Dakka (Unofficial) Painting Challenge Round 23 January 2017: Rogues and Scoundrels @ 2017/01/01 10:47:13

Post by: Paradigm

Welcome all to the first challenge of 2017! For anyone who's unfamiliar with the format, this is a simple community challenge open to anyone on Dakka, the aim of the game being to paint a model or set of models relating to the month's theme and win points for doing so!

This month's theme is Rogues and Scoundrels, so the entries we're looking for are the sort of folks who would stab you in the back, rob you blind or definitely shoot first; not necessarily bad guys, just the sort of characters you wouldn't want to turn your back on! As ever, the theme is totally open to interpretation, so if you think it's a suitable entry, it probably is!

How To Enter
- You may enter up to 5 MODELS as a SINGLE ENTRY, and are permitted one entry per member per month. If you enter multiple models, they should ideally be related in some way, such as part of the same squad, unit or scene if you are doing a diorama
- You MUST post a 'proof' picture of your entry in the thread of the state it was in before you started working on it; this must be either unassembled, unpainted, primed or coated a single colour. Entries that do not submit a valid Proof Picture will not be eligible for voting.
- After this, you may post WIP pictures in this thread and your own if you wish, and on completing the entry, you may post up to 5 final pictures IN THIS THREAD that will then be used for voting. Please note that pictures in a montage or collage picture will be considered individual images for this purpose, so while these types of presentation are certainly acceptable, please keep the image limit in mind when compiling them. For example, a collage of 4 images and one separate image would count as your 5 picture allowance.

So What Do I Win?
- Points... and points mean... bragging rights for the next month! Following the vote, points will be awarded to every entrant. This year, the Points you receive will be equal to the Percentage of Votes your entry receives in the final Voting thread; if you get 10%, you get 10 points, if you get 6% you get 6 points, so on and so forth.

These points will be used to form a league table, which will be updated month on month as the results come in.

How Long Do I Have?
This challenge begins 1st January and will end at midnight GMT on the 31st January. After this, I shall compile the finished entries into a new thread, and voting will run for 5 days.

Nice! The Long Drong pirates are such classic models - can't wait to see that painted up!

I have a few more figures from eBay on the way which I might sub in, but I'll be doing a squad of Eldar Pirates for my 2nd edition army. I'll pick five when I'm done (if I finish, this one could take a while).

Yeah I love those guys to, I'm a bit smug that I bought a dozen of them at the time they came out and still have them. One of the many projects to do in the future.

Looking forward to seeing it Nev.

My proof, not entirely sure which way I'll go yet.

either Flash Gits, Kaptin Badrukk or a tenuous link to rogues if it is ok with Para to Star Wars (rogue 1....) and making an Ork X-wing..... The model is for 6+ so it might challenge me mentally.

oh dear oh dear...I'm having silly ideas again

...I was just going to paint up this one nice-looking freebooter nob I put together...but now I'm leaning heavily towards turning a really rough old leman russ into some kind of land-pirate-ship looted wagon for him to ride around in, and a couple of scurvy crew for him to yell at...this is going to take a good deal more rummaging and figuring out before I can post proof pics...but providing I can bodge something together that's not too godawful, that's my plan

MG, all three of those options sound great man! ...I'm really not sure which one I'd rather see your take on...you have reminded me that I really should get myself a badrukk model though, I've wanted one to paint for ages now...

So, in the spirit of biting off more than I can chew, going to try to paint up an adveturing party of these guys:

From Oathsworn's burrows and badgers line. (More likely, I burn out and just paint the badger, but here's hoping!)

I'm in with these Chaos Space Marines:

I think they qualify as Rogues and/or Scoundrels! The model on the far left is the Aspiring Champion, one of the Chosen from the Dark Vengeance set. The rest are standard CSM models. They will be painted to match the rest of my Khorne Daemonkin.

