I’m putting this thread up a month early to help spread the news. You can post this link on social media, discord groups, facebook, or however else you want to spread the word. The goal is to get the best turnout we can. Old faces returning and/or new blood just starting out. This is still a monthly comp, so don’t take this advance post as a starting gun. It will run in June. On the bright side, May’s topic is “Mistakes were Made” so if you end up starting your June entry early, just head over to the May topic and post your proof/WIPs over there. (This was not intentional by the way, just works out nicely)
While we wait for June to start, we can post proof pictures, chat about ideas of what to paint, and look back over the years we’ve been doing this thing! To everyone joining us, welcome aboard and thank you.

Welcome all to the 100th round of the Dakka Painting challenge. For the unfamiliar, this is a friendly painting competition open to members of all skill levels and experience, whether your entry is your first or you thousand-and-first time painting miniatures. Each month, finished entries are collected into a thread where the community can vote on their favorite pieces, and those votes go towards an annual overall League that runs for 12 rounds.
As this is the centennial anniversary, we wanted to do something special to mark it. The problem is balancing the desire to keep things open, to promote more people being able to participate, and a tighter theme to mark the occasion. As a compromise, we are going to do a modified open round. Everyone can pick their own theme from either one that was used in a previous challenge (listed below) or one of two new topics chosen specially for this event. Please include your topic with your proof pic, as they will be listed in the voting thread. One of the hopes of this round is that people will take some time to look back at the previous volume of work and take inspiration from it. We encourage you to revisit prior entries you have made, to show how far you have come, do your own version of an entry that inspired you, or any form of nostalgic callback.
“Celebration” - Your entry should be celebrating something. Victory in battle, milestones of life, or just a good party. From swords raised in bloody triumph, to funny hats and streamers. On a podium or jumping out of a cake. Celebrate in style.
“Paradigm" - Not necessarily the exceptional leaders, but your models should reflect an ideal to which the bulk of their faction can aspire. The goal, the gauge, the archetypical idealized version of what they represent. The perfect copy of what it is, be it grot or god.
Here is a list of all the previous competitions and associated threads. The topics are on the line, but if you want more details you can click through to the vote/competition threads for more info.
March 23 -- No Poll -- Challenge -- Vote -- Space Marine
April 23 -- Poll -- Challenge -- Vote -- Doomsday
May 23 -- Poll -- Challenge -- Vote -- Mistakes Were Made
June 23 -- Discussion -- Challenge -- Vote -- Special 100th competition
How To Enter
- You may enter up to 5 MODELS as a SINGLE ENTRY, and are permitted one entry per member per month. If you enter multiple models, they should ideally be related in some way, such as part of the same squad, unit or scene if you are doing a diorama
- You may enter at any time during the month, up to the last minute. We do encourage people to enter early, as to be part of the community, but if you can’t start until the 11th hour, that’s OK.
- You MUST post a 'proof' picture of your entry in the thread of the state it was in before you started working on it; this must be either unassembled, unpainted, primed or coated a single colour. Entries that do not submit a valid Proof Picture will not be eligible for voting.
- After this, you may post WIP pictures in this thread and your own if you wish, and on completing the entry, you may post up to 6 final pictures IN THIS THREAD that will then be used for voting. Please note that pictures in a montage or collage picture will be considered individual images for this purpose, so while these types of presentation are certainly acceptable, please keep the image limit in mind when compiling them. For example, a collage of 5 images and one separate image would count as your 6 picture allowance.
So What Do I Win?
- Points... and points mean... bragging rights for the next month! Following the vote, points will be awarded to every entrant. This year, the Points you receive will be equal to the Percentage of Votes your entry receives in the final Voting thread; if you get 10%, you get 10 points, if you get 6% you get 6 points, so on and so forth.
These points will be used to form a league table, which will be updated month on month as the results come in.
How Long Do I Have?
This thread is open before the challenge starts to allow people to share the link and spread the word. Painting should not start until June. This challenge formally begins 1st of June and will end at midnight EST on July 2nd. After this, I shall compile the finished entries into a new thread, and voting will run for 5 days.
Already got an entry lined up for the Celebration topic. Though it is more of a somber celebration, I suppose, since the model I'll be doing is the Triumph of Saint Katherine.

Lion this month and the Triumph next? Ambitious! Keep an eye on the time. I know you sometimes struggle on the deadlines, so don’t let them slip away from you.
I need to grab a Triumph one of these days to paint myself. Need to figure how how to fit it into my hobby time/budget. Lot of stuff going on, and I know I couldn’t do it in a month.

Lion will be easy enough, motivation is high on that one. Triumph is gonna be tough but I think I can do it.
@Captain Brown: if you need any help working with plastic, just ask. While the Falcon does date back to 2nd edition, it is made out of that new material you might not be familiar with…
--
So I’m torn on what to enter. Revisiting an old entry sounds great, but I’ve been in all of these, so that’s a lot of ground to cover. Looking back to year 1:
Spoiler:
I don’t have ant honor guard, but do have some bladeguard vets, or a HH praetor. Not a 1:1 comparison, but close.
No boxnaughts, and no plans to get more
While I don’t have a bike autarch, on my short list to do is convert one from the shining spears box. My arm could be twisted to run to the shop and get started on that build in time for the comp.
There might be some more chaos in the depths of the PoS, but I’d be hard pressed to fine something as classic as that nurgle champ.
I do have the modern plastic rangers. Modern sculpts, better painting skills. This is doable.
I’ve got more Eldar dreads then I need. I could use this as an excuse to get a wraithknight, and glow up the concept. bit of a stretch.
Captain vs. demon? I have more captains, and a box of old Clan Wars minis. Might have another Oni.
Sadly, out of chaplains. Might grab one in 10th, kitbash a new TDA one. But not in time for June.
Cato Sicarius? Again, I have spare captains, but none to match his ego (or wargear)
Librarian on bike? I’ve got a TDA lib. Not kitbashing a new biker. Could mix this with the chaplain to get the primaris chaplain on bike that’s been on my wishlist.
I’ve got a chapheracti squad in the wings, but no more characters. Of course, I did do a squad for the comp...
Contemptor is another 1:1 entry. i’ve got the new kit from the HH built, primed, and ready to go.
So low hanging fruit are the rangers or the contempor dread, as those have modern version in the prime pile right now.
Slighty farther, but still close are doing a fancy marine, as I’ve got loads of them.
New purchases which I’m not opposed to doing are for an autarch, WK, bike chaplain.

