Ok, I took notes on Frankie and Reece's gameplay opinions. They also did a rules overview but you guys can read the books yourselves. The stream was like 6 hours so I'm sure I missed a few things, but here you go. Good stuff list is just some of the units/rules they called out. Absence from the list does not imply unit is bad. Very few units/armies were called out as being actually bad.

Long post is long.
Spoiler:

General Stuff
Snipers will generally need a couple turns to kill a character. 3 Vindicares is about the level to kill a character a turn. Hit or miss depending on the army you're playing against.

60-90 minute games once you're used to rules and playing quickly. Game shouldn't go longer than 2.5 hours. (2k points)

If a unit has a default weapon on their datasheet, but can replace it with something else, you don't need to buy that default weapon. FLG will put out a spreadsheet for list building.

Screening units are going to be important. First turn charges are possible.

Tanks are a lot harder to kill.

Shooting pistols in combat is just ok in practice, combat is usually over before they can be used.

Weapons were pointed for their specific army, not cross-compared

Ballistari are awesome (both shooting and cc)

Reroll was most used CP

Abilities that prevent falling back are very good

Smite is a solid power for most armies. Smite spam can be pretty strong.

Deathguard one of the weaker armies for now

Tau overwatch is even better than 7th

Averaging around 6 CPs with most armies. Build towards a better army, not to spam CP.

Imperial Knights always go first

LOS blocking terrain really important, recommend 2-4 pieces at least.

Top 5 factions (Not in order, subject to change): Frankie (Marines, Dark Eldar, Harlequins, Orks, Nids) Reece (Harlequins, Scions, Nids, Orks, Marines)

Bottom 5 (Eldar, Inquisition, Demons, Legion of the Damned)

Favorite Rule Change: ICs can't join units

Least Favorite: Exploding Vehicles

Reece: "Open Topped vehicles that can fly are the best vehicles in the game"

Harlequins one of the best armies in the game. Big on Dark Eldar too.

VSG is still really good

Marines

Reece: "Missile Launchers are probably the best ranged weapon in the game"

Lascannon Centurions w/ an Apothecary is a strong unit

Crusader weakest LR variant. Godhammer probably best of three stock variants.

Grey Knights fragile but hit hard. Recommend Paladins

Jump Pack BA are good. Dante + Sanguinor beats your face.

Aura buffs and their interactions are the big part of list building.

Good Space Wolves stuff: Blood/Swift Claws, Wulfen, Rune Priest, Wolf Guard w/ Combis

Get more mileage out of bigger units in general (Blood Claws, 6 Centurions, etc)

Servitors are terrible. Fenrisian wolves are bad.

Super expensive units are usually resilient enough to still do some work.

Drop reserves first during deployment.

Dark Angels better then they have ever been. Deathwing Knights, Azrael, Black Knights

Land Speeders w/ 2 heavy flamers is secret sauce.

Don't need anti-air weapons

Flyers are hit and miss. They don't use them that much

Grav is still good, just not auto take.

BA one of the best CC armies

Vindicator sucks

Rowboat is so stronk.

Guard

Manticore probably best Guard artillery. Basilisks and Wyverns good too.

Need to be cognizant of all your Guard characters not being part of a unit now.

Good Guard stuff: Bullgryn w/ Primaris, Rough riders, Scout Sentinels w/ heavy flamer, Scions, Yarrick one of best HQs in game, Taurox Prime OP, Astropaths

Executioner plasma is bad. Battlecannons is good. Double battlecannons on Knights one of the best loadouts.

Stormlord is best superheavy

Index Imperial 2 other stuff

Mechanicus good stuff: Cawl, Electro Priests (shooty and choppy), Iron Striders, Dragoons.

Rangers lackluster, but overall Mechanics units are solid

Knights are one of the stronger armies. 3-4 Knights tough to deal with.

Shooty Knights are better. Stomps better than the sword.

Sisters good stuff: Acts, Celestine (must take), heavy flamers, Repentia, Penitents, Full mech, Priests

Sisters of Silence flamers are best, swords are meh.

Plasma Acolytes + Coteaz

Custodes play pretty much the same.

Orks

Orks good stuff: Jumping Shoota Boys, Meganobz or Gitz, Bosses, Big Meks, Nauts, Burnas, Tankbustas, Big Choppas, Stormboyz, Rokkits, Lootas.

Boyz do a lot more damage. Trukks and sloggers both work. Nobs way better

Dakkajet one of the best flyers.

Stompa is worth the points.

Buggies/Skorchas way better.

Wagon w/ rolla good in combat, hard to kill even w/o 'ard case.

Put skorchas on your walkers. Put wrecking balls on your trukks.

Meganobs good for soaking overwatch

Likes Lootas over Bustas because of range

Tau

Tau good stuff: Crisis Suit armies, Missile pods, Commanders, Stormsurge, Kroot w/ aura buffs, Savior protocols, Sniper drones.

Didn't miss JsJ

Regular Commander > Coldstar

Riptides not so good. Don't usually take more than one.

Fish of Fury is decent. Frankie big on suit armies.

HRR and HYMP both good choices for Broadsides.

Vespids are decent

Tyranids

Tyranids good stuff: Psychic powers, Swarmlord, Swarmlord, Swarmlord, Broodlord (best HQ), genestealers, Prime (2nd best HQ), adrenal glands on all the things, Rippers, Hive Guard, Venomthropes (auto include), Biovores, Damn near everything apparently.

Flyrants still good, but not like 7th.

Tervigon is just ok. Warriors a lot better than before. Termagaunts just ok, Hormaguants awesome. Zoanthropes meh. Pyrovores in a pod are pretty good. Harpy/Crone ok. T-fex not very good

Reece: "Tyrannocyte one of the best transports in the game"

Tyranids can put out lots of mortal wounds from different sources

Lots of deployment options. All medium bugs build is probably hardest to pull off. Nidzalla is really good.

Genestealer cults

Cult good stuff: Ambush, Unquestioned loyalty, Patriarch, psychic powers, Magus, Primus, Acolyte hybrids, the good Guard stuff, the good Nid stuff, Standard Bearer, Goliath

Psychic powers some of the best in game. Unquestioned loyalty one of the strongest rules

MSU is a good strategy. Glass cannon army. Spamming demo charges is good

Eldar

Eldar good stuff: Phoenix Lords except Baharroth, Noobdrad, Avatar, Farseers, Warlocks, Storm Guardians, Wraiths, Dire Avengers, Scorpions, Wave Serpents, Shining Spears, Distort

Eldar got the bat, the world rejoices.

