Post by: JoeRugby

From the ashes of the Photobucket apocalypse rises my new thread

Thanks for checking it out

While there will be items on here from a variety of sci-fi manufactures, all are tied into the same 40k head cannon
e.g the Mantic warpath verse is a number of sectors south of the Segmentum Tempestus and west of the ultima segmentum founded by rouge traders.
There are Remnant fleets of Xenos (and sometimes human races) that were evicted from their planets by the Imperium during the great crusade.
Predators are still hunting anything they can, they love Catachan and hunting space marines.
Every now and again a strange person in a blue box shows up goes “nope” and leaves again.

I find I’m more productive/focused when I do a thread like this.

So these are things I’m working on/ have worked on

Albion Rifles Imperial Guard
“The Albion Rifles are a regiment from the united kolonies(there’s a reason its spelt with a K) of the Albion, unlike other regiments from Albion the Rifles recruit from Albion Prime, Icy Caledonia, the arid murphy’s world and the moon of Gwlad.”[/]

UK (mostly WW2) inspired imperial Guard
Spoiler:
.

Albion S.A.S
[i]“Who dares Wins"
“The S.A.S regiment has a heritage going back to the first colonisation of the Albion system and even Terra itself.
For decades before the dark they were the elite of Albion's military, and that's all that is still recorded of them just the initials a motto and barley two sentences.

No one knows what happened to them, many think they were discarded by the techno knights of the noble families during the dark.
When Guilliman brought the great crusade to the Albion and united the Colonies they were just a footnote in a militarum history textbook.
It wasn't until 1000 years later that they would be reformed.

Major David Stirling during Waaagh Mary, recognised the need for an elite Commando unit to perform the tasks high command would wait 11 years for the Astartes to arrive for, after a lot of arguing eventually Stirling got his own way.
Named because he remembered the motto from his days in the Scolar, the S.A.S performed lightning raids and assassinations crippling the Ork invasion leading to Albion's forces eradicating the greenskins before the Astartes arrived.

The legend restored it has only grown since."
Spoiler:

Got quite a few tanks that arnt in the pic to finish but I'm waiting on an airbrush purchase (got the cash saved just need to get one) before I do it.
I’m going to aim for the UK woodland camo look on them.

Deadzone Enforcers

I-pad armour on the standard (Mook) enforcers with the special characters in colourful armour matching who their based on.

Deadzone rebs

Tried to get them looking as individual as possible, so they’re a rag tag group. (Think serenity and Star Wars rebels)

Very Happy with how the Strider came out

Xenomorphs

This is all the Xenos i have, despite the poor effort by Prodos with the treatment of me as a backer the minis are fantastic.

It’s a shame the company is a bunch of lying T!”£$

Infinity PanO

Ultramarines

lots to do and add, but should have a big update with the DI boxed set.

Their all true scale btw (in 1/56 scale 7 foot would be 38mm and they would be taller if stood upright)

Vs primaris

My stance is that Primaris marines are just true scale marines in rules and proportions so I’m very happy with them being released.

I don’t mind that the Rhino looks small either as real APCs are on the small side too.

Deathwatch

Only Cassius so far but more will come, I’ve got Deathwatch overkill game and start collecting boxes to use to fill the role.

Thanks again for checking my thread out.

Please drop a comment if you like what you see or have any feedback, I really appreciate it and it helps keep be motivated.

Other project threads ill be bumbling about in shortly.

Inquisitor Diaries – Story and showcase thread for my minis and head cannon
Dark Millennium Tech support and the Virus – Mechanicus and Dark Mechanicus Project

Thanks for the side-by-side comparison. I really like the Primaris Marines, and like them even more now. Of course, my complete lack of interest in restarting 40K will save me from having to buy any...

Ultramarine Reinforcements

Finished 4 more ultramarines

Pretty happy with the knee pad checks

Conversions in progress

[b]Captain in gravis armour[b]

Can't decide if I should replace the sword with an Ultramarine Gladius and if I should get some of those leather tabard things to put over his crotch.

