Omg, i was actually correct when i predicted this weeks ago (I bet that GSC would be getting a pretty big 3+ model realise)... damn it! I was hoping it would have been orks.

Damn, the gunslinger is nice. Might add a hat or an bandena
Could be kill team related release. Genestealer cult codex is far off though. Next 2 are wolves and orks and GW didn't even put cult with them which means there's bigger gap to cult than it was between deathwatch(or was it harlequins that came before knights) and knights.
The white dwarf preview for july is out and doesnt show a single thing from 40k, this could either be because nothing is coming out for 40k this month, or the announcement hasnt been made yet.
Id bet we'll see a Killteam announcement very soon and that this may well be half of the contents, put out on display ready for a fri/sat announcement?
It would be fun if it’s a whole gunslinger unit, but I suspect a character.
Autopistols are more like smgs (hence the autofire), though, while those look like revolvers, so...
Previous precedent is that revolvers and semi-automatic pistols are stub guns (see the old Necromunda miniatures, where various calibres of revolver and M1911-style guns represented stub guns. Various autopistols looked like Uzis and Mac-10s
Looking closer, however, the two pistols that model has drawn both have the style of muzzle that's been characteristic of autopistols and autoguns for years, so ...

No. They already had other teasers for Genestealer Cult on Warhammer Community and the Codex is also set to drop soon.
Everything points to Genestealer Cult being the next sizable 40K release after, likely, mostly miniature-less (bar an Upgrade sprue or so) Space Wolves/Orks mixed into the coming weeks of Age of Sigmar stuff.

Yeah, but some new stuff could be introduced in the Kill Team starter (Kill Team is, afaik, due first, and it's not like they've never done that kind of thing before).

Not so much "everything points to" as outright stated at UKGE where GW confirmed that there will be GSC models coming pretty soon (hence the teasers for Aberant on Warhammer Community), well before the new codex, which will be the next codex after SW/Orks. Most likely early next year I think he said

I don't think it was ever stated that Genestealer Cults would be getting models before their codex is released. I think it's far more likely for models to be released alongside their codex.

Outright stated? No. Heavily implied? Yes. When we saw the Aberrant, a comment was made during their Facebook stuff that day about GSC being a fairly large release and that "some stuff might be coming before the book".
And realistically, it actually makes a bit of sense. They probably don't want to keep Deathwatch: Overkill around forever.

So that to me suggests that there will be some stuff with the Kill Team release. Which would explain why these models were out at Warhammer World, if Kill Team is due soon.

Why would they need to keep it around forever?
Suspect he is referring to the fact that the Overkill box is the only way to currently get Aberrant models which feature heavily in a lot of lists. Pushing out the new Aberrant box before the codex means they can retire the Overkill box earlier without complaints.

That's already in the kit
Whoops!
*Shuffles off screen awkwardly*
Still, new GSC stuff looks great, if I had any spare budget I might be tempted to start a force. Maybe with Killteam I'll have an excuse!
GW was caught off-guard with the popularity of the GSC in Overkill. I feel like that first codex release was missing a lot of things they would have liked to have made for the army, including a full abberant kit and other ways to get the HQs.

Honestly, it wasn't a huge issue getting the HQs. You buy a box, you get all 3 of them plus the minions right off the bat. Most people that I saw running them fielded the triple formation anyways.

Doubtful. Deathwatch Overkill was released March 2016. Half a year of sales after that to look at and figure out there is more demand than expected. Decision to do more Genestealer Cult based on those sales + the give or take 2 year turn around time of GW doing kits from concept to store shelf alongside their other stuff would lead to a release roughly October 2018, give or take.

Other bit to factor in is that they're purportedly still hitting production bottlenecks at times. There were issues with the rather small line that GSC got at their actual launch, one or two extra kits could have messed it up further.
Yeah, i don't know if these are for Deathwatch. They go alongside the codex to well... it's funny... we were all waiting the Orks to show off year of the Xenos but it's very likely it's going to be the GSC. If it's a good enough uodate to the range I might invest in them.

Nobody is saying these are for Deathwatch...?
Only reason I mentioned it is that Deathwatch: Overkill has been on sale for way longer than many of their boardgames have. I implied that it's because it is currently the only way to get Aberrants.
Now, there's speculation currently that this stuff is also going to be released as a tie-in with Kill Team. We've been told that the rules for everything in Kill Team will be in the book for it.
Looking at the right wrist, I wonder if the right hands are a seperate piece. Might make magnetization easier between picks and hammers, or whatever new toys they may or may not get.