So first off, proof; they've been undercoated and partially basecoated in desert yellow whilst I had the airbrush out. I'll be picking five out of the squad, but painting the whole lot together:

Second, the story(s) behind the choice; I've always liked the idea of the Tau Empire being inclusive and willing to accept anyone who wants to join, so I wanted to build some Gue've'sa and other allies, not as separate squads, but as part of a regular Firewarrior unit. I got one of the new Firewarrior/Breacher kits last year and built it as a Breacher Squad, which leaves you with heads, backpacks weapons and shoulder pads for normal Firewarriors, so I raided my bits box and threw together this motley crew, starting with the female sergeant using a spare Shadowsun head.

As I was building them I started trying to think of a justification for the hodge-podge nature of the squad and an idea came to me. In order to get the Cadre Fireblades, Darkstrider, etc., there must be some Firewarriors who forgo battlesuit training, but still get promoted as infantry. So my sergeant is actually a Shas'vre (roughly lieutenant equivalent) who specialises in behind-the-lines / precision strike type missions; infantry based but more agressive than Pathfinders. By refusing to go through battlesuit training she's a bit of a rebel to her commanders and her preference for close quarters infantry action means that a lot of her comrades consider her a bit unstable and blood-thirsty. However, she's damn good at her job, so she's been given the freedom to put together her own squad, choosing from anyone in the local Tau forces who suits her needs and equipping them however they see fit, rather than accoring to standard Tau doctrine.

I imagine them as a sort of Dirty Dozen / Howling Commando's type lot; a bunch of misfits (or Rogues and Scoundrels if you like ) who really don't fit into the normal Tau forces, but are too damn useful to get rid of. You send them in and they get the job done, just don't ask how(!)

Finally, a little bit of work in progress, hopefully starts to make the details a little bit easier to see:

Whoa, whoa! Are you suggesting the greatest Space Ranger of all time, Buzz Lightyear, is a rogue or scoundrel?

Just remember, not every cadet to go through the Space Ranger Academy had good intentions. One was an agent and he had a warped sense of right and wrong.

This is certainly going to be an interesting round...

I will be entering, but right now, I need to complete two starter forces for a Team Yankee tournament. When I do enter, it'll be with some Freebooter Bikers, or a Trukk - either should look good as the first completed models in my display cabinet

I am in!

I will be painting the Clancy Gang from Blackwater Gulch. I will actually be using washes for everything (or close to it). Since taking my proof pic (took a bit to upload on work wifi) I have the majority of one model already done. Hardest part is finding a nice brown wash for the leather and gun stocks, so I may use some real paint. I also should have brought some primer and white paint to touch up if I spill over too much... oops. Except for bases, these will pretty much be done tonight if I keep up on motivation. All washes are made via recipes provided by Les from Awesome Paint Jobs.

The fluff to make them Scoundrels below.

The most feared of all the families in Blackwater Gulch, the Clancy Gang have been allowed to run roughshod through the streets. They often take protection money from the few shopkeeps who remain, or start fights in the Golden Coin just for the heck of it. Armed to the teeth, with an attitude twice as ugly, The Clancy Gang do what they want, when they want and don’t care who gets hurt in the meantime.

And proof

Hopefully these are in an acceptable entry state. I'd have liked to put unbuilt proof but I built them last night before the wonderful Nevelon suggested I try my hand at this comp. So here they are, I'll be painting 5 of these Bloodbrides. DE in general fit the bill of rogues and scoundrels just by their very nature I'd imagine.

I've just about decided what I'm going to paint this month. I think I'll paint up a Rum & Bones pirate. I've got six different ones, so what I might do is proof photograph each of them, then see which one takes my fancy as I start painting them. Would that be okay, or a contravention of the rules?

Heck, do them all and then select whichever one is least good to leave out in the end. I don't think it'll matter!