[b]Interceptor[b]

Not a fan of the stock poses so tried to get this one to look like he's jetted past something and is using his foot to do a hand break turn

Thanks for looking

Necromunda Orlock and an adventure in stripping

No not that stripping you filthy boy…..

With New-cromunda announced it was time for me to strip the paint off of my old necromunda minis.

Don't judge me!

Their really old

All to be stripped minis in a bath of detol to wash away my sins

I also finished off one of my favourite minis from Necromunda that I picked up last year.

I like to think I've got better at painting since I did the old mundo minis.

That ganger does look nice. I like the denim-and-leather look.

You're a brave man for showing your older paint jobs. I can hardly stand to even look at anything I did more than, say, 10 years ago. I look forward to seeing the updated models.

Great work on the ganger, and don't judge your old work too harshly, it's all progress to where you are today. Loving the Marine above, but really not liking the gun shields thing, just daft, but each to their own, you may convert me once your done.

Oh and thanks mate, I just spent far too long staring at a male ass to be comfortable now, need a manly man fix quick.

Brilliant job on that denim.

Thanks for the offer Dude but I'm after the wyrd pyromaniac, Kal jerico and Mad donna all of which are pretty rare and go for more on eBay than I'm willing to pay for them at the moment, if you've got any of them you want to get rid of id be a Douche not to encourage you to Evil bay them seen Kal and donna for for £40.....

I'm hoping GW bring some of them back with the reprint program

Joe’s first Plague marine

A slight break from painting smurfs but more DI.

Went with the usual green scheme but dirtied it up a lot, rust in the steel, lots of typhus corruption and (can't even say it so I can't spell it) oxide on the brass.

I've still got a Mad Donna in the blister pack, it's a bit dinged up, but I got it for about that price a couple years ago. I never got Kal Jericho, not sure of the pyro.

I'm at work right now and they have started to block imgur pics, so I can't give you feed back at the moment on the plague marine.

Really nice work throughout your recent stuff. Are the Ultras that light in hand, or is it the lighting? Nice old-school touch with the checks on the kneepad as well there.

I like the Orlock ganger as well. The red over their old scheme of white tabards adds interest to the scheme. It'll be good to see their resurrection.

Wow long time since I posted here and a long time since I finished a mini

First finished mini of 2018

The blight hauler is soo cute...

Where have I been

I went to the hobby meca last year.

Warhammer world is pretty epic, a must visit if you can get there

I’ve been doing bits of hobby but I just haven’t had the time to take pics and post here and also interact with other threads on here (I don’t feel right only posting my stuff wanting feedback and then not giving comments out in return)

I’ve also been trying to get some of my friends into the hobby with a softly softly approach was a pretty big deal for me as im quite private about my toy soldiers IRL

Thanks for reading here’s some Necromunda bases

Thanks for looking

House Escher Ganger

First of my House Escher done, I'm letting the girlfriend decide on the hair colour and the colour of any thing thats not armour. (more stealthy trying to get people involved in my hobby)

Decided to paint the ting on the belt like a lantern and then the OSL around it happy with how its come out on her bum and arm less so on the white tabard.

I would like to give the Escher Champions power sword Katanas, does anyone reading thins know where i could get some Good scale katanas ( sheathed and unsheathed)?

Thanks for all the kind words all, something less pretty this post

Plague marines & Zombies

These were mostly finished last year but I’ve put the finishing touches to them now.

Had a go at the white/bone armour and really liked it so my death guard will be a mix of Green and white armour.

This is chaos after all so the scheme should be a bit chaotic

Zombies done too

Brownstone building & End to my AvP saga

From TT combat, i bought it to so i didn't have to draft my own facia template for some buildings I'm going to scratch build.

I like it

I wish there were stairs in the interior but its nice, big, cheap and cheerful.

Also FINALY after almost 5 years I've got the last of my AvP kickstarter stuff

If your still missing stuff, i contacted their customer service email and missing item email address and eventually got through to a person then took 7 weeks for the order to process but its done!

