Marcus' 2021 log- The Morval Fusiliers @ 2021/02/10 07:48:02

Post by: lord marcus

Hello all,

Welcome to my blog

I'll make this short and sweet: I really would like commentary.

I also track my progress in terms of how many models I complete throughout the year.

----------------------------( Edited first post)--------------------------------------------

Vive la revolution comrades!

2020 was a hell year for all of us, for multiple reasons. As of the time of writing, the year was one of the worst for me on a personal level in quite a long time. That said, there were also some highs, so its not all gloom.

With that said, and a month and 10 days in , I'm opening my 2021 blog here on DakkaDakka. My initial goal for this year is 365 miniatures equivalency, as per usual.

Good looking Imperials! Gaudy, and great yellows! Pink and Yellow is an underrated combo. Would I be right to assume that you actually undercoated the yellow with pink as well? It's a very warm life-like yellow.

Cool to see your 2021 blog, I really liked your Persian project. Looks like some similar bright colors are being brought to bear on your Empire and I'm way into it. Marienburg?

nope. everything is undercoated white

Thanks for sticking around. the Persian project will be folded into this thread, as I am nowhere near done with them yet. not marienburg. magenta and yellow is ostermark. Yellow and black is Averland. Other units will be forthcoming.

Secondary: 5 greatswords, 5 swordsmen

The ten handgunners are there just so I keep them in my minds eye to paint next

Can't remember how many times I've started a cult due to lack of anything better to do. Yet to recruit a single follower though.

Really cool conversions, those would work in a variety of systems, I like the potential for a pulp-era skirmish warband.

I've been watching Horatio Hornblower all week. Therefore I figured my cities of sigmar army could probably use some naval action.

I went to the drawing board of wacky ideas and this is the work in progress result. And yes the navigator is a celestial wizard.

The airship and its crew are brilliant, both in concept and execution. If I have one suggestion, it would be to festoon the Eisenkern armor with lots of old-timey pouches and bags.

Christmas has come in march.

I've wanted some of these models for a very very long time.

From left to right: original metal marius lietdorf, con raukov, and boris todbringer. Exalted valten, ice queen of kislev. Light wizard, and then Grand Masters of the blazing Sun, knights panther, and White Wolf.

I also have horses for everyone, but they are not pictured

Wargames Atlantic. Its the new lizardmen kit, with some bits from their Napoleonics thrown in for flavor (the hats, a bedroll wrapped up, and the leaders sword.

Yesterday (monday) on day 7 of my #Hobbystreak, I took a break from those Gondorians to start on 5 of the dead men of Dunharrow.

There will be an update later tonight with both the Gondorians and Dead completed for day 8

Mate, this is unreal progress!

I am not sure I have ever seen such a dedicated collection of LotR minis. They are vastly underrated sculpts imo - I think being non-heroic scale really hurt them in that regard or we'd see them pop up a lot more in conversions for mainstream games, but you are doing them justice and then some in here. They look brilliant massed together - I particular love the Gondor soldiers next to the ghosts!

Napoleonic lizardmen are a blast. Can't wait to see more. Keep it up and thanks for sharing!

Did the Persians really wear brightly colored jumpsuits like that?

As bright as they could get with the dyes they had available. yes. Pinks wouldn't have been nearly as bright, but I'm going for fun when I'm painting these.

Also, a vast majority of them would have patterns on the bright cloth. I find pattern work tedious and annoying, so I dispense with it for most of the mainline troops. I may spend extra time on immortals, as I did with my (currently) 1 command stand.

Stupid to just say without photos but:

I painted a lord ordinator and the crew for a celestar ballista tonight.

I don't want to show them because they are not complete.

The shoulder pads are missing a color, mainly because I missed it when I packed my paint for the trip I'm on.

The bases are also unfinished because I normally work on them last to "close out" the painting process.

I'll be trying to find a local shop before Elsa moves in over the coming days

These are Lannister Red cloaks I've repainted into a purple and gold scheme to match my stormcast.

I'm probably going to use these as Greatswords

You’re cranking out the Stormcasts Marcus, they must be quite a host now. The red/purple coats will make for cool great swords I think.

Gold stag on a green field.

also, news!

Well guys and gals:

I've finally but the bullet and started a project 10 years in the making. All due to the release of the Wargames Atlantic late Romans.

I'm building a 1 to 1 Roman legion. Meaning each miniature represents one man, as opposed to the more usual abstraction of 1 miniature equating to 10 or more soldiers.

Since these are crisis of the third century Romans, it's a smaller project at around 1000 minis than the classical legion 5000. Despite this I think it is a worthy project.

My order to start this project is in, now I just have to figure out a painting regimen.

I painted up some example models of the KZK dwarves. These should so what a median-skilled hobbyist would be able to paint straight after receiving the figures, attaching to bases, and priming them.

Wow, those dwarves are cool minis, the scheme you’ve chosen gives them a nice dark broody look! Nice work!

Thanks. Honestly, I wanted to see how they looked painted, and i would have probably bought the models myself if we didn't license them for merchanting.

I'm glad that we can offer them at affordable prices for my fellow wargamers.
