Hello Dakka. Been away a while. Working on dark elves, which is what I basicly started FB with back in ´97, along with chaos it's my favorite army, so I've been breakin my head against the wall trying to come up with a good color scheme. Eventually I did come up
with something I liked, which has the both dark and pale which I started at one point suspecting wouldn't be possible to combine while retaining a cohesive look. The main theme of the army is a black ark raiding force, so there's lots of corsair cloaks on units that might not normally have them, even the warriors are based on the corsair model. I've run this blog at other forums as well, just remembered I could post it here as well, but I dropped out some of the pics I had in the other threads, since they arne't as up to date. I just finished the crossbowmen, and I'm working on the harpies as the next unit.

Excellent stuff so far, the colours are superb and summarise what a Dark Elf army should look like.

The conversions here and there are nicely done too, the Shades and the BSB are my favourites.

Gorgeous, just absolutely gorgeous. The dark riders are perfect; I love the sleek, graceful appearance of the horses. The pinks and green fit suprisingly well together, very subtle.

As already said, it's the dark eldar cruella de ville(or something like that), just to confirm.

The hair look? Fortress gray base, wash with leviathan purple, rehighlight with fortress grey, then wash the areas that will be in the shadow with baal red, rehightlight with fortress gray, and then highlight with pure white. It's important to keep the washes somewhat thin, othervise you get too dark recesses, and it screws up the hair look. You can do a mid level layer between the fortress grey and pure white if you like to get a bit smoother a finish.

Thanks for the very positive feedback, I try my best to make these dark elves look about as good as I can with the time I have keeping in mind I still want them on the table within a reasonable time frame. Character models I mean to go mad with, but I'm saving them as rewards till last. As for schedules on stuff, I'd thought I'd be free from "work" this christmas, but apparently I won't even be home for crhistmas at all, so I'll get a bit less painted than I originally thought. The harpy unit is next to be done, it's almost done as it is, just some wings and stuff to paint. After that it's the cold ones, and then more crossbowmen.
