Yesterday I went to Warhammer World in Nottingham with my mates and we saw an amazing battle board. It had a wreacked Reaver titan, wreaked super heavy vehicles, more then two sets of forge world fortress walls which had the usual heavy bolter/lascannon turrets replaced with Vulcan mega bolter turrets, cities of death kits and a load of scratch built scenery. We were told we could play on it if we wanted, but when told the price the table cost to build we decided not to in case we damaged it. The GW staff said the total cost was £10,000!!!

Below are the pictures.

They should have built it into a Sultan, that would have bumped the price a bit!

Awesome find, thanks for sharing it. I remember looking at old conversions in white dwarf where one or two major parts were used from another model and thinking that it was a waste of money and not something I would be able to replicate, but that table is just insane.

I totally would have played on it.

Remember, their cost is not your cost. They have Forge World next door. The pieces that Forge World sells to you have a high cost in order to create margins that are big enough to pay their employees for the time that they spend working on them. But, for GW, the cost of a big piece of resin is really no more than the cost of a bag of resin mix.

That's an awesome table, with some great terrain, but £10,000? Someone was yanking your chain. Two imperial wall sets and a reaver titan total £1,761.70. Probably cost about £2,000 for that table. That's a farcry from £10,000

That is a pretty fragtastic table, although it could have used a bit more terrain in the middle - that'd probably be a real meat grinder for whoever was assaulting the fortifications. I definitely would have played on it.

The power generators are particularly cool.

Well, most fortifications would have an open killing ground, usually larger than the range of the most common weapon (Take Castles. THe open ground surrounding them was greater than a Bow could fire. Otherwise your enemy just hides in the woods and bombards you).

They posted lots of pictures when they were building that table, just can't remember when it was so I can find them again.

And having played a damned enjoyable game on that table, you know what the most annoying thing is? Someone / some people have snapped many of the turret guns off. Several of the hydra turrets are missing barrels, some of the heavy bolters are in half. They provide this table to play on for free, and people can't respect it? Makes me mad.

Aye it made me and my mates really mad too. I think on one of my photos you can see a broken hydra turret, plus there are holes in the board revealing the pink foam. It must be really infurating for the staff who made it to see it get damaged. We only had 2000 pt armies with us so it seemed a bit excessive to use a such a huge table. There was a fairly large Apocalypse game on the go when while we were there. Looked brilliant.

Hmm, I dunno. All the super heavy wrecks and converted/scratch built vehicles were all the resin versions (not the plastic baneblades), plus there's all the material that went into making it and labour. We just have to take the staff's word for it. Still, even £2000 for a games table is pretty staggering.

Its a pretty pointless table with the giant wall blocking most access except for the blasted door, and the 2 damaged wall sections, 1 with difficult terrain on one side and the other too narrow for most vehicles...

I'm not surprised by the high price tag. I see on this:
1 Wrecked Warhound
1 Wrecked Baneblade
6+ Sanctum Imperialis
3 FW Imperial Fortress Walls
2 Hydra Turrets
1 Imperial Moisture Condenser
4 Macharius Turrets
5 Large Plasma Cannons (Resin StormBlade)
1 Modified Plastic Shadowsword
2 Converted Chimeras
1 Imperial Water Fuel Tank
12 Battlefield Accessory Sets

Before wages of who ever built it and adding in an extra to cover the other basic supplies: ~£3500

At minimum wage, the remaining £6500 would be about 1000 man hours, to assemble, convert, build, deal with the forgeworld resin, design, and order everything. In all likely hood 3 or 4 people worked on it, and probably were making more than minimum.

A bit of a stretch to say £10000.

If you follow the link on GCMandrake's post you can see the step-by-step build posted by Warhammer World themselves and it does indeed say the cost is £10,000. Crazy amounts of money. They don't itemise the cost though, so hard to see where all the money was spent.
Think I'll stick with the realm of battle board just now, a little more affordable.

Oh man, I remember seeing that table at Warhammer World. It's fething epic.

Actually, pretty much all of the "big" tables were amazing.

I still prefer that giant cathedral and giant destroyed tower though.