Well not that soon likely. Looks like sw, orks, cult are released with bigger gap between 2nd and 3rd than with harlequin, deatchwatcg and knights
Multiple sets of fingers (on 4 different arms) crossed that we get a Limo as well. Nothing says classic stealers like that 30's American Gangster aesthetic!!
Seeing the pic from the side now, what I thought was the mouth looking at the gunslinger from an angle, the mouth looked paler. Now seeing it on the front. it's a red handkerchief he/she/it is wearing. Dang. Though we would finally get Orkstealers, Taustealers, Sisterstealers, Chaosstealers, Elderstealers and what not. So it's only Imperiumstealers sadly.
The activator handle from last RE is absent, despite these weapons having identical aesthetic. So, either it's special weapon absent from this aberrant squad, or another box is incoming...
I actually like the burly hybrid way more than the gunslinger (except I'll probably buy a dozen of those anyway for the revolvers) because it just screams Lost and the Damned material for both 40k and AoS.

Orks/Wolves will receive more substantial updates by early Sept.

The GSC codex will be much later in the year, possibly after the rumoured Chaos / Slaanesh releases.

This will probably get shot down but I just don't get it. Eldar, Dark Eldar, and Harlequins all released with zero new models, but we get new GC models? Is GC seriously more popular than the Eldar line? Just bewildered really.
bullyboy wrote: This will probably get shot down but I just don't get it. Eldar, Dark Eldar, and Harlequins all released with zero new models, but we get new GC models? Is GC seriously more popular than the Eldar line? Just bewildered really.
It's not about that.
3rd through 7th were all the same basic rules base, just updated over and over again. 8th Ed is a completely new rules base. The release of 8th Ed rendered everything before it incompatible. The priority for GW was getting the new codices out as soon as possible so that people had proper rules to play with and so they wouldn't have to live with the stop-gap tide-you-over indices forever.
This is why we've seen so many codices released in such a short space of time. Remember that 8th Ed just reached its first anniversary. In that time we've had:
Codex: Space Marines** Codex: Blood Angels Codex: Dark Angels Codex: Grey Knights Codex: Deathwatch Codex: Tau Empire Codex: Imperial Guard Codex: Imperial Knights** Codex: Necrons Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus Codex: Chaos Daemons Codex: Adeptus Custodes* Codex: Craftworld Eldar Codex: Harlequins Codex: Drew Carey Codex: Tyranids Codex: Chaos Space Marines Codex: Death Guard* Codex: Thousand Sons**
That's 19 books in 12 months. Plus everything Age of Sigmarines has received (including, now, it's own 2nd Edition), plus the relaunch of Necromunda, Shadespire, and a bunch of other things.
Did you ever think that each of these books would see a major miniature release? Did you think GW had the capacity for such a thing?
*Major release. **Large release on top of an existing miniature line.

Are there units in those codices for which there are no models currently being sold? I ask because I legitimately don't know, and assume that's part of the reason they released a new kit for aberrants. The Primus, well, maybe to add a bit more flavor to the army. Tie-ins to other games like Kill Team may also make sense. Perhaps they have it "figured out" and it's more profitable to sell new models than to replace previously existing kits in their line?
bullyboy wrote: This will probably get shot down but I just don't get it. Eldar, Dark Eldar, and Harlequins all released with zero new models, but we get new GC models? Is GC seriously more popular than the Eldar line? Just bewildered really.
We recently had Yvraine and the 2 others in the box set. Eldar are pretty well fleshed out atm and you can make sizable varied armies, with only Harlequins being on the low 'unit' count. GSC arent necessarily more popular, that doesnt really determine the choice to make new models for them. Aberrants have only been available through DW:OK until now. There is always this, ' I can't believe someone else's army got more stuff and mine didn't' thing going around. What makes it bewildering to you?
Wolf_in_Human_Shape wrote: Perhaps they have it "figured out" and it's more profitable to sell new models than to replace previously existing kits in their line?
Which is a damned shame, because it means we still have thingslikethese kicking around long after they should have been replaced by new plastic kits.

Popularity likely isn't the issue. The issue likely is that GSC is considered a less fleshed out faction so far.

