As it says show off your random looking and or unusual objective markers, add a little bit on how you made it and out of what,if you can remember.
I like making themed markers to make use of some of the odd bits i have about,or just to add some variety to a force, example being a chaos princes treasures, anyone who would like to copy my markers go ahead, and any fresh ideas on tyranid objective marker ideas would be sweet.

"My Collection So Far"

1st up Fuel Objective markers. usually used in loot missions where a certain amount must be gathered before the enemy side does the same, and or in citys of death games, where if placed in a fortification or building grants the "torrent" special rule.usable by all but a couple of armys.

Next up Scrap markers. again used in loot missions, makes for good ork mekboy bits, easy to make using bits of broken electronics gears ripped off of motors etc, straws for pipes, bbs from airsoft for cannonballs you get the idea.

Spoiler:

Ammo Stash/Dump Markers, used in both citys of death & loot missions,or to represent single use weapons like the demo charge,or add effects such as re-rolls to hit.

Random Use markers, such as water rations for arid moons deserts etc, adding extra turns once collected.
Spoiler:

Night Vision Scanners adding dice to distance that can be seen in night fighting ruled games.
Spoiler:

Observation points,Strategic Asset Used on scout missions where a certain amount would have be to reached, before evacuation taking vital info back to the main force.
Spoiler:

Weapons Markers, again used in loot missions, and or tech gathering missions for inquisitors, skitarii.
Spoiler:

Booby Traps,Used in Citys of death to make building explode upon entering.
Spoiler:

Spoiler:

Chaos Markers, used as summoning points,or add special rules such as fear, fearless, counter attack etc.
Spoiler:

Spoiler:

Treasure used in loot missions,or as a nice addition or a daemon princes goodys.
Spoiler:

Necron Resurrection Orbs read picture description in my album objective markers to find out how i made it and its use.
Spoiler:

Lastly the few Tyranid objective markers i could think of making and one of them is don't really count being the infestions.

I think you may have an objective marker problem .

I sculpted and cast a bunch of these mushrooms for another user a few years back, and put a set together for my own Ork objective markers.

Then I also put these together for another user.

Yep! I converted plastic stealth to use Crisis suit burst cannons, so had the stealth ones left over. Just a matter of flipping the parts around a bit.

Imperial sector box set looks nice, always wanted to build a medium size manufactorum on a base, but went another way and bought a few boxes of some of the new game workshop stuff instead and some older more expensive models, next year most likely will buy one, hopefully GW won't randomly discontinue them in that time.

Love these. Objective markers can make all the difference imaginatively to a game.

I really should be all over the 40k objective market scene but for some reason all my objective marker love has gone to Battletech single-hex micro scale objectives. Bunkers, comms tower, fuel yard, that sort of thing. Not sure if that's really what you want to see.

Love the little table with stuff on it ,see some space marine missiles on there to nice.

Well thanks, I really appreciate that. I'll post this one just by way of example.

This little fuel yard is made up of lots of bits of junk. The big tanks are some upturned birthday candle holders with the spikes cut off. The fence is a stack of regular paper staples. The gate is some plastic net from supermarket garlic. The trees are bits of tree roots (they make the best miniature trees) the little guy is a z-scale figure.
Most all of my objectives are made of junk, some have bits of recycled 40k bits which you might recognise. Glad you enjoyed the gallery. I've been working on some hex-map airfields, bridge, factory and radar station too recently. I'll post pics when they're painted up.

Still no 40k objectives in my collection. I should get to work.

An awesome Tyranid objective would be a guy in a blood stained lab-coat carrying a large formaldehyde jar with some kind of Nid-foetus in it.

Neat! These are all really cool I've been meaning to make some objective markers for my exodites actually. Got some trees on the way for a cool idea I had

Basically, the native Indians used to (probably still do) hang up animal skulls they'd hunted on specific trees in each territory. This acted as both a warning to invaders, and a method for letting others know which animals were available to hunt (and how many had been hunted recently, preventing over-hunting).

As my exodites hunt humans, I thought I'd do a similar grimdark thing for them...

Think cannibals meet shrikes

Ooo well nice jealous of your turret, always wanted to make a set of 3 as alien style sentry guns to use in citys of death, but could never obtain the bits needed, cool comms array, again you have something i would like to make, likely make myself in the future but would scratch build a dish and use a bigger base when i eventually make my one, lacking aerials atm but they could be improvised.

Damn thats some good recycling yeah seen a door off an old imperial tank on the drinkcaps bunker as doors, look perfect in scale for the little bunker, garlic net - i have some of that in my bits box also its going to turn into 40k style fences in the future, when i get back to terrain that is,several small 40k armys to paint before that.

As for the tyranid idea sounds awesome as it would likely look, but bit much conversion for me to do at the moment, but has given me a brainwave of small tyranid bits floating in funky colored goo in lab jars as objectives, will use clear pen tube sliced up with some tiny control panel and some reinforcement on both ends of the tube, have to wait on that one though, after a few more squads are painted will likely generate another 10,or more unusual and or different looking themed objective markers to add to my growing collection.

Kellevil wrote:

Suddenly predator jumps into my mind, remembering it's thing for trophy skulls,am aware of such hunting totems in tribal and warrior squads/groups,sounds like its going to turn out creepily morbid,be great for more than one army to orks and as you said humans and dark eldar would look appropriate especially for marking territory or for a backround when taking pictures.

Non related to the above replys, voted on a few pictures of anyone that posted there markers on here, since i have not seen a bad one yet.

I like these. They stand out, which is nice for an objective marker. No need for them to blend in with the terrain. Is there room for a die on them?

Sort of intrigued by said project, looked into in it,and i say maybe but will be in the unknown hazy future,When i eventually get around to painting my ork army, and then to do the above would need several more ork thingys to make objective markers, have very few ork parts, not many alien objective markers either there should be more, there will be more,in time i will see to that.

@ scottshoemaker ,Sell those huh, well that's cool kinda wondering how much you charge now ,unlikely to ever part with mine, well maybe the easier scrap based markers, but not the more fancy ones.
@ Winter,Ohh i like them especially the icy water effect, nicely done,Barrels, another wooden thing there should be alot more of,nothing like a winters theme to add more feeling to other wise dull objects, makes you feel cold just looking at it.

Update on this thread,I intend to keep it going but am taking a break from making small 25mm based sets as i'am simply sick of making them,no surprise there how many i have made recently,so it's time to increase the scale and size of my next couple of sets up to 40mm,many more ideas for unusual and thought provoking pieces but need bigger bases,as it happens currently working on a couple of said markers likely post them sometime next week, after that will have to wait a good while longer to see what i create next,at least until i finish this months space marine challenge entry that is.

Edit:Just completed said 40mm markers, but they have spawned a couple of battlefield objectives, and turned out better than expected,so i'am going to make mini versions of them to accompany the bigger things i have made not posting till done so you all just going to have to wait

I recently made a ruined statue objective marker. I think I'll use it for Frostgrave or DnD. Maybe the heros have to conjure something on its steps or retrieve an artifact:

And here in action with some other terrain pieces and scenic backdrop:

@DaggerAndBrush , Autumn fantasy theme huh interesting not seen many of them, have a nice atmosphere about your pictures, nice little marker collection too especially that table/box with deck of cards & candle on,nice tiny mushrooms on the summoning platform/artifact marker, they look very realistic.

@goblinpaladin ,That Coffin looks awesome would like one or more of them myself, wondering if you made it or bought it also cool sword in the stone, kinda want to make a 40k version of that now,but a power sword of course.

Notes on this thread:My next markers will be a long while off and be 60mm in size,But i will likely post smaller little things here and there to keep this thread alive, and so that others can also post there markers and inspire the rest of us to make something different.

The resin bases you get in the '40k basing set' make pretty good objective markers if you stick them on top of 4cm terminator bases.

-Very nice collection and great ideas! Some even feel like mini-dioramas almost!

The following set I made for 40k, trying to give them a uniform and consistent look, avoiding a particular faction-branding (in order to also be able to use them in as many different narrative games as possible), good visbility on the tabletop and to integrate the mysterious objectives rules. They are made out of pretty generic GW bits from terrain sprues old and new.
In games without the latter or before identification, the cover plate of the container will stay on. Whatever objective it turns out to be, a different "content" will show up (it's all magnetized).
Can you guess which ones represent which type of objective?

@u971: Thank you, glad you like them.

I love autumn as a season and thought: Hey, why not make this the theme of my Fantasy stuff. I also think this would work for a Frostgrave table: Late autumn, the first snow covers the land, but some trees still show colourful leaves.

The contrast the trees provide is just wonderful. What can I say, it makes me happy to look at it and reminds me of walks in Germany's autumnal forests, coming home to a hearty stew, some mold wine and maybe a slice of plum cake.

@goblinpaladin: I also like the sord in the stone. Very subtle, but evocative!

@Winter: The submerged barrels are also a cool idea. Didn't see this before.

@u971:

Cheers! All of the objective markers in my post are from Midlam Miniatures, based in the UK. The sword-in-the-stone is a bit fragile at the join and got bounced around in shipping, so be aware of that. It didn't snap or anything, but I'm paranoid about it.

The loot counters come from Gripping Beast's trade goods set.

@DaggerAndBrush:

Thanks! It's a bit cheeky, innit? I wish I could buy a cheap grail-shaped token as well, but postage to Australia is A Pain.

This thread is A-grade stuff. Super glad I joined in.

@Guildenstern ,And lots more idea's to come.

@goblinpaladin,Some cool models in that shop especially the animals i want some of them dogs now to serve as trusty imperial commanders pets, thanks for the link some real tempting stuff to buy there.

@Batō ,Going for more of a mini diorama direction, they are more interactive and interesting than a pile of some resin you have seen elsewhere, loving the magnetization and modular design of your markers, along with the different uses they have i see deathworld maneating mantraps, servo skulls multi use, power generator, teleport homer, sensors or possibly night vision beacons, your markers have alot of uses, likely follow your modular design in the future and make a marker that serves as several objectives in one model, ohh and nice use of the ammo dump drop canisters also.

Thread Update,Completed my challenge entry for this month, and will most likely soon start work on some more markers soon, well when my local shop decides to restock superglue that is! going for archeotech next, have many ideas on how best to represent such a thing all modular in design, will again have to wait and see what I come up with.

jealous of them tank shells too never been able to get hold of some myself, always knew they would make for cool looking objective markers, intrested to see how you paint them all up,
Voted on more of your stuff, while unrelated to markers them ork killakans of yours are just soo awesome cannot express fully how cool i think they are ,would love to make versions of my own based on yours, have the right bits too,but fresh out of 40mm bases atm.

Marker related, the markers i will make next require a few more bits than i currently have, and no superglue meaning no progress on the next marker/s yet ,should be back in stock soon though, then i will post some WIP of my own before completion.

Thanks for your comments and the votes too! I've yet to have a single item get to five votes, so you're helping me get there. Though not sure ill like what I see when one does.

Did you ever own a Vauxhal? Those wierd containers used to cover the wheel nuts of my old Astra. They prob came with the alloys that the chav who owned it before us put on it. They've been sitting in my bits box for about five years waiting for me to pull my finger out and get these made.

When I finally will get round to painting these will be another story.

Nahh you deserve them votes, and yeah just checked how long ago you posted them custom kans,it's just well weird they have not got more votes, guess it really is hard to get votes, lazy wannabe wargamers that seem to hover around the site I suspect, that extra 2 clicks is just too much for them, and no never had a vauxhal likely must have seen them on a brothers car.
As for when you get them painted, your not alone i have several boxes of half or unfinished projects.

Lots of Superglue on the way more markers be coming soon!

My objectives tend to be of the terrain piece type.

Here is a downed Blackhawk (15mm) used as an objective for various moderns games. Typically there are wounded air crew who need to be rescued or captured (depending on what side you are on...)

