I just cant shake the feeling that they will be putting all of the army books in the new rulebook. Does anyone have any opinions about this?
By the way, this feeling is shared by some of my local GW's employees, so i'm not just going around making statements about what might be in the next book, it actually has some backing.

Yeah, I could see them giving up all those sales from the army books by putting them all into the BRB.

I could see them maybe doing something like the 40K 3rd Edition book, but made lite. Or even like the GW website: Overall stats and special rules / wargear for the average mook, but absolutely no indication of upgrade possibilities, points, what the special rules (beyond universal) mean, and so on.

They arent going to redo the books, just massive errata. You will still need the army books.
To clarify - they arent redoing units, adding or subtracting units, or working on "balance" issues. They are just doing a massive errata for compatibility problems -i.e. items that no longer "work" under the new rules.

Shake the feeling off. No army books in the big rulebook. Just pdfs for each army released at the same time.

That's sort of ironic, since those employees should know better.) I think your buddies are screwing with you. Some stores will tell you they have the book, but can't show it to you. Others will deny or confirm rumors. I think they aren't really supposed to say much until june 15th.
The army books are not in the new rulebook.

The army books are not in the new rulebook.
And indeed, the rulebooks are not in the stores. Black Boxes should be going out next week I think, to coincide with the Advance Order going live. But it might be the week after.

Here a pic of the book and some (special edition?, but they have normal codes!) dice, set of markers, measures (1 ruler, 1 caliper), templates (combined 3"/5" plus flame) and magic cards, preorder 28th June, release 10th July (like everything else):

Those templates look badass at first, but then you realize it is plastic, then you realize the non-transparent frame will make it more difficult to judge whether something is under it, and then finally realize that it will break the first time you drop it/sit on it/put it carelessly in your bag/etc.

They will certainly be included in some rulebook bundle (there are two special bundles IIRC), but the code indicates that these might be regular items, not even mail order only. Maybe GW learned from the Space Hulk debacle that if they produce something everybody wants, they should sell it in enough quantities.

... then you look at the nicely painted plastic miniature army still surviving for several years and realize that your logic is flawed

Thats what I'm seeing when I look at the pic, if so I'm going to be really happy, always annoying to find the spells mid game, even more so in this arm breaking tome.
Although on a side note, looking at that pic, if its a SE I'll be getting it, or if that is six different things you can buy, I think four are must haves for me.

Miniatures aren't stored in side pockets or frequently get passed around from one end of the table to the other multiple times per turn.

Here the same pic with Euro prices (as far as I could decipher them):
Rulebook 60 €
Measures 22.50 €
Templates 6.50 €
Magic Cards 7.75 €
Marker set 10.50 €
Skull Dice 8.10 € (or 9.10 €)
So they are indeed available separately and quite affordable as well.

My totally uneducated guess would be that the calipers may be there to measure an area centered on a certain spot (with variable areas available). So that if you had a wizard cast a spell that effects all creatures within X radius of him you just pull out the caliper set it to X and then sweep it around. By the way, they look more like a compass to me rather than a set of calipers.

I don't believe they will be doing that. My understanding is that current army books will remain valid.

The book is huge though. 500 pages is a massive book. A bit like Imperial Armour 3 - very good for solving rules arguments!
Still don't get the measuring set.
And I'm guessing that the magic cards aren't an additional ruleset or anything, just a set of cards to make referencing things easier and quicker (rather than going through the book).
