painting up my Pox Walkers. Really pleased with how they came out. I went for a paint scheme that was quick and simple to do (as I had 20 to paint up) but would still look good on the tabletop. :]

Oof. It's been a while since I have posted on here but I have now returned from being swallowed up by The Warp. So I have been working on a fair few things since I have been gone from this place, I've finished painting up the Dark Imperium boxed set, here's a pic...

I also purchaced and painted a Death Guard battallion boxed set at the start of 2019...

Death Guard melee squad :

Plague Surgeon:

Foetid Bloat Drone (w) Fleshmower:

Death Guard Terminators:

Recently I've just finished painting up a Biologus Putrifier and am really pleased with how he came out. He's easily one of my best Death Guard minis and was generally super fun to paint up once I got the time consuming part of basecoating the bottles done. Also I'm really pleased with the photos I took of him. I think that my miniatures photography skills is definitely improving!

Hey everyone! Recently I have acquired the Foul Blightspawn miniature to add to my growing Deathguard collection. So I have been busy painting him up. Really pleased with how he is looking so far. I've used some UHU glue on the base, to get those slime effects to make it look as though he's been spewing the foul content of the tank on his back everywhere. Here's how he's looking so far...