In game:

And this is my still (28mm). It has been raided by Revenuers, attacked by Greys, fought over by various clans/gangs and so on.

Some WIP Pics (Necromunda) ,Leaving the Chaos Markers for when chaos is a thing, likely do some Nurgle Markers when the new ones are released.
Focusing on the above Necromundian/Underhive theme,Only Heavy Industrial Bases, pipes, razor wire, steel grate flooring etc, have already finished more than half of them, will be as follows.
Water (Funds/Credits) Worth 5credits if captured,Table of Knifes (Melee Upgrades) Smoke Grenades (Concealment) Ammo Various (Credits/Reloads) Table of Grenades (Explosives Reload) Flamer Fuel (Credits or Ammo) Autocannon Shells (Credits/Reload) Promethium Caches/Barrels (Credits/Buying)

Will post them when I complete some non marker related stuff,Won't take long a few days, tend to take all my pictures in batches, will be making them into a collage being as there are many, save clogging up my gallery with pics, easier for viewers to see all at once, more convenient and less messy, likely keep the Fuel Caches separate though as they are more important to the whole games Mechanics.

Looking forward to seeing more of your Necromunda markers coming together. Necromunda is one of my all time most played games. Always just used the loot counters from the box set though. I can see the error of my ways now though. And I have a bits box full of handy trinkets... This thread is very infectious.

In other news...

Got some paint on these bad boys. Decided to colour code them rather than number them, with a few different themes and styles on the go to keep them interesting.

Thanks, I really enjoyed building them, the balsa wood crates especially. I have a few more of those on the go for Necromunda markers because, like your "table of" pieces, it makes sense that these things aren't just lying around on the floor all the time.

I'm totally stealing your garlic net steel-floor basing style too. (hope you don't mind) and given that we have many of the same bits from no doubt all the same kits I'm sure it'll look a lot like more of the same. So sorry if it basically amounts to copying your good work. I'll call it a tribute. An homage if you will.

I did once make a tox-bomb marker... Not sure where that went. It was a water bottle with some scorpion green PVA glue coming out. I'm aiming for better this time.

Those barrels look familiar. Kinda... Stompy.

@ theCrowe Seems Garlic Net has alot of uses for this sorta thing,Super gluing is far from easy with the amount needed though your skin will suffer,Paint i used if your intrested tin bits uhh, warplock bronze, drybrushed leadblecher, washed nuln oil all over, looks to shiny otherwise.
Need some of them crates not got many of them tank handles though, maybe make some rope ones with some string,be cool to see someone elses Necromundian styled stuff your gang could use some upgrade tables,i remember that tox bomb was a melta charge cut in half with green pva in the middle, rather than use a melta bomb though would substitute one for a toxic pool, small enough to work, besides not got any melta bombs yet otherwize would have made one already.

Thread Related : Food & Water next, got a sweet little mushroom patch, and a imperial town well coming together, settlements watering hole, and cave mushrooms was a thing possible to find in necromunda so i'am making them.

Should post some Necromunda Backround on these things they all have backstory's,such as the Archeotech, meh will post some now might as well, will post it along with the relevant markers next time, both the watering hole and shrooms have similar backround info.

From the book >> ARCHEOTECH
Much of the Underhive is unexplored or inaccessible
and amongst the ruins lie factories, machines, stockpiles
of raw materials and stores of artefacts buried millennia
ago. Sudden structural catastrophes are not uncommon
in the lower parts of the hive, so it is easy to imagine
how a collapsed dome could be buried along with its
inhabitants. Over time the dome will be forgotten,
wastes leak in from above, and layers of hive dust pile
on top of the ruins. All this can remain untouched for
centuries, perhaps for millennia, until erosion or a
hivequake open up a small crawlhole into the ancient
dome.
When a tunnel into a new area is discovered it becomes
a magnet for fortune hunters. Any attempt at secrecy can
only succeed for a short while, and soon the dome will
be teeming with rivals. Inevitably there will be battles
over the spoils, and the victors will carry away the
choicest items for themselves.
Archeotech is the term given to ancient finds of
technical artefacts. The richest source of archeotech is
lost domes, but it is possible to find old machines at the
bottom of any deep layer of hive debris. The value of an
item depends very much on what it is. Old rusted
machinery is only good for scrap and will have to be
sold for the value of the metal it contains. Isotropic
crystal fuel rods, on the other hand, remain good so
long as they are unused, and can be traded for a good
price.

43-44 Vents 10 (Bunker Vent & Heatsink Complex)
The gang has found a concealed entrance into a network of ancient ventilation shafts.
When the gang fights a battle it can use these vents to position up to three fighters anywhere on the battlefield above ground
level. Models are set up at the end of the player’s first turn and cannot be placed within 8" of enemy models. This represents
the fighters working their way over and around the enemy using their secret air shafts.

11 Chem Pit 2D6 (Toxic Pool Cluster)
An extensive and highly dangerous chemical pit lies nearby. The pit is a source of constantly changing chemicals, sulphurous
deposits, and all kinds of poisonous and corrosive substances. If you want to collect chemicals from the pit you gain 2D6 credits.
The work is extremely hazardous. If you roll a double or a 6 when working out your credits then the ganger falls into the chem
pit but manages to haul himself free. He struggles back to base horrifically scarred, his skin covered with blisters. His appearance
is so foul that from now on he causes fear. No income is collected.

Ok, Necromunda objective ideas.

There are plenty of items in the rare trade chart that, even if they're not actually so rare they just rarely get used in the game. I used to number my loot counters and have a secret list of items or else just have players roll on a table to see what item came along with whatever creds are normally awarded for each counter. Typically it was small things like filter plugs, or photo-visors or various gas grenades that never seemed to feature in the game otherwise, usually because people just didn't want to spend creds on them.

Roll a D20
1 filter plugs
2 photo visor
3 grapnel
4 grav-chut
5 Ratskin map
6 blindsnake pouch
7 roll 2 D6 on the first 6 items and take both.
8 hot shot shells
9 manstopper shotgun shells
10 roll on the outlanders rare items table
11 roll 2 D10 on the first 10 items and take both
12 smoke bombs
13 halucinogen gas grenades
14 photon flash flares
15 melta bomb
16 red dot laser sight
17 bionic eye
18 mesh armour
19 iso-fuel rod
20 roll on the archeotech table.

It'd be the kind of thing easily done with your numbered crates.

But then there are many more elements of the game that I don't see in play much. Like skills tables nobody ever seems to roll on or maybe just doesn't have access to. You could have items that confer these skills.
- a camo cloak that lets the warer use that run+hide skill
- a pair of (big white 80s) hightops to give the finder the sprint agility skill.
- a zelda style hook-shot that lets people jump up to 4inches with a bonus to initiative roll or something.
- a brace of really nice custom las-pistols that gives your guy the gunfighter skill, but only if he uses them.
- a tool box that gives the finder the inventor tech skill.
-a Haynes manual for a randomly generated heavy/special weapon for turning any ganger into a specialist for that weapon only. You still have to go buy the weapon though.

Items that are scenario specific.
- A blueprint schematic that allows the player when attacking in their next "raid" or rescue mission scenario to move the still (or captive) 2D6 inches in a direction of their choice after deployment.
- Or a data point (just like the one you made) that gives you some bonuses in an ambush. Like some kind of Infrared tracker that means you can all still target hidden enemies.
- or razor wire- when defending in the raid scenario or rescue mission you can make each attacking individual take an initiative test at the start of the game. Anyone who fails starts the game pinned. (Of with a flesh wound if you want to be mean)
Still can't think of any specifically for the shoot-out scenario. Its a great scenario as it is. Maybe your table of knives could be throwing knives that are even quicker to draw than pistols.

Then some items in the game are already territory specific (isotropic fuel rod-converts crummy territory into a settlement) Some more items like that could be good.
- How about a dirty bomb that if deployed in a raid transforms one of the defender's territories into a noxious rad-zone.
- Or an old map that reveals that your lowest value territory is actually the entrance to some old tunnels but you have to sacrifice a ganger for two games to dig them out with no income.
-or maybe even an item to convert a territory into a whole new territory type like a firing range that allows a ganger who generates income from it to substitute a skill he has for a shooting skill.

Then lastly there's the potential for XP advance related items.
- A good book- "Juve 101"-everything a Juve might need to know but be too incompetent to ask. Confers 3 Xp on any juve who reads it post battle while the gangers are generating income. One juve per game.
- or a power lifting guide to allow a ganger to substitute his next advance for a Strength bonus if it's a stat increase or a muscle skill if it's a skills advance.

Or, maybe in a slight different vein... A set of short-range coms beads that extend your leader's leadership range to 8 inches.
-a schoolbag that lets your heavy assign an apprenticeship on a Juve to allow the heavy to generate income like a ganger (While the Juve does his homework fixing the gang's gear) assuming both survive a game.

The possibilities are pretty open. I'm thinking stuff that people would find useful but wouldn't just break the game. Obviously some of these are a bit jokey and occasionally out of style with the whole game, hightops and Haynes manuals and schoolbags, but the point is always to add flavour and have fun with the game.

Any and all of these ideas are of course yours to realise if you want to. No doubt a few of them already exist in the game in some form or other, I've just forgotten that I didn't come up with them. I'll maybe have a go at making some makers for a few of them myself too. Necromunda really is the most customisable game GW ever made. Its an all time classic and the objective marker possibilities are really endless. But isn't this all just exactly the kind of thing you're talking about?

Finished up another large batch of Necromunda Objective Markers.
First up the Watering/Drinking hole, note the hand pump next to the well (Produces Credits,Fought Over,Added to settlements as an upgrade) Happy with some parts not so much with others.

Hive Fungus Crop,In various colors (Found Deep in Caves or Old Agri Domes,Harvested for Food & Poisons),(Can be Sold for Credits) the shrooms turned out okay,Food and Water Sorted, some extra supplies are called for.

A Table Of Ammo (Reloads,Credits),Extra Smoke Grenades (Concealment),Observation point/Firing Position (spy on enemy base, possibly find a weapon,Target Practice spot) ,Lascannon Power Pack (Power/Reload,Credits if Sold) Jerry Can of Chemical Waste (Poisoning Weaponry)

HIVE FUNGUS
Further riches can be gleaned from the mutant fungoid
life forms which grow in the dark Underhive. The
detritus of the downhive provides the ideal medium for
fungi to grow in and, as a result, Underhive supports a
substantial ecology of parasites and mutant creatures.
There are tens of thousands of varieties of fungi and
moulds, some edible or otherwise useful, others highly
toxic and downright dangerous.
Valuable fungi are much sought after. The slow growing
pearl spore forms tiny lustrous pearls within its flesh;
the colour and quality of individual stones depends
upon which pollutants the fungus grows upon as well
as its age. The most valuable of all is the Necromundan
black pearl, a single large example of which is sufficient
to keep a man in life-long luxury. Iron mould is not
valuable in itself, but grows on rust piles and detritus
saturated with sequestered iron and other metals. The
mould extracts water and bound oxygen from the
substrate leaving nodules of metal underneath.
Other fungi have medical or intoxicant properties.
Examples include the dangerous but costly icrotic slime.
The possession of living icrotic slime is one of the most
serious crimes in the Spire, and its export from
Necromunda is forbidden by Imperial decree. Spook is
a relatively common but dangerous psychic stimulant
formed from fungal spoor. More useful is the curative
Stinger mould, which has powerful recuperative
abilities as well as strong antibiotic properties.