You need to visit my signature links more.
Nevelon wrote:@Captain Brown: if you need any help working with plastic, just ask. While the Falcon does date back to 2nd edition, it is made out of that new material you might not be familiar with…
Yes, I have modeled with this fantastically light and soft material before...but the knife goes through it so easily it does not seem like a challenge.
Cheers,
CB
PS: afraid this is my second Falcon...the first one was converted to a Wave Serpent many moons ago...so I am looking to fill that one gap in the army.
Modern plastic rangers would be my choice for you Nevelon...xeno camo opportunity.
I'll have a model to go for Celebration. For obvious reasons that suits me better than revisiting any of my previous entries. However, with much of May still remaining I might, with no guarantees that it will actually happen, see if I can't have another model or two ready for painting. I so rarely get to paint more than one model a month. This wouldn't be the worst month to have a few more.
Captain Brown wrote: Modern plastic rangers would be my choice for you Nevelon...xeno camo opportunity.
That gets a vote from me as well because I liked the Marine camo you did recently, Nevelon.
I can’t think of anything for celebration as such, but I’m thinking of revisiting We are Legion to see how many of my 2 boxes of Zombicide: Invader gribbleys I can grind through with contrast style paints.
Flinty wrote: I can’t think of anything for celebration as such, but I’m thinking of revisiting We are Legion to see how many of my 2 boxes of Zombicide: Invader gribbleys I can grind through with contrast style paints.
Hmm. Raises a good point:
If people want to revisit a topic that broke the rules (like the few times we’ve waived the 5 model restriction) they can do so for this comp as well.
I can’t think of other rules we have lifted. Some comps (like the technical rounds) have imposed extra ones.
question, when it comes to epic scale and number of models, how is that counted? One strip of what i want to try to paint contains 10 figurines and they cant be seperated from the strip.
So would in this case one strip with 10 figurines count as one model??

Yup. For swarms and small scale stuff with multiple minis per base you can count them as one. Or a giant oliphont with a howdah full of easterlings.
SKR.HH wrote: Gosh... I have the perfect mini for this... BUT IT'S FINECAST...
You make me work with Failcast again... Ugh...
Part of the reason for this comp is to push people out of their comfort zones. But sorry if you need to work in Finecast. I’ve had mixed luck with it myself.
Remember, you can choose from any prior topic, so if you want to do something that doesn’t need finecast, you should have a good range of subjects to work with as a fallback.
Withdrawing my entry. I did a primer test to see that everythgin was ok for next month, but it was not.
Something is fubar with the epic line models from warlord as both GW chaos black and vallejo black rattle can primers corrodes/eats up the plastic models!
Sendt an email to warlord about this issue, will see what comes out of it.
Thanks for the invite! Will try to participate despite of long-haul work trips.
I'll need a "portable painting box" of a sort to hopefully make it work.
I've painted and am currently playing 20 of the old, metal wraithguard. I used to have a couple of the little guys too, but I don't know what's happened to them.
I don't think I've ever finished a painting challenge, but now my kids are older, and I started a new job where I work 3 days a week, so I should have time.
I have a 4-man squad of Mandalorian Super Commandos for Star Wars: Legion, and Rook Kast. Built, I'll be priming them this week. "Paradigm" it is.
Oh my. I haven't managed to finish anything since like a year but really can't let this round pass :p
Someone help me decide:
- Triumph of Katherine (Celebration)
or
- Griffith Sigvald (Paradigm)
I'm collecting Sisters so Triumph should eventually happen, anyway, but the Sigvald mini is kinda interesting as a painting project, too ...

Normally I'd say Sisters because St. Kathy is a really cool model. But if you're having trouble finishing things at the moment, maybe painting what is effectively a squad of Sisters with a huge scenic base isn't the best idea? It's pretty fiddly and there's a bit of repetition. Sigvald seems like a much more straightforward choice.
As a reminder, you can pick your topic from any of the previous topics used over the course of the challenge, not just celebration/paradigm. So if you need to find some motivation, dig around and see what fires a spark.
I know there would be zero chance of me finishing something like the Triumph in a month. But different people paint at different rates. And if you are motivated, amazing progress can happen.
And because I’m crazy...
I’ve got 99 problems, but missing a competition is not one.
Nevelon wrote: As a reminder, you can pick your topic from any of the previous topics used over the course of the challenge, not just celebration/paradigm. So if you need to find some motivation, dig around and see what fires a spark.
Totally missed that fact… haha
Ah well, I am pretty hyped for my idea on the topic of ‘Celebration’
Minis have arrived too… just using the next few days to work on Mr.Terrorgheist for my nicely expanding FEC army *gulp*
Okay I've got it more or less ready without breaking any of the parts, so this'll be me for June:
The theme is Celebration, because what more joyous occasion is there than a birth? Y'see, when a mommy and a daddy love each other very much, and mommy has a book of summoning rites and a bunch of invasive surgical tools and daddy's been nailed to the ground so he can't get away...
Yeah Ima go out of comfort zone and instead of just making 1 .. I'll make all five "vampire" knights into glorified wood elf knights extraordinaire (mainly because I have too many elf heads laying around and my wood elf army can use some more (hah! more?..oh my word) mounted folk.. (stop making mounted folk leopold, you've got way too many of those already for sun'sake) (i cannot, the woods are vast and require four legged travelers) (what?)
Anyway, will be a nice way to showcase my custom made dark gold my elf army is decorated with.
Kinda funny. Halfway through the year and I’ve painted a total of one blue Ultramarine. These guys will get the snow camo cloaks, cut from the same cloth as the phobos guys.
Armor will be grey, instead of the black I use for the rest of the craftworld. Leather also shifts down to a paler cut. Still bright red helmets and ribbons. Because real camo is boring and effective.
Spoiler:
These guys started my snow camo. Part of my recon exchange program. My SM scouts were in forest camo, which helped them infiltrate and observe my Eldar with their maiden world grass green bases. So my Rangers got arctic camo to scope out my Ultras on their snowy terrain. When Primaris were introduced, I decided to mix it up and have the new guys match their bases. But now we’ve come full circle. The camo that was starter for my rangers was taken over to the phobos line, where it was practiced and improved. And now it returns.
Here are my entries. As I so hopefully said earlier, I'm going to try and get more models painted this time around than I manage on the average month.
Topic: Celebration
The president of Cubana after the election. Presidente salutes his people after an overwhelming 102% of the voters expressed their faith in him.
The president of Terra Nova. Mr. President lights a Fat Banan™ after a long day at the office. Budget meetings are the worst.
Ganjaman celebrating, umm, let me see, uh, that it's... Right! That it's Tuesday morning. Like... Wait! It's Wednesday. Totally celebrating that it's Wednesday, I repeat, Wednesday morning! Morningish. Anyway...
So, I'm going to be going with a Paradigm or 3:
The Queens of the Adriatic, promo alt-sculpt leaders for the 3 (!) Carnevale factions we own. Having primed them, I got a... bit over-excited and started putting down some colours on the water before remembering today is 31st, not the 1st - hope that's ok.
I need to finish up a WFB chaos army this month, so I'm going to revisit the We Are Legion challenge. I managed 11 models for this last time, hopefully I can improve on that this time
KidCthulhu wrote: Ugh, I'm trying to think of something good for the challenge (since I've lost all desire to work on Eldar ghosties) and I'm drawing a total blank.
What’s on deck? What are your current projects? What are you looking forward to paint?
With the ability to pick a topic from the entirety of the challenge, it’s going to be easier to find a topic to match your mini then a mini to match the topic.
Here it is, my official entry for the centennial challenge. A CELEBRATION of all orkishness in glorious mechanical form. My own scratch-built slightly oversized Deffdread.
It’s June. Time to get painting! Remember that you can enter at any time, so don’t worry if you showed up late. And can pick from any old topic plus the two new ones, so no excuses for nothing that matches!