Shuri Cannon > Scatter laser

Wraithlords way better. Banshees super fast, Hawks are ok. Warp Spiders not as good as before. Playstyle is pretty similar to 7th

Fire Prisms are ok. Low damage output

Sun Cannon + Shield is best Knight loadout

Ynnari way better than straight Craftworld

Dark Eldar

Good DE Stuff: Power from Pain, Transports, Drugs, Lillith, No Escape, Drazor + Incubi, Kabalite Warriors, Mandrakes, Reaver jetbikes, Hellions, Flyers, Heat Lance

Archons not that good

No rerollable 2++

MSU not as good. Take 10 man squads

Best flyers

Raiders are hard to kill. Reece "Best transport in the game"

Probably most improved army. One of the best.

Blood Brides > Wyches

Harlequins

Reece and Frankie: "One of the best armies in the game"

Good Harle Stuffs: Psychic powers, Rising Crescendo, Star Weaver, Fusion pistols, Solitaire, Shadow Seer (Best HQ)

Faster than you, shoot better than you, fight better than you.

Just bumrush with Star Weavers and win.

Necrons

Good Necron Stuff: RP, Overlord + Lord + Cryptek, Named Characters, Immortals, Big warrior bricks, Deathmarks, Flayed Ones, Quantum Shielding

Character auras are really powerful and important

Heavy Destros and Warriors for anti-vehicle

Heavy Destros > Doomsday Ark

Wraiths not as good as before

Illuminor is key

Tesserach Vault is too expensive

Very resilient army

CSM

Chaos Marines good stuff: Abbadon, Predators, Havocs, Dark Apostle, Warp smith, Marine troops, Cultists, Chosen, Terminators w/ Warp Time, Berserkers, Warp Talons, Raptors, Maulerfiends, Defilers, Kharne, Magnus,Typhus, Nurglings

Huron not that great. Cypher is ok. Possessed are meh. Mutilators are not that good. Forge Fiends are better but still just ok

Chaos Knights > Lord of Skulls

Magnus is beast

Cultists probably best troops especially w/ Abbadon

Berserker hype is real

Hide in MEHTAL BAWKSES

Demons

Demon good stuff: Princes hiding like little girls, Skarbrand, Khorne and Slaanesh, Tzeentch heralds on discs, Epidermus

Fatey not as good as before. LoC is ok.

Blue Horror split is still good

Reece: "Nurglings are one of the best units in the game"

Interesting they say Daemon princes hide like little girls when they have 10 wounds. The csm prince is the one with 8 wounds that can hide.

Actually the little girl part was me, but it was towards the end of the 6 hour stream so I might have made a mistake on CSM vs regular daemon princes.

(1) Uh, what's considered 'base weapon'? Pete Foley dismissed a previous Warhammer Facebook staff answer that models already had base weapons considered in their profile. You answer seems to mean that a Stormsurge is only 180 before changing weapons... I hardly believe so. Looking forward for that spreadsheet!
(2) I know that Wyches have that. Which other units have that too? Didn't see people commenting on anything similar.
(3) And I've seen people commenting that Primaris Marines are even worse than then. Pretty ironic that the 2 new factions aren't even close to the top
(4) Erm, how? Now everyone can repeat overwatch as long as you aren't locked in combat by any of the declaring chargers. If Tau join forces in overwatching, the helpers won't be able to overwatch for themselves later. Frankly, For The Greater Good isn't that fluffy for Tau at all. I'd rather get something else than 'super'-overwatch.
(5) Eldar as bottom 5? VERY hard to believe. Daemons too...
(6) Crisis suits armies are very expensive now. Kroot? I rather grab Firewarriors for +2p/model. Sniper Drones are awful (no mortal wounds on to wound of 6+ like imperial snipers).
(7) We'll see. It was a well-liked ability by the community, including myself. This is even crucial for the short ranges of most suit weapons
(8) It's hardly worth using even one now. Needed a nerf, but I think it was a bit too much.

Saying don't use unit A cause B is better is kind of an indication that the playtesting/balancing failed, no?

Anyway, the CSM one can only buff himself in my Deamon army and loses Quicksilver Swiftness. I mean sure, but that doesn't make it less annoying that they made the Daemon one targetable. (And took deep strike away once it finally became reliable)

"Wraithlords way better. "

How??? They degrade with wounds taken, they can't move and shoot without penalty, the most iconic tougness 8 model is now T7, has the same durability as a rhino.

One of the best looking models in the whole range of 40k is now just an ornament :(

One thing from the general stuff in the notes. Are you sure that you do not need to include the default wargear of units in points calculation? Rules say: 'simply add together the points values of all your models, ad well as the wargear they are equipped with to determine your army's total points value'.

Hey guys, sorry I didn't answer sooner, here.

Few responses for you all:

@Davou

Yeah, sure! Orks are amazing in 8th ed. We will have a live bat rep tomorrow at 5pm PST on our Twitch Channel for my fellow Ork players: https://www.twitch.tv/frontlinegaming_tv

@Vector

Just add the base unit cost+wargear.

Spreadsheet will be out, soon. Just be aware, it isn't like, mega spectacular or anything, haha, just something I whipped up that helps us out for our own lists.

@skarsol

Well, no, we're expressing our opinions on unit strengths which you all are free to disagree with of course. I have no doubt that we missed things you all will pick up on and educate us about once you all get to play a bunch of games.

@humanas

You are free to disagree of course, friend. For me, in 6th and 7th we used them almost never. In 8th, I find myself using them all the time, they are great. Yes, Wraithlords of degrading profiles but in the context of 8th ed, they are a great choice for Eldar. If you compare them to 7th it is not a contextual comparison and won't really give you a good picture. I suggest trying them out in a few games and then deciding for yourself. For me, I love using them and find them to be an excellent unit. YMMV.

@lord_blackfang

I think terrain is very relevant, but I suppose that depends on your perspective. You need lots of LoS blocking terrain first and foremost in this edition, and beyond that, use the advanced terrain rules, they're a lot of fun and add a lot to the game, IMO.

@grnsknz

Base model cost+wargear. It's not too complex, really. Just add up your dudes with their gear. Most Sargent style models are a free upgrade too, by the way. Some folks are confused on that one.

@Rippy

Sorry, cannot answer those questions =(

@Alpharius

Why do you guys think terrain isn't good or useful? I honestly do not see what the issue is. We really enjoy the terrain rules and have found them to be quite impactful (in a positive way) on the game.

For terrain, I think most people don't play with full BLOS terrain. It's all ruins and forests and such that you can peak through. Because of that, going to 50% obscured and the lack of an intervening models rule means that most tables are a shooting gallery.

Frontline Gaming - 25% Off Black Friday Sale! @ 2017/06/05 21:47:40

Post by: Reecius

Fair enough. Yeah, we've learned that you absolutely must have LoS blocking terrain in this edition. Like, you HAVE to.