64 Spore Cave 2D6x10
Your gang has discovered a hidden cave where many kinds of rare fungi grow, such as pearl spore and iron mould. A ganger can
harvest the fungi and sell it to local traders for 2D6x10 credits.
If you roll double 1 when harvesting fungus the collecting ganger has contracted Spore Sickness. This is a fungal disease in which
plump and colourful fungi sprout from all over the victim’s body. Spore Sickness is not lethal and recovery is automatic, but the
ganger will not be able to take part in future battles until he recovers by rolling a 4, 5 or 6 at the start of a game. Once recovered
he may fight as normal.

53-54 Drinking Hole D6x10
Your gang leader has inherited an old drinking hole in payment of an outstanding gambling debt. The hole earns a small sum
and also provides the gang with a convenient base in the local settlement. You can visit the drinking hole to collect your share
of D6x10 credits.

SMOKE GRENADES
A Smoke grenade or smoke bomb releases a cloud of oily
smoke that is impossible to see through without special
visual devices such as a photovisor.
When you throw a Smoke grenade you must aim at a
specific point of ground – this counts as a small target at
-1 to hit. Work out where the grenade lands and place a
a gas cloud template to show the extent of the smoke
cloud. You can use a patch of cotton wool to represent
this if you like. The height of the cloud is assumed to be
2".

For the Previous Equipment > Table Of Knifes.
SWORDS & KNIVES
Every Necromundan fighter carries a knife of some
kind. Heavy bladed single-edge fighting knives are
the most common type, but needle thin stilettos and
long double-edged daggers are favoured by some
fighters.
Longer blades are carried by some fighters instead of,
or as well as, their knives. Short, broad-bladed
weapons are easy to carry and are well suited to fast
and bloody combat. Longer swords are carried by
fighters who prefer this dangerous type of combat
over shooting. Fighters make use of a great variety of
other bladed weapons including cleavers and
machetes.
All of these bladed weapons are essentially similar
and they have the same weapon profile. The
principle difference is that fighters with swords are
able to parry.

As for what next,Taking a little break waiting until some stuff arrives in a few weeks, will make more then.
some ideas on what next After said break,Nurgles Favored Plagues And Blight Grenade Piles,A Necromunda Solar Powered Water Still,Additional Bunker Vents but modeled differently,
Necromunda Archeotech Dig Site,Ore and Mineral Deposits Rubys Emeralds opals etc,Slag Pile with useful bits Scrap Metals,Trading Post Marker,Table of maps,Shooting Targets.
Listed only the stuff i can build and have the parts for that can be made into objectives, there will be more idea's and always looking for more.

@theCrowe ,I was literally just not a day ago was reading that part thinking on the various stuff to make, most would call for a full on large terrain piece though, like the Mining Machinery or Settlement, not making buildings until i paint up most of my models, alot to go,
Alot of them would be good for the numbered crate system,a good few of them I could probably make though and transform into markers, like the grapnel's,ratskin map's,iso-rod,hallucinogen gas grenades, the shotgun shell assortments (tables of ammo) would serve that purpose nicely,
as for the rest, crates or some labeled boxs would be best.

Camo Cloaks, hmm maybe some hexagons cut from clear plastics glued into a kinda shield formation as optical mirrors, less advanced than tau predator style cloaking,i could probably do that to serve as imperial gangers standard sub standard stealth, thats how i would represent such a skill,
Like the Hightops idea,or stilts ooo maybe some hermes winged boots would fit that more comical side of necromunda, hook shot gun would need sculpting to properly model or just crate it as is or "on paper" equipment,as for gunfighter skill i was thinking on using a larger table with gun parts on,springs pins pipes and such to represent gunslinger skills,
Toolboxs would be easy them german airfix ones are just about big enough not that cheap though,Blueprints would be easy to make and model probably be able to get some detail painted or drawn onto them too, like them sorta like fallout3's blueprints for making new guns and equipment,
Data points with infrared scanners is a good one too i could do that with very little extra parts, just need some scanner like thingys, which i could probably improvise,a Juve book would be cool and again easy to do,imagining a fallout style bookcase with skill books on now, that would be cool in a few ways.
So many cool ideas in necromunda,a shooting range on a 100mm base could be done pretty simply and would be perfect for training some juves up to gain some xp and better skills,For that matter Shooting targets Target Practice at the end of a range or settlement hitting them gain some xp points,or shooting positions from rooftops and such where the 100mm one would not fit,
Trading post could be hard or easy to do,could literally just use a post with a sign on to serve as is,or actually make a small market with a tent or shack with tables and lots of goods on,most of them equipment's skills and structures i will likely turn into markers

One thing for sure i'am not short on objective marker inspiration and ideas.

Nice batch. I like the little dig site and the firing position is a neat idea. You could use it to mark a "hide and shoot" location but it can't be moved. The water hole is pretty nice. Good centre piece for a game, just to add character to the fight.

I'm gonna work on mine over the next while and see what I come up with. Got a tiny Haynes manual made up, some blueprints and the book for juves. All made out of paper (postit notes actually) just need to base and finish them. But I'll do about ten or so different ones if I can.

@Cothonian,Thanks and yeah i have a small imperial guard force but collect several armys, would have alot lot more otherwise.
@theCrowe,Cool,Books blueprints and Juve Manuals it is,I was going to do just some survival books but with a bookcase when my balsa eventually arrives will do that,
So i'am making something else, dig sites will have to wait until i get more 40mm bases,Although think i'am all out of tiny shovels so will likely put them on hold too.

Will be making some Target Practice Targets next, like the ones you shoot at with air rifles, juves gotta earn them skills, going back to ash waste basing for a bit, like the mushroom patch,
running low on garlic net, damn seem to be running out of many things this month, only have ten 25mm bases left,5 will be the target practice set,did have 40!
The last 5bases still deciding what they will become, likely keep 3 for the solar panels array for powering a necromunda scratchbuilt solar still along with the 40mm still part next month that will be made though, leaving just 2 bases for a couple of random things not sure what need to ponder.

Target Practice Targets along with some Sign Posts.
Juves etc can train by hitting targets gaining minimal experience and eventually better skills, the sign posts are more of an addition to other sets,
Spore Cave sign adding to the hive fungus crop,The Toxic Pool sign the Toxic Pool Cluster, note the little mushroom behind the sign and small toxic pool on the other.
Also found some bike bases so i used one to make a "Chaos" Sorcerer Upgrade Marker Something a bit different and set to a specific faction.

Will be a week or more before I make anything else,as i will be finally finishing that half a marine squad that seems to not want to get painted, thanks to me making objective markers,
besides waiting on more bases and non 40k hobby materials, some will become Objective markers others won't.
But rest assured I will be back! with more markers.

Also Advice Time,Thinking on making the Necromunda Isotropic Fuel Rod,but unsure how best to represent it,i was going to go for a half buried glowy green or blue colored rod,
but i know what they actually look like being grayish metal in color, and you know not glowing,so do i go with the glowy rod in the dirt,or not glowy rod,but thinking that, will it just look like a exposed pipeworks then, this will be modeled on my last bike base by the way so you have an idea of scale,
Was thinking on an alternative to the rod in the dirt approach by placing it in some kind of containment vessel like a lead box with a lid so can see the rod inside,so which one need help.

Targets.

There may be a few ideas in here worth making a marker or two for.

More upgrades, or wargear or relics or whatever than actual objectives but its definately in your ballpark.

Indeed there are will keep an eye on that thread see what comes of it,already a couple of interesting idea's and lots of detailed rules i like, although i'am sorted for my next 3 markers, couple of them sets, future markers will be more easy when my green stuff arrives though so i can mass produce tiny bits.

There will be more Necromunda and Chaos Objectives next, thinking of moving on after my next bunch, into a totally different environmental theme, most likely some jungle & woodland stuff,Vietnam style traps for a start,as well as more natural hazards tar pits indigenous maneating flora, critters and really big ants spiders etc,or something more Trench orientated with duckboards dugouts bunker doors flags and such, also i'am lacking bombs for some unknown reason,a few stacks of comically painted TNT Sticks,Bangalore Torpedo Tubes, some IED's mixed in there on the cards in the future for markers, don't have to be 40k or warhammer either, could go all sci fi steam powered nazi alternative reality style, and get a tesla coil dooms day weapon made up or a Lazarus machine.

Chaos (Nurgle) & Necromunda Markers Below,
Blight Grenade Piles,A meaty upgrade for traitor forces, along with favored plagues of nurgle (zombie plague corpse) allowing the use of zombie troops once captured,in games of Necromunda,SWA,Kill Team.
Isotropic Fuel Rod,Use in Necromunda and or Shadow war,In Necromunda it is worth alot of credits,or converts one territory into a "Outhole" Basically a Base, powering its Air pumps,Water still & Generator,in shadow war capture rewards multiple promethium caches.
Rules in the image description, also listed here for viewers.

Nurgle Objective Markers.
A Blight Grenade, also known as a Death Head of Nurgle, is a highly effective improvised grenade and chemical weapon utilized by the Plague Marines, Chaos Sorcerers and other devoted followers of Nurgle. Each is made from the decapitated head of a conquered enemy using an art the Death Guard Traitor Legion perfected long ago.
Cultivating these contagions into explosive devices designed to wound and infect over a large area, Blight Grenades expose those who are injured by the corrupted pieces of plague-ridden shrapnel to the most deadly of toxins.

Rules as Follows>> Captured in Missions (SWA,Necromunda,Kill Team) each unit being able to carry one marker each, benefit granted in the following mission, zombie juves/recruits gain Toughness & Miasma of Pestilence,But lose the ability to use Ranged weapons,
Blight Grenade rules are in the most recent relevant codex, generally S3 AP- Assault&Defensive Blast, can be taken by Non nurgle devoted units, they are about to show there devotion to there new patron by using these weapons, and will become dedicated after being exposed to nurgles blessings.

Necromunda Isotropic Fuel Rod Objective Marker.
Went with the Lead lined box Approach it came out alright, and the glowy/rusty fuel rod, anyway backstory below, rules in the image description.

ISOTROPIC FUEL ROD.
This is the basic fuel rod used to provide power for
almost everything in the Underhive. Rods come from
uphive where they are made in Hive City, and
sometimes turn up as archeotech.

Special Rules
If a gang has a fuel rod it can convert any one piece of
territory into a Settlement. The gang sets up a small
out-hole in the waste using the fuel rod to power its
air-pumps, water still and generator. The fuel rod can
be used only once.

Nah made it with sprue on the bottom and top with card rims covering on one side, rod is just round airfix sprue painted blue washed nihilakh oxide, first time had a chance to use the stuff, will be seeing more of that copper rust in the future.

Actually made a bunch more markers, just not taken pics yet as i borrow an expensive camera to take them, after i post my next lot of markers, the next will be a some time away,as i will be busy next month with orks, bombs, and shadow war stuff, but when i do get back to it,will be using some green stuff, namely to make uncommonly seen amounts of supplies, such as an actual pallet or mound full of lasgun power packs 40 or more which should be interesting.

Chaos (Khorne) & Necromunda Objective Markers,See Below.

Chaos (Blood for the Blood God Skulls for the Throne)
Pools of khorne blessed boiling blood and gore slicked skulls from its throne, bestowing Furious Charge &or Rage special rules to traitor forces,
Can be used by non khornate units however after first use that unit becomes devoted, becoming a bezerker and being equipped as such, used in Necromunda,Shadow War,Kill Team Games.

Bangalore Torpedo's (Explosives) Note the little connector rings that go with the tubes, used to clear/demolish minefields, razor wire, and trench sections, along with dig trenchs.
To be used by 40/30k specialists in necromunda or shadow war,for destroying obstructions, one use only as siege equipment at the cost of a demolition charge (imperial/astra) destorying 6" of obstructions.

History/Backround:Bangalore torpedo's are an explosive charge placed within one or several connected tubes.
It is used by combat engineers to clear obstacles that would otherwise require them to approach directly, possibly under fire.