Here's my proof pic. Working on a Renegade Inquisitor who has joined the ranks of the Sons of Malice, definitely a scoundrel who'd stab you in the back in a moments notice, and then drink the blood oozing from your wound!
Can't wait to do more work on him but need moar paintz.

Hopefully I get more paints and get this guy finished within the next couple weeks as I'm going away for a visit from the 26th- feb 1st so I'll have to get this guy done and photographed before then!

Nice backstory to your entry Drummernathan

Hello and Welcome Bandwagon, great to have you join in, I look forward to seeing what you do with the model.

Very quick and well done Elbows, you have a nice Eldar army developing with these last 2 entries.

Update for mine below, I haven't finished all the riveting but I set myself a target of finishing the main bits by this weekend so I can get him undercoated or I'll never finish painting in time.

Thanks, Modock. I normally start with a very vague idea in my head colour-wise and then ham-fist my way through it. I'm exceptionally pleased that it all came together. One of the many joys of painting an Eldar army. I have a simple Craftworld scheme and then the fun of painting all of the aspects differently, pirates differently, harlequins differently...and perhaps even exodites some time.

Finished! The mark of Slaanesh came in the post today and he is now finished: the Silver Knight.

(Just a heads up, I don't have a proper camera for close up model pics, in fact this is the first model I have built and painted souly for the sake of painting, so sorry about the quality of the picture and/or the model)

I would really appreciate it if some of the more experienced painters here could give me a couple of tips.

Pay no attention to his new crew (not part of the entry, just sharing space on the workbench). But I wanted to get some WIP shots to prove I’m painting. Still not sure what color to do the parrot, but figured whatever I went with, a yellow undercoat would help brighten his plumage. Still blocking in colors

I'll go ahead and throw this in with the lot:

It's Bandai's 1/144 scale Slave I. These are parts to the underside of the hull and for frame of reference, those squares are 1"x1". Luckily, given the engineering of the kit, I should be able to paint most of the parts before assembly to limit the amount of masking I need to do. I really hope to have this done by the end of the month so I can take it to my model club's monthly meeting (otherwise I'll be going empty handed).

So... parts actually showed up today despite an estimated arrival date of the 17th, and the 12" of snow that fell last night. I guess the USPS really does get the mail through whether hail or rain or sleet or snow. Now I gotta figure out wth I'm making for this month.

Hi all!

The greatest Scoundrel to ever graduate from the Space Ranger Academy is complete! Yes, its true. The being known as Buzz Lightyear's former partner, Warp Darkmatter (Agent Z) has been finished.

Thanks and take care

I managed to get most of the cockpit done yesterday, except for the tiny little Boba Fett that will sit behind the console:

I've got all the rear section pieces on sticks separated by color only to realize that I don't have any field grey paint from any of the paint ranges I use:

So that means I'll need to take a trip to the hobby shop some time today to remedy that problem.

Slowly piecing the back of the ship together. I've actually ran into little bit of a roadblock because I didn't have the proper green, Tamiya Field Green (XF-65), for a number of the pieces so I had to run to the hobby shop to get a jar. In the mean time, I managed to get the grey pieces and engine nozzles painted. I also applied some of the small decals supplied with the kit. I ended up getting all of the field green pieces painted after I snapped this picture this morning but a few of them can only go on after the winglets are put in, but they have more painting and weathering to do on them.

I'm still working my way through my super dungeon explore models. Looking forward getting back to the darker 40k models.

Anyhow here is my entry:

Looking forward to seeing some more Super Dungeon Explore! I really should get back to painting my set. I like that style of painting.

Anyway, here's my proof. It's a mini from Rum and Bones, a pirate captain named Captain Francois L'Olonnais. The real-life man they took the name from was a particularly bloody pirate, a torturer and cannibal. So something of a scoundrel...

I still might swap him out for one of the other Rum & Bones minis, perhaps one who is more of a scoundrel than a flat-out psychopath.