If you use GW terrain, block out the bottom level windows, that helps out a lot. You can also use ITC Terrain which has tons of LoS blocking pieces.

Terrain isn't bad in 8th or the terrain rules aren't bad, I should say, they are just different. I really like them, personally. They make movement very important (assuming you use LoS blocking terrain).

Hey Reece, thnx for taking the time to answer! I will be using my Wraithlords in a few days and I really hope you are right, because I really love that model!

I am not quite sure I read the point costs correctly. The way I see it is that when building an army, you add the cost of every model and the cost of ALL wargear (nothing is free). But this way many things dont really make sense. Two easy examples are angelus boltguns costing more than plasma pistols and power fists costing the same as t.hammers. Things get even more whacky comparing models and wargear from different armies or comparing power levels and point costs. I must be doing something wrong!

Stacks of cargo crates are helpful and large chemical tanks and that sort of thing. I think a lot of the Shadow War terrain or Mantic's stuff would do the trick too.

@humanas

Happy to help!

Yeah, the points costs for weapons aren't meant to be compared to one another across books and such and sometimes, they just don't make sense when compared to other stuff. Instead of looking at it that way, I would suggest looking at the way the unit with the kit works on the table. I know it is a bit confusing but it all works just fine IME on the table.

I loved Wraithlord, myself. Really enjoyed playing them. I liked Flamers, Shuriken Cannons and the Sword. Made them very effective and multi-purpose models. But yeah, base cost+kit.

@Davou

Awesome! Yeah, it should be good fun =) ANd thanks, would be happy to have a beer with you sometime.

@Yodhrin

I didn't write the terrain rules, friend =) I am just trying to help explain what we have learned.

@BrianDavion

I didn't really mention bottom tier too much, I did say I thought Craftworld Eldar out of the gates are weaker (although still playable for sure and I bet you all will find combos I missed). But, the top armies?

Hmm, strictly my opinion, but the top 5in no particular order:
1.) Harlequins
2.) Tyranids
3.) Orks
4.) Dark Eldar
5) Tie between Chaos Space Marines and Space Marines

But that is just me, the armies are all pretty solid. AdMech is killer, Scions are SUPER good, lol, like, maybe too good. The game in general is just more fun and more even between factions now, IMO. I look forward to seeing the meta develop, though when you all get your hands on it!

What is the process for determining random damage? Do I roll for every unsaved wound, or do I roll before firing, and apply the result to the weapon? In the case of the latter, do I roll for each firing weapon?

Yeah, dude. Call us and we can get a time to show you how to play, probably on the weekend. You in San Diego? We should probably just schedule a learning day, period.

@CthululsSpy

Good question! So, damage is different now than it used to be. You roll to hit, then to wound, defender chooses who takes the wound then takes armor/inv saves. Failed saves generate damage. You then roll for damage per model, then take any FnP style saves if you have them.

Does that make sense?

Good question! So, damage is different now than it used to be. You roll to hit, then to wound, defender chooses who takes the wound then takes armor/inv saves. Failed saves generate damage. You then roll for damage per model, then take any FnP style saves if you have them.

Does that make sense?

Yes, it does. Thank you for your response.
I don't suppose you know what's coming in the pipeline? We've seen a new primaris tank, what else is coming up?

Reece: Watching your Ork/CSM game and you charged your Gorkanaught into the Daemonettes and then you let them go first due to Quicksilver Swiftness. My reading of the rule seems to indicate you get to pick the first charging unit to fight, then you trade activations as long as there are more units with Quicksilver. Am I reading it wrong or were you just being nice?

Quicksilver Swiftness really only seems to matter in the 2nd round of combat. In round 1, you either charged (and thus go first anyway) or got charged, in which case you get to trade off, which only really changes things if there are multiple melees going on. It's nice, but not as cool as it sounds initially (to me), especially with Fall Back.

Edit: Someone just called you out on it and you read the rule on the stream but didn't really *read* the rule.

"If the enemy has units that have charged, or [irrelevant], then alternate choosing [...] starting with the player whose turn is taking place."

Yeah, fair play. I see the confusion. I will check on that one.

We've been playing it as units with a rule like that always swing first, regardless of anything other than another unit with a similar rule.

I will get us some clarification, though.

Here's the rule as written:

Units with this ability always fight first in the Fight phase, even if they didn't charge. If the enemy has units that have charged, or that have a similar ability, then alternate choosing units to fight with, starting with the player whose turn is taking place.

So if the Daemonettes get charged by 2 units, player who charged picks 1 unit and attacks. Then the Daemonettes go. Then the last unit that charged goes. Seems pretty clear.

Reece have you posted any videos with other Ork lists? I think I could run that Kan wall but I really like battlewagons, trukks, bikes, Manz, mobs of boyz.. I mean.. something with some serious meat to it. Those really are stunning though. Would've like to have seen the Chaos models in better detail. I can't actually remember where I saw your kan army in full detail but they're pretty sweet.

YMMV

Here is a few examples...

Named characters. You never pay points for any of their items. Kharne is 173 points, that's all you pay. You don't pay for his axe or plasma pistol. Same with Lysander for Imp fists, you don't pay for his stormshield etc.

wile a chaos Marine Daemon Prince is 146 Base. He comes with Talons and the Sword. One set of talons is free. The sword is 42. So really the DP cost is 188 "base". You can upgrade his weapons though for different points. If you upgrade or change, you only pay his model cost of 146+ the cost of the new item.

CthuluIsSpy wrote:What is the process for determining random damage? Do I roll for every unsaved wound, or do I roll before firing, and apply the result to the weapon? In the case of the latter, do I roll for each firing weapon?

You roll to hit, then roll to damage. Opponent rolls to save. Then you roll for how many wounds done.

So lets say you had 12 shots and hit with 6. Then you roll your 6 dice to wound. You get 4 wounds. Each shot is d3 damage. So the opponent makes the saves vs the 4 wounds you did. Every one he fails, a single model takes d3 damage. Key point is SINGLE model. Even if he rolled 0 saves and you rolled 4d3 and got 12 wounds, you are only killing a max of 4 guys (if they are all marines or such)

Wow, Reecius, thanks for all the work you guys have put in!
And thanks MORE for giving us your two cents on how you think all the factions will be faring.

I noted for the Necrons one that you guys thought Heavy Destroyers and Warrior blocks were the way to go for anti-vehicle.
Heavy D's I can understand, but Warriors? Gauss as a rule is gone now, so just wondering what the reasoning behind that one might be?

And I want to like Illuminor Szeras and Anrakyr the Traveler, but their lack of a Dynasty keyword means they have zero transport options (not allowed to use Monoliths, Night Scythes, or Ghost Arks unless you've got the <Dynasty> keyword). Vargard Obyron can't take them with his Ghostwalk Mantle, and the Veil of Darkness has been removed, so they can't use that either... all they can do is footslog. Not looking so great.