Outhole Air Pump. (Necromunda)
Follows similar rules to the bunker vents, only not in the ash wastes, this one is vital to a outholes air supply, and if destoryed it has T-6 & 4Wounds,it will destory the outhole 2battles/missions after destruction unless paid to be repaired,
Cost for repair (40credits)

The next markers will some time off in the future as i will be busy next month with other stuff.

Edit: those Bloody skulls are pretty gruesome man. Gnarly stuff. Love the torpedo tubes. Very nice work on both as ever.

Finally completed my new set of 10 Necromunda objective markers inspired by your excellent Necromunda marker sets. Thanks for the inspiration and this thread to share them.

I'm going to post a pic and the rules supporting each item. Just for an idea of how I might use them in the game.

The Acursed Bolter.
Spoiler:

Who would leave a perfectly good Bolter lying around for just anyone to find? *Shrug* Bonus, free bolter. But its not just a free bolter: This ill-favoured weapon inflicts a harsh punishment on the poor marksman. Any time you fail a roll to hit the shooter must pass a Ld test or suffer a S3 hit himself. Not bad if you're a smart guy with a good aim.

Heavy Weapon Haynes Manual
Spoiler:

This workshop manual and the tools it comes with will help any half competent ganger to get to grips with the weapon it describes. What weapon is that? Glad you asked
Roll a D10
1-Flamer
2-Melta gun
3-Plasma gun
4-Grenade launcher
5-Big stubber
6-Heavy Bolter
7-Autocannon
8-Heavy plasma
9-Missile Launcher
10-Lascannon
This item effectively gives your ganger the "Specialist" techno skill but only for the weapon you rolled which you will still have to buy, if you have the creds.

Ammo supply.
Spoiler:

Loads o' dakka. In your next game every member of your gang can ignore any failed ammo roll on a D6 roll of 4+

Grenades supply
Spoiler:

Grenades for D6+2 members of your gang. Roll a D6 for each gang member. On a 1-4 they get a supply of frag grenades on a 5-6 they get Krak grenades exactly as if they had been purchased.

Juve101
Spoiler:

If the Juves of Necromunda are anything like my kids they'll leave their stuff lying on the stairs too. In the post battle sequence (when Juves are busy goofing off) Any Juve who reads this book gains D4 XP it can only be used by one Juve at a time and it may only be used by Juves. Any ganger caught reading this book suffers -1 Ld as the rest of the gang laugh at him and make Juve jokes at his expense.

Groceries
Spoiler:

A handy bonus groceries box containing plenty of essentials for your gang. This will allow you to spend less on upkeep and keep more of your hard earned income. In the post battle sequence the winner of this bonus can add 50% to their spending money after income is generated.

Gas Gas Gas
Spoiler:

(Sorry, its not a great picture)
This box contains a supply of breathing masks and a supply of gas grenades for D4 members of your gang. For each member roll a D6 1-2 Blind 3-4 Choke 5-6 Halucinogen gas

Blueprints
Spoiler:

Your gang has found some very handy blueprints of your enemy's hide out. In your next hit and run mission you can reposition the enemies Water Still up to 8" in the direction of your choice.

Gunslinger's delight
Spoiler:

Wow, these things are so fancy! And light! And really easy to use! You've found a pair of special custom pistols that, when used together confer the gunfighter skill on the user. Roll a D6 to see what kind of pistols they are.
1- stubbers
2-3 Laspistols
4-5 autopistols
6 Bolt pistols

Archeotech
Spoiler:

What is it? Some kinda doodad... I think...
(I tried to make it look like some kind of holographic display coms device.)
Roll on the archeotech table (+ or - 1 if your gang has 2 heavies) and see what you've found.

Sweet Set you made there,a meaty amount too,the blueprints rules are just nasty but i like um,not quit making markers myself actually busy duplicating parts and making others, for some unusual green stuffed creations, love the grenade box going to make a few well when i dig out some frag&krak grenades to make molds out of that is,will require alot.
That juve book damn that's some small writing on it,also funny rules makes it all the more unusual,That toolbox it looks well proper too did you make that? Them respirators look awesome sorta gives off a ww1 feel with the gas cylinders added, would like to make something similar myself gas as the theme,LOL a Hologram! how the hell, not even going to try and guess what that is made from,so tiny and unique looking.

Plans in the works for different more interesting and even more uncommon markers, stepping up my game you could say, using masses of bits, actually already made a good deal with green stuff, but not enough, not for what i have planned anyway. Unsure which or what i will make, will have to see after this month, just some ideas below.

Auto Doc,A medical Table/Bench with Mechadendrite medical tools, and imperial markings added, raises downed fighters, and heals bad injury's such as head wounds causing fear,as a result of there ugliness.
Pallet Full of Ammo,Lasgun Power Packs,Allows access to Hotshot laspacks, having so much ammo allows the users to overcharge there packs throwing them away when burned out, knowing there are stacks more to be had.
Escape Hatches/Ambush Markers/Missile Silos,Made from the old Leman Russ Tank Doors, could be used to make many things,or represent tunnel exits for necromunda special use attacks, using tunnels to deploy deep in enemy lines.
Medical & Close Combat Servo Skulls,Servitors, also used to spy on enemy's and can be used as the mission objective holding vital information, made from mainly green stuff in a small group,2/4skulls.
Necron Spy Scarabs,Singular non hovering Scarabs used to gather information on the enemy, using there low profile to stay stealthy, likely be based alone with some crystals nearby,or in some sneaky looking pose and placement, making some for this already, could do the mold better though hard to release.
H20/Water Stores,Many Water Bottles With labeled barrel/s here and there, worth credits for resale,or reduction in gang upkeep costs, can be destroyed or captured by opposing forces.
Ork Gunslingers/Specialists Booty Box,A table with assorted bits of weaponry looking innards, along with a chest or crate of guns and favored bits,Made from various springs pipes pouches & packs with added ork guns and such, used to make orks a better shot by means of more dakka.
Automated Imperial Defenses,Auto Smoke Screens, made from vehicle smoke launchers, with small radio control sensors and or power boxes to accompany them, used automatically to protect imperial structures when a vehicle is detected within 18" one use per battle only.
Nuclear Shell Rigged to Blow on Command,Makes a Apocalyptic blast with Destroyer level damage that can banish even a daemon prince in one clean hit, made from some old plastic toy bullets i have, that would be altered to look more nukelike.

WIP of my Green Stuff Experiments,Along with the molds i made for part replication, had to make an extra lasgun power pack mold today no way will make enough as quick as needed, going to need like 30+ at least.

Bit's.

Molds.

Thanks for the feedback. I enjoyed making them. The writing on the Juve book was easy the detail on the blueprints was the really hard one. And getting the Haynes manual design right. Oh yeah, the toolbox came out of a shadowsword box set I think. Can't take credit for that piece. The hologram projector is a piece out of a Kinder Surprise egg! No joke. My kids love those things and they often come with very handy little doodads inside. I iust added a z-scale railway figure into the centre and painted him all glowy green. Dead easy.

My experience of Green stuff molding was making more beaky heads and studded shoulders for my Raven Guard. I also made an arm for a commissar which worked out quite well. I found that a tiny bit of olive oil in the mold helps to release the piece once its set.

Good luck with the las packs, sounds like an epicly fiddley job. Your mention of a "Pallet" got me thinking and I've made a few large wooden pallets from balsa wood and PVA and they really look the part. I'm not building more objectives, just terrain. Some urban road blocks/barricades using mostly kids toys and balsa wood. Although come to think of it, what I really should build is the seemingly obvious quintessential Necromunda objective itself... The Waterstill! I Really should get on that first.

Any Fighter within 2" May elect to heal 1wound on the table by giving up there turn,if downed fighters can crawl up to within 2" of it they can be returned to duty in the same timeframe, however there is a chance the old machine will malfunction and every time it is used roll a D6,On a 6 the machine sliped and took an eyeball out causing 1Wound,on a 5 it used the wrong medication and the fighter gains Frenzy until becalmed by buddys (slapped) ,As Well as gains back 1Wound,
If the Auto Doc test is passed and a fighter healed, they gain feel no pain for 2turns after, due to the mass of chemical pain inhibitors in the fighters blood.
Additional rules:If used in conjunction with a Servo Skull Doctor In Base To Base Contact,Said Skull can Plug into the auto doc, eliminating the need for a malfunction roll, the skull cannot do anything when administering to the auto docs worn old circuits.

The Above Drone Medicae Team was Built for multiple use,as servitors for my tech priest,as well as medical auto doc assistance and objective marker duty, for 40k,Shadow War,Necromunda and could be used in other non GW games too.
To people who like or follow my ever expanding objective marker collection,if you think one is cool please cast a vote my way!

@ the Crowe ,Water Still you say,Yeah kinda gave up on my version well for now anyway,as i wanted a solar panel powered sci fi looking still,of which i need to find some copper wire, which i have not got "yet",probably going to make a few more of the above ideas for next time,
Kinder Surprise eggs huh..okay never expected a hologram to come in one lol very cool usage of unusual found parts,Toolbox came with the super heavy tank fair enough ,and aww wanted one that looks the same, but noo way am i forking out for a megatank just to get a tiny toolbox, guess i will just have to improvise,
I did use vegetable oil to help release the molds,it did, just screwed up the edges on the necron scarab mold is all, will do better next time.

Its not actually meant to be a hologram projector. Its the head and torso piece of a little robot thingy. I really just looked at the shape of it and the holo-projector suggested itself. Just added the little guy.

Anyway. Copper wire. Do you have an old transformer plug? Like off an old house phone or some other old electrical appliance that had a big black transformer plug you don't need? Pretty sure if you bust the plug open there'll be a big copper coil in there. I'm no electrician though so I could be totally off.

Sorry to burst in on this thread with a question but is there a base size requirement for objectives?

Show off your Objective Markers! @ 2017/05/12 10:01:44

@ Breotan ,Nope can be anything from a tiny piece of tech,to big buildings, may have the only working comms array inside,or be built on top of a command bunker or armory.

@theCrowe ,Yes i have an old transformer for copper, probably try strip some thick single core wire though,i mean rather than hammer apart a transformer, don't need that much after all,it will get done eventually, plan on going over food & water markers theme again. As for your holograms a little robot i remember them sorta from when i was a kid always on the lookout for strange bits i can use,bet them little plastic eggs be good for sorting tiny bits too.

Nice snow theme, Hawky. It helps tell the story of each piece very nicely. Lends a sense of abandonment and the passage of time, which means different things in each case. Nicely done.

Thank you sir. My whole 40k army has snow theme.

In fact I'm looking for ides for another 3. Not things like random pile of weapons lying in the middle of the battlefield. I mean something that you can actually find out there. Or something that naturally belong there. My only idea now is a paradrop of supplies that landed elsewhere than intended.

Necron Spy Scarabs. (made with green stuff)
Posed in Sneaky looking positions for effect,Used to gather information and operational or structural weakness's in enemy forces, once retrieved by a necron unit,
that unit alters its programming with new tactical information Upgrading weapon damage/power,Strength+1 to Gauss weaponry, now being able to target critical weakness's.
Can also be used as the main mission objective,a necron kill team tasked with gathering several such Spy Scarabs and leave there side of the battlefield, gaining much needed information on the enemy.

Intend on posting only 1 set or factions markers at a time from now on,rather than a cluster of many like i usually do,will be able to keep this thread alive for longer that way.

Very nice planky/pallet/wood base thingy on the shoota.

Here's another wee offering from me. Just for fun.

Its a vulture trap. Because a treasure chest is just too obvious.