Currently? I've been painting a hodge podge of fantasy-themed models for my upcoming comic, Big Fantasy Epic. Unfortunately my schedule makes painting sporadic. Like, I finished an excellent Conquistador Ogre last night because I had time.
I suppose I could do it like when I worked on "We Are Legion" where I snapped a WIP proof photo of everything I touched and made my proof photo a collage of everything I managed to finish (and then posted my final pics and proof pic all at once).
I guess my entry could fuilfill a few of the different challenges, but I'll aiming for paradigm. A space marine standard bearer should exemplify everything a space marine should be. The most space marine of space marines.
The Xeno forces from my Zombicide: Invader pledge! 50-odd workers, 20 hunters, 8 flingers, a bunch of tanks, the awesomely named Xenomoths and a range of Abominations.
Contrasts/Xpress paints at the ready. Just need to get a finalised scheme sorted.
Dang it. Got over excited whilst painting the Magi Queen and did the greens on the rest of the primed ones I failed to do last month... Now I have a command group for the contest instead
I suppose they are the... Paradigm of the Cult. Mebbe.
Given that I'm not going to be able to start working on my entry until like the 12th (got a tournament coming up that I need to paint stuff for, plus a Kill Team league), I'm probably not going to be able to do the Triumph of Saint Katherine as I had previously planned. I'm gonna have to have a hard think on what I'll enter instead.
I'm really undecided what to choose. I have a Triumph of St Katherine which I could do for the Paradigm theme, but it's a big project and still in the box, not even assembled. I also have a really nice proxy model of an avatar of Lileath for my exodites project, but I need to work out how to do a swirling energy base which is giving me a mental block. I could also go back a couple of months and restart my exodite queen on dracoline. Or I have Celestine who I've been meaning to paint up as my own character for ages...
Captain Brown wrote: Starting to magnetize the secondary weapon options and the flying base.

How do you mag your stands for grav tanks? I’ve not been able to get something that works for falcon chassis.
Nevelon,
I used three 1/4 inch round magnets(1/16 deep)
I mounted one on the base (using the shorter plug and cutting it down by about 1/8th of the height to make a wider platform for the magnet), secured that with some clear 2 part epoxy for the magnet on the vertical plug. Two more magnets in the hull (I used a 1/4 inch drill bit and hand turned it into the original small hole from above so there was a very small layer of plastic still there between the bottom magnet and the two in the hull), secured those two magnets with 2 part epoxy for keep them from moving.
I can lift the model and have no fear of the bottom magnet releasing. Since there is still a very thin layer of plastic between the magnets in the hull I can spin the model in place to change facing.
Closing in on a preferred scheme for the workers. Progress so far shows the range from “let’s slap random colours together to see what sticks”, through, “I quite like this combo”, and now closing in on “ooooh, now let’s paint the rest”
Preferred scheme so far is a space grey torso, using kroxigor scales to transition through to black lotus on the legs and deep purple on the arms. Head will be a fleshtone base with a transition through to blood angels red for the tentacles, then I’ll mash a plague shader wash over everything
Also on the far right is the scheme I think I’ll use for my hunters.
For this challenge, I'll be (re)painting these models:
These pre-Realms of Chaos were what got me to quit Battletech and start playing WHFB, and remain the paradigm (see what I did there? )of what Chaos is to this day. The three still on their bases came in the blue blister packs of two models, while the remaining model was an early Slaves To Darkness-era release. Stripping off their 40-year old paint jobs revealed just how bad I was at mold line removal, so that's my first job.

That chaos champion on the right (bottom) is one of my favourite sculpts of all time! I've still got the pack of combat cards where he's painted up in all his slaaneshi glory! Can't wait to see what you do with him!
I don't normally do in-progress pics much, but I thought I'd snap this one off before I upend a pot of Fleshtearer Red onto this boy because birth ain't as pretty as in the movies:

Very nice! I just got a Chaos Champion from that era as well as the Khorne Champion with axe and power fist that I'm adding to my Legion entry.
A few days delayed, but I can't miss the milestone.
Slann Starmaster, paradigm of the Old Ones, celebratory wand-waver, and silly hat enthusiast
Spoiler:
Both skink attendants are currently unassembled and may stay that way depending on how I go for time. If things go fast enough, I'll move it from the standard base to a bigger jungle themed display

This month I will try to paint Inquisitor Karl, Paragon of the Hades Conclave, Warden of Damned Souls, Bane of Heretic and Deamon, The Unyielding Embodiment of the Emperor's Wrath...
I finished the build about a month ago and he's been sitting in my unpainted pile ever since, my original goal was the create the most 40k figure possible while looking awesome. I don't know if I succeeded, but I'm looking forward to painting him and making a retinue.
That's a nice conversion. I like the old school flintlock style pistol on the back. The grip is even properly sized for the power fist, which is a nice touch
So, my worst critic came around and gave me a piece of his mind. Now I'm in the process of resculpting Ganjaman's hair because his dreadlocks are pretty dire, and not in a good way. Good thing I was going to paint him last anyway.

