10 Wolf Guard in power armor with Bolt Pistols and Power Weapons

so far only 2 units I can think of that even have a chance against this in close combat, Genestealers, and Demonettes. (volume of faster attacks that can ignore power armor) but against those units you have a redeemer who laughs at them while raising the ambient temperature around it to 10000 degrees.

so, can you think of any unit that can stand up to this charge?

I know anyone can just wreck the land raider and avoid the unit, but I am not asking for tactics to beat this unit, im asking for something beefier in combat.

Its something slowed along the lines of 14 models in the Crusader because two are in term armour leaving 12 Slots left over for 9 normal power armour guys given powerfists etc...

If it Charges it gets something like

28 STR6 powerweapon attacks with Preferred Enemy
Reroll vs T5 or greater
Reroll because of Logan
Arjac gives on 4 ST10 thunderhammer
Logan Grimnar gvies off his attacks
Ulric Gives his attacks
Wolf Lord Gives his attacks
Ragnar Gives off his attacks

Everything has furious Charge , prefferred enemy ; reroll wounds vs t5


I think this is the most expensive unit in the game.

There is nothing in the game that can stop that charge.

Yea, but that is basically just a pumped up version of what I offered, except twice the cost.

the unit i mentioned is feasable in an 1850 game, albeit rediculous.

well this may not be better but it renders your unit completely worthless. Ironclad dreadnought.

I'm fairly certain that this unit trashes the SW one.

also I think I got a unit that can beat them if charged. By the way this unit is incredibly inexpensive when compared to yours.

Wyches take the reroll hits combat drug.

so I have 18 attacks at I 6 that hit on a 4+ and are rerollable. Only wound on a 5 though.
Then I have 3 attacks at I6 that hit on 4+ reroll and are 4+ wound power weapons
Followed by 4 attacks at I7 that hit on a 3+ reroll hits and are 4+ wound power weapons
Finally there is lelith with 4 attacks at I8 that hit on a 3+ reroll hits and are 4+ wound power weapons

Now when it comes to your unit, every models weapon skill is halved and you lose the bonus attack with for your CCWs do to wych weapons. Finally every model but lelith has a 4+ save invul and lelith has a 2+ invul.

what do you think?

Stick them in a Raider. Then you get the charge and get to kill the LRR.

So you've got 2 HQ's, a tank and 10 MEQ's....
13 models - somewhere just over 1000 points Im guessing...

For the same points - Id fight this with:

A Flyrant with 2x Talons, Impant attack, toxin sacs and +1 IN;
3 Lictors;
1 Broodlord (implant attack, toxin sacs) with 5 genestealers (Toxin sacs)
and
24 genstealers with toxic sacs (6 with feeder tendrils)

The Flyrant and Lictors get the jump on the Redeemer - the Broodlord and genestealers close the distance.

Im not sure how good a match up this would be but it would be fun to find out.

Rusty, the OP said that his unit gets the charge so I said why waste points on a riader.

Since we are going for insane units with no concept of points in game:

Skulltaker: Juggernaut - 175
Herald of khorne on juggernaut: might, fury - 140
Herald of khorne on juggernaut: might, fury - 140
Herald of khorne on juggernaut: might, fury - 140
8 Bloodcrushers of khorne: Fury, icon, instrument - 360

heralds + skulltaker get 5 S6 attacks on the charge each that ignore saves and have rending.

The crushers get 28 attacks, all ignore saves.
1 crusher gets 4 attacks, ignores saves and has rending.

All models are T5 with 3 wounds and a 3+ 5++ save/s.

Very cheap unit
Stupidly strong too.

If my mathhammer works out correctly, you will kill about 8 wolf guard, and I kill about 5 elves, so yea, you would win combat. also, my unit, not including the transport is less than 700 points.

Genestealers would eat them alive too, but thats why there is a redeemer there. The lictors would take a few marines out, but then die a very quick death with only 2 wounds. the Flyrant would just get mauled, Slayers oath lets me reroll hits and wounds against him.

Statistical averages would lead to the 8 bloodcrushers being wiped out on the charge, without getting to make a single attack. I dont have the stats to skulltaker and heralds on me, but this post actually was not completely ignoring points, otherwise I would have just put up a list like Hollismasons.

rusty, I dont know if that was meant as some sort of a backwards insult, but I am offended that that is what you pulled from this post. I am honestly trying to get a feel for what can beat this unit in CC when I charge, and so far only 1 feasable thing has turned up, Dark Eldar.

The flyrant and lictors are there purely to fight the Redeemer - the stealers kill what comes out of it.

Why assume you get to charge? A Dark Eldar player can reliably take out a Land Raider before it gets to close. Many Space Marine lists have the capability to take out a redeemer at range, then slam into the passengers with Assault Terminators (this one might end up with your unit on top anyways).

Note- I'm making the assumption that you're trying to figure out if this unit is useful in game. If not, then I guess your unit is incredibly good at defeating other single units in CC when it gets to charge, ignoring all other factors like cost, shooting, etc.

because the list this is paired up with 2 other land raiders with Iron Priests, for repairs and transport hopping.

Also, Dark Eldar would win in combat, assuming the wyches get the right drugs, but I will not run into a DE list in any local game because no one around here uses them.

because of the I5 and volume of attacks, this unit would indeed win out over assault termies.

not much math hammer but heck zogwort zaps you heroes to squigs while you try to slash through the boyz

I guess you would have to put in a Rune Priest for psychic stuff.

9 STR 9 attacks from Logan or 9 STR6 at ini 6
7 STR 5 attacks from the rune priest at ini 5
8 STR 10 attacks from Arjac


All of the special characters can hit on 3+ and reroll ; all of the 54 attacks reroll ; everything rerolls vs. toughness 5 or more.


There i nothing in the game that can handle that unit its retardedly expensive.

actually in the DE faq lelith's retinue gets to choose the drugs they want at the start of game instead of rolling

I thought we were talking about an 1850 point game. With your crazy 700 point unit, plus three Land Raiders, plus Iron Priests, what do you have for troops? Bare bones Grey Hunter Squads?

IG 50 man platoon + many commissars + power weapons

...yes you go first yes you get D3 attacks on top of your 2 base (+1 2CCWs) and you've got 2 heros... but i have numbers and enough power weapon to cause worse damage to the wolves (possibly even sniping out the 2 IC)

55 men with about 65 VS 12 men with around 40-60 attacks ... Chances look good that IG will loose combat but cripple the wolves

I thought Space Wolf Transports carried 10, not 12.

What about a tooled up Nob Bikers squad, could destroy Ragnar .

Space Wolf Land Raiders and Drop Pods only carry 10. SW Land Raider Redeemers carry 12, and their Crusaders carry 16.

Take a Seer Council as follows:
Farseer (better Eldrad) w/ fortune, doom
10 Warlocks w/ embolden, enhance
Yriel.

Yriel's eye of wrath against a doomed emeny unit in power armor is priceless.
Almost all WG in power armor will die.
Fortune will make the Council durable to take on the SW HQ's.

They have a 3+ invulnerable and runic priest gives them a 4+ nullify on any thing cast in 24 inches.
