Post by: Antenociti

We have updated the main web-store with a new free-post option “AW FREE”.

This covers orders customer orders that contain only AW Products; meaning products made by us in the categories:
Antenociti’s Workshop,
AWI – Bases,
AWI-Scenery,
AWI-MDF,
AWI-Scenery Box Sets,
AWI-Vehicle Box-Sets,
AWI-Vehicles,
Décor-Plus,
G.O.T. Scenery,
G.O.T. Vehicles.
All such orders, over £7.00p value, are now eligible for UK free postage (Royal Mail 2nd Class only), so long as total weight is under 10kg.

Please bear in mind that this option is only available for shopping carts containing ONLY our products:

So if you want a single set of Infinity bases that cost £7.50p and are in the UK, then you will be eligible for free post.

If you add more “AW FREE” items to that order it will remain free-post, however if you add items that are not in “AW FREE” categories, then you will lose the free-postage*

The attached image shows you the AW categories and highlights the need to set Country to “United Kingdom”, enter a postcode and click “Get a quote” and you should then see the “Free UK Only RM 2nd Class” free post come up as a postage option.

Categories which qualify as AW Free also now have the “AW FREE” logo in the category header.

*Other free-post options remain valid, so you can still get free-postage with an order that combines AW and non-AW products, as described on the web-store: http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/membership-benefits.

Please also note new August Releases:

Any idea when or if your other 28mm sci fi vehicles / tanks / apc's / 4x4's will be returning?

I'd be interested in knowing that too!

Those Svalheim-themed bases look fantastic by the way.

http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/news/got-vehicle-re-vamp/

That said.. a bit more detail for you folks on Dakkadakka...

We're returning some of the original models starting from next month once the new prototypes and production moulds are completed.
The first trio will be the Hunchback (now called MkI) but with 2 new turret options, The Warthog (MkI) now with an easier build process and different front bull-bar, and the Merekat (MkI) with a reduced build process.

The Hunchback will then see a new MkII Series - which will be a logical extension of the MKI, retaining its overall looks, but different in size and with an open-top "truck/transport" variant.
The Warthog gets a bigger brother the "Polar Bear" with a similar body shape but slightly more "sci-fi" in appearance - for this we're doing a faithful reproduction of Jim Dobblers original concept.

The "old" Zebu is out as a DfI (Designed for Infinity) vehicle from either next month or the month after (renamed "Marrua Gaucho") - but it will be without any weapons or top-hatch.

... other factions and details will follow as they are finalised, but this will be the sstart/re-launch of the entire vehicular series plus with considerable numbers of new items already in 3D design. The aim from Next year is a new vehicle (or substantial variant) every month.

This is the Warthog that's coming back, right?

I've been wanting to get one of those, hoping it would show back up in the store. Will these be getting US distribution as well?

The Zebu is just going to have the hardtop back, right? That thing looks like it'd make a great Haqq vehicle.

Yes its that Warthog - but with an altered front bull-bar, and simplified build.

These will be offered to US DIstributors, yes... and anything Infinity (such as the old zebu) will also go up with Warsenal.

I'm glad I bought like 4 Hunchbacks back in the day - that reminds me, I never got those replacement "plugs" because the turret doesn't actually have a peg on it to slot into the hole in the vehicle body... :(

Kolodo is moving into the Marvelan Confederacy faction as a big walker for the 15mm forces... not sure if we will still do that in metal or move some of it into resin... not looking at that until at least next week, but once done it will get moved into the release schedule, so it is coming back, :-) (I know a LOT of folks want to know that)

The "Missing" plug for the turrets will now come as a laser-cut disc, once the new vehicles are out give us a shout and i'll send some over.

SuperHawk Dropships?

Antenocitis Workshop - News! @ 2015/08/30 16:56:27

Post by: Barzam

I think he was referring to the faction specific dropships. Speaking of, I don't think we ever saw what was planned for the Nomads or Ariadna.

Regarding the Super Hawk though, will there just be the one version with the internals and opening hatches, or will there be a "simple" version that's cheaper and doesn't open?

Antenocitis Workshop - News! @ 2015/08/31 11:00:27

Post by: Antenociti

Nomads have not been assigned a design yet, nor PanOceania or Combined Army...All three need work on concepts and I will bouncing ideas to Gutier as I make suitable ones... Haqq and Aleph have designs (Roc and Phoenix) - and the Aleph Phoenix is in 3D design as we speak.