Harlequins really could have used a character on a skyweaver or some other vehicle unit. Eldar really need new Aspect warriors....badly. Dark Eldar also need more HQ choices, especially with the patrol special rules they have.

Back left of that pic looks like a very tall neophyte....??
I have to agree with previous comments that being a harlequins and genestealer cult player, both armies could do with fleshing out a little... can't complain thpugh the harlequin codex is awesome, very true to fluff.
bullyboy wrote: This will probably get shot down but I just don't get it. Eldar, Dark Eldar, and Harlequins all released with zero new models, but we get new GC models? Is GC seriously more popular than the Eldar line? Just bewildered really.
No (although they just might be as there has been a lot of positive response to the line, and they were reasonably competive especially with the first interpretation of the Cult Ambush rule)
but most likely is that they just don't have that many kits and by releasing an aberrant unit they can discontinue Deathwatch Overkill which is a very cheap source of GSC stuff

A lot of armies could have used a lot of things.

Because they got the Triumvirate of Ynnead, plastic Eldrad, the whole Harlequin line, and now the Webway Gate within the same timeframe as it's taken the GSC to get a popular kit(Aberrants) to see general release outside of a board game.
Look, I get it. You want some love for the Eldar. I wanted a Skitarii HQ and some rejigged Guard Veterans. I didn't get either of those things.
We know Ynnari are slated to get a Codex at some point. They've mentioned this multiple times. It's more likely than not that whenever Ynnari get their book, it will have multifaction kits in there.

Have you ever considered the real reason is that Aberrants are currently only available in the DW:O box? It's a unit that needs a separate release because there's no current way to reasonably get them, unlike every unit in the Aeldari line. What makes it harder is that parts for Aberrants were spread out over multiple sprues with other units in the box set so they've had to design new spures for them and it seems they've thrown in a new sculpt or two as well, which is probably better than buying them in 4's.
bullyboy wrote: This will probably get shot down but I just don't get it. Eldar, Dark Eldar, and Harlequins all released with zero new models, but we get new GC models? Is GC seriously more popular than the Eldar line? Just bewildered really.
Not so much more popular, as that they have a tiny model line.
No special characters, Abberants only available in Deathwatch Overkill. A lot of their units are just repainted Guard.
Iirc they have the following
4 HQ- patriarch, magus, primus, iconward
2 troops - neophytes and acolytes
3 elite - pure strain stealers, abberants, metamorphs
1 fast attack - sentinels
2 transports - chimera and Goliath truck
2 heavy support - Goliath rockgrinders and leman Russ
0 flyers
0 superheavy
0 fortifications
Pretty thin model line there, so yes a few more models are in order.
Eldar have a much larger model line, though I won’t argue that they could use updated models for a good chunk of their range.

If your talking to me sorry about that ive no idea why my pics were so big, they were copied straight of my phone!
Back to the GSC, i was thinking about it last night and theres 7 new minis which imo would go like this, 1x gunslinger hero clam pack, 1xAberrant leader type clam pack and 1x Aberrants box of 5 new sculpts. i think a box of 7 or 9 including the old sculpts would be too much for the consumer and possibly squad numbers(i dont have my GSC codex at hand, its buried deep in a cupboard), as i guess they will be priced and boxed similar to Terminators/Death Watch minis ie pack of 5 and @£35. i say about the Aberrant leader type in a clam pack as at mo there is only 1 mini clam pack and that is the standard bearer and will all know how GW likes to milk money through the single figure clam packs!
If I could find a way to make orange cloth looking like SW pilot suits I'd have more GSC than Overkill and a box of Neophytes.
Edit: Regarding boxing, those Aberrants kind of look like Easy to Build to me, maybe a 5 man box and a clampack? A 6 strong E2B seems unlikely, but we got a 4 man Termi box so who knows with GE

Whether they are Easy to Build or not they certainly look mono-pose, either way im looking forward to getting them especially the one with the ripped up signpost, i wonder if they will be like the Overkill ones where you could mix and match the weapons with the different mono-pose bodies and what will happen to those 2(4) minis from Overkill!?

I wasn't. I'm in the US--I'm going off what the Community pages have said, where it's been heavily implied. That's where my statement is coming from. I'm hesitant to say "OUTRIGHT STATED!" when I can't confirm it.

New designs for Berserkers and Flesh Hounds can be considered at least halfway complete. That should cut down on the wait somewhat.
