"Once upon a time an Iron Warriors company decided to begin mining and drilling in a distant planet at far edges of space to initiate weapons manufacture. This however, disturbed a certain C'tan and his minions in their millenia spanning sleep. As punishment, the Star God decided to mock and annihilate the intruders for his own amusement."

My 1500 point Necron force. Completion from the box to the table took 2 weeks while doing 8 hour shifts daily at work. Guess you could call it somesort of speedpainting, since the 28 Warriors and the Lord for example, were done in 1 day. I added some simple conversions with a Possessed Chaos Marine sprue to support the background story, a plaything of The Deceiver, fused from Iron Warriors and Necron servants. Their leader, an abomination half Necron Lord, half a Warsmith. I converted some "living metal" appendages to his Destroyer Body, in addition to some rust and battledamage as also present in the other models.

I hope you like my army.

I am not a big Cron fan, but these look sick (in a good way lol).

Much better than the silver terminator wanna-be’s that I usually see across the table from me.

Iron Warriors that were punished by a Necron C'Tan? Ho ho ho. How Ironec-ron...

No? Not funny? Didn't work?

I think the rust effect is incredibly ... effective.

I'm glad to see you dig. As my next (more detailed, more timeconsuming) project I've been planning the Space Wolves, published in the near future, with some Forgeworld additions.

Caution stripes everywhere = RAWK! Very nicely executed! I'm not a big fan of the wings on the Lord - I mean, I understand it from the fluff, but I feel like it takes away from the thematic look of the rest of the army. Army as a whole looks terrific, though!

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

He-hey!

Time for a mini update. I've grinded some more detail into some of the miniatures, and improved the Destroyer bases. Also, the Necron Lord on foot received more paint in form of a new cloak and caution stripes onto his shoulder. I also matt varnished the whole bunch, and took better pics on my new gaming table! Hope you enjoy. Here's a collage, bigger pics updated into the original post.

I didn't like the caution lines at first, seemed too out of place on necrons but the more I look at the pics the more I like it whole army really looks great especially for something painted so quick. How did you do such a good job so quick anyway? are they dipped?

You can try gut my indestructible Necrodermis all you like, tremble as it remains unscratched!
No but seriously, cheers dude.

The fluff was originally made to atleast have some sort of an explanation.
Then I imagined it myself, sort of liked the idea, and took some conversions to go with it.
Not that I would actually need to excuse what I do, I wanted Necrons with a certain theme and did exactly that.

@Necros, the first stage of the metal shading is done with a polyurethane varnish. After that I add the rust, damage, some highlights and other details.
This does indeed speed up the process. Now I'm working on some Warrior sprues, which with the help of plasticard and modeling putty will be converted into Immortals, Flayed ones and Wraiths.

Expect more in the near future...

Well I could give two-gaks-less about "Fluff" because 40k is based around imagination, and loose rule sets so people can express themselves and their creativity. You executed it beautifully. I can defiantly see a C'Tan being an a** like this because they Eat STARs for C****t Sake... I hope to see some amazing conversions.

Cool, I've been considering getting back into necrons, always loved the models and regretted selling my old army. I painted the old one to look like bone, but if I do it again I'm going to go for a rusted look with tons of weathering and all that stuff. I was considering just spraying them boltgun metal and dipping them as the first stage, then using a sponge to add oranges and other shades of brown with some silver on the highest edges and for some scratches. and mix in some powders too.

Thinking about investing in one of those phalanx box sets, seems like a good base to build off of.

it's not the 3 monolith box set it's the army set they have now that has something like 50 warriors, 6 destroyers a monolith and a lord. comes out to like 1500 pts or so for $200 so it seems like a good deal, all that is $330 separately.

Update. Here come my Wraiths, made from a few in-your-home items:

A simple conversion, consisting of a bagshutter, some electric cord, protective tubes of paintbrushes, greenstuff and plasticard.

They looked a bit naked at first, so I made some black rags for them from greenstuff, inspired by jerseydevil's Wraith found here on the forums.
Ofcourse, I also added some caution stripes into the front sides of their claws. The wraiths were modeled to look down as they do float a bit higher
than your average troopers, so on the table they appear to be scything that Imperial Guardsman screeching in horror below.
I also modeled one of them to phase trough a ruin wall.

Next up are some Immortals.

My only two qualms are that the Fluff starts with "Once upon a time"

IN THE GRIMDARK GRIMDARKNESS OF THE UBERGRIMDARK 41ST MILLENNIUM, THERE ARE NO FAIRY TALES! THERE IS ONLY MOAR GRIMDARK AND WAR!

And that the Necrons for some reason repainted themselves to mock the Iron Warriors. Really I think it would just be better to say that they were found like that. Maybe they were construction 'Cons back in their day?

Do love the colour scheme though. The rust looks -really- good and the Danger hatching is really sharp.