Ariadna I cant show as it only exists in my head atm... and that is going to be physical build, not 3D... and it has rotors

Azure Dragon (Yu-Jing) is in prototyping right now - I will add a video of it to YouTube today.

Just poking around in the AW store and noticed that the generic Sci-Fi 28mm vehicles are no longer listed.

I also don't see those new releases that were announced either though so hopefully this is just some behind the scenes housekeeping.

Hoping the dropship gets elongated. Right now it's suffering from the embiggened cockpit syndrome of GI Joe toys.

Post by: Guildsman

Both the 28mm and 15mm size dropships look like they're missing a tail piece, along with engines on either side. With those, the design will probably look more balanced. I'd still rather see one with more bulk, but they're making several other designs as well.

Antenocitis Workshop - News! @ 2015/09/30 18:26:12

Post by: MLaw

There is a picture (the second one) where the missing components for the 28mm version are all visible. The cockpit and crew compartment are the right size for what they're intended. It looks weird because the cockpit is almost completely on top of the crew compartment. This is probably because the craft is designed to be able to fit between buildings. I had nothing to do with this design (it was a talented artist on DeviantArt I believe whose name escapes me) but when I was working up concepts for the TF dropship I had some similar ideas, especially given concerns over casting such large pieces. I believe it's only intended to transport 5 man squads too. If you look there are 4 vertical thrust engines, so conventional thinking about aeronautics and stabilization are also not going to apply here.
That said.. if you don't like the look, he had a few more designs he was going to release. I don't remember where those were posted but at least 1 of them was a bit longer and looked more like what most people would imagine. It reminded me of a Killzone ISA craft if I remember correctly..

It does - blows the TF one out of the water, for me at least!

But then Antenociti's Workshop rarely, if ever, disappoints!

Post by: MLaw

Hm.. not so subtle jab???

Personally, I do like the AW better, ego aside. Then again the TF one was designed in a 2 day window and sculpted in about a week so it would be ready for the KS. AW takes time and gets it right

Huh?

For what it's worth it blows away the Warpath one too?

Either way, I'm planning on using it for scenery on an INFINITY table, unless CB actually comes out with real rules for vehicles too!

The concept for the TF one was my design. I had mentioned that in my post, assumed you had seen that one. The sculptor took liberties at the end and they expanded on the idea with modularity (the TF one I mean) but the general shape and layout of the fuselage is mine and the cockpit matches my digital painting almost perfectly (minus the guns I had planned). My ideas were based on a Hind, Osprey, H53, and the ship from Appleseed. It's the first vehicle I ever designed for miniatures and ugly as she is, I'm proud of her

I won't lie, I'll be buying all of the AW dropships. err.. one of each.. I mean. The workmanship and casting from AW are IMO the best in the industry as far as sci-fi.. after "maybe" Corvus Belli.. maybe.

As to rules for Infinity vehicles.. I had heard rumors that they were going to push towards a non-skirmish game close to what a lot of us were looking for from Mantic. If that ends up being true I will be thrilled.

For anyone who missed their awesome kickstarter last year...they are offering up the opportunity to buy in and participate:

Forward Base – Last Chance to sign-up!

By Jed – October 8, 2015
Posted in: Kickstarter, News

We are soon to be closing-off our production schedule for Forward Base and so if you are interested in getting on-board the Forward Base production cycle then this is your very last opportunity until the products go to Retail (at full retail prices) at the start of 2016.

Those interested should email jed@antenocitisworkshop.com or message us via Kickstarter (Antenocitis Workshop Ltd) asking to be included at which point we will send you an invitation to join the Forward Base Backer-kit.

Once there you can order most of the items that were available during the Kickstarter, at the moment we are finishing off our WAVE 1 deliveries, WAVE 1 Power Strain PLUS and Forward Base PLUS are now being dispatched and we will be moving rapidly into WAVE 2 at the end of October and then WAVE 3 – new joiners will be entered into WAVE 3 whose delivery is estimated to be completed for Xmas this year.

Whilst you will not be able to get the “PLUS” pledges that were Kickstarter exclusives, you will still be able to get most of the other options and offers which still give a sizeable discount on the retail prices. In addition retail products will be far more restricted in colour choices and type of weathering, so this really is your last chance to get onto the discounts offered with Forward Base, before we stop accepting any further orders.

We will stop accepting new backers October 23rd but in the meantime can accept payments via paypal or credit-card via Backer Kit.