Water Storage Cache.
Found in an unashed hive dome,or belonging to A Gangs/Kill Teams personal Water stash containing several barrels filled to the brim with h2o,when found by an enemy force a fight is fated to happen, with the destruction or capture of the life giving liquid as priority,it has Toughness-4 and 3Wounds before destruction, and can be captured by moving it slowly towards a friendly battlefield edge,
Moving at 3"inches per turn,no shooting allowed as moving all the supplies is that units prime focus, worth a considerable amount of credits once found or captured 75credits+2D6.
Alternatively can be Drained in the same way as Shadow War Promethium Tanks, placing several counters ontop representing 10credits each.

That's it for a while now, until i make my next bunch of markers.

@ theCrowe ,Like that Vulture Trap, the bird clearly be eyeballing that meat, looks kinda funny.

Excellent work as ever. Your green-stuff moulded water bottles are really coming into their own here.

Your objective marker collection must be pretty versatile by now. You could mix and match in so many ways I'm sure there are any number of scenario possibilities available, virtually any game could be enhanced in some way.

It'd be cool to play a survival game in a big city map with blips in buildings that can be discovered and used by a little squad of desperadoes trying to survive in a city of death.
Set out about 20 blips.
Draw up a Reveal Table to roll on every time they encounter a blip. It could be anything from water to a boobytrap to some useless pile of scrap. Cool bonuses for data point to reveal 3 water sites or fuel locations or a new thing every turn its used. The possibilities...
Maybe I'm just describing a petty normal kill team/cities of death scenario, I wouldn't know. I'm pretty much all Necromunda all the time.

Well over a 100 Objective Markers now, almost one for every possible situation, more traps bomb style, one of the only marker themes i have not got many of,i believe realistically every squad would have an objective, intentional or not, orders or necessity, plus fancy equipment for special jobs, such as clearing razor wire defenses with bangalores,or feeding digestion pools with body's.

The bottles painted up well,i was worried they would look off due to being molds, will be making a bunch more of them since i used up the batch i made.
Know what you mean about the blips would need them with my collection, think the new 40k edition will have a bunch of new fancy objective markers no doubt, and that will bewitch newbies into making there own most likely.

Not sure what i will make next, but will be a week or two away, need a break from painting for a bit,not even sure how many models i have made in the last couple of months, know it's alot though because i'am running out of containers and bubble wrap to protect them.

Blessed Artillery Shells.
Uses include Large fixed gun or Basilisk ammo, can be destoryed T5 1wound,Creates an Apocalyptic class Blast,And
Worth 100credits if captured in the usual way and sold after battle,Allows a single Large Caliber gun to have +2Strength Against Chaos Targets.
Holy Enhanced Earthshaker Cannon Ammo,The purity seals are made with green stuff.

Working on other stuff, but in no rush this time, nor will there be any more posting of several sets of markers at once,as for what i'am working on next, not sure as i'am still making bits with green stuff and have yet to finish my round of molding, will take a week or more as spare time allows, keep i mind i'am making 100s of bits most are lasgun power pack size or smaller! it is incredibly fiddly work, already made about 50 parts, and 16 new molds, yet still miles off being done, will likely post another small marker set in another week though regardless, and eventually scale back yet again too 2 weeks, that way i have plenty of time to make more,as well as slow down adding to my already massive collection, hopefully freeing up time for other things, hobby and non hobby.

"Blessed Artillery Shells" kinda the next step up from Holy Hand-grenade. Very good, nice idea.

Been working on that water still I built. Its at the base coat stage where you're looking at it thinking "aw man this thing isn't turning out as good as I'd hoped." Needs a load of weathering. Layers and layers of rust and dirt always helps.

I'm working on a bunch of barricades too, but they're not really objectives so much as just terrain to hide behind. Some nice pieces in there though, pallets and building site materials and street objects. Mostly made of balsa wood and toys I stoll from my kids.
W.I.P.
Spoiler:

Any-who, still following your progress, still enjoying your ideas.

These are really sharp work. It took me a closer look to really appreciate how much care and work you've given them. Nice to see another truely dedicated objective enthusiast.

If you have any interesting Eldar heads in your bits box, helmets I mean, I could see an exarch helmet making a good eldar objective marker, or... another idea I just had. If you have any of that clear water feature stuff you could make up a little crater and set an Eldar spirit stone at the centre and fill it up into a little pool like the thing fell from space made a crater which then became a little other worldly water feature.
Just an idea.

@theCrowe - those construction objectives look awesome! I need to spend more time looting dollar stores and toysRus apparently!

Show off your Objective Markers! @ 2017/06/07 20:52:47

Post by: theCrowe

Yes, dollar stores are your friend. Construction sets, city street signs, trucks and trains with loads you can take in and out, usually barrels or logs or something ubiquitous where scale won't matter much. Even Farm sets can be useful for fences or gates or even agricultural equipment you could work into a scrap pile or an agri-world themed terrain set. Even just a tractor can be stripped for tyres or an odd looking chassis to base some ork vehicle on if the scale is right. Not to mention army sets!

Its all cheap plastic junk but with a bit of thought and skill and a decent paint job it can become something very nice. Couple of quid, chop it to bits, glue it to a base with a few choice items (balsa wood/Popsicle planks, Q-tip stick "metal pipes", string for ropes or keychain bits for metalwork, garlic net for wire fence, corrugated card for tin roof, sticky plasters for canvas.) Blob of glue and sand. Spray it black and paint it up. Hobby craft at its finest folks.

Something a Bit different altogether this time,in the form of an environmental hazard & resource deposit.

Promethium Deposits.

Natural raw and untapped oil, used to power the war machines of man and xeno alike, however not without risk,
can be harvested for 50credits after each battle in the rearm phase (shadow war, necromunda, kill team)
The risk is that of both drowning in the tar like substance,or blown up by a pocket of natural gases, each harvest roll a D6 on a 5 the harvester fell in and drown,on a 6 the deposits explode with a large blast S4 AP6,measured from either the large pool or the 3 smaller pool's.

@theCrowe,Your still making that...still,nice look forward to seeing it when it's done, not managed one myself, well so far i mean,as for holy hand grenades, never thought to make any with my green stuff but to be fair did need the stuff for bits production this time, maybe when i get more green stuff skills, them barricades have barrels and such look like good looty spots for any ork,so could easy be used as loot markers, also cool bits usage once again!

Those oil deposits are very nice. Very gloopy and hazardous looking. I could see them used in Gorkamorka to great effect. Like as a wacky racers oil slick trick.

And I've Finally got some pics of this thing uploaded!

One classic Necromunda Waterstill.

And the other side

This thing is made of paper card, plasticard, garlic net, wire, cuetip sticks, 40k bits and some spongey clay stuff.

Got six barricades made for Necromunda too at the same time but they're not really objectives, more just convenient cover. Lots of barrels and pallets and road barriers etc. That sort of thing.

Awesome Water Still, was expecting something smaller,an average piece, but that is real nice marker you built there,
good work on the weathering and metals also, the condenser part inside with the coils looks to be the important worky bit again nicely done, nailed the post apocalyptic feel with that one.

I too have an Offering nothing big or as cool looking as the above still though, but is made from green stuff.
The Classic Escape Hatch,or Missile silo if you so choose.

Not working on anything for a week, until the temperature cools down,so next markers will be a couple of weeks away, maybe bit less, likely be more use of green stuff,
Think i'am nearing having markers for almost everything now,few left that being Jungle/Woodland Traps,Pitfalls,Stake Pits,TripWires,Industrial/City/Hive Themed Hotshot Ammo Box,Krak Grenade Box,Frag Grenade Box,
More Necron Spy Scrabs Sneaking around,Gunslingers Stash Lots of guns with lots of pouches acts as an upgrade and or significant loot,Snow/Iceworld Holy & Or Unholy Weapon Drops/Loot,Food & Or Medical Supply's Box,all of which are or will be green stuff bits, used for the main parts, there are more idea's,
But in order to make them all i would personally have to make likely a thousand objective markers on top of the amount i have now,and as cool as that would look and be,i do have other hobby's that aren't warhammer or painting related,so will likely wrap it up after i have used most of the green stuff bits i produced and made the above creations, ending it by taking a few monster size pictures of them all and updating the first post.

So post them while you got um folks this thread is not a forever thing,And will end after i have made another dozen or so sets, either way hope it inspires others to make something cool for there choice army to fight over,
Lots of interesting and well painted Objective markers here, with a great variety of themes, probably more than any other dakka thread.

A Overlooked area i forgot about now remedied, seems obvious guess that's why i forgot "heavy weapons"

Missile Launcher & Super Krak Upgrade.
Shadow war Price-tag Used or if you prefer necromunda rules and weapon costs use them, also makes for a chunky loot marker.

Made a whole bunch of Objective Markers,Which Will be posted as the markers thread drops off the front page of P&M,in order to maximize the time the thread is active so others have a better chance to share there own creations.
Been a while since i broke out the old flock and static grass, woodland theme is a nice one for sure, likely do some more in this area, besides you probably are getting bored of Industrial/Underhive Themed bases,so expect a couple of woodland traps to make for a nice change,
These half dozen will be slowly posted as follows x2 Heavy weapons,x2 Special Weapons,x2 Woodland Traps, will be posting them in that order one at a time so hold your horses to see what i made.

Okay, sharing my two sets designed specifically for *th. One is just a bunch of banner flags from an old dwarf set I never used (it came with like 12 banners...) Numbered for the 8th of course. The Other is bits from rivets at work. This is the part that pops out when you drive them in. They look like artillery shells so...they are numbered as well...count the shells on each base. Anyway, here you go.
PS: Love this thread. Great ideas here.

i guess i should show my appreciation of this thread then by contributing, eh?^^

here are some objectives i made for a competition specially to this theme of objective markers:

loot/ amo marker...

fallen officer/ surrender...

motivational standard bearer...(rather sarcastic one too^^)

and a series of markers or rather a set ...a set of teleporters for another comp...all Tau themed...with matching six sided die and rules behind them as to have a connection/ transportation over the whole board...:

Poison Blade Upgrade.
Acid Coated combat blade and supplys to poison additional blades up to a max of 10,Fleshbane Special Rule Granted To a full squads combat blades.

@theCrowe , I know the ones you are on about was after some on ebay few months ago for carnivorous plant set,bit expensive though for my taste, although never looked too deep, probably be cooler to just improvise and make a sarlacc pit with cocktail stick spikes for teeth or some such.

Just painted up some of my green stuff bits make a start painting them all ,as well as made a bunch of balsa wood pallets, slowly getting closer to my fabled Pallet/s of ammo. WIP below, although still a good while off before you get to see the masses of bits i have, used to make markers.

Post by: theCrowe

Them pallets look a little delicate. you gotta work with the grain on balsa wood. With the grain cutting across the planks like that you could snap them pretty darn easily.

I cut mine with the grain going longways down the planks.
Still, If you're gluing them down to a base it'll likely not matter of course. Looking forward to your results as ever.

I'm trying to think if i've got one of those plants to spare... i'll have to go dig in my bits box and see.

@theCrowe , Crap! yehh kinda only noticed when you mentioned it,Besides your Pallets look far more, pallety and good, compare to mine i mean,
Still going to keep the ones i made, but looking at your ones, think i will make some more, based on your's,have lot's of balsa left,
As for the poison maneating flytrap things from the catachans,if i had one before i used it would make a mold or two from green stuff,is a OOP bit after all, make a whole bunch more then too.

Next Marker Below>

Cursed Flamer.
Imprisoned in its own personal cage this unholy weapon is tained by a warp entity,And as such has the soulburn, witchfire and or poison or torrent special rules.

New Theme from me >

Woodland Pitfall Trap.
Environmental hazards are common place on many death worlds and even the most primitive human can make this age old hunting tool,
Used to Capture Food, and or enemy units, however friendly units can pull out the trapped when in close proximity to the pitfall trap/s.

Next Marker>

Woodland Tripwire Trap.
Environmental hazard the kind of traps commonly employed by human forces such as catachan jungle fighters, who set up ambushes and cover there retreat by laying down,
simple but effective traps across the trails used for escape, lethal effect using frag grenade rules when triggered on a D6 roll of the trap layers WS.