I could sleep last night so I worked on Slave I a little bit more. Most of the green bits have been added and given a wash with MIG Dark Wash enamel as a first layer of weathering. I love how layers of parts are stacked on top of each other to make a complex surface. There is even parts that can't really be seen unless you hold it just so; it really is quite impressive. After all of the pieces are in place, more weathering will be added to dirty everything up, mainly chipping on the raised areas and more enamel washes.

The winglets were painted with Mr Color 315 (Gray FS16440), the yellow markings/chips were painted with a mix of Flat Yellow (XF-3) and Yellow Green (XF-4), the red strip was painted with a mix of Flat Red (XF-7) and Hull Red (XF-9), and the entire assembly was given a pin wash with MIG Neutral Wash enamel. After everything dries, they'll get a coat of matte varnish and then more weathering.

That sucks! I'm looking forward for what else you might have in store.

I managed to get most of the front skirt painting done last night. It's pretty much done except for a couple of black panels on the top grey section. All and all, I'm not entirely happy with it. I decided to use chipping fluid instead of liquid mask applied with a sponge. It's not bad, it's just not the finish I was aiming for. I guess it will be cool because the chipping on the skirt is going to be different than the hull, where I will be using liquid mask. The colors I used were Hull Red (XF-9) and Buff (XF-57) for the red, Pink (X-17) for the chipping, German Grey (XF-63) over Medium Grey (XF-20) for the grey panels, and Vallejo Model Air Tank Brown (71.041) for the brown panel. After this picture was taken, I managed to get a panel line wash on with MIG Dark Wash enamel. Once that is sealed in with some matte varnish, I'll move on to more weathering.

I wasn't happy with the front skirt but I also didn't really want to change it. After sleeping on it last night, I woke up and was content with how it turned out. Not happy, but willing to leave it as is. I then spent the next twelve hours at work and my dissatisfaction with it grew throughout the day. After I got home and had a lovely dinner with my wife, I head to the studio and decided to fix it. Needless to say, I am much more pleased with the end result. I used the same grey-green base color, applied a layer of liquid mask, sprayed a coat of pink made with Tamiya Pink (X-17) mixed with a little Tamiya Deck Tan (XF-55), applied another layer of liquid mask, and finally gave it a coat of the same red-brown from the first go around only with a tiny bit of Flat Red (XF-7) added. It could probably use some more pink areas, but I'm leaving it as is because I think it turned out good enough!

I worked on the the "fenders" last night. The one on the left was painted with Tamiya J.A. Gray (XF-14) and had liquid mask applied to mimic the weathering on the studio model. It was then given a coat of J.N. Green (XF-11) mixed with a touch of Field Grey (XF-65). The one on the right was painted with a witch's brew of Tamiya greens and had liquid mask splattered on it by dipping a piece of torn foam in liquid mask and using air from my airbrush to apply it. A coat of the same green color as the other fender was applied and the masking was removed. The underlying green was a little too bright so I sprayed some heavily thinned dark green over it to tone it down.

Some WIP pics! Almost finished, just gotta do some final details like more work on the face and hair and touch up some mistakes here and there and then base him and he's ready for some super nice pictures this weekend!

This has been fun and pushed me to get him finished faster yet still carefully! Thanks for this push/challenge! I know I'm not the best painter but it's been 2 solid years since I've finished a model and it's been great to get back into it and re-hone my skills as well as get a new piece done for a super fun inquisitorial kill team escalation league I'm participating in at my FLGS!

Seeing as Farsight didn't work out, instead I'll be painting up Inquisitor Greyfax! Although not necessarily a scoundrel, as a "self-appointed executioner of anyone she names heretic" I certainly wouldn't want to put my back to her!

Hope this is a good enough link to the topic!

Great work so far everyone - looking forward to seeing the finished products!!

(Again, ignore the terminator)

Trying a technique I’ve not done in a while. After basecoating, I just slathered the whole pirate in nulan oil. I noticed that modern washes pool/tint differently then the old ones I’m used to. So this is an experiment with the new washes. Next step is to carefully go back over him and bring up the highlights a bit.