Great looking Escher juve there. But why the deadly viper squad? Why not the cuddly Viper squad, or the not as toxic as a mamba but still really dangerous viper coalition?

Brownstone looks great too. I want to do a whole table like that, but I’ll probably be using the dust tactics buildings instead.

Painted the lines with watered down light grey then

Tidied the bricks up with a combination of sponge and drybrushing to recover the raised area with black then followed the same process with burnt umber again. The spongeing will help add a little texture to the MDF too

WIP Star Saga - Corporate Security

Nothing finished since the last post :(

Tried to knock out the corporate security guys from Star saga but only got to just after base coat stage.
Now I’ve put some paint on them I’m a lot happier with the amount of detail in the minis.

Aiming for a posh security look, white shirt and grey trousers, with black tactical gear.

Thanks for looking CnC appreciated

I didn't want to Thread Necro your other blog, but I really like those civilians you have lined up for the Kitty Booth, where did you find them? I'm playing in a Dark Heresy campaign and it's always hard to find unarmed models.

You've made a nice start on those models. They look like they'd work in any number of settings as well. Have you played the game? I pledged $1 to the kickstarter, but decided that I didn't need another game I probably wouldn't play. Now that I've finally gotten around to trying Dungeon Saga, I regret that decision.

I agree with Josh about being able to use those in lots of different genres.

I’ve stayed away from Mantic for some time. I keep seeing some great models from their lines, but also a few misses and the delays seem to continue from them. Until Mantic gets it all together I think I’ll keep away until the items hit retail.

How is the overall game experience? Is it smooth and intuitive? Or clunky because it’s trying too hard.

I'll have to look into that kickstarter, thanks for the info. I like the security guards a lot, the white shirts black armor scheme really 'pops' and screams 'private security', particularly the shoulder patches, they go a long way to completing the look.

Love the corporate security guards - great work! Lovely combination between being individually characterful and generic enough that they could fulfil a bunch of scifi roles. Particularly like the stubble / hair on the gent with no hat - makes him look very real.

Nice glow effect on the grid xenomorph. I've not played that game - has the poor bastard walked into a security field or something?

Thanks for the kind comments guys really appreciate them.

Hoping to do some painting today, not a lot of hobby time this week and what time I had went into the cleanup below

WIP Imperialis Cathedral

Currently I’ve got the kill team starter set and the Sanctum set all cleaned up and ready to play with.

Was very bored of clipping and mold line scraping at the end.

I want to create a large centrepiece kit from them and then make some small ruins to go with it.

Here’s my initial blu tack fit of the “cathedral”

I Need to get 2 more full walls for the sides at the front.

The tower will have a one tile floor the floor and a half is so I didn’t cut up a tile before I knew what I wanted.

I’m going to build a ruined roof for the main building and the sniper tower and build handrail on the 1st floor.

Thanks for looking

Great work. I like the Nurgle scheme you use, and that Woslung terrain is really good. I like the new buildings - they are actually kind of more restrained than the old ones, which is good IMO.

And I always love anything with Aliens. Great job there!

That terrain is looking great, I like all the attention to detail, the black and yellow cables in particular!

Have you considered adding some posters to them? There's not really many flat spaces to put them but I find they add a lot of character to terrain.

Probably not posters on the main structure, I’m planning on having the finished piece as a ruined cathedral, will do on the separate ruined sections.

This is the first/prototype mini from the Goliath Gang ill put together one day “The Boys”.

The rest of the gang will have normal goliath heads but the beast needed a skull mask

Inquisitor Justice Sedante (Ordo Xenos)

Mini from Hasslefree with a weapon swap, Gun from the Escher set and the Sword is from shape ways (ill do a review soon)

Justice Sedante is an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor focusing on the Minors threats (anything not a galactic threat or deemed not to have to pose a danger to an entire sector on imperial space), minors threats include the Xenomorphs, Mi-Go, Weeping angels & Yautja.

Now she's finished ill try to restart the Inquisitor Diaries Thread by the end of the year.

Started painting my copy of blackstone this is the progress after a week.

Pretty good progress for me in one week especially as I was away for most of the week.

