Some good stuff in there, but nothing that I see as a must have. Except maybe the titan death book. The genestealer cult stuff is cool but I don't play em and don't plan to. I am glad to see a new flesheater courts model. I kinda just wish they did a plastic varghulf instead of a new unit though. The mechanicus guy is actually cool too.
So I dunno whether I should feel relieved that there isn't much catching my eye or just be underwhelmed. It's probably a good thing cause my wallet needs some rest.
Edit: i just realized what was missing, more glimpses of the sisters of battle. Hoping they update this posting later today..
Annoyingly tons of already known and not single date. And of course all the products I'm interested and mentioned there have been known for months and even seen before! ARGH!
Could at least tell what quarter if not month they are coming. Hopefully we are at least already in correct year...

Most things they have shown at these preview events come out within 3 months. 6 months has been the longest and that is usually due to leaks like rogue trader.
I think we will probably see the gsc later this month.

Well GSC is who cares level for me (no offense for GSC players. Just that I have enough 40k factions. Good for GSC players these are coming and models do look sweet). What I'm dying for is titandeath and even more than that the weapon sprues(both warlord and the reaver) and the Gondor in Flames supplement.
Those have been known for long long time and still no idea even in what QUARTER they come let alone month. Do I have any chance of getting new weapon sprues this month? Would be nice seeing tournament'ish event for AT in february!
Annoying enough to wait. Even worse when they keep telling "these are coming" and literally only thing new was cover of titan death supplement. ARGH! Some dates please! That reaver was already shown already. Even sprue has been shown! This is worse than waiting for ork codex was.
(and really annoying thing is that the products I'm interested most, the weapon sprues, weren't originally even intended to be out on their own but GW changed mind after outrage...So how does that affect into release schedelude? Who knows. I don't recall GW changing how they sell something like that due to feedback so...)
edit2: And albeit I might be more pissed off than should be because link I saw to the article had the titandeath book cover and being dying for news on those was expecting bit more substantial news than just cover and rehash of what GW has already told us. That's...dissapointing. Rather buddhist lesson actually! Hurt by own expectations.
Oh that new bug (that looks like a proper bug) looks fantastic! I take it its an encounter for Blackstone?
Also the new female cultist leader and the intro video for Cultists reminds me ever so much of the original Dune film! Someone in GW design seems to really like that film (and the guilders it seems!) .
Urban conquest looks big and fun! Also looks like it would work great (at least components) for Necromunda!
Souleater wrote: I love the Techpriest with his fingers to his lips. Very Elmer Fudd. "Be vwery, vwery, qwuiet. "
The female GSC magus will be a great jumping off point for Slaaneshi or DoK conversion.
There was some meme going around a while ago where Spongebob breathes in with his fingers in that position and then says "Boi", I never quite understood it but this character certainly reminds me of that.
The new Magus.. oh man, she is awesome. Also saves me doing that long waiting Yvraine conversion as I'd not top this... if I get little else than the Codex for my second lads army, I will get him one of her.
More Gobbo's and an extra Troll in BB are also useful as well.
But let's forget that and focus on the positives. There are a lot of things to like in these reveals (more tomorrow?), including a bona fide expansion pack for Blackstone Fortress rather than Silver Tower's repurposed Warhammer minis. And the Ambullissance continues with the Ambots being revealed. I mean sure, keen-eyed readers would have seen it in the Version 1.0 Stream Release of Newcromunda (along with another upcoming noble-looking Bounty Hunter with a powdered wig), but it's nice to finally see them.
I have to say that without a shadow of a doubt my fav mini out of this entire lot would have been her:
Spoiler:
This miniature is simply fantastic. I cannot wait to get it. GW's previews in recent months have only made me exclaim out loud involuntarily twice. Once was the plastic Flesh Hounds ("YES!", I cried at the YouTube window, as I had been waiting a long time for them), and the other was this Magus ("Aw sweet!" I said aloud to no one, equal parts happy that the model existed, yet sad that GW continues their 'only draw the minis' trend).
And I said she would have been my fav mini of the whole bunch... except then they showed this guy:
Spoiler:
I don't know who this guy is or what he does, other than the picture calls him a 'Cult Locus'. It's... amazing. He's almost Genestealer Cult Mechanicus with the decoration on the robe's trim. He's just incredible. A new AdMech HQ mini is also nice. Do hope he's not only in the Commander KT box. Is that going to be a thing going forwards? Commanders in the KT faction boxes? If it gets rid of the shockingly overpriced individual commander boxes, then good!
There are tons of other amazing things. We get an expansion on those "Moonbase" ruins as a new soon-to-be-sold-out KT Killzone, including new buildings to go with it. We get more Sector Mechanicus terrain (which as you know, I need more of), in the form of this fabulous drill:
Spoiler:
(Funt Fact - this drill comes with the 'straight walkway' sprue, which is one of the harder ones to get as most sets don't include it)
And if any'a y'all have a keen eye, then if you turn your head 90 degrees to the right you'll see something very new here:
The set comes with "Sector Imperialis Fallen Statues" and a redone objectives kit (there's a field generator, a little mausoleum thingy, crates and a mini generator thing.
Here, hold on, I'll type rapidly on my keyboard like one of those l337 hackerz and zoom and enhance for you:
I'd be really excited about Urban Conquest is I didn't find 8th Ed so boring...
chopstyx wrote: Will be interesting to see if the new KillTeam Ad Mech and GSC commanders are named characters in 40k or new generic HQs.
Ad mech is crying out for a 3rd (non-Cawl) HQ option.
They'll be generics almost definitely. The Commander sets have been providing us with a name for Kill Team and a filled out datacard but otherwise they're just named versions of a generic.
Exception is the stuff from "Rogue Trader"...but for how long, who knows. Gellerpox Infected make up a big storyline for Vigilus Defiant, and a Rogue Trader that isn't the lady from Rogue Trader whose name is eluding me at 0818am.
I'm hesitantly excited for this gent though. I'm at a point with my AdMech that I'm done with buying anything that is not NEW new. Not opposed to getting some more Sicarian though.
It should be noted that the Admech guy has a different weapon in the article than the one he's equipped with in the display case. So we're getting options