(also, did you guys notice Imotekh the Stormlord's profile lists him as Leadership 9? Lowly Warriors and Scarabs have a higher leadership value than the (currently available) highest ranking Necron in the galaxy?? That's gotta be a typo, right?)

And Frankie is an awesome opponent, very fun to play. He and I let each other to take bakes in practice a lot, in tournament play neither of us do it.

@Rippy

Yeah, sorry =/

@Skotts

You are very welcome!

Yeah, Warriors when buffed up will hit on 2's, and are Rend -1. Against most vehicles they will wound on a 5, so the damage really piles up in rapid fire range. You may find other tactics come to the forefront for anti-vehicle tactics but that worked for us in our test games.

I think you aren't understanding how the Keyword system works, which is totally understandable. Say you take a detachment of Necrons, you can give them all the same Dyansty keyword unless they already have one. Does that make sense?

Yes, the Stormlord LD thing I think is a typo, lol, we were laughing about that one, too.

@Thread

So, after doing some poking around I believe the reading you fellas have of Quicksilver Swiftness is RAI. Good catch, guys!

Ha, we've got spreadsheets upon spreadsheets over in the Necron thread. Buffed warriors turned out to be worse at shooting at T8 vehicles point-for-point than unbuffed conscripts, and worse than buffed conscripts against T7. It feels pretty dumb.

I think skoffs point is that Anrakyr and Szeras don't have the <Dynasty> faction keyword, so can't pick a dynasty. Because all the necron transports say something like "set up <Dynasty> infantry", RAW means they can't use any of the transports. At a guess it's an oversight, but it's hard to know for sure.

@Eylio

Haha, yes, conscripts can be quite good but I think if you apply the reality of model positioning to the equation you can't get enough in position, LoS and range to actually leverage their numbers at maximum efficiency.

In our games, we found that Warriors often go in to position to kill things with weight of fire due to a number of things such as resilience, etc. It's not just pure offensive output in a vacuum (but I am sure you know this).

If you want to take on the world with your Conscripts, I wish you well =)

I will look into the lack of a Dynasty keyword topic. I believe they can still ride in a transport due to being Necrons as they share that Keyword but we will see.

@Davou

I will look into that one, too. RAW to me is pretty clear but I think the RAI was meant to say that sometimes you reroll some of the dice, sometimes you reroll all of them based on the rule letting you reroll dice. But, I will find out for sure.

Will you be uploading the reports on youtube?
Also, do you accept player feedback for play testing? I'm noticing necrons missing their more iconic methods for getting around the table, such as monolith summoning (you used to be able to bring models to its gate) and the veil of darkness. In addition, I noticed that the hyperphase sword and the voidblade have the same profiles yet different points costs. Is that an oversight?

@CthululsSpy

I am not like, in charge of play testing or anything like that. I can do my best to try and bridge the gap but I do not write the rules or anything.

As for points costs on weapons, when compared to one another, or between books, they won't make sense as that is not how their price was determined. I can't go beyond that with explaining things but I can say that they methodology to determine their cost was done an an individual basis on a number of factors, not necessarily based on a comparison to a like item. Try to assess it based on the context of the units that can take them.

Its actually a little more complicated than that. Overlords can take either hyperphase swords or voidblades, but they both have the same profile, and voidblades are more expensive. There's no reason to take the voidblade over the sword with the current stats. It's rather curious.

At the moment, the wording for the Monolith, Night Scythe, and Ghost Ark all say they can only move infantry with the <Dynasty> faction keyword (eg. "setup any number of <DYNASTY> INFANTRY on their tomb world" or "Ghost Ark can transport 10 <DYNASTY> INFANTRY models"). For some of the named HQ, like Zahndrekh or Orikan, no prob, they've got a Dynasty faction keyword in their profile already (Sautekh), so they can use them with zero issue. For things like Warriors or the generic HQ with the <Dynasty> faction keyword in their dataslate, okay, cool, so they just take on whatever Dynasty you want, eg. Sautekh, or RandomSpaceEgyptianName and they're fine to use it. But for Anrakyr, Szeras, and Praetorians, they lack ANY Dynasty faction keyword in their info. It only says "Necrons". RAW, it appears they can't use ANYTHING to get around. For Praetorians it's not so bad, they're pretty fast. But for the other two it's making it a lot more difficult to warrant taking them if they have no choice but to slowly walk up the table.

*sigh*
Sorry, just a little frustrated. I realize everyone is having issues, too, though. Those new codex can't come soon enough...

Battle report outcome spoiler:

Spoiler:
For all the people wondering why I was bemoaning the Necron's anti tank and how pointless reanimation rolls seemed to be - that battle report was the reason why. I don't think Frankie had a good list at all, but even with maxed out AT, that game would've been over one turn later, tops, and Reece could've taken a harder army for Necrons too. @Cthulu's Spy

Ah, nice catch then! Will take note of that, buddy.

@MLaw

Yeah, I tried every permutation of Orks I could think of. I prefer Speed Freaks, love me some Trukk Boyz, but as of now I think that pure Speed Freaks is a weaker way to play Orks but still very good as Orks are so good. I tried running all Elite Orks and it worked quite well, too.

Horde Orks is amazingly good. As you all have seen, even pure Kan Wall is solid. Orks are just good.

@Humanas

Good question. That is a big adjustment. If you surround a vehicle, unless it can move over enemy units (Fly keyword, for example) it is stuck, lol. And, the passengers cannot get out. It is pretty crappy when this happens. In testing, I surrounded a Land Raider full of Assault Centurions with Hormagants and it couldn't shoot, move or let out its occupants for 3 turns. Calgar had to run over and kill the Gants to get them off of the Land Raider.

That takes some getting used to.

@Skoffs

Yeah, that is a weird one, I will see if I can get an answer for that ASAP. I would say for now though, off the cuff just allow them to ride in a Transport. I would guess that they should have a Dynasty keyword and it was an error of omission.

That is frustrating though, I agree.

And yeah, that game was rough. I think Frankie was a little rusty with Crons, honestly. In our previous games they were very tough, and the fights very close. That was our first blowout and unfortunately it was on camera =(

@Axisofentropy

That is correct.

@Eylio

I feel your frustration, but I wouldn't worry too much. In our games, Crons do well, they can struggle with vehicle armies, though as you saw. But, to be fair, a lot went wrong. I seized the initiative, Frankie flubbed a lot of early rolls, etc. That wasn't the best list either, IMO, and things went south. We'll play more Crons, they're quite good! Don't lose heart, friend.