Progress update:Made a bunch of new pallets based on the ones theCrowe used on the barricades,as such they will be the type used for the eventual pallet full of hotshot, also finally made a start on painting the required mass of bits, head over to my blog/lab link in the bottom of my posts,to see what bits will be used in the future, also check out my entry to the painting challenge,a necromunda fallout themed marker set was made, set in the lowest part of a hive, the sump, ohh and don't forget to throw me a couple of votes if you like the marker vote on it.

There will be a substantial delay before i post my next set as it will be alot of effort and therefor time used also, but you can expect unusual amounts of bits to be used.

Show off your Objective Markers! @ 2017/07/13 15:41:06

@Viktor von Domm.
They are literally from woodlands! as in there twigs and sticks from dead trees, some painted others left as is.
Intend on making more traps in the same theme but different traps, stake pit & pressure plate traps triggering some lethal device, waiting on more 40 & 25mm bases used my last lot.

Next markers will just be some single 25mm iceworld weapon drops one at a time,in order to keep the thread active, while i paint some more bits, onto pallets now, made x10 and a couple of wooden crates, more than likely use a good few of them,as pallet fulls of various supplies, some of which will be non standard, like a pallet full of "Landmines" or "Medical Supplies"

Rambo and Predator you say,not sure if there's anyone left that has not seen them movies,i think that i could manage some anti-predator traps, duplicates of the movie ones, specifically the one the predator see's and avoids,Maybe a Bow&Arrow leaning by some logs and such, explosive arrows of course, think of a few ways i could pull them off,a deadfall trap would need to be on a 60mm base though or it would look massive,as for rambo similar aspects with the traps, already done a tripwire, basically a claymore mine but more ghetto,
no point doing things i cannot do anyway due to parts i have not got m60,rpg,ak47,bowie knife so on,which leaves just a handful of different traps, spike traps, pitfalls, deadfalls, tripwires, spring traps, pressure plates,do like the bow & explosive arrows though, that could be good, would like to make something like that, plus some spike traps as i said before.

Will be a fair wait before i make any more sets anyway,as it will take a couple of weeks before my 40&25mm Bases arrive, however i will likely post some other things here and there as usual, and use up the few pre painted bases i have left.

Edit: Picture below of the Pallets & Crates I will be Using,Made & Painted more than enough for the markers, plus spares.

(My Ideas for Objective Markers) x13 Types.
What to Expect from me in the Future Below, along with info on planned materials use,as well as some new ork iceworld weapon drop markers.
Lemme Know what you think, suggest improvements, different materials that are better suited to task,so on.
However still waiting on my order of 40&25mm Bases, due the 27/28th,but once i have them i foresee me quickly painting them up,followed by pumping out the marker sets below,so you shouldn't have to wait too long until you start seeing the below sets.

Ork Iceworld Weapon Drops.
Iceworld Loot for Orks Fallen on some snow caked rocky outcrops by the dead or dying,no self respecting ork would pass up the chance for an ice cold choppa or nice shooty shoota.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Pallet of AT or AP Landmines.x2 sets.
[Made from a 40mm industrial themed base using garlic net method, painted metals, using a balsa wood pallet, and x4 to x6 landmines ontop of it made from watch battery's]

[Can be captured and used in the following mission to lay a single "2 mindfield patch,of the type specified,AP-Frag,AT-Krak,
also being explosive in nature they can be detonated by firing at the mines in question, producing a large and powerful blast]

Frag & Krak Grenade Upgrades.x2 sets.

Spikepit Trap.
[Woodland Themed with lots of twigs and sticks,a small muddy and watery pit in the middle filled with spikes, made from cocktail stick tips, painted wooden with dryed blood on some for effect]

[Simple environmental trap, sharp sticks dipped in something gross will become more than capable of wounding or killing, can be avoided however on a 3+ as it is not as well camouflaged as other such traps]

Pallet of Hotshot.
[Simple to make using 40mm & 25mm bases,a single pallet with 30 or more lasgun ammo packs stacks ontop of the pallet itself, loose or strapped down, accompanied by a 25mm box filled with 10 or more power packs]

Suicide Servo Skulls.(waiting on skulls)
[Made from Green Stuff Cables/Mechadendrites,along with a resin skull, with various types of grenade harness attached to the side of said skulls]

[A optional Equipment available to Adeptus Mechnicus or Inquisition Only Units, can also be captured as part of a acheotech hoard,as these have access to mind-link technology, each skull moves "6 but cannot be more than 24" away from the unit with the mind link, max range, skulls are armed with either,
Frag,Krak,Gas Grenades, each skull has Toughness-1 and a 6-Save representing the chance of hitting cables, mechanic parts etc,and explode using frag&krak profiles,or produces a gas cloud around the skull for several turns,at which point the skull served its final purpose and deactivates]

2nd Necron Spy Scarab Group Below.
There will be another x2 of these fancy necron units of mine, sneaking around a different set of obstructions each, the final group will be combined with the other 3,in order to make a special swarm unit.

Nice Macragge Power Fields & Nuke,Nice Classic objectives, circuit boards and motors for objectives huh that's a new one on me,good idea though.

Palletful of Stickbombs & Weapons Reload or Loot Marker, your choice.
Yeah i know, never said i was making this, expect that,i'am likely to mix it up with stuff i don't tell you about,
so you still get that oooO that's intresting "moment" when you see some new funky thing.

Pallet of Stickbombs,Upgrades x2 orks or if need be human units with Stickbombs,at no points cost (shadow war/necromunda)
Dangerous Cargo:Can be shot at,has Toughness-1 when they explode it has a large blast S4 AP5 when wounded, centered from the pallet in question, and are removed after detonation.

Weapons Reload/Loot Marker.
x1 Weapon reload upgrade at no cost for a single unit (shadow war/necromunda)

Update on project progress:My 40&25mm Bases have been delayed until the 2nd of august :( soo i'am using up some other kinda bases, made plenty of markers, and more than few sets already,
besides recently discovered i'am out of garlic net for industrial bases,so using some other materials for now anyway, which gives a different yet still industrial theme.

Already Built 70% Of the markers i said that i would make, plus several others i will leave as surprises, will post a marker or set of markers at least every week and a bit until done,
i figure a few months left maybe more before i end this thread and finally showcase my markers,so join in while you can..

Nice Grenades boxes. A good lid makes all the difference.

I've got about 20 or so more objectives on the go myself. Started with a set of wood elf marker stones that then meant my goblins would feel left out if they didn't get some love. So thy got a a few Skull pass bits on bases. Then of course from digging in the bits box I found a bunch more fantasy bits from my giant kit. So 20 objectives later I'm all based and under later and ready to paint. Trouble is I'm enjoying drawing too much to get anything else done. Might take me 120 days to get something to show.

@theCrowe: Sounds cool,i should do more ork/goblin markers myself, still not got many bits for it,maybe an old gretchin guarding a pile-ov-gunz or somesuch.

Howiya lads, lurked on this for a while and gotta say there's some great objective markers here, a lot of inspiration. So I played my first objective based game the other day and we didn't have proper markers so it finally gave me the buzz to go make an idea I had for the 4 chaos gods markers, very similar to your own ones u971 which inspired me as well, but I wanted to go a bit further with each.

So first one, here she is:

This thread is an inspiration super highway!
those Battletech objectives here and originally a lot of my inspiration for these came from the Battletech forums

Are those electrical components? Diodes and such? Looking good whatever they are.

@theCrowe,Yep there Capacitors & Diodes, seems they make good ammo cans, figured why not use some actual electronics/robot parts for battletech markers.
@boundless08, Nice Icon,Interesting skull totem in place of the usual pole.

Will post another battletech marker set tomorrow, its a bigone so stay tuned!

I kept at it and knocked out the nurgle objective marker last night. Needs some more detailing after the greenstuff cures but you get the gist of it:

I don't know what to do for a Slaanesh one at all. If anyone has ideas, let me know

Oooo I like that one, very nurgle,no shame in saying that's better than my icon.
As for Slaanesh,Draping's of Green Stuff Flesh,Sonic Sirens/Rams Horns,And or a ground dwelling Boob,It is Slaanesh after all.

These are some Orky objective markers I made. Made from cereal box cardboard, with some added Imperial transfers. They also work pretty well as ammo crates / scatter terrain.

These are old Warhammer Fantasy square bases with dice from the Dark Vengeance box. A little bit of Martian earth texture paint. The hazard stripes took me a while, but I think they really help the base stand out on the tabletop.

Nothing fancy, but I think they turned out pretty good all things considered.

Final Necron Spy Scarab Group (4)
Posed in Sneaky looking positions for effect,Used to gather information and operational or structural weakness's in enemy forces, once retrieved by a necron unit,
that unit alters its programming with new tactical information Upgrading weapon damage/power,Strength+1 to Gauss weaponry, now being able to target critical weakness's.
Can also be used as the main mission objective,a necron kill team tasked with gathering several such Spy Scarabs and leave there side of the battlefield, gaining much needed information on the enemy.

Necron Spy Scarab Swarm.
A full Size Swarm of x12 Spy Scarabs,Function in the same way as normal spy scarabs, but while acting as one unit, gains a special attack,Eldritch burst,a low power but short ranged attack "6/S3/AP-1 Small Blast.

That's one big carpet of crawly's,i guess this tomb world awakened with undamaged alternate scarab functions,
There won't be any more necron markers now, unless i make another one sometime in the future that is,will have to wait and see as always.

Thought i would throw some idea's out there of stuff i was and still might make at some point,at the same time would be interesting to see someone else claim one or more of the marker ideas below,
Complete with parts guide, what i was planning to use as materials base themes etc.

Ork Hunter Killer Missile Platform.
(Placed on a cavalry base industrial theme with garlic mesh or plant/gardening drainage mesh, using sprue to make a launch rig, adding ribbon cable wiring and other embellishments wheels with hubcaps feet for the launcher, the missile itself made from a superglue top,
with half a bb added as the control dome or small Ariels, adding wings with straws as extra engines, with additional 25mm base with a unloaded vertical standing rocket on a small rack made from sprue with card feet)
Can be used by human or ork forces to launch multiple missiles of questionable effect,it might melt a tank in one hit, kill a whole squad with frag, fly backwards or do nothing at all.

The Bolter of Ages.
(A concrete pedestal made from thin card balsa etc on a 40mm concrete themed base with two eagles guarding the sidewalks,on said platform a rogue trader era bolter is placed representing a master crafted weapon)
In order to gain the use of this special equipment item,a master crafted dark age of technology, boltgun,a trial of combat must first be passed,
Alternatively The item is worth a large credit amount Necromunda&Shadow War use,and can be fought over and captured or hoarded for later use or resale etc.

Necromunda Pearl Eyed Spiders.
(Based on 40mm industrial or sump/sewer bases, cheapo plastic spiders the kind used on Halloween or for pranks, with added green stuff eyes)
Monsters from the sump the lowest part of a hive city, rare and hard to kill in there native enviroment, but once killed fetch a handsome bounty,as the pearls are much valued in the high courts of hive tops.

Pressure Plate Trap.
(40mm Base woodland themed with broken & fallen trees etc, using a ork hubcap the flat ones and a jerrycan with a grenade pack attached to it,linked to the hubcap pressure plate with some PC ribbon cable)
When within 3" Of a Pressure plate trap roll a D6 on a 4+ the explosives are triggered and detonate, with frag profile and small base radius

Spikepit Trap.
(40mm Base woodland themed, with a square indentation filled with cocktail stick/toothpick tips painted up as bloody wooden spikes, the pit around the spikes will have liquid mud in the form of glossy mud using water effects)
Simple environmental trap, sharp sticks dipped in something gross will become more than capable of wounding or killing, can be avoided however on a 3+ as it is not as well camouflaged as other such traps

Necron Salvage.
(2to6 40mm Bases granite/ash themed, several necron body limb and head bits partially covered in ash/dirt etc, alternatively on open concrete with extensive battle-damages using spare bits missing critical parts,
adding some broken translucent green BB's to represent the gauss crystal)
Used to boast squad numbers with extra warriors by means of repair, moving into close range with resurrection abilitys and reviving the unliving once more.