GW is like an ex girlfriend that you left because she is a crazy person, but can't stop answering late night calls from because she is still too damn hot.
Seriously though these guys are a changed company these days, reeling me back in with some genuinely awesome stuff.

I love the admech HQ (please don't be an elite slot). The only thing I dislike about the model is the tentacles sticking straight out from his armoured power gut. But I imagine I can just leave those off
I couldn't buy GW products like I would wanted to have so needed to stop my purchases. I use to collect the dice even if they were not my faction.
In the video for the introduction of the Genestealer Codes, I noticed the dice for the Genestealer cults at the end, that there is 6 pips. So is GW going back to the "icon" is the one again or have they been doing that already and I just didn't know?

Yes, icon is one has been the thing for awhile now.

They stopped it on the latest ones, and had a skull on the 1 and the icon in a 6.
Doesn't look like my pile of shame is going to be shrinking any time soon. Unlike my bank balance
The GSC stuff looks uniformly excellent and will probably motivate me to finally get cracking with a cult force.
A new Techpriest is a pleasant surprise. Hopefully he's the harbinger of more AM releases. If not the plastic Ambots will probably find there way into lots of martian forces.
The actual Ambull has just blown me away though. Cant wait to get my hands on that bad boy.
GW knocking it out of the park once more! Turns out I need to collect an entire GS Cult army, pick up blackstone fortress, and also start looking into AoS as well....
Between Deathwatch Overkill, Tooth and Claw, and the KT starter, I’ve got a serious number of GSC models without ever specifically buying a GSC product. I don’t play 40k. How close am I to having a playable GSC army?
Ah man, of course I just recently bought Sicarians and Acolyte H6brids for Kill Team, as well as commanders, and then they have to release the same in a box set with new HQ models and terrain!!!

But, what? Are the flames lifting him up in the air, and the skulls weighing him down?
Or his cloak just that stiff? Or is he doing a little hopping dance?
Weird pose, but hurrah for another opportunity for people to paint flames wrong, I guess.
Specialist games and forgeworld will have content going forward in the 'non 40k/aos' section. Necromunda battle report coming soon.
AoS will be getting an 'index astartes' style segment adding new sub-faction rules like what we got with crimson fists this month.
The new rules section will alternate between AoS and 40k. So 40k got crimson fists this month, next month sees AoS get a new stormhost.
Regarding 40k, these rules will not be locked to only loyalist chapters but will include chaos and xeno factions; basically anyone with a sub-faction rule will be looked at in time. (Remember there will only be six new sub-faction per game system each year and Loads of armies to cover.)
WD team excited by the suggestion to look at the FW chapters that use to have rules like the badab war chapters.
Also there will no longer be a 'new releases' section at the beginning as the community site has that covered.
Their powerful sorcerers are prancing around and tripping on their own skull adorned robes. The skulls are probably even the last 5-6 chaos sorcerers who died tripping over the stupid robes and impaled themselves on the pointy stars or horns.
“ Emperor commanded us to prance with stupid long robes on , we’ve been following orders for 10millenium and still we are called traitors. “
Yeah. Finally some timeframe. Too bad the ones I'm most looking will thus likely be like 5-8 weeks from now on and so waaaaay too late for the AT event next month but at least it's something!
Hopefully titandeath at least has rules for Mortis legion!
Mortis is all over main rulebook as well and nowhere in sight. I think people expected it for rulebook already being archtypical traitor legion. But we'll see. Only 2 weeks or so before contents are revealed I think max.
No chance for my other legion but then again I knew that from the get-go. That's very much undetailed legion whose known fluff is known roughly "they got nearly wiped in Mars" and "prefer long range firing"