Spoiler:
Nice model. He looks to be a little light on skulls for a "most 40k" label, though. Everything else is there. Weapons, armor, rivets, purity seals. Maybe he needs a little servo skull buddy to help out with that, at least a bit.

I'm thinking of giving him some servoskulls on separate bases, and honestly extra skulls made him to busy, my artistic style overrode the 40kness
Well it’s certainly been a long time since I entered one of these, can’t believe this month is the centennial for this challenge! Thank you for the message, I’d like to enter with this chap who I believe fits in the Paradigm category, the Saurus all others aspire to be!
Flinty wrote: @Mothsniper - that is amazing work being done in the cab of a vehicle! Maddest of props!

I have to, otherwise nothing will ever get done. I already took a year long break from the hobby, waiting on a better tomorrow.
Tried drilling hole into the gun, and the barrel twisted off...
For the base texture roller was used. However, the only roller I have that fits this model is "dwarf" one from greenstuff.com
This is NOT a final picture, just progress of it all put together so far.
Have an AI night coming up and as I'm away from my elves, I've picked up some Imperial Navy Lightnings and the Wings of Vengeance set on eBay so my entry is going to hark back to November 2021: Catch Me If You Can. The Eldar flyers I painted were one of my favourite entries into the Challenges.
Most likely going to do the three Lightnings, but may throw in two more planes as I'm painting them all. Might even transport the scheme to my Navy Breachers too!
I fixed Ganjaman's hair. Now his majestic mane doesn't look like a royal mess anymore.
Good thing, too. Presidente is well on his way and won't take much more time to finish. I'd better get started on getting all the basecoats down on Ganjaman. He's still last, but I like smooth transitions. And realistically Mr. President doesn't have much in the way of little dfetail to get bogged down in, so he shouldn't take all that long to paint either.
Ok so I listened to the voice of reason aka Geifer and Nevelon and decided against St. Kathy. Then I got even more reasonable and decided against using the challenge as an excuse for buying even moar minis so I'll be doing these metal harlies that have been waiting for like 30 years now:
Because what's a birthday party celebration without some clowns, right
So I’ve been wracking my brain for months to come up with a “celebration” model, to no avail, when I suddenly realised I’ve got some Blood Bowl cheerleaders in need of some love!
Also going to include the referee, because you can’t truly start celebrating until the final whistle goes…
Allright, I have not done one of these in a while, but thanks a lot Midget Gems for the invite ! Here is my proof picture, with this just primed lord of change :
First WIP pic, not entirely sure of the white drapery, might use contrast paint to make it either slightly more beige or do some blend of green and muted pink or something (floral colors) on it.
Its hell though, doing 5 layers of thinned white on these things argh..
Note that this is not my final entry, just a picture like all my models get when they're finished. I'll post a collage of all three models when they're done.

I find a solid coat of varnish helps make everyday handling of fragile models or bits less stressful. A slim part is still a slim part, but the extra layer of rubbery material has protected a couple of my resin models in that past that I know for sure would have snapped without it. Can't recommend it enough.
Only halfway into the month and already reached the detail-phase of my 5 vampire wood-elf horsemen, and to those that still raise their finger and scream in a wizardvoice "but those horses look undead! yearghh!!"
Not if you paint their heads in such a way that it makes it as if the skeletal bit looks like a part of the armor!.. "yeeargh back!"

I'd love to join, but it's exam season in schools and I am a senior examiner for the biggest exam board, so unfortunately I won't have any time to paint anything worthy of the event. I most definitely will be watching and voting, though. I can't wait to see the entries!
Here's a group shot of what I've completed so far:
The Slaaneshi champion is in the works, but with so many more little details it's taking longer than these much simpler models. More photos in my P&M blog.

Damn these are looking good!
I feel like the older style models are less forgiving and require a "compensation" of a sort on the painting side to bring them on par with the newer style sculpts. Respect!

Yeah, models of this vintage (from any company) have a lot of funk value that make up for some of the crudeness of the sculpts.
Month is half over, but I think that'll be enough time. My original plan for this month was to paint up the Triumph of Saint Katherine, but between going out of town for a 40k tournament earlier and having a bunch of other stuff I want to get painted before the new edition drops, it just wasn't feasible to paint the Triumph in addition to all that. So I had to have a bit of a brainstorm session, and I decided to go back to my painting roots, in a way. Way back in April of 2015, this painting challenge was only in its second month, and the theme was Veterans. I actually entered it and painted up some Deathwing Knights, and at the time those were the best models I'd ever painted. It was how I got started in these challenges. So, I decided to revisit the topic of Veterans and enter some Deathwing Bladeguard. These models shouldn't be too difficult to paint in half a month, and it dovetails nicely with my goal to get the whole Indomitus set (well, the Marine half, I split it when it came out so a buddy got the Necrons) done before I start on Leviathan (probably not going to finish before it drops, but I won't paint any of the new stuff until I finish Indomitus). Here's the proof pic:
These are cool models and will be fun to paint. Not as flashy as the Lion who I painted last month, but I couldn't just not enter for the 100th challenge, now could I?

Crude or not, they are easy to look at and when finished to your style I really like how you can spot what's metal, wood, cloth and skin without guessing.
I have till Mon to get done as much as can. Paint box to the rescue!
One of the halflings is almost done.
One of my favorite models from the BlackStoneFortress box BUT! LOSING bits is what you get for opening but not finishing the kits.
Hand with book and the gun for servo skull are lost.
Plan to use canister/flamer for the gun and convert the book bits I have (could of done a scroll in place of the book too)
(the original gun bit was found!!! but only after the conversion too place... )
Connecting flamer to the canister.
Some fantastic entries so far everyone, mothsniper I love your beach painting! Such a bloody good idea.
I've finally got my build completed. Finally be able to start painting next week. Time has flown faster than I wanted
My take on the Votann Hekaton. The kit has bumpers and a tow hitch so I feel like they did a nice job of moving the Land Train idea forwards. There was much more I wanted to do on this build but with time running out I'm going to make do for now!
Half the month left but I want to get these tabletop quality for Monday as I'm finally getting to play with small planes! Having loads of fun with these.
Olthannon that League vehicle is helped a lot by the tracks!
I think I’ve put more paint on stuff this month than ever before! The Legion grows further with the epically named Xenomoths joining the fun. Using a Purple Emperor derived scheme
Still need to tidy up the teeth on the test models, and then base them all.
I foresee a lot of orange drybrushing in my future!
Midget Gems contacted me suggesting that I might like to enter this special centenery edition of the painting challenge, and I was more than happy to oblige. It's lovely to see so many familiar names entering, and equally nice to see some I don't recognise. There's some great work appearing, too! For those who don't remember me, or don't know me, I used to enter the competition every month, and didn't miss a month for a few years consecutively. I only stopped when I got hired by the commission studio Siege Studios, which leaves me no time for my own hobby stuff. I think the painting challenge helped me improve a huge amount as a painter, as well as helping my ability to work to a deadline. I wouldn't have been able to get that job without the challenge, so I owe you guys a lot.
As luck would have it, I do have a little time to inbetween jobs this month to set aside for this challenge round. My entry tenuously fits both "Celebration" and "Paradigm" as I'm entering the ork Blood Bowl star Player Varag Ghoul-Chewer, surely a paradigm of the orkish kind, greatest ork blitzer of all-time. It's also fitting for the celebration part, as I'm painting for my brother as a present for his 40th birthday. I'm a bit behind schedule, and am struggling to get it finished for his 41st birthday, but it's the thought that counts isn't it? Isn't it?
Varag is also a return to my past mistakes, as I painted an older version of this same model for my least popular entry to the painting challenges ever. I think it might be the only time I didn't score any points. Hopefully this time I can get at least one or two.

