Thats it... thats all I need. Throgg greatest of heros in fantasy and a huge block of his minions. I dont need any advice on this list I just wanted to post it so you can bask in its Throgging greatness.

It is Throgg and Throgg alone that allows you to to play warhammer, with out him there would be no fantasy.

Regeneration isnt as good as last edition. A good idea would be to find something else to field to distract/draw fire from him. Because if he dies your plans are scuppered.

Unfortunately, my throgg has been plinked by a measly 100-point-ish skaven warlord (chieftan?) and the like. However, if he makes his regens his will kill almost anything when he gets to strike. He's crazy good for his points!

Also, I have found that running too many trolls with him is not a good idea for the afore-mentioned reasons. Throgg dies... they're LD 4 paperweights turning stupid.

However, I realize that's not necessarily the point of the thread . I have throgg and 17 trolls, and plan to run them in horde formation for funsies in a large game just to see my opponent's reaction . It's certainly hard to take out!! That is, with anything other than initiative-based magic, or a lucky cannon shot on Throgg. The only other option is high initiative combat awesomeness, perhaps lucky swordmasters taking throgg out (4 could get btb with him if done right) or a character with loads of attacks, or wound-multiplying weapons (that's how the skaven character got him, along with potion of strength).

Warpsolution, it's already been FAQ'ed- so projectile vomit from the 3rd rank when in horde formation is a go!

All I heard out of all this is "...KILLS...ANYTHING...". Throgg is the troll king! He eats teddy grams and poops grizzly bears! Skaven mean nothing to Throgg...

40 troll dolls (you know the wild hair ones) and a larger doll as Trogg, I'd use a "tiny" ball jointed one...though i don't recommend that for others, they get expensive

before I embark on the actual trolls I am gonna get 40 troll dolls and convert them (to have like masks and spears and such)

My throgg has successfully survived 2 purple sun initiative tests in a single game... and also failed a single dwellers below strength test in another.

So I wouldn't attribute him "Chuck Norris" status just yet... perhaps just "Chuck" for his propensity to lose his breakfast!

I'm going to a 64 man tourney in 3 weeks, and there is 3 people running trogg lists, I look forward to playing one of these.

Yes, it's apparently very popular!

However, for a tourney people need to include ogre units, or some other unit that can take banners, unless they know that mission isn't being played ahead of time.

Fair enough. Yeah its easy to miss sarcasm online. The vomit attack from 2 ranks back is very fitting for this army though .

Xanadu, it's true, but having done this with my tree army, I can tell you it's none-too-fun having an auto-loss in a tourney you had to drive to :-/. Leaves you watching games for those 3 hours instead of playing your own... quite a bummer!

So banners are good... not required, but really helpful for tourneys. That said, I know this is a spoof-ish thread, but I like to talk about throgg so what the hey

I sometimes chop out a dragon ogre to fit in 2 units of hounds, since they're needed to keep things off the flanks. Bait your giant unit closer, hit it in the flank, and hope my throgg out-vomits your throgg

not nearly enough trolls

yeah tree's are cool but were made when everything was a tad more balanced

Actually, the trees got a lot better in 8th edition... I was playing them in 7th edition and it was quite challenging!

Imho, people make the mistake of taking too many trolls with throgg... other than for awesomeness purposes, I think 2 units is all you can really pull off with a single character.

If you add another general of some sort to provide leadership (since throgg does it even when he's not the general) you can have up to 3 units... but at that point you need to add a BSB to re-roll all those stupidity tests, and you end up having too many points in characters.

So I like my trolls lean and mean... either one BIG unit with throgg (although not as many as 40 ) or 2 medium units. But even with 2 units, I find that it's hard to keep both viable... if one fails a charge, and another succeeds, they can already be outside of the 12" bubble leadership that throgg provides, especially if he's misplaced in the unit...

(But I know I'll be getting "Moar trolls!" responses to this, which is fine )

if you want balance go with what you're doing but it you want win then 40 trolls is win

I still wanna do the doll thing, but maybe not with Troll dolls right now (so I can actually play the army at a GW store) but still keep the doll theme

you should get the trolls but model the doll hair on them all, and give Throgg some don king hair.

that ruins the trolls, part of their appeal is the hair!
trogg would be a larger doll, wearing a suit I made for said doll

I'm not sure if you were serious, but if you care your list is illegal, as you need three units plus a general to make a legal list. And warhounds don't count (so you just slice off 2x 6-8 trolls from the trollstar and call it good. But still.)

Editorial Comment: Throgg is one of the reasons I'm 100% in favor of banning special characters from the vast majority of tournaments. If you allow SC, you only see the same undercosted dudes repeated ad nauseum - Teclis, Throgg, Skulltaker, Fateweaver, Khalida, Grimgor, Wulfrik - and none of the actually interesting, actually special (as in, unique and fluffy not just OMG THE SEX!!) characters. But I digress.