Next Marker 26th October.

You know I'm going to have to do this now, don't you! Gorkdarnit, I just bought a new (1988 mk1 Golf GTI Cabriolet) old car, I don't have time for this! But I want to so bad. Love the whole crazy idea of the thing.

It's yours although got a feeling several others will eventually make there own, since the idea's so easy and simple plus easy to aquire parts.
Also a few variants could be made,Cruise missiles (similar to the V-1 with a nice pulse-engine),Copperhead Anti Tank Missile (a nice domed greenstuff warhead),Archeotech Hybrid Missile lots of alien bits added to said rocket (could open a blackhole, summon a webway,or turn a squad inside out)

As for the others same for them a few variants could be made, etc mechaspiders! lol, necron repair pad a different kinda necron salvage thingy, the woodland traps could be fixed functions aka frag/krak/melta charges,poison/spring loaded spikes.

Meant to post these here a while ago, but forgot about it until this thread popped back into my mind!

Anyway, I built these around the time Shadow War: Armageddon was released, inspired by the detail on the Sector Mechanicus bases.

First up is an ammo cache:

Next, an Imperial shrine/monument, commemorating a victory on some far-off world:

A fuel pump:

And a set of construction tools:

Keep up the good work, everyone!

Them sector mechanicus bases look surprisingly good for objective marker use,That's one nice set of construction tools that chainsaw conversion is well cool, and simple too,
Call me inspired, would like to make a few of them now, looks proper badass, different looking ammo cache too, nice use of the leman russ engine box, that boltgun fits suspiciously well.

Finally got some paint on some of my recent batch of objectives. Nothing super exciting really.

I had a lid from an old Mordheim treasure chest (Not sure what happened to the rest) so I chopped it in half and made these two buried treasure pieces.
A player can move anyone into contact with the buried treasure counter but they may do nothing else that turn as they dig it out. Once dug up it can be moved around with the unit who is carrying it. Thought I'd give them a candy stripe base to make them stand out on the table top.

Then there's this one. Nothing very clever going on here. I took the Bag of Pickled Onion flavour Halflings from the Giant kit and slapped it on a base. Handy enough for playing some kind of "Taking the Hobbits to Isengard" game.

Also, I've gone and started a set of six plastic Halloween spiders. Ork ballistic missiles are too much work.

@theCrowe.
Buried Goodys huh always good to stock up on some extra treasure markers,if my 25mm bases ever decide to dispatch i intended to make a few more of my own,a few piles of sprue silver ingots to go with my gold ones,Skipping the ork missile launcher is fair enough it would take a degree of scratch building and several bits not everyone will have, whereas the pearl eye spiders are almost ready out of the box or bag or whatever them Halloween spiders come in,As for the sack of halflings probably make for a good ratling hunt marker also.

They started out in a bag of plastic Halloween spiders, and some static grass.
Spoiler:

... and ended up like this.

Happy Halloween objective lovers!

I did the bases in a classic SOYOM! (Show Off Your Objective Markers!) garlic net metal so they'd be good for Necromunda but you know, spiders get everywhere.

I actually played a little game with these one evening with my 6 year old son. Bunch of goblins hunting for spiders in the woods. just a bit of fun. I've done a wee write up over on my Goblins thread if you want to know how that went.

Lho-Leaf Herbs & Cigars.
Grants guardsmen improved accuracy,+1 Ballistic skill,at a drawback of -1 Initiative skill to a unit of no more than 10men,also worth alot at market, and can be traded for a whole fuel cache "shadow war".

Pallet of Hotshot Ammo Packs.

I have many more idea's for markers and will share another 10,but beware i have already made a good few of them, and likely the rest in time, either way they look nothing like you imagine they would.
Also today happens to be my 28th birthday, marking a literal age milestone for me hosting this thread, which is why today gets a double posting of some of my more interesting markers.
The new markers made so far are,x1 Necron Salvage,x2 Unprogrammed Servo Skulls,x1 Demon Slayer Sword,x2 Pressure Plate Traps,x3 WHFB Weapon Drops/Stashs,x1 Apothecary's Storefront,x1 Lho-Leaf Herbs & Cigars,x3 Assorted Ammo Drops,All the markers will be added to the massive marker queue, and will all eventually be seen.

@theCrowe,Awe they look cute in a sorta fluffy cartoon way,and look strangely good with paint on,nice little battle report with the spiders bet goblins ride them things lol goblin spider riders,
Want a bunch for myself now, gonna order me a bag after some of my other orders arrive.

Since I am planning to dive head over heal into necromunda once it's out, I am realizing with almost a double take, how much win this thread really is. I think shortly I will rebuild quite a lot of the here shown markers...
On an open battlefield many of the lot of them might be oddly out of place, but in an urban setting all of them have their justification!

Speaking of, how did you do the amo packages...pressmoulded or how else? The people need to know!!!

@Viktor von Domm.
Sounds good,But you should keep checking back i'am far from done with markers,As for how did i make the ammo packs,it was for this thread months back, and is all well documented in my blog/lab link at the bottom of my posts, they were all individually molded and painted using green stuff molds i had to also make, along with many many other things needed for several other markers like the pallet of hotshot,i have yet to post! If you truly are planning to make a good number of the markers here beware its massive cost in both time and effort.

Show off your Objective Markers! @ 2017/10/26 17:36:35

Post by: Viktor von Domm

I am currently on my phone, so no sigs and thus no links...but when I'm home again then I'll be all over it
A friend here from Dakkadakka provided me with that reusable mold making stuff...(I keep forgetting that name always...) and even another friend here used got glue was as a means to duplicate stuff...both put together might reduce time and affordable financial measures a bit. .but in the end...what needs to be done will be done...

Show off your Objective Markers! @ 2017/10/29 10:57:11

Post by: u971

@Viktor von Domm.
Fair enough,And as for duplication with hot glue,it can be done but the quality is low most of the time, unsure if it would even hold the shape of the buttons on something as small as a 2mmx2mm pouch for example, although i have seen some alright barrels made from hot glue here on dakka as you said,so a fuel dump, water stash, and some booby traps could likely be made.

.Anyone have any "good" idea's for objective markers, and you think i can pull it off, post away! be detailed on construction if possible, see how i presented the ideas above.

Continuing on from my Bag of pickled onion Hobbits here's the rest of my fantasy objectives snaffled from the Giant kit.

A grave stone- could be the final resting place of some venerated captain or whatever that your force must defend against the taint of a necromancer or pillaging grave robbing goblins or something.

The skelly-signpost reads "Death's Door B'n'B", just thought it'd be funny if even the inn keepers of the old world were into this kind of thing. Brings in the punters, you know.
Anyway, maybe said Innkeep picked the wrong Skelly to give this posthumous appointment as head of marketing. Jaunty hat notwithstanding this is no way to treat the sacred remains of the venerable Abbess of Sigmar (or whoever your faction would go to war over)

Get Mayor Goodbody- is that "get" like "hunt down and dismember" or "rescue from certain death"? You decide, whatever makes sense for your game. This piece was the raggedly looking fella who's running from the giant (or stuck in his cage) but I gave him a big hat and a cloak and some bling to make him look more like an objective than a statistic.

Last up the chaos stone. Its big and dangerous and oozing with evil power- go break it or take or seal it or use. Whatever your power hungry hoard might care to make of it is up to you. Just slap it on the tabletop and its game on.

Pallet of Gas Canisters.(Inspired by theCrowe's Necromunda Gas crate)
Grants a single squad gas grenades of a randomly determined type chosen by a D6 roll, example 1/2 Choke,3/4 Hallucinogen,5/6 Smoke, follows necromunda rules for size, drift, time it lasts etc,can be sold after capture for credits.
(Complete with actively burning canister,to represent the center of the generated gas cloud)

The Only Scanner for Miles.(Featuring new industrial double diamond grating)
Upgrades a single unit with an auspex scanner free of cost, alternatively acting as the only mission objective, after running a gauntlet of critters, retrieving the scanner being required to reunite with the rest of your unit, after getting lost and running said critter gauntlet.

@timd.
Holy crap that's alot of barrels, crates, fuel tanks and barricades, well painted too! nice work, also on the loot markers.

@theCrowe.
Damn they some colorful markers nice and bright, them basing materials look familiar, liking the chaos stone and the bnb skull post, gives off a bit of a pirate vibe that bnb marker.

Working on more markers soon,a stupid amount to be honest, will be hitting overlooked unusual and again vastly different atmospheres,WHFB will get a whole month+ pallets of supplies will be beefed up with more fancy kit,Traps will become more hi-tech,alternative fantasy/video game themed markers are on the cards,as are weapon upgrades,farm/revenue pieces, treasures, and special/tactical pieces,+critters, slowly picking at my collection of idea's a couple at a time.

For any newcomers,i post new markers or set of markers every 10days keeping the thread alive with both new material and idea's,of which i have MANY.

The double diamond plate really looks the part. Excellent staging. Really makes the objective more than just a piece glued to a base.
Staging a good idea is always tricky. But it makes all the difference, and honestly, with the right setup almost anything could be an objective.

Really nice work on that active gas cloud centre marker. Could totally use one or two of those in a game of Necromunda. What's the smoke made of?

Automatically Appended Next Post:

I'll drop these in too. Couple of magic items. I've had the winged scroll for absolute ages. (Back when WFB fliers could "fly high") It used to represent a magic item that my Eagle Mounted Mage had, like a Dispell Scroll or something.

The other one I made just recently because I had the book. The bookshelf is a bit rough but it does the job. It could be an item that grants your magic user an extra spell or some power of some sort. Or it could just represent a rare and forbidden tome of eldrich lore that your despicable captain wants to get his grubby little mitts on.

Project Update: Finished producing green stuff bits,a large variety of new parts, several objective markers got built, with several more waiting on construction,
So in other words anyone wanting to join in with some objectives of there own has more time to do so,or you can just wait and watch, either way markers will be posted..

@theCrowe.
Well with the garlic&garden mesh,i now have a 3rd type of industrial looking basing material, although i have seen it used on many ork conversions and buildings,
The smoke is just cotton wool hit with some watery and old sunburst yellow, and some nuln oil wiped in,The Birdbook is a well funky fantasy piece, thinking the shelf&spell book definitely gives of the forbidden lore feeling, ahh dispell the classic choice for robbing one's foe of there magics, also cool cobblestone base!

My FoW objective markers:

From left to right: Wrecked Crusader III, ammo dump, and wrecked M4A1 Sherman. I have both a North African British and American armies so I use the ammo dump always and then switch out the wrecked tank depending on which army I'm playing.

Very Nice SPJ. Always nice to see things in another scale. What scale is FoW? It looks like 15mm or thereabouts. Smaller maybe?

Thanks mate.

And yes, FoW is 15mm (1/100) scale.

Ok, if I wasn't already 6mm-ing (that's a legit verb now) it up in the skies of WW2 I'd be tempted to upgrade. Luckily I don't get out much or I'd've ( another totally legit word) bumped into a few more FoW players and I'd be going broke in 15mm.

Anyway... Hey look a pair of 28mm hazardous terrain markers!

Carnivorous plants and swamps. Just a walk in the park for the average Catachan trooper.

In the spirit of the new release of Necromunda.

Necromunda Pearl Eyed Spiders.