Zero votes? Having seen your work, that's hard to imagine.
I finished the Champion of Slaanesh over the weekend:
More photos in my P&M blog, if you are interested. I may just enter this guy instead of the whole set.
That's a swell looking sword, currently going to paint my wood-elf knights swords (2 of them have one anyway) and am in the detail phase..
Just lined one of the 5 horses armor but not too happy with the effect (I never liked linework) and might do it over with a slightly less conspicuous hue (even though its just a lighter version of the horse-armor) to have it pop less, I want the focus on the accessoiries not on the armor.
The elfs themselves look freaking brutal, I'm very happy with how they turned out.
Might make a wip pic of that lined horse when I get home (not at home when I'm online, considering I have no internet at home (by choice)
Back then I made them look pretty accurate but still was a lot less thorough and effective with my painting skills because for one I didn't own a magnifying lense lamp (which I use now) nor did I blend as properly.. so I think I can make those blades look better now (and want to)

Awesome painting JoshInJapan
I'm afraid this weekend got away from me and any free time has been directed at painting so not done the league table yet, it will likely have to wait until the end of the month as I'm more worried about getting my model finished.
You geezys ready for some top level kitbashing? *caresses beard and looks smug*
Here's my final WIP of my entry; Wood-elves knights. (From the Vampire knights box)
Taking the 'Paradigm' road, but I suppose its a bit of a celebration in its own because I always wanted the Vampire knights box loooooong ago before vampires were even a thing in AOS so I kitbashed loads of StD knights with skeleton heads into vampire knights for my display board. Then years later at a store sale I managed to grab the Vampire Knights box 50% off, yoink! And here it is, put to good use.
Sorry for the unsharp image of the base, but still including it.. (that's the risk I take for not being able to use a laptop at home now hehe, and I'm not biking back to make a sharper pic.)
WIP of my leader:

WIP of his base:
(The rest still needs linework but as my prev post stated.. I detest the looks of linework and am still not really certain about the dark gold linework on the leader's horse armor (feel free to give your thoughts)
There are some great looking entries this month! Here is my final entry, not perfect but for the amount of time I had to work on it I'm happy with how it turned out.
Any constructive criticism people have would be much appreciated!
@ DrGiggles - that looks great! I love the dusty boots. The only thing I would suggest is maybe one more level of highlight on the helmet. Heads are a focal point of observers, and it looks just a little flat to me. Just a simple bit of hard edge highlight, and maybe a bit of sparkle in the eye is all it needs
@ Olthannon - The tracks look much better than the teeny tiny wheels of the original. Good luck with getting it coated in time! Airbrush?
@Mothsniper - Wow, looks great. Love the grey robes for Locarno.
@Leopold Helevine: Wow, that kitbash is spectacular! The undead horse really adds to the effect. The model seems more like the traditional depictions of the Sidhe(sp?) as being sinister and dangerous.
@Mothsniper: that book is truly impressive. I may have to go back and do a little more on my model.
@DrGiggles: That's a great model. I agree with Flinty that the face needs something to draw the eye, though.
Sweet!
Wish I could zoom into those gems, very shiny, its like you put a drop of Modpoge Gloss on each one of the gems.

Whole army coming together as a whole very nicely! Have you tried (TrueBlood) from greenstuff before? Would be perfects for those butterfly maws.
Okay, I've been taking photos of EVERYTHING I've primed just in case I get something painted in time. Well, it seems a theme has been coming together...
We Are Legion Of Paradigms From Ages Past
Slowly making progress, but some of these still need some touch ups:

Right on!
The old school is a bit before my time, but I respect it! Looking great so far, touchups, More touchups!
The old school style always Reminds me of the Bard
Progress:
Time ran out, need few touchups, backpack piece is unfinished (damaged during gluing), the gluing was difficult and left fat seams, that I have to embrace and work around and resolve somehow, no time to sculp the base, no time to fix the lightbox, not time to take the pictures.
Luckily next work trip will be closer to home and I will get pictures taken by the end of the week, God willing.
Note:
1 - These models are difficult, you want to glue them in and fill the seems before priming but the undecuts makes painting hard, or paint them separately, but then struggle with the glue and have visible gaps.
2 - I fit and glue the models slightly bit higher into the base, that allows me to sculpt a bit of something into the base without damaging or ruining already painted areas that are touching the ground.
3 - Painting thin layer of GSW (Intensity Ink orange) or think layer of GSW (True Blood) on top of the red holster pops the colors super much into vibrant red.
This guy is looking absolutely EPIC! Can't wait to see him painted up
Thank you so much! The bases are starting to look smashing, using another metalic paint for the linework now which makes the dark gold on the horsearmor actually stand out better (its not that visible on the pics I noticed, but I'll really focus on making sure it can be seen on the final pics)
I really like the colors on the cape you just posted btw, thats some nice grainy blend.
Entry on -paradigm-; kitbashing lesser creatures into greater ones!! *yeaaarghhh!!!*

My first thought was to go academic. Introduction 101. Is that just an American college thing? Where courses are numbered, and 101 is generally the basic intro class.

It’s an a week an thing, but pretty recognisable through media exposure.