@MLaw

Yeah, the Chaos army, particularly going first, would do very well against my Astra Militarum list.

So the question didn't really get answered but I guess it got answered but I'll ask again:

If a transport is locked in combat and the occupants have room to get out, CAN they? Meaning if my Rhino of Berzerkers is not surrounded, it was just bumped by another Rhino or something, can the Berzerker's leave the Rhino at the start of my move phase even though the Rhino is stuck in combat with another Rhino?

@Cthulu's Spy

Yes, lol, Mariana forgot to change the text

And sure, the vehicles are quite good. We will play more of them.

@Andysonic

Ah, sorry, didn't catch that bit.

If the vehicle is in combat but there is space to get out, yes, you can. But remember, you first disembark the unit from the vehicle (all models must be within 3") and they cannot be within 1" of enemy models. Then they can move, etc. So, it just depends on how much the vehicle is surrounded.

You have to be very mindful of this when barreling up the table with your Zerkers (or whatever) as the canny player can deny you the ability to get out fairly easily if you position them poorly.

Ohh this is an interesting question!

I'm especially interested in death guard, and if they are viable with their upcoming codex! I'm having trouble to find answers to tyranid swarms currently (I get overwhelmed after exocrines kill all my heavy hitters)

You can email me with a question if you have one. But I will try to be more diligent in chat, haha, I can't really manipulate the chat box while playing though, we have to have someone on hand to moderate it which we did not last night. Thanks for the feedback, though.

Thanks for running a mixed Ork list.. I've been extremely curious about many of the units in that list. Would've been nice to see a BW in there but that's a lot of units I enjoy taking so it'll be great to watch them smash the fish'eds

Are the Tau's Devilfish and Hammerheads viable? I built my Tau a loooong time ago so most of my collection is those, suits, warriors, and piranhas (back when they sold the bundle of 5 ).. oh and Vespids :/ Not sure those guys are worth taking either..

Yeah, Orks are so damn good in 8th, you are spoiled for choice.

The Battlewagon is absolutely awesome. I run it with a Deff Rolla and it hits on 2's in melee, haha. Typically I stick Lootas, Flash Gitz, Tank Bustas or Burna Boyz in it and that combo of the two is savage. However, there are plenty of other ways to play it.

Devilfish are solid. They put out decent firepower and get you around the table. With Breachers they perform well.

Hammerheads with Longstrike are solid. I prefer the Ion Cannon but we have ours modeled with a Rail Cannon.

Really confused on what exactly the issue was on the big guns.. I know generally what you guys were hung up on but I am not sure what the specific issue was.

I will say though.. that unless GW has dropped the golden rule.. you guys should have D6'd that debate. I know you probably think you were right but it was really bad form IMO to insist that it be played that way when you both openly admitted there was confusion on the issue and that it needed clarification.. just my .02.

@MLaw

The issue with the Big Guns only mattered really due to Kill Points and how to actually shoot the unit(s). It was really confusing in how it was written, neither of us knew the correct interpretation and honestly didn't even have 2 options to dice it off over. And, moreover, that wasn't the point honestly, we're trying to teach folks how to play. And what was bad form? Trying to move things forward? I didn't want to get bogged down in a debate on a live show is all and if yo know Pablo like I do, lol, he loves to debate so it would have never ended. I didn't give a hoot about being right or winning the game, I was more concerned with keeping the show moving forward and just coming up with a ruling we could work with (which, by the way, was in my opponent's favor, not mine). I understand what you're saying but a show were two folks sit and debate a vague rule is not exactly entertaining, haha. That said, thank you for your feedback.

Because the Disgusting Resilience is taken vs every wound suffered, it means that it's more stable than another saving throw. If you take 3 wounds, you are likely to only suffer 2.
It also can work against mortal wounds. This is huge.

I ran a test list with my buddy Pat where I brought 9 DPs of Nurgle an Be'Lakor. Hilarity ensued as I was spamming smite and facerolling his marine bikes. We played 3 games in a row and I tabled him 3 times in a row.
The DP is one of the all-stars in the CD codex (which has many lackluster units).

My point was, historically, when there is an area of contention in rules, and you cannot reach a mutually agreed on conclusion, you roll a d6. For me watching the video, you were basically "it's my way or the highway" about how to interpret it.. Take that as you will, I'm an outsider looking in here. I would say though I would've knocked your sportsmanship for that if we were playing in a RTT.. if that's even still a thing

Alas, I play Slaanesh, so 10 wounds is just 10 wounds. Pricing/statting the DP as if it always has DR is a bad job. Perhaps the gifts needed to be equipment with a different price for each god.

@Crimson Devil

You will probably never see a tournament run on Power Levels. I could be wrong for sure, maybe in a learning league or something, but Power Levels are for like, casual games, Apocalypse, etc. For matched play it will be points.

Now, that said, we are planning an Apoc game with really big armies and will use Power Level for that where it speeds things up and keeps it roughly equal which would be super fun.

@MLaw

I understand what you're saying, and agree. I would never do that in a tournament, haha, for the purpose of having an educational and fun stream, I was just trying to move things along. As stated, Pablo will debate on and on because he enjoys it and knowing him, I simply wanted to move things along. And as I said, the ruling I offered up was in his favor, lol, so I was boning myself just to get things moving along so we could get on with the game.

Hey no worries.. I have seen myself on video and felt like I sounded like a raging donkey-cave when watching it but it wasn't where we were in context.. so like I said I was merely looking in and see it outside of the reality of the situation.. The fact that you guys are doing these videos.. even though they are basically commercials for your brand, they are also helpful in a broader community-driven way.. and you're answering questions etc etc.. So I'm inclined to believe that this really just came across as worse than it is. Just having been in the situation where friends with a TO or was an Outrider (when that was a thing) would throw their weight around on shady rules interpretations or those really nitpicky interpretations that nets someone 1 extra kill but makes them look like a total d-bag.. it's something I look for. Again, I truly don't think that's you.. you guys have been awesome with the QA and everything.. just giving you a complete picture of my experiences so you don't think I'm just trying to start stuff.. I have enjoyed the videos and the insight so the last thing I want to do is sound ungrateful or whatever.

Anyway.. I hope we're cool there.. I did want to ask... Initially the prospect of teleporting a blob of Boyz onto my opponents head seemed exciting. Watching it in practice and thinking about it a bit more, it really does seem like more of a late game counterpunch or maybe last minute objective grab kind of thing.. Do you think there are many instances where doing an early jump like you did might legitimately work in your favor?