Is there a pledge calculator for this somewhere with visuals? I see some things I liked but some of the charts have you scrolling and jumping around trying to figure things out..
Also, there's something about service bots just after half the page down (Forward Base Vehicle Add-Ons).. I can't seem to find a picture of them but it sounds interesting (and cheap!) Anyone know what those are?

I was deeply considering the Warsenal 20% off sale but this is too tempting to pass up

You can get access to the pledge calculator if email Antenocitis as instructed in their message (posted above).

The pledge calculator provides clarity and is less confusing than the kickstarter page, but there are still a lot of options.

Essentially, you buy a habitat, then can add (purchase) optional detailed panels, add interiors (scatter terrain) and external extras like footings, roof accessories, etc.

I found these utube videos showing the different habitats extremely useful in trying to understand what comes with each habitat.

Some very interesting news! How awesome does this thing look?!

From Beasts of War http://www.beastsofwar.com/antenocitis-workshop/antenocitis-announce-plans-kickstart-pizza-trucks/
referencing their KS page https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2097161002/forward-base-sci-fi-scenery-for-infinity-wargamers/posts/1379950

With the end now in sight for Forward Base production (that being end of December 2015) we can now also start looking ahead into 2016 for new production and we will soon be putting up some news on other Kickstarter projects aimed at the start of 2016.

Some of our new projects are of an unusual nature, such as unusual vehicles for Infinity, and we will run those as very small Kickstarters looking to fund just that single vehicle, with no add-ons or stretch goals…. Just to see if these vehicles can generate enough interest to warrant production. In most cases these vehicles will also be Limited Edition or have features that are Limited to just Kickstarter production.

An example of this is the “pizza Truck” shown below:

This comes in at around 200mm long and we intend to run the kickstarter with the intention of including the “fold-out” seating area and canopy to provide a truly unique vehicle designed for Infinity.

In a similar fashion we will also now launch the larger G.O.T. military vehicles via kickstarter projects – these have always required considerable funds up-front to get off the ground and kickstarters for individual vehicles or large scenery items, that may not have a traditionally large market, are the ideal way to go forward.

This will also include the Designed for Infinity Dropships, each of which will come out as individual projects now as the size, and requisite production costs, of these vehicles is too big to go into our regular production schedules and budgets.

We will, however, also be doing a couple of larger “traditional” Kickstarters for 2016:

The first is our sets of gaming mats, including urban and rural settings, in PVC and rubber-backed, single piece and modular tiles.

The Second will be for some all-new pre-painted Urban buildings for Infinity – these are building sets covering Suburban, Commercial and “downtown” (a rather grubby low-end area of the town).

We are producing these with all the lessons learned from Forward Base: not to offer too many options in colour and weathering, have full instructions done prior to the first dispatch, and with all the lessons learned about Pick & Pack, internal arrangement of tasks, dedicated areas for specific task and so on and so forth.

So we hope that many of you will return to follow our new Projects on Kickstarter, as well as our regular business via our website, in the meantime however we will now get back to focusing on delivery and dispatch of Forward Base, and, as things are now getting sorted in our Pick & Pack process, I will find some time to dedicate to getting on with those overly-delayed assembly Instructions for the Habitats.

On his Facebook, he had mentioned a talk with copyright/IP folks in UK and re-doing the Spinner.
He mentioned that he is authorized to sell it up until the new Bladerunner film is released.

He also mentioned larger kits and the GOT vehicles ...and a Kickstarter. I hope he's not planning in kickstarting the old GOT vehicles. That would be slightly annoying. Unless he means he's doing a Kickstarter involving the above pizza truck. Which would also be annoying. Why? Because it is not a Kickstarter for dropships. That's why.

He mentioned doing short, mini kickstarters for the various large GOT vehicles, which I assume to be the trackball tanks. He also said the Infinity dropships will all be kickstarted as well. The pizza truck will be an experiment to see how tbe mini KS format works. Essentially the mini KS is going to have a short campaign time with no add-ons or stretch goals, just funding for the individual vehicles.

Aye, it would, totally agree!! (So we aint doing that!)

KS would only be used for new stuff - and generally only where there was either a larger start-up cost (such as a dropship) or where we were unsure if the market demand was big enough e.g. a large articulated lorry - quite a few people ask for this in a sci-fi style, but would they be willing to pay over the money for one (as it would be relatively expensive being so big).

"Regular" stuff like the existing vehicles just fall into our normal production cycle.

That said some items that we will be producing are being done on a partnership basis with other companies, and those will go to Kickstarter... probably... tbph there is an element of "we will judge each vehicle onits own merits"... so I dont want to lay down hard rules that we may then break.