Back in my previous “black wash everything” phase, they acted more like tints/glazes. Liking the flow of the modern washes.

More work in progress goodies:

I sprayed the first coat of green, which is the going to be the darker of the two on the hull, over the entire area. It's essentially the Tamiya equivalent of RLM 02 and I made it by mixing RLM Grey (XF-22) and Khaki (XF-49) in a 1:1 ratio with a tiny extra bit of XF-22 added.

Using the studio model as a guide, I applied masking fluid with torn pieces of sponge. Give the nature of the original paint job, no model will ever match it exactly, however, the goal here was to just get close. This color is Tamiya J.A. Grey (XF-14) with a tiny bit of Deck Tan (XF-55) added to it.

After I painted the dark green panels with J.N. Green (XF-11), I did a quick dry fit of the major hull pieces just to see how it looked. I thought that the RLM 02 color was a little dark so I sprayed the entire hull, sans the dark green pieces, with a very thin coat of J.A. Grey to tone them down.

I weathered the wing supports with a handful of MIG enamel washes stippled on with a sponge and then blended into the surface. This was probably overkill because they are barely visible one the "fenders" are added and the entire assembly is inserted into place.

The panel lines were done with a mix of MIG Dark and Neutral Wash, and once everything fully dries it will be sealed with some varnish and further weathering will begin. This will mainly consist of some filters and streaking on the hull, along with some pigments.

I was pretty nervous to tackle this ship because it's complicated scheme on a pretty small model, but I think it's actually coming together quite nice.

haha...oh I dunno, it wasn't quite that easy, I had to spend hours stripping about 3 distinct layered paintjobs, and a load of bad glue of this thing to get it to the state in that pic ...and since the pic, I've gone over the whole thing with a file and took care of all the big nasty mouldlines on it - that's much easier on plastic minis, lemme tell ya! ...and hey, at least you're doing something that properly fits the theme, dark eldar are pretty much all scoundrels really...I'm still not really sure if mine actually qualifies for entry

Great to see that some people have finished, Nice work ScootyPuffJunior she looks suitability battered.

Sorry haven't posted much in the last 2 weeks, I just seem to have been constantly Ill and/or busy. My daughter keeps giving me colds, little terror

Progress is slow but at least there is some on mine

Currently trying to work out how to do all the weather and dirt and grim that goes on it, also just noticed that I used too much glue to the top of the stand and some has run down the clear plastic so will probably cloud when it dries which is annoying.

Latest WIP

ah what the heck, I'm going to throw some suggestions out for a change

"Fire!" - either something to do with literal fire (magic, flamers, flamey stuff of some nature) or shooting (line infantry, artillery, etc etc...) - that seems fairly flexible?

"Cannon Fodder" - any kinda low-ranking goons that spend a good portion of their time on the front lines getting shot at

"Veteran" - someone/a squad who's been around for a long time, with a lot of valuable wisdom and experience

"Leader" - pretty much any authority figure, be it the leader of a squad of grunts, all the way to a leader of a massive army, or even an entire civilisation

righto, think that's about all I've got...any of them would suit me, and they seem fairly open to interpretation

I like the idea of a "saints and sinners" theme, also could be cool to see "bodyguards": any sort of "command squad" unit,
"Vehicular manslaughter": gory tanks, grime, blood, dirt etc., a "counts as" one could be cool: anything painted/modded up to count as something completely different than the original model, and finally a "renegades" theme could work well: any model or unit of one faction painted to be renegades whether it be by utilizing weapons or gear from factions they loathe/hate or supposed devout servants of one faction serving another!

Crikey, only a week to go and I haven't finished the sculpting on my entry yet! :(

As for next month's theme, I think Saints and Sinners could be a good shout... Vehicular Manslaughter would be great, not least because I have a pair of Chimeras in the works for my Guard army!