How is Chaos a threat? Do you not follow the meta? Bunny-hopping is a time-honored way of applying negative to hit modifiers. Be grateful he isn't bunny-hopping while crouched.
I'm excited that we're finally getting that drill. Line art for it was used in a number of places and its good to have some visual focal points that aren't just a random pipe or tank.
I figured they'd Kill Zone the moonbase terrain. I always liked that it looks like it belongs mixed in with the sector mechanicus terrain, but there wasn't a way to get enough of it to be worth while. This is finally a way to get more of the intact wall sections, and a ceiling.
I wonder how much of a better deal it will end up over that original release.
Oh man thank you for this image. The warcom shot made it look like he was doing a "shhh" gesture instead of steepling his fingers, which I found very upsetting
That Strigoi is an old dream come true. Finally they nailed the pose and proportions. Definitely gonna scavenge eBay for that one !
GSC stuff is overall pretty solid. I'm glad for GCS players they got some decent new stuff. Really enjoed the little animated video, too. More of these for other factions please.
The Ambull is amazing. I wonder whether they are going to give it a datasheet for 40k as well and what faction it can be used with. Even if they don't I'd probably get it anyway just to paint it.
Slayer-Fan123 wrote: I actually really like the Sorcerer. A simple ominous floating can go a long way.
Shame I don't want models with a lot of bling on them.
To be honest I don't know if I'd call that pose simple and ominous. It's the raised knee flying pose models get to indicate they're not just dangling in the air. I find it pretty stupid and tired.
I quite like the flames and decorative bits, though.

Thanks for pointing that out. I got the hushing look from the Warhammer Community picture and never even saw the metal hand. That makes the model a lot more appealing to me.
Was at... He's not doing a "shhhhhh" motion at all. There is another cybernetic arm in a mirror kind of calculation pose. hadn't noticed the lat from the Or not at the other angle.
Those Ambots are amazing, holy crow. The fact that it comes in a pack of two is pretty interesting, since I can't see a gang having more than one at a time except in really long campaigns.
I'm kinda surprised they didn't show anything for sisters of battle. No renders, artwork, no mention of them as far as I could tell. You'd think they'd start the year off with a bang and show off at least something...since they are probably going to be the most hyped release of the year.

I'm not really surprised. It's too soon to show off much. Better to wait until they have something concrete and closer to the release date.

True, but they've been trickling out little things like renders of heads/guns etc for the past several events last year. It's just odd they skipped this open day in particular. They also said that one completed sob model would come out before the army as a teaser of sorts. No sign of that model with a paintjob even though its been a long time. But yeah all indications are they will release at the literal arse end of the year.
I was also kind of surprised we didn't get a new sisters render. But hey, LVO is at the end of the month and I'm sure they'll reveal more then. There's still MORE GSC stuff that's yet to be revealed too!
Thrilled by the Kill Team stuff. Really glad we're getting close quarters missions outside of Rogue Trader and I like the new killzone! I also predict that the GSC and Admech starters for Kill Team is how they're going to flesh out the rest into the future. Things like Harlequins and Grey Knights can make a commander out of their normal troop box, so I wouldn't be surprised to see that.
GSC stuff is just awesome. I'm going to pick up one of those female Magus models no doubt! I hope they get another 'big' unit. Currently they only have the goliath truck, but I'd love for them to get another big centerpiece kind of model.
At this point the amount of noise and asking online about a new abby model combined with GW actually listening now.... would say its a done deal in the next 6months to a year... prob in the second campaign book
Danny76 wrote: Isn’t this a two day event or was it just today?
But on sisters, no indications needed, I’m pretty sure they said it was the other end of 2019 way back on reveal..
They originally said Sisters were coming in 2019 (Emperor willing ). That's it.
Now it's easy enough to guess that meant the back end of 2019 if you take GW's traditional development period of 18-24 months and aren't desperate to deny just how clueless GW was about the genuine demand for plastic Sisters prior to doing the community survey. But as far as actual, official announcements went 2019 was as precise as GW wanted to get.
Emperor willing.

That's the best part of that model. She's extremely versatile for conversions. Hopefully we'll get more like that in the future.
Glad to see there is nothing that is going to urge me to buy right now (thank God after 2018), but those new GSC models are indeed amazing. Maybe later down the line I may grab some for some narrative games.
BrookM wrote: Dante is probably up next, wouldn't surprise me, as he's been put in charge of the Imperium Nihilus.
Wait so did they retcon Nihilus already? Because it seems pretty hard to be in charge of something where warp travel is incredibly dangerous even over short distances and most systems are supposedly functionally cut off from one another(except when there's a Product Launch Crusade to give everyone the newshiny of course).
Dante is old as feth. If the operation “killed” Calgar, I dunno how likely it is he’d survive. Of course there’s always plot armor, also using Calgar as an example, so never mind!
Dante already died and got a pep talk from Sanguinius after fighting the Swarmlord on Baal, while pretty much every other BA related Chapter Master/Captain that isn't Carlaen or Gabriel Seth got slaughtered, so it's pretty safe to say he's sticking around and will probably get get the mega Marine upgrade.
Hopefully they don't put him in fugly gravis armor or an inceptor baby carriage.