Generally I (me CAPS) don't want to go with Kickstarter launches (of vehicles) unless we have to.

Is that Taruca Latauro thing based off of the Meerkat?

The old GOT vehicles were rumored to be returning to the shop "next month" (which was said a month or two ago I believe). I'm hopeful that this is still the case, any news?

Monday for GOT.. assuming I get the image work done.. just did the Photos !!!

Fantastic! Limited run or are they coming back to stay?

To stay and to be expanded upon.

With the RPG upon us, is there any interest in civilian models? The market is farily light on generic sci fi civilians to use.

You mean people or vehicles? People, yup. You can use some from Dreadball, re-based clix, or a few other sources I'm not going to link for fear of de-railing, but there really is a shortage in that area. If you mean vehicles, AW already has that covered

I'm sure he means the people. I'd like to see the street cops come back, maybe with a few new sculpts.

On the Meerkat/Lautaro, is that using the new simplified build that had been mentioned, or is it still the same hybrid kit as before with a new sensor mast?

Also, we still going to see the trackball tanks?

Trackball tanks are both with the new 3D designer - they will be going KS, possibly before Xmas.

The Meerkat and the Warthog have both had simplified builds: we've combined some parts and with the Warthog given a totally different method of assembling the axles so that it is much, much easier. The Meerkat gets a single-piece resin bull-bar now, and a solid-cast resin turret... again to simplify the build, but without reducing detail... Oh and a re-designed bull-bar for the Warthog.

Its larger 'cousin' the Polar Bear will be going KS later this year also as more detailed vehicle.. somewhat more aimed at modellers than perhaps gamers... although nowadays I think there rather a large degree of overap between the two.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Hunchbacks £24.99p, Meerkat £15.50p

Free post in the UK for any of our (AW only) products over £7.50p

I may have to get some of those when they get released. The conversion rare isn't too bad right now. The prices on FRP are pretty comparable, but with free shipping from AWI direct, I think that may be the better deal. Really looking forward to the Warthog coming back.

AW (or anyone that knows).. is there any place to see a pdf with build instructions for the grav tanks from the 28mm range? Is it normal for the kits to not come with instructions? I'm only asking here because it was mentioned that the re-releases are actually modified versions of the old kits with simpler builds (or that was my understanding). Having a go-to place for kit build instructions would be super helpful.

EDIT: The grav tanks are presumably the original kits but this is more of a "in-general" type of question concerning both the new releases and the original kits still in circulation.

We're pleased to announce the release of our first Scenery Box-Set for Infinity the Game: the E-Systems Garbage Point system.

The system consists of 3 main ingredients:

1) Auto-Bins;
These are wheeled autonomous bins that detect when they are full and then wheel themselves to the "Garbage Point" where they are vacuumed empty. After this they return to their original location, alleviating you the need to ever empty your own bins.
(£7.50p per pack of 3 - available in the store now)

2) VT-Sorisso Road Sweeper:
The Volgren-Troller Sorisso is a robotic road-sweeper that patrols aset area and then empties itself at the Garbage Point.
(£7.50p per vehicle, includes an extra "free" bin)

3) E-System Garbage Point:
The Garbage Point itself consists of 3 Vacuum-points where Auto-BIns or Sirisso Bins can be emptied. Waste is then compacted into the rear (separate) Waste management Container which is collected when full by another vehicle.
(E-System Garbage Point MDF Kit £13.75p)

As an AW exclusive (You can only purchase this directly from us) there is also a Garbage Point Box-Set, discounted by 15% to £24.50p that contains all three products in a single set.

Scenery profiles and extra images of the systems on a table:

[img]http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/garbage-030.jpg
[/img]

----

Instructions for all new kits now come either in the kit itself or on the Blog:
http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/news/category/articles/kit-instructions/

(they should be in both - and will be once some web-work is completed over the next few weeks)

NO Black_Friday this year sorry, there should be next year though.

Yes, the vehicle re-builds have vastly simplified some vehicles.

If you fall into the wrong place it will suck your face off.

What I like about Antenociti is the amount of regular SF furniture that can be used to dress up otherwise bog-standard terrain features and city-scapes. I used a variety of their earlier items like fuel pumps, doors, comms terminals and AC units on my Tau terrain. It really adds to the overall impression.

