'Tu'shan. Weighs in near 300 points, has a Master Crafted Thunderhammer that hits on initiative o_O, a Twin Linked Heavy Flamer, and as mentioned above (somewhere! lol!) his chapter tactics seem to be to make THs in your army MC (and maybe Flamers Twin Linked but not sure on that). He has a 2+ Armour Save and a 3+ Invulnerable save. And he's also immune to ID.'

Couple this with earlier rumours stating he was T 5...seems like a beatstick.

Groovy, thanks. I was talking about this big guy with my friend and I was right in my guess on the initiative thunderhammer

Insane on the twin-linked heavy flamer, but a 2/3+ save?? Holy hell that's ridiculous.

With Tu'shan and Kor'sarro, two new interesting IC in the line, it could be nice to see all rumored 11 IC's .
There 's also stated at B&C that not every smurf is a IC! Maybe 1 IC per primogenitor -legion plus some fluff IC's?

Well consider this. You can have two special chars from different legions in the same army. So....

Lysander grants twin-linked to all bolters/heavy bolters in the army
Tu'Shan grants twin-linked to all melta/flamers in the army

You'll be able to re-roll misses on practically everything in your army. Toss in a group of Terms with master-crafted Thunder Hammers. Wheee

I really like Tushan's apparent style. Smash'm with a hammer then set'm on fire. Or better yet, the reverse. Set'm on fire, then pound them down as they're running around. I think sallies will be very popular. Nice to see they're getting some attention from the design studio. Redeemer and seige dread with inferno cannon (rumored anyhow) = very fluffy for Sallies. have fun.

yeah. maybe now SM will be over-powered relative to chaos SM. hehe. Doubt it, though, as apparently they've been doing more codex testing these days.

As a Salamander player I'm pretty stoked about Tu'Shan, but part of me feels like the longtime fan of a band that just hit it big now everyone knows and likes. What was once somewhat rare and cool is probably gonna be common place and cliche (like lysanderwing in the current dex).
Also, not looking forward to all the hate I will get when fielding Tu'Shan, nor all the wanna-bees using him in their non-Salamander DIY armies.

Granted that is minor, I'm really just stoked to see all the Salamander love. BL has even tentatively green-lighted a Salamander novel.

Do we know if Calgar/Tigurius/Cassius are in the book?

What about the oldies like Shrike and Lysander?

Heh, I feel your pain winterman... I had an Imperial Fists army with termies before the age of lysander, and have actually used it less since, for fear of cheese criers. :(

On a different, but similar subject, it now looks as if the same thing will be happening to my DKOK army. With the whole greatcoat guard plastics rumor, they might be the next fad army...

Salamanders are hands down the best Space Marines out there in terms of flavour and stuff, so glad to see they're getting something cool.
2+/3+ isn't toooo bad, after all Typhus is 2+/5+/4+ and he's killable.

The Eye of Terror

This new marine codex irks me to no end and this just adds on to it all. Tu'shan (if this is real) is completely unreasonble, I don't care if he costs 300. He'll easily massacre 300 points of anything off the merit he goes at init with a TH. I can't think of anything in my codex that can stand up to this monstrosity and face a reasonable chance. But what do you expect, I'm looking at Codex Chaos Marines...

You could tarpit him with fearless lesser daemons until you can bring sufficient force to bear on him.
Seriously, if people can deal with Typhus they should be able to deal with this fella.

But people tend to actually get a chance to strike in close combat against Typhus seeing as he isn't armed with an Init Thunderhammer.

He is armed with a wounds on a 4+ or better multi attacks powerweapon that is also a force weapon though.
Which is pretty damn nasty.
Anyway, the way to kill uber characters like that is to shoot the crap out of them.

There's no way we'll see real Salamander troops with I3, so the chances of us seeing an I3 Sally Commander are roughly nil.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. Look...the Salamanders are the most P.I.M.P. chapter in the universe. Only the Wolves come close.

Tu'Shan should be able to have biblical relations with Nightbringer, if you catch my drift.

I wonder how many people will believe me when I tell them my Marines have been a Salamanders offshoot since the Armageddon codex came out. I really have. I'll have to model up a "counts as" guy for this dude, he sounds sweet.

There's a big difference between a 3+ save and a 5+ save. And Typhus doesn't get FNP against power weapons. And he's not immune to ID. And so forth.

A bit on the uber-side, but I hope he gets a model to match.

So we have the rules for Tu'shan, and Khan, (Tu'shan being an *obvious* badass) what about the other marine characters in the codex?

I'm curious to see the new versions of the Ultra's characters, Marneus specifically.

Also, the existing special characters such as Shrike and Lysander, etc.

The one character I really want to see the rules for is the Crimson Fists' Captain Kantor, as I *love* the miniature & plan on picking one up to paint and add to a small band of crimson fists I have sitting patiently on the back burner. Has anyone seen the rules for him, or know if he has anything special going for him beyond having a cool Grey Knight esque gauntlet mounted stormbolter and a powerfist?

Thanks in advance for any updates and/or info!