I am 100% in favor of this. I'm not saying I have just the miniature for it, but you know.
JoshInJapan wrote: How about "Eww!", where we paint something gross and icky?
Daia doesn't need any encouragement on that front.
I had the same thought When rolling ideas for how I’d flesh that out into the short paragraph description, do I call them out specifically? I thought it might be fun to offer it up as a technical challenge. Paint something wet, sticky, dripping or otherwise moist/fluid. Could be a vial of poison/blood/potions, bloody injured models. dripping fangs or oozing tentacles, or a swampy base. I figure that’s a wide enough net that most people should be able to find something. If not they could vote for one of the other options.

I had the same thought
I don't know what you're talking about Actually I'd like to toss 'Pride' into the ring, a month late but we had the centennial thing going on (and I'm incapable of thinking a month ahead in any case). Obviously it's kind of a free pass for the Emperor's Children (or the Rainbow Warriors chapter), but more broadly, any miniature with their head held high, for whatever reason - chosen to carry the army banner or sacred relic of whatever-the-hell, a rookie just finished training and spent all night ironing their uniform/polishing their power armour to look impeccable on day one, a commander pleased with their troops' performance, a ganger who's finally saved up/stole enough to afford the gun of their dreams, whatever.
That aside, despite being delayed due to Dreamlight Valley dropping an update in the middle of the month, let's all celebrate the miracle of birth with Sister Julienne, Midwife of Slaanesh:
Spoiler:
...well, when I say 'birth', it's more a case of her summoning a daemon (having looked up the summoning rules in Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness) directly into the abdominal cavity of the patient and letting nature take its course. Well, technically not so much 'patient' as 'victim'. And since most 40k combatants are ill-equipped to give birth, some drilling may be required. The important thing is, it's a miracle.
Nevelon wrote: Nice work everyone. Be sure to include what topic your entry is with your final pics, and a title for your piece if you want.
Running out of month. If anyone has any ideas for the 101st July comp next month, now would be a good time for them.

Great work finishing another of your conversions Daia T'Nara
Progress! Oh progress, won't you spare me for another week?
Got the bulk of it out the way now. I have the onerous task of painting the canopy and a few more touch ups where I've noticed on the pictures there's some shading missing.
I'm not too happy with the tracks, probably need to break up the colours and repaint the wheels or something. Originally I wanted to make some track guards and then this wouldn't be an issue.. that'll be for later down the line.
Going to try and finish old þunorslieht here tomorrow after work.
A whole week might be a bit much, but as the 30th is a friday, we could probably sneak in an extra weekend. I’m not sure if you are joking, but honestly, I don’t want to see people rush or fail to make this one, so I’m just going to go ahead and bump this out to ending Sunday the 2nd at midnight eastern. Doing it now to prevent people from stressing and allow them to adjust.
Unless you are the kind of person who needs that deadline to get you moving. In which case, don’t read this until Friday night, and then you can have the extra time. But not until you’ve already had one dose of panic driven progress.

Well, that is a MAJOR relief! I was struggling to see how I would be done by Friday. Thankyou!
Paradigms: The Queens of the Adriatic... well, two of them facing off for the fate of Venice, plus a gondola and posts. The Queen of Thieves has been converted to add smoke bombs, meaning she's actually more useful in game that just (just!) an alt-sculpt of the Capo The Queen of the Cult of Charybdis Similarly, with the release of the new Secret Societies summer campaign, she fits neatly as a leader for this. I continue to be delighted by how well out garden table and wall work 😜 You can't have a Venetian scene without a gondola, after all. The other scenery is there simply for atmosphere, as it was started last month (even thought not finished till this).

Side note:
(Wouldn't mind taking a sledge hammer to the wrists of the designer who came up with an idea of having a single model with complex undecuts that have to be assembled from 4 pieces that all have to align perfectly, while the glue is drying, all at once)
Ether suffer the undecuts of fully assembled and gapfilled model, or suffer the gaps and the damaging gluing process of the painted pieces, because one thin layer of primer is enough to jam the pin through the hole connection. I almost ruined the Rogue Trader character because the pin got stuck halfway with the glue applied, had to quickly wrap the model in a sock and use pliers to force the pieces together before the super glue garbed on and would of forced me to cut the model apart. will check later if any damage has been done.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I gave up on the idea of painting pieces separately, rather suffer the undercuts ...
Repairs underway.
In hindsight - Next time pick the color scheme to match the color of the gap filler.
Sanding
Could of been worse!
LET THIS BE AN ENCOURAGMENT for all, that the gaps can be filled sanded and painted over on a finished model, and it will be ok!
youwashock wrote: Oh, man. That looks like a nerve-wracking process. Good job on the repairs!
The large gaps on the Navigator character are because of the glue setting in before the pieces got forced closed all the way. I used (Tamiya extra thin cement) and the pin, like a piston, must of scraped the primer, jammed and set on the last 2mm.
It’s not a particularly neat or technically proficient paint job but I’m nevertheless glad to have this one done and over the line in time.
Lots of fun to build and bring to life. I like to think it’s everything a mekkanical celebration of orkdom should be. Stompy, Killy, dead flash and propa Orky. Any aspiring Bad Moons Mek would be proud to see this beast stomp out of his mekshop and into da Waaagh!!!
I have a long way to go yet, but some progress has been made. Did an orange, red, and blue highlight set up to mark out where the glow from the fireplace would be. Then, went back in a redid the whole face. I have a little bit more blending on the legs to do, but the skin is just about done.
These are fun models to have and to paint, yet with surprisingly convoluted and difficult assembly design.
My final failure in ether type of lights, camera settings, or brains turned out the pictures with a yellow tint... (Blue-erier the background, the closer to real colors)
I felt so confident when I uploaded by entry and seeing some of you guy's finished (and some not even finished yet) pics makes me feel almost demotivated.. the bar is just way higher than my work or camera could possibly hit. ;(

Don’t let that stop you. All those great entries started somewhere. Take it as a challenge and a goal. Keep at it and one day that will be you.
Wait, is that set of pics from Mothsniper legal? I ask because there have been lots of times where I've wanted to take multiple shots of multiple minis, but I felt I had to restrict myself to six pics total...
Not going to have anything for this month and I hate myself for missing out on the centenary. I've just had no motivation to paint and have spent most of the month building a heresy Raven Guard army and doing a load of conversions.

You are correct. Sorry, been distracted lately; meant to comment earlier.
@Mothsniper - composite pictures count all the individual shots, so you are just a -tad- over the 6 photo limit. You could take group shots, or just select the best pic of each individual.
@CancelledApocalypse shame to miss out. How about something small, just to have your name on the rolls? Objective marker? Or just a lone marine. Any progress is good progress. Still have a little time to get some paint down.

