Greetings people of Dakka Dakka. Today I have come to actually contribute something, because as many know, Dakka Dakka receives the more threads on the subject I will be talking about than any other forum I know of. Even Warseer and Bolter and Chainsword.

Now, there is a story behind what I am about to show you. You see, I was experimenting with True Scaling via a method that involves sculpting entire suits and casting the results for an army. I first wanted to test my ability, so going off Goodwin’s Space Marine wall drawing (the one he did for Inquisitor), I started making some legs using normal power armoured legs as an armature. Whilst I was waiting for some putty to cure I dug about the parts on my desk and found a Reaper model called 'Taryn, Spearmaiden'. It is a hideously out of proportion piece. They even got its head wrong. The eyes were small and sunken, the jaw was massive and as a head it was waaaaay too big for the body and anything else in its scale range.

Then I looked at my marine sculpt. And I looked at the Taryn miniature. And I got an idea. An awful idea. I got a wonderful, awful idea...

I knew just what to do. I made the torso of the marine smaller and sliced the head off the fugly Reaper model. And on it went. Because the out of proportion features of the model's head were perfect for a Space Marine. Why would I do this though, you ask? Well, I am not really a female marine advocate. Mostly because I never saw any sense in the idea of making psychically weaker Space Marines in a galaxy swarming with large, tough men. I would think that woman wouldn't make the final cut even if the process could be used on them. This is my strong, solid, personal opinion on the matter that is not going to change, so please, no one try to convert me or anything or cause a debate. I am not starting this thread for that. You see, I am taking a pot shot at the female debate with this newest work. Now, by making a female marine I have shown that it is perfectly possible for someone that loves his fluff to make one and not feel all guilty and sinful for it. I mean, it is just a model, yes? Not everything we make has to fall in line with the background. We do what we wish with what we pay for with our own money. As long as it looks cool to you, you should do whatever you want.

But then we come to the jabbing at the female marine supporters themselves. Well, how could I do that if I am making them a new addition to the collection?

Well, until now, most female marines have often been no more than a anime fan's wet dreams. I’ve differed from this. I asked myself some questions. If the process did work on woman, how big and powerful does one need to be to be stronger then tons of strong men and survive the process? And what would this 'realistic' female marine look like?

Perhaps you might think my take is sexy? If so; prepare to set your eyes upon the cutest little girl you'll ever see.

Isn’t she just so kawaii desu? +^.^+

As you can see, she heralds from the World Eater Legion. Pre-Heresy of course. Might as well make this over-kill, and all that. I really wanted her to embody her Legion, so I have a Dark Eldar chap impaled on a stick, some skull on her pistol, and an exposed arm, just like Kharn. Kharn is probably her hero because I think he is a pretty cool guy, and so should everyone else.

I will be updating this as I progress, and I will be happy to answer any questions regarding the model.

C&C appreciated.

I like it. It doesn't scream "Bewb Marine!" like people always fear. It really looks like you could put a helmet on it and never suspect it's a female(besides perhaps the exposed arm, but that's debatable).

Nope. The moment I saw the sculpt I knew it was made for this. But really, any badly proportioned 25-28mm Heroic Scale head would do. You just have to look for certain facial features, such as a over sized lower jaw and disproportionately small eyes, ones that look ‘sunken’ if possible. This makes the head in keeping with the marine’s enhanced skeleton and how you see it affect their facial structure in art and models.

My only issue is the backpack and the decoration hanging above her head. You said Pre-Heresy, which means non-chaos, correct? The backpack didn't look like that pre-heresy. The packpack's exhaust vents hung straight down and were actually closer to the pack than they are now. The vents also made a straight line with the top of the pack, rather than the loyalist downward curve.

"From the fires of Betrayal unto the blood of revenge we bring the name of Lorgar, the Bearer of the Word, the favored Son of Chaos, all praise be given to him. From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the Boon of Pain, to turn the Galaxy red with the blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods."

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

That is way more true-scale than any other marines I have seen

Can't wait to see it finished. Think I have to say the feet need to be bigger though. Think the head needs to be a bit larger too, I'm afraid.

Taking note of the warning over female marines, I have to say that I am a fan of them. Not sure that your figure conveys all that much femininity, though it is certainly a lot more "realistic" than most boob-marine conversions.

A slightly narrower waist and wider hips may make it more feminine.

Otherwise, good work

I am not that concerned with her looking feminine. She is a Space Marine after all. If she was fully armoured, the only way to tell between her and a male marine is the chest size. You see, a male marine would have a chest this wide;

Other than that, I don’t see Space Marines identifying with gender, so I don't want her to be very feminine at all. I'd actually imagine ‘realistic’ female marines to be quite manly really.

Her feet and backpack will be indeed modded as progress continues. She will be wearing a Heresy suit.

As for her looking a little big, I think she might well be, but it mostly is the pose. If she was standing in the open stance you see in most art work, she'd no where near be as tall.

And I am happy with her head size. It is bigger then a humans head and it still has that 'pinhead' effect marines have.

Personally, I am not convinced. To me the model looks like a 45mm scale male bodybuilder with a too small female head the size of the left hand glued on. Give the model a SM helmet, and noone can see a difference. Modelling male Space Marines and then saying that they are female but look exactly like males is not giving me any kicks. But maybe that's just me.

Anyway, I'd like to see 10 truescale SM sitting comfortably in a Rhino.

Seeing as you'd be hard pressed to see 10 'regular' scale marines sitting comfortably in a Rhino...

Also, "Truescaling" a Rhino will also only get you so far, from what I've seen.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

I like that you didn't go the whole 'just give it boobs' route. I do wonder though, given all the fluff about the gruelling deadly process weeding out the weak, that a woman could make it. Movies like 'G.I.Jane' and the character Vasquez from 'Aliens' come to mind (although she was just more meat for the monsters, she had balls, AND boobs!... like there may be an exception here or there as to who might just be a badass. I could see how a girl from some hive slum with a completely vicious killer instinct who happened to be blessed with a tough body could stand a chance to out-do lesser men... but when you think about it, there's a reason there are no women playing in the NFL either.

Retroactively applied infallability is its own reward. I wish I knew this years ago.

It reminds me of what the Halo books describe female Spartans looking like, large, intimidating, yet well proportioned. Which is a good thing, as said unless you're very sharp or looking for it you couldn't tell with the helmet on.

Theres a problem with your scaling... you see if it was truely a true scale femmarine there would be nothing to see

But seriously it looks way too tall, more like an inquisitor scale model than a TS marine.

Also kinda reminds me of halo, the female spartan from the Halo movie-anime-thing.

Space marines arn't supposed to be Spartans. They are giants among men and Spartans are just normal sized dudes who.. I don't know are somehow better then normal guys.

I will say though after looking at your model I don't feel that your model is really a female space marine then just a space marine with a female bit head and an IG arm.

So ultimately its just some big burly dude with a feminine head.

Or just some big amazon chick in power armor. Nothing about it really says space marine to me.

I cannot say that i am a fan, really. First reason: true scale. While cool looking on its own, and impressive next to a normal guardsman, a true scale marine just looks wrong when you have a bunch of them versus a bunch of GW normal scaled marines. Also, i have to agree with the thought that it is way too tall, and looks more like something from Inquisitor.

I think with a bit of work, you could get it back down to a better height, and finish off the details a bit more, esp around the knees, elbows and such.

Shes not a space marine yet, but i think that you could get her there with some work