Ur-ghuls and spindle drones almost finished and paint is going down on the others.

Was going to wait to finish painting all the minis before playing

Turns out I couldn’t wait......
First game played with my girlfriend we played the bonus mission from the December white dwarf.
Might make it a thing going forwards that I’ll treat myself to a game if I make a decent bit of painting progress each week.

Enter the Blackstone fortress - Week 2

Calling finished on the Ur-Ghuls

Went with more of a ghoul/vampire look rather than the usual blue/purple look.

Heres my current progress on painting up my copy of Blackstone fortress (sorry about the glare)

Hostiles only

Explorers only

Particularly happy with the face on Janus

Me and the girlfriend also got our second game in (pictures were awful so there wont be ay here), we have gone with the rule that if you suffer a grievous wound you cant heal it in combat but can heal in the recovery phase. (there is a contradiction in the rules around this).

After this adventure both Amallyn and Janus found their Secret Agendas and no one died so good Quest

Post by: Flinty

Lovely ur ghouls. The transition to the redder colour o the claws is nice.

Also the drones look ace.

I tried my first solo mission last night and it's pretty brutal. Only survived because the mission only generated 2 mobs and I ran for the exit like a bunny.

Keen to try it again tonight.

Also on the grevious wounds, I thought the idea was that you were lumped with them until you got back to precipice. That was my ready g at least. I couldn't actually find anything in the Precipice book that says the adventurers get fully healed between expeditions.

JoeRugby’s Sci Fi Shenanigans - Enter the Blackstone Fortress - loads of pics 28/08 @ 2019/01/20 15:03:43

Post by: JoeRugby

Cheers dude

With grevious wounds on pg 14 when talking about grevious wounds it says that they are treated by explorers in the same manner as wound counters but can’t be healed in an encounter. Aside from that any rules that apply to wound counters apply to grevious wound counters.

The only other reference to an encounter is in the healing section where it says about healing a wound in an encounter with a vitality roll.

Because of that I interpret it that you can heal in the recovery phase, until there’s an update to the FAQ it’s just an interpretation tho.

Think the mention of wounds going away is in FAQ and the GW play vids

Ur-Ghuls are awesome.

In fact all looking awesome. Especially Janus.

For some reason when I saw the drones, I immediately thought of Maelstrom's Edge. They are not exactly the same but really made me look twice.

Week 3, not got much painting in this week

Did get a Button from Beasts of war for week 2s progress though (mostly the 5oclock shadow on my WIP Janus) which is pretty cool

But heres the current state of the set.

all

hostiles only

Explorers

also got a cheeky game in on Sunday, me and the girlfriend rolled really badly so the exploration was a slog.

No one died but it was close a couple of times.

UR-025 leaves the meatbags to deal with the spikey meatbags

Hopefully i can get a decent bit of painting in this week but seeing as Resident evil 2 has arrived i think ill be distracted

Traitor guard done

Took a lot longer than i was expecting to get finished, Soo much black to highlight :(

The 14 guard are split into 2 squads Black squad and red squad. (guys with a red stripe on their helmets)

makes it easier to split them up into squads for games (theres 8 in the black squad as thats the most guard that will show up in an encounter)

fur close ups

Think the Grenade boys are my favourites tho i would like to know how to paint a whisky like colour better for their Molotov’s.

with these guys finished that means….

*that was the best version i could find of only the Chorus

28/44 done, I'm going to try holding off on buying Abby and Shadowspear until I've finished Blackstone fortress.

I love the robot, looks like a 60s fridge both the design and the teal.

60s fridges had flamenthrowers and assault cannon? That was indeed a wilder age...

Skin tone on the Beastbois is fantastic, love the variety, the one on the left with the grayish skin is my favorite. Also the swords have a nice blend to them.

I love the Colony 87 stuff! I painted mine with orange gear also but yours look cleaner

Also great progress on the Blackstone Fortress. They pretty much all look good, very tidy.

Nice work on the BSF minis, love the eyes of the Rogue Psykers especially the discolored skin around them!
