Well, I hope the web hosts machine-spirit has received all the necessary sacrifices. Time to turn to the "hardware" again:

Gut plate for the driller:

Clamps/vices:

The Adeptus Mechanicus strongly believes in equal opportunity employment:

Maybe I´ll lower the optics turret on this one, I´m not quite happy with it. His "operator" will get a little control panel and joysticks and the big guy will probably get some gun arms.

The one with the spanner on the base is great. These things are pretty creepy!

My only gripe is the ratty feet on the third guy down. Any chance of some booties?

Oh, I´ll cut off the feet on all of them, like with the first one. Less weak, corrupting flesh...

The Ogres need on/off switches!! Great job on them BTW!

@insaniak, PsychosisPC: Thanks, cute little critters, aren´t they

@Hobbes: Yes, they´ll all carry some sort of tool or equipment. You know, that idea with on/off switches just gave me an idea for a mini-diorama: A Mechanicus Jawa "starting" a slumped over Makro-Servitor with a starter cord, like an outboard motor...but that will have to wait, I´d rather not mess with the finished servitors anymore.

@MIGHTYPanehead: Probably black/grey, though I´ll try and see how they look in Mars-red.

@Nuwisha: Close. I´ll just copy the explanation back from page 2:

I drilled a small hole through a cylindrical rod and glued the end of a thinner, hexagonal rod into it. After the glue had fully set, I wound the hexagonal rod tightly around the cylindrical one and then pulled the windings apart till I had achieved the right kind of flank lead. The only tricky part is then to keep the hexagonal rod from winding back up since it is quite flexible. I found the best method is to dab some super glue at some points while you still secure everything in place, wait for the glue to set and then to apply plastic glue along the whole length to "weld" everything together.

@Anarchyman99: Thanks, I try to do my best

"Ponder this, young adept: The tool is used in the sacrament of construction. Humble as it may be, not even the blessed Titan, greatest of all Machines, can persist without its ceaseless service. Forged from sacred metal, simple in its design and clear in its purpose, it shows us, who are still bound by our corrupting flesh, the light of the Omnissiah.

But behold ! It takes nought but a change of intent to turn the creator into a annihilator. This is the terrible power of the tool. Whenever you use it, you step up to an abyss, dark and unfathomably deep. All the strength of the Machine, channeled through your feeble hands and fickle mind, for good or for ill.

I see you are afraid. You should be. Once you have sensed the abyss, it will never leave your mind. Ponder the mysterium of the tool, young adept, and pray to the Omnissiah to give you strength when your time comes to use it..."

Did you write it?

Great work on the figures too.

a) Wonderfull work, as always

b) Is it just me, or does the gentleman with the screwdriver have 4 fingers and 4 thumbs on his left hand?

c) EDSK, we really need to turn your talents to more worthy endeavors.  Like 54mm figures for Inquisitor, as an example...   In all seriousness, I would absolutely love to see what you could do with the larger scale.

JOKER

I think I was trying to suggest something

about the duality of man, sir.

COLONEL

The what?

JOKER

The duality of man. The Jungian thing, sir.

@Bob Lorgar:
a)Of course
b)Not quite:

His thumb is circled red. I drilled a hole through his fist and then cut a gap between his knuckles to squeeze the screwdriver into.

c)Eh, problem is, there is much less source material in the Inquistor range and if I´m not mistaken, none of it is plastic. I really don´t like working with metal.

I really like the idea of using the plastic plauge monks. I was thinking about using them for some conversions as well. Great work!!

You can't start that (even if midway) and not finish it!

Pogue Colonel: Whose side are you on, son?

Private Joker: Our side, sir.

Pogue Colonel: Don't you love your country?

Private Joker: Yes, sir.

Pogue Colonel: Then how about getting with the program? Why don't you jump on the team and come on in for the big win?

Private Joker: Yes, sir.

Pogue Colonel: Son, all I've ever asked of my marines is that they obey my orders as they would the word of God. We are here to help the Vietnamese, because inside every [see forum posting rules] there is an American trying to get out. It's a hardball world, son. We've gotta keep our heads until this peace craze blows over.

Private Joker: Aye-aye, sir.

Great conversions as usual. Quite lovely and that's some awesome fluff you've come up for the little beasties too. Excellent!

Awesome stuff, very inspiring!!!

I didn't realise the plastic plague monks came out already, but now I need some for conversion fodder.

About the painting:
While I like it overall and it's technically great, I think such large models and surfaces look flat without detail. Tattoos, cuts, bruises, product codes, rust streaks, oil stains... would go a long way to lift the painting up to bar with the superb converting.

I can just imagine the one with the screwdriver looking at the Tech-Adept speaking to him and thinking "WTF? It's just a flathead!"

@jlmb_123: You wouldn´t speak so lightly of "just a flathead" if you had witnessed the nearly 2000 years of internal strife following the Phillips head Heresy.

@nyarlathotep667: I just realized that with a bit of tweaking, other quotations work just as well:

"The Adeptus Mechanicus does not want killers. The Adeptus Mechanicus wants robots."

@migsula: Yeah, well, I mentioned that idea with barcodes, but that´s just too easily messed up with squiggly lines and such. Also I think I´ve met my quota concerning grease stains, rust and paint chips. With bigger project such as this, painting is less fun and more of a chore to me, especially since every dust mote in the room seems to home in on me as soon as I pick up a brush, so right now I´m just glad to be done with it.

Latest addition, the revered ratchet:

@Sir Crispy: The standard styrene sheet from Plastruct or Evergreen is slightly smaller than a sheet of paper and will last a long time, unless you build a lot of armor plates. As for thickness, the 1.5 mm / .060 inch sheets are good for blades, armor plates, spacers and building basic shapes, the 0.8 mm / .030 sheets make good armor trims and fittings and the 0.3 mm / .010 inch sheets can be used for belts, straps, small raised panels on weapons or machines and can be even twisted around enough to pass as parchment strips on purity seals.

For the servitors, I actually used very little sheet material, most shapes are made up of square tubing, pipes and H-beams, same with the Jawas.

@Clayman: For the ratchet, I pressed a hex bit through a small piece of pipe, carving out the hex shape from the inner walls of the pipe.

@Symbio Joe: Let´s say like cogs in a gearbox :p