Hey could you answer this:

Let's say I have a Berzerker model with a Chainsword and a Chainaxe. This model has 2 attacks. The Chainsword says I make one additional attack with this weapon, but does not specify that I have to fight with it to get the attack (this is the same wording on the Power Scourge that makes it so nuts). Does this mean that I can split my attacks to have two Chainaxe attacks and one Chainsword attack, or does this mean I have to split my attacks to have one Chainaxe attack and two Chainsword attacks? This distinction is very important because it could mean having a free attack. If that is the case, there's no reason not to take both melee weapons.

Post by: JohnnyHell

The text says each time you fight, you get an additional attack with the Chainsword. So you could do all your attacks with another weapon, but the bonus attack would have to be resolved with the Chainsword.

Totally cool, friend =) No worries.

The early jump works if you can actually kill what you're going after but flying up the table for a laugh obviously worked out quite poorly, haha.

@Andysonic

You get 2 Axe attacks and 1 Sword attack and yes, you go double melee as the optimal choice in most cases (IMO).

I understand not resetting player points because they are in a competition, and good players in 7th ed will still be good players in 8th. But not resetting army points is an odd decision, you obviously track them separately, so you could blow them out without too much issues. Keeping them muddies the water of the 8th ed meta by leaving a hangover from 7th. Like marine armies will be overvalued due to gladius, and tau and eldar by taudar comps, etc. Maybe another site will track just the 8th ed stuff.

No, lol. I guess we just got used to it with AoS. People coming to the game new will know them as whatever they are called, so the Drukhari (or whatever) will become the norm in time. Might as well get used to it.

@Grimgold

In a vacuum, I understand what you're saying but in reality folks invested the time, energy and money into earning those faction points based on a trust we'd honor them. We can't take that away simply to have a purely 8th ed meta for one season, it would break trust. And, it is still an even competition in the sense that folks had equal access to the same stuff the entire time. The race itself changed mid-event but it did so for everyone.

Its horribly written, but the answer has to be that the grot gunners are a separate unit from their big gun. Because in the 'Artillery' ability, it talks about a 'Grot Gunner' unit, something that simply can't exist unless the gunners and gun form separate units. Plus, since there's no longer a general mixed toughness rule in the game, if the guns and gunners were part of the same unit, you'd have no idea what Toughness to use for the unit (as they lack any ability telling you what Toughness to use like with Grot oilers and such).

Okay, if we go by that, here's how I read it. You have a unit of 3 Big Gunz: a kannon, a lobba, and a zzap gun. When you deploy this unit, it then explodes into 6 units: a kannon, a lobba, a zapp gun, and 3 units of 2 Grot Gunners. (Hope you don't roll kill points)

Take Cover says you can only shoot Grot Gunners if they're the closest unit, so they effectively have the Character rule?

Artillery says a Big Gunz can be fired by any close Grot Gunners. Okay, that makes sense.

Now, the Hellforged Artillery Battery has the same Crew rule, but it incorporates the Take Cover rule also, so we're good there.

The Artillery rule gets stupid though. A Rapier can only fire its ranged weapon of "a friendly LEGION CSM Crewman model from the same unit is within 3" Well, there's no Crew in that Rapier unit anymore cause it split into separate units. I guess we have two different definitions of "unit" here. Which then leads me to ask if you only get 1 kill point for killing the big "unit" or you get 1 for each of the split out "units".

It gets even more fun with the Daemon Unleashed rule. That says if "all CSM Crewmen in the same unit are slain" the gun goes berzerk. Well, if you have 3 guns, and 3 crewman units, does a gun go berzerk when the 2 crew that were initially assigned to it die or when all 6 die?

It wouldn't be the first time that the guys writing IA rules copy-pasted something from the main studio stuff but didn't really understand what it said (and then screwed it up for their version).

There are two pretty big issues if you try to play the crew and the gun as the same unit:

1) What Toughness do you use? There is no mixed Toughness anymore unless the unit specifies in its datasheet (such as with Ork helper grots).
2) If that's the case then the rule saying you can't target the crew unless it is the closest target doesn't make any sense...because firers can't target specific models within a unit in 8e.

So IMHO with the Rapier Battery, its much easier to play it like the Big Gunz, and just treat the crew as a separate unit. Then you just have to assume that when their rules talk about the 'same unit', they're referring to the parent unit they were purchased under (before splitting into individual units.

And yes, if you're playing that each crew unit and each gun unit splits into a separate unit (which I believe to be the only correct way to do it for the Orks), then each of those units is definitely worth a KP if destroyed.

I don't think its so bad though, because for the most part you have to kill the Big Gunz before you can target the crew, and since you have to target each gun as a separate unit, it can make putting exactly enough firepower to kill them a little difficult to gauge in a single turn. In other words, I've found them to be pretty durable unless the enemy is really gunning for them. You just also need to give them other targets that they have to kill ASAP or else they're going to lose!

Ork big gunz previously were only targetable by templates I thought.. in fact.. I don't even remember them having stats tbh.. I was fairly sure they worked like WHFB Cannons and whatnot..

Are the actual artillery pieces themselves intended to be shooting targets? I don't have the rules yet (stupid warstore :( ) but it seems strange. I have fond memories of strange shenanigans created from older editions artillery crew rules. It's hard to picture how different these are or what the thoughts behind this possibly new direction might be.

Not only can the guns be fired at, they protect the crew from being targeted at all as long as the gun is around. Plus, they can fight in close combat!

Actually, I just looked in the older versions.. previously the big guns had a unit type of artillery. The artillery unit type defined all of the interactions that these newer rules seem to be causing problems with. Are those unit types no longer there?

There's are no unit types, just keywords.

And the problems you're reading about are really just because one word was written wrong/confusingly for Orks. You fix that, and it's all fine.

The Imperial Armor is a bit more of a problem, but frankly I've already found a metric ton of typos/issue in the IA indexes already. They seem super rushed.

Ugh.. that's unfortunate.. I'm on pre-order for the Xenos IA :/

I understand the idea of going to keywords but leaving out unit types seems a bit like tossing the baby out with the bath water. Things like Cavalry, Jetbikes, Infantry, Tanks, Walkers.. It just seems like having specific rules for each of these unit types is part and parcel of 40k.. and really GW games as a whole. Ah well.. I'm sure it'll work out without them once the bugs are ironed out. At least GW is getting TONS of playtesting/proof-reading for their codex rough drafts.. All of that stuff will be hunted down by the time they're ready to roll into a codex format and it'll be copy paste..

@Reecius: Did you get an answer on how that Ork artillery is supposed to work? The Hellforged Rapier Battery uses similar verbiage and I have no clue what their intention was.

Is Reece still in denial about Tau being weak? I've watched every single battle report I can get my hands on as of now and the Tau have a loss rate approaching 90% at this point. I want to put GW's claim of a more balanced and fair edition to the test and see if they will fix the Tau who are definitely in need of some changes. Or do I have to wait for like 5 years? Of the Tau wins I've seen a good amount of them come down to rules errors in their favor or the Tau player and opponent admitting they just got lucky.