Hmmm, I'll see what I can do... I might have a Raven Guard moritat I could paint up quickly...

Raven guard (and tau stealthsuits, lictors, alpha legion) are easy to paint due to how stealthy they are. It’s all in the base.

Oh don't worry I'll never stop
Just bought two big boxes of new lights from the photography store aswell, one a big LED ring light with standard and full on controlboard for light temperature levels and the other a double rectangular light that can be moved around whatever you're trying to shoot (best way to describe it) (it looks a bit like two rectangular alien eyes on tubes)
Maybe demotivating is the wrong word, I mean it rather as vanishing out of the competition -_-
Got it to a stage I'm reasonably pleased with so happy to call this my finished entry. I had a look through the themes of the past challenges and I picked April '22 - Reborn and Remade. The Squats are born anew and what better way to celebrate that fact with something that combines the old landtrain with the new land fortress.
Praise be to þunorslieht! The hammer of the ancestors.
Glad I got that finished before I went on holiday. Still managed a bit of time to build some space marines from the Leviathan box.
Good luck everyone, some superb entries as always.

Those models look great @Mothsniper (just combine the photos)
Go on @CancelledApocalypse, just get that one model in, you can do it!
Really impressed with the effort that's gone in to everyones entries so far
Still WIP but the end is in sight. Needs a few more passes with the camo, and a lot of details. But it always feels good when things are not white. As I prime everything white, when I see a lot of it on the model it just feels like I have forever to go.
Midget Gems wrote: Go on @CancelledApocalypse, just get that one model in, you can do it!
I'm not sure I can, I've had no time to paint today, other than very quickly priming a few models, so I've got two days to get a model done... or four if we're actually getting a weekend extension. Hmmm... I'll have to see tomorrow what I can do.
@Nevelon Ooh, nice camo! And on eldar rangers, too! Nice!
Well, she's about 90% of what I would want her to be, but I have no more time for hobby. I'm heading out of town tomorrow, and still have to finish packing.
I don't have time to set up a camera or anything either, so I think these phone shots will have to do as final pictures for the competition.
Celebrating a hard day's adventuring with a beer and a fireplace. And less clothes than strictly necessary.
To bear the standard is to be everything the company stands for. To hold within oneself the entirety of its culture and history. To be everything an Adeptus Astartes should be. They are no more than any other space marine and no less. They are simply as they should be.
Thanks, Olthannon! It is just Realistic Blue Water from Scenarama. Also, it cracked in multiple places. Didn't think it was that deep, but I guess it is. Poured another thin layer to fill in. Now I wait.

Friend, hope this encouragement will find you in good faith and spirit. Took me a while to understand that the most important thing in this hobby, and generally in any job or activity in life, is to (Enjoy the process!!!). If you enjoy the slow and the boring part of any particular activity, then it won't matter who is doing what, or even if you are having success at it or not.
Post yours! And be part of this event! I never really liked elf cav or vamp cav, but I like your your elf/vamp knights, epic kitbash. And about the quality of pictures worry not, it was never that important. Besides, pictures are never perfect, mini will always look different in real life.
I assure you that the high bar idea you mentioned does not exist here. If any bar ever existed or was ever set, then DV8 set it into godstatus long time ago

Not going to have anything for this month and I hate myself for missing out on the centenary. I've just had no motivation to paint and have spent most of the month building a heresy Raven Guard army and doing a load of conversions.
Can always count on being policed. Always reminds of of this experiment lolz
Spoiler:
But you are absolutely right! I will be making official submission following the rules

You are correct. Sorry, been distracted lately; meant to comment earlier.
@Mothsniper - composite pictures count all the individual shots, so you are just a -tad- over the 6 photo limit. You could take group shots, or just select the best pic of each individual.
Roger that! I was out of state for work, just got back to edit the entry.

And done on the very last day. So here is my final submission for the 100th dakka painting challenge, with this 3d printed not lord of change (subject: Carry a big stick):
Quite a bunch of pretty models in this thread, can't wait to browse the voting thread.
Here is my entry. Going with the pile of shame topic, finishing off some models for a WFB army. They'll be getting their battlefield debut at warhammer world this weekend
and that's the photo limitso the chimera doesn't get a close up in the final entry (my least favourite of the bunch)

Thanks for the kind words, I'm just brutally honest and extremely impressed with some of the results people posted to the point that I felt like scuttling backward out of bounds like a sad crab.

He looks like he isn't too pleased that he was not part of the entry.
Am I reading the thread right that I can post my final photos tomorrow? I'm all finished, but I haven't been able to take the photos yet. It's okay if that's not allowed. I'll post it up anyway, and it can be included or not depending on the whims of our benevolent overlord Nev.
Well, the month has gone by so quickly.
June has been busy so I have not had much time for painting. The unbearable heat does not help either.
Everyone has been doing a stellar work so far and I'm eagerly looking forward to the voting.
Yesterday I decided to try and do something for the challenge, but I'm guessing I won't be able to finish it.
We'll see.
Here's the proof just in case:
And here's a WIP.
I picked this model for two reasons, the theme being "Paradigm".
First of all, like many of you know this model is sculpted after the iconic artwork made by John Blanche.
To honor his retirement, I thought it would be finally time to tackle this mini. It has been waiting for a couple of years in my cabinet, but I did not dare paint it.
The second reason is that in addition to being "the most badass battle sister in existence", the original artwork and the model perfectly represents 40k in my mind.
It's just so... metal.
The original artwork by John Blanche for those who have not seen it.
All done. The Titan Dragon of Aarklash, from Confrontation. Truly a Paradigm of dragon-ness. Water cracked again, BTW. Third time's the charm. Also, doesn't fit in the light box. Or on any shelves. Pics!
Quite happy to have this painted, finally. It's been warming the shelf for the better part of a decade. Also quite happy with how it has turned out. Went for the iconic red, not just because of the Paradigm theme, but because I have not painted a red dragon before, and they have been a fixture of fantasy since...forever?
Awesome work, everyone! Can't wait to see the final lineup. Thanks for looking!
The card says it is a 10 cm x 10 cm base. It's a pretty big model. I should get a scale shot with something familiar. I also considered a shot of it facing off with one of my Knights.