@Groo: Nice work, but I'm afraid the challenge rules say no more than 5 models, so if you could pick your favourites and photograph them that'd be great.

Sorry for the delay in the subject poll this month, I've had a few exams recently that have been taking up time. Let's have some suggestions and I'll get one up tomorrow.

Fair enough, but the Rainbow Brigade just doesn't look the same when there is only five of them.

Just about done with my project here, just the purple and gun left! I'll give a couple themes down below

  • Uprising was a good one, again!

  • "Hold the Line". One perhaps dedicated to the Fall of Cadia, but can be used in other situations.

  • "Petrol Heads". All sorts of small, fast vehicles! Not really including tanks, mostly bikes, trucks, and i suppose some hover vehicles. Extra points for da red wunz!

    Some category ideas...

"Titans among us..." --- simply put, the biggest model you have unbuilt.

"A helping hand." --- paint something for a friend/buddy/loved one (for their army, not yours)

"Deep Salvage" --- Buy, recover and repaint an eBay item or used item which has been marred/poorly paint, etc...heck maybe something you painted five years ago and want to tackle again.

I'd be happy with that third one! - that describes about 70%-80% of my (ridiculously massive) to-do pile!

Excellent suggestions I would love anyone of these.

Can I suggest 'Freehand' as a theme. I avoid doing freehand wherever possible so it would be nice to be 'forced' to practice it =)

    My entry/proof!

Kind of pissed... I don't know why I didn't think it was the 'Bones' version of this model... I guess I'm so used to working with the metal versions of their line... there's a big crease on the face and it looks like its not 'lined' up or something... like his face is shifting on one side...

righto, got my funky old Rogue Trader-era dreadnought done...he's going to be a proud part of my salamanders army that I'll be working on this year, which will also include a bunch of his old rogue trader "beakie" marine brothers

...the lava on the base did come out maybe a bit darker than I would've liked...but meh, that's probably just the coolness of the model cooling the lava down

Inevitable_Faith I think those models are excellent. I think the colour scheme and its execution are great.

Dakka always seems to blur my image, more than it used to, does anyone have any tips? I think I may start hosting them elsewhere.

Anyhow, this is my entry for this month. I nearly finished the other 4 models but I think it will be a stretch to get them done and photographed by Tuesday, but I may modify.

Below is my entry for the Forgotten king from Super dungeon explore: Forgotten king. So this is the end of game boss. I've been enjoying a change of style with these SDE models but their casting leaves a little to be desired. I guess I've been spoilt with GW models. On this one I had to carve and clean a lot, especially its hands and bend the plastic with a hairdryer. These things are not talents of mine! I think next month I'll go back to some thing a bit darker.

I must admit usually I've never played with cool or warm highlights before and I've just always gone for something brighter (usually what GW suggests). So on this model I wanted to experiment a bit. I painted his robes and cloak the same purple (pink horror), then shaded it with red and brown shades (carraboug and agrax). I reapplied the base colour, then from there I highlighted the cloak by adding a light blue to the base, Lothern blue. I think I went a bit too blue and it should have been a bluish white rather than a light blue but so I toned it down a bit by using some thin glazes of the base colour. For the cloak I mixed in Cadian flesh tone as the highlight and I really enjoy its warmth, I'll definitely use this combination again. At a couple of stages in the highlight process I smoothed it together with a glaze of the base tone. The end effect looks a bit silly on the model as a whole and I have the warm and cool highlights with no guiding 'theme' to it but I will use this as a reference model for future experiments. I'm having problems matting things down as the whether for the last month has kept me far away from my varnish sprays. =)

Thank you very much Moolet, I appreciate it. I love what you did with the armor on your Boss guy there, the transitioning green is wonderfully executed and gives a sense of movement to the model. Trying to get transitions like that is a skill I'm still working hard on mastering.

