Hi,
when World World Games showed previews of their new Terraclips terrain for Malifaux, these products received much praise. Alas, the first production run used too thin cardboard and was send back. Now the redesign is done, the test products approved and production started again, as shown in the graphic below. Here their own words:
So where the heck is our hotly anticipated TerraClips product line I hear you say? Well, the wait has been a long one and both WWG and our partners at Wyrd Miniatures are right there with you, eagerly awaiting the day we can crack open a fresh box. The smell of new ink, the crisp pop of walls effortlessly punched from the board, an entire modular city built in an hour or two with very little actual work involved...ahh...
So what has been going on? In the spirit of transparency and moving things forward we thought it would be a good idea to present you with this little roadmap of where we've been and where we're headed.
Getting very close now!
Here again the pics of the products we are waiting for:

They look lovely, however I cannot tell how big they from they picture, is there any chance of seeing one of these buld with a ruler or model next to it?
Hope they fixed the bugs this time... Looks interesting but until we read a review about it theres no way to know if its a faulty thing or not... man these would be perfect in textured plasticard.

I was thinking that, too.
What's the price on these, and where are they selling to? The last set (Streets of Malifaux) is pure win. Maybe with some miniatures to get some sense of overall scale.

The previous run of product was supposed to be in sets at $50 each
At GenCon, all the original stuff was curling, like cardstock does in high humidity.
That was the problem as much as the thickness from my point of view.
As long as they solved that, they should be fine.
Bam, said the lady!

The prototype shown at Gencon (see below) featured too thin, warping walls that were too glossy as well. They say that the new product has overcome these faults.
Well, as long as the sets are affordable and sturdy enough for someone like me to take them apart and put them back together again over the course of a million gaming sessions, I'll be most pleased. Myes, most pleased indeed.
If it were plastic then you'd probably get it unpainted and when you get stuff like that unpainted you get the unwashed masses telling you "not to buy it but instead build your own for a fraction of the price, so come on now don't be lazy!"

If it was textured plastic like those pics I doubt anyone could built something as durable and as thin for a fraction of the price.

This is Dakka Dakka, they will find a way to be right or be extremely pig-headed about it.
Liking these quite a bit. They seem nicely generic to my tastes.
However, given their admitted problems (and an old skool 90's stylee Rispek! for owning up and sorting) I think I'd rather wait for a few reviews on these.
You see, I'm getting right into my painting these days, and I'm about to move into a diddy flat all my own. Thus a Skirmishy type game might go down a treat with visitors. Even more so with flatpack terrain.
Automatically Appended Next Post: P.S. BrookM....are you selling the Elysian V Company?

The clips that hold it all together also look extremely obvious... Looks like they're just edited out in the promotional shots. Or not shown in the first place, since the promotional pics look like 3D renders rather than actual product pictures.
So no, while it looks awesome in the promo shots, the clips spoil it for me.

An interesting point that I had not considered. I would really like to see some pictures of the actual kit by a 3rd party so we can tell it is not just a render of the product or something of that ilk.
The clips were also supposed to change somehow. I think they were trying for a matte finish so they don't shine so much.

Look at the graphic of planning:
Clip redesign: Wo-Hoo for easier on/off and semi-clear transparency
Sounds like satin or matte finish to me, but they obviously weren't satisfied with the prototype clips.
And the clips are for modularity. If you keep it permanently in one position, you can glue it, otherwise you can find other options.

Since when did people that scratchbuild terrain become "unwashed masses"?
Personally I have no problem with someone buying good ready made terrain if they wish.
Lazy thinking and unwarranted insults on the other hand...
For the record I scratch terrain AND wash regularly. The two activities are NOT mutually exclusive.
Back on topic
would look good for other skirmish games. Could imagine an Anima Tactics game on some of those sets.
Don't remember those clips from the BoW video at GenCon, but again they may have been the promo pics, Insaniak.
edit: cf 1:35 and the clips can't be seen on an actual model

Yay! Getting closer to re(re)lease! For the price (assuming sitll roughly $50) I don't think these can be beat. And if it's sturdy enough will fit just fine on a regular card table, usually about 34" square.
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings. Look on My works, Ye Mighty, and despair.

This conversation has even begun to boggle my internet-hardened mind.

The clips were also part of the reason the terrain didn't get released. They are going to be retooled, i think smaller and in a non-trasnparent dark color plastic.
Edit. Found a picture of the news clips.
as you can see the new clips are a lot better.
Also the card is supposed to be 1.7 mm thick. Significantly thicker than at gencon.

Yeah, that last pic kind of emphasises the point... the clips are much less visible on a dark background, and certainly better than the original clips... but still too obvious for my tastes.
Kudos to them for a nice idea, though, and the artwork on the terrain pieces is gorgeous.