Correct so don't panic anyone, Nev has kindly given us the weekend to finish any painting and photos (I think because its a special one and also it is meant to be a fun challenge too, we don't want to cause a load of unnecessary stress)
Here’s my finished entry for the Celebration topic. My very first painting challenge entry was a tankbusta back in April of 2016. It seems fitting then to do a bomb squig for the centennial. This is also the third bomb squig I’ve completed for these, having completed one for a December open round in 2016 (my first ever green stuff sculpt from scratch) and another for the Primal theme in April of 2017.
These challenges have been my primary motivation for painting and have kept me more or less on a mini a month pace (not fast, I know, but better by far than zero minis per month). Consequently, I have added numerous characters, and whole squads to my army that might otherwise never have seen the light of day. These challenges have also pushed me to try new techniques and improve my photography.
Massive thanks to the community here for commenting to help me improve, contributing and especially to all who help keep it going!

Lolz, he kinda does!
I feel I have been through the sad crab stage Becoming untied from the opinions of people I could enjoy the process, with purpose, throw Christian world view. Check this out https://www.youtube.com/@slepoirushn/videos many failed projects and an abandoned career of 10+ years and I now work as a truck driver. My most watched video is at 2K views, but lolz it is 11 years old.
So when I say that the most important thing is to: ( =Enjoy the Process=) I speak from experience.
It will allow you to work-on and through in the face of utter failure.
And for me, the Christian world view allows me to see the purpose in that process, even in utter failure. Sry a bit of topic, but hope this helps though

Awesome! Damn good call on the water effects, the mini lake, small thing but that reflection just adds so much.

Without further ado, let’s celebrate!
Guess what?
Squig butt!
Good job on the bomb squig. Is this one also sculpted from scratch?
I join in the thanks to everyone who make this monthly challenge possible and kept it so consistent, much respect! For me too, it is quite motivational and I would of been worse off without this community and this event.
Nice turnout this month, and some really impressive work!
YES! So good to see that you are in
I was like, where is Queen_annes_revenge where is Freya and where is Vejut?
Dog a Cat and a Bat, I like your stuff man.
Still plenty of weekend left folks. Make it to the finish line!
So finished up the last bits on my entry: Mostly happy with how they turned out. One step I did for them that I didn’t do with my prior recent camo cloaks is edge highlight. Makes a difference; nice little border to help separate the camo from the rest of the mini, but all subtle-like. These new plastics are a lot better then the old finecast ones I painted. Looking forward to the shroudrunners I’ve got sitting in the primed pile for more space elf winter hiding fun.
Spoiler:
New and old together
Bonus entry: While my son has mostly fallen out of 40k, I asked if he’d like to join us for this round. He entered twice before back in 2018. Little bit of a last minute rush, but he finished up a librarian.
I love it when you get this flood of amazing entries at the end of the month. Great work everyone! I'll save comments on individual entries until the voting thread.
Here are my final pics of Varag Ghoul-Chewer, Paragon of the Ork Blood Bowl players, and painted as a celebration of my Newcastle United supporting brother's birthday.
Well, against all expectations I managed to get the Canoness more or less done!
As it was raining, I took the opportunity and decided to paint the whole day. Not a good idea though, as towards the end I started to rush things.
Still the time was running out, so I made a simple 5 minute base for the sake of this challenge. The bones etc. are not aligned properly, but I will fix that later.
Canoness Veridyan
Tried to do all the metal parts with NMM.
There are areas that succeeded quite well in my opionion. But there are also areas, that did not go as planned.
I think I will try to improve those areas sometime later. Looking at the pictures, I'd say many of the "golden" parts lack contrast and especially pure white highlights.
Anyway, C&C is welcome!
Great to see a flurry of entries coming in at the end, nice work getting them finished Nev, Felt, Jadenim, XvArcanevX, Tallandra, Ezki
This could be a long post
First the Kids, I'm just happy they have fun painting with their dad and its something we can share, although I don't get much painting done I have the job of chief paint pot opener. They really like painting Gryph-hounds and when I took them to the local GW the other day they got very excited over the bracken and creeping vines base extras (fine by me one of the cheapest items in the shop but not sure I understand it though)

On to my Entry
I wanted to go for something big and push myself as this was for the 100th. I have an ideas book I sketch things in when I find the odd spare moment and this has been in there for a long time, it is the biggest model and conversion I have ever done. TBH I could have spent another week doing highlights and adding extra bits in but had to draw the line somewhere so what's on there is done but still have some extra grots and gubbins to put on.
My Final Pics of my Looted Knight = Theme all the way back to August 15 Rise of the Machines
I had a model painted for this comp, but I can't find my proof pic. I also wanted to finish a second model to go with it as they are supposed to be a pair, but it's only half done... /Fail
Boringstuff wrote: I had a model painted for this comp, but I can't find my proof pic. I also wanted to finish a second model to go with it as they are supposed to be a pair, but it's only half done... /Fail
We are fairly relaxed on that one so if you have any 1/2 way done pics that's fine or if it seems reasonable you did paint it within the month and just forgot just declare that.
@Eski - thats an amazing piece. The NMM works really well.
Here is my entry on the theme of Legion. Deliberate use of contrast style paints, no highlights and minimal detailing I think this is the most minis I’ve ever finished in one month ever. About 40 I think. Except maybe some epic stuff I did an awfully long time ago

Thanks. I posted these pics two weeks ago on my blog, so I'm going to claim that's enough circumstantial evidence.
Kingdom Death Dung Beetle Ball as promised - a fitting representation of my repeated failures to finish models for this comp.
I dislike the eyes and was planning to repaint them to match the spot colour I was using on the Dung Beetle Knight (i.e. the other half of the model pair), but obviously that has not happened yet.
I have some better images somewhere, but Imgur is playing up now... I probably should have been a tiny bit more organised.

I trust you on the proof thing. Don’t worry about that. It’s really just on the books to keep people from entering finished works. Lot of honor system here.
Tyranid Horde wrote:I'll have photos tomorrow if allowed? Some serious family stuff has taken my chance to wrap up the final minis.
I’m not going to be able to compile the vote at least until after work tomorrow, so if you need to dig up some more pics or take them, that’s fine. While we obviously need to draw the line somewhere, I’m OK with it being fuzzy.
Family stuff is more important than painting deadlines. Hope all is well.
Thanks for the extension, Nev! Because of that, I was able to get an entry finished, even if the final results are a bit phoned in. I could probably do more, but at this point I'm just ready to move on to other things. Here are the final pics of my Bladeguard Veterans, taken from the April 2015 challenge Veterans (the first of these comps that I ever entered):
Hopefully I can do better for next month. I'm not particularly proud of these models, but at least I got something done, and they'll look reasonable on the tabletop I suppose.