I don't really think any other army I've seen seems too strong or weak. Except perhaps the Orks might be a little weak alongside the Tau and the Necrons might be too cost effective.

Is it because the Tau are really that weak or because players can't rely on Riptide spam anymore and haven't adapted yet?

I've watched and read most of them in depth. The early ones were obviously failing to adapt. However as time is going in and people are math hammering out the best units to take lists are improving. However even with units that are better in. 8th and hyper competitive 8th Tau builds are barely getting any wins against average joes list. The only good units in our codex are gun drone spam, commander spam, and fusion blaster spam. All of these are jokes compared to what other armies can do. Except drone spam that is legit crazy and if the rest of the index is buffed might need to be toned down. List diversity at the casual level has tanked since for even a small chance to win Tau need to take their best stuff.

The insane costs on the majority of our weapons aren't helping. 3 crisis suits are less effective than a commander. 2 broadsides cost way more than a land raider and with heavy rail rifles our second strongest gun will be unable to significantly wound the land raider let alone stand a chance to kill it. Low ballistic skill no good markerlight effects and low firepower for insane costs. Our feared ability to flee combat and shoot is junk like I predicted and rarely is a factor since we die so easy.

Tau lists need to be hyper specialized to hope to win a battle. Other armies don't.

FLG has a financial incentive to stay on GW's good side by not panning entire armies at launch. They're helping to drive the hype train. Plus, as playtesters, saying a whole army sucks is kind of like saying you didn't do your job well. Easier to say "oh, you guys just haven't figured out how to use them yet!"

@Thread

Wow, sorry I missed this guys, too much to keep up with. And T'au weak? Lol, what? They were on the top table at the BAO and did very well in general at the event, players were winning the game on turns 1 and 2 with strong T'au lists. There are some weak units like the Riptide (which we've been saying since day 1) but they army in general is great. Lots of viable units, my only complaint is that the dang Suit Commander is too appealing and incentivizes spamming them. But in general, no, T'au are not weak and the data shows this to be true. They also pretty much hard counter flyer spam (although that is now much less of a concern).

That brings up another question for me - the timeline is supposed to have advanced about 100 years - are Creed and the others still mentioned to be alive and kicking (with new adventures) or are have they been somehow separated from the actual passage of time and you're supposed to be playing "historical" versions?

During the release week (through January 11th, 2018), we’ve got the individual kits at a discount! So grab those while they’re hot. If you’d rather just get a bundle set, you can do that to and we have a variety to choose from up to the ITC Standard Set with Mat, which is multiples of each building and the Field Base Mat, and is how we use this set in our games and events.

Enjoy and happy gaming!

Grab your copy of Forgebane, here! https://store.frontlinegaming.org/warhammer-40000/pre-order/

The exciting new Forgebane boxed game is here featuring a new Cryptek and Imperial Knight Armiger model!

Across the galaxy a fresh conflict is coming to a head between man and alien – or rather between factions that once laid claim to those terms, but have become entities far stranger and more deadly than beings of flesh and blood. Battle lines are being drawn on Amontep II, a planet rich in the mysterious substance that once held the tides of the warp at bay, and a hundred worlds besides. The Adeptus Mechanicus have become aware of a strange mineral bounty that lies within their domain, and are going to extreme lengths to secure it – but the Necrons who have long slumbered under Amontep II are rising. The stage is set for a war that could define the future of the Great Rift, and perhaps even the Imperium itself…

Forgebane is a great-value boxed set containing 2 armies split across the forces of the Adeptus Mechanicus – cybernetically augmented post-human soldiers of the Machine God – and the Necrons – an ancient, slumbering civilisation of soulless automata whose rousing is changing the face of the galaxy. You can use these miniatures to act out the scenarios described in the Forgebane book – 3 connected missions that recreate the desperate battle for Amontep II – and use them to expand your games of Warhammer 40,000. Included in the box:

Forgebane

A 40-page softback book containing:

– A New Awakening: the events of Forgebane – the discovery of blackstone deposits, and the savage battle between the Necrons and Adeptus Mechanicus to secure them;
– The Machine Cult: an overview of the Adeptus Mechanicus, and their constant crusade of acquisition which has led them to Amontep II;
– An Ancient Evil: a brief history of the Necrons, their own motivations regarding the mysterious blackstone, and the terror of their awakening;
– The Empire Beneath: a galactic map featuring the location of forge worlds, knight worlds, fallen forge worlds and Necron dynasties;
– Knight Worlds: describing the illustrious histories of the Imperial Knights, and introducing the Knight Armigers – long-legged walkers designed to strike hard and fast;
– Quarry Worlds: an overview of planets designated by the Imperium as Quarry Worlds – this also introduces the Necron Cryptek – once the grand vizier of the Necron courts, now degraded and dangerously insane;
– Detailed background information on each unit included in the box;
– A miniatures showcase featuring a beautifully painted examples of the miniatures in Forgebane.

Rules

– Atmospheric Conditions: rules which represent the industry-ruined atmosphere of Amontep II, including corrosive rains able to burn units and dust storms which reduce visibility;
– 3 Echoes of War missions, which can be linked together to form a small campaign echoing the narrative of Forgebane;
– Defenders of the Forge Worlds: rules for the included Adeptus Mechanicus miniatures. This includes 3 datasheets, Canticles of the Omnissiah and specific army abilities, as well as example colour schemes for the Ryza, Lucious, Metalica and Mars forge worlds, along with the heraldries of a House Raven Armiger Warglaive;
– The Dynastic Legions: rules for the included Necron miniatures. This includes 4 datasheets and specific army abilities, as well as example colour schemes for Novoth, Mephrit, Sautekh, and Nihilakh dynasties;
– Points values for every included miniature, for use in Matched Play;
– A fold-out sheet containing the core rules for Warhammer 40,000.

Miniatures

Necrons

– 1 Necron Cryptek, covered in ornate armour featuring intricate geometrical patterns and wielding a tall staff of light. His segmented cloak connects to a Canoptek Scarab, allowing for flight, and the included base features pieces of ruined Necron architecture;
– 1 set of 5 Necron Immortals, who can be armed with your choice of gauss blasters or tesla carbines;
– 1 set of 5 Necron Lychguard, who carry bulky weaponry including heavy-bladed warscythes, though some carry hyperphase swords and dispersion shields;
– 1 set of 3 Canoptek Wraiths, armed with vicious claws, transparticle beaners and particle casters, able to phase through terrain;
– 1 Necrons transfer sheet.