Monsters from the sump the lowest part of a hive city, rare and hard to kill in there native environment, but once killed fetch a handsome bounty,as the pearls are much valued in the high courts of hive tops, worth 1000credits each,Also being of the mutant critter family they are both strong and hard to kill,Toughness-5 Wounds-4,additionally they have lethal venom during melee they always wound on a 2+.

@ScootyPuffJunior.
Nice to see some non Warhammer objectives,Cool looking & well painted markers at that.

Next Marker 25th November.

Nice metallic green hint on those spiders. The larger bases makes them a bit less comic too.

I've finally got pictures of my two fantasy army sets.

Wood elves - Forest magic/boundary stones.

And a bunch of fancied up Skull Pass Goblin Objectives. I put the Big Badmoon on an upturned tree stump because I didn't have the teepee that its meant to go with.

I figured I could use the Big Badmoon in some sort of 'capture the flag' game so I made a Wood Elves flag too from an old Standard.

Got another batch of Necromunda objectives on the brew thanks to some choice bits from the U man himself. And I've just finished putting together some GorkaMorka scrap counters so expect to see both of those sets in the next few months.

Ork Racing Scarabs.(1)
Auto Captured after Ork Victory vs Necron Tombs,Orks can repurpose anything, scarabs are no exeption to that rule and some intrepid mechboys have given them new programming and a new orky paintjob, then put them on the racetrack to make some teef,[themed as if they are at a small orkish pit-stop] Equips a single ork boy or nob with a trusty scarab sidekick acting in all respects as an attack squig.

How important is it to have a visible number on an objective marker? I know some game types allow you to remove objective X. I play Tyranids, I have lots of ideas for organic cool objective markers, the problem is, there really isn't a way to denote what number it is easily for play purposes. The only thing i have thought of is using eggs, 1 egg, 2 egg, etc... but then that limits the creativity a bit.
Do you find that having a visible number to denote the objective marker is needed

It's only really a factor if you play non fluffy games using up to date rules, you could just use small clusters of rocks,or bits scatter, pouches, powerpacks, knifes if non alien, the number of bits indicating the marker number,or if you want to keep it more hidden some numbers under the base,as for tyranids numbering, bubbles would be smaller than the eggs easier also, some veins running off them maybe to add effect, another option would be use poison glands from genestealers etc, they are very small a few of them could be used the same way.

Ooooo I like the toxin sacs idea. Though those are kinda small. I plan on using 40mm bases,

Maybe based on terrain feature, like
the genesetealre nodes have 2 &3 openings, make something with like 1, ,5,6 unique features.
SO like 1 would be a large Spike, maybe like a sprouting Capilary tower, 2 genestealer node, 3 genestealer node, 4 could be like 4 spikes, 5 spikes, 6 spiky things or eggs. i dont know, just thinking out loud.

I did just see the new Chapter approved Objective markers and that gave me some ideas.

I reckon your best bet is to make something creative that looks great and just add a number to the edge of the base. A lot of the time I'm painting that area bright colours that are outside of the in-world-theme anyway so a small number there wouldn't ruin anything. Best not to let the numbers ruin a great marker set idea.

Alternatively, what I've done before is just draw up a numbered list of the markers in play. Assuming they're not all the same.

A Trap,Some Imperial Supplies & Necron Goodys.

Spikepit Trap.
Simple environmental trap, sharp sticks dipped in something gross will become more than capable of wounding or killing, can be avoided however on a 2+ as it is not as well camouflaged as other such traps.

Food Supplies.
Grants a single unit a bonus to initiative skill,as a result of being well fed and free from exaustion.

(The above Supplies marker granted is not very themed by that i mean i literally could not find food bits "no kroot" so went with purely pouches, kinda boring as such below is a extra that's nicer)

Necron Emerald Pile.
Necron Technology is partly crystal based, harvesting of new crystals allows the overcharging of necron powercells using the new fresh crystals, when within "12 necron weapons are even more deadly +1 Strength to necron warriors gauss flayers,The piles are however fragile and easy to destroy, having Toughness-2 Wounds-1 "immune to laser based weapons which reflect rather than hit".

@Dynas.
Capillary Towers would make for nice little markers, don't forget to post your markers here when you make them, not enough alien themed markers in this thread.

Next Markers 15th December.

Some seriously nice looking Gorkamorka scrap markers,I spy a bunch of them bits i sent you, glad you found uses for them.
As for the Racing Scarabs had to have a red one,was going to try a black&white checkerboard scarab group but figured it would look weird the others being actual colors so abandoned that idea, besides was not confident in my ability to manage the pattern.

Some spiffy (and inspiring) examples in this thread!

I have not done any recently, but here are a few I did quite some years ago:

Spoiler:

Nothing exciting, but they're functional. I don't have these anymore, unfortunately, as they have disappeared in some move or another over the last 7 or 8 years since I did them up. Curiously, I *distinctly* remember having done one as an !, one as an X, and another with a ? on it...

Neat little sign bit, though!

Ok, got these done and pointed a (admittedly crappy iPhone) camera at them.

Another set of Necromunda objective markers. These have largely been made possible by a very welcome gift of sundry bitz from the man himself, the Marquis de Markers, the Count of Counters, Barron von Bonus, the Ultimate Upgrader, Patron Saint of pallets, Regent of Reloads and Scion of Scatter. The only official Objectives Ombudsman known to you and I as U971. So thanks buddy.

There's never any shortage of stuff you might want to blow up in the Underhive so I've gone and made these two. A base of rudimentary explosives. Dynamite, stick bombz, plastique, whatever you say it is so long as it explodes. The other one is a base of Molotov cocktails, or as we call them where I come from Petrol Bombs. I made the bottles a bit too big and they're pretty rough but it works well enough. And just like with the explosives, just agree on rules that will suit your game and get blasting.

Next up its the techno duo. In U971's batch of bits I found a couple of skulls for servo skulls and a few scarabs too so I figured why not make a Servo-Scarab. Any suggestions for a name for this guy? (Skully McSkull-face is not it)
The other thing is just a straight up techno-McGuffin. Destroy it, steal it, defend it, repair it, switch it on, shut it down, whatever the story of your game requires.

Next up we have the information war trilogy. The laptop, the briefcase and the key card. Mug a sentry for his key card and use it to access your enemies' compound. Steal the laptop and leave the briefcase behind as a nasty surprise. Or protect the "Bosses dirty laundry" like the briefcase in Pulp Fiction in an ambush scenario. Or you could just be in it to steal the secrets in the briefcase or the laptop. Always good to have an object to give your fight a little flavour.

And then its the fancy gear combo. Another take on "the only scanner for miles" and a handy observation and Vox marker. Scanner could be used to help spot hidden enemies or traps. Vox and scope could be used to call in an air strike or an evac. Or either could extend initiative or leadership range if that made sense in the context of a situation. It'd be funny to play a commando game where one little dude goes around the board in a mad escapade getting bonuses like these to help him along in his one-man mission and up his kill count.

Thanks again to the U-man. I've still got lots of your bits still to use and two more fantasy markers planned for the future already. Always lots of markers still to make when inspiration strikes.

Very nice. I really like that Quest notice post. Its a super idea.

Nice deamon slayer sword too. I was thinking it looked a bit plain but then so does the Holy Grail so maybe it has that same holy humility in its design. Not like some big flashy possessed sword of flaming rock and roll. Though, now that I mention it...
Thinking like, a sword in a stone... But with a Gibson Flying V, a flaming one! Sorry, I'm getting carried away.

I've got another couple of fantasy objectives still to complete. Someday they'll make it on here.

First time making obj markers; still unpainted. These are all Death Guard/Nurgle

First up, objective markers:

This is a Death Guard weapons cache; just a few weapons in a holding cell, plus a backpack and 'nades. Nothing too crazy

This objective made me realize just how small a 40mm base really is, LOL! This is a still alive Plague Marine, hes got corrosive ooze and tendrils crawling from his corpse. Being at the front lines he has valuable intel that the Death Guard could use... or maybe just a corrupted gene seed.

These are my other four objective markers; Nurglings guarding an ancient Nurgle tome, a Death Guard banner with some severed heads scattered about, a barrel of toxins that the Death Guards plague surgeons and Blightspawns could use, and lastly (my favorite) a small warp portal with a plaguebearer crawling out.

No point fighting it, I'm obsessed now. All other projects will have to wait.

Well, this is a fun thread

Might inspire to do some little chopping n gluing stuff.

In the meantime I'll just drop these here (from a fun challenge Skalk Bloodaxe put up a few years back)

They were built for the challenge, but as I don't play I eventually passed them to a friend to use as objectives (or even just scatter terrain)

As per the challenge guidelines, built using junk. One of them is based on an old epic base, that and an old scalextric tyre are the only 'model' parts in there. Pens, keyrings, bits from a camera, matchsticks, wires, staples etc for all the rest.

This is a little shrine. It could confer some sort of blessing on anyone on pilgrimage to the visit the sainted relics therein. Call it a ward save or whatever fits the game.

Then next up here we have the Wizard's Window. Complete with seeing stone, a selection of potions and a magic book.

You can catch up on your ancient lore, spy on some distant enemy or simply nab a magic item or two. But look out for the wizard!

I hope I'm not digging a topic too old So many wonderful ideas here so I didn't want to start a new topic just to post one picture.

Recently I thought about some custom objective markers. I got Munitorum containers set and it's got a ton of barrels and crates. I took 6 bigger crates to make simple objective markers. I know it may be considered low effort, but it's my first attempt at this. I haven't considered basing them, as I don't have bases large enough, but maybe will do it in future.

Total shameless bump because this is still a huge resource for anyone thinking about a set of objective markers for any kind of game.

I'll post my first ever marker made waaaay back I the days of original Necromunda when they released the Outlanders expansion. I used this to mark where a Tox Bomb landed.

Pretty basic stuff.

anyway, if you have any objective markers of your own to share or just want to comment on all that's on display here let's keep the thread alive.

post apocalyptic RC Trucks! I didn't even know that was a thing. Amazing! Sounds a bit Robot Wars!

Here we have some bonus equipment options, sword & shield, armour, Bow and arrows. Some magical items, magic missile, spell scroll, wierd talking puddle of goop. Then a bit more generic Treasure and a mysterious bag! Very handy.

Not sure if I should hit the whole thing with primer and just paint it all or if I should just do the individual weapons so I can just stain the wood.

Never quite done with objective markers, so here we have some 6mm WW2 water objectives for air rescue games.

First up its this guy.

But who is he? A downed airman, a sailor, an enemy combatant, a VIP? Whoever he is it looks like he needs a lift.

Or how about these guys?

A downed bomber crew, a squad of commandos returning from a daring raid with war winning intelligence. Drop a seaplane down to pick those boys up and try not to get shot down by that enemy patrol coming in from the west.

Or this downed seaplane.

Perhaps the pilot has taken on too many men from the water and can't take off again. Taxi over to rendezvous with a waiting sub while the air battle rages overhead.

These torpedoes can be used by the enemy planes attacking the sub if they can get a shot off before they're intercepted.

Lots of options for low level air combat gaming.

Great thread, love everything I've seen. I'm a huge fan of personalized objective markers even though I only own a few. Below are my favorite, despite them not being fully painted. You get the idea though.

Our Necromunda gaming group just a gaming day and holiday gift exchange for which each of us had to make two objective markers for two randomized people.

First, two completely scratchbuilt mini dioramas:

Grillin', with ribs, steak, Sierra Nevada and Coors beers

Beerfest, with sausages, cheese, bread, a pretzel and a of course a large beer

Comm station

Of course there had to be a Baby Yoda...

Malekith and friends

My old school Cawdor shrine. Did not finish the tops of the torches...

The request for this one was "Trash, more trash, quality trash and rubbish".
Started with an Armorcast dumpster and added a bunch of stuff.