Serious terrain envy..
I imagine that Asian themed stuff is geared towards infinity but I always think of Urban Mammoth Triads first since they're so.. on the nose. Either one would be awesome though.
I had seen that Happy Panda piece available in a set for a discount but I can't find where I saw it now :(

Also.. I asked for instructions on the grav tank
I'm not talking about a new one, I picked up the old Buccalus or whatever it was called and can't figure out where some of the little bits go.

AND..
Apparently that range of hover tanks is gone from the store. That's different. Glad I snapped it up.. now if I could just figure it out :(

should be pretty straightforward from the pictures.... are there any pictures left though?

iirc the only non-obvious bit was the foward "suspension" that holds the two side-plates at the front.

I didn't see any on the website. I can try to find a blog somewhere. The blower looking pieces seem a little weird too, do they just go on the sides of the center hull at the rear with the blower facing down or what? Where does the suspension you mentioned go? Some of the turret gubbins are a bit confusing but I think I can figure that part out.

EDIT: I found some pictures from the original release which have a bunch of different angles and answered the questions that were preventing the build, thanks

Just seen this on dwartist's blog
28mm dropship

Antenociti raises the 'bar' for 28mm dropships!!

Jed has sent me a pre-production copy of his 28mm 'Superhawk' dropship (due out at the end of July hopefully) and it's stunning! Superbly designed (like the 'Samsara' it has been developed from a card model) and immaculately cast in resin it comes as a kit of parts with a detailed cabin interior and movable upper and lower loading ramps.
I've had and still have a few 28mm 'dropships' eg. Forgeworld, Games workshop, Puppets War, Titan Forge to name but a few. Due to poor casting, warped parts and bad fit of parts most remain either unbuilt, partly built or awaiting further correction work and paint. Perversely the only one I finished - the Titan Forge X5 - was the worst of all, a nightmare of a kit! Of the others the Puppets War craft are worth persevering with and will be eventually finished. The two Forgeworld fliers I had - the Arvus Lighter (still have a soft spot for this design) and the Valkyrie (replaced by the GW plastic kit) were so poor in terms of fit and warping of major components that I ended up binning both!
The 'Superhawk' is the dropship I've been waiting for for years!

and anther blog entry with painted interior...

WIP: Antenociti 28mm 'Superhawk' dropship...

...interior decals finished, Just the floor and screens to finish then a little weathering.

Those are usually the emails I use when contacting them. However I will say normally when corresponding with them, emails responses can take 1 day to a week before a response happens.

Azure Dragons have started shipping. I still haven't received it but not too worried about it.

The Game Box finished shipping and delivered to everyone as far as I'm aware of.

Fast Panda is in production... somehow I missed this Kickstarter, not sure how. I must have been out of town at a convention or something.

Overall mostly everything is in final steps or production. They have been pretty good about projections not directly effecting each other. (ie: Once one is out of production and in packaging/shipping, the production team is left with nothing to do so they do another small KS). Instead of doing large projects, they have kept things smaller and focused. Undertown seems a much smaller scale than Forward Base, so it appears they understand their capability better and adjusted the KS accordingly for it.

Product looks great. Better suited to Infinity than Forward Base due to the more varied elevations IMO.

Mentioned on Facebook that I wouldn't be able to back as I hadn't received my Forward Base pledge yet (I believe it's about 10 months behind for production and family reasons).
This was a statement of fact rather than a criticism, I don't think many people would send another 500 pounds after the previous 500 pounds until they had seen something.

They chose to respond by announcing that I had paid them late.

This is completely true, and they had never expressed any problems with holding my spot during that time.
Rather than just keep quiet or even just respond with info about the status of Forward Base they chose to reveal (vaguely) private info on facebook in order to shame a client that had given them over $1000.

They make great looking products. I'll have a hard time supporting them any further.

Agreed plastictrees. I came across the forward base kickstarter at the same time as a couple of other things I liked and handed over my money. Now, over two years later, I'm told I should be getting a return for my investment soon. I've become more careful and stopped backing overly ambitious projects.
The product is probably going to be lovely and from the updates they've given they say they've greatly improved their processes, but I've lost all enthusiasm for getting the stuff.

I grabbed one of the £234 "Undertown" slots of all eight buildings when it was open - I'm in the market for Infinity terrain. The problem is I'm also backing the Battle Systems KS. I don't really need both, and I'm torn. Opinions on their stuff, their business practices aside?

I think the Antenocitis stuff is probably more practical for infinity, especially in terms of flexibility. It would be much easier to add elements over time and revise layouts.