Well, finished. Gotta sort through all the pics to figure out which ones to use though. A lot of them came out really blurry and washed out for some reason, and the gal on the far left didn't really want to get a good pic taken.

Moolet: I rather like that guy. Some of the colors are a bit cartoony, but seems about right for the model. Comes off very Rats of NIMH to me for some reason, and that's not a bad thing.

Inevitable faith: I wouldn't feel bad about those at all, they look great, and they definitely photographed better than mine.

Is it bad that that's an Ork flying an X-wing and the first thing I noticed was that it was a new-trilogy ship in old-trilogy colours? Still looks fantastic though!

Going to have to be a bit lazy with my entry and just go with something I painted earlier in the month; between the back end of Christmas and then exams painting time has been pretty thin on the ground this month, so I've not been able to plan a dedicated entry.

But anyway, here he is, a Gnoll Chieftain from Otherworld Miniatures, a really nice model to paint, loads of great textures to work on and he's proper mean.

Its a great sculpt technically, don't get me wrong, it's just a combination of size and fiddlyness that makes me think I'd find him more of a chore than anything, so many tiny little bits. I think the regular Archmagos strikes a great balance between looking suitably ad-mechy but not being too busy, Cawl is just the wrong side of that for me.

Theres a perfectly good reason for that, Orks are huge fans of nostalgia......... and the Red ones go faster.

Done! For this challenge, I had a hard time trying to wrap my head around a rogue or scoundrel ork, since rogues are usually slight, stealthy, thief-like characters (and before you gets any idears, we don't let none uv dem worfless Blood Axe gitz in dis mob!), so I did a little research. I did find a D&D reference to a "brutal scoundrel", and a WOW reference that kindled the idea of an ork assassin; an ork who actually has some skill with his blade instead of relying solely on brute force:

Orcs aren't exactly known for their agility or subtlety, but orc rogues are among the strongest and most enduring enemies any fool with a price on his head could possibly have. Cunningness and stamina makes for a deadly combination together with the Horde's nimbler races. Orcs are extremely resilient, have incredible willpower and will stop at nothing until their chosen target lies dead. Although many members of the Alliance view the orcs as brutish creatures their method of combat holds a certain beauty, while other more agile races dodge and weave through enemy blows, orc rogues simply use their massive strength to punch through their opponents defences, while their carefully honed blades strike at the very heart of the enemy with incredible efficiency. Even though underappreciated in their culture, many orcs choose this darker path as their way of life and Thrall knows full well their incredible value.

So without further ado, here's the final pics of my ork assassin:

Great model feltmonkey, the battle scarred cutlass looks perfect for the model. I'll have to check out the rum and bones models they look cartoony but very interesting and fun

Thats a really cool Chaos marine Lord Borak, I'm always impressed by the 54mm stuff but not ventured down that path yet.

So, final pics. Apparently, need to figure out how to get slightly less light, but hey, at least thats a good problem to have. (also needed to bring the bases up more so the claws and especially the badger's legs showed, but...next time)

I just couldn't do it... maybe 6 months ago 2 days would have been no problem to work on the piece... but with a lot of personal stuff going on, its just pretty difficult to even touch any of my hobby/leisure stuff... totally did not finish for this one.

So, I couldn't totally finish my entry (the base is not done), but here it is:

I'm sad that I didn't take better pictures earlier, but I'm quite happy with how he turned out as I tried new things on him.

Really nice colours and blending them together on your diorama Modock, great work.
Congrats everyone that has finished, nice work all round

Finished mine now so I'll add it to the list of last minute entries. My Ork X-wing to add to my other Ork Star Wars stuff. As someone already commented on my WIP

Well, I managed to slide in at the end. Here are 5 Chaos Space Marines as promised:

I did not finish the bases, both due to running out of time and because I eventually intend to swap them out for 32mm bases, which Space Marines look much better on. I'm looking forward to the voting, as there seem to have been a lot of good entries here on the final day!