Adeptus Mechanicus

– 2 Armiger Warglaives, smaller than Imperial Knights but taller than most Imperial vehicles, they wield reaper chain cleavers, thermal spears and carapace-mounted heavy stubbers – the latter can be replaced with a meltagun;
– 1 set of 10 Skitarii Rangers, with a host of weapons including arc pistol, arc rifle, plasma caliver, transuranic arquebus, taser goad and arc maul, with options for an Alpha, the unit leader;
– 1 Tech-Priest Dominus, who comes with a volkite blaster, a macrostubber, an eradication ray, a phosphor serpenta and a power axe;
– 2 transfer sheets: an Adeptus mechanicus sheet and a specific Armiger Warglaive sheet.

Thanks for reading and happy gaming

The new Gothic Ruins terrain set is now available! https://store.frontlinegaming.org/terrain/itc-terrain-series/itc-gothic-ruins/

This terrain set is our newest in the ITC Terrain Series line of wargaming terrain. It is designed specifically to go on the Ruined City FLG Mat, but can easily be used on almost any of our mats. What makes this terrain series so cool is that it provides excellent coverage for your tables, is affordable and the kits are very easy to build and paint. This terrain is also very “playable.” What we mean by that is that it is easy to move models in and around the terrain so that it looks cool without inhibiting game play.

Take a look at this tutorial I wrote while making the above set of terrain for our studio! https://www.frontlinegaming.org/2018/06/01/hobby-tutorial-quick-and-easy-painting-of-the-gothic-ruins-itc-terrain-set/

This set also includes our biggest terrain piece, yet: the Gothic Ruins Cathedral. It’s MASSIVE and makes a great centerpiece for your table.

Per usual, we offer each kit individually and in bundle deals which save you money. Some of these bundles even come with the Ruinced City FLG Mat which means you get an entire themed table of terrain in one purchase! These kits are scaled for 28mm miniatures and are great for games such as Warhammer 40,000, Bolt Action, Horus Heresy, etc.

And remember, we offer FREE shipping for orders $99 and up within the continental USA!

Has anyone else ordered these? I bought 3 mats at the last sale, and was incredibly disappointed with the Tundra and Grasslands, which were just way too dark. Both had splotches of near black. The grasslands I felt should be aimed at matching typical lighter green static grass, but it was more a dark hunter green all over.

Sounds like they need better color profiling between the solvent printer and the rip, and a monitor profile based on the solvent printer's color range for the graphic designer's monitor (which should also be profiled and calibrated).

I have their Mars mat and it is AMAZING, however.

I've only seen two in person and I was put off by the art, personally. Though I don't recall the colour being off. Closer, higher-res pictures on their site could help immensely. Forking over that much money I'd like to be able to see what I'm getting. Deep Cut do this extremely well, even having a "25mm" circle placed on the close-ups for scale reference, etc.

You can always shoot questions my way, everyone =) Happy to help out.

@Bossk_Hogg

Sorry to hear you did not like the product. Did you reach out to us about it? Sometimes a mat does come out incorrectly but often there is a difference between the image on your screen and the actual product for a wide variety of reasons. For one, your monitor's settings and the fact it is back-lit will alter the colors, and during manufacturing we do have a degree of variance in both size and color which is unavoidable but typically minor.

If you shoot some photos our way we can see if they are outside normal manufacturing variability and if so we can work something our with you.

@judgedoug

Glad you like your mat!

@Elbows

Curious, what mat did you see and what did you not like about it? We have fantastic art and artists working for us, and as someone whose business it is to evaluate everything on the market, I say confidently that we put out some fantastic work.

However, personal preference is what it is and I am curious as to what specific things you didn't like?

Praise where praise is due! The Mars base mat is one of the best designs I have ever seen and I had to have it. I am quite tempting to pick up a 4'x4' and would immediately buy it (and several other designs) if you offered a 23 x 30 Kill Team compatible size.

I 100% recommend the Mars Base mat to anyone who is on the fence. It's on sale right now, so take the plunge, you won't regret it.

I've attached a couple pics of your Mars Base mat with some UAC (DOOM) themed terrain made out of Deadzone/Terrain that I finished up a couple weeks ago.

@Wolf_in_Human_Shape

Which mats are you curious about? If I have high res close-ups I will get them to you.

One of the few downsides to having as many mat designs as we do is that we don't always find them time to get the close-ups for each variation of each mat. However, if I can help I am happy to.

Like just a map of broken, cracked asphalt with random sewer grates? Urban Matz makes this, and thin mats OF sidewalk/concrete so you can place those on top for your own city block layout.

Honestly I personally want a city map with the streets at 45 degree angles to the mat edges, and streets arranged in such a way that there's no continuous LOS along any given road. I despise basically every city map that exists because they're all just grids.

Frontline Gaming’s Black Friday Sales is a go and we have some awesome savings for you!

It’s that time of the year! Time for turkey and family you may ask? No, you silly gamer. It’s time to save the monies on a huge Black Friday Sale! Frontline Gaming has some big discounts on FLG Mats and ITC Terrain!

Additionally, we have the ITC Orc Terrain back in stock! This popular set has been unavailable for an extended period of time, so we’re very happy to make it available for sale once again at these sale prices!

This sale runs through Cyber Monday, the 2nd of December, 2019. During these sales we sometimes experience longer than normal delivery times due to higher volume than we’re accustomed to. However, as we’ve invested in more manufacturing equipment along with the set up of our new facility in Nevada, we anticipate that this will not be an issue this year. But, just in case there are some snags, we issue the public announcement to set expectations appropriately.

Thank you so much for reading, and happy gaming from your friends at Frontline Gaming!

We don't have a trade in program at this point in time, although that isn't a terrible idea if we can sort out how to do it.

But, we will have conversion sets ready to go in August that you can lay on a 6x4' mat and play it as a 44x60" mat. That way you get both in case you want to play a game on the larger size.

yep. $150 of coupons and stuff all the companies have overstock on. It would be tempting to me if I had an interest in any of the partners on the box and that I'm pretty sure a lot of the "value" is coupon estimated value (save $50 on a $500 order!).

Still, interested to see what's in one just out of curiosity but just I already know there's very little in it I'd use just based off the names.

No more hours spent painting terrain, just glue it together and get your game on.

This terrain is available for a limited time at this low Black Friday sale price. Take advantage of it while it lasts. We will have more sets of Full Color Terrain coming in the future as well!

This sale runs through Cyber Monday, November 29th, 2021. Due to high volume of sales during Black Friday, please allow for an extended shipping time as we work through the orders. We go as fast as we can, but are not a huge company so we can fall behind during this time of the year. Thanks for your patience and your business!

Anyone know if something is amiss at Frontline Gaming? On their new online store my account is not recognized, their customer service phone number does not work, and they are not answering emails. Anyone else having trouble?