I have a bunch of the Wyrd stuff that's similar to Battle systems and to build up a board that would be the size of an infinity game you're looking at about 2 hours on average and that's not for anything fancy that has lots of levels. If you keep parts of it assembled then it's not much longer then throwing out non modular stuff.

I own Battle Systems SF1 set. It's tedious. You can get a decent setup out of it but frankly for all the hassle, you're better off going to a PDF scenery place, printing out a bunch of stuff and mounting it to foamboard boxes.

As to the AW stuff.. as has been mentioned, you might find yourself with an unpleasant wait time. Plasticraft or whatever they're called has what I think is pre-paint/printed styrene sets for infinity. I'd compare those to this before assessing value. Especially since one is ready now and the other, again.. who knows.

If you want something pre painted, flexible and available right now I can happily recommend http://hexagonmill.com
Doesn't have the detail of either of the above options but it's fantastic for infinity, packs up easily and sets up quick in an endless number of combinations especially once you add some scatter.

I backed Forward Base and in in the last group, apparently. I didn't even know they had so many other Kickstarters going.

That isn't true as far as I know. You can buy the items... but you won't be able to buy them until all the items for their KS have been delivered. That is why you can't buy Forward Base stuff yet because they are still finishing up up delivery for it. Their promise was that it wasn't going to be available for retail until they were delivered. There are some smaller items that were already available that they brought into the KS as add-ons and that is why you see some of those items. Things like Happy Panda Noodles, Game Box, etc are available now.

They are only making as many Azura Dragon's for the Kickstarter initially. They stated in the comments section that, "the Azure Dragon will eventually come to retail but that will be some time in the future - after the KS production our priorities are drop-ships for the other factions more than getting the Dragon into retail. So the wait for a retail version could be 18 months or more, and it will be at full retail price"

Essentially the goal is to dropships for each of the factions. Then once those have been completed, they'll release the ones into retail. As much as it sucks to have to wait for those that didn't do the KS... it is a good decision on their part. It lets them focus the majority of their resources to KS production and expanding. Then once they are sure they have a handle on the new products, they can release them to retail. Ideally it lets them expand their products, while developing a baseline for costs/production/time so they can properly figure out how to expand employees instead of expanding quickly for short bursts.

They are a standard MDF building design. There are only so many different ways to design the buildings. To be fair there were other buildings that were around before Impudent Mortal, that they look like.. but that is usually where the similarities stop. The painting is the biggest difference, but there are the etched designs in the walls, floors and interiors that Impudent Mortal doesn't tend to do. The edges of the Impudent Mortal are huge, compared to the Undertown. Impudent Mortal and not just them but most MDF terrain have the rooftop castle design they are talking about in their examples that they created a different design from. I an just not seeing it, without some serious reaching but maybe that is just me *shrugs*

They'll sell them post kickstarter but really only produce a few a year. What that number is they haven't said, just mentioned they have to balance making all the faction drop ships and their regular production.

The foodtruck, however, won't be sold with it's awning and seating post KSer only the truck itself.

It's actually quite common for the smaller companies to make limited runs of larger, complex and expensive kits.

They don't have the production capacity to knock out lots of them and then have them sitting in a warehouse if they don't sell.

Sorry, you feel that way, especially as it is completely untrue.

We've had a rather torrid last two years with key staff leaving, having to find and train new staff, and especially losing a close family member after a battle with cancer... so it hasn't been exactly a barrel of laughs trying to stay on top of things, we've just tried to keep ticking over whilst we had to deal with "real life".

It is very tough and time-consuming to deal with that sort of thing and, regardless of what anybody says or thinks about where our priorities should be - ours was with our family, not rushing out products. If you think that is wrong, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

In addition to the above over the last year, in particular, we've completely revamped our casting workshop (twice) as we developed a new method of casting and Moulding. We then spent a huge amount of time removing all old moulds, prototypes and masters (hence removing the products from the store until everything was re-made in the newer mould styles).

Those products are only just now starting to get those back on to the store. It took a long time, but times are tough and there are only four of us.

These things take time to be done properly.

The idea that we have deliberately produced items exclusive to kickstarter, to be withheld from retail sale, is kinda bonkers though... why would we do that? That said we have seen a few posts on disparate forums (possibly from the same person, who knows nowadays) saying that we "are cancelling their store and going kickstarter only" ... which was news to us...and also completely bogus.

It still amazes me how these bizarre rumours get started and then propagated, with people fully believing them, and nobody stops to ask for clarification with the party concerned (e.g. us) ... I guess that's the internet for you and fake news gets everywhere.

