Okay here is my first picture:



I know he looks a bit tilted but as I build up the base I think it will work out alright.

I am thinking about sculpting some BA iconry to his armor... any suggestions are welcome.

where is that haead from

It kind of looks like he's in the process of falling. Though it might look cool for a Diorama, I'm pretty sure you don't want a dying HQ.

I'd say attempt to tilt him forward a bit. Anything with a jump pack tends to tilt forward, not back. Unless you want to do some serious converting, and make it look like he's using his jump pack to jump backwards. But that would take a lot more work.

Are you going to paint the armor gold?

eh... not a big fan of the pose... or the weird hat... He looks like a lego man falling over...

Perhaps a different pose?

I really like the helmet to be honest. I know the pose is off but after I finish the base I think it will come together. If not it's simple to shift him into a more upright position.

The helmet is from the new Sicarius model that was released with the new Space Marine codex. He probably should have gold armor but I am rather keen to go all red.

I think if you bent the models right knee and have him stepping up onto the chestplate it would fix the "falling over issue" It would also give it a nice dynamic pose.

1) cut the knee out completely
2) use a paper clip as a "bone" to get the pose you want
3) after the model is glued in place use green stuff to replace the knee.

I think that would make this awesome

Actually it's even simpler... All I have to do is pull him off the pin and glue him back on in an upright position.

yea ill wait till your base is done to say "wow thats tilted" but other then that i really like the mini. got any side shots?

At this stage it looks pretty good to me as concepts go.
Re the pose : if you photo him with a bad-guy behind him it looks like he's about to pull a killer back-flip !

What movement are you actually trying to suggest with the pose ? That would help me see where you're trying to go with this.

Other then the odd pose, I think its good. And as you said you have fixed that, now i simply think its good.

Is he getting shot?

The pose is off, also the helmet isn't too fitting for Dante, you need something more Blood Angel like and not something obviously Ultramarine (the Ultramarine logo is still on it).

I am going to be doing some sculpting... such as a blood drop over the omega symbol.

It took me a while to figure out what it was that didn't feel right about the model (I think the fact that the model was tilted was making it harder for me). But I think my problem is that the pose isn't dynamic enough to be Dante. For an Assault Sgt or even a SM Commander it's okay, but for a named Character like Dante, it's not nearly flashy enough. It doesn't leap out at me and say, "I'm coming to wipe out your firebase." Maybe mount him on the base in such a way as to make it look like he's in the air with his jump pack. Something. Right now, it looks like he's taking a stroll across the battlefield.

Also, doesn't Dante have an Inferno pistol rather than a combi-weapon?

I still have some work to do on the pistol. This is WIP and I am looking for this good feedback... thanks!

Ditch the helmet, very Un-dante-esque.

I'll wait till you change the pose before saying it sucks too.

I have a lot of sculpting to do before I even touch a brush. I am planning to keep the helmet.

Please explain how Dante got his Ultramarine helmet.

After looking at pose again I have decide that either....

A.) he is slipping on banana peel
or
B.) screaming 'help me, help me my lead jump pack is too heavy"

<end sarcasm>

I am currently busy working on sculpting BA icon onto the armor and building up the base. Hopefully I will have another picture up by the end of the weekend.

Note on helmet - I love the helmet!!!

If you're not sold on the helmet (ha!), it really should be swapped out for something a bit more "Death-masky", shouldn't it?

Or does someone else wear the Deathmask these days?
