Hey everyone. Just wanted to let you all know that along with our Relic Knight, Calico Kate now being available for order we're also debuting a special project we've been working on, Ayu Beat. Ayu was sculpted by Thomas David and painted by Jennifer Haley. She is going to be a true limited edition of 499 models. She is available exclusively through CMON and the Soda Pop Store. Ayu's also going to be the subject of the May CMON painting contest where we'll be giving three $50 prizes to our store.
More pics and her bio are up on her character page.
Thanks!
Deke

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

Why do I feel I have to be 15, live in my mom's basement and like anime; to like these models?

Because you associate liking a world-over art style with middle teenagers who live in basements.

Her face doesn't really do it for me. Kinda wide. It's a shame, because I really like the concept art:

Same thought here,Haley's job also kind of enhanced the problem by extending the eye balls wider than the concept. but I think the shape of the face is ok, the problem is the proportion, and that could be fixed by add some more hair on the top of the head.

Very cool! I wouldn't have noticed anything about the face, but the concept art is so good (imho, of course) that it was a high bar to reach.
Excellent mini!

I love the concept art, and rather dislike the mini :( The face really does let it down, being a bit too round and otherwise off a bit (I can't put my finger on it.) Kind of sad about it, as I was going to order it along with Calico Kate, but they can't all be winners I guess :( I really wanted to like it though!

There might still be hope for the face , we have yet to see the unpainted sculpt.
There is one possibility that the roundness of the face is contributed / made worse by the painting high lights of the area above her cheek bone.
Though thats what korean girls facial structure looks like ^^;

Looking at the mini and especially the concept, it's holding a Guitar Hero controller. That's actually rather amusing.

I'm really not into it. The buttsex pose is kind of silly and the backwards guitar-axe looks lame.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

She seems to be inspired by Hatsune Miku who although representing a human is in fact a 3d animated model constructed as the front end of a music synthesizer software.

Luna: Yea, I think the trouble is that there really isn't a well defined jaw/cheek bone area. Combined with a very small mouth (more so than usual anime even) it makes for a face that looks like it is all pudge, like a very small child.
Some Korean girls look like that, but only if they eat too much rice