However, if you would like to tell us what products you are referring to, we might be able to tell you when they are available (now that we've started putting things back into production)...but do that via our Facebook page as we rarely come to this forum and we dont actively monitor it.

Awesome set of releases!

I want to update since it's only fair. I did end up getting the replacement hover tank and the quality is better than the old kit by a longshot.

Moksha is really unique/cool.. does it have a rear hatch or just the side ones? I checked the site but can't really tell.

Any plans of doing more of those near-future/modern vehicles like Heist? I would love to see some trucks done that way similar to the vehicles in District 9.

Probably not until September at the earliest. They're a bit behind on delivery and their past kickstarter items have made it to the store a month or two after fulfillment.

I have no clue on the real general release date but they've delivered maybe 1/4 of pledges so far so I'd suspect them to be done sometime near the end of July.

GOT to get US armour…

We’ve been rather Infinity orientated for some time now, so it’s refreshing to finally get the “old” GOT vehicle lines back up and in production.

As we’ve now gotten most of our back-catalogue of vehicles on to the store we now want to pay some attention to our own range of sci-fi vehicles: Governance of Technology (GOT).

This is going to be an ongoing development process combining normal retail releases with a couple of intermittent Kickstarters. Those Kickstarters will be longer-term projects to develop most of an entire faction in “one hit”, but not at the cost of normal production or development.

So, at the very end of July this year, we will be launching a Kickstarter to finance the entire US-IMF (United States Independent Military Forces) faction in both 28mm and 15mm.

The Kickstarter will include a total of 10 different vehicles, from a 4×4 recon vehicle through to Heavy and Super Heavy Tanks and artillery.

To achieve this we’ve teamed up with 3D designer “GrafxBox” who have a well-known and popular series of Low-Poly models for computer gaming.

We’re taking those designs and converting their low-poly computer-games designs, into high-quality ‘true 3D’ models, which we will then 3D print and go on to produce in resin for 15mm and 28mm tabletop ‘scales’.

Kickstarter is due to start on the 31st July and will run for roughly 13+ days.

Liking the look of the eagle, would make a cool Valkyrie model. Only thing is it's the price of a baneblade, gonna have to think on that for a little while. Here's to hoping it goes well.

There are some great looking models here.

Could do with some more comparison shots or mockups - like how big is the Eagle compared to say a Valkyrie?

Also the pledging is a bit unusual and trying to get my head round it.

So if you want models that don't fit nicely into the pledge structure do - say you want to spend £400 - can you do multiple pledges or do you get the same proportional increase with one pledge?

Antenocitis Workshop - News! @ 2017/08/13 12:41:19

Post by: Antenociti

Raft of new Comparison shots: http://www.barrule.com/blog/us-imf-kickstarter-size-comparisons/

No idea how big a Valkyrie is, so no obvious way to do a comparison with the Eagle etc I'm afraid.

You can pledge over the set amount for each pledge rank but the rank-bonus amount does not increase.

You can still pledge via Paypal for pledge ranks that are all gone on the KS itself as we reserved some ranks for PayPal only (and all PayPal pledge ranks remain available)

Hey, AW, what sort of timeframe are we looking at for the revised Forward Base interior panels? I just finished painting up my corridor sections (with some plasticard additions) and I'm really eager to get to work on my hab buildings.. but before I design any new plasticard panels for the front / rear interior walls I need to know how much space I will have to work with.

Do you anticipate the resin panels fitting flush with the non-recessed wall sections and the etched details on the floor?

Antenocitis Workshop - News! @ 2017/09/05 18:10:13

Post by: Antenociti

Yes, they should all stay flush unless I run into some significant issue - and I can't think of any off the top of my head.

TBH not much will change from those in the original KS other than reducing some of the sizes to provide more margin for error in the *growth* of the resin parts during mould-life - the originals fitted perfectly meaning that as soon as the mould *grew* with lifetime use, the resin parts were too big and needed sanding down.
So we're going to deliberately re-do them about "1mm too small" on one side, laterally and ventrally, which should provide some built-in *wiggle room* for fitting them.

There is a bit of a change to fit in the new hinged doors though, but that won't affect the maximum extent that any component protrudes into the central area - that outer face should always be flush with the edging strip/etch detail.

I like what you've done with those corridors btw... we recently bought some new materials (different types of a synthetic card) from 0.6mm to 1.2mm thick, to possibly do facias similar to that... we need to do more testing on these cards though to see how they take paint... lots of companies use "greyboard" but its quite fibrous and tends to swell with paint, so I am not 100% with using that.. some of these alternatives may work though... in which case doing something similar to what you've done in those corridors would be the plan.

