The models really are very good ... the mold lines are tricky to detect sometimes because of the colored plastic but I am pleased what I am able to do with these "smaller models" compared to Custodes and Primarchs I normally paint

thx ... using Armageddon Dunes, small decoration pebbles and the Mordheim grass from GW

after taking the picture of the High Sparow I realized that I forgot the seond drybrush of the base ... that is why it looks more flat than the other bases

Definitely brighter than GoT TV series, but thankfully the books leave enough room for interpretation

I must admit, this is really great job out here. Good contrasting colours and shading, nice clean painted. The only weaker model, at least for me, is the Theon "Reek", too heavy washed, but it's just my opinion. Great job mate.

Thx for the praise. As you state, normally I have a clean painting style, but with some of these models I try to work quickly and Reek was one of them. He should come across dirty - that is why I went with the heavy shade and drybrush.

Hi,

your painted minis made me buy the ASOIAF box. I just love the minis and your paintjob.

Your metal looks great especially the stark soldier helmets and the breastplate of on of the mountains man. It does look very realistic. Could you describe how you did the worn metal effect?

Thanks man ... great to hear I inspired someone to buy the Starter Box. Regarding the metal effects - I use GW colors. Typical its Leadbelcher which is washed with Nuln Oil. In case of the Mountains Man it could be the case I washed the metal twice to make it look even darker. Then you can brighten up larger sirfaces with Leadbelcher again, then use Ironbreaker for higlighting. I just added some extra brushes on the breastplate to make it look like scratches. No special technique ... just let flow your brush.

I lacked inspiration on how to paint this Direwolf ... Greywind and Ghost were pretty clear but Summer was different.
So I just chose the color pattern of my little Jack Russel Terrier and it came out very well - yes its no wolf pattern but who cares.

Nice work, I especially love how the colours worked out for Lord Varys; that bright blue highlighting over the dark base looks fantastic, and works extremely well with that rich orange.

I will say that I think you've gone a bit too dark with the shading on the wolf; I know that shading and contrast add visual interest but there's just too much contrast on the fur there.

That sworn brother is fantastic. His gambeson most have taken a long time.
I think I would go with a blue/gray highlight on the cloak though. While the purple turned out very nice, and is far better done than I could do, it feels a little too fancy for the Watch.

I love the cloak on Roose, very sinister.

Thx for your comments ... and I agree with them. It took a while until I decided which two main colors to use for Varys' robe and I am extremely happy how it turned out. Although there is some Manga Superhero who looks a little similar, but I did not know about him.

As most of my highlighting is over the top and has not much to do with realism the same goes for the fur of the White Wolf ... looking at photos there should be no contrast at all. But I went a little too far I guess ...

Thx for the praise. The Sworn Brother was a test model and I wanted to try out if I can higlight black with something else than grey to put some variety into NW models. But I agree that it did not work out. I have finished a NW veteran just using grey and it looks more realistic.

Yeah, they are 32mm. There are some discrepancies in sculpt quality but overall its much better than I expected when I joined the KS. I am happy to paint something else than Space Marines or Custodes and it leads to much quicker results.

Thx for the praise. Appreciate it! I have received the starter set of the Baratheons so there is plenty of stuff to be painted. But I am not too eager tbh as painting yellow is not my strong suit. I guess I will try out contrast paints for the first time but I have not made a final decision on that.

Great use of a fitting natural palette there. I really appreciate your bold and well outlined style, I appreciate it a lot more than the more blended into each other near high art style that seems to be in fashion at the moment. Another house divided ... Andrew Estermont is the first of the King's Men (i.e. he is in Stannis corner) and Eldon Estermont is routing for Renly

I am especially proud of the "turtle shell" shield ...

Strong Belwas is ready for action ...

I postponed painting Osha for a long time because I just dont like the big head of the model. But at some point I had to paint her ...

Lovely job. I'm particularly impressed by the scars on strong Belwas.

Thank you for sharing.

It is such a fun game with such good models I'm surprised it hadn't picked up more traction.

Thank you very much. I don't know if Belwas' skin got a little too dark but I still like it. The game is really hurt by the bad distribution. Asmodee is responsible in Europe and it does not work out at all. I am happy I have all starter and character boxes but I just cannot get my hands on the newest Targaryen or Baratheon stuff. Lets see what happens with the Greyjoys in Q1 2021.

The game and its mechanics are great so I can only advocate you try it out somehow. Currently they are facing some balance issues with certain factions but thats more of a problem in the tournament scene ...

Some of the nicest painted ASOIAF I think I have ever seen, really beautiful.

Makes me really want to get my own stuff painted, I will have to come back here for inspiration!
