On the back cover of the new novel, "Hunt for Voldorius," there is an apparently flying space marine vehicle that appears as nothing seen berfore. As artists are provided details before the general public, I don't know, it might well be a close approximation of the new storm raven kit?

It's likely not.

Because y'know, Raven Guard and White Scars aren't the Blood Angels and Grey Knights(the only two "operators" as of now of the Stormravens).

Plus a piece of artwork doesn't mean a lot.

Ah for the days when you knew GW would release a model for every Codex entry, especially when some of those models would essentially be a license to print money, like the Storm Raven.

Really though, I can see GW doing something weird and backwards like that without having thought it through. It'd be cool if we did get to see a cocept level stormraven though.

You mean those same days when some options were just "Oh, you can kitbash X and Y together to create Z!"?

Its this picture:

I doubt its anything but artistic license personally, its just a foreshortened Thunderhakw, just as the Drop pods are far to tall and slender. Unless we should also expect groovy new landspeeders and neato looking tanks too...

Never mind, he fixed it.

Anyways, it's not a Stormraven. It looks like a modified Aquilla Lander.

Agreed!

Look at those assault marines, they are clearly out of coherency!

It could be a stormraven considering the way it is described as a baby thunderhawk. Then again, I'm traitorous scum and only hear what loyalists say right before they die to my autoguns.

I, also, would like to know when these days existed. I have played 40K since Rouge Trader and I can say with absolute certainty that GW has never released all the models for codices. For some reason Fantasy doesn't suffer from this short coming.

The Orks are the pinnacle of creation. For them, the great struggle is won. They have evolved a society which knows no stress or angst. Who are we to judge them? We Eldar who have failed, or the Humans, on the road to ruin in their turn? And why? Because we sought answers to questions that an Ork wouldn't even bother to ask! We see a culture that is strong and despise it as crude.

I'd rather have the ability to take more interesting choices than less, thank you very much. Getting to make your own model for them is just icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned.

I'd like to point out that the White Scars, like motorcycle enthusiasts everywhere, seem to be fond of chopping and channeling all their rides. This illustration also clearly shows post-factory airdams and some smoked taillights. These guys are the lowriders of space.

Can anyone explain the mixing of Raven guard and White Scars in this picture?

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

What on earth is the weapon on the left-most razorback? It looks like an assault cannon with a bunch of melta barrels sticking out in every direction?

See, I think it looks very much like the flyer in the space wolf codex which was almost hands down voted a StormRaven by the posters on this board. I may be in the minority but I tend to see this as a StormRaven and not a T-Hawk.

As for the whole White Scars and the Raven Guard on the cover, they fight together in this battle. Take a look in the current Marine codex and you will get a better background of the battle about to take place in this book and why they are fighting together.

To me those melta-gun looking things coming out of the gun appear to be smoke launchers, seeing as how there are three of them arrayed like how a smoke launcher should be. Don't know why they would Macguyver a smoke launcher onto an assault cannon though.

Wasn't there also a snippet from the Space Wolf Codex that had a similar vehicle? I don't know if it's another case of artist gone wild or if it's actually what the model will look like.

p.s. happy?

edit: found the link. hopefully we'll get an official model with any upcoming grey knights codex.

Yes, that alarm was already sounded a while back. Stormraven sightings are getting as plentiful as those of Elvis, UFOs and divinities. People just want to see it that badly. Every picture that even remotely looks like a Space Marine flying machine becomes a Rorschach test for a Stormraven.

No dipgak - it was called 3rd and 4th Edition - the wonderful time between the dark mysterious and utterly nonsensical release periods of 2nd Ed and 5th Ed (Orks don't count though - they've only ever got a handful of their models, and nothing's changed since RT for them even if things did improve with the last Codex).

Several of the variant Chapters didn't have models to match their options, nor did a lot of the Chaos Legions.

Well you know how GW is. They don't make models for every listing in the codex. And since the Blood Angels just came out recently. Don't expect GW suddenly release a Stormraven out of the blue. So you might have to wait for maybe 3 or 5 years??? and talking about it isn't going to bring it any sooner. we have already discussed this topic when the BA came out. So I say we close this topic.

Looking at that pic I keep thinking that +5 seconds later the Assault Marines end up death-from-aboving the poor Tacticals. Assault packs don't enable you to FLY, right? Just jump real high / far out.

Here some interesting tidbits from Stickmonkey over at Warseer:
I've personally seen a few mockups of the SR from the modelling teams, many more from the art team. I know what the final selected design is. It looks better than I imagined.(...)
I am bound by NDA not to reveal hard facts from any upcoming codex now. So I can give impressions, discuss rumors from elsewhere, or talk about pt information, so long as I don't just come out and say, such and such is definitely in the book...to simplify my restriction dramatically. (...)
I draw parallels to something between a "Aliens" drop ship and a imperial lightning. But it's definately got the style of the astartes/imperium. "baby thunderhawk?" Maybe if you squint at it in a dark room...