Excellent, thanks for that. So I can probably do the front and back wall panels and I can leave it unglued just in case I have to trim off a few millimetres. Do you think we will see the resin panels by the end of the year?

Personally, I love all the stuff coming out of Antenocities, their resins are some of the best in the market. This KS is a little different in that you can buy the 3D Print files to make your own ship! I've backed thir 'Roc' Dropship which will be shipping in the next few weeks, plus their last one which was for some generic Sci-Fi vehicles. All are designed for use in Infinity, but I use them for terrain in other games like Relic Knights.

The Roc drop ships are now delivering. Very good cast quality. Some of the resin gates (which normally you'd be hacking off) are actually the plugs to conn ct to other parts. Quite clever really. Here's an exploded view!

Jed actually asked in the comments to not share this for a few days so all the backers have time to read it "from him" but I think they'll be fine as they have some really desriable models and if they do a merchant plan (where others can get a licnese to print and sell their designs) Jed will easily raise what money he needs.

I don't think MDF will be any less popular for the time being but I can see why he has a hard time selling premium resin to a small group of people where a large number of us have printers.

Ahhh, I didn't back the kickstarter, so I only got this info from another site.

I don't own a 3d printer, and I am not sure if I will own one in the near future. They are still a ways off from where I would want them to be, so I am still going to want to buy things in resin.

No worries about that, I don't think Jed could keep it quiet anyway but still thought I should bring it up incase someone did read it first here and had backed one of those KSers.

In case people don't want to read the wall of text. Antenocities mold maker is moving on to better support his family. Good mold makers are hard to find and Jed doesn't want to train someone again which could take quite some time nor is he really capable to do it himself anymore so he wants to drop resin and just produce MDF products and files for 3d printing (and there's money there if you look at what Printable Scenery pulls in per KSer).

Owning several printers I don't think they'll replace stuff for a while as lots of people really don't want to do the work themselves but a $400 SLA printer can make standared 28mm figures for about 30 cents USD per fig that look about as good as any non-3d printed thing. An 800 one will make stuff as good as what you could buy and that's only going to get cheaper.

So from whats' been in the comments discussion for the original KSer post some desisnges have 3rd party licneses he has to deal with, some deailing with the artwork others the sculptor apperently, and once that's all sorted out things that he's able too could possibile be sold as merchant STLs where someone could sell what they print.

Could he not clear the licensing and offer the STLs on one of the 3D PoD sites. Heck if I could buy and download the STLs it would move me to getting a 3D printer sooner rather than later.

I don't want to speak for him in any way but I'm sure that's something he could license it out to print on demand sites or open up a shapeways if he wants (though getting your own $400 resin printer will make better stuff then what you'll get from shapeways).

From the sounds of it even just a few days ago Jed was struggling with whether or not he'd have to shut down completely as a lot of things seamed to really hit last week or two (though he knew about his mold maker leaving last month) so there's a lot he has to sort out and there will be another update in the next few weeks about what STLs will be avalible in a KSer this year. Current backers of his US-IMF project will be able to trade in what they paid for resins for STLs across his whole product range that will be avalible.

I would suggest people that are intrested in certain lines send them emails hoping for continued avaliblity even after they stop making resins (which should be till the end of the year).

It seems that any large chunk of resin should at this point be considered a red flag for a Kickstarter. Resin production of large pieces is apparently pretty tough to do right and do in large numbers.

Here's a quote:

We can't refund people.
You will be given an option to switch from resin to STL in a new KS that includes the models from this KS plus other models.
If you don't want STL files you will get your resin pledges but with a significant delay in production.

True and manufacturer is also part of that. While more expensive then doing it yourself if someone stated that their resin was being done by Valiant then I'd be less concerned as that company can truly mass produce resin as they have expensive machines to do so.

update on internals for their buildings

We're re-doing the internals with the new methods we've done for MDF/Acrylic/Photo-prints - hoping to get on to those in the new year. After which, new Habs!

And on Resin production

We won't be stopping resin immediately and there is an ongoing discussion about what resin could be continued alongside STl files.

The main issue with putting out production to a third party is the cost and also the quality - very few places produce high-quality on a reliable basis and those that do are very expensive.

There are some manufacturers in China that produce quality, but they require high-numbers to be effective.

That said - we're still keeping options open where we can.
